@justarandy You may not feel that it is a horror game after your 10 hours of game experience, however it is a horror game, it is officially an Asymmetrical survival horror game. Wether it is scary or not is debated but to say it isn't a horror game is just a flat out lie,

Sooo, when luigis mansion gets "officially" called a horror game it's a horror game?

it's funny to see people actually saying that 3 secs is not a big deal..

Ikr? Or the typical sentence "good nurses will still destroy and will have no issue"

Just shows either entitled survivor mains or simply someone who has 0 clue about how nurse works and performs on the highest level.

(This was originally a reply to someone else but I believe it deserves its own post)

TO ALL PEOPLE THAT THINK SPIRIT IS OK IN HER CURRENT STATE

Imagine that the roles are reversed, when a survivor activates their power every 15 seconds they can go invisible, leave no way of tracking but know exactly where you (the killer) is because of sound, grass, corn etc. Now imagine if this happened at every loop, for every survivor. You wouldn’t want to play. Now imagine this happened more often in red ranks, every few games, or multiple consecutive games in a row. You wouldn’t like GUESSING where the survs go every chase, would you? Now that you have read this, please tell me how, as killer, you would counter the survivors?

    Now switch the roles back.

Because I will be attacked and questioned because I have an opionion, I would like to state now that I am a killer main, because the ‘salty survivor main’ rep that survivor mains have right now was mostly a thing in the past when Nurse mains would do anything to keep their op addons and 5 blinks.

Being a ‘survivor main’ is now used to stereotype you to shrug off your VALID opinions because being a survivor main immediately makes you a whiny, crying baby in the eyes of quite a lot of killer mains. The irony is that survivors have had more taken away from them over the years (understandably so), because of killers crying about imbalance and unfairness. Now that Nurse is more fair, killers are latching on to their next big offendor (Spirit) and are doing anything to keep her the way she is, when all survivors are asking for is for a way to counter her, not nerf her into the ground.

If you are reading this and feel triggered, then you are indeed a Spirit main.

Im a spirit main (well, I actually became a spirit main after they butchered nurse into the trashcan) and I agree with you, the concept of spirit is stupid. I just play her because it's piss easy to stomp survivors, it's very relaxing compared to other killers (even old Nurse was more stressful than spirit.. And Nurse was much stronger than spirit).

They’re entirely different games, providing entirely different experiences.

It cant be a horror game for survivors without elements of uncertainty and unpredictability.

Dont like those concepts? Don’t play horror games.

DbD is not a horror game after 10 hours game experience, sorry to blub your bubble.

  • @darktrix said:

I'm seeing some comments to the effect of 'its supposed to be a horror game' 'survivors should have feelings of despair' - basically just sounds like some people saying it should suck to play survivor and that survivors are just there for a killer to kill.

You will hear stuff like that from killers when survivors are disadvantaged ('adapt' and 'get good' are also things they will toss in). When killers feel disadvantaged those same people will cry about fair balance between sides and nerfing whatever perks, items, mechanics that survivors have to defend themselves.

In the end some killers just don't want to risk losing their easier games versus solos and the devs apparently agree, because there have not been any significant QoL advancements for solos for years. The feeling is trying to balance between SWF and killers, and letting solos make their own way - ironic as that sounds.

Yes I noticed the same, those hardcore killer mains who think balancing swf and solo for a smaller gap is a bad idea just want to keep the ez wins against solos and they completely ignore the fact that reducing the gap would allow much stronger buffs for killers.

  • Is this really unpopular? I thought this is just logic lol, unless mori is in the place.

U didn’t actually read my post did you? You just read the title and reacted. This is the reason our community is so toxic. They don’t stop to think, they see something they disagree with and immediately get angry

I edited my post, read it.

  • 2 reasons:

    1. In 2016 the game released with Survivors having MANY tools very strong tools to demolish killers. So the bar was already set very high, while the onky op stuff killers had was instant moris

    2. Swf makes balancing impossible. Every nerf hurts as solo players, OPTIMAL swf groups don't care since voice communication is just the best tool you can have. So every single nerf is very noticeable in solo Q. Every solo player gets pissed.

Edit: I saw the "satire" but I still wanted to make this point clear since many survivor mains actually think this way.

They also said they were looking into adding stuff like Rank Rewards but it has been 3+ years now.. I wouldn't hold my breath at this point. There's a lot of noise but little to not action.

Which is really sad. Dbd has so much potential, imagine another leadership would be working for DbD, a leadership which is a hardcore gamer by themselves and cares about the community.. Just imagine where dbd could be.. It's sad, it really is.

I have played 45 survivors matches in the last 2 days at rank 1-5 in EU, and I have seen only one Nurse. Instead I got 19 Spirits, most of which didn't have tier 3 perks, but were actually solid at mindgaming.

My guess is that Nurse-mains switched on to Spirit now.

You guessed right, many did (including myself). I wasn't playing spirit at all before, now I P3ed her during the double bp event and I'm just playing her. Not touching Nurse anymore.

  • @anarchy753 said:

Nothing else in the game is as blatantly strong as Nurse and Spirit. Nurse mains still had the option to abandon ship in protest over to the next most broken thing. I reckon once she gets nerfed we'll see a healthier spread overall, including both of them.

What are you on about? Spirit is stronger now, no doubt!

And once spirit get nerfed the survivor matchmaking will get longer cuz many will switch role.

  • Since the nerf I versed like 2-3 nurses. One of them was legacy p3. In all matches I was able to outrun the killer for ages, something which isn't even possible against wraith on bloodlodge lol. We got always 3 survivors out, it's piss easy now.

Nurse is dead, I don't play her anymore and it's no suprise noone else does. Her basekit change is overkill.

Try getting pip consistently with Legion, Doctor, Wraith, Clown etc at Rank 1,

    Pipping is absolutly meaningless.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

I don't want to engage in this conversation too much, but I do want to point out one thing: Billy has a very high skill ceiling as well because his power has quite a bit of depth.

When you steer the chainsaw with Q and E like I do, there's a lot of practice and improvement involved.

Agree, I hate when people say Billy is pisseasy. These are probably the people who only use m2 to travel the map and M1 for survivors.

If you want to know how spaghetti the code, just remember that this game somehow grew to astonishing 28GB memory.

How is this game so big with such ugly graphics, and small maps? It makes no sense.

This!! Even extremely graphics heavy open world games need less space, this is just not acceptable anymore

I actually play DBD on the ultra graphic settings. Does low setting actually improve visuals when looking for survivors?

Yes, there are only disadvantages to play on Ultra. Low is meta.

  • @Liruliniel said:

Depipping is hard welcome to the red rank life. Even in red rank there's tiers of levels that the rank system can't really pinpoint.

Exactly, on red ranks you get everything. Potatoes you can't even look behind them while getting chased and just drop pallets left and right... And the sweaty tryhards who are super optimal with resources. I feel like on rank 1 there needs to be a ranking inside of it with 10 more ranks if you get what I mean.

  • Because bhvr had the brilliant idea to make the pipping system just a participation trophy so people stay motivated after losing.

  • @Usui said:

At first I thought this post was going to have more then just asking for HUD changes, like actual solo player experiences. Whether you get grouped with SWF or just 3 other solo's, I find especially in red ranks players are much more careless then around purple or green ranks. What I mean by that is they will usually prioritize doing a totem, opening a chest, before pulling you off the hook. And i'm talking like against non-camping killers, they legit just play like this because. It's frustrating.

Do you mean potatoes as team mates? If yes: that another issue we solo players have. The ranking system allows potatoes to rank up to easy which makes it very frustating to play with randoms against very skilled killers.

  • Also an interesting comment from a reddit user:

"Apex is setting the bar too damn high for other games (regarding non-verbal comms). After playing Apex I think every game needs the different pings we have here (enemy, loot, looking at, etc)."

And he is truly right. Playing apex solo Q I don't feel in a huge disadvantage against pre mates on voice chat, it feels very fair balanced. And then coming back to DbD it's like playing a completely different game when you switch between SWF and solo Q. This is THE main reason why DbD will never be balanced enough so everyone can enjoy playing no matter what role he takes.

Bhvr: the Spirit is overperforming Considerably, she will be nerfed Tremendously. /s

Transparency goes a long way. A lot of these discussions feel like echo chambers. Everybody already has their minds made up about how they feel about the spirit one way or another. I pray the devs keep a level head, and make necceasry changes without gutting her power.

Don't worry, it's just going to be "slightly" like on Nurse lol

  • Btw, you said "very fun movements" but you don't know how much fun this is on survivor side since you said yourself that you never really played survivor.

From survivors perspective (with some competition in your blood aka someone who enjoys winning) it's not a fun moment. Especially when you go against the 10th spirit in a row with some prayer beads imbetween. On red ranks. Where 90% of the spirits have ears and decent headphones.

  • I think you misunderstood the word "overperforming" here. Let me explain my view on spirit (I recently started to main her): she is piss easy to master. And it's piss easy to stomp survivors with her. Compared to nurse (I WAS a nurse main till the nerf..) it's actually very chill, I drop survivors left and right and don't have to sweat at all. Low effort but HUGE reward. On Nurse, I had to sweat my ass off, constantly do right reads, survivors could react and bluff, LoS fakes, enough time for dead hard, difficult buildings, deal with buggy blinks etc...

While on Nurse you have to put several hundreds of hours into her to be extremely deadly against swf (and even then some swf groups can stomp you no matter what) as spirit you just need like 10ish hours to stomp every team. That's why she's overperforming, everyone can destroy teams without having much skill. The only thing you need is average - decent headphones.

  • you are complaining about 120 fps? Lmao a lot of people are getting fps drops and freezes with this latest updates, be happy that you can play 120 fps without issues :D

If you want to unlook your fps you need to edit the file "GameUserSettings.ini"

So OP Survivor stuff needs nerfed, but OP Killer stuff don't?

At the very least, anyone with no bias should recognize that Prayer Beads is literally more broken than both old BNPS and old Insta Heals.Having access to literally stealth instant downs is just complete and utter bull.

    Don't even try lol

  • Yes I confirm this happening on pc for me, the hotfix made it worse.

  • Same xD lmao I have even more freezes when something happens (killer injures someone, I use DH etc) and everything feels more sluggish. GG I guess "hotfix" made things even worse. How can this even get released unnoticed...

I Abhor the springwood maps; always giving me such trouble as killer, and such easy escapes as survivor

Besides the 4-5 safe pallets you don't have to break any. You can mindgame every other pallet, or just simply bloodlust

The dates for Tome 3 and 4 have a even longer period.

If there would be a new tome every week, things would become repetitive very soon and casual players might struggle to complete a tome.

This doesn't make sense. Opening a tome doesn't close the previous one, so it doesn't matter for casuals cuz they can work on them on their own speed.

  • @Infinity_Bored said:

According to the news page ingame on the 13th of november. On this day the halloween event ends too.

This date still might be subject to change.

So late? They should already have opened it! One tome per week would be optimal and not every 2 weeks.

  • If you are that good that you constantly drop survivors left and right and get DSed even tho you don't actively tunnel, then it doesn't matter cuz you are already dominating the living shitt out of the survivors.

  • @Peanits said:

You absolutely can zone someone. Having to run past you means that they get less distance. A straight line to the next pallet is shorter than a line going around the loop they're at to get to the next pallet.

I've whipped up a couple crude examples to illustrate it. Say the killer is the blue dot, the green line is a pallet, and the red line is the path the survivor needs to take to get to the next pallet as soon as possible. To the left is either the edge of the map or a zone with no more pallets.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/581/FQ90D3NUTNM4.png

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/176/DY6G1HH6ZCSP.png

Which would you rather take? The top one would mean they're half way to the next pallet by the time you finish breaking it, the bottom one means that by the time you finish break it, they're just past the end of the wall.

RE: Huntress: It's definitely not the same. You can see her get a hatchet ready and try to break LoS. You can also react once she throws the hatchet if you're good enough. You even get an audio cue to tell when she's charging a hatchet even if you can't see her.

@Peanits you are killing it :D nice pictures, well explained!

I'm sure some people don't notice, the once with good PCs. A modern PC I think can handle it without too much fuss.

But the game has consistently gotten worse over the past year with the two engine updates. Ever since the Legion patch things have actually gotten slower rather than faster, which is a shame.

I've had to lower my resolution down and down with each patch. But its' gone as low as it'll go on my rig. Pretty soon I'll need to buy a new PC just to play this game. Which is pretty ridiculous considering I can run a much more graphically impressive game like Overwatch at 120fps without problems.

I know some streamers with very strong hardware experiencing the same freezing and lagging issues since the update.

  • Why? Devs just have to rework the maps like they did with springwood and after that bloodlust can finally get trashed away.

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

Nope - You want power at the end of the game, run NOED or Blood Warden.

If they're at the exit, you've lost at that point. Just chase them out and deal with it. If their antics bother you, look down while doing it.

It's literally seconds from your entire game ffs.

    Truth^

Take it today for free, maybe tomorrow the truth will cost something lads.

  • For me nurse is a dead case now. Sure, you can stomp some average survivor. But good luck on Hawkins, Lerry's, Yamaoka, rottenfield (or any other farm map) against some very optimal swf players with several thousands of hours who already have plenty experience to counter the old Nurse and just have it much easier now to go against the new nurse.

Yeah, as I said: after rank reset you can consider playing her to win, however even then she is just extremely unfun now. I hate the powerbar.

  • @DWolfAlpha said:

I actually prefer the Nurse now. It's mainly because of her new add-ons, but I couldn't play her before. Sure, I lose the occasional blink because I didn't wait long enough, but that happens so seldom, I don't see it as an issue.

This doesn't make sense. If you couldn't play her before (cuz difficult) you should have even more trouble now with her since addons and basekit is nerfed.

  • @TunnelVision said:

That is the exact reason it is locked out. They want to keep player numbers up and regular. I can't see this changing in all honesty.

But people won't quit their jobs and duties just to play DbD, so they don't really accomplish much besides pissing people off.

  • @MyName123 said:

@justarandy i made a ticket showing my exclusives and the pictures is on my steam profile, the devs need to give me back the exclusives, because the screnshoots is only pictures when u take on the game

If I remember correctly my friend had stream proof but still did not get his exclusives back.

  • No not you, more and more people are making posts about these cosmetics being lost. I lost mine aswell. It always baffles me how exclusive cosmetics can be lost. Happened back then to legacy cosmetics (apparently noone got them back as far as I know) and now it happens to the bbq and hound cosmetics.

  • I don't play on PS4 but absolutly stand behind you, BHVR has to optimise!! This has to be highest priority, and not skins and DLCs. Yeah, even if that means that bhvr loses money, it's better for them in the long run since then people will enjoy dbd more and eventually will be more willingly to spend money into dbd.

I just finished a match where I was near the hatch, waiting for the last player to finally exit so that the hatch would open during the EGC and I could escape. I eventually died to NOED. They literally waited until the last second to leave because the Entity was going to destroy them if they didn't. Glad I got to die all the way across the map, especially considering that I finished three of the gens for that group.

Something similiar happened to me: 1 on hook against Huntress with noed. I was the only one left. I managed to unhook her, she goes down instantly. She crawls to the exit and I thought "Yeah perfect, escape and I take the hatch while I distract her. Huntress chases me for 3+ minutes and this stupid ######### Claudette stays at the exit get (still downed btw) while I pull off some heavy mindgames on a mediocre safe pallet. Against Huntress with noed and bloodlust 3. This ######### moron escaped like 10 seconds before the EGC timer ran out and eventually the Huntress caught me. Like the IQ was legit below 0 of that" teammate". I legit died because of that Claudette, NOT because of the killer.

  • @OswinOsgood said:

As killer - gain bloodlust - game stutters miss my hit.

Clicks bloodweb - freezes for a few seconds.

What do you play on? im on ps4 mainly

It's happening on pc for me. Like, I legit die because of that and legit can't down survivors JUST because if that.

  • Oh yeah this feature is really needed. Some potatoes are really destroying my games. They are more dangerous than the actual killer most of the time.

  • @Peanits said:

We're getting another dev update ready. Given everything that happened recently, there's been more than a few wrenches thrown in the plans. The update being postponed delayed all cosmetic releases, for example. I'll make sure to get the roadmap updated as soon as possible.

What cosmetics? The new halloween cosmetics? I'm confused, cuz I see people using them already so what exactly is delayed?

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

I mean i wouldn't make myers too strong if he could get a minimal amount of stalk per second from an already stalked survivor, but you can just not eat all the stalk from one survivor, works too.

Sometimes you have just one immersive survivor who is hiding all time + as killer you already have to micromanage so many things, micro managing stalk juice of 4 survivor on top of all the other stuff seems a bit overkill imo, especially since myers is basically a M1 killer without much anti loop potential

  • I mean it worked. Tea bagging is some kind if tactic to tilt you (tilt = more mistakes) and/or to get your full attention. And you chased her for 4 gens in total.

I do that by myself. Call me toxic or whatever, but it's the only chance for my team to survive. I usually get full potatoes which get downed within 30 seconds of the game by a wraith, so I HAVE to get chased for several minutes.

  • If you think punishing DCs will make your experience better I will have to snap you out of this dream. Survivors will suicide instead when the punishment starts hitting, which will make the games pretty much equally worse. So yeah, don't think it's gonna change much.
