  • This is a good idea. This should work with all distance required perks. Light em up when they are in the right distance to or from the target.

  • If this happened to me I would probably die laughing, but I can understand the frustration if you actually care about the kills. A 1-2 second immunity after being stunned is not too much to ask I think.

That's horrible. My daughter has a ps5 and has never had that happen to my knowledge. However, we were on Xbox when this happened. Never had my xbox crash except on 1 game. (Mechwarrior 5)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3112521#Comment_3112521

I play survivor too so I know the 10 seconds does add up. And if it was mid match I wouldn't even ask. But I had hooked him with 1 Gen left. He probably had 20k points easy without the cake and flan. He would have had 70k points most likely. I just don't understand why.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3112328#Comment_3112328

I guess? But I only slugged one person that match and that's cause I felt bad when I lost an unhooker and accidentally downed the person who was just unhooked. I then blight rushed away from the area and let them get full health again. It wasn't the Jake.

I don't record my matches so it's my word that I wasn't being "toxic" during the match.

Does she have the digital only version? It might matter. My son and I both have the disc version. If you ever have the crash you will have to unplug the PS5 completely, then plug it back in to even turn it on.

Could be but considering it happened right after a down or hook it probably wasn’t the connection.

I got fairly lucky in my disconnects, as I was always in a position that everyone would wonder what happened, there was no reason to dc. My son, on the other hand, was completely embarrassed, because most of his would be right after the killer hooked him or right at the end of a chase. This is because his luck with being found right away is about 75% and he loves the chase so it usually worked out well for us. Then he'd get kicked and it was never a great situation. Thankfully this was all before the mid chapter patch. We've been good to go on the PS4 version for a few weeks now.

  • Though there is no way to tell, it is entirely possible this wasn't a person choosing to DC.

There is a horrible bug right now where if you are playing almost any PS5 game (DBD, Genshin Impact, Dying Light 2, Stray all cause this) on PS5 (you can play PS3 and PS4 games on it too), then your system just suddenly dies once every thirty minutes or so. I've reported it here on the forums, but it isn't affecting everyone so getting it looked at by Sony or BHVR (or any of the other developers) is like a full time job for the players as opposed to the people that would actually get paid to fix it.

If you are encountering this bug, switch to the PS4 version on your PS5 and you should be good. I played PS4 DbD on the same PS5 for around 100 hours since someone suggested it here, and have had ZERO crashes since then.

So, it is entirely possible that they are experiencing this bug. Before I switched to the PS4 version I crashed in DBD all over the place. A few times in game, mostly in the queue, once I even crashed while leveling in the bloodweb. In GI I've crashed while sitting outside the game on the main menu. Games that have the PS4 version will run on the same exact hardware and not cause this crash. My son, who also has a PS5 and is also experiencing the exact same problem, had the same problem with Stray, that new cat game, and he switched to the PS4 version and it was immediately fixed just like DbD.

  • I just want to not be forced to prestige. We should be allowed to sit at 50 like before. What does it even get you? A bunch of people making fun of how much time you wasted?

my survivor queues are 0 seconds. I press READY and I find a game. You're telling me I'm being matched with new killers because it's only me that's playing? :P

If a killer has been waiting several minutes, they will be matched with whoever is available, even if that survivor/team doesn't meet their MMR. That's how it works once the system decides to disregard MMR in order to just get a game going.

In some ways it is really great. Sometimes you'll get grouped against players that are much more skilled than you, and hopefully you can learn from that, and other times you will be the teacher. Remember to be a good winner!

  • I feel like sometimes people forget that the queue will spit you into a match with anyone, if they have or you have been waiting. The MMR will disregard your rank and your opponent's rank entirely, just so you can get in a match and play.

  • Unless there is a person out there going for this that either has a bunch of blood saved from refunds from BHVR issues or saved in the Tomes or unless they give us an extended blood hunt that someone who is going for 100 grinds through, then I think we shouldn't see anyone with 100 until the end of the year or early next year.

  • I play both roles, more survivor because I play with my son, but when I play killer I main Shape and it is a ton a fun to pull this off. The survivors are constantly guessing, "Is he gonna do it?" and, "I bet he's just new." I love it from both points of view, and it is by far the best and most well thought out ability for any killer they put in DbD.

Could it be easier to do, sure, but then it would be too powerful. Though, now that levels 1-24 of the web are required BEFORE you can get any decent add-ons it is a major problem to get both of the things you need. That is an issue with the web though, not Myers.

If you are playing as survivors and you are worried Shape is trying to do this, you need to figure out where he is and don't stand in front of him! It's that easy to avoid giving away the free kill. I've got one word for you: SEPARATE!

If you are Shape and trying to pull this off, good luck! I hope you stand back while three or four survivors all sit on the same gen thinking that you are afking or something, because I love the feeling of terror they are going to experience when they realize they screwed up majorly.

This is the point of DBD, the reason WE ALL ARE HERE! That moment of surprise when you realize the killer is rushing YOU, and you are going to die. It's great, and it needs to stay in the game the way it is.

  • Sounds like someone needs to git gud at being human. Your experience isn't everyone's experience. Just because your experience is different doesn't mean that everyone else is automatically wrong or lying. Think about that, and then you will realize that being a jerk to those people that are having trouble, is being a bad human being.

  • That's interesting. I've suggested that giving voice comms to all survivors and then balancing the game is the best solution.

However, they haven't listened to that suggestion and I've been saying it for years, so my best suggestion to get them to listen is to flat out stop playing. Take a month break, maybe a couple months. If the die hard killer mains that vehemently deny that anything is wrong are the only ones playing then you will see fixes come.

  • Before EGC the match would just kick you out if it lasted too long. I can't remember the exact time, but I think it was like one hour and twenty minutes or so. That's how much time the hatch standoff would last if the survivor decided not to even try for hatch.

I would like to say thank you for keeping that hacker busy!

  • Without a doubt. Especially when there is almost always a tome challenge to search chests every level of the tome.

It used to be fairly useful but self care was better. Now self care is pretty bad too, so just bring Circle of Healing, or a gray medkit.

I don’t know what you mean by added hooks. A lot of maps still have terrible hook placements, Midwich for example, and they even removed some really good hooks like the basement one on Badham.

Totem placement is just as bad as it ever was. They made totem spawns great on Dead Dawg then decided “screw that” and then went back to placing them next to gens or out in the open next to a random tree. All of the new and reworked maps have terrible spawns.

EGC was needed to stop people holding the game hostage. If this community weren’t so toxic it wouldn’t have been needed.

Medkits are still the strongest item in the game and with new perks like CoH and Built to Last they’ve gotten stronger. Not to mention Emergency Medkit was actually BUFFED with the medkit rework and is now the strongest item in the game.

Toolboxes are still really powerful, even BNP.

Keys I’ll agree with, but Mori’s were also nerfed just as hard so it’s not really a “killer sided change”.

So, read my post above yours and you'll see what I was talking about. The point that apparently I didn't make obvious enough and will say simply here again. BHVR tends to overdo it, and we are still to this day playing a game where they have overnerfed things that needed a slight precision change, not a bludgeon.

They literally added so many hooks that the struggle option only works if survivors body block and sabotage directly in front of the killer as a team. Before, you could sabotage one hook and it would mean if the killer picked you up you could wiggle free before they could reach another hook. Now, it is the other extreme.

Yep, totem placement sucks. EGC was needed.

Medkits are the only useful item left, even though they were much much much more useful before, unless the survivor is good with a flashlight or they have spare part or repair item perk.

Toolboxes are nearly worthless without a spare part or the perk that repairs them. Even more useless because the killer can just bring one perk that gets rid of them, and if more than one player brings a toolbox most killers will bring that perk because they are still so afraid of the overnerfed toolbox or the chance of a spare part. Imagine the uproar if survivors had a perk that destroyed a killers hard earned blood bought add-ons with one pallet drop. The killer mains would be begging for that to go away.

The mori nerf was too much, but I will say this is not a trade. Moris can be nerfed or fixed exclusively, they weren't a combat to keys or vice versa in my experience.

These things needed slight changes, but were instead so drastically overdone that in many cases they broke other parts of the game completely. Right now chase is broken. Doing anything besides gens is broken. We have the worst rewards in a tome so far. The worst grind they've ever imagined. What good does the game have going for it? Playing killer is fun, if you can handle the half an hour queue.

This is where the argument comes into play because it's turned into another us vs them situation. I don't have as great a memory going back, but every change that you've mentioned, with the exception of the latest patch, all had a reason behind them that wasn't solely to benefit killers.

Firstly, the totem placements were downright garbage which made many hex perks useless regardless of how much power they had. It's been...better for hexes these days.

Endgame Collapse was created to keep the game from being held hostage by survivors. When the last survivor was standing, they'd sneak around the map and never been found for ridiculous amounts of time. This leads into hatch also being reworked to guarantee an endgame collapse or a survivor escape, thus removing the ability to take the game hostage.

Now to the survivor items. Tool boxes were quite powerful for a certain amount of time, especially with brand new part. It made gens take only a few seconds with a certain combo of perks. Medkits are still...medkits? Everyone knows by now that they are the strongest item in the game while a green medkit gives you three heals over the course of a match. Then there's keys. Currently keys can only reopen the hatch in endgame collapse if it had been closed. Before that entire teams could escape midgame regardless of how good the killer was and regardless of how many gens or work was out in.

Some of these things were made or changed to remedy bad game design that was easily abusable. Others were simply overtuned mechanics that gave a bigger edge than wanted. Moving to this patch, why were killers catered too more? They were quite literally underperforming and needed a lift that didn't come in the form of a bandaid fix perk or chapter.

Just to be clear, you read into what I said as me saying these things were not necessary. Some of those changes were absolutely necessary. First and foremost the murder of dead hard. Decisive was overkilled though, as a three second timer isn't enough to escape.

I hated standing at the hatch for nearly an hour most games, waiting for the survivor to finally find it and hoping that I pressed the button to grab them fast enough. Totem placement is still trash. I almost never bring hexes to a match because I almost always have the beacon totems or the out in the middle of a field totems even after the 'fixes'. The purple addon to medkits was actually worth bringing into a match, it was reworked liked dead hard. The usefullness of the toolboxes was nerfed into almost uselessness. The four man hatch escapes with keys was infuriating, but now they've almost entirely eliminated the use of the hatch completely.

The point of what I was saying is that it wasn't just one thing. They have been drastically over-doing it when it comes to survivor nerfs and killer buffs for years. They keep on doing the same thing, taking something that is a little bit unbalanced and smashing it with a sledge hammer fix. It is a long time coming and just too many swings of that sledge hammer all at once.

  • @dbd900bach said:

So among all the post screaming that Dbd is dead or that solo Q is unplayable, I really want to exactly why.

Firstly though I want to be clear on the things I think aren't the reason, the first being general killer buffs. Did they make killers like Blight a little unbearable? Maybe, but it didn't make killer OP as a whole. Then there's the slight nerfs to survivor but again, it's no where near big enough to have a meaningful impact.

The only real reasons I've heard are is the dead hard nerf and the slow down killer meta. I genuinely want to know what's causing this survivor strike

That's the problem. It wasn't just one thing. This update had several major changes to the game that made things easier for killers to win, while also severly nerfing two major crutches that a majority of survivors were using. Most killer mains won't admit it, but the past two plus years have seen a constant rebalancing to appease the killer mains. From my memory it started with additions of hooks, trying to fix totem placement, a revamp of the endgame (adding the collapse) entirely to the benefit of killers, the total annihilation of almost every single item that survivors use (they severly nerfed Medkits, Toolboxes, and using a key on the hatch is a joke now), and then, finally, they got around to the major buffs of this update.

So, what out of this patch specifically did they do that was overdone? They buffed how fast bloodlust is earned, how long it takes to finish generators, some aggressive slow down perks, and they took away the two things most survivors were using to escape the killer.

Again, this has been snowballing for a long time. People are only now hearing the avalanche in the distance. I love the change to bloodlust, it is fun to be fast as killer in a chase, and I truly hope that if they revert only the change to generator timers that they might reach a more reasonable balance.

  • It should take around 200 days to get that much blood, if the person plays DbD pretty much all day every day.

yeah but killer queues are oversaturated, if they fix matchmaking incentives and balance a few things it should be fine, hopefully next tuesday

I don't see the incentives fixing anything. They broke the grind with that update. They added an insane amount to that grind. Now you have to level 1-24 to get a single item or add-on you might actually want. 6-800,000 blood wasted every presitge! Then less than 25 items/add-ons you might actually want or need, and repeat!

I hope that everyone with any amount of intelligence and a bit of willpower to stop their addiction will realize that the grind is horrendous, and stop participating in it.

We need the option to NOT prestige.

  • I believe the toll to prestige exists as a way for them to pretend they didn't just make you waste your blood. They put it in place so that if enough people complain about it, then they will remove it and use that as proof that they are listening. They already did this once.

The problem isn't the toll. The problem is the fact that level 1-24 don't have a single thing you actually want to buy in them, so you have to spend 6-800,000 blood or so to even get back to webs where you want to buy things.

Think about that, you people are complaining about the toll when you are totally missing the actual grind!

  • @jesterkind said:

How can you be sure that the killers you brand as "inexperienced/new" actually were? Did you check their hourcounts?

Also, what adaptations did you make to adjust for the changes to the game in the current patch- your perk builds, your overall strategies, the approach you took to various situations?

Wanting to use facts is admirable, so let's continue that by making sure that the extremely limited data pool we have is as accurate as possible. One person is already a very poor representative sample, after all, especially so soon after the change.

How can I be sure? Because I am experienced. If you go into a match and know how the game works from both points of view, and have two points of view into the match on the survivors' side, you see a very clear picture of what is happening in the match. Also, after one of us dies I can see directly through the eyes of the remaining survivors as well. We watch through until the end. We record every match. We evaluate the perks used. It is easy to tell when a killer is inexperienced. There are a ton of things that tell you immediately when you are playing against a player that is inexperienced. I enjoy playing killer more than survivor, but the reason we even bother to turn the game on is to play together.

We didn't use DH or DS, so other than dropping Iron Will from my build our playstyles haven't changed much. For my build, except when doing challenges, I am currently using Borrowed Time, Lithe, Lucky Break, and Quick and Quiet. My son uses Borrowed Time, Lithe, Fast Track, and Stake Out. I regularly escape chases after the killer finally gets the first hit in, and my son regularly loops the killer for a gen or two each match. Unfortunately, that means he regularly gets targeted for camping and tunneling. We aren't here looking for tips. We know how to play and play well. I am here to warn the developers that they made a mistake, and hope that they actually listen to the facts instead of the people that just want to exploit the situation, so that the game doesn't die before they take action.

This past month we have recorded ~200 matches, besides the 15 farmers or inexperienced players we are counting since the patch, we only faced farming/new players about once every fifty games. It is clear that the some of the killer player base is trying to maliciously skew the numbers so that BHVR cannot look at their data and see clearly that the survival rate just got obliterated.

    -

For the thread: As an update, we have played another 11 matches.

I played a match as Trapper (I main Myers but usually play Trapper for challenges) where I killed all four survivors on first hook, with two gens done, and all I was trying to do was damage six gens. I brought no add-ons or offerings, just Discordance, Overcharge, Brutal Strength, Tinkerer. It was the easiest game I've ever played as killer.

There were a lot of farmers this morning, letting players go after getting several hooks and/or a couple kills to skew the numbers and keep their matchmaking lower. I have no idea how BHVR has any hope to see this in their data, unless they listen to the players like me that are telling them that a lot of the killers are cheating to skew the data so that BHVR can't see things clearly.

The totals now stand at 45 matches (1 killer, 44 survivor).

One clear win (on RCPD - killer killed one player with NOED), 15 farms/new players/killer disconnects, and 29 total losses. We reached Iridescent Grades doing this. Talk about failing upwards.

    -

I feel there is no need to continue to input data here. I've given our point of view and it hasn't changed. To reiterate the situation. Escape perks were nerfed. Camping, tunneling, and most importantly killer speeds were buffed. Gen repair speeds were also slowed down. All combined broke the game. I like the first four changes (though some of them went a little bit too far), and I think it might be possible to make the game work without the ten second increase to the gen timer. It isn't working right now, at least not for us and the 58 other survivors that played with us in those losing matches the past three days.

  • So to update my post.

Nine more games. That makes 34 total survivor matches. Add one to the farming list, one to the inexperienced list, and six more matches where we didn't stand a chance. We actually had one, exactly one game where the killer seemed to have some skill and seemed to try and didn't kill everyone. Only one of us died that match. It was in the RPD. That means, out of 34 matches, we had ONE win, played farming simulator nine times, and LOST COMPLETELY 24 times.

It cannot be more obvious, and anyone denying it is rooting for DbD's demise. The addition of 10 seconds to the gen timer along with all these other changes was way too much. Revert the gen timer change and we might get to play this game a while longer.

I think hooked survivors should just die instantly once the EGC starts.

    That's not a bad idea.

  • Killers are winning an most matches, like 9/10 or more. The worst part is that survivors in solo queue are flat out DCing often and the killers in those matches don't even relax a little bit even though they already got a free kill.

The problem for me has absolutely nothing to do with DH or DS, I didn't use those in my builds. It is the increase of 10 seconds to every generator that was a major mistake. That needs to be reverted immediately. What were they thinking, nerfing the two biggest crutches for survivors at the exact same time as making the task more difficult to complete?

  • My complaint is that the Iridescent items don't appear in the first 24 levels of the bloodweb. Before, I could sit at fifty and spend my blood on mostly worthwhile items. Now I have to level up wasting about 800,000 blood just to get to a tier that has a CHANCE of having an item you would actually want to buy. Then you have 26 tiers that have only a chance at a single iridescent, then you get to do 24 more of nothing...

By "grind relief" did they mean you wouldn't want to level anymore so you will never have to grind again?!

  • @Cryopier said:

Unless you were working toward a teachable perk and didn't quite make it. Then you WILL lose progress.

Not quite, you still can level to 50 once and get the better than a teachable tier 1 unlocks when you Prestige 1. Grind!

  • I noticed that a character I had brought up to Prestige 1 had lost it after I shut off and restarted the game.

The point is, for whatever reason the game didn't save the act of Prestiging. I had to spend blood to save my progress. So if you got on Monday night and clicked the prestige button on several characters but didn't do a single thing other than that you probably didn't save that happening and when you closed the game they all reverted.

Good luck with the support ticket!

  • I think it should be increased by 150%, and the survivor you camped should get awarded the blood for this fine.

  • How does this even work with matchmaking? I mean, just because there are less survivors overall doesn't mean there are less survivors in your specific matchmaking rank versus your specific killer matchmaking rank.

Seems like there are not any matchmaking considerations for these bonuses.

  • For killer I am happy with Tinkerer nerf and I can't wait to try Knockout with Trail of Torment.

For Survivor I am not happy with Iron Will and Self Care nerfs but I don't mind a buff to Borrowed Time.

Really, I think they have just changed the meta a little bit so the most used perks will be COH on survivor and BBQC on killer. Which means they haven't changed much unless you don't know how to play without Dead Hard and/or Decisive Strike. The only time I ever used either was when I have to stun the killer for a challenge so it doesn't affect me.

  • I agree with this wholeheartedly. Lobby dodgers are going to make matches take forever to start.

  • I didn't like the first episode, and I've been a fan of the series since the original PS1 game.

It is directed entirely at the younger generations, instead of trying to win over the older fanbase.

I won a game against this survivor and all he has been doing is harassing me in Steam, Dead by daylight and Twitch and calling me slurs in all these platforms

Sure, you can report them through BHVR, and they might get in trouble with DbD, but if they have gone so far as trying to harass you through other sites you have other options. You can get them banned from all of those platforms by reporting the messages that they sent you, in some cases causing them to lose access to their games. Don't just block them, REPORT them along with the blocking. That is the only way they will learn that in the adult world it is unacceptable to verbally harass other people.

  • @Gary_Coleman said:

I've never seen anyone cheat on dbd... that I know of. In what ways do people cheat on dbd?

I was playing Wraith and could barely keep up with a Steve while cloaked.

I was playing Myers and a Bill I had just downed teleported across the map.

My son was playing Demigorgon and the team of two cheaters he was facing had infinite dead hard, and when they accidently ran into a wall with it and were downed they couldn't be hooked.

    and about a dozen more...

We took video of all of it, and reported them with video evidence. It has calmed down a lot since then, but the huge leap in cheaters was caused by DbD being totally free for a while so cheaters make a million accounts and when they are found they just use a new account and start over. I think it was recently free again so be prepared to run into them all over.

  • Unless you've p1'd every character you don't regularly play then you are missing an opportunity to save yourself about 3 million blood per character!

If you've brought some of your characters only to 40 for teachables it will run you around 600,000 blood to flip prestige 1.

If you don't already know this information. In the July update from the devs they mentioned that the reward for characters that have already prestiged will be +2 prestige per previously bought prestige level. This means if you prestige once on those characters you only unlocked the teachables on before Tuesday, you will get the tier 3 perks on all corresponding characters permanently after the update. WARNING!: IF YOU PRESTIGE A CHARACTER NOW IT WILL LOSE ALL PERKS, ITEMS, AND ADD-ONS. After the update you will keep those things. This is for those characters that you don't play, but want their perks to be tier 3 permanently on all current and future characters.

Again, it will run you around 1.5 million blood to level 1-50, and there is a toll at 50 of 20k blood to prestige after the update.

So, if you aren't playing now just to wait a few days, you will be kicking yourself when you realize the grind relief added a 3 million+ per teachable only character grind, and a 9 million+ grind for characters you haven't unlocked. Both of those can be avoided only now, with a 1.5 million or 600k blood grind which is A LOT less!

If you are wondering whether it is worth it to prestige up your other characters that you have leveled a bit, here is a well made guide I found. https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/vxhk53/prestige_catchup_update_should_you_prestige_to/

As a big fan of RE/SH, I'd love to have the Legendary skins as well, but considering they don't even have their own perks and are quite expensive, I'm wondering if they're even worth buying.

Have you guys bought them? If so what are your thoughts.

About a year ago they changed the way certain characters look. I had purchased cosmetics for some of them, and worked to unlock others during events. The point is, if you like the way they look right now, you should consider the fact that they can change that look on a whim. The RE cosmetics were excellent on release, and something that they did during the same time frame actually made them look worse.

It's up to you, but I personally will never trust BHVR with cosmetic purchases again.

I think Kisfenkin is missing a few key components of this

Once you get a perk on the blood web, its there forever, no need to get it again after each Prestige.

Once you P1 - ALL survivors get it automatically - not on their future bloodweb where you then have to get it to actually use it.

This is a huge reduction. If you have all survivors - its 150 levels to give those 3 perks to every survivor at tier 3

I understand entirely how it works.

I have all characters at level 40 or higher. In the current system I can level a new character to 40 and then level a main character 12 levels and I will be done. Total levels required = 52

In order to use the new system at all you have to level 110 more levels. Total levels required = 150.

How is this so difficult to understand. OH, I get it, you are one of those people that ONLY use four perks on every single character. Okay, now let me explain in terms of META PERKS!

You leveled those four characters to 40 to unlock those four perks. Now you have to level them 440 more levels to get access to the grind relief.

440 MORE LEVELS. NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT 440 is not a reduction of grind? What happens when an old perk becomes META? Now you have to grind another 110 levels. What happens when a new character has a meta perk? You have to grind 150 levels to get these rewards.

This is not a reduction. Not even a little bit. What will now happen is that we will see even more amazing perks on new characters that everyone will want to grind prestige-3 for, then they will be nerfed into oblivion. Don't think they use this strategy to sell? I have one thing to say to that, Mettle of Man.

  • Apparently there are a lot of people that don't understand the word REDUCTION. It means less. If you add more work, more grind, you are not reducing the grind.

To be clear I am NOT saying that this move is a bad change. It is an excellent change that should have been included from the beginning of the game. What I am saying is that this is not going to save any one that hasn't already prestige-3'd every single one of their characters ANY time at all. It will cost you more time to get this relief, which means a reward for ADDED grind, NOT A GRIND REDUCTION! Also, a quick word for those that might think they can gain some sort of advantage, I suggest that you DO NOT go out and grind prestige-3 right now. After this change you won't lose your items, right now you still lose everything when you prestige your characters.

So, back to the point. A new player will still have the same exact grind ahead of them in order to play this game. They will not have less grind at all. If you think they will have less grind then you are confused by the hype, which was the entire point of wording this change in this way. I believe something like this was the pitch, 'Let's make the player base think that they are getting something for grind reduction while we are actually going to reward them for more grinding than most of them ever finished before. While we're at it, let's unlock unlimited grind for those who are addicted to grinding and their reward will be that they can brag about being the best at grinding!' I can't wait to laugh at the players that brag, "I'm prestige-4 on killer/survivor!"

  • So here is the question for all those people that believe this is grind reduction.

Scenario: A new player starts after this is out.

Question: How many levels do they have to get to have all perks on one character?

Answer: Still exactly the same. NOTHING HAS OR WILL HAVE CHANGED. For survivors that means 31 x 40 levels. Plus you still have to level the character you want to actively play until they get all perks, or you have to level ALL characters to prestige 3 (that's 31 x 150) to get all perks. That is an insane amount of time that ONLY people who invest 40+ hours a week for years can achieve.

There is no grind reduction in this. Nothing has changed.

You had to get a character to level 40 to make their perks available to be found in other blood webs by chance.

Now when you get a character to 50 and prestige them, every other character automatically learns the level 1 version of all three of that prestige’d characters perks instantly.

Then you can just grab the level 2 and 3 versions of these perks when ever you level the character you want to play.

That isn't in question. The most popular grind relief suggestion was to unlock teachables immediately.

My favorite suggestion was to get rid of tier one and tier two perks completely.

They chose to go with a method that will make players have to level 110 more levels per character to even get that grind reduction.

  • Wrong. We asked for grind reduction.

That is NOT reduction, that is an increase of 150-40=110

    Simple math.

We offered MANY solutions that were acceptable and they used none of the players' ideas, coming up with a way that will make people have to grind more than ever before in order to reach that relief.

  • Either they were working on the adept trophy/achievement, or they were playing one of a couple different 'just for fun' builds that usually include sabotage and the new boil over where they can wiggle free so you leave them and forget they can get up off the ground, or they were sandbagging their teammates.

  • It is just too situational. You've got to hook the survivor on exactly right type of hook, then when they get unhooked you've got to not already be busy chasing someone else. It is at best only a third as good as BBQC. If you are running Make Your Choice or something like that it could be made to be somewhat useful.

Pretty clear to see that the forums are killer sided.

Agreed. I think it is about a killer 10:1 survivor ratio. The killer mains are the squeakiest wheels. Anyone with any intelligence at all can confirm this by looking at the top posts every day. Let's list them now, I put a STRIKE through the threads that are not killer based threads, to be absolutely clear these are NOT necessarily survivor focused threads they just aren't killer focused threads. You can find this information by clicking the Discussions button at the top of your screen:

Anyone else dislike midwichs hook spawns?

COH: passive heal instead of unlocking self care

So the forums is totally killer sided

The Artist is the only killer with no counterplay

The killer should play how he wants without being shamed for it, but the shaming seems incentivized

Can someone explain me how this could happen? (Matchmaking)

Which killer, that you own, don't want to play most of the time and why?

It's funny how easily survivors can overpower killers (Except Blight and Nurse)

Why couldn't wiggle skill checks be an option (when it goes live) like it is now?

Add a perk that reduces cooldown of successful hits

Update the anti-cheat to make it Proton compatible

first time playing as killer and get people who already have 100 more hours in this game?

Really bad mindset to have (Screenshots provided)

Why don't they just put an Early Access tag on the game?

Idea-Zanshin Tactics (to find boon totens)

    Forced Penance buff

Survivor status stuck on "alive" on scoreboard after match ended

I am tired of doing this so I will stop there. That is 11:6 AND IT GOES ON AND ON AND ON. If you don't see it, you can't count. BTW only two of those six are survivor focused threads.

edit: I missed one that was totally survivor sided and two that more that are up in the air so I fixed the count.

  • If you want action to be taken against an actual cheater, the report button is only the start. I believe you have to take video evidence and turn that in to a link you can find here on the forums:

Report cheaters at this link with a link to video evidence of the match that you post on another site like YouTube or Twitter. https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426

I cannot imagine any company that deals with the saltiness this one does ever having the time to read through every single report from the end of the matches. It is an impossibility.

  • I liked the old model more. She used to be my main. Now she is the reason I will never give BHVR money for cosmetics again.

The character you like right now can be changed on the whim of the artists, without your input being taken into consideration. Remember that if you are ever considering buying a cosmetic.

Yes an extremely unviable perk that does nothing else other that allow me hook people. Something I should be able to do without a damn perk.

Do you really think the wiggle bar is not supposed to ever work? It exists because it is supposed to give a chance to wiggle free. Since they added hooks to every map and nerfed sabotage it has been made nearly useless. So it is no surprise that killer's like this one have started to feel entitled to guaranteed hooks. That is not the case. A down does not automatically equal a hook.

Use Iron Grasp if you are worried about making it to the hook. If you know a survivor has this and you didn't bring Iron Grasp, slug them. Then you can use them as bait and hook the other survivor or just ignore them until everyone else is dealt with. If they all have it then you will just have to wish you brought Iron Grasp.

  • For creating matches, no. Not because matches are fairer and skill is being measured properly, but because with SBMM I don't have to wait 30 minutes for a match.

  • For me personally, I don't view the word 'toxic' as a rule breaking term. It means you are ruining the experience, NOT breaking the rules. You are making the game less fun because you are trying to hurt someone else's feelings. If you are breaking the rules I view that as cheating. Cheating leads to reporting leads to banning. That is an entirely different thing.

There are only two things that can be done in a match that are toxic in my book. Survivors that won't leave and butt dance at the exit gate. Killers that hit hooked survivors repeatedly. Neither give you any advantage. Both are mean spirited and are only an attempt to make the other person feel bad. That is toxic. For PC players I would include salty endgame chat to this.

Does it hurt my feelings to encounter these toxic behaviors? No. On the contrary, I would say it makes me think less of you. Nothing is more disappointing than a sore winner.

SWF is an unsolvable problem. There is nothing that can be done to it directly that would not severely affect the playerbase or straight up kill the game.

I don't agree. There are at least two solutions that are feasible if not easily achievable.

It might be difficult, but if they added voice chat into the game then every match would be this way. Which means they could finally balance the game taking into account that the survivors will all be able to communicate. It is a common thing in games now, and I believe any company that has enough to buy all these licenses has enough to do this, but they are choosing not to. Other asymmetrical games are using it though so maybe that will force BHVR's hand.

Another option is to balance SBMM based on SWF. The fact that the SBMM doesn't accurately measure skill, and ignores those somewhat flawed measurements regularly in favor of matchmaking speed, makes that a nearly impossible request.
