They have officially said that they aimed for an average of 2K.
Here is the winning condition. 2K = draw.
so a team who does 4 gens and 2 escape with a key is a draw even though the killer did more of their objective then the survivors?

There's no difference, because both are posting the same (supposedly) leaked content.
Is posting a pic of a naked person the same as talking about a person being naked?

We can assume it is working on the ELO system as all the other games. We don't need leaks for it.
When 100% of the ranked systems in the video game industry are working with the ELO system, why would DbD be any different ?
because other games that have an elo system have a set win condition DbD does not

What exactly do you believe is the difference between posting "Guys, here's a leak" and "Guys, here's what this leak I saw said" that makes one OK and the other not?
Well one is discussion and the other could be breaking their contractual agreements with other companies

Yes, you're right. There's really only one reason. That reason being that the rules explicitly forbid discussing leaks (real or not).
the rules explicitly forbid posting leaks not talking about it, they say to avoid not nearly as much of a hard stance.

So much transparency that the threads about MMR disappear one by one :D.

It really does not, there are like 4 active thread atm about SBMM and I'm certain the developers saw your previous thread.
Im sure someone will say "Players ought to be able to see our MMR" in one of those.
Well I think otherwise so if you disagree you don't have to interact with this thread
-
@Orion said:
It makes no difference what BHVR says or does, because the people who keep making those threads will just use it as "proof" that they're right.
Just like I said in a thread that was deleted:
- If it gets deleted, it's because the conspiracy is true and "they" (every conspiracy theory has a faceless "they") are trying to hide it.
- If it gets ignored (or, more likely, not noticed), it's true because otherwise "they" would deny it. This is a very common way to try to get a reaction of of "them", after which, if successful, the people move on to the above point.
- If "they" deny it, "they" are obviously lying and the conspiracy is true.
There's no winning here, because everything just feeds into the conspiracy. What would be the point in BHVR lifting a finger (beyond enforcing the rules)?
If they make your score visible then you can verifiably confirm if the other threads were in fact correct, also it never would have been a problem if they had made it transparent from the get go
-
I think it bears repeating considering recent events also I didn't even remember making it until you said something I just hold that opinion

This is a thing I have a problem with.
Many people say 'sbmm doesn't work well with this game'... To me, SBMM is defining skills that should level one up or down, then implementing a system to quantify and apply so that matches are good.
If SBMM doesn't work, how would people want matchmaking to work? Ideally?
Honestly just go back to grades but with stricter matchmaking and fix the medal system, take into account how each killer interacts with the system and grade instead of cucking one shots or stealth killers by not more heavily weighting a 1 shot down as well as giving killers the full points for a survivor dc as well as a boost to the rest of the survivor team. Just doing that alone would be imo better then what we currently have.
-
Chase times, what map is it with what generated tiles, what perks are being run, what killer is it, what items and offerings are being brought in what addons is the killer running and yes even kills and escapes, but how those kills and escapes were earned shouldbe weighted differently as well. For instance someone who did almost nothing but hid most of the game but still key escaped shouldn't be treated the same as someone who ran the killer for 5 minutes and got tunneled or face camped. Tbh I dont think an sbmm or mmr works very well in this game at all with all those various factors ,that need to weighted differently a considered, play into who is more likely to win.

@milwaukee354 said:
Killer mains have speed, powers, perks and add- ons and still camp or have to camp, are they really that weak
Some kind of are but its not about how powerful the killer is most of the time. Camping just has a good skill/effectiveness ratio. Meaning it takes very little skill and is fairly effective. Problem being you don't really learn how to actually play against decent teams or players doing that so when you do run into those teams and players you get rolled and then go to the forums to complain about gen speed or how ds needs to be nerfed again.
-
My queue times are significantly higher so no. My queue times on killer went from almost instant to like 5-10 minutes if I dont have matchmaking issues which will extend that even further sometimes.

Either fix her bugs that have been in t he g ame since release, and the stupid one when your blink and u cant m1 or else give her normal walk speed, give her the blight treatment/spirit, because theres no reason to choose nurse over spirit when its half the effort.
Uhhh no, she launched 115 and she was beyond stupidly op, shes still the strongest killer in the game even with the bugs.

technically more but that's only because I was barely playing at all last chapter
-
He's very strong and as someone who's been playing him on and off for over 2 years, I'm very happy to see my bing bong boy being so strong, they definitely need to tone down a few addons now though but only slightly, specifically iri clapper and purple all seeing

At the very least.

It's not going to make a difference there is no "give it time to settle" it has supposedly been on in the background collecting data for a year now. It should already know where everyone is because everyone probably has 1000 plus games of data that it has tracked. MMR (or really elo, which MMR effectively is) is a system that doesn't require that many games to figure out your rating, this is why it works, usually it takes around 25 to get your rating where it should be.
Read up on Elo for chess and how it works. Specifically the section on "k-value" which explains how it figures out your rating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system#Most_accurate_K-factor Almost every online multiplayer game that uses, elo or MMR is using some derivative of elo just with their own special sauce.
Basically though, k-value determines how fast your rating changes, the higher the value, the faster the change. It settles to "10" for a kvalue after just 30 games, because after 30 games, they are pretty confident at what your rating should be. Granted this is for chess, but the concept is still similar:
K = 40, for a player new to the rating list until the completion of events with a total of 30 games and for all players until their 18th birthday, as long as their rating remains under 2300.
K = 20, for players with a rating always under 2400.
K = 10, for players with any published rating of at least 2400 and at least 30 games played in previous events. Thereafter it remains permanently at 10.
We don't know how bhvr is weighting certain things or even kills and Escapes or even what they take into account when determining the score so using the score used for chess only gives you a very rough idea of how those systems are supposed to work, buvr might not even have a k-value. Not saying they dont but I'm saying is that we have exactly zero idea of how their system works and that's their intention.

It's a cluster of sweat because the sweaty players haven't increased their MMR into the higher levels yet, obviusly. The new systems been out for like 2 days, give people time to get moved into their proper spots
Its supposedly been collecting data for months though. So why didn't the people who play sweaty start at a higher mmr?

So that's 1/25 killers that have had opinions shifted based on an alteration of playstyle. In the twins case, a heavy emphasis on slugging and camping (much to the chagrin of the player base). I think I'll go with with odds that Pinhead is not going anywhere without help vs someone figuring out a magical cure by shifting how he's played. It just seems to be the safer bet.
Launch Legion had a similar case but the change didn't actually make him that much stronger just really annoying to play against. Other then that though yeah it best to assume pinhead is generally weak currently though not unplayably bad(personal opinion).

@BadMrFrosty said:
There are many people on the forum who would agree with you. On that note, there is also a small minority that seems convinced that he either A. needs more time or B. can only be played by people that have figured out the 'right' way to use him (whatever that means).
figured out the 'right' way to use him (whatever that means).
That means they've had good experiences with him doesnt really mean anything most of the time. Only time I can remember where a killer became significantly better because of a specific playstyle in recent memory is twins.
-
I think you are over estimating how actually complex he is.
-
People in this thread talking like they have any idea is hilarious to me since bhvr has given almost no details on how their mmr system works. This is the problem with a system that only an dev team that breaks their own game every patch with new and exciting bugs can see. All I can say is that the matchmaking is all over the place despite the extensive testing they've done along with the previous post hailing the mmr system as a massive upgrade over the current yet the system seems even more broken then the last.
-
Who the ######### knows, the players certainly dont. BHVR might but I'm not even certain of that tbh.

so you just want to find an issue... congrats... you are the problem. People like you are why these things stay hidden.
because before you understand how something works you just wanna point at a number and say "THIS SCREWED ME".
bhvr has the data. if you had bad matches just go tell them "hey, I had bad matches". and there you go.
numbers won't do anything for you. for many reasons
Because bhvr has always been so responsive to feedback in the past, like trapper needing base kit trapper bags, or key changes, or optimization issues, or map balancing, or improved custom games, or the massive lack of meta shifts in the games perk loadouts, or only having one and only one game mode for over 5 years, or peoples dissatisfaction with linked sets.
People don't need any more reasons to distrust bhvr we already have zero trust in them which is why we should know at least generally how mmr works, im not asking for every single little detail, I just want to know my own score and what the game at least considers a win and what general variables it considers when appointing that win
-
@GrimoireWeiss said:
Because people will just do the same thing they did with the old system. Instead of looking at the quality of the match, they are just going to say "I have ___ MMR and I'm getting paired with people with ___ MMR" even though the match was balanced.
If the match is balanced with say a person with a score of 100 who's paired up with a team consisting of 50, 45, and 60 and then the killer is 140 but the march is balanced the ln the system is working the match just got lucky. If its happening consistently then there's an unknown factor at play that the devs are letting us be privy too. But we can't even speculate that far because we absolutely zero idea of how the system works so if we have a massive slew of bad games all we can do is look like some whiner where as if we knew numbers we'd be able to at least give them some data feedback.
With the current system we just have to trust BHVR, a company that consistently breaks their own game every patch, to properly design an mmr rating for a game with massive variables and rng elements.
-
@Alice_pbg said:
because your mmr is irrelevant. as long as you are getting good matches, why would it matter?
giving it a number will just make people go "look at this mess". and they will go "look at this mess" with ANY number showing, because people just want stuff to complain about.
MMR is absolutely relevant especially when it works, because then you can have faith and trust in the system working, 2 things many people rightly have almost none of in BHVR because of many past bugs, and design decisions that have plagued the game.
If your scores are all matched up correctly and you still had an awful match then there's something to be learned there, vice versa if the scores are all over the place but the game was evenly matched then there's something to be learned there as well.
Not showing MMR score only tells me BHVR has no confidence in their own system to work properly not too mention it gives people zero reason to try and get better at the game. Rank 1 was at least somewhat of a goal to reach before that even casual as ######### players can go for. Now there's nothing but a minute amount bloodpoints every month.
-
Honestly my games have been easier since it released. Queue times that are like triple the old times but easier matches so I dont get it, somehow they seemed to have released and even more variable system then the previous one.
-
So far he's like top of bottom tier to bottom of middle tier for me, not very good but not unplayably bad either.
-
My games have gotten consistently easier somehow, but yeah my queues have been like triple they were before.
-
Well she has been bugged the last couple months or so, might have something to do with it.

@Crowman said:
People keep saying they are going to quit over tunneling, camping, or slugging but it hasn't happened yet.
Killers need tools to be able to kill you so cry more.
I mean tbf the ones who do quit probably don't come back to the forums or any other online dbd community so unless you know them personally you probably wouldn't notice them leaving. Veteran players leave all the time some com back some never do. But the game has a constant influx of new players to offset it so the player numbers don't drop and have actually been growing on average.
-
Dead and gone hopefully, every realm beyond rework made me hate the maps they change more or like them less. Id vastly prefer the previous textures to get rid of the changes they made to each map.

well every time I play him it bugs out and I get dc'd so idk even know how to really play him yet

It's not a calendar year, we were referring to the 5th year of the game. And we mentioned the keys with the mori changes.
Oh goodie so we can expect it to take upwards of at least 6 to maybe even 12 months thanks for the clarification, to an issue thats been a massive sticking point for years now.

The thing is there is no right answer. Take the average and people will abuse that, take the highest and they will have no fun.
Scenario highest: i have seen people use smurfs to play with their friends bc otherwise they dont want to play together. Or new people quitting when their experienced friend showed them the game.
Average is probably more fun without ill intent, but thats DbD. Focussing the weak link or triggering the killer as strongest survivor are common tactics.
So honestly i couldnt care less.
So basically what I've already said but I'd need to see a quote otherwise I'd have to think it's just his own speculation as I highly doubt he's privy to info the rest of us aren't.
-
@TicTac said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2473648#Comment_2473648
And thats not even half of the questions.
well broadly for killer it depends heavily on the killer since some killers have absurdly strong addons like blight or spirit where as some killers like nemesis has fairly meh addons at best. For survivors it will depend on how many of them bring a strong item like a med kit or a key. Just one strong item isnt gonna vastly change the course of a game but 4 can absolutely massively change the outcome. So in the extremes of both cases then they can carry you pretty heavily.
-
@Milo said:
Sorry, but in what situations would this actually apply?
2 survivors being slugged and 1 survivor rescuing both of them within 10 seconds via flashlight or head on?
It would only apply in very few situations but if 2 lockers are right next each other and there aren't any walls behind the lockers then 2 survivors can flashlight save each other until their flashlights run out.
-
You would think that right before implementing a full system based around skill and performance they would at least tell us what a damn win is
-
I don't use addons on my mains, I also generally use off meta but decent perks so probably not a lot
-
Its definitely gotten pretty stale that's for sure
