yeah I don't know how they think a reporting system that requires video evidence and manual review for every single ban would ever be sufficient for a game with more than 100 people playing it consistently
-
@Mandy said:
The buttons are not "dummy buttons" first of all, they flag the match so that we can see it really took place.
The video evidence for hacking/cheating is definitely required, and we do not ban unless there is very clear evidence of the cheat.
(edit to add: could also have found a key in a chest on the map, this will not show in the end screen).
wasn't there a dude that streamed himself openly and obviously hacking for years
-
If bhvr thinks removing perk tiers isn't enough of a reduction then what you are suggesting isn't even close

They probably have a similar stance as awarding BP for vsing swfs which is they want to solve the root problem. Which is fine but like... Please do it soon.
they wont, it took them how many years to give trapper, their poster boy, an extra trap to start out with.

hook spawns play a way bigger role in who wins a match than many people realize.

I don't think they nerfed it enough.
Isn't it only like a 3 second nerf across the board?
That still doesn't address the time sink Killers have to go through in order to disable it temporarily.
Nerfs it by 4 seconds by a self heal and 2 seconds from a medkit or a teammate
-
i dont care tbh

Oh I thought you were Sluzzy for a minute when I read the title and didn't bother to look at the name till after I'd already read your rant. You have a point in that his face camping ability is too strong and it's basically impossible to realistically save someone off-hook from a decent bubba. Every other part of his kit is perfectly fine. If you are having trouble looping him I'd recommend going to windows more if the bubba is going for chainsaws every time. He does slow down when he revs his chainsaw just like billy but he does accelerate nearly as face and doesn't reach anywhere near billy's top speed so if you arent in a long loop then just drop the pallet and run away if you are in a dead zone you are ######### anyways.

Try using it in soloQ then tell me. If you get destroyed by 4man's on comms, CoH is not to blame.
I haven't played since September so no, and that's a problem is that soloQ is weak not CoH. Plus i've seen plenty of people tell me how actually busted even in soloQ so ill believe their words more then joe shmo

In august the drop in the player is because the hype for the RE was over the sbmm was not out yet. The sbmm release at the same time of pinhead and that is in september you can see it was the more or less the same for september and october. In november everything change the boon were out and killer are unhappy with the balance so a lot of player leave it could be because of the sbmm too people could have gotten burn out of it.
The reason i believe its the balance is because when they nerf DS you could see an increase of 7% in the player. That why i believe the balance play a huge role for keeping the player actif in the game.
Balance im sure absolutely plays a role but you also have to remember that they were doing a lot of experiments SBMM and then they announced it was coming to live, I thought it did come out in august but yeah im wrong on that one.

I am old Myers main. I stopped play because it is just bully simulator at high mmr/ranks. You can not play without anti-loop killers against good survivors because maps are terrible. I waited years some love for Myers but nah...
And like you said, they are just looking everything but job is so slow. I don't know when this changes will come to live. Solo survivor buffs, Legion & Ghosty buffs etc.
Oh yeah poor Myers dude's power has been left in the dust, hasn't seen base kit changes since October of 2019 and that was just a slight buff to his tier 1 his weakest state that you want to get out of as soon as possible. You'd think they'd want arguably their most iconic killer license they have to be a little more interesting.

Why the same as before? before you were matched against players close to your rank..
Well before you would barely be put with people your rank, remember the constant rainbow lobbies?
To the second question to put it simply MMR doesn't actually account for "skill" it only takes kills or survives into account. It also doesn't take team play into account either since a survivor doesn't gain mmr if they die running the killer to allow the rest of their team to escape making it 4 1v1's with the killer and each survivor. One last thing is that there is an MMR soft cap in which matchmaking will atop caring how high above the soft cap you are you will still be placed at the soft cap (Example: the softcap is 1800 you and you have 2500 MMR, the system won't care how much higher above 1800 you are and will consider you at the soft cap.)
It also heavily prioritizes speed over accuracy meaning someone with 2k hours can still in some cases be placed against someone who literally just booted the game for the first time.
tl:dr- doesn't accurately measure skill, and prioritizes speed over accuracy.

How much could a new mode even change the meta though? I can only think of it going 2 ways
- The meta is the exact same because the mode is similar in concept
- The new mode doesn’t account for perk design so niche perks become overwhelmingly strong
Easy you can make a mode that doesn't have gens or perks, addons or items. Think like a prophunt mode, not saying they should do that just an example.
-
Basically the same as before in that it doesn't really do anything.

True. I'm mainly talking about the fact that after the first Bloodweb changes they never really mentioned the Grind until like 2 years ago. But only really in passing and "keeping an eye on it".
Yeah thats cause bhvr likes to think the changes that make it to live fix all the problems it was intended to fix and are to prideful to step back on it till they get enough heat for it, which can take years.
Still holding out hope they'll revert billy one day but if they do it won't be a revert it will just be another rework that will be a roll of the dice on whether it's a good change or not.

And how would a new mode fix these issues? Every mode will have a meta people will use
Notice how I said STALE meaning it's been around for so long it's old and boring. "Metas" are obviously gonna be a thing no matter what kind of mode they could come up with but it'd be new and different, the same damn game mode with so few changes over the past couple years means that people have way more time to optimize and figure out what the most effective thing to do is with the least amount of effort put in.

They've "known" about the grind for at least 2 years.
Yet in the recent QnA it's like the first time they actually directly commented on looking at it and really taking it seriously. It's hard to explain, but just listen to how they talk about it in the recent QnA, as if they needed 2 years of collecting data to really see that it is an issue.
The grind has been a problem for the entirety of the game, the bloodweb system is just an awful progression system.

DbD has a grind problem and it gets worse with all the new content. So some questions were about this on Q&A. So what we know?
They are working on this, they knew grind issue. This is good, at least we know they are looking it.
They don't want to remove perk tiers because it will not be permanent solution. Grind will be issue again with new contents.
So what we should wait on this case? What do you think? Probably we will get new system, are you trusting BHVR on this case?
What reason would I have to trust them, I've disagreed with bhvr on at least half of the changes they've made since I started playing, and only on very few cases have I come around to agreeing on changes I initially disagreed with but if there's one thing in the 3 or 4 years I've played its that our opinions don't ######### matter.

It’s the money. Obviously. Sony and Microsoft would lose out on money if cross progress would be enabled. They are aware that people mostly want to switch to pc because of performance issues etc.
And they won’t say it nor are they allowed to say it when negotiations are still on-going.
That makes sense, and even if it does come each console will probably have exclusives.

@Phasmamain said:
How would a new game mode stop sweaty players? They’ll play both modes more than likely
Well 1 it would freshen things up a lot and 2 sweaty players aren't really the problem, it's that the meta has been insanely stale for years, with the only change being DS is no longer a complete staple and has been semi replaced by CoH. The overall hold w gaemplay for survivors and camping and tunneling for killers has sucked a lot of the fun out of the game.

Yeah it was weird, i will give that. But is there any reason to make BT base-kit? I really can not see any point. If they wanna buff solo-q, they should buff solo-q without make SWF stronger. This is just not makes any sense to me.

Yes, i did.
I mean yeah we obviously don't know if they will do it, but they are definitely looking into it as a possibility which that alone warrants discussion. Especially since even if they said they would do it its still not a garuntee that they'd actually do it since they seem to change their mind on things frequently. Probably why they get so little done.

One is monetized. One is not. I have never until recently had people in my video games who are demanding an audience. I don't get paid if I beat them. They get paid if they beat me. I have a day job so the dollar amount is trivial, but it's more the point.
What are you talking about? Are you that guy who said that streamers should pay every person they play with a few months ago. Their pay is completely disconnected from you playing against them. They get payed, IF they get payed, it's because of their personality or because they are good at the game or a mixture of both. People aren't showing up to the stream and watching and subbing or donating because they played with you.

An answer that consists of "it'll come eventually probably" even though bhvr is well past when it was initially projected isn't a particularly solid answer imo. Other games have done this before why is bhvr having so many problems?

Do wish more people was like it though, sadly most people only care about themselves or to belittle others.
I shall always play in a fun way and help others not matter the game. But when it's no longer fun I'll stop (DBD atm, go real bored with its current unbalance I got)
The killer vs survivor posts and threads have certainly gotten pretty annoying and I feel like it's worse then ever

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/305854/are-killer-mains-actually-dropping-out
I think its not the sbmm that push the killer away but the CoH being a problem and removing the fun playstyle of killer. You can see a massive drop of player in october just when boon got release and you can see when they nerf DS to the way it is now you have an increase in the player base. So im a strong believer that its not the sbmm that push people away but the lack balance.
You can also see an 18% dip in players in August when the sbmm came out so I think there might be a slight correlation.

I don't think it's "weird" to believe that the majority of players (survivors) are ranking up in SBMM faster than the minority (Killers), and are finding themselves at a level where there are plenty of players like them, but only a fraction of their oppositions population can compete. This is also why we get the random discrepancies in player skill levels, wherein a relatively new killer, or one that's low-mid range in skill, will get paired with an SWF high SBMM Bully squad decked out with all meta builds and items. SBMM is searching for killers of that teams level, and if none are available, it looks for players in the next ranking down, and repeats until it finds someone. Though these instances are more rare than they were before SBMM came out, they still happen due to the new match making algorithms.
It's Frustrating I know, but also makes sense. Add in the time of day, and you get a clearer perspective as well, since there are overall less players on both sides in the evening hours vs. mid day, and their skill levels vary greatly since SBMM is basically pairing them with "Whoever's Available". A Streamer (Tru3) recently did an experiment to see if there was a difference in skill between those he's matched up with in the mid day vs. evening, and the results were pretty concrete to say the least.
Actually killers rank up much faster in SBMM there are just a lot less of them, when sbmm hit higher skilled killers had pretty long queue times and through datamining they found that there were significantly was a significantly higher amount of killers at the MMR softcap (cap at which the matchmaking stops caring not the actual MMR cap which doesn't exist to my knowledge) then survivors but after a few days the majority of players that were in queue were already at that cap.
So it was pretty much the same situation as with the color grades where the majority of players were at red ranks which made it not really matter much.
That said they keep changing that MMR soft cap so who knows what they are right now but based on what I've seen with SBMM not actually being a good measure of skill and the heavy inconsistencies between matches tells me that even if the numbers have changed the problem hasn't.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
BHVR said that sbmm didn't have much affect on queue times in their test so i haven't been believing it's that.
Survivor queue times are way longer than killer for me right now and along with my own experience and others experience shared on Youtube, Reddit and these forums it's enough for me to believe killer is just not super fun right now. Especially with Boon Totems and Hit Validation (Dead Hard Buff)
They also said that kills and escapes wouldn't be what determined your SBMM score so, it's not like they haven't lied to us in the past.

The emblem system contains skill-based information that should have been implemented in the SBMM, no question. However, the emblem system was most definitely flawed. Of course, you never thought your score was unfair. Everyone likes to think they are better than they are. The emblem system ranked you up far too easily, especially on the survivor side. It gave you far more points than you deserved and did not accurately represent the actual skill of the players. You could easily get to red ranks just from playing a lot, regardless of actual skill. It could have, however, been modified to work as a skill-based MMR system if they changed the values, imo. They were already using a lot of skill-based elements. I'm not sure why they went with something so basic that still doesn't represent actual skill.
The biggest problem with the emblem system was that they didn't even use the ranks to matchmake for the most part, hence rainbow lobbies. The other large issue was that the weights of things had some outliers that needed fixing, like one shot killers got zero chase points, same with wraith and nurse.

@Adjatha said:
There is no good reason for them to remove perk tiers.
A lot of players just play for the blood points. A lot of blood points go into unlocking perks. If they cut out 2/3rds of the blood webs you needed to go through to get your perks, bp would be a far lesser draw. Without an excuse to play for BP, people would start playing only for the win (which DbD is wildly not balanced enough to handle). When people don't get wins AND don't need the BP, they'd stop playing.
The grind is the game. Like it or not.
I disagree I play the game because the game is fun, having a progression system is great to have don't get me wrong but BP is an awful progression system and just feels like it's built to make me want to stick only to a few killers and 1 maybe 2 survivors. The grind in this game doesn't feel rewarding only limiting. Plus I have multiple friends who quit because of the grind.
-
@tesla said:
While your efforts to come up with this are noble, this change wouldn't be healthy as explained in previous answers. But you actually give me a good killer perk idea: When you hook someone, the gen repair speed is cut by half, but so is the hook stage progression, until the survivor is unhooked. It would disencourage camping, but it would also disencourage the strategy of "just let me complete this gen, then I'll go save". It would also give the killer more time to use its pop.
I never thought this oulw necessarily be an overall good cha ge but was more looking at changes that would reduce gameplay strategies that eliminate interaction between sides. Basically camping and gen rushing I wanted to look at both are each other's counter but they also make the game a lot less fun.
-
yeah their explanation makes no sense honestly since if they removed perk tiers it would take almost 15 years just to catch back up to the number of perks you have to buy right now to max out 1 killer and 1 survivor
-
@Toybasher said:
IIRC, devs have actually tried this like 5 years ago to try and combat face-campers. It didn't work out very well and it was reverted, or it was tried on a beta and decided against, or something.
I do remember them trying it once though. This was also back when facecamping was a lot more busted in terms of "Balance." (Survivors could ONLY unhook from the front of the hook, meaning a literal "In your face" facecamper would block the unhook prompt. If you went AFK in front of the hook the survivor was doomed to die because it was physically impossible to rescue them.)
I think what they tried was just making it so the hook timer doesn't go down while the killer is within a certain vicinity to the survivor the problem with it was that survivors would loop in that area and if they went down they'd just wait for the killer to pick up to save and no progress for the killer was made since they also didn't implement some kind of killer buff to go along with the change so it was just a flat nerf to the killer.
