Because they've made a lot of very outrageous and overgeneralized topics. A lot. All complaining about killers and calling BHVR Killer Mains, refusing to see anything good for survivors, seeing everything as bad for survivors. The Slozzmeister has some good points every now and then, like Tinkerer being ridiculous, but it's buried underneath so much horseshit that it's hard to find.
And, if the DbD stats are anything to believe, Sluzzo is a hardcore nurse main with over 10 000 successful blink hits, and if this person is the same one as the one on steam, they also like to tunnel and face camp, and kill themselves on first hook against anything they find remotely unfun. There's even video evidence of this-- OhTofu uploaded a video playing as a stealth version of Hillbilly. He downed someone named Sluzzy with a cross-map Billy snipe, and that person immediately killed themselves on first hook. With all the evidence piled up, it's extremely hard to take Sluzzy seriously. They aren't worth talking to since they don't talk or discuss, they just repeat their opinion like a baby and refuse to listen to anything anyone else says. They're an enigma.
And as far as Huntresses hitboxes go, they're... Wonky. They're definitely big, and Huntress get;s undeserved Hatchet hits all the time, but I've also seen them hit Survivors, with blood-splatter and everything, and the Survivor not take damage. Dedicated Servers screwed her up.
Gotcha. Thank you for that background.
I agree, it does seem to me like dodging hatches is often a breeze, I barely even try, but then other times it's like "well that building sure came around the corner pretty fast".

Personally? No thank you. While the original creator no longer receives any sort of money from this licence (as far as I am aware) I personally wouldn't want this game tainted by something he created. I can get separating the artist from art, but from a convicted child molester? That's stretching it, in my opinion.
BHVR has already also said they will never make a Jeepers Creepers chapter, and I doubt they would change their mind with this particular issue.
I didn't know that the devs even weighed in on the issue. I guess I should have searched longer. It's an understandable viewpoint. I myself saw the film before knowing ANYTHING about it, other than the film's setup: A creature comes around every 23 months to feed for 23 days (or something to that effect). I was looking to catch a film for my 23rd birthday, which happens to take place on September 23. I thought "there is no way NOT to see this movie".
I walked away thinking that it was a lot of fun. It wasn't until afterward that I learned who Victor Salva was. For that reason I can separate the art from the artist but yes, it is a stretch. Generally speaking I don't believe that convicted child molesters should be allowed to have careers, at least not those that are what they were up to when they committed their crimes in the first place.
Shame that the situation is what it is, but I understand the position 100 percent. Again, I hadn't seen the character mentioned anywhere in my travels through the fog so I thought that maybe he simply hadn't been addressed. Guess I'm a little late on that one. :)

Perfectly fair. Sorry that I didn't see the previous topic.

Creator is a pedophile and so does not deserve to have their character immortalzed in this game.
A fair enough viewpoint, one I can totally understand (and, to an extent, agree with). I was interested in seeing the discussion unfold but if it's already happened then there's no need for a second one. Mods, if you see this feel free to delete. I'll see if I can track down the original topic.

honestly from the gameplay I've seen I'll never buy trickster seems like a waste of my time and resources
Trickster, Freddy and Ash are the only characters I haven't purchased. Ash is Ash so I need to get him, I just have other survivors whose perks are better suited to me so he's on the backburner. Playing as Freddy, and especially Trickster? Not interested.

I'm relatively new here still so maybe someone can educate me: Why is Sluzzy considered a troll and everything he or she says "bait"? I'm not saying it's not. I'm also not saying it is. I'm just saying that in the few months that I've been here I've noticed a more or less consistent pattern of topics and areas of concern, with nothing that strikes me as outrageously trollish, like "Spirit is the easiest killer in the game, you guys are all just terrible" or "I can't wait for the new RE DLC, I guarantee you that it will be Marguerite Baker, Ada Wong, and Sherry Birkin". Can someone tell me why this user has a reputation as a baiter? I'd just like to be educated.
On the second issue, I can only express surprise that so many people (way more than Sluzzy) have expressed concern about the size of Huntress' hatchets. I've seen their collision boxes referred to as the size of refrigerators, dumpsters, and even Buicks, lol. Maybe it's luck, maybe it's one of my few hidden skills in this game, but I don't understand where all of this is coming from. This is a video of me playing the game within my first few weeks of owning it, back in late March, and I'm able to get away from those things even though they're basically flying so close they're giving Dwight a shave. I'm nor bragging - I plenty suck at some things in this game - but is what's in this video especially unusual or something? Did I just get crazy lucky here?

The amount of killers I have been facing recently that just camp and tunnel and slug for 4k's without any remorse is disturbing to me. If you try to ask them why they tell you various things like: You just need to play better. Should I just let you live? It's my job to kill you. I don't care I won.
The win mentality some people have in this asymmetrical PvP game is really bad.
You can not kill any survivors and still "Win", survivors can escape and still "Lose". If you 4k and get a bad score you lost. If you escape and get a bad score you lost. If you didn't have fun you ultimately lost. How is absolutely destroying 4 solo queue survivors who are not that good fun for you? Did you get bullied by a really good SWF now you are taking it out on average survivors?
I have many hours in this game going back to 2017, I am just over 4000 hours of playtime. I main Amanda Young when I play killer. I know what it's like to get bullied as a killer. It's definitely not fun. I however don't turn around and start playing like a sweat lord who has vowed to get vengeance on every survivor like they are the Russian mob who just killed my dog and stole my car.
On Amanda I run A nurses calling, Brutal Strength, Enduring and Monitor and Abuse. I never try to slow the game down, I only slug occasionally when I am actually getting bullied. I NEVER tunnel, I make a very distinct point to NEVER tunnel. When a survivor gets hooked I make note of who I hook and how many times I have hooked them. I ALWAYS let survivors get unhooked, I never chase them off the hook. I go for 2 hooks on each survivor, and then some downs before I let every survivor go. I always score 21-25k points. I don't always kill all the survivors and "Win" But I always get legitimate GG's and +rep from survivors. I even meet people I am happy to see again or vice versa.
This is a challenging way to play, you don't always succeed. It's EASY to camp and tunnel. It's EASY to slug for the 4k. It's EASY to play like a dick. Ultimately the killer CONTROLS the pace of the game. As a killer you are playing with 4 other PEOPLE. Ultimately at the end of the day it's about having FUN not winning. Is it fun for you to prevent 4 other people from having fun?
Thoughts? Opinions? Personal Anecdotes? Lets hear some juicy rants from both sides please.
Bot matches coming soon. Can't wait!

1) Yes, June 15th is when the RE Chapter releases. The day before the official Anniversary, though the celebrations don't start until July 1st as confirmed above by Mandy.
2) No progress from the PTB is transferred over to live servers, including Bloodpoints, Shards, items, or any Auric Cells spent or bought. People who grind on the PTB to have these perks available on launch are doing nothing but wasting their own time and giving us something to laugh at.
Okay thanks, that's exactly what I figured. I initially thought that I'd reinstall the PTB to play some more RCPD and bot matches but figured "nah, I'll just wait a couple of weeks". But then when a few people said that they were hurriedly prestiging the characters I thought "ehhh....isn't that sort of a waste of time"?
Thanks for the clarification.
-
Weird, I also thought that the anniversary events were in June. The RE DLC officially launches in mid-June, doesn't it?
Actually that leads me to another question I should probably find out about: Do any of the bloodpoints that are gained in the PTB carry over when you go back to the main game, at any time? I could swear that they specifically said no in the stream but I've seen several people mention how they're grinding the new characters fast so they can have all their perks ready upon launch.

Probably because Open Handed doesn’t do anything on its own. It has to be paired with other aura reading perks (or what I said about keys).
Best thing about Open Handed is that it affects the whole team. I always feel good running it when in the post match results i see other survivors running (for example) Kindred or Windows of Opportunity or Plunderers, and knowing my Open Handed helped them a lot.
So Open Handed not only buffs your own personal aura perks, it buffs all other aura perks that anyone else on the team is running? That's absolutely awesome. Totally my kind of perk. I mean, like many aura perks it won't help much when the killer actually finds and starts to chase you, but for more stealthy play, it sounds amazing. I think, when I first looked over the DLC to decide what to get first, I must not have been familiar enough with the various perks to really understand how something that Open Hand could complement my playstyle. I thought that Ace was literally worthless, a character who brought absolutely nothing of value. Now it looks like I have some grinding to do, lol.

Open Handed extends any ranged aura reading by a HUGE amount.
Works with:
- Bond
- Tier 1 and Tier 2 Empathy
- Plunderers Instinct
- Kindred
- Buckle Up
- Better Together
- Visionary
- Saboteur
- Windows of Opportunity
- Detectives Hunch
- Keys (Gold Token, Eroded Token, Blood Amber, also stacks with the range increase of Scratched Pearl).
- It’s supposed to partially counter the effects of Knockout, but it’s currently bugged and not extending the readable aura range.
Wow, how the hell did I miss this perk? Thanks for the info, I can't wait to try it now!

What an interesting quiz!
Wraith was my top, which makes sense to me. I'm a fairly inexperienced killer and wanted someone who was relative easy to learn but also stealthy. That pretty much sums him up exactly. As little as I like facing him anymore, I can see him as being my kind of killer.
Next was a tie between Leatherface and Ghostface, each at 875 points, about 150 less than Wraith. My worst pick would be Nurse.

Bond with new Open Handed is phenomenal. It gives me so much info.
Nice, thanks for that tip! I would never have taken a second look at Ace. So they stack? That's like 150+ feet.

There are more good Freddy movies (5) than good Halloween movies (2 or 3, depending), but Freddy loses ten million points for being in the reboot that literally no one in the world likes. Then again there were the two awful Rob Zombie Halloween movies, so that one's kind of a tossup.
Two scenes in the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie creeped me the HELL out, whereas I didn't see Halloween until I was an adult and more or less impervious to horror movies being actually scary. That said, the idea of a weird guy in a weird mask just silently sneaking and hiding around the neighborhood in broad daylight is super creepy.
Neither Freddy nor Michael had particularly good videos games before starring in this one.
Freddy went full horror comedy by the 4th film, Michael never sold out to the stoners.
Freddy made Johnny Depp's career, but Halloween made Jamie Lee Curtis' career.
The Nightmare series had Patricia Arquette, Laurence Fishburne, Roseanne, and Bill Saxon. Halloween had Jamie Lee Curtis, Malcolm McDowell, Danny Trejo, LL Cool J, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Donald Pleasance, Brad Dourif, William Forsythe, and...Busta Rhymes?
Halloween 3 was an overlooked, random side story.
Nightmare 2 was SUPER gay.
I never dreamt about Michael Myers but I did dream about Freddy. He was making jokes.
Freddy annoys me in this game. By contrast I like playing as, and against, Michael.
The winner is....
MICHAEL MYERS!

I play stealthy so I love using aura perks like Bond, Dark Sense, Kindred, and the fourth I sometimes swap around but often use Urban Evasion. The pro is that I get a lot of information about where my teammates are and what they're doing, as well as occasional updates as to the killer's movements as well. The con is that I have no advantage when I'm caught.
-
Still don't get why they could have left at least a couple of the Coldwind maps dark. There are only FIVE of them.

@Steel_Eyed said:
If this was disabled because an unhook was inaccessible because of the killer, then Dead Dawg Saloon should be disabled as well. If a hook spawns on the hangmans noose generator platform, the killer can bodyblock that stairwell up.
Hmm. It sounds like they should definitely disable this map.
Then forget to re-enable it.

I feel like the feel of the game and the concept of 4 strangers stuck in a forest-like area with some psychopath hunting them down mixed with the interesting chase mechanics and how every match is different than the last one is what makes dbd truly one of the most unique games i have played.
First, the addictive gameplay. If the game didn't have that, no one would still be playing it.
Second, the variety. The sheer number of characters, perks and maps makes every game a new chance to have fun (or, if you're sweaty, rush out a cheap win at all possible costs).
Third, the flexibility. Lots of different people can play this game lots of different ways, and "losing" doesn't necessarily mean what it does in most other games.
Finally, great ambiance. Cool settings, great sound effects, good score, etc.
-
Lol "rule of honor". People will come up with anything to get a win these days.
I let survivors escape because I like to, not because anyone's going to make me feel obligated to.
-
He's still fun if you have lanes or room to maneuver his chainsaw dash. His speed at getting to gens makes him good at map pressure. He can also run around revving but not committing to the dash which, when mixed with the actual dash, can keep players guessing.
It's hard to take a character that began the game half a decade ago and make him as effective as newer, more complicated characters without arbitrarily making that character more cheap (Wraith).
-
I'm surprised that no one's come here yet to scold anybody for saying that the Wraith is cheap. Usually by now there are at least a few comments along the lines of "he was the worst character ever and he's only just now halfway decent for the first time, just stay by windows and be better at looping and he's still useless. Get good at the game".
-
Phong'meen
It depends on how you phonetically pronounce the letters though. People will see this and think I'm trying to say that her name rhymes with "Bong Lean" (I'm not). In Chinese the syllables wouldn't be drawn out like that, they'd be closer together, her name would be spoken more quickly. It's a subtle but noticeable difference.
For example the classic "Ryu" isn't "Righ You", it's "Reu", with the "e" almost silent. So maybe a better way of writing it out would be "FaungMin", with a sharp "i" like the i in "being", as opposed to a dull i like in the word "disc".
Accurately pronouncing Asian names is difficult, they have different emphasis and inflection. The famed Three Kingdoms general Cao Cao, for example, is pronounced "T'sao T'sao" with the tongue in a different place for the "T"s as it would be if saying "trip".

Honestly, eventually after many years of playing... The "toxic" playstyle is just the fun way to play survivor at this point. Especially after hundreds of toxic killers that resort to face camping and tunneling.... I guess I better just start streaming everything, in case I do get a ban somehow at least i'd have evidence of me just playing the game as intended.
Totally don't agree with this philosophy. "I'm bored playing the game regularly, so instead of moving on and playing a different game, I'll just fill the checklist of actions that I know will bother everyone else".
That sucks.

I missed that getting in on the PTB was part of the question. No, don't get the Steam version for the PTB. The RE chapter goes live for everybody in just 2 weeks if I recall correctly.
But yeah, as was said, the PC version has higher framerates which is always nice. Same game otherwise.

swamp it is the one of the few maps I dislike playing on both sides
Swamp sucks. I get it, it's a swamp, it's not supposed to a wonderful place to run around in, but it's just so...drab, empty, and dull. Someone had a thread a couple of days ago asking how to spruce it up and there were some good ideas. More greenery, some water, etc.
-
Shoot, I didn't even think about that. I was looking forward to hanging onto my firecrackers and so forth. It's a shame that we can't just "lock", say, five items either for post-prestige or even just to keep as an unusable collectible.
-
The only map I think I actually hate is Dead Dawg saloon. I don't like playing it as anybody. I just don't find it fun.
I love Midwich as a survivor but have absolutely no idea how killers get anything done on it.
As survivor I'd probably have to say that I like the swamp maps the least. Not only do I just not like them in general, I find them too open, plain, ugly and boring.

If you're patient, you can get this game for a steal. My buddy bought it for me in March, when it was on sale for $15 bucks, meaning that to fill the game with all of the DLC myself (which was also half off during the main game sale) cost roughly the same as a regular full-priced game. You really do get a lot of content for around $70 dollars.
The Steam sale happened at least once again in the mere few months since the last sale. It MAY go on sale again when the RE content officially launches. Unlike the consoles (including the Switch Lite, which I also have the game on), Steam doesn't charge for a subscription. In my opinion these factors make the Steam version the best one available. Just keep in mind that yes, while there is cross-play, there is not yet cross-PROGRESSION meaning you'll be starting from scratch and having to buy all the desired DLC as I explained above. But, again, if you weigh the cost of purchasing and refilling a second copy of the game against the yearly cost of paying for console servers, it's really not that bad.
Up to you though, of course.

I was looking around and discovered that they want to continue with the implementation of AI in killers, if so, would you like to have it? What is your idea for an AI implementation in future killers or maybe survivors if it happens?
Did you try the AI in the PTB (I'm assuming you did, as you speak with some familiarity of the subject)? It's actually pretty good. There will be people who say that it sucks but as a guy who has always preferred single-player games, I've seen far worse AI in far less complex games. These bots aren't perfect, but the pathfinding and decision-making on both the killer and survivors feels pretty organic and dynamic.
Honestly if they left the AI exactly as it is and just added the ability for players to choose who's in the match as well as which map it takes place on, I would be over the moon. It would be a dream game to me. And if they actually IMPROVE the AI? That's just gravy for the golden mashed potato pile. I can honestly say that I'm more excited about this feature than I am about any DLC. Hell, I'd pay for it as if it were (but don't tell them that I said that). :P
I have no specific wishes in terms of behavior. Just AI that tries to complete its objectives intelligently and carefully, maybe a few selectable difficulty levels, and I'm good to go.

I constantly think about the Spirit vs Hag comparison.
At least the spirit player has to still be actively participating in tracking in order to appear within striking distance of a survivor.
Hag doesn’t need to bother with any tracking at all during a chase. Just wait until a trap is triggered, and everything is almost automatic. Press teleport, press attack, free hit/down. It is infuriating, and it makes me angry and confused as to why Hag has remained the way she is.
There are those who don't agree with you, but I do completely.
"Oh, Hag's the killer in this one? Huh, better just crawl everywhere and never approach gens or hooks then, I guess. Oh look I made the mistake of standing up near this random and 100 percent invisible trap in the weeds. I'm dead now. 4,000 BP? This new rusty toolbox made the five minutes I just waited to not even get to play that match SO worth it".
-
I've gotten a few rude comments from my teammates, still never yet once from a killer.
The comments are always about my playstyle, because I enjoy, and prefer, playing this game in a stealthy or "immersive" manner. I get objectives done, I help out my team, I just have a lot more fun being unseen by the killer while doing so, if I can help it. Here on the forum plenty of killer mains have scolded me for this, some going so far as to say that I shouldn't do it because they (the killers) find it boring and that "chasing is the most important part of this game", but I never hear that from killers online.
I do, however, hear "great job just hiding all match Mike", or "hey thanks for letting me do all the gen-rushing while you were just sneaking around unhooking people", etc.
Interestingly I've had a good number of matches lately where I and only one other survivor are left and (with the help of my aura perks) it would seem that despite "not playing the game" I'm the only guy who still tries to make progress will the other person camps the hatch until I die. So I guess some survivors only hate my playstyle until it enables them, ironically, to do nothing.
-
I'm still practicing with killers, I 90% solo survivor. There are several I haven't tried yet but man, so far I'm really enjoying Plague.
-
I hate Hag. I respect the amount of practice and strategy that goes into using her well enough to be as frustrating as she is. I really do.
...But that makes her really frustrating, lol. I'd rather face Spirit. I honestly would. At least Spirit can't just magically appear instantaneously right next to every damn object I'm required to interact with to have a chance at making any progress in a match.

To be fair, my real issue with this challenge is the do it twice part. Its already hard enough to get people to cleanse as is, so you may not even have many chances to do it.
This is my first challenge I have found that I think is over board. Every other challenge I have complained about, was either me misunderstanding it, or BHVR not knowing how words work. This particular challenge is just WHY?
Yeah, nah, I get you. I was just having fun with the idea that people would find challenges challenging, especially "MASTER" challenges at that. XD
But it's true. There are plenty of challenges left undone in all of my tomes because I see them and think "yeah, I'm really going to use a perk that I hate to do something that's irritatingly down to luck and then do it all over again, ALL within one trial. Sure".
I'll just play two matches NOT doing that and get the same amount of points. :P
-
Lol I remember a match in which a survivor I unhooked immediately went into spasms demanding that I heal him immediately. He was almost a blur, he was bouncing so fast. I said aloud (to myself) "we'll get there, we'll get there. You be patient and wait". To be fair once we got away from the hook and out of view when I DID heal him he did a "thank you" spasm as well.
Self-care is cool, it just takes too damn long. It's somewhat impractical spending time running off to find a safe healing spot and then spending like another half a minute just to do the job. That said I've never bothered powering the perk up, it's probably not so bad at full tier. I've heard a LOT of different opinions though.

I'm gonna be honest, I deliberately adorn my hooks with bright charms just so I can find them. The sheer number of maps that the dark hooks blend into dark backgrounds...
Nah it's fine, I don't blame you. When I play killer I do it too. Somehow (probably just confirmation bias) but when I play killer it seems like all the hooks are miles away. As survivor, there's always one directly behind me. XD

And it is incredibly noticeable so it has the double effect of supporting LGBT+ people's and also showing you where the damn hooks are.
As a survivor main it does kind of concern me that some of the charms (not just this one) can make the hooks stand out more. Then again if a killer has grabbed me the odds of me getting free are already low to begin with.

Personally I'd just be happy if the maps were darkened a bit back down but you bring up a good point.

This is very true. Every player who has chatted with me through this forum or in-game and seemed to be female turned out to be a gay or trans male. Through the various discussions of the charm and whatnot a lot of forum members have also revealed that they were gay. This game has a very large LGBQT playerbase, it would probably surprise a lot of people.
-
I hate that the Rift challenges are challenging! :P
Just kidding. Some of them ARE a little overboard, relying a bit too much on luck and low-chance circumstances. Though, to be fair, with so many tomes and so many challenges within each tome I'm sure that it's got to be tough coming up with a unique, steady flow of "challenging but not impossible" actions for the player to perform.
