So it seems no one really has a straight answer lol. 50/50 save me vs killer is camping

I actually did a poll about a month ago in the forums and got about a 50/50 split so I’m glad I always run kindred so I know lol

With how sweaty the community seems to be (both roles), I try to be nice. I never insult the killer or survivors in the chat, I don’t t-bag or point or flashlight clicking unless the killer was a douche for the whole match (I do like to twerk with Ghostface, it’s fun).

When it comes to killers doing challenges, if I notice they’re taking people to the dungeon, and my team is full of idiot potatoes who keep getting caught, And we have 1 or no gens done, I’ll just head to the dungeon to let them get their challenge.

it’s only a game. It’s not going to change anyone’s life if they win or lose every match.

Can’t tell you how many Trappers I’ve given the challenge right at the start of the match. They usually end up letting the entire team escape

This was on Hawkins and this guy just kept running to the top floor even though nothing was there. He wasn’t playing the game and just sitting there. The only time I caught him and got in range was when I outplayed him and then he dc’d. In my eyes if your sole purpose during a match is to ruin someone else’s fun or prevent someone from getting a challenge done for the sake of it, you’re just as toxic to me as someone else dc’ing.

If he’s last yeah I agree, if I knew that’s whey you were doing and you already had the 3 kills in basement I wouldn’t even struggle once you downed me. Cheers to getting that stupid challenge done!

Now if it’s early in the game I will run to that floor and waste your time to help my team and I don’t consider that toxic

  • @Ugum said:

If I'm the last Survivor caught I usually won't even struggle. I just let them take me wherever. At that point, we lost the match anyhow. A lot of times when I don't struggle they will actually give me the hatch.

I play to have fun, for both sides. If I have a fun killer (or a really skilled killer who steamrolls us) I'll give them some kudos after the game. Makes the game fun (which is what it's supposed to be).

Same, I try to win but I don’t usually go super sweaty as killer or survivor. If the game goes approx 10 minutes with no camping it’s probably a good game, if survive great, if not that’s cool too kudos to the killer and I hope I helped my team escape.

As killer if I stack BBQ to 4 and get 50-60k blood I am a happy guy even if all 4 escape

  • @Nameless said:

If they ever do a challenge similar to this, they better have those dc punishments enabled lmao. It’s happened to me twice yesterday that the survivors simply refuse to play the game and run to the corner of the map just so I couldn’t get my challenge done. Once I finally got in range of the basement because the smartass ran into my trap, they simply pull the plug. I didn’t even play unfair either, some people are just that toxic lmao.

Running to the corner is different to me than DC, at least then you have a chance if you an catch them a little closer each time

im trying to keep myself on R7-8 (+i have smurft too but about it later)

on survs i cant find way to play to not rank up (because of constant buffing emblems for survivors) so im stuck on red rank if i play

but on killer sometimes im playing sandbag wraith (3 perks and 2 addons that are handicapping me) or just normal killer but not killing anyone before 6th or 7th hook (and i never use ruin so it lowers gatekeeper anyway) or there are games where i dont kill at all (to not rank up)

why i do it? on surv to meet way less tunnelers, red+purple add on killers and tbh in over 2/3 of my escapes i have with item (almost 2/3 with new looted item) so when i dont loot anything good a lot of time i let killer kill me (if i feel they played fair)

on killer, games are slower so i can play playstyle i love which is hooking 6 or (its not that rare) 8 times before someone is dead. And you cant tell my de-ranking is toxic or anything, if you dont kill survs before 6th hook they had a lot of time to get bp/play the game, and emblems are supporting my playstyle i dont use slowdown perks, dont slug (gatekeeper is crushed), dont push kills (2nd emblem is crushed), ok 3rd and chaser i have almost every game gold+ but 2 emblems cant carry you to pip

why smurf? i have rank 17-20 friends, i wont make them play vs red/purple rank killer xd i dont want them to quit game because killer will sweat, and ofc i dont play serious on those ranks xd most of the time i let killer kill me

I play killer like you, or at least try. I aim to hook everyone once first for BBQ stacks then start in on second hooks although by that time the game is almost over against a decent team.

If I down someone after gates are powered I generally let them out as I feel they have “earned it,” at that point. Also as a survivor player too I know how huge those 5000 escape blood points can be sometimes

  • This is their way to feel they “win,” even though they actually lost. even before challenges survivors would DC while you carried them to third hook and claim you “didn’t kill me.”

It’s the reason I will never even try that challenge, maybe once it’s the only challenge left I’ll keep it selected “just in case,” but I won’t ever expect to get it.

  • Survivor side the biggest benefit is MAYBE your teammates are more competent compared to being in green and yellow ranks but honestly anymore I get some really bad teammates even at rank 1-2

Other than that there is no reason to rank up, but if you’re good enough then you will rank up anyways unless you purposely depip yourself.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/115417/why-do-skins-cost-so-much-shards

Tbf, what else you want then shards for if not characters? But I agree, them 21k for one outfit is really heavy. I have over 100k shards stored now. But I can't get myself into buying one because it just costs so much that I feel like it's not worth. It's some weird situation for me lol.

Same, I have 50k but I’m afraid to “waste,” it on an outfit like what if they start letting us get something else?

  • Here’s the thing, skins are entirely optional if you don’t want to pay that much or can’t justify it in your budget then don’t.

I rarely buy cosmetics but if I spend 10 bucks a month one auric cells for them I still consider that really really cheap entertainment. Yes DBD costs money but there isn’t a monthly fee so it’s still cheaper than WOW for example

Survivors tbag to communicate as well. We do it at the beginning of matches. If a killer sees us early, welp we're getting sweatied against.

The thing is, we have a limited amount of ways to motion with survivor so sometimes I even teabag to thank a killer.

I had one killer who downed someone almost instantly so they DC and then another person DC as a result. 2-1 he saw me and started smacking a gen and proceeded to let us do all gens and leave. When he walked us to the exit gate I pointed, put down my medkit and the. Teabagged my way out the door I certainly hope he realizes that was all THANKS and not being toxic

You misunderstood me. It's not that it's unfair, it's just a lousy way to play when you intentionally build to make the killer miserable. This game worked out well for me, I will definitely admit. I didnt post screenshots of the earlier matches where I just got gutted by the same types of teams. As the title of my post says, "been like this all evening."

I guess my question is do you play survivor too? I play both so when I’m a killer I can’t exactly whine about DS, BT, DH or adrenaline because when I turn around and play survivor I’m probably using at least 2 of those perks each game.

like people already said it seems this team was just meming around, that actually makes SWF like this easier to play against than four randoms.

  • @YaiPa said:

It's done on purpose so that you're more willing to drop 10$ rather than wasting what? 100 levels? Hundreds of hours of playtime?

This, I would rather pay $2.50 for a piece or even $10 for an outfit rather than “waste shards.” I like to stockpile those for when I wanna but shrine stuff for fast Bloodpoints on new chapter killers.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

As a survivor, I kind of like Purple ranks. Depends on the killer and how dirty they play.

I'm only a Green rank killer, and I find that I have either a huge snowball effect, or I get completely stomped when I get a little higher. Very rarely do I have a close one where they almost escape.

Then again, I'm asking rank 12-15 survivors to play around Ruin with a crouched Pig or a bear trap near by.

Also, now that you've had some time as a killer, @stylisticx, do you find players who DC more annoying as Survivor or as Killer? I had a game tonight where I had 2 early DC's against my Trapper, and it's frustrating, but I actually find it to be worse on the Survivor side.

As killer when a survivor DCs early I make up my mind that I’m just looking for my 3 stacks of BBQ and then I’ll hurry the survivors out of the game. I won’t “farm,” that’s boring and takes too long, but I’ll take them to show them where ruin is and then let them do gens in peace. If they insist on screwing around too much though it’s back to the hook.

The one exception is lately I have been letting people smash pallets on me or blind me if I think they have a challenge to do.

As a survivor if a teammate DCs early I just try to do my best to at least get a black pip out of it which isn’t always easy.

  • @stylisticx said:

I'm a pretty decent survivor I'd say, I usually hover in purple ranks. I played maybe one or two games as killer when I first got this game, and HATED it. I suck as killer because I've never been good at aiming with the controller on a video game. I decided to try killer out tonight after a couple months and I'm having a blast even though I'm bad at it. But I see how hard it actually is. Even though I have an advantage from my survivor experience to help, I still really could only manage to get a few kills. (High rank survivors are RANDOM.) But I swear I get stuck on EVERYTHING. That's what annoys me the most is getting caught on random obects especially in a chase.

Side note: High rank survivors really confuse me. I literally opened the door for them and they teabagged me. Wut.

The last part made me laugh, sometimes they’re meming I think but sometimes they are legit trying to be toxic too.

As someone who plays 50-50 each side i almost always let the last person have hatch if I manage a 4K situation. I’ve had a few games that get ugly early, like Billy with infectious or a well timed haunted ground, where all survivors are hooked or slugged within the first couple minutes. I let them all up, carried them to save each other or work in gens and at the end one of them said “baby killer this is so EZ”

  • Huntress has become so fun for me lately, which is great news for survivors I play against because I’m sooo sooo bad with her

Gotta love how all theses people act like makeing a AAA game is so easy and that promising something means it has to happen. Lay off the devs I'm positive that they are working as hard as they can. I want to hear from a game developer that can set this all straight and instead of players just shitting on a damn good game. Yeah it has its bugs but name one AAA game that doesn't have it's issues after 3 years. If someone can bring proof of a game like that then go away and play something ealse and don't wine bout something you can't not will help with.

I can hit the skill checks. You acknowledged that.

Then this. "This post wont convince them too" yes i can hit skill checks yet i want them to stop ysing ruin? Are you seriously implying i dont want a killer wasting a perk slot? Are you even listening to whats being said?

I acknowledged you can not Ruin checks, but your claim was that EVERYONE above green ranks hits them... that is flat out laughable. As a solo player at least 2 of my teammates struggle with ruin to the point of looking for it before doing gens.

If you’re doing misty SWF sure your team doesn’t care about ruin. But if you’re a solo survivor, even if you hit every single check, ruin is slowing 2-3 of your teammates down and your team would be better off if killers stopped using it.

  • @Stitch7833 said:

  • @MiktheSpik said:

Implying ruin is good. Me and every other green rank and above just nail the skill checks. Silly killer mains thinking their brown rank strats actually are viable at higher ranks. Try corrupt intervention. Make the survivors come to you and kill them without them even starting a gen let alone rushing one.

No, you don’t. Even at rank 1/2 games people get sparks and probably half of the solo players I encountered won’t do gens til ruin is gone...

If you hit the greats that’s good, but don’t claim everyone does. If everyone did killers really would stop running it but they don’t and this post won’t convince them to

  • @Exerlin said:

Haunted Grounds and Devour Hope are really the only other ones worth running, but they're less likely to be as effective as Ruin. In my experience, Devour Hope is just a "win harder" perk, and Haunted Grounds is sometimes a free down. Neither of them seem good, but they at least come into play sometimes.

Haunted ground gives you that rare game where you manage two insta downs early for momentum and you think it’s OP then there’s game it gets triggered when you’re carrying someone else and you don’t get anything.

i agree devour hope is win more, by the time you activate the mori part the game is over you’re just getting The animations

People do this because it's a guaranteed way to de-rank as killer and get easier matches.

I've also noticed killers going AFK to grind Rift XP, as it's based on time spent in a match rather than points.

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do but do gens and leave. Report them if it makes you feel better.

Not sure reporting does anything, they aren't holding the game hostage. Technically being nice and letting survivors farm points is a way to play the game I guess? It's like a super exxagerated version of giving hatch.

I don't quite understand why we are all getting at each others throats here. Yes, they weren't able to fully complete their road map but remember guys they have done a lot of things this roadmap.

More cosmetics, that plenty of people enjoy, more balances buffs and increases, nerfs things that improve the game quality. They've been testing out dedicated servers they even had a PTB to try and show they were making progress on it. They have made updates in the attempt to improve the functionality of the game on consoles, and people with low end PC's. And yes there are somethings that are still causing performance issues. Red woods, and maps of that sort with lots of fog and objects and such. But those are just things to be not every game touched runs absolutely smoothly especially with how many updates these guys have been pushing out regularly to attempt to fix and adjust frames and such. They release cosmetics pretty regularly they worked on the rift, and they continue with trying to make it the best expierence that they can for the players and im sure all they want is everyones support to do this.

Just a one word answer, do you feel overall this game is a better, worse or same spot compared to Jan 1 2019?

  • @beatddb said:

I feel like The Trapper is still stuck in 2016, his gameplay without addons is probably the most outdated thing in this game.

And the best thing is, he doesn't need a rework like Freddy or (pls no) Legion, he just needs some numbers tweaked: start with 2-4 traps. Would this be too strong?

Another complaint I've been reading is that people don't like his traps being RNG based, so just adding a skillcheck interaction (like searching through a jigsaw box) could work really well.

This would mean changing some addons, though.

I just wonder why devs haven't done anything to him so far

The randomness bugs me as a survivor and those rare games I play trapper. I have had times he was across the map but made it to me because it took like 10 tries... I also had one in terror radius who I’m sure thought he had me but first try and I was out of the trap gonzo lol

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Yaaaay, another thread shitting all over the devs. Look, I get that putting our disappointment out there lets the devs know something up, but it’s near the end of the year and they are probably on their break now. You can’t magically expect them to fix every single issue the game has immediately. Of course, they were ambitious with their dates but it just hasn’t worked out that way. They know these issues exist and they will work on them, we have to have confidence in them rather than constantly barraging them with pointless hate.

Maybe we should all go play another game, as someone suggested although I can’t quite remember who... oh wait that’s right the leader of this entire game team

It should be only 3 sacrifices, so if there is only one that DC's or you can't find after killing the third one its not like a time waste

This would be a great compromise, I actually denied someone it by simply running to the corner every time. Even with agitate iron grasp they couldn’t get me there and each time I had just enough windows to make it back to the spot I needed.

I considered letting him have it since as killer I know how annoying it can be to get done but... man now I really wish I would have let him get it

  • I figured LOL I was trying to save some pride.

  • @SnakeSound222 said:

I think DS should immediately deactivate when the Survivor interacts with something (no more invincibility lockers), another Survivor gets downed before the DS user (if the Killer had time to down another Survivor before getting back to you, then that means you failed to run away in time and don't deserve the escape), or the exit gates are powered (the stun is way too crippling at that point).

It shouldn't activate if the Killer is more than 32 meters away (let's be honest, if the Killer is looking for Survivors halfway across the map and is able to come back and still find you after you're unhooked, then that's you just being bad at hiding, not tunneling).

These changes will prevent DS from being abused and actually make it a fair perk.

Not when another person gets downed, but when they get hooked I think is more fair.

But the part about interacting with an object, especially locker or generator, is a good one I never thought of.

I had a random in my lobby that said he was going to buy Yui after how effectively I used her perks in a game with 5 people struggling free. The only reason I would consider breakdown an ineffective perk to run is because of the number of people that are running IG + Agitation for the basement challenge.

Any means necessary can be situational, but I've found its greatest use it resetting pallets after you try to use them to stun a killer carrying a survivor. Basically, just use it in tandem with breakdown and any means necessary will use proc twice a match.

Its not worth going out of your way to go bodyblock for a survivor a good distance away. Like any other perk, it should work for you, not you working for it. Stick to the gen pressure, make sure you have a healing perk, and Yui's perks are all amazing.

Hmmm thanks for the feedback, I guess it’s worth it especially with the double blood points coming up soon.

When I'm nearly done a gen and the person with me blows it sometimes I'll slowly turn towards them in a "facepalm" moment, not because I'm being "toxic" but because I'm having fun and giving them DBDs version of a facepalm emote.

I like this one, combined with a point modifier for killers.

I think another thing that should be considered, since Gen speed is hard to touch, is reverse leader; if they are SWF, they get a lot of extra information. Make it so other, non-gen actions are slightly skewed towards killer. Since one person finding the Hex totem means the entire SWF finds it, make it so Hex totems get a slight Thrill of the Hunt slow effect against SWFs. Make it so the exit gates take a little longer to open, since people can know when they are nearly opened and which ones to go to. Make it so hook progression is slightly faster, since they can tell their friends when the killer is nearby and if someone is coming to save them. Chests probably don't need to be touched.

This is what people don’t get about communication, but you hit it on the head. Just knowing whether it is actually safe to keep working on a gen without even having to look around because the killer is chasing someone else is HUGE. When three gens are left knowing which one is progressed is HUGE. Knowing which exit gate is 99 is HUGE.

Now most SWF aren’t the unbeatable death squads people complain about, but even friends on comms gain advantage so a little little bit of a hindrance like you described would be perfect.

How? Did you hide in a locker or behind a tree all game?

I almost literally can’t Depip as survivor, the only time it happens is if I get tunneled right away or 2 teammates DC and the killer still plays sweaty

  • Fair enough, I just feel this really sucks for new survivors but I guess it’s their choice to play with their friends. It does also stink to be that one solo player at rank 2 when your teammates are SWF at rank 2, 15 and 20... against any decent rank 2 killer you’re getting crushed

I think what sets the difference in the red rank survivors this season from good and bad is you’ll notice a huge skill gap between rank 4 to rank 1. You’ve still got lower tier purple ranks getting to level 4. But most lower quality red ranks from what I’ve seen have a hard time getting past level 3. They usually won’t make it out of or past three. I’ve got rank one through all the ranking updates and by far this update has made it the most obtainable. I’m playing level 2-3 killers and they aren’t that great.. hell even level one killers. Before this update it was a lot more grindy. A true purple rank player would never really get past 5 maybe reach 4 towards the end. And you’re higher tier “sweat” survivors were rank 1-2 half through season. They need to fix it though. I’m playing with bad red ranks now.

I’m already at rank 2 and I was on vacation the first Four days of reset, and I am not that good. Generally I would reach rank 1 by about three weeks into reset, now I’m there in a couple days.

    1. Since when rank means anything? as surv as long as youre not hard tunneled or afk you wont de-pip
    2. There is plenty of 130h players in red ranks
    3. At least they are doing gens (most of my "teammates" are looking for ruin for 5min)
    4. Just find ruin so they can stop tapping Kek

grest point, tapping is better than running the map three times looking for ruin for 10 minutes

A survivor goofing around with another survivor is toxic? Well... I guess everything is toxic these days.

Seriously, if I spawn with others we usually spend 5 seconds screwing around before we run off to do anything... this isn’t life folks it’s a game
