Maybe I'm out of touch or just a noob with 1.5k hours on DBD. May I ask what's the average time of a trial suppose to be? I'm trying for no slowdown builds alot these recent days and my average trial as a Rank 1 Billy with BBQ&Chili, Bamboozle, Enduring and Spirit Fury. The end results is an avg 5 minute trial and about an average of 6 hooks and a depip for me.

Is this balanced? I get super quick trials due to everyone holding M1 and all of us in the trial get a maximum of 20K blood points.

No slow-down builds are all about your ability to snow-ball. Whether you win or lose, the game is going to go quick. My games tend to be around the 9 minute mark, I do use slow down, but I use ruin and I have it just to buy a bit of time to get rid of some pallets. Once ruin is gone I'm looking to snowball into a win.

If this perk blocked aura reading while healing it would be perfect. Right now I feel that it's just inferior to Iron Will, but it is cool to hear about the mind games that can be used.

Bloodlust 1 has to stay around for now due to poor design of loops on some maps that become way too powerful without bloodlust. When it comes to tier 2 and 3 sure they can be annoying but with how long it takes to reach them if the killer needs bloodlust to hit you twice in a chase that’s a game winning chase you just had.

Bloodlust 1 is fine, but it shouldn't kick in until bloodlust 2 kicks in now. It should only be to prevent badly designed loops from turning into infinites.

So its more beneficial to kill your teammate and have the obsession finish the gens 25% quicker? Awful change and this would lead to swf sandbagging their teammates for the 25% buff.

SWFs already leave a teammate to die in many situations. But again 25 percent bonus is hardly game breaking if one survivor is dead. The trade off is honestly not worth it. Not saying it wouldn't happen, it could but it would be a bad play.

So you want to turn her into a glorified prebuff wraith who can't control her own mobility?

What's even the bloody point in having her power when it made to be worse then literally all alternatives such as just playing Wraith/Demo/Twins?

The point is to have a killer that actually plays the game. Sorry laying down traps and scrolling your wheel and immediately attacking is not a pro-gamer move while proxying the hooked survivor.

Why should one Survivor dying mean another deserves a whopping 25% increase to his gen speeds?

You're question is sitting on one incredibly wrong mindset; that tunneling needs to be punished. So you've made an idea that rewards Survivors for one dying, as a way to punish the Killer.

This idea is OP. Survivors don't deserve an action speed increase on anything just because someone died. Also; this would punish Killers that don't tunnel. if a Survivor offs himself on first hook; Someone now has an OP bonus.

Survivor just plays bad and gets seen repeatedly? Welp; now someone has an OP bonus! (Though some Survivors claim a Killer not ignoring an unhooked Survivor for 50 minutes is 'tunneling')

No. These 'We need to punish camping!' threads need to stop. Survivors need to get it through their heads that they don't deserve unhooks just because they stomp their feet and scream, and the Killer does not have to 12 hook every game.

Perks are there to offer bonuses to the team using them. And yes, as the opponent you need to play around the perks. The way to play around this perk would be to play normally. It would even still be highly beneficial to get someone out of the game to slow down the game. Remember for the perk to truely and fully counter losing 1 survivor it would need to be a 100 percent increase in generator speed and healing.

The 25 percent simply means that once a survivor is killed, it is no longer a guaranteed win by the killer. This effectively removes the incentive to tunnel to win. It also means that a killer cannot simply resort to tunneling to win if they're falling behind. Killers often win games they have no business winning by singling out a survivor , preventing them from being unhooked, and immediately targetting them once unhooked. This perk would make that a poor strategy, but it is in no way OP. It cannot stack and the bonus offered does not completely remove the benefit of having 4 living survivors.

  • I'd rather they run Franklin's compared to most other perks. The only item that generally matters is medkits anyway and is playing with only 3 perks worth it to nullify items?

  • @Power_Guy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2375187#Comment_2375187

That is an OP perk. You're literally removing the pressure the Killer applies from killing someone.

People need to get it through their heads that camping and tunneling have legit uses, and making OP perks or BS 'punishments' will never sit well. You need perks that encourage the Killer to not camp, like BBQ and Devour Hope.

Not half-baked punishments and perks that remove pressure.

Is it really though? You've already killed 1 survivor. You know exactly which survivor is getting a bonus to their action speed and only 1 survivor can get the bonus? Why should tunneling out one survivor be an automatic win?

  • The reason why tunneling is so effective is because all action speeds are effectively reduced by a minimum of 25 percent once a survivor is killed.

I think a potential buff to sole survivor : increase the speed for repairing generators and healing actions by 25 percent whenever a survivor is sacrificed or killed as long as you're the obsession, whenever the obsession is killed become the obsession (if more than 1 survivor is running this perk, the obsession is chosen at random)

This would effectively mean that if you ran this perk and the killer tunneled one survivor. You would be able to heal and work generators 25 percent faster with one survivor dead , 50 percent faster with 2 and 75 percent faster with 3. It also has some counter-play because if the obsession changes the killer knows that you are running this perk.

  • It's funny to me that the counter arguments for this suggestion basically boil down to, "No, then I couldn't choose the spot where I would like to camp the survivor."

But I do agree that camping hooks is for better or worse an intended mechanic.

Give a longer cooldown for missed pounces so survivors can punish bad Victors.

    Reduce Victor's MS from 150 to 135%.

Increase Charlotte's MS when Victor is not attached to her and maybe give her a longer lunge (like Myers in T3), so she has some 1v1 potential.

Basically nerf Victor and buff Charlotte.

Another option is making Charlotte an AI that follows Victor around very slowly, so slugging is not that attractive anymore because you can hook people. Basically make her work like Nemesis' zombies.

These are all decent potential changes, I hope that the devs experiment with a few different versions of Twins and then choose something that works. While I still think that my idea could work, really what we all want is some core changes to have it so that the best way to play the Twins is also the most fun for everyone.

True but I've read people saying her whole power should be reworked and i dont want that to happen. Her power is unique and fun

Hag needs a proper rework. Even if we ignore the core problem with hooks. Her power is all about getting nearly guaranteed hits if a trap that can only be interacted with with flashlights goes off.

Make hag 115 percent killer and have it so that after teleporting hag cannot attack for X time (probably just 1 - 2 seconds). Hags then allow her to navigate quickly throughout the map and she turns into a standard killer in chase.

Obviously other changes would be needed, but that's where I'd start.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2373406#Comment_2373406

That's just a worst Legion. And it's bad because Legion isn't even that good.

To stop Charlotte from excessively slugging, it's the only way. Otherwise she has to slug, right? Feel free to point out an alternative that would actually stop the core issues with Charlotte. Killers can be buffed but broken unfun killers are like that until the core issue is fixed.

    Charlotte's core issues are :

that if Victor downs a survivor then Charlotte has to travel to the slugged survivor, pick them up and then bring them to the hook. It's much more efficient to leave them slugged and injure or down another survivor and only hooking when you have time or have several survivors downed.

that Charlotte or Victor can remain near a hook to immediately pressure survivors who have unhooked.

    ---

This change effectively removes both of these scenerios. Yes, you could leave charlotte near the hook, but then you won't be able to down survivors, only injure them. Or you could leave victor near the hook, but now Victor can only injure and attach himself to survivors but not down.

Once that core problem is fixed, we can start buffing other attributes of either Victor or Charlotte to the point where we get an interesting killer.

  • I've made this comment in the past and will make it again. All of the flaws that the twins have go away if Victor loses his ability to down survivors. If victor attacks a healthy survivor they get head crabbed again. This would obviously make the Twins garbage tier, but once that change is made you can start to Buff all sorts of things with twins.

    Buffs.

You can change to and from Victor at any time

Switching is immediate and no cool down

When Victor locks a survivor in a locker , Breaking out of the locker works the same way as a trappers trap

When victor face crabs a survivor he no longer immediately switches back to charlotte, you can, if you choose to detach yourself from the survivor if there's another survivor nearby that you would like to head crab

Survivors that are head crabbed are hindered

Blindness is still great at the prevention of Aura reading of static Interactables, if applied evenly.

It cucks me whenever I try to use Detectives Hunch and it is applied to me when I try to shoutout Hex locations to members of my SWF.

Really the only time it doesn't work is against the masking of Hook Aura's and Slugged Aura's in SWF's.

However it's great against non-obvious Interactables.

So long as they're well hidden and not in obvious spots.

That's not a bad place to go from then. Have it so that aura's of hooked and downed survivors are not affected by blindness and then buff or change anything that uses blindness perhaps giving perks that currently have a blindness effect blindness and deafness. And being deaf as survivor can make an impact in chase, so it's decently strong verses SWFs.

  • Furtive Chase, Nemesis, Rancor, Dark Devotion.

Furtive Chases exists to swap the obsession. Whenever the obsession changes, that survivor becomes oblivious and you see their aura with nemesis. You can often times catch them unexpectedly. If someone pallet stuns you and they become the obsession, if you're able to land an M1 you will then become undetectable. This can allow you to get some more sneaky hits, gen grabs etc. And finally at the end of the game the obsession is exposed, in addition to that anytime a generator is completed the location of all survivors is revealed. Which can come in surprisingly clutch. I do not recommend using the Mori at all. Use the exposed effect to hook the obsession and when they are unhooked the unhooker becomes exposed. allowing you to one shot them. Your goal if all gens are done is to slug all survivors and hook the obsession. If the obsession is death hook try to slug at least one other person before you sacrifice them.

  • Getting 1 generator out of the game just means that there are 4 more generators that need to be done. But getting 1 survivor out of the game is a guaranteed win, unless you're entirely incompetent.

What's more is that the whole point of the activity is to prevent the survivor an opportunity to hide or run away. Tunneling off of hook is a low effort, low skill strategy that then puts survivors into a no win situation. What's more is that you already understand this and that's exactly why you're trying to defend it. And what's more with the recent changes to Decisive Strike, you are no longer penalized for playing in this way. You can make light of the situation, but to me, there's nothing impressive about winning by getting someone out of the match ASAP. It's literally one step above basement camping Bubba.

There is no chance he is stronger than Nurse or Spirit. I’m sure stats will show him as doing well since most can’t play survivor well.

Blight is seeing competitive play, so his power level isn't too drastically different than either nurse or spirit. And it's not like in competitive play Nurse or Spirit are 4k'ing every match. So they're not some unstoppable gods either.

So... was he was good in every loop in the game? Does he excel in every single map in the game?

The issue with Billy is that he is a very map-reliant killer. He'll struggle on maps like Lery's, Hawkins, The Game, and Raccoon City.

On certain maps his mobility can be inconsistent, you'll have to cancel your chainsaw at times. Blight's able to handle this better.

He's a lot harder than most of the killers in the game, believe it or not. You should've tried playing him with no add-ons before his nerf.

Billy players shot Billy in the foot. If it wasn't for the fact that his best add-ons were nearly always abused he wouldn't have been so heavily nerfed.

  • If your teammates are injured and they need time to heal, it may be worth holding onto victor while they heal. Or if you feel that you are going to get ambushed by charlotte then hold onto victor until you can confirm that you're safe. Otherwise it's best to get victor off.

  • I hate this idea that a perk needs to be 100 percent counter-able otherwise it's not balanced. Perks, whether for killer or survivor offers a benefit to that player. The benefit can certainly be oversized, but whether or not it can be countered by their opponent simply does not matter. Stop bringing that up as an argument.

  • Here's how I think Furtive Chase should be buffed.

While chased the survivor does not hear the chase music. The stacks for getting furtive chase go from 4 meters per stack to 8 meters per stack. Killing the obsession does not remove all stacks.

This would allow for a 32 meter terror radius reduction with max stacks and the survivor that you're chasing would not get music notification that they're in a chase. The survivor would hear the terror radius, until the chase begins.

  • Furtive Chase + Rancor is one of my favorite Meme perk combinations. Furtive Chase + Nemesis is also a lot of fun.

  • Billy is still crazy strong he just requires knowing his kit to do well with him. I honestly think he's what all killers should strive towards, which is a strong killer for those that have mastered them, but no killer should get you easy downs. The worst offender of the latter is leather face. An entirely mediocre killer that's requires no skill but gets easy downs against bad survivors. Even against good survivors he can just eat all the pallets around his 3 gen, get a down when a survivor enters his territory hook them in the center of the 3 gen, force death and then use NOED to guarantee at least one more kill post game.

  • The turning is capped and most Blight mains are using high DPI, so those literally do nothing. Summoning stone does nothing, Adrenaline Vial is laughably bad, Rose Tonic hurts you more than it helps you. The one that reduces your cool-down doesn't work when you swing out of your attack. There's a reason the ones you listed are the only add-ons used.

Also any perk that uses an insta-down doesn't work with Blights rush, so no make your choice, NOED, etc.

  • Hag needs a rework.

She's too weak in a chase and broken around hooks.

  • @SleepyWillo said:

Fewer and fewer people run DS for killers to really worry about it anymore.

And whats worse is that since the nerf people have figured out that the minor stun you get from eating it isnt that big of a deal.

If they reverted the DS change now I doubt you'd see a decrease in tunneling now...

Eating 1 DS was never an issue. It was eating 3 or 4 DSes in a match that would guarantee a loss. And since very few games have all 4 survivors running DS any longer there's every incentive to tunnel someone out of the match.

I had been putting up several posts in the forums as a killer main, that as soon as the change was reverted killers would tunnel if they thought they could get away with it.

And why did I know that killers would do that, because when I'm in the middle of a match, that's exactly what I would do if I needed to win. And I'm not toxic or anything, but if I'm a big bad wolf and there's 3 little piggies, I might blow down some houses if you know what I mean.

I got 34 cakes with 1.5 million bps. I definitely think something isn't right if you only got 2.

  • Mastering is so subjective and is largely related to the skill ceiling of the killer.

I have 3 killers that I can consistently 4k at rank 1, and those are Blight , Spirit, and Oni.

These are all really strong killers, so it doesn't say much to say that I can do well with them at rank 1. I didn't learn these killers because they were strong, I picked each of them up when they were brand new and just loved each of their designs and really worked to learn how to use their abilities. But maybe I just enjoy playing with killers with strong chase powers which is an important aspect of overall killer strength in DBD.

  • WGLF hurt Oni more than many people realized. I think in terms of tier rating he's generally ranked too high. He's honestly bottom of A tier now because he relies on slugging and just a couple of WGLF or unbreakables can absolutely destroy any attempts at getting pressure.

  • If there were to be a killer who's power was at random at the end of the game, they could mori 2 survivors guaranteed. But the other 2 survivors would always escape, would you consider that OP, Balanced, or Trash.

    Overall skill expression matters.

For a new player who's just starting with DBD Wraith is overpowered. They'll be basically given free hits, hooks, and sacrifices without having to know how to loop.

Once the Wraith starts to verse competent pub survivors he is fairly balanced.

And in a competitive match, he's complete trash. He can be light burned and a flash light can prevent wraith from cloaking at all in chase, a good survivor can prevent him from body blocking a window vault, and group communication means that he will never catch a survivor out positioned.

  • He's the easiest killer in Dead by Daylight to play and the most advanced skill that you can learn with him is his out of stealth dash and lunge. So, his skill ceiling is very low, his skill ceiling is about the same level as his skill floor and he's top of B tier or bottom of A tier.

To put it in another way, he's roughly as strong as Demogorgon but requires much less skill to play well. You could take a killer with about 50 hours in this game and only using Wraith and they'd be able to beat survivors with 200 - 400 hours in this game.

  • Remove bloodlust! If you want survivors to play pallets and loops than make it so they can play pallets and loops without the hand holding mechanic of bloodlust.

I'd say Nurse and Spirit are constantly used and the other 2 are niche, fun picks. Nurse is actually pretty easy to play. And I disagree, I think killer has a way higher skill ceiling than survivor. Most of your survivor gameplay consists of holding a button and sometimes looping which requires simply knowing where the killer is and being efficient with your movement. Killer, you have to keep track of gens, keep track of each survivor and how many times they've been hooked, mind game at the few loops that you can, interrupt heals and gen progress, etc.

How easy something to pick up is called a skill floor. Something having a low skill floor does not mean that it will have a low skill ceiling. So yes, I agree survivor has a low skill floor. I disagree with you when you say that survivor has a low skill ceiling though, otherwise survivors wouldn't be able to compete with killers in tournaments because the skill ceiling for killer is much lower than survivor because killers don't have to work with anyone, they play by themselves. The skill ceiling for survivor comes from team work. The parts that you discribed are easy, but that's just the survivor skill floor.

  • yes bite the bullet + object of obsession. What an amazing perk combination that is. It's not like they don't actually work together. /s

  • It should hide aura, otherwise I think the perk is perfect.

  • @GuyFawx said:

I really feel like nemesis first attack needs to both infect and injure having it be 3 hits is whats holding him back alot

I could see this being a tier 3 ability. Like you've hit tier 3 and now even if the survivor uses the vaccine they'll still get hit. Would make him a bit better toward mid to end game.

  • The suggested fixes would literally destroy the game. The meta of making distance and then extending a chase by going around a loop has been the strategy forever. It's just that it hasn't been put into words like that before. The whole reason that survivors are playing so safe is that killers have been buffed to a point where every killer is strong and trying to preserve resources will just get you killed if you're going verses a killer who's worth their salt.

If killer is so easy, why are only 2 killers played in tournament?

four killers are being used regularly in tournament play right now, they are Nurse, Blight, Hag, and Spirit. And I've seen all of these killers get 4ks in tournament environments.

Tournament play is not an indicator of how hard or easy something is. So your question of if killer is so easy why are there only 2 killers played in tournament doesn't make sense because regardless of how hard or easy something is, at a tournament level what is used is simply what is strongest regardless of how easy or hard it is. Nurse is the strongest killer right, she sees regular play in tournaments, does that mean that Nurse is the easiest killer in Dead by Daylight? The answer is rhetorical, so I'll answer it right now. No nurse is not the easiest killer, but she has the highest skill ceiling in Dead by Daylight, which means that she has the potential to be used in tournaments.

Also, note that the higher skill ceiling is with survivor and not killer. Which is the reason why survivors become more powerful, where most killers hit their skill ceiling, survivors don't. Survivor skill comes in being able to run an opponent who is faster than you, be able to understand each killer power and how to run each killer, and in being able to work together to work on generators; unhook safely; and protect each other in chase.

In my opinion he's F Tier. And no one puts him in B tier. He has the weakest early game of all killers. A power that runs out and isn't that imposing He's only saved by add-ons.

It's funny you say that he's F tier because in patch 2.3.3 it was being argued that he was the 3rd strongest killer, right behind Nurse and Hillbilly and 4th was listed as Clown.

  • I'm going to go kinda the opposite direction of everyone here. I'm really loving adrenaline vial and Blighted Crow on Blight. Not because it's good, but because it really forces you to play better with Blight. Any advice on how to effectively play demogorgon? Not sure if it's me but he seems really weak.

Killers tend to boil down to one of two groups. Killers that are strong but survivors can learn to counter their power and killers that become strong the more that the killer learns to use their power.

Killers in the first category seem OP in low ranks and the latter tend to be the strongest at high ranks.

Examples of killers that fit into the first category are Leatherface, Freddy, and Doctor

Examples of killers that fit into the second category are Nurse, Blight, and Huntress

Demo is definitely in the second category but he's a bit weaker than Nurse, Blight, and Huntress so he doesn't see a whole lot of play because he's both hard to use and comparatively weak. That being said I would still put Demo into A tier, so he's still one of the strongest killers in the game, if you've learned how to use him.

  • @van9684 said:

I see a lot of complaining on here about how awful and difficult it is to play killer, how unfair the game is, yet most of you are killer mains. So why is that?

I played killer only for a long time and it was just too easy. After that initial learning of the game, I never had to get better or develop new skill so I switched to survivor. I also like the teamwork aspect. So, why do you continue to play killer if it’s so bad and makes you angry?

So, first of all, I hate this talk of "bla bla bla requires no skill" There are easier and harder roles in this game, but if nothing took skill everyone would end up being the same rank and matchmaking would not matter.

The skills that you use when playing killer and survivor are very similar, the pressure is very different. There's more pressure as killer because you need results and you need them now.

With survivor, there isn't that kind of pressure. With survivor it's a game of endurance, you're trying to give your team mates more time to work on generators. However, a mistake that's big enough can cost your team the match.

The difficulty curve is also very different for killer and survivor. For survivor it's a complete gamble on how strong the killer is, they could be a total potato or they could be a god.

For killer though, the power levels are in a way tiered, this is because match making will generally try to put people of the same rank together.

So as you get better and rank up, you may have gone verses 4 rank 14 survivors last game, but are now versing 4 rank 12 survivors. The difficulty level between the 2 is enormous. And it only becomes more of an issue as you get higher and higher in the ranks. This also leads to the feeling of unfairness, where you may have just won a game and then the next game you go verses a team where each player is individually better than you, and it feels incredibly unfair. And when you get good enough to beat that group then you go up against another team that makes you feel that same way again.

The difference between getting 4 rank 2 survivors and 4 rank 1 survivors is night and day and the difference between versing 4 rank 1 survivors and versing a competitive team like Oracle is a whole other level.

If you want to see just how brutal a game verses a comp group can be, watch the matches where TruTalent went verses Oracle.

Now it becomes a common argument that because a group like Oracle is nearly unbeatable, that that is evidence that Killer is under powered. To which I say to that is that you're cherry picking. If you actually watch comp games, killers 4k just as often as they lose. It tends to be a blowout one way or the other, and that's just because this game has a tendency to snowball. Competitive Killer players can verse competitive survivors and that should not be a surprise to anyone.

So in summary, every role requires skill. The group that wins is generally the better player(s), and each role can end up feeling oppressive to the other group which ends up in people getting their egos hurt and coming to the forums to complain about balance.

  • I wish BT was basekit honestly, you can make up some lore reason for it to be basekit because getting tunneled off of hook when your team mate isn't running it is the worst. And it really limits what builds you can run because it does feel that BT is a necessary perk slot.

  • Otz, OhTofu, KaiZ, I used to watch FunGoose before he moved onto playing LoL. When it came to playing survivor FunGoose was just on an entire other level from anyone else I've ever seen. Despite being a killer main, what I loved from him was his survivor content.

  • Most strong perks use basic attacks, such as NOED, Make Your Choice, STBFL, etc. which Blight can't get use out of. In addition to this Blight is able to pressure generators the best out of any killer.

I've tried quite a few different builds on Blight, but they always end up feeling fairly memie.

The build that I actually did the best with outside of the meta was , Dark Devotion, Rancor, Nemesis, Furtive Chase.

Dark Devotion surprised me the most, but what is generally a weakness ends up being a strength, because Blight is often attacking using his Blighted rush it means that just because the obsession is hit doesn't mean that Blight has lost his terror radius, but he might have. Nemesis is used to grant the oblivious status effect when the obsession changes, which will happen more often because of furtive chase. Rancor is useful because it shows the location of all survivors every time a generator gets completed and allows you to one shot the obsession at the end of the game. In addition you never want to take advantage of the Mori, at end game hook the obsession and when they're unhooked the savior becomes the obsession, they can be one shot down and you can focus on the unhooked survivor, if they use DS then they become the obsession which allows for the shenanigans to continue. All in all I actually loved this build. That being said it's a bit weaker than.

So I was going to post this after it happened, but I've been busy responding to others on here. So about half an hour ago, I was playing Nurse. I didn't miss a single blink. Not one(I'm proud of this 😂)

But guess how many kills I got? Two. The match lasted maybe 5 minutes, and I got ten hooks in that time. I still only get two kills.

So tell me. How is it fair that survivors doing gens quickly can nearly beat a Nurse playing perfectly? And it's not that I'm salty about not getting a 4k, I was just thinking:

If they got two people out against a Nurse that was playing perfectly, then they would definitely get at least 3 out with any other killer.

This needs fixing. It takes absolutely no skill to do this when it's the most powerful thing in the game.

If you want me to take you seriously post the video footage from the game.
