Indeed, it's almost as if the game expected you to use juking and losing line-of-sight to win chases.
With all the neon skins released for survivors, lol.
Line of sight jukes only work against Nurse and Huntress. Another killer will keep pressing W cuz you know scratch marks exists. The only way to get more distance with line of sight jukes is when the killer is mindgaming himself on the 1st "loop" at the 1st tile. Smart killers will do this mistake once, very smart and optimal killer won't mindgame at all till they are sure you stay at that looptile

Devs if you read this, please don't listen to these survivor mains. They want these nerfs to bully and loop her till daylight. It's the only viable killer on PS4 at R1, so don't touch her please
And you are totally not biased, Mr "RIN is my waifu" with a spirit picture? Maybe you are just so much in love with the killer that you can't see the issues anymore. Something like true love, when you wear pink-red glasses and only see the good things.
And btw, PC exists aswell. Dont think ps4 is the only Plattform which matters in the dbd environment. You should "fight" more for keyboard and mouse support instead trying to defend one single killer. Cuz then you can play more different killers which is a win-win for everyone.

Reads are based off past actions, not mechanical data. It's only a guess the first time she does it.
Human's aren't capable of preforming actions randomly, meaning that there will always be a pattern to her phasing behavior. That pattern can be determined over the course of the game allowing you to dodge her more effectively the longer the game goes on.
Also it's just as much a guessing game for her as it is for you. Because the information you both have doesn't matter until it's enough for a guarantee at something, at which point it's no longer a guessing game for anyone.
For example if there is a pallet between you and the Spirit, when you see her stop moving you know she's making a play (but you don't know what the play is).
The Spirit needs to read you in order to figure out if you are going to vault the pallet or not. If she thinks you will vault she should stay still, if she thinks you will run then she needs to start phasing.
As the Survivor if you think she will phase to the other side then you should vault (after waiting a second to get to the other side) and then run, and if you think she is standing still you should just run immediately.
Iron will has no impact on either of these options.
There are more complex things you can do as the Survivor to be more proactive in addition to those 2 options if you've gotten a REALLY good read on them. For example if the loop is small enough the Spirit can normally stand still and react to the basic options I just listed, so if you think she's doing that then you can start to run away thus making her start to phase, then double back and vault, just before she would reach the pallet, and then assuming she is still phasing at this point you vault a second time at which point her power should be almost drained and you can safely run to the next loop.
If you have enough distance you can slow vault a window and then fast vault back to make them think you are on the other side of the window while you walk off, ect ect ect.
Reads are not only based on past actions but majority on little details your opponent does to follow up a specific pattern. For example making a huge non optimal turn means he's probably going to respect the pallet. Or shack pallet, seeing the redglow just for a second means either he's moonwalking or going the other way. You can calculate the probability of one by knowing the killers past pattern but also watching the details of optimal movement.
Spirit on the side does NOT give informations unless she's stupid enough to move grass. So when she stands still at a window there could be happening anything and you wouldn't know at all what exactly because past patterns won't matter. Why not? Because a smart killer will not do the same over and over again, he will mix it up.
So for example at a window, the spirit could:
1. Vault, but waiting for that and react afterwards is not a option, to short window and no animation
2. Phase the other way around, but u can't wait or double back because u don't know and in case she vaults u run into her arms
3. Actually stand still and watching you, so she can react based on your decision and it's going to be gg against any decent spirit no matter what.
From survivors perspective it's pure luck and coin flipping. And even when you guesses "right" it's probably not going to matter because the spirit has enough tools to react based on your decision and correct her mistake midgame.

Spirit is really hard to read a lot of the time. And rather than learn how to deal with her, people DC and ask for nerfs.
While there are things that are overpowering with her (prayer beads), she's not as bad as everyone says.
Read? There is nothing to read from a body standing still. The correct term is guessing.
I personally don't dc, but I can absolutly understand why others do that and I'm not mad at all when my team mates do that after seeing it's a p3 spirit main. Everyone is suiciding on 1st hook anyway
-
1 blink by default is insanely hard. Hitting survivors with 1 single blink is something which happens around 20% of the time.
Imo 2 is the sweet spot. Enough to correct but also enough room to juke.

I know changing the color of blood can ruin the games balance if non-colorblind people use the colorblind filter but a good first step would be to give scratch marks a different color than red.
I don't even think that "blue blood" will give such a huge advantage than red blood. Or green scratch marks.
Scratchmarks are broken anyway. At best, green scratch marks would fix ormond. I really don't see how a different colour would break the balance. It's not significant.

However annoying or "cheap" it is, camping is a valid strategy.
I see camping as a valid strategy when all gens are done, or the last one with 99% progress is next to the hook and similar situations.
However, a Bubba who insidious camps from the start of the match is unhealthy and there has to be a counter to that instead of just holding M1 at gens cuz it's boring for everyone.

@Th3Entity said:
People who are not colourblind could have a competitive advantage tho
No. CoD has colourblind option aswell and it is much more competetive than dbd will ever be.

This exactly. I feel like OP is upset that they can’t bully certain killers with BT.
Uhm.. What? Error404 logic not found.
-
It's not about counterplay or buff. It's about punishing toxic behaviour. Unless your opinion is that an insidious Bubba is healthy gameplay.
-
Why should we report them? It's not bannable and completely up to bhvr to fix that
-
I won't tunnel when I have the choice. I only camp toxic survivors, normal survivors will have a great time against me. And well, that's about it.

I have to say, not the most constructive way to ask someone for a new feature.
Ofc sarcastic.
I mean, when the community was giving 3 years constructive feedback, asking and beggining for stuff like that.. Then there is only memes left.

@justarandy What a peculiar argument. We play the same game, no? So the bugs you suffer from, I suffer from too. I just haven’t suffered as long.
I never said “everything’s good”. I said there’s been improvements in areas outside of OPs narrative. Devs are evidently working hard, just not in areas you or OP want them to.
I’m going to tap out of this conversation now, as I feel that you're not here to discuss the subject, but rather to discuss my merits in the game.
Lmao bye then

What point are you trying to make here? Am I too inexperienced to comment?
Again, I’ve seen huge improvements in my short timespan in the game. My 8 months experience does not align with OPs.
Also, the problems you mention has little to do with balancing and game health. How does fps-drops when playing Freddy coincide with a “veteran” perspective?
No, I'm just saying that you have no clue what the community is suffering with since release. Just because u noticed some improvements in the last 8 months does not mean everything is good. Because the devs are missing improvements of 3 years.

I used to be able to run this game on Ultra at 60fps. Then the engine update came and Medium was the best I could do to keep 60fps. Then several other "optimisation" patches came and Low is the best now.
I suggest keeping this in mind as well. I would love to run it at Ultra again.
I can confirm.
I used to play DbD in 2016 with my laptop at 100% resolution fullscreen (17" big screen with 1080p) and medium and 60+fps.
And now after several engine updates and "optimisations" I'm hardly hitting constant 40 fps. The big joke: I'm playing on low and had to switch to windowed mode and have to make the actual window very small via steam launch settings. The size of the game window is now just 1100x600.

Should be implemented into flip-flop

@Pandemic I’m really on fire today so I’ll reply to this post too (i’m actually procrastinating send help).
I’ve been playing the game for 8 months and there has been som huge improvements in that short timespan. The devs are making good progress on the health of the game. Also, I think the game is quite balanced if I’m hinest.
I think this game can be so incredibly infuriating, especially when a bundle of problems stacks in one game. Or two. It kind of makes us blind to all the good parts.
You are here just 8 months. You have no clue what the veteran players are dealing with for 3 years.
Sound still bugged btw.
Still no colour blind option btw.
Still no real graphic settings btw.
Fps are still tanking against doctor and Freddy dreamworld btw.
Just to name a few absolute basic things.. It's really embarrassing.
-
I love dbd because Dwight exists. He is the best memer ever.
Also, all the mindgames you can do is what kept me playing with the unique design of the game. I'm still playing after 3k hours.

It makes an 8 meter sound.
Down from 16 meters.
Come on buddy, we all know how buggy the sound in dbd is.

There is a bug when you can't get healed/picked up and you will bleedout no matter what. Happened to me twice, very frustating.

That's weird lol

Huntress? Uhm... What about spirit? Don't you hate to go against spirit more?

Which would be a form of pay to win. Again it’s not as bad as having things locked behind paywalls but that’s not saying much. Here’s a definition I found on google that explains it pretty well:
“Pay to Win means just that - every time you pay you get closer to winning, because items or content purchased give you a very perceptible power increase. You can have a game that has pay walls but no pay to win. You can have a game that has pay to win but no pay walls.”
We are talking about 90k bp once a week buddy. I can get that in a single match as killer.

If you were able to directly buy bloodpoints from the store with real money that would definitely be a form of pay-to-win. You would be paying to level up your characters faster, getting you better perks, items and addons, which would make your games easier. Something doesn’t need to be locked behind a paywall for it to be pay-to-win, although that version is much more scummy.
No, it wouldn't. It would be pay2speedupleveling at best.

Spirit isn't op, she's just very unfun to go against. Prayer beads is busted tho.

Accepting that people say spirit is a mindgame.

Paying for rituals and weekly's, I don't really know if it's the greatest idea. It makes it seem like P2W or P2W for people who pay for it. It should be free, only the initial "battle pass" should cost 10$ dollars and the rest is re-rolled every day, except for the weekly.
It looks cool, but it's ridiculous what they want. Maybe to re-roll early, then sure, but... Or am I overly wrong? Is the extra auric cells just to re-roll sooner than the timer runs out? I'm confused!
Bloodpoints are not p2w, u can earn them easy with playing. Something becomes p2w when you can only get a weapon/perk with money and that particular thing is very strong. Bbq for example.

"rescue 25 survivors from the hook" besides the other 2 tasks and only 90k bps? Looks like a downgrade to me.

@GrootDude I wouldn't advocate removing wiggle, but changing it into simply holding a key or controller button would be an improvement and much more tolerable.
Obviously, wiggling needs to stay to avoid constant basements. But there's no reason to make it a button tapping instead of a simple, and less aggravating, hold-a-key. They could even make it holding a key and having to do skill checks, thereby keeping people engaged.
I was only talking about smashing buttons. Ofc holding a button or similar would replace it to avoid basement everytime.

I mean they have made a lot of healthy changes to the game in the past, they can't do everything at once.
On the other hand, I agree with pretty much everything here. Struggling in particular needs to go. A core mechanic that is absolutely awful. I can only hope it happens as fast as possible.
"Everything at once"
Mate, some stuff is there since release and they refuse to even talk about that.

The DLC is pretty cheap for what it is 6$-11$, your getting a survivor, a killer, and 6 perks, all DLC can also be purchased within the in-game store using iridescent shards.
Paying money for a dlc just because of a perk and not the actual character is simply stupid and p2w
-
@joker7997 said:
I don't even need to watch this video to know how stupid this contention is. So many crybabies that don't wanna part with their $5 bill. Well guess what if you cant pay $5 every now and again you can't afford a game that keeps updating it's content. Get a job, or if you cant or don't want to, don't try to make it the problem of employed people like BHVR. they're busy working.
You are part of the reason why the gaming industry is so F'ed up nowadays.

Admittedly they do eventually end up circulating in the shrine of secrets?
"eventually"
You are aware that some perks like BBQ&C nearly never appear in the shrine? BBQ&C appears 3 times in total since release. And between the first and second time was a time span of over 1 year. So please, stop joking. The shrine is not good. It needs a rework.

Prayer beads are every bit as balanced as iridescent hatchet heads or coxcomb clapper. The addon IS strong and does something unique, that’s why it should be red. But it’s isnt unbalanced.
That's your opinion. My opinion is it's unbalanced.
-
@immortalls96 said:
The rather character killing suggestions I've seen have been..horrible..though I would agree prayer beads could stand to trade places with fathers glasses
Changing rarity won't make an unbalance addon suddenly balanced.

@Chickenchaser said:
So you're a basic toxic survivor then. Ok. The devs should put a 5 second cool down on the crouch button so survivors can't teabag. Same thing with flashlights.
Don't be so butthurt about a random guy on the other side of the world pressing the ctrl button multiple times, geeg..
-
@immortalls96 said:
While it is satisfying it's no excuse to be toxic especially if the killer didn't simply tunnel you to death which it sounds like he didnt
Teabagging is not toxic.

Mathieu said, long ago, it was done to make people stay in the game.
If you were just hanging there without having to do so, you'd just browse your phone until you'd get unhooked or die.

What's wrong about browsing your phone? The smashing is actually the reason why I don't stay in the game. Cuz I won't do it.
