Thanks for the vid, will watch it later.
A lot of 4k's happen randomly due to incompetence or overaltruism of survivors.
I often have matches where I get one hook when the gates are powered and I still ended up with a 4k in the end because they want the 4x escape so badly. It's more that Killers had ONE chance for the 4k while Survivors had 100 chances for a 3x escape but apparently 3x escape is not enough, so they throw the game and end up with no escapes at all. "Survivors never had a chance" is a very rare case in Rank 1, for a 4k it requires 4 survivors to mess up.
Your welcome, it is a gamechanger for those who don't know how to deal with these loops already. I admit I was doing the window loop at shack that he shows how to avoid really easily. I guess I was just under the impression that shack was OP, because of how many people say it is. I can deal with the shack loop which was giving me way too much trouble.
In your example of getting one hook when gates are powered or even opened and still getting a 4k, that is exactly what I mean about not every SWF being toxic or unbeatable. Very few SWFs will willingly sacrifice one of their team and you end up getting more kills then you should have. When me and my mates play swf, I'm often one to sacrifice myself because I got most of the perks that I want. In reality, I play way worse with my friends then I do when solo.
It's just sad that such a huge percentage of killers don't realize this and base their entire SWF experience on those few games where they were vastly outskilled and it being a SWF. Even at rank 1 you rarely have people sacrificing their teammates, and I suspect that is because rank 1 people don't give a ######### about rank and a lot of them have p3 everything so they don't care about BPs either.

That's not going to happen.
Instead killer should get maybe some haste boost or something else when they are forced to play against 3-4 swf group. Some kinda "counter" against teamspeak there could be...Balance the game towards the top 5-10% of SWF groups, that's a good idea.....
Most SWF groups I meet are basically altruistic suicide squads that will do anything for a WGLF stack, the odd TACTICAL NAVY SEAL team is just a really hard challenge every now and then.

So its fine that a good killer wins only if the survivors suck?
Depends entirely on your definition of winning. 4k, then yes.

Hell, just yesterday someone made a video about how to deal with every single loop in the game as killer and had JenDenise (Pretty sure most people here know who Jendenise is and that she is insane) play as survivor and play VS him just to show how even a survivor with 7000 hours on the game can be beaten within 1-2 minutes of chasing, unless you suck and get mindgamed at every loop.Do you have a link to said video?
Sure do mate,

I recommend everyone to take the time to watch this, survivor or killer doesn't matter. It's extremely useful information.@inkedsoulz said:
2 minutes is more than enough for the rest of the team to finish 3 gens.
So if the killer plays every loop perfect and is never mindgamed, like you said a good survivor will go down in around 2 minutes. Thing is, if you chase someone for around 2 minutes, you already lost the game.
No matter what the killer does or how good he/she is, they cant really win when vsing good survivors.
Just shows how strong survivors are on this game, when there is only 1 killer that can be reliable on dictating the pace of the game.
If you do chase someone for 2 minutes, and they do 3 gens you are still on pace to win in the eyes of Behaviour who has balanced this game towards getting two kills. Getting a 4k is like getting a flawless victory in a fighting game, by getting 4k the survivors never had a chance.

You mean sth like swf nullifying knock out or more like Ds nullifying the killers achievement down a survivor?SWF doesn't counter knockout, "I'm by the L-walls close to the gate." you still have to look for him..."well, where tf is that?"
Hardly an argument....If anything should be argued in regards to knockout, it should be that it is broken when players are NOT in SWF. If the killer only slugs, never hooks, it's going to be incredibly time consuming to run around the entire map looking or trying to hear the downed survivors.
DS "nullify the achievemnt down a survivor" <- doesn't make sense, but i'll try to respond.
DS, has to hit a hard skillcheck to be successful and has a one time use. To be fair to your point, DS "nullifies" one of the two hits required to down a survivor, by using this hard to hit skillcheck one time use ability. Still, far from being a broken counter, it is as soft as it can be without being removed. They could maybe reduce the stun duration from 3-3.5-4 to 2-2.5-3, but it wouldn't make much of a difference. People will still complain about this until it's removed or reworked, simply because of how devastating it CAN be when a really good survivor runs it. Key point here being a REALLY GOOD SURVIVOR, as in they would run circles around you if you don't know how to do loops as killer anyway. In reality, DS effectively gives you one extra health state once per game, hardly anything broken in and of itself. My reasoning for this is because if you imagine you got hit instead of downed the second hit, you would get a sprint burst and distance that would be equal to that of a DS stun, maybe a little bit less.
If SWF and DS really is that hard for you, you simply need to practice chasing as a killer more. It really isn't going to make or break the game, which is what an unbalanced perk\add on or whatever will do.
If a survivor sucks and has DS, he will not win against a good killer.
If a survivor sucks and is in SWF, he will not win against a good killer. -

Depends on the survivor, a bad survivor will probably go down very fast after using DS, but a good survivor....
They will take you for a ride even if you have Enduring. And lets not talk about the unsuspected DS's(the one's that are not the obsesion)....
I mean, it's supposed to do that though...depend on the survivors skill and killers I guess (in the form of trying to place the DS far away from hooks, dribbling a little or something.)
@PandaChris example of a perfect counter is in my opinion a broken counter.
Having something in game that simply nullifies something else (Enduring removing the effects of DS entirely for example) would be extremely unfun.

A whole bunch of stuff
I agree that quoting becomes ridiculous after a while...anyways!
As someone who's both rank 1 survivor and rank 1 killer, have been ever since I started the game. First three weeks of playing the game as survivor only I managed to get to rank 1 survivor. Next reset I started playing killer as well and hit rank 1 on both for the first time, my second season of being introduced to this game. Once you know the meta, it's not that hard. Once you know how to catch every survivor within 2 minutes maximum, it's really not as hard as many killers should make it seem.
To get into a toxic swf game, that doesn't happen often enough to warrant getting SO fussed up about it. It can not be compared to the 45 minute wait time, the odd time you get into a game vs toxic survivors.
That is my point. If you think that getting into swf groups.... OK, let's be real. It's not just SWF groups that you are having trouble against, it's good survivors that play as a group. You do not need voice comms for this. Some survivors just know certain things. For instance, If I'm across the map sitting on a gen, and you get hooked...I'm going to leave you hanging, even if I don't know where any of the other survivors are. Sure, there is a slight chance that you will either go to second phase or even die, but chances are way higher that there is at least one other survivor closer then I. Having voice comms doesn't make or break the game, like many would make it seem. You don't need to be in swf to make the killers day a living hell. The odd game you can get 4 rando survivors that will gen rush as hard as if they where swf, maybe even harder then most SWFs because most SWFs suck. If you still think that most SWFs are toxic genrushing machines, you are dead wrong. You are letting those few games dictate your entire experience with DbD.
If you think it's comparable to be in even 45 minutes of PURE toxic SWFness to 45 minute lobby simulator, you obviously have not played enough on both sides. Either not enough survivor to waste enough time in lobby, or enough killer to actually not get ######### in the ass all the time.
If you really do feel like you are wasting your time, then you should simply stop playing like a lot of people are doing right now. But to put this blame on survivors is completely pointless. I mean, it's not like I'm blaming killers for these queue times, only the dodging part of it.
I believe that there is a although small, but yet important, part of the reason for killers dodging lobbies is simply that they are not that good at the game.
Hell, just yesterday someone made a video about how to deal with every single loop in the game as killer and had JenDenise (Pretty sure most people here know who Jendenise is and that she is insane) play as survivor and play VS him just to show how even a survivor with 7000 hours on the game can be beaten within 1-2 minutes of chasing, unless you suck and get mindgamed at every loop.
Which is exactly what 99% of every single person I've discussed this with seems to keep forgetting, if you are in a chase for longer than a minute or two, you've lost this chase.
I feel like I'm wasting my time when 15 min to get to a lobby then dodged as survivor, so I've quit the game. Waiting eagerly for them to fix. If you feel like you're wasting your time in anything, you should not keep giving them your time.

Perfect counter means "perfect counter". Means "complete prevention of negative effects", instead of "partial mitigation of negative effects".
It does not take 70 seconds to remove all totems. It can take up to 70 seconds (14x5) to remove all totems, if a single Survivor is working on totems, but it can also take just 28 seconds to do it if they all work on totems. Just like it can take up to 400 seconds to repair generators (5x80) if a single Survivor is repairing them, but it can also take just 160 seconds to repair them if they all work on generators - and that's not including progression bonuses from skill checks, perks, and toolboxes.Juggling only works if there's a hook nearby, and even then it's still not a perfect counter - body blocking will screw you over.
Slugging only works if you slug all of them. It takes very little time to pick up a dying Survivor. There's also no pressure on the Survivors to go do it ASAP, since they take a long time to bleed out and can recover by themselves.
Like I said, we do not agree on what a perfect counter is, why even bring it up again? We both agree that it still counters the effect, just not "perfectly" or whatever.
And in regards to the time spent on totems, I already pointed out that an average on this would be 18 seconds if the total time is split between all survivors. And, you need to look for them which can take time entirely dependant on how long you've played and how well you know the maps. This is entirely up to the fact if you know what you are doing or not.
Same could be said to countering DS, if you have DS and pick up a survivor, move to the edge of the map to reduce the chances of him getting to another loop, vault etc. If you know what you are doing and have enduring, DS is hardly an issue and I would definitely consider it "countered" if I do this and down them again within 10 seconds. Again, entirely up to whether or not you know how to do it.
I'll repeat it again here, we do not agree on what a "perfect" counter is, but we both have agreed that using these methods above will counter the effect of DS and NOED.
-
@Orion said:
I'm just gonna address this lie. NOED actually has a perfect counter called "breaking the totems". DS can only be mitigated, but it does not have a perfect counter.
There is absolutely nothing the Killer can do to prevent the activation of DS; it's all on the Survivor hitting a very easy skill check. On the other hand, the Survivors can break totems, which actually does prevent the activation of NOED.
So no, they don't both have "perfect counters". One of them has a perfect counter, the other has ways to mitigate - but never completely nullify - its effect.I do not agree. Maybe we disagree on what perfect counter is, but we both agree that they are counters.
I still think it's comparable as a survivor has to spend 14x5 seconds to remove said totems. As in you need to spend time for the counter to work. I don't think it's that far off to compare it to DS.
NOED isn't as perfectly countered as you make it out to be.
it still takes 70 seconds to remove all totems, plus you have to look for them. Time split between all 4 I guess, 17.5 seconds on average per survivor to do this task. But, putting on small game makes that task easy, aka a counter.
Same with DS.
Put on enduring and you still have to chase them again, but they won't get very far. I don't think you would spend as much time chasing a DS then you would do removing all 5 totems. If you play with this in mind and make sure to use that split second to move to a place where the survivor can't get into a good loop right away after the DS hits. Or, you could juggle or slug. It's the fact that the people who keep complaining about these things and that they should be nerfed that bothers me. I do not believe they are OP, and I do not believe they should be removed from the game.

You are missing the point here...For you it's totally unacceptable to play against a toxic SWF, and that's the problem. A Toxic SWF is in fact nothing other then a group of survivors who communicate and are in fact, GOOD AT THE [BAD WORD] GAME.I think you confuse "being good at the game" with "being toxic in the game".
You can be a good player without being toxic and you can be toxic while sucking at the game.
...but that explains why so many players have trouble understanding why no one wants to face toxic SWFs.
That is exactly my point.
Thing is, in this game more than any I've ever played, the difference between what's skilled and what's considered toxic by the community is so vastly different.
Many killers will tell you that running DS is toxic, when they run NOED themselves, which is considered toxic by most survivors.
Both of these things have perfect counters, DS has enduring, NOED has small game. If you have problems with NOED, run small game and see how much NOED will bother you. If DS is bothering you, run enduring to reduce that 4 second stun to 1 second(slightly more because of the animation).
Many in this very thread will argue that simply playing with your friends is Toxic, because of voice comms. There is absolutely no winning in this when there are so many who take their preferred side (killer or survivor), instead of taking in both sides as a whole.
I play both killer and survivor at rank 1 every reset, and I've learned these things first hand.
The list of things I consider to be toxic and gamebreaking is extremely short, and does not include things like NOED, DS, camping, tunneling, slugging, looping, SWF with voice etc. <- Many of these things people consider toxic because they simply suck at the game or refuse to change up their playstyle.
So many people I've talked to ingame and on reddit who complain about NOED and NEVER mention using small game. You don't need to run adrenaline, sc, ds and exhaustion perk every single game as survivor.
And you can easily swap out one perk on a killer to counter things like DS, if that's what's bothering you. It's the exact same thing for 360s, if you have a huge issue with 360s, use unrelenting. I gave this advice to a rank 20 friend who was having problems and it helped him immensely. He eventually learned how to not fall for 360s and swapped it out again, but concept still applies if you are having problems with any other ingame mechanic.
People are so easily offended in this game, and simply take offense to something rather than think constructive about it to figure out a counter.
Now, you are going to say, but how do I counter a SWF? Good question...By getting good at all the game mechanics, looping, mindgaming, countering perks or items with certain perks or items.
Are you going to win every time because you know this? No, not by a long shot. But you will definitely have more fun trying to beat SWFs rather than complaining about SWFs, SWFs are here to stay and will never go away so discussing it is mute.
You can try and discuss how to potentially nerf SWF, but it is nearly impossible because of what I mentioned earlier. The fact that so many players only play survivor or killer and will simply not know how it is for the other side. I'm surprised over how many people refuse to play both sides before getting so worked up over things. If I have a huge issue with one particular killer, I'll play him and learn how to counter him by having other good survivors show me by beating me.

You say that I should get punished for playing swf, but if I'm not going to get to play swf, I'm not going to play DbD, simple as that. I've already reduced my playtime on this game from all the time I had after work, to simply doing one or two games a day.I never said you should get punished for playing SWF. I am saying you cant use the argument "Why should i be punished for playing with friends" because killers are equally getting punished for playing against SWF groups. You wait 15-45 minutes for a match and the killer has a chance at having absolutely no fun wasting his time also. What if the killer only plays a few times per day, why should they have a 10-15-20% chance at having no fun at all in a match because of something the game (voice communication) isnt balanced towards.
You are missing the point here...For you it's totally unacceptable to play against a toxic SWF, and that's the problem. A Toxic SWF is in fact nothing other then a group of survivors who communicate and are in fact, GOOD AT THE ######### GAME.
The only difference is that when you lose against these players in DbD, it's going to be an awful experience. But only if you let it be, if you refuse to let that guy go that you simply can not hit because he is just that much better then you, then its your fault for having a horrible game. If the SWF is such an unbeatable god team like you fear so much, by the time you have figured out none of the survivors are going to go down, they are already on opening gates phase.
I'm pretty sure that 10-15-20% is quite accurate for most online games, where you meet someone that completely destroys you. Again, only difference is in DbD this experience feels awful.
Anyone with a limited gametime knows and manages this every day, it's the same for every game.
To say that SWF should get punished with huge wait times simply because it can be awful for the killer 10-20% of the time is straight up idiotic.
Playing against SWF groups is not as ######### hard as you make it out to be. Maybe, just maybe, you are way higher rank then you should be, if every SWF is too hard.
@micsan said:
DbD is in no way shape or form something that's considered balanced, or even competitive. The game simply does not allow it.So just because certain things arent balanced and often no fun for one side doesnt mean you just leave things as they are. If you are getting dodged at your stated 70% of games then obviously 70% of killers are having no fun playing against SWF. So ya...that should get balanced in some form. Doing nothing improves nothing for your wait time.
Then 70% of the killers should learn how to have fun against SWF, because it's entirely possible to have fun against SWF even when they all escape.
If you don't have fun against 70% of your games, why are you even playing this game? Like I said, it's entirely possible to have fun in these games even if you don't win, if you get looped forever etc.
If you manage to kill one of these players that loop you for 5 mins, then most certainly you learned something to make that same loop 4.30 mins the next time. Keeping at it when playing against strong SWFs is the only way to become good enough to play against strong SWFs.
@micsan said:
When playing a non-competitive game you are not going to win all the time if you are incredibly good or even just better then your opponent. But that doesn't [BAD WORD] matter at all. You simply play for fun, if you are up against something completely out of your league, it's still fun to try and see if you can beat the odds. Beating the odds every now and then is incredibly satisfying, like going up against a very good nurse with mori and still escaping at red ranks. This isnt about being upset about or playing against better opponents. This is about voice communication and again...."We communicate, we tell each other where we are and where to go and what killer it is, all that jazz"....how is that fair for the killer not knowing they are up against that before hand?
That doesn't make any sense, you are OBVIOUSLY being salty about playing against better opponents. It's exactly the same with every multiplayer game that's competitive. The team with Voice communication will have a huge advantage over those who don't, only differance in DbD it's Team vs Solo, and the solo doesn't have anyone to communicate with.
I'm certain that you've met plenty of non-swf groups without communication and bogged it up to "ah, it was just a toxic SWF with Voice comms, definitely not my skill that was lacking to get this 4k, it was definitely the voice comms."
That entire mindset is exactly what's keeping you from having fun 70% of your games.
@micsan said:
Like I said, and you completely missed the it... I said SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT DODGING IS SUCH A HUGE ISSUE.Then the simple solution is show SWF groups and have dodging on a gradual timer that increases with each dodge. (Ex: 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, etc). Ive pointed that out on other comments ive made in different threads.
Finally, something we actually agree with!

I might be a little harsher by setting it to 5 min, 15 min etc. I never dodge, If I get into a swf game where everyone has flashlights\medkits\toolboxes etc. I will make it a challenge to actually beat this completely out of my odds game. I also often use these stacked games to do Daily rituals on killers I don't like.

You don't need this add on to be a broken legion. Playing with add ons that reduce the recovery time after frenzy ends are also incredibly strong.
Hit them once, run up to them and cancel ability and they will be extremely close if you have these add ons.
It is not nearly as broken as the FMT, but it still feels way to easy when playing Legion to do this.
FMT being a ultra rare add on sounds interesting, I have to admit.

I dont give a [BAD WORD] for how long I wait mate. I just want a fair game.
You must never play SWF, or you didn't play killer during the Hallowed Blight event. Or maybe you just forgot or stopped playing during this month, like many killer mains did. Killer during Hallowed Blight was just as bad as SWF is today, 15-20 minute queue times.
But the difference is that as killer you are guaranteed to get a game eventually. As SWF you will meet killers who piss their pants as soon as four people join simultaneously and dodge the lobby. That's 15 min wasted as survivor, if this happens three or four times during an evening that's an hour. I can't be wasting one hour of my already limited playtime to get into a game.
I and many I know have simply quit DbD, waiting for a patch to fix this issue. I check the forums everyday with hopes of some fix being announced. If this continues only the sweatiest players will be left because they are the only ones willing to put up with the wait times.
The fact of the matter is that many SWF groups such as ours who are mainly friends playing together for fun, will be the first ones to leave this game. We are not toxic, nobody runs DS, nobody runs SC, no OOO, only one of us has all perks on a survivor so far and with the pace that the rest are playing, it will probably take 6 months for them to get to that point. <- This is the situation for most of the DbD playerbase.
Imagine how it would be if all of the non toxic SWF groups quit because they don't want to wait to play a game they play for fun. Only the SWF players that take the game super serious will be left, and killer games against these SWF groups will not be fun and they will be a majority because casuals don't wait for 1 hour to get into a game.
-
Do you really find that enjoyable though?
Might as well play a single player game with godmode.
The fun lies within the interaction between killer and survivor, with franks mixtape you simply take away all of that and replace it with free hits.
It's boring AF.

ridiculous ... the game costs 19.99 and many play it for hundreds or even thousands of hours. 2 € £ $ for a dlc does not kill you. what a joke ... first world problems
It's not about 2$, it's about the principal. I already own it. But promoting any kind of pay2win (I dare anyone saying BBQ is not meta perk) is stupid and unhealthy and if you don't get it I can't help you out. Sadly, the majority speaks louder and especially in this game the majority are casuals
You do realize that everyone that pays for these DLCs are paying for your game to be developed, right?
Why people don't understand this is beyond me. You know where DbD would have been if NOBODY bought DLCs or cosmetics?
Underdeveloped as #########, they would not have enough money to keep supporting the game and would eventually stop patching it because they have no obligation to keep doing so other then game breaking bugs. No balance changes, no new characters, no new perks (all these things require people, and people expect to get paid for developing games).
Not to mention, no licenced content whatsoever.
We would never get to see dedicated servers, this part of the game will be fully paid for by DLC and Cosmetic purchases as well as the base game.
DLCs and cosmetics in this game are reasonably priced in this game as well, and we get new killers and new content every couple months.
This is ALL thanks to the people you say are causing a problem with games. Behaviour is one of the least predatory game companies out there at the moment.

I completely agree with you that the SWF groups should show up as SWF, but only at the end game screen. Simply because of how incredibly annoying it is to be in queue for 15 minutes then FINALLY finding a game and the killer wusses out. I'm even for giving a decent bonus for those who play against swf, 20-50% more BPs. But, the matchmaking is broken right now and I'm 100% sure of it.I have no problem with SWF showing at the end of the game, if the game gets balanced around SWF and voice communication. Which it wont because it screws solo survivors.
You are getting dodged because a lot of the time for killers a 3-4 SWF game is a complete dice roll. It will either be fun like the other games or a complete nightmare with people who try extremely hard with all the benefits of voice communication. Giving killers extra BP or showing SWF at the end of the game wont change anything in regards to leavers.
Your original statement was "Why should we be punished for wanting to play together?". Why should killers roll the dice on every 3-4 SWF game to possibly be punished with no fun at all? Why should they take a chance on getting a toxic team or an impossible team to win against cause they have voice communication? Because oh, its only a small chance of that happening? Thats a terrible argument to make. Oh, youll only have a terrible time 20% of the time, so suck it up and take the chance so i can have my fun.
You cannot have all these advantages like you said "We communicate, we tell each other where we are and where to go and what killer it is, all that jazz" then state killers shouldnt know they are going up against this before hand. And not only not know they are going up against this before hand...but because it might ruin your fun. If you cant see how unfair that is, that is mind boggling.
I am rank 1 survivor and rank 1 killer.
I have poured hours into this game since I started playing, as killer against swf, as survivors as swf and as a survivor solo.
You say that I should get punished for playing swf, but if I'm not going to get to play swf, I'm not going to play DbD, simple as that. I've already reduced my playtime on this game from all the time I had after work, to simply doing one or two games a day.
DbD is in no way shape or form something that's considered balanced, or even competitive. The game simply does not allow it.
Now, I've played my fair share of games, competitive and non-competitive. This game I can tell you right now is being played as if it was competitive(by way to many), but it can NEVER be an E-Sport.
When playing a non-competitive game you are not going to win all the time if you are incredibly good or even just better then your opponent. But that doesn't ######### matter at all. Like I said, and you completely missed the it... I said SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT DODGING IS SUCH A HUGE ISSUE. Getting dodged after waiting 15 minutes, then getting dodged a second time after 15 minutes, then a third time after 15 minutes, then finally someone takes the game and is going huntress \w iri head and a mori. <- This is not "unfun", this is unplayable. I've already purchased another game to play until they fix this issue, and I know plenty of players that now refuse to play.
For many people there is no point in playing a game that is so grindy like DbD, if you can never "show it off" or use it to help your friends. I'm not going to play killer or solo or duo survivor, because I'm not going to waste my time. Do you not see that? This could have been the best ######### game in the world, but it wouldn't matter because I'm not going to wait 15 minutes to get a game that has a 60-70% chance of getting dodged.
Had there been any way that I could think of to make sure that four random killers can make it so a group of four people has to sit there for 45 minutes waiting to get into a game that's incredibly stacked against you. Remember what I said, I don't mind being stacked up against, it's just incredibly frustrating to wait for 45 minutes (that's 2 or 3 games worth of time) then getting into such a game. AGAIN, I wouldn't give a flying ######### had it not been for the 45 min wait times. Because, then we could just get into another game after a quick death. But, no, the SWF dodgers combined with the ridiculous matchmaking makes this game not playable for me and my group.
They CAN'T make it so a killer can see it's a swf because 60-70% of our swf lobbies get dodged.
I'm going to make this abundantly clear so you don't misunderstand:
Killer could see that they are up against a swf, even before lobby. But not when there is such a high percentage of swf dodgers out there.

Clearly you haven't played killer to know, come back when you have experienced it. Most people commenting on this in favour of SWF REALLY need to play killer and stop being a coward.I'm rank 1 killer and rank 1 survivor though....

You seriously want them to limit swf to two survivors? That's [BAD WORD] up. Most people aren't hardcore depip squads running sabo builds or anything else equally cancerous.
I simply want to be able to play this game with my friends, most of whom do not play even remotely as much as I do. Two of them have not gotten past rank 14 yet.
Why should we be punished for wanting to play together? Because some killers want an easier time, in a game where rank means nothing?
This game is catered towards casuals and removing the option to play together would be the death of this game.
That being said, I'm 100% sure that this will never be the case. So discussing it is rather pointless, but either way...my two cents.
You have to ask yourself this. Have you or your friends in a SWF group ever communicated to each other saying where the killer is, what to do next, who is going to unhook who or if the killer is chasing someone. How is that fair? How does that not provide an advantage in the game?
It doesnt matter if the killer ended up 4 killing all of you, it doesnt matter if all of you escaped. The point is every single game you play, you have an extra advantage.
Now i am not saying limit SWF to 2 people. But at the very least, show SWF groups that are 3 and 4 members. I always find it funny on here with conversations of SWF where the killers are told to suck it up, but when they ask for the smallest thing like 3-4 man SWF groups being shown its suddenly DOOM for the game and SWF groups wont ever find a lobby anymore without any stats backing it up.
We communicate, we tell each other where we are and where to go and what killer it is, all that jazz. I could understand if we were back in the year 2000 and this would be considered cheating, because discord\skype was not a thing back then and you'd have to host your own Ventrilo server to be able to communicate. But in this day and age it's hardly an argument. You simply can not make a game today that is 1v2 or more and balance it towards the two on the same team NOT having communication.
Hell, on ps4\xbox it's built into the operating system, how can a game company balance a game towards not being able to communicate AND release it to any of these platforms? It's impossible to justify.
But, the matchmaking is broken right now and I'm 100% sure of it.
We spent 45 minutes looking for a match yesterday, got dodged every single match, then we get a match FINALLY, and it's a huntress with iri and mori, that also tunnels and camps. I would not mind this one bit had it not been for the 45 min wait time.
This has happened three days in a row now and I'm unsure if my friends will be down to try again today, because it simply isn't worth playing DbD if we can't play together, ever. If we CAN play together, there is more incentive to play solo and duo etc. But with these queues I can't justify wasting my time with this game.
Most likely, we will stop playing all together until this is fixed.
Also, me and my friend tried Duo queue and had same issues. If we both queue at the exact same time in solo, we both get into the same game. We have done this enough to know for certain that it works and the matchmaking in this game is broken.
...best part is that they STILL dodge our lobbies when we do this. We don't even have prestiged characters yet.

If you already didn't know, on a dev stream they mentioned this was one of the ways they would nerf DS. They realized it only made SWF groups stronger as they could have time to flashlight save, bodyblock, etc....What is the logic behind that?
So, DS currently = one perk, one survivor, one escape from grasp, three other survivors doing objectives.
DS in hypothetical nerf = one perk, one survivor does nothing other then stun for 5 seconds or w\e, survivor still hooked because there is enough hooks to go around. Let's be real, chances of being helped during this phase in a solo game is slim.
In swf situation = one perk, one survivor stuns killer for 5 second, second survivor comes in for the FL save if he has a FL or simply tries to block. FL would more or less guarantees the save whilst blocking is not guaranteed and will most likely injure one or more survivors.
How would the last two situations make a swf stronger then a swf group today running DS?

It's just an idea I had, not confirmed or anything, but I believe a nice idea at the very least.
I'm sorry I didn't specify. But I was wondering if you could in any way shape or form confirm that you do indeed get better items in your bloodweb from prestiging. I've been looking for info on this but it's always just some random comment on a forum. As well as the unofficial wiki...
The only official thing I've found on this topic is this: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000444126-What-is-Prestige-and-how-do-I-earn-this-
And it doesn't mention anything about getting better items in blood webs.

If you're going to make add-ons permanent, then you might as well tweak the respective killers' power to be with those add-ons on by default.I was thinking more so just ti give more incentive to prestige killers, since oyu have almost no reason to do so, appart from cosmetics.
I would definitely prestige my killers if I had something like that as a reward. Same thing with survivors, give us some incentive other then skins.
AFAIK you don't get anything for prestiging other then the skins, and according to DbD support page it does not increase chances of getting higher rarity items in your blood web. It says so on the unofficial wiki, but their own website does not mention it. check this out if you want to see for yourself
Has Behaviour confirmed this to be true or is it just speculation? I would love to know the numbers on this and whether or not I should start prestiging even though I've maxed out my perks without prestiging.

Before the rank reset. This is your answer, every rank 1 player gets thrown back to rank 10 and is now more likely to be in your games as a rank 14 player. It kinda sucks for you at this stage.
As a rank 1 killer\survivor I think this is the most interesting time to play dbd, you can try different builds and killers you've not played before and not get your ass handed to you every time.
But the system definitely sucks for newer players that haven't reached rank 1 yet. Your best bet is to wait a few days when all the most hardcore survivors have grinded back up to rank 1.

But I've definitely missed a few hits, but that doesn't mean ######### because of how low the recovery of hits are in FF.
I have a ps4 pro and I've heard every killer is easier on a pro due to frame drops during key situations, like when hitting survivors etc. My friend splurged on a pro after he saw how much better it was on my system.

Whoever told you lagswitching is not bannable for survivors has lied to you. When we go through reports, we don't care in the slightest who's playing what, lagswitching is lagswitching.Could Behaviour please at some point publish the number of reports and actions taken? This would help with false reports I think. As you can see in this thread, I'm not the only one getting annoyed by the fact that every time there is lag in game you get called a lag switcher.
I am so goddamn annoyed by all the whiny survivors that message me calling me a lag switcher. I play on wireless, I play for fun, I do not care that my connection isn't perfect. I've never had any problems with lag or being called a lag switcher in any game I've ever played, but in DbD it happens every 2-3 games I play as killer. In short, I'm not going to drill a hole in my floor to pull a ethernet cable through simply because of some whiny kids that don't understand how the internet works. There is going to be lag, that doesn't mean someone has gone out of their way to create a physical button\switch to manipulate the data sent to their ps4.

I am the opposite, easier to get rank 1 killer, harder to get rank 1 survivor cause of tunnelers/campers
Perhaps the survivors you threw against were not so hard enough to let you get to rank 1 without losing pip.
No matter how you think about it, it is harder for a killer to kill two players, then it is for one player to fix a gen and do a rescue which is usually enough to gain a pip.
You are going to be tunneled on average 10-20% of your games, any more than that and you are just being extremely unlucky. The killer will find one person very fast by going to all gens, if that's you every time AND the killer decides to camp\tunnel you, it's just tough luck. You can help yourself by doing stupid ######### like hiding in a locker until someone gets hit, for that guaranteed pip.
If you get to rank one and can't keep at least rank 2 or 3, you do not know the meta. Red ranks does not mean you are good, but that you know the meta. Shitton of people in rank 1 that don't know how to loop, mind game or anything like that, they simply know "I'm not in chase, I should do a gen". That's it, for the survivors. Do this and it's virtually impossible to depip, I'm sure many can confirm this. I've gotten a safety pip with only 9k points, helps if you do 1 gen and 1 save.
You simply can not do something like that as killer.
Even though there are people who get rank 1 killer first, I'm certain 99% of those rank 1 killers could get rank 1 survivor rather easily.
Hell, I've been rank 1 for three resets now, and still haven't even learned how to use the strongest "ability" that survivors have, flashlight saving. I have successfully FL saved someone a total of ONE time, when I found one randomly in a chest. I've simply been saving all my FLs so I can bring one with me for 50-60 games straight and finally practice it a bit. Should also do this at rank reset I guess.

Having kindred be base kit would make the game a lot less scary, unless you are 3-4 people, you will not always know were everyone is and it adds to the suspense. Also, it requires the survivors to scout if the killer is camping or not. Plenty of ways to play around not having kindred and it is really not needed. I see no need for it personally.
Thanat to be base kit would be too good on killers like Legion, especially if it's 1 injured = 15% reduced and add 2% per injured survivor. Keeping in mind perks like Dying Light, which requires you to kill the obsession, only gives 25% at max rank once this is achieved. Giving away 15% simply by keeping at least one survivor injured would be too much for too little work.
-
It's way too damn high, that's for sure.
I've never played a game where there is such a huge issue with DCing, the DbD playerbase is extremely pissy and opinionated when it comes to how this game should be played.
If something in their mind is overpowered or annoying, they will simply opt out. This mindset is so toxic and annoying it is beyond belief.
And all of this in a game that has literally no incentive to stay high rank at all.
-
I think this is a discussion that needs to involve Items and Add ons, because the only difference between offerings and items\add ons is that it only affects you and not the entire game. Could argue that a survivor bringing an insta heal has an effect on the killer, but a discussion for another time.
Offerings and items in general make the game more exciting. If all of this was removed, we would not have any variety in fog, chest spawns, hook spawns etc. Every chase would be exactly the same as the last one.
They make the game feel like less of a grind because of variety, makes it so not every game feels the same even though it's the 5th game against a skillbilly.
This game will never be balanced, there will always be one side having an advantage over the other. And if a killer pops a Mori, it turns the game into a completely different game then if the killer didn't.
In the end of the day, the game is not competitive, and it never will be. Sorry p3 claudette\nurse, even if you want this game to be the new e-sports game, it simply never will because the devs aren't balancing it for high level play, rather low-to-mid level play. They've openly said this.
In the end rank has no meaning, so don't get mad because you lost rank if you had a good game!
-
That's ######### up, never happened to me. That's some Friday the 13th ######### right there, that game is riddled with this kind of stuff.
Did you try to join in on the farming at all? It's kind of wonky, but I've gotten a message from the killer before a game starts where they ask if we can farm points. Sometimes the killers don't message everyone and maybe just one of us, and we let everyone know over comms. One time when this happened one of the random guys didn't catch on and was killed.
I can't see how this could happen many games in a row, where you didn't get the chance to farm yourself. I'm pretty sure you can't purposely have your friends join your lobby as a killer, but I guess the killer can make a game and all his friends look for lobby and leave lobbies that aren't his, but that's somewhat a stretch. It would take forever to get into the same lobby which is why I can't believe this happened to you three games in one morning.
In any case, if they actually where teaming, there is not much you can do, reporting them wont help. Only tip I can give really is to try and join in on the farming, indicate to the killer that you are down to farm by stopping up and not running. You will quickly figure out if he's down or not.
-
No, it is not considered taking the game hostage. He could just be really bad or really new to the game, and was crouching because of the scary killer.
Supposedly the reporting system works on PC, as they have authority to punish players with bans. Which they do not on ps4, I'm unsure if this will ever change.
-
There is a big difference between the person that comes on the forums and complains about #########, and the person that comes here and ask for tips on how to adapt to the games changes...
I started playing on 13th of this month, exactly when the reset is, lol. I'm rank 4 survivor right now, killers are definitely not OP.
Try to play around killer perks and learn good escape\looping routes. Play with a friend so you can coordinate saves, gen repairs and once you get comfortable with it, distracting the killer. Keep in mind that most killers run BBQ, expect them to know where you are and adapt accordingly. I think I got to play for two or three days before the healing nerf, and to be completely honest, healing was extremely powerful. Tanking hits was way to easy if you could just pop off for 10 seconds and heal yourself even without medkits. Changes in play style for this nerf was to not always heal right after an unhook, unless I could see the killer chasing, also running away from the action to heal because if you heal nearby, the longer times it takes to heal will definitely reveal you to the killers with Nurse's calling, which 99% of killers have at higher ranks.
I'm still a noob so this is the best advice I can give, but I'm sure survivor mains out there with thousands of hours can confirm many of these things and also add to it.
Also, being killer is a lot more frustrating\stressful. To be looped for 2-3 gens will make your blood pressure rise considerably more then being facecamped or being chased for 2-3 gens. I personally need to take a break from killer after a few games.
-
I do this to give the killer free points, hardly anything else... If the killer was a tunneling dick I just leave.
The game is pretty much ended when the gates open, unless you have Blood Warden and\or NOED. I'm still new and not comfortable enough to run out if I know NOED is up, I'll just bail.
IMO at that point it's up to the survivors if they want to bother rescuing whomever you are chasing, or get into another game...
Holding up the game in any way, is pretty toxic, I think everyone agrees on that. Survivors and killers alike.
