I want to make this clear that I'm not posting this out of frustration, anger or any sort of negative emotions. I sometimes use OoO myself for the memes. What I will say however is that Object of Obsession shouldn't exist because it's a perk that in my opinion, is the most powerful perk in the game especially in a Survive With Friends group. And since I know some people on this forum likes to use this as an argument: "It's annoying and not fun to go up against."

OoO basically disallows the killer from doing any mindgames of any kind during a loop, or robs them from being able to do any setup if they're playing a killer like Trapper or Hag, or gives your teammates information on where the Killer is at every moment especially if you are in an SWF group. Whenever I play as killer and I see an OoO group, I roll my eyes, thank God I am going to get a depip (Because I hate Red Ranks and this is one of the reasons why), and resolved myself to just be the biggest toxic piece of ######### to the person who uses it.

No killer, not even amazing ones, likes to feel powerless in a situation. Especially since they're the supposed "Power Role". And this perk can make some killers powerless.

This perk is one of the reasons why I sometimes doubt BHVR's ability to balance this game properly, as it's often used to cheese games to the point where they're not even challenging anymore. Just plain annoying.

I know that's how some people felt with Spirit, well this is how I personally feel with Object of Obsession.

I think Decisive Strike, Dead Hard, Adrenaline, Borrowed Time or whatever meta perks Survivors run nowadays have counters. Some are more obvious than others. DS you wait for 60 seconds, DH you wait for them to use it them whack them over the head with it, Adrenaline you gotta pressure gens, and BT you gotta hide your Terror Radius.

What's the counter to Object other than to tunnel the obsession? And even so, why is there a perk that encourages this sort of behaviour? It's one of the reasons I disliked old Dying Light. No one wants to just chase one person or be the only one chased (unless you're using OoO to give your teammates information, which in my opinion is a perk that should never exist. Information is valuable and knowing where the killer is at at all times makes this perk incredibly broken)

I hope to God I'm not the only one who feels this way, because Object is the one perk (probably the only perk) I wish that is just completely reworked or removed from the game.

Even as a survivor if I notice someone else is in a 2 man or a 3 man using Object of Obsession, I will purposefully kill myself because I know how it feels as a killer. It's frustrating and you feel completely helpless in that situation. It's sometimes not even your skill that is at fault. But you begin to doubt yourself regardless.

Oh boy, I think that's my rant done. I did say I wasn't angry or frustrated, but I guess the more I talked about it the more I realize how utterly bullshit this perk can be.

Please keep discussion civil, as I know some people are pretty heated already because of the whole Spirit issue.

Doesn’t allow the killer to mind game during looping? I thought it only works when you are out of the killers terror radius? Which means you shouldn’t be able to see the aura while in chase. The only exception to this which I’m assuming is a glitch is with Freddy who you can see all the time. Although I think he needs to have the add on paintbrush equipped.

even if you can see where the killers are placing traps, if they are on the other side of the map you have to remember the exact place where they put it. Who has time to go looking and destroy every trap when you see one placed. I’d rather be doing gens. And trying to describe to other survivors where that location is.... If you try to remember where the traps are to avoid them, well that could be a lot of traps in different locations, I feel like you’d be worse off because you’ll be second guessing or hesitating before running through things. Killers tend to place them in similar spots every time so you get an idea where they are anyway.

in regards to SWF. Yes you can communicate as to where the killer is but reality is, at least one of you know where the killer is without OoO anyway which can still be communicated. Is dark sense too OP also? Or kindred? Or alert? Or any of those other perks?

  • @scarslookgood said:

Tunneling and camping are rampant on PS4, which is where OP plays too, I think.

Even before the Ruin nerf, I dreaded getting too high in rank because there's so much camping & tunneling with red ranked killers there.

I always thought camping and tunnelling were the worst in green and yellow ranks. I’ve never really had an issue with it in red/purple ranks until just before ruin got nerfed. There might be the odd game but it didn’t happen often. It’s the one of the reasons I would grind to get to red ranks. Now I can’t even find a red rank killer. I’m just getting matched with green/yellow/grey rank killers.

I did not say that no one considered the affect that ruin had on all skill levels. I think the people screaming about how the Ruin change destroyed the game for them and are threatening to quit are not considering all skill levels and platforms. One perk shouldn't all but guarantee a 4k, and that's what Ruin did on console unless it was cleansed quickly. I never complained about Ruin - I decided to run Small Game and prioritize totems because it was nearly impossible to win a game without cleansing. I can't tell you how many games I single handedly have done all five totems and have taken NOED out of play too. But yeah, without a doubt, I think Ruin was too strong on console.

I am not kidding. In more than 1,000 hours in this game, there have only ever been 2-3 games where Ruin wasn't cleansed and all survivors made it out. You don't think that's insanely strong? Do you play on PC? Do you have any idea how difficult it is for the average player to hit great skill checks on console?

i still don't agree that it is too strong on console. it's annoying and it takes a bit of getting use to but its definitely not too strong.

like i said, you have obviously had different experiences than me. and anyway, how often does a full team escape even without ruin? i've seen plenty of games where the whole team doesn't make it out.

no i don't play on pc, i play on console. it was hard for everyone to start with and no i'm not awesome at it but i still think you get better over time. i max out my hex skill checks sometimes and sometimes it's a complete fail but i still wouldn't say that ruin was too strong.

I really hope the new rank system is going to be better than the current one. I just finished a match:

    • Completed 1 gen solo
    • Helped with 2 other gens
    • 1 hook rescue
    • 2 solo heals of other survivors
    • Helped with another heal
    • Had approx. 16k points

End of match my rank progression is -1

How is all that -1 in rank progression? At the very least that should have been no progression either direction. I've had matches where I did less and ended up with +1

Sometimes it feels like pipping up or down is decided by a random generator at the end of a match. There is no rhyme or reason that I can make out whatsoever

the pipping system seems broken sometimes. i've had 29,000 points and still not pipped. i would maybe safety pip but not gain a pip.

did you get chased also? you are probably missing bold points. have a look at your emblems and see which ones you scored low in. also doing totems will help towards your final points/emblem scores. escaping the killer will help too.

you don't get much for gens.

also what rank are you? because the higher the rank the more you need to do.

  • @Carpemortum said:

    Simple reason: nobody expects it.

i always expect it. it's used in most games i've been in recently hence why i cleanse totems as i come across them.

  • thanks for explaining. i clearly don't play killer enough but thats on me. i was just curious and now it makes more sense.

  • @Frankie said:

There's challenges for both NOED as well as EGC. NOED can act as extra insurance for this (because survivors are too lazy to cleanse totems) on any killer because screw those challenges.

i get what you are saying, but noed is an insta down so even if survivors cleansed all totems then they still have their insta down. to put a perk on that gives you an inst down when you can already insta down...thats what i just don't get.

having a noed challenge explains a little bit i guess.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/133609/ruin-nerf-was-like-ripping-off-a-bandaid-and-shoving-dirt-into-a-wound-and-has-had-lasting-effects

I've always thought Pop and Corrupt were better anyway. I run Small Game and would usually cleanse the totem at most like 60 seconds into the game, if not immediately. I think the killers I'm going against now are better, to be honest. Ruin was way too strong on console. I realize it might have just slowed the game down on PC, but it was an almost guaranteed 4k on console if not cleansed. I have more than 1000 hours in this game and truly, I've had 2-3 games ever where everyone made it out while Ruin was still up. Does that seem right to you? I get why killers are upset, but I don't think people considered the affect Ruin had on all skill levels and all platforms.

i think the ruin nerf was a bad idea. i don't think it was too strong at all, they broke something that wasn't broken. i guess i just had a different experiences than you. most of the time, the games i was in, the survivors would just do gens with the ruin and power through them. i found that it was quicker to do a gen than waste time looking for it and usually someone else would find it fairly quickly.

you say that no one considered the affect ruin had on all skill levels, but don't forget, at some point EVERYONE was new to ruin and no one was good at it when they first started the game. survivors started getting better at it the more they played. its like anything, the more you practice the better you get so why have they decided to nerf it now?

in my opinion, ruin wasn't that common in the lower ranks anyway. i just feel like the devs have used that as an excuse. next thing you know, they will remove all gen skill checks because rank 20's can't hit them.

my point is everyone has been in the same situation before so why does it all of a sudden matter now? or is it because the matchmaking system is changing and the lower ranks have no chance against the higher ranks who actually use the ruin. fyi, the lower ranks don't tend to have a chance against the higher ranks anyway. even with the broken matchmaking now the lower rank killers i've been matched with have all given up or can't even hook someone. its not their fault and it feels bad. the nerf to ruin makes it worse for them. but thats just my opinion, i know a lot of people won't agree with me.

Yes it was. You cant see pig, ghost face, freddy i think or wraith in stealth mode anymore.

Actually if Freddy is using the paintbrush add on then you can see him the whole time even when you’re looping him. Unless they have fixed that.

It works on multiple if others have it they’re not the obsession but it still works on it

When multiple people are using it, it doesn’t work very well. When I’ve used it in SWF pretty much only the obsession could see the killer the whole time. I barely saw the killers aura at all it only worked when I was in close proximity to the killer or obsession which isn’t how it’s meant to work. Throughout the whole game I saw the killers aura maybe 2 times

Thanks for the reply. I like playing as killer but i can't anymore. The gens flying and i got the kills by no one escapes death. And after that they message me that i play scammy / toxic using no escapes death, baby killer ez, stop using noed, etc. I'm new to this game, learning. I've noticed that many survivors are toxic to the new killers. They t bagging me, making noises at the exit gates, clicking flashlights, hate messages. I'll stick to survivor and see what happens with the new system you said.

I really feel for you. i'm red rank and been getting matched with rank 18's/20's etc...it's not fair, nor is it enjoyable for the killer.

in regards to getting salty messages, don't take it personally they are probably only doing that because they died to someone thats only just learning the game. being a rank 2 and getting owned by someone who has just started playing is embarrassing. they have obviously been playing for a while and you're still getting use to the mechanics of the game and learning the right play style for yourself and experimenting with different perks to see what works best for you etc...they are rank 2, they should know a lot of killers use noed. (well they are at the momoent) if they don't want it in game then cleanse totems, easy as that. every game i go into now, i assume there is noed and i cleanse any totem i come across.

unfortunately, dbd is a toxic community, there will always be people that t-bag and click flashlights at you no matter what rank you are. i think its bs when people do it unnecessarily, it ruins the fun. i would block anyone that sends salty/nasty messages and keep doing and playing the way you want to and try to have fun with the game. Sorry you've been having bad experiences so far.

    1. Not much of a difference weather your the obsession or not

    2. It's mostly used amoungst swf so they can get information. Killers location, what the killer is doing. This perk especially unfun for Trapper and Hag because they can see where you placed the trap and disarm them

Then target the person that has it which is usually what happens anyway. And even if that person is in SWF it’s no different if that person is in SWF and isn’t running OoO. SWF communicates regardless if someone is running that perk and at least one of the survivors know where the killer is most of the game anyway because the objective is to kill everyone before survivors escape.

I can be in SWF without OoO and still tell people where traps are or where I saw the killer place one or where the killer is. If you have kindred then you know if the killer is camping etc..

my point is, If you’re in SWF, regardless if someone is running OoO or not you are still communicating so there’s OoO really doesn’t make a difference.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/133312/solo-surv-problems

I just had a game where 2 gens were left with one of them almost done. Crotus middle gen was almost done. I got chased. As i got hooked the other two did not bother doing gens at that point and went looking for the hatch. One got hooked right next to the hatch and the other one was found within 5 seconds after that.

For me as a solo i get nothing but games with people that are selfish and give up when two gens are left to do with three peole left. They dont get totems so noed is common. And i get nothing but maps that are not in my favor. As in out in the open maps all day long. Autowreckers with thwo gens that dead smack out in the open and only have two slots for repair. Crotus with at least three gens in the open and nowhere to run to and hide, let alone loop. There are no looping spots on my maps. All in the open. Bloodlodge, same thing. All gens in the open.

If i 99 the outise gens to give us a chance within thirty seconds somebody pops it thereby reducing the distance the killer has to travel.

I suck as a surv when it comes to losing the killer out in the open but at least i "know" how to play the game. Sadly i get nothing but idiots.

Pull surv off of the hook in thekillers face without BT.

I partly blame the rift. It allows them to get ######### done even if they die so who cares. If the condition to surv was on all challenges people would not act so reckless and stupid

i think playing solo is a waste of time these days. i had a game where there were 2 of us left, the killer hooked me (first hook) and downed the other person in front of me. killer let the other person wiggle off then the killer went to the other side of the map. the other survivor went and stood on the hatch which was also in front of me and waited for me to die on hook. oh i had a key that game which i only brought in because i was constantly getting such ######### killers.

i had another game where i got hooked and one of the survivors came over to me but refused to get me off. the only other survivor alive was in chase. so again i died on my first hook.

What better way to make the game even more unfun for killers by adding OoO to the shrine at a time like this in Dead By Daylight. In my honest opinion, OoO needs a rework to something else.

I'm so glad I barely play killer anymore. I really wouldn't want to go into every game in fear of multiple OoOs. Seems like a buff to solo survivor.

Not only that, but the matchmaking is still #########. Do you devs really expect say a green rank killer to still potentially go up against higher-ranked survivors who have more time in the game and will most likely know how to loop well with OoO added on top? I think adding it to the shrine was a very bad move and will only hurt the game once survivors learn how to use it effectively.

I'm curious...how is OoO unfun? only 1 person can be obsession also the killer can see where that survivor is anyway. yes its in the shrine but i don't really see people using it or if they do then i feel like it will be novelty for a few days then no one will care about it. a lot of people probably already have it and don't use it as it is.

if you find OoO unfun then i'm surprised you aren't saying that MYC and IM are unfun for survivors. both of which put you into exposed effect and pretty much alerts the killer where you are. killer can insta down you.

if you are worried about your obsession knowing where you are, then target them first. if they know where you are then you know where they are.

There are many problems with playing solo survivor and there is no way to have fun with it.

The lack of communication is horrible and this is a huge advantage for the killer

NOED is almost always active, because nobody cleans totem

Toxic players who farm you in front of the killer

It takes time to get off the hook and most of the time you go into struggle

Chat at the end of the match is just useless and toxic asf

Slugging and camper always work in a solo survivor match because no one heals or walks around the hook taking a hit

I don't understand the community of that game, it's just impressive what I see sometimes. It is very sad to lose a game because other people do not want to play. in some points of the game there is only one option left: ######### on the hook and go to the next game

However, this is too boring, it makes the game boring.

i always try to do what i can to save a team mate but yes, you're right, there a lot of people that just don't work as a team. people go in as a solo survivor and then plays like they're the only survivor.

i don't think you need the communication. yes it helps but you can still have 4 survivors that work well as a team....if they want to work as a team and aren't just out for themselves that is.

I wasn't trying to say they weren't there before the end of the match. I realize they are there from the start. And yes they are fairly close together the majority of the time. There are those times though when they are REALLY close. Had a game earlier where gates were so close the killer stood between them and you were in his terror radius no matter which gate you went too. Those are the games I will use a key if I have one. As I said in my original comment I like having a challenge to open a gate. That's fun. But when the gates are so close together that challenging changes to impossible I will use a key if I have it.

sorry, like i said, i might have read your commen wrong. i've been in the same situation where the killer just stands between the 2 exits and doesn't have to move until they see you. its bullshit that the doors even spawn that close. i agree that its good to have a bit of challenge otherwise it can be boring.

The DC penalties were needed. I had matches as a killer before egc. The last survivor dc'ed I would message them asking why the DC and the response I got back was basically no other choice. There was no have breaking glitch or bug they just didn't want to get hooked. That is a crap reason to dc.

needed? maybe... but eventually at what cost. people don't even care about the penalties, there are still a lot of dc's going on and as time goes on there will be more people that care less. there's a dc at least every 2nd game I play at the moment. the only thing its ultimately going to cause is longer lobby wait times, people will stop playing the game and move onto something else or people will create smurf accounts and absolutely destroy new kilers/survivors which means no one is having a fun time. it's discouraging for new players. matchmaking is going to cause the same issue. i've been matched with new players and they just give up

Its an easy escape, it shouldn't be like that.

Gates should spawn with some obstacles in the way, but not very far apart. It gives low mobility Killers a chance, while preventing high mobility Killers from abusing it.

i agree that they should spawn with some obstacles in the way or something but at the moment they are always ridiculously close to each other. this is something i think they need to look at.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

It's seriously so stupid! If they luck off the hook or use Deliverance DS should not activate. DS is overpowered in general, but let's save that for another day. Especially in situations where you hook someone right next to an open exit gate, it's just a skilless crawl out the exit and if you pick them up and they get off anyway. That's not anti-tunnel. That's a free escape. Fix your game!

how is it overpowered? you can only use it once and it doesn't stop the killer from tunneling you. you also have to make sure you hit the skill check.

if you get yourself off the hook and the killer comes after you straight away then you should have every right to be able to use it.

would you prefer that the survivor just kill themselves on first hook? do you want an easy kill/down if they get themselves off because that's what it sounds like. survivor gets themselves off hook, killer goes straight back to hook to down them but survivor can't us DS because they got themselves off and bam they are straight back on hook again.

DS is there to counter tunneling, if you don't want people using it then don't tunnel. what difference does it make if you got yourself off hook or not. in theory, you should get off at some point anyway so it shouldn't matter either way.

  • i did all the challenges in the first Tome but this time around, i've only done the survivor challenges. i might do some of the killer ones but any that require being toxic or playing like an arsehole i'll be leaving. to me its not really worth it and it doesnt really make a difference to me or not if i don't get ALL challenges done.

  • @mmain said:

The thing I've noticed is if there are 2 or more survivors still alive when the gates activate it's highly likely there will be a pretty decent amount of distance between them and the hatch will likely be a decent amount of distance from either. However, if there is only 1 survivor alive when the gates activate the chances are extremely high the gates are gonna be within a few meters of each other and the hatch is probably going to be within a few meters of one of the gates.

I've started carrying keys into a lot of my matches for just that reason. I don't even attempt to use them unless I run into that exact situation. If I'm the last survivor, the killer has closed the hatch and the doors have spawned so close together that there is no chance I'm going to be able to get one open you better believe I'm gonna use that key.

If the doors spawn far enough apart that I at least have a chance to get one open I will give it a shot and either escape through the door or get killed. It's only those times when the doors are way too close together that I use a key.

maybe i am reading this wrong? but the exit gates spawn at the start of the match. the amount of survivors left at the end isn't going to effect where they are. from my experience, the gates spawn close in every map with the exception of a couple. eg the game, hawkins, lery's.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

The gates do not always spawn close to each other. And on Léry's, The Game and Hawkins, they even never are patrol-able.

To increase your chances of survival, there are several things you can do: Bring Wake Up to open exit gates faster. Bring Left Behind to find the hatch before the killer does. Bring a key to open the hatch.

those 3 maps are about the only maps where the exit gates spawn far enough apart that it gives survivors a chance to escape through them (if you're the only one left) and you don't get those maps very often.

Decisive Strike is a very powerful perk, and there have been countless discussions on how to make it more fair.

Now that the active ability button can be used at dropped pallets to stand them up, I thought of this idea.

To activate Decisive Strike, hold the activate ability button next to a pallet to destroy it and create a wooden spike.

The rest of the perk stays the same.

Would this be a good change?

I like keys, but I think they should only be able to be used under certain circumstances.

    For example:

If I'm in a match where the killer has closed the hatch and the gates have powered up, but they are so close to each other that there is no chance I am going to be able to get either of them open I will happily use a key if I have one. If I think I have even a small chance of getting one of the doors open I would much rather try to do that for the challenge, but I have no problem whatsoever using a key if the game is going to put the gates so close together that my chances of opening one went from challenging to impossible.

There may be other circumstances too, but that's the one where I occasionally use a key.

so pretty much every game. the exit gates always spawn close together. really the only maps where the gates are far apart are the game, lery's and hawkins

Yep, you pretty much hit the nail on the head.

As both a rank 1 killer/ rank 1 survivor, the game is get worse for both sides, but especially for killer.

I feel like the MM is really bad now as some killers are leaving the game. Just recently, my friend and I made a bet about who could get to rank 1 killer faster. He won, but he said it didn't feel worth it as the moment he got to rank 5 to rank 1, it was essentially non-stop sweat as there was a lot of experienced rank 1s and SWF that just finished gens in like 4-5 minutes. He just quit the game basically at the beginning of February, due to how essentially there is no balance and that killer just is a sweat feast now.

Not to mention also how survivors get a multitude of second chance perks and items that essentially can just waste a lot of killer time and make it a living hell to play as.

The current ptb didn't even solve much, and I heard toolboxes got buffed instead of nerfed. Although this could be false, it still doesn't excuse the sabo changes that will just be abused by SWF in the live servers. Also how the new killer is literally a weaker huntress, which could be the next worst killer in the game.

I could go on and on about the crap killers are facing, but survivors have a few problems as well.

Mainly the problem for survivor is the solo experience. As a solo player there are only 2 types of players you get, which are potatoes or good players. There is no in between, or you get them very rarely. Sometimes as a solo it's very unfun when you play well yourself, but you team doesn't do crap, and you lose the match.

I'm getting burnt out of this game, and playing survivor is just too easy and unfun now, and there isn't much challenge. Currently I'm just using up the last of my Ebony and Ivory moris, and I'm planning to quit this game at either the end of March or the beginning of April

i agree with you. one of the biggest mistakes they made though was nerfing ruin. even as a survivor main i think they should have kept it the way it was. there was nothing wrong with it. apparently they changed it to cater for the lower ranks...hitting those skill checks was too hard for them....you know what? it was hard for everyone to begin with but if everyone else could learn and adapt to ruin then surely the new players can do that too, it just takes practice and time. how are they going to learn and get better at the game if the devs are just going to nerf/rework things to make it easier for them.

in regards to the toolboxes, it pretty much was a buff in my opinion, although, until we try it out for ourselves....maybe i'll be proven wrong. they made a point that they "nerfed" toolboxes by saying they reduced the amount of charges. what they also said but tried not to advertise was that the repair speed has been increased and that the toolbox sabotage speed will be 2.5 sec. it's like they were throwing out the word "nerf" to cover up that they have what seems to be buffed toolboxes.

so not only did they nerf ruin so its now easier to gen rushed, they have also increased the gen repair speed (with toolboxes) and given the survivors a quick and easy way to sabotage hooks in front of the killer. killers will get gen rushed and not be able to hook anyone. yes there is franklins but how hard is it to go back and pick up your item once not in chase anymore and then there are the other 3 survivors..if they have brought in toolboxes.

yes i agree that there are issues on both sides..killers and survivors but these last few changes in my opinion are crazy and do effect killers more. I don't even really play solo anymore, its not worth it, you're better in a SWF.

I'm going to have to agree, this example is not very bad. But keep in mind I've been going against red ranks since rank ~12. And on top of that, since the survivors are really good compared to my skill level, most of them bm and teabag whenever I make a mistake. At this point the game is just extremely punishing and it really makes me mad becuase I love to just sit back and have a good time. Anyways, thanks for all the feedback guys :)

yeah you are right. i actually don't think there are any red/purple rank killers around. well not enough. i can't remember the last time i went up against a red or purple rank. i even get rank 18/20 killers. (i'm in red ranks) it is bs. unfortunately, it won't get fixed. they won't do anything because they are changing the matchmaking system. they are killing off their own game.

in regards to t-bagging etc..i don't think i have come across another game where the players are as toxic as they are in dbd. this seems to be a toxic community.

  • Have only seen Iri heads in a game about 3 times over the 2 years I’ve been playing. yes they are annoying but it’s not even used enough to make a big deal out of or for the devs to look at changing.

I would much rather them change/fix the current issues

  • @Rex_Huin said:

They need to be careful. The game was flagged last week on 'hotukdeals' website as being on sale for PS4.

I read people making comments saying not to buy it as it was impossible to get a game.

Its not impossible and there are plenty of people playing but a 10-15 minute wait certainly gives the impression of a dead online.

Some days the wait times are way longer than that. Had 2 games in 1 1/2 hours the other day.

My usual red ranks SWF and I played about 8 games yesterday, now...

EVERY GAME, I repeat... EVERY GAME we got to play against a yellow rank...

I don't know if it's a matchmaking new problem (we did get to play against a yellow every now and then, but not this constantly) or high ranks killers are leaving.

It's not fun to escape when facing a killer with this CLEAR disadvantage even when we never bring in toolboxes

This started happening when they nerfed ruin then when they brought in the dc penalties it got worse.

I totally agree With you. I can’t remember the last time I got a red or purple rank killer (im A red rank survivor) what’s worse is yesterday and a couple of days ago we had a rank 18 and 20 killer. Felt so bad after the game. If I know it’s a baby killer I will sacrifice myself at the end and send them a message so they aren’t too discouraged.

A lot of people I know, (red ranks) have given up on this game because of how bad this game has become. So I think it’s a mix of people leaving, dc penalties and the matchmaking. The devs are killing their own game and it seems it doesn’t matter how many times people have said it, they don’t care. they are forcing people to NOT play their game with the penalties and/or making it unbearable with the matchmaking and some of the changes they have made...well...

come April and I will be leaving this game and moving to resident evil 3. They are bringing out a 4v1.

  • I admit that most of the time the matchmaking is so broken but I’m sorry, In this example it’s not even that bad. In fact the match making isn’t even broken in this example. The devs said that if you can’t get anyone the same rank as you then you can be matched with survivors that are ranked either 6 ranks higher or lower than you. That came out with the new matchmaking system.

I’d be more annoyed with the games where rank 7 survivors are with a rank 20 killer. That’s what I call unfair

  • @Bullettimegod said:

Or cosmetics? You guys are clearly screwing killers via match making, ruin changes etc. Why should i care about your paychecks if you guys dont care about killers time?

Before any of you survivors come in allow me to retort to everything you are going to say.

"Get good" i would if the game was enjoyable instead i get broken match making with annoying survivors who can find everyloop and pallet drop. As well as first two gens are done so fast it really doesn't make any sense.

"Gen rushing isnt a thing" yea okay. Neither is camping or tunneling. Its "playing my objective"

"Noed promotes bad gameplay" noed is easily counterable as well as can be stopped. Tell me how i can stop ds locker jumping and the 60 sec cd. Or survivors who hide under the hooked survivor where i cant hit them. Or bt. Or sprint burst. Or any of your second chance perks.

"Swf is fine" if youre a survivor yes. If youre a killer. Fk no.

"Just apply pressure" okay! Let me split myself to 4 and be every where at once.

"3 gen them" yea. Because the game doesnt become longer and more boring for both parties!

"2k and 2 escape is fine" i agree..unless you want to pip.

"Ranks are useless." I cant agree more with how broken and mixmatched matchmaking is.

So whats the point in caring about the devs paycheck if the devs arent caring about killer mains?

i know a few people that refuse to pay for the new DLC or anything else. especially with the dc penalties now. they are stopping people from playing a game that they paid for.

and i completely agree with what you said. this game is so broken now with all the changes.

dude I have had many matches where I had everyone 2 hooked, one dead, and the other 3 found hatch in front of me with a key. it really shouldn't be "well the killer is right there but I have a win button and he can't do anything about it soo". 5 seconds isn't long if you get it even with the 5 second penalty good on ya, you were smart and used it away from me. if I'm right there you shouldn't just be allowed to win automatically.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure you can still close hatch before all 3 survivors get hatch. they can't all jump in at the exact same time.

Seriously, we had this issue in the last Tome where it was "sacrifice 2 in one game during EGC" and everyone complained because it's undoable under normal gameplay circumstances unless you farm. It's the same with this. Every single game you have to hard throw to get to all gens done, then go open a door giving all 4 survivors time to leave through the other one and pick up any slugs you have, etc.

Already had to do it seven times so far, and everytime is worse than the last.

I really don't know why they included this challenge again.

if you have it, i would use noed and blood warden, hopefully down a survivor after gens are done, open the exit and then hook the survivor. or do you only need to sacrifice 1 survivor this time round?

or you could farm with the survivors all game then turn on them at the end. i hate the idea of this and wouldn't do it myself but i mean, the devs are pretty much promoting toxic and ######### play and its a crap challenge at least this way, everyone would have got enough points to pip anyway.

i just skip the challenges that you pretty much have to be toxic for.

you could farm with the survivors throughout the game and then turn on them at the end. i mean, i hate the idea of that but really the devs are pretty much promoting toxic and ######### play. it's a tough challenge.

What you talking about at rank 1? These days all you have to do as a killer is get to rank 12-14 to get matched against rank 1-4.

you are right but thats because there are no red or purple rank killers around anymore. i haven't seen a red or purple rank killer in i don't know how long. every game i have is against a green or yellow rank killer these days.

  • yeah the hit boxes and lag are ridiculous since dedicated servers. i had a killer hit me when he was on the other side of the map and to prove that he wasn't even behind me, my spine chill didn't go off until after he hit me.

i also had a huntress hit me through a wall.

When I play survivor, I prefer not to risk in these situations unless I am 100% sure it is going to work out

yeah it really is a personal preference.

  • i very rarely play killer so i could be wrong about this but i think its more that in SWF people are communicating through chat so everyone knows exactly where the killer is, they have more of an idea when it's safe to unhook especially if the killer is chasing someone else. or if you are on hook you can tell people if someone is coming to get you so everyone else can stay on gens. that can be communicated. where as solo, nothing is certain. you can also communicate what perks the killer has eg if a survivor was getting chased and the killer climbs through the window with bamboozle then that survivor can give the other survivors a heads up so then you adapt and can loop differently or if the killer has spirit fury they can let the other survivors know in advance. basically swf just has an advantage over solo survivors.

like i said, i could be wrong, thats just the way i understand it when people say SWF is OP etc..

  • @PacifiedByDaylight said:

    You should not.

The best you can do in the end game is to leave before killer gets to proc his potential lategame perks and kill you all or get an extra kill on altruism.

I had a lot of games as killer where people preferred to risk their lives to save their teammate which resulted into 3-4 deaths instead of 1-2.

I think this depends on the survivors perks also. a lot of games where myself or my team mates go for the save, they get it and everyone still alive escapes. the killer didn't have noed in the attached videos but one of the saves was in the basement...a lot of people will just leave if a survivor is in basement getting camped. i didn't know any of the survivors who saved or i saved so there was no communicating going on. i still think its worth it. but thats just my opinion.

When the gens are finished and I've got my BP nearly max everything except for survival why should I go back into the game and risk my 5k BP at the very end ,because you went down and wanted to be saved?

Why does anyone care that i leave early? The team worked together because it's the best chance for survival. So when my survival is guarentee why shouldn't I take it?

you don't have to go back if you don't want to but if you've pretty much maxed out everything then why wouldn't you? you aren't going to lose blood points and you will pip anyway so its not like you are really losing or risking anything if you go back for the save.

99% of the time i will go back for the survivor because i know that if it was me on the hook i would like to be saved (wouldn't be angry if i wasn't but it's always nice to know that your "team" has your back) the only time i am hesitant is if a killer like billy or bubba or tier 3 myers is camping or there is noed. then it becomes a bit difficult. it's still possible to save though. i had a game with a camping nurse whose noed was next to the hooked survivor. (this is during end game) and our team still managed to save and everyone got out. in my opinion it's worth saving, i don't like leaving anyone behind if i can help it but again, its completely up to you, you aren't obliged to do anything.

  • I know someone who went from a 6 hour penalty to 24 then to a 48 hour penalty. (After the smaller penalties) Not sure if it’s a glitch or if there is just not 12 hour etc..?

I thought someone said it’s meant to reset ever 12 hours if there is no dc in between.

  • @Rezblaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1118281#Comment_1118281

    You ######### kidding me?

A killer has to hook each survivor 3 times. For a total of 12 hooks.

Green Mori bypasses two of these hooks. Requiring, if used, only a mere 10 hooks for a 4k 'win'. That bypasses 1/6 of their objective.

A key to unlock a hatch, while also bypassing 1/6 of their objective, is not nearly as fair, because unlike the Green Mori, *it activates for EVERYONE in the match, not just for the single survivor*.

Meaning, a Mori'd survivor can mean the other three can still recover, or do objectives. The Killer has one OFFERING that gives him the chance to do this to all survivors.

The Survivors have not one, but TWO ITEMS that can open the hatch and instantly win matches for all survivors.

Don't you even DARE compare a Green Mori to a Purple or Pink Key.

if you are going to make the point of winning the match because EVERYONE can get out the hatch then maybe you need to remember that for everyone to get out the hatch ALL 5 gens need to be completed. I’m sorry but if you haven’t sacrificed 1 person by the time ALL gens are done then the survivors deserve to escape and they would probably get out the exit gates if not the hatch anyway.

green mori, you can use any time on anyone that you’ve already hooked once. Hatch isn’t instant for survivors. survivors have to wait the whole game and then find the hatch if they are all going to escape and generally they would have to be all together.

with saying all that, I’m personally not against the green mori, ebony however, is in my opinion OP.

I just don’t understand why people think that keys are an “instant” win for ALL survivors.

It's fun as hell to facecamp with Bubba and ruin people's games after you've had enough of getting flashlight clicked and teabagged by a 4-man meta load SWF that just stomped you on Thompson House thinking they're amazing

let me see if I understand this correctly. You camp with bubba because you’re sick of survivors being toxic except you camping is just going to make them even more toxic. Hmmm

  • @JoeyBob said:

I use agitation, iron grasp, NOED, and insidious. Actually thinking of replacing iron grasp w/ mad grit.

Anyways, usually ill get at least a 2k with this build. At least 2k is basically guaranteed if i get the first survivor in the basement. It's not even rare that I get 4ks in my games, where 2-3 people get hooked in basement and i get the last guy with NOED.

I use to play killer normally, but ever since ruin got nerfed I get gen rushed even if I have good chases and get chain downs ect. Camping is a lot less stressful and rewarding imo, because you dont worry about how you will be gen rushed regardless of how your chases go. I recommend more people try it! It's also very rewarding if the survivor you camp was previously tea bagging you with a flashlight and becomes toxic in end game chat!

I never understood how this is a fun way to play the game. i mean, what is even the point of playing if you are just going to camp and do nothing else? maybe less stress but doesn't it just get boring. Just curious.

and if you don't care how you get gen rushed and clearly don't care how many kills you get, then how is playing normally stressful.

  • @Wingnut221 said:

So I recently had a game as a survivor against a plague (xbox btw). Survivors are winning as the plague has only hooked about 2 or 3 of us and there was only one gen remaining. Anyway, it seems the she rage quits and dcs. The scoreboard shows and I notice that I didn't get any bloodpoints from that game, even though my score was around 11,000 and the killer had the dc icon next to it so I knew that I didn't accidentally disconnect. I then realise that my ultra rare map was gone as well. I was confused by this cause I thought that when the killer dcs, survivors keep their items and bps. Does anyone else have this problem or is this just a one off?

i quite often find that what the scoreboard shows isn't always the actual outcome when a killer dc's. that's happened to me a lot when a killer dc's and it will show that i lose a pip but when i get back to my lobby, i found that i still got my bloodpoints from that match and i either safety pipped or pipped. you will lose your offering unless the game is cancelled as soon as you get into a game though. in regards to items, usually you don't lose them unless you have used all the charges before the killer dc's.
