I mean if were talking High MMR def not. I still consider myself a killer main even though I been playing mostly survivor for quite some time and that being said yes I am a bit worried. not because of the nerfs to spirit per say but the add-on passes rarely (outside of huntress) have gone well for the killer. The idea is to buff these lower killers by making add-ons more useful but they gut the good ones and do a ######### job of buffing the crap ones. Usually goes like this....Good effect next line MASSIVE downside, or they just get lazy and use Hemmorage as a a buff (????) like what is that no mangled with? I am still sad about Fred as there really ain't much point in running add-ons for him.
I have a feeling Myers and hag maybe even wraith addons are going to be gutted hard.
Hemorrhage is the most pointless "buff" of the game 🤣

Don't think this is such a big danger atm, judging by queue times, we have plenty of killers.
I had to switch to survivor to do the 130k bp challenge because even without the killer bp boost, it's faster.
Yeah if you play right you get almost as much BP and with less stress overall😎

And Ruin/Undying every game, it becomes tiring.
It is necessary for the most part...any killer match without gen regression of some kind is just stacking the survivor side even more🤣

I was already a survivor main, but with the announced gutting of Spirit, I'll be done with killer entirely.
MMR hasn't exactly been fun as survivor either. Honestly burning out on DBD with all the horrible changes over the past year.
Welcome to the club...play some survivor and when it gets boring there are other games to play...I have personally been playing a few games of survivor get bored and play the maaa effect legendary collection(so much more fulfilling ☺)

a bit after the legion chapter i stopped playing for like 1-2ish months, game got very stale (and well, old legion)
although ever since the RE chapter ive been very on/off playing dbd, i can only really play like a couple matches every other day or so anymore
I saw older videos of old legion those were crazy times🤣
Yeah I mean it is still the same gameplay since back then...no new modes 🤔

@JohnWeak said:
Fact is killer mains with 10K hours don't win at high MMR without camping/tunneling.
When you have the best killer mains in the world struggling to get 5 hooks, it's concerning especially when you see that those survivors are trash in chases, they are just well coordinated to gen rush. But well developers seem happy about it.
Of course it is the cigarette company model...keep new survivors happy so they dont stress vs killers.
If the older players leave who cares they will pump out a new dlc and bring in new players again and buy cosmetics.
Just simple business 4 wallets > 1 killer having to sweat and possibly get bullied if they cant compete.

😂😂😂 I enjoyed this laugh.
Not true though lets not be super dramatic. Are the add-ons for most of these killers be in a weaker spot...Quite possibly but we don't know yet. Spirit was OP (Not 100% sure that was a bad thing though) she did need A change just not this much. Knowing when she is phasing would have been enough and solved most complaints. Knowing when she phases and seeing dust/moving my be over the top. We shall see.
However I am a really big fan of FTP so that change excites me.
You have to admit it isnt looking good for killers though🤑

At what sbmm level?🙂

Currently. SBMM makes playing killer feel awful and I can't stand playing against the autopilot killer meta of Tinkerer + Ruin + other regression perk stack as survivor. Hoping SBMM gets turned off but if they nerf/rework Tinkerer to not be so braindead I'll probably start playing again.
I don't think sbmm is going anywhere unfortunately got to keep those new survivors happy🤑

I mostly play survivor cause it's chill and my queue times are less than 30 sec while it takes on average 6 min to find a game as killer during daytime. Currently max was 20 min, and fastest was something around 1 min. Past midnight its less than 20 sec but i prefer to rest and sleep than playing game during night.
Yeah and the sweats are playing hard at that time🤣

I have always enjoyed survivor more, and I've been taking advantage of the shorter queue times on that side. It's been pretty nice. Stress free games.
Used to play killer and felt like I was performing a public service and facilitating fun for others. It's nice to not have to do that anymore.
Yeah it is liberating😎

It’s not SBMMR that’s the problem, it’s the fact that playing killer feels like a chore rather than fun most of the time. It’s also the maps and the BS tiles that come with them. So basically, it’s really the balancing of the game that is the main issue, which will probably never get better.
It wont get better another competitor will show up before they bother to balance the game...even then all.it is going to take is a new dlc to break the game again🤣

You do know that if a survivor Dead Hards over a trap, you can just....pick up the trap right? Suggesting that Trapper's main weakness was anything other than his set up is silly.
Yup lose time picking up the trap possibly line of sight during.the chase give up that bloodlust🤔

If this game was survivor sided they would do something about camping and tunneling. So it's not survivor sided. Let's see in future what happens.
They cant...tunneling for some killers that is the only way to get hooks and camping? Come on you work on gens to counter that ☺
-
@Chilli_man2400 said:
oh yeah they are survivor biased it’s not like they buffed trapper and finally gave him his 2 traps by default and buffed Blood favor third seal and retribution! Wow so biased
Wow so he can traverse larger maps now and stop those gens against high sbmm? 🤣 and it hurts me to say that as a trapper main but he is still 3 gen material at best

@Phasmamain said:
The best course of action imo is to nerf the top 3 and then balance around that instead. Much easier than making every killer nurse/spirit strength
So make the game more survivor sided for how many months while they decide to balance?
Imagine the uproar...i have friends that are only holding on to playing killer because of these 3.🤣

I haven’t taken a break, instead, I’ve just reduced how much I play. I used to play 5-6 hours a day, 5 days a week, and now I can only stomach 2-4 matches a day at most and find myself more interested in watching YouTube.
Same here I can only stomach playing survivor a few matches before getting bored...sad sbmm killer has killed the most interesting aspect of this game for me🙄

5.0.0 and the 5th anniversary event.
1. It was genuinely upsetting how broken the game was for console that I refused to play. I have every 4th anniversary crown for both killer and survivor at the time, but I didn't care for getting a single 5th anniversary crown as a testament to how upsetting I found the state of the game to be.
2. Platinuming Resident Evil: Village
Yeah the 5th anniversary event was mostly for high end PC players🤑

Mandy, I like you as a person but as someone who had to change platforms because of how terrible it was for console players, have you guys been actually working on console optimization for the past 3 years? You guys said early in 2019 that console was going to be optimized 60 fps and whatever it was.
It is 2021 and that patch never made it, and in fact it is worse FPS wise, telling people to buy SSDs to help their past gen console isn't optimizing.
If it isnt possible at least tell us that so we dont get our hopes up.

I've had several months of no playing several times.
Sometimes it's because I'm not happy with how the balance is
Sometimes I'm just tired of dealing with tiresome players who pitch a fit anytime they lose
I've learned that playing only one game and nothing else is bad for your outlook on the game, no matter how much you love it. I enjoy this game more now that I don't play it regularly.
Yeah just playing dbd would be mentally straining...dont know how some streamers do it🤣

A few months, probably 4-5, I was just tired of dealing with the problems of playing killer. When I did come back and saw things weren't much, if any, better I went from a 50/50 player to like 90/10 favoring survivor.
Still like that till this day but I play less because killer still isn't near good and survivor gets boring very quickly for me these days.
Yeah it is worse since every survivor plays the same way...it just gets stale.

I don't remember when, probably between a year and two years ago. I had finished the current Rift and there was a lot of time until the next one. I didn't play at all for a month or two, and it was refreshing as hell. I rather wanted to uninstall it. Then the new Rift came out and my friend insisted on playing my account to earn the Rift items for me, didn't want to just let it die, and would thrust the controller at me. He hasn't let me take a break since. "We need to do the Rift." "We need to earn Bloodpoints." Then he bought DbD on Switch during a sale and now I'm never [BAD WORD]ing escaping this game.
He's having a miserable time with the teammates we're getting due to SBMM right now and he's still insisting we play. I kinda wanna curl up in a ball in the corner and just never move again.
I dont know if your friend has your best interests at heart🤣

I've only ever took 2 breaks from DBD:
The first one was in 2019, and it lasted for roughly a month. The reason? A technical problem with my computer.
The second break is the one I am currently in. I've left because DBD looks nothing like the game I fell in love with back in 2018.
And if that game, which provided me with a level of enjoyment that no other game can, isn't going to return...then I have no reason to stay.
What about the current game is making you not play it?😯
-
@OldHunterLight said:
When I started dbd was the longest I took a break from this game, it was for about 4 months because I was getting destroyed back in like mid 2018.
But currently I'm also taking a break because I dislike playing killer now which is my main role.
Yeah I have the same feeling as you right now...survivor gets pretty boring and killer which is different is to nerfed😴

i've played for about 4 months so far, and i haven't voluntarily took a break from the game yet except i literally uninstalled the game two times out of frustration 😅
When i did uninstall it was because of the rank based matchmaking. With grades and sbmm though i am much more enjoying this game, and i feel like the game feels much more for me now, a casual player.
Do you play both roles?🙂

It kinda is, I never played plague and I still get the same players.
Also dataminers who have gotten banned for leaking that information confirmed that there is not such thing as individual killer MMR, if you are a godly nurse that will increase the other killers MMR, slower but it will increase it.
So basically I main Oni but suck at plague I will still get really decent survivors vs my plague because MMR is not working as intended.
Yeah right now it is a system designed to make sure newer survivor players dont leave...the cigarette model we have new customers the older ones dont matter as much anymore 🤑

Prove thyself, Resilience, Stake out, Fast track. Fun build to run actually. Swapping prove out with Spine chill works to and is more optimal for solo gens.
@danielmaster87 said:
Mine cannot allow a key, unless you find one in a chest. Mine is Built to Last, Streetwise, and 2 other perks of your choosing in combination with Commodius Toolbox and both charge add-ons. Thanks for all the input 🙂

You get xp by
-challenges
-game length (capped at 10)
-emblems earn (very small xp amount, believe its 30-40xp for iri)
Gen rushing will stop you getting max possible XP for a match, it will also hinder your BP
So why is gen rushing so popular 🙂

Survivor isn’t fun either. Tunneling and camping every match. Every killer.

Yeah but it was in my like first week of playing. Had I been in a game like that recently I am taking my 5 min penalty and getting the ######### outta there haha
Yeah unfortunately it is still a thing where 2 survivors or even 3 really can just not do objectives and force the game to drag on without reprecussions...should be no objective done in a 10 minute limit survivors get instant crows or force end game collapse to happen.

@Mandy said:
@Mr_K is correct with the way the MMR/SBMM is working. If you've got a high MMR with a killer, there's no way you're going to be put with people at a super low MMR that would be unfair as you still have a baseline knowledge of the game mechanics, tiles etc. So it would be incredibly unfair to put you against new players, even if it's with a killer you've never played.
If you're playing with a killer that is new to you then your MMR won't drop too much if you're already experienced with other killers - it'll be less, but it won't be low. It will take some time then before the MMR on that killer balances out.
As for the other things mentioned in this thread about "lies", sometimes things have been mentioned that we're working on or even just in the planning phase - these get jumped on and people expect them to be implemented instantly. There's no lies - we're working on things, it's just somethings don't happen as quickly as we all like, other things come up, some things are put to the wayside or in a backlog whilst something more necessary is dealt with. Or for whatever reason, something just can't be done. It's not about lying.
Thank you for the response and I appreciate the confirmation🙂. I realize it is taking time to make changes and to implement ideas.
I know not to waste my time playing killer anymore while these changes are taking place. I have been beaten 44 times using a killer I have touched maybe 10 times total.
I am supposed to be placed against players my killers skill level correct? How many more matches am I supposed to lose before it balances out? 2k is supposed to be normal and I have gotten 0 to 1 kill on most off these matches.
How can I practice their power (usually without perks or addons since they haven't been leveled up) when i am placed against the same survivors using meta perks?
It is also not fair to put a learning killer against higher levels...if that is the case, we need that offline bot mode to practice with killer.
My highest killer mmr was trapper which hovered around green ranks every month and this past month before mmr reached rank 6.
I will apologize about the lies part though...not angry 🙂.
Not everybody wants or play ranked mode all the time...we need a casual mode.

@Tsulan said:
Devs won't do anything in that regard. Because they don't see it as a problem.
The original Undying Ruin combo was the perfect example of how a additional objective slowed gens down, while also avoiding camping and tunneling.
But the devs gave in to survivors that complained about doing bones.
So there is no salvation coming. We'll get probably spammed with slowdown perks, that will be nerfed a few months later, when they are even slightly effective.
The above mentioned interview contained a part where a dev said that if players feel forced to equip a perk, then something should be done about it. Killers have been struggling over a year with gen speeds and in that time we saw nerfs to Undying, Pop and Lullaby. So don't expect any killer buffs or survivor nerfs in that regard.
Just play survivor and enjoy the short matches.
I still cant believe old undying got nerfed it made a second objective viable...it wouldn't even be OP right now with 3 different totem searching perks and maps🤔

I can asure you that most killers don't tunnel for fun, they just have to. They would be glad to chase the unhooker everytime, right now if they do that the game is gone.
Make gens slower and tunneling/camping is gonna decrease pretty hard. More chases, more points, more mindgames. Only sweaty chads want 4 minutes game.
That is the norm right now wait in a killer lobby for longer than it takes to play a game🤬
