Dont really blame them since you're playing arguably the most unfun and poorly designed killer in the game

Cheating is never acceptable. Personally I don't really mind playing against the occasional legion, only bothers me if they show up back to back for several games in a row.

In the case of 4+ Legions in a row, I'll just repair gens and don't really try to do loops etc. At least I'm not ruining his experience and I'm still getting points. One time I did this and the legion refused to hook me and let me do all gens and exit, basically letting me farm while he killed the others. Was pretty bizarre.

Ruin: Heavily punishes new players with little effect on veteran players.

I never really understood how people can say this...

It has just as much of an effect on veteran players as new players because a veteran player hitting 4 great skill checks will progress a non-ruin gen 20%+the amount of seconds he repairs.

You get 5% progression added when hitting great skill checks, but with ruin it does not. The only difference being the shock thing that stops progression all together for a second or two. It affects new players more, but I'd argue that it also has a huge effect on veteran players that would get their gens done 20-30% quicker if they got 4-6 skills checks on the gen.

That being said, I really don't think it's too bad. It forces players to go do totems and potentially getting the location of dull totems just in case of NOED. I find that if a killer runs Ruin and NOED, the NOED get's take down rather quickly, because people have been looking for totems previously.

Great skill checks give 2% progress not 5%. Also veteran players know every totem spawn so can destroy the totem very quickly if nearby.

I don't know why, but my reply to you seems to have vanished. Sorry if I double post...

If it's only 2% then it's not as noticeable, but it's still comparable with having Resilience effect on at all times.

I usually get around 4-5 skill checks per gen, which is 8-10% faster.

Oh, it's only 2%? I mean it still noticeable if you get 4-5(8-10% faster) skill checks, usually only get 2-3(4-6%) maybe 4(8%) though, unless you are lucky\unlucky I guess.

But not nearly as bad then, no. But considering things like Resilience, gives you a 9% speed increase when you're injured, it's still something that you would notice.

I'm not 100% sure if it translates like that though, does it?

    5 great skill checks = 10%
Is this the exact same as if you had 10% speed increase and only hit good skill checks?

They need to give out as many envelopes as they did pustulas for starters, maybe it's just that I was so new when the halloween event started and didn't have any 50 characters and got them faster...

But it doesn't help the fact that people change the way they play, the amount of SC+UE I've seen is too damn high.

People sit on gens and let you go through multiple hook phases way to often right now. Fixing 5 gens gives 10 points while escaping with one lantern gives you 25, massive incentive to play selfish.

I'm not a huge fan of this event.

    doing 5 gens gives u 20 points not 10 ;)

Oh, you get 4 pts per gen? my bad, 20 then... but point still applies in regards to escape with one lantern = better then fixing all gens.

It was still bugged when I played last night so didn't get any progress anyway!

  • Solo survivor games now are horrible, I've been left to die on the hook more than once already.

People not wanting to risk their friggen lamps.

  • To be honest, not at all.

What annoyed me was when playing survivor solo because I wanted to try get the lamp, and nobody unhooked me because they didn't want to lose their lamp\get gens done for coins\points.

Yesterday was the same for me on PC. Got lobby dodged a lot. Two killer disconnected right when the game even started too.. Like, what.

Survivor and killer lobbies are instant on PC though. SWF is like a minute, which is great.

-If you play as 2 people on ps4, queue is very fast, solo is also very fast. Want to play 3 people or more? ######### OFF!

This ######### is so consistent now, we queued up and started watching Netflix and just gave up after watching a full 45 min episode without getting into a match. If you queue after 20:00-21:00, it's impossible to get into a game, as SWF.

  • OMFG FINALLY!

    • A passive killer buff for every SWF member in the game might be able to fix this problem, something like Freddy's Fire Up perk or something that at least turns the table back a little bit, that way it's not a flat out buff against solo player games!

Could be very interesting, I don't see what they could buff though in terms of speed or whatever without it being broken.

    • Maybe give killers more BP for engaging SWF teams, 'cause even that usually sucks, there is no rewards for doing it so why bother?

I've always been a huge fan of the idea of giving the killer bonus points when playing against SWF, I've heard the idea before and I'm all for it. Because it doesn't nerf the survivors in any way or buff the killer, as I don't believe that this game had such a huge issue with HC-SWF teams as they do now. It definitely was an issue, but now the issue is making people quit the game.

    • Or just an option to not play against SWF teams would be an option as well! At least when the SFWers get a lobby they know they got one!

I don't really like this idea too much, but I definitely see what you are getting at. I just don't like the idea of having "I want to play against something easy this time" button.

    @NoShinyPony said:

Bottom line: We need more killer players. Issues that prevent people from playing killer need to be fixed.

I definitely agree that the issue is around the number of killers. Number of killers willing to play against SWFs.

But I do think that it is slightly exaggerated that killers don't stand a chance against a HC-SWF, you definitely can still win, it's just going to be incredibly hard compared to non-SWFs or even casual SWFs.

I'm not exaggerating. When it comes to facing SWFs, there are so many variables:

    • Which character is the killer using? While a very good nurse can deal with pretty much everything, it's a completely different thing for Freddy.

    • Which items are brought into the game? Perk loadouts? 4 DS, 3 insta-heals combined with some Deliverance and Unbreakable? That consumates a lot of the killer's time.

And that's the point: Consuming the killer's time. The killer can down a survivor super quick, but a DS will always give the surv a certain amount of extra time. An insta-heal will always give the surv a certain amount of extra time. Deliverance... and so on. It's about the amount of those extra time-events which combined all together take to much of the killer's time.

It's not about one single DS. We don't have to talk about killers complaining that a single DS made them lose their game.

Btw: I play more surv than killer.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that...

My point being that the HC-SWF group you described is probably less then 1% of all HC-SWF groups. I have NEVER met a group with 4 DS, 3 insta heals combined with deliverance and unbreakable. Maybe it's just this way on ps4, but I really have a hard time believing that this is what you meet most of the time. I don't know enough about the PC meta to have an opinion, other then I know PC has always been more tryhard then console in everything I've played.

one maybe two DSs, one maybe two insta heals, never as hardcore as you describe, that is the point I'm trying to make. If you play 100 games and one of them is like this, then there is absolutely no need to start lobby dodging every SWF you see.

I also play mostly survivor, BTW. But I used to play 5-6 hours per day, so 1-2 hours per day as killer, until my friends came online and we SWF. I honestly don't play killer at all anymore as I only played killer to get points on my survivors, but when I can't SWF I see no point to play this game as killer, don't see a point in playing at all to be completely honest. The grinding in this game becomes meaningless if you can't use whatever it is you're grinding with friends. For me personally at least.

True, maybe the BP idea or otherwise just make the Entity less demanding, because a lot of people want a fun game and advance in rank (eventually), But SWF groups (the good ones) can fudge you over hard, so making the Entity less "Displeased" will save your ranking a little bit!

I don't really know how that would help....Because chances are you will meet a good SWF more often at higher ranks.

Maybe they could prevent you from losing pips, but I feel like that is almost impossible to do as killer unless you down nobody and hit nobody. Could just be the fact that I know how to deal with all loops and eventually down a survivor in 2-3 mins tops. It's probably been a week or so since last time I was mindgamed so hard they got all gens done before I got one survivor down. Happens so rarely and they really need to get extremely lucky with their mind games, I don't really mind it.

Being in chase in this game is what's fun to me, chasing a really good survivor or being chased by a really good killer is where the excitement lies.

You are blaming the game at that point and not yourself, and I'm 100% sure that everyone that complains about SWF aren't playing 100% perfectly and are doing mistakes that they refuse to admit to because HC-SWF. I've seen threads of people complaining that they FINALLY get one person down and 1 gen left, then he has DS and killer loses the game with 0 kills. Then they go ahead to blame the DS user for their loss, when in fact they would have lost anyway because they were just that much better.

This video proves that even the most toxic survivors are beatable on any map with any killer- https://youtu.be/t8u0jRxN2kQ

  • Legion is the only killer I genuinely hate playing against.

I also hate playing against Billy, even though I've learned how to VS him now... I still hate his ######### ugly face.

I really enjoy playing against anyone who doesn't use cookie cutter builds, people who don't go to a tierlist and just use whatever is top tier and actually try to make their own builds. I always compliment them after the game ends because it's a breath of fresh air, even if their build sucks they still get a "thanks for a good and fun game" from me.

  • @NoShinyPony said:
I don't think that the matchmaking is buggy. There are probably not enough people playing killer at the moment. As killer, I get instant lobbies. As solo surv, I have to wait one or few minutes. Waiting times for SWF are even longer, of course.

Playing killer should be made more attractive so that more people are interested in playing this role.

I'm starting to suspect the same thing.

My theory so far is this:

TOXIC SWF teams, cause killers to become lobby dodgers.

lobby dodgers cause regular SWF teams to become toxic.

queue non-toxic casual SWF 3-4 times into a lobby dodger.

non-toxic SWF quits the game entirely, effectively turning the toxic SWF teams into the majority because they are more willing to put up with queue times then a casual player.

So now, we have so many lobby dodgers, and so many TOXIC SWF teams, that it's almost impossible to enjoy the game as both survivor and killer.

I do not think that it is either survivors or killers fault, we are all at fault for not being nice to each other. If you are the type of person to say anything but GGs etc. in post game chat, you are part of the problem.

I hope BHVR keeps the banhammer strong when it comes to toxic people in this game, because they are ruining it.

TLDR; I think many of the nice people in this game have quit or are taking a break, effectively making queues horrible and the games you get into as well.

  • They are both 100% identical in terms of speed, it's all in the animation.

I main Feng Min atm, simply because I got all the perks on her and nobody else.

I usually cancel all Survivor dailies, because killer dailies are more consistent. But one time, I had rescue 3 survivors with David King so I figured I'd slap on WGLF and do it.

Probably been a month since I played a male character and I actually felt like the game was slowed down entirely. It really feels very different and weird when used to the female model.

All survivors have to do to avoid Freddy's endgame is split up and not get seen. Freddy can't cover the whole map.

Split up and not get seen, is like saying don't get hit...

You can't split up and not get found and do gens all at the same time, if you split up then 4 of the 7 gens have a target on them.

Besides, a lot of Freddys use class photo of 94'95 or whatever. He is such a bad killer without addons, but with addons he is extremely hard to deal with.

Freddy is by far the worst killer in Dead by Daylight. The only real purpose of his power is to remove the hindrance he has by default (can't interact with survivors), and he gets cucked by the most used perks in the game (Self care, Sprint burst and Adrenaline). He's the only killer that has to give a up to 9.5 seconds head start to his targets, who can, by the way, keep doing whatever they were doing right in his face without him being able to do anything about it. He's even less than your regular M1 killer (like the Doctor or the Trapper). He has a laughable stealth and the most basic-ass offense you can think of, that pretty much only kinda works if the survivors ignore him during the transition. He's so bad that he can't even camp. He has no way to stop/punish hookrushing, bad positioning or stupid plays by survivors in general. And, as we all know, killers win if the survivors play non-optimally or if they make silly mistakes... I don't think you people realize that Freddy is the only killer that can't capitalize on these situations. No matter how you "mindgame" survivors you still have to wait 7 seconds to hit them. If a survivor is anything but braindead, they will run to the nearest pallet/loop, and proceed to stall you for 5 generators.
Every other killer is far better than Freddy, because they don't take nearly as [BAD WORD] long to take action against survivors.

But, but, endgame Freddy build is awesome....

    Remember me
    NOED
    Bitter Murmur
Somewhat flex perk, but Fire Up works pretty well because of all 5 gens done, go BBQ if you want points.

Even though all you say is true, it can be near impossible for a team to exit through the gates. If you get 6 stacks on it and you make sure everyone is healed as the last gen gets done, run bitter murmur and sleep everyone on the last gen. Exit gates will be insanely slow and you have NOED.

Freddy makes has the best endgame because of his ability, can't really get out of sleep when everyone's healed and no gens to be done. Somewhat wonky to pull off I guess.

It can be very hard to get anything done with Freddy, but his snowball potential is real.

  • TLDR; The tombstone combo is so hard to pull off, unless survivors are completely potato you will not get a 4k.

This in turn balances it out quite a bit, learn how to LOS so he can't stalk.

OH MY GOD, I HATE THAT. Something that happened to me yesterday:

I was playing a pig and one person disconnected, I put the other two on hooks and the last one left was Claudette, slowly crouching around and I only had one perk and could NOT find her. I finally messaged the guy, and he replied with,

'I'm waiting for you to d/c.'

I was like, are you [BAD WORD] serious right now. But he was, he was waiting for me to d/c because he had a purple flashlight and didn't want to lose it. Like, what the hell? I reported him, obviously, but I'm sure it'll go ignored.

On one had, I understand that he wanted to keep his purp flashlight. But on the other, not doing gens and admitting to waiting for you to D\C is pretty much taking the game hostage instead of doing objectives.

You can report him and action will(most likely) be taken, maybe not a severe one but he will get punished and hopefully not do it again.

I hate it when people say that. The game isn't meant to be played so you die on first hook, that's why there are 3 hooks before death. Sure, you COULD leave them and win, but it would be so boring as the other 3 survivors would have no challange and only be on gens, and the killer and the survivor hooked wouldnt be doing anything. It's the most boring strat, and you win by literally boring everyone to death

As a survivor, you are simply 25% of the team. If you are not willing to sacrifice 25% (AKA yourself) of the team for 75% of team to escape, you are simply a selfish player.

Only really bad killers do this, because it only works on bad survivors.

Exactly. But people try to compare both perks with eachother but they don't get that it's not about comparing both, it's about removing unfun stuff. Whatever, 2019 and still nothing changed. I'm losing hope tbh.

They wont remove a perk. Just change it.
And i dont think NOED needs to get changed. It punishes not going for totems

4 months after the NOED buff and people are still not cleansing totems btw.

    That's survivors fault.

And it's the survivors who refuse to do dull totems and yell at you for doing dull totems, that actually complain about NOED.

I ran small game for a while when I was new just to learn all the spawns, did this for about a month and now I don't need it to be a totem destroying machine!

The satisfaction you get when that endscreen hits and you see the killer had NOED is top notch.

I cleanse most totems I come across but consider this Mr. Genius Man. Maybe just maybe it's pretty difficult to find all 5 totems in a single match as 1 survivor. You do not know how many have been cleansed either unless you're in full SWF and generally looking and cleansing totems is a huge waste of valuable time. Even with SG unless you're playing SWF you will never know if there's still 1 left and you are literally forced to run across the map with your little perk, trying to make sure there's none left.

First off, it's not that hard to find all 5 totems, definitely not with SG. If you have to do all 5 then hopefully your team did all 5 gens. Getting dull totems is never a waste unless you are certain there is no NOED, only way you can confirm it now is by figuring out all four of his perks by playing.

It doesn't sound like you've used SG, unless you are playing on certain maps and keep looking around you, you will quickly scout the entire map and confirm that there are no more left, yes... even without doing all 5 yourself... Try using the perk before making up your mind.

  • SWF dodging is going to kill this game, it almost already has...The fact that SWF is so toxic right now is a result of SWF dodging.

Most people who are casual players have already quit because SWF is not an option. Who in their right mind will continue to play a game with 10-15 minute queue times? Only toxic tryhards that don't care about the wait time.

If SWF is not an option, I'm not going to play killer, not going to play solo, not going to play duo, I'm going to play something else.

I keep coming back to these forums in hopes of learning that these issues will be fixed, but this very thread makes me think that this is not in the near future.

  • What is the event going to be like, if it was the same last year?

I'm newish, didn't play back then.

  • I have to reluctantly agree with this, having cosmetics be season locked makes them feel way more worth it...even though I like that I can buy the ones that I wasn't here for, I started in Oktober 2018 so there is probably something that I already bought that was from an event without even knowing it.

Bhvr even gives you the option to grind them out and not spend a dime, which is cool. As someone who hasn't been here for years like I know many of you have, I'm torn between both sides of this argument.

I just really wish they brought back the legacy skins, and added one for everyone. I want a Feng Min legacy skin :(

  • Call me crazy, but I believe the tracking part of BBQ should be built in to all killers.

You're doing all the work for the entity, the least it could do is show you where the other survivors location is for a couple sec after each hook.

BBQ in reality makes the game go more smoothly. If a killer is running it, more often than not he will not camp unless he doesn't see anyone on the BBQ proc.

It makes for more speedy games and it's easier to save most of the time, since the killer quickly gets into another chase and you can unhook safely. When I play killer, I'll go after those who show up on BBQ, leaving the survivor completely. If the survivor is unhooked before I find someone else, I'm going to return to that place simply because it's all the information I have. You know there are at least two survivors back there and you have nobody in front of you. See what I'm getting at?

I've run Distortion and it works perfectly as a counter for the tracking, those few times when you see a survivor downed and can not reach a locker by the time he gets to the hook , you can rely on this perk.

But, that could screw your hooked teammate over since the likelihood of a killer camping is vastly increased when he doesn't see anyone on BBQ proc.

Best case scenario is when whomever is close make sure they don't show up on BBQ by going to a locker or sneaking up close to the hook, then the killer sees someone far off on BBQ and hightails it over there. In that case, you don't necessarily want to have distortion....

    TLDR; "git gud"

why do u camp and then laugh at ppl when they get toxic towards you. That in itself is being more toxic than the ones messaging you because u instigated all of it. Something needs to be done about camping it’s a no skill cheap tactic for killers who don’t know how to actually win chases or kill anyone

Plenty of counters to camping, the best one is to ignore the survivor being camped and do gens and escape.

Nah sorry that’s just an a hole thing to do. At least 1 person could attempt to save them. It’s completely unfair to basically get no points for the round because u weren’t allowed to do anything

It really isn't unfair though, you sacrifice yourself for your three teammates. A killer needs two kills for it to be considered a "win".

If you get found first and then camped, you should just tell your team to finish gens and escape. If you expect your team to come and help you with a basement camping leatherface, you are simply being selfish.

Nobody gets out of a camping bubba's basement. Simple as that.

Ask yourself as a survivor, if you rely on self care would doubling or tripling the time required make you stop using it?

I never use self care, after the nerf that is. I only ever used it in the very beginning when learning the game. Takes way to long, I'd rather do a different build where I can get my heals in other ways.

One method I've been using a lot lately is running Pharmacy, coupled with Ace in the hole. Guarantees you a green medkid with one or two add ons. If you want to you can run Plunderers instinct as well and just open all the chests and give them to fellow survivors.

An extremely fun build, to be honest.

Other then that, you can use bond or even a key with survivor tracking. Using adrenaline with iron will and just skip healing all together.

Only reason it is used so much is because of how easy it is to utilize the perk. If you can't get gens done adrenaline wont pop and it's a wasted slot. This is not the case with selfcare, but it still takes way to long for it to be anything other than mediocre at best.

I haven't prestiged anyone yet, as I'm still on my teachable perks grind. But I'm probably just going to stop going for Blood Points so hard once I get everything and skip the bloody skins. They not cool AF.

    >

I don't really mind that, the game isn't much about hiding and avoiding the killer when playing at higher ranks. Tracking perks and know-how killers make it suboptimal, and you don't get gens done by hiding.

Either I'm in a chase or I'm doing gens. With that being my playstyle I don't really need to be able to hide. Besides, I don't know if my team knows how to extend the chase effectively, in my group of friends that I play with only two of us know how to do this. Staying hidden until you get found just to figure out that someone wasted all the pallets also sucks.

But in any case, I think it could go both ways. A killer sees bloody or legacy skins and avoids the target because they know they can loop, compared to someone in a vanilla skin.

If I play as killer and see two survivors, a blendette and a bloody jake or whatever, I'm 100% going for the blendette.

There is no reason, it's random. If it's not random, they will never chose it because it's literally the only reason most people buy my guy Bubba.

I'm one of them. Bought him in Christmas sales, very cheap DLC for two good perks, BBQ and Franklins. I only played him 3 or 4 games, the rest of the time I leveled him using another killer. Poor Bubba.

I really enjoy playing him to be honest. One of my fav killers.

For those times when I just want to go brain-dead killer. He is such an easy killer to use if you have some speed add ons on your chainsaw.

Billy can eat a dick. Bubba for life!

It took awhile for me to realize how fun it is to have a simple killer, helps a lot when you stop caring about winning or rank and just want to chase people with a big tummy and a chainsaw. Farming them points!

If you played Ark official PvP I don't believe that you have not received a single message, lol. Unless you where a super good guy that never killed anyones dinos or raided anyone. That game is literally the worst in regards to other players messing up your progress, which is why I believe that game is so cutthroat and becomes Toxic because of it. That game is the best worst game I've ever played.

I do agree that the toxicity is on a completely different level in DbD, I believe it's because of the reasons you stated but also one more key point, most people don't play both killer and survivor at the same rank. This makes people extremely one sided, and since the difference between surviving and killing is so huge, a lot of hate gets thrown to the opposite side.

Saw a reddit thread a while back, "What game has the worst community". DbD was nr 1 on toxicity...It is known that this game has the worst community by people who haven't even touched this game.

Ohh of course there is toxicity in ARK but I didn't get a single profile comment in all that playtime. The toxicity stays ingame, no one cares about your "steam identity". Same in Dota 2 or CSGO, you get flamed in one match but they only very rarely head over to your steam profile to insult you. In DbD it's like normal (almost exclusively for Survivors, I gotta say) to head over to the Killers profile and insult them. A bit cringy imo :) ...but as I said, that's another story

Interesting, these things aren't really applicable to how we play on PS4 and Xbox. As you HAVE to go through someone's profile to even send a message, there is no way to communicate ingame, no post game chat.

I always suspected that this makes people less likely to send hateful messages, a very small but effective barrier. And yes, it's almost always survivors messaging killers, not the other way around.

I think I only had that happen to me once as survivor, that a killer called me "baby survivor, easiest 4k of my life" or something like that. Thing is, I was also playing solo and I'm certain the killer thought we were SWF, as he mentioned my friends also being bad and that we should just uninstall the game etc.

Getting so mad that you feel the need to go out of your way to trash talk someone is indeed extremely cringy. This is a game and a game where winning or losing really doesn't affect you at all, other then Blood Points I guess. Other games have some sort of incentive to win other than simply being the winner, or getting high rank simply to be high ranked.

  • Oh man, my guy....You have just been jebaited.

I'm 100% certain that you must have used foul language when replying to these dudes that messaged you post game.

Reason I'm certain, is this exact thing happened to me. I was lagging or something one day, because I got tonnes of messages accusing me of lagswitching.

It got to a point where I could not play a single game without getting a message, so I replied. A lot of bad words and in general blowing off the steam accumulated from all the other messages.

This guy reported everything to SONY and I got a warning for breaking the TOS. If I do it again they might ban my PSN account which I have probably upwards of 300 games on it now, unacceptable for me to lose this.

I've since put up a restriction, only my friends can message me now. If someone sends me a friend request with complaining about my gameplay, I'll just report the request.

I really like playing HIM becuse i like him from the movie, but his perks our very bad. Do you ever see anyone using wake up or pharmacy, i don't. I have Some ideas, maybe with pharmacy you can find a Purple Medkit to, or you always find a medkit. Do you have any other ideas, comment them down!

Not many builds work with Quentins perks and most likely there is something "better" out there.

But if you are like me and play only for fun, I'd definitely get all his perks except for Vigil maybe. Vigil is his level 40 perk so you can skip it until you've got everything you want.

Pharmacy = guaranteed green medkit (never get anything else, always green) on your first chest, rest of them only receive the quicker searching bonus and removes sound queue for a certain range.

I really love running, pharmacy - ace in the hole - plunderers instinct - exhaustion perk of choice.

Then I just run around looting all the chests and give items to my squad. It's really fun and rewarding, my squad loves it when I go loot and bring them #########.

When it comes to Wake Up, this perk is also very niche. I see plenty of high end players run this perk combined with Hope and Adrenaline. Increased speed for 2 minutes, insta heal and faster opening of gates as soon as the last gen is finished. Thing is, you don't need Wake Up for this build to be good, it's still good without it.

More of a "I want everything for endgame" type of perk I guess.

I have not found a good use for Vigil yet.

That being said, I don't know if you are new or not, only see 8 posts...But in the end survivors are just skins, there is nothing stopping you from using all the best perks on Quentin in the end, once you unlock them all that is.

Basically never. I'm not some hardass killer

I might get a sacrifice or two. 3? maybe. I do need blood points, you know.

    Like I said, I'm not 4k crazed.
I'd rather let a person have the hatch unless they've been toxic. I'd rather avoid a hatch standoff.

    Like I said, I'm a goofball casual.

Well, getting a 4k is the equivalent of everyone escaping...Not to be a dickhead, but...If neither of these things happen in your games or seldom do, what are you complaining about? Your games sound like they are exactly where you want them to be, getting two maybe three kills.

    What more do you want?

Sidenote, if you have been lobby dodging every SWF, then you will most likely be in a rank where even solo survivors are extremely strong compared to your skill level. A rank 20 SWF is like a rank 15 solo group etc.

You are doing yourself a disservice by ranking up too quickly, because you are dodging SWFs which is one of the main reasons most people lose pips.

I am complaining because SWFs are usually tryhard as hell, abuse match making to get easier games, and abuse external help (I.E. external voice chat) to gain an unfair advantage. This proposal is geared towards making me play these people, or I get longer wait times.
The fact that SWF is getting more and more common is making things worse. They will make me regret every Auric cell I ever bought. Or make me survivor only.

SWF tilts things badly towards 0k-1k. I may as well AFK against these people. It makes it really hard to earn decent blood points, or do anything. Zero fun.
And being in lower ranks, I'm a prime target for these people.

I'm not doing anything to look for easy games.I'm not some depipping rank 1 veteran, here.
I'm looking for -fair- games. Once I know the deck isn't being stacked against me, I don't care too much about what happens win or lose. That's what I want. Problem is SWF taints that badly.

Yeap, I slowed down playing a lot lately. I don't even consider trying to outrace rank reset.
And I agree, SWFs often do play well above the rank/skill of the killer they vs. Usually because they mix ranks to the point that they have several colors in their team.
This is problematic because I have a crap amount of perks, a near insignificant arsenal of addons, and almost zero Mori.
It's not a matter of improving skills, it's more getting fair games, and seeing what happens. SWF basically makes that goal a joke. I know what will happen. They will have a big brother runner, or two, likely a full color or two of rank above me, they will get super immersed by broadcasting my location so they're hard to find, and they will coordinate like hell to make sure I get stomped.

In short, I'd like a lot of fair games. I play casually, not sweaty. SWF is often not fair. This proposal is deciding I get punished if I dodge unfair/SWF games.

I've started to suspect that most of the SWF squads that are left are the most toxic ones, I know our swf group is dying. None of us have the time to spend 15 mins in queue only for someone like you who think we are a toxic sabo squad dodge us and we spend another 15 mins in queue, just hoping that the next killer won't dodge.

The whole dodging thing, is making the SWF squads you meet, more sweaty. Because only sweaty people are willing to spend 15 minutes in queue for the off chance they get into a game or another 15 min queue. I also want to play casually, both survivor and killer. But these swf queues are making me not want to play the game at all, killer, solo, duo, whatever.

That being said, I was beyond extremely disappointed and sad that they did not fix the queue with yesterday's patch. Either they didn't fix it, or it is simply too late because most people stopped playing already. I'm not playing this game until they fix the queues and I know I'm not the only one. I've stopped purchasing anything in the game, I bought Legion and Jeff with shards just to save a pretty penny. I refuse to support this game when it will not let me play it with my friends.

I'm playing on the same steam account since 10 years and I didn't receive a single profile comment until I started with DbD. I have 3000 hours in Dota 2; 2000 hours in ARK PvP and several hundred hours in other PvP games (CS, CoD,...).

But the toxicity in DbD is another story, not really relevant to the topic (and neither is SWF now that I think about it).

I think we ended up here because people compared "deranking on purpose" with "lobby dodging" which lead to SWF = dodge, which lead to SWF = unfun, which lead to "no one cares about the opposite sides fun".

You simply have to stop caring about those messages, people are going to get salty in DbD because of how it is designed.

Like you mentioned, people base their opinions off of their own experiences. If they've never experienced playing killer and that as a killer you need to hang around the hook if you know there is someone there right now.

The killer has to camp or he is gimping himself and the survivors ONLY see that he is camping, not what they are doing themselves, which effectively gives him no other option then to camp or throw the game.

In the end, you simply can not care about other people's fun. That's not your responsibility, that's Behaviours responsibility. There is a difference between being a dick, and not caring about other people's fun, though.

  • @PiiFree said:

It's just sad that such a huge percentage of killers don't realize this and base their entire SWF experience on those few games where they were vastly outskilled and it being a SWF. Even at rank 1 you rarely have people sacrificing their teammates, and I suspect that is because rank 1 people don't give a ######### about rank and a lot of them have p3 everything so they don't care about BPs either.

Just because the match ends with a 4k doesn't mean it was enjoyable for the Killer. If it takes me 5 gens to get a hook, that match was certainly not a funny experience for me. Yes, I might get lucky and 4k them, this is a very satisfying ending but the overall experience was just ######### because of those SWFs.

I played in and against many different SWFs and they all have one thing in common. They all claim: "We just play for fun!". Thing is, they don't realize that their fun usually comes at the cost of the Killers fun. I'm guilty of this myself, when I played in a SWF with voice communication I always tried to be that guy to run the Killer for ages while keeping everyone updates about their doings and failures. I did it because it's fun for us and I knew that I was playing with competent players that will be there to safe me or push through gens while I get camped. We will win if the Killer tried to ruin our fun. if the Killer was actually skilled and managed to stomp us, we'd get upset and call them sweaty tryhard.

From my experience, that's exactly how most SWFs play like. They might not be toxic per se but they still only care about their own fun, 4x escape is their number one priority and the Killers experience is mostly irrelevant, which is why I understand Killers that dodge them. If the Killer kills them, they're tryhards that don't know how to play for fun ect....

It's my reflection after 2000 hours of playtime. SWFs are more likely to ruin the opposite players experience than the other way around.

I mean, in what game does anyone care about other people's fun? Especially in a PvP game.

Some people do think it's fun to be a toxic sabo squad with comms as if they where a SWAT team, but I suspect they are in the minority. I've not spent even close to what you have, I started playing in Oktober and have probably spent 3-4 hours on average every day since then only very recently being turned off due to the ######### up queue times for SWF. But, during that time I quickly got to rank 1 and have been playing at this rank for most of my gametime.

My experience with SWFs is the opposite of yours, most of them are just altruistic suicide squads that are farming BP or just goofing around having fun. Also, I play on PS4 so there is no post game chat. This removes a lot of toxicity as people are usually angry or salty after a "bad game"(example being a SWF hugging the hooked survivor and you camp because of this, then they all die because of this) and simply lash out in the post game chat because it's there and available.

On ps4 you need to create a chat room and invite the player you want to chat with (you can block all invites, btw), resulting in hardly anyone bothering with endgame chat toxicity.

Also a side-note, If the killer is bad enough I know that some players will turn toxic because of this, simply because they are bad themselves and never actually get to be toxic. Friend of mine admitted to this one time and I told him to ######### off with that #########.
