Well when mmr comes into play you won't be able to see yours or their mmr score so if you get stomped then you cant complain about rainbow ranks anymore regardless of actual skill level. You will never know because bhvr doesn't want you to know how bad their system is.
-
Bring back? They never got rid of it.
-
It censored "man" on me once because I said c'mon man. Also the obvious random censorship of the games own characters.
-
No unless it was only that gens regressed faster after you've kicked them and that should probably just be a different perk.
-
######### trapper, like legit I just never look down or have magnets on my feet. I'm that idiot in trapper montages that steps in the same trap 3 times.
-
Id say the bigger issue is map design, most maps are too big to pressure properly for the majority of the killer cast so if the survivors spawn all split up or split up themselves you are almost garunteed to lose at least a gen or 2 before you hook your first or second survivor.
-
Huh never even considered it would work on his box. Thats actually a pretty interesting synergy.
-
I still think oni's is my favorite but pinhead is definitely not far behind.
-
That's not situational at all, 30 seconds in chase may not be nothing but its certainly not uncommon that would automatically become the best survivor perk in the game for survivors and would basically turn many loops in the game into infinites, which is not a good thing.
-
Okay well barring the fact your post is clearly a rage post after getting Molly wopped by noed or devour, the immediate downside is that the totem can be broken within 30 seconds of the match and be useless the rest of the match. Are they powerful? yes, without a doubt they can be strong but they have to be for their immense downside otherwise they just wouldn't be worth running, ever.
So the other major thing is undying, which is also quite strong but you also have to remember that there are 3 very good anti totem perks in the game, so if you hate hex perks so much consider incorporating small game, counterforce, and or detectives hunch into your builds maybe even run a map.
The only hex perk I think actually needs a rework(other then the few fairly useless ones that just need buffs) is noed, and not even because I think its that good, for hex perk its absurdly situational, you pretty rarely actually get really good value out of it and serves as more of just a crutch perk that feels good(though it certainly doesn't feel good to go against, especially in solo).
-
Not really, we got 2 survivors last chapter so thats fine and the ive hated almost every map they've added since I started playing over 2 years ago other then maybe sanctum of wrath.
-
yeah that's normal and I dont see how you that's "through the wall" his shred has a decent sized hitbox. I also dont know what your plan there was.
-
I really can't see why many of the outfits are linked. I like to play devils advocate sometimes as it helps me see others perspective even if I know I dont agree with them but I legit couldn't find a reason why sets all have to be linked, like killers linked sets should all have the weapon unlinked and for many of the survivors sets the head has no right being linked. The only reason I can legit think of is bhvr cant unlink them code wise and if that's the case (and Im not saying that is) they must be some of the most incompetent game devs in the industry.
The more likely option is just that they don't care enough to unlink it.

Looking at all the replies, are these the same killers that complain that survivors are ToXiC? That's the best example that killer community is the most toxic one in this game, swarming over anyone who's opinion they don't agree with and troll him/her. That's disgusting.
there were 3 other comments when you posted this and none were particularly inflammatory, 2 of which even agreed to varying degrees, so unless comments were deleted, I have no idea where this is coming from. Honestly sounds more like you're creating a problem just to get mad at a group of people you don't like. Now that's disgusting

If she is pressuring gens, she is not camping.
I love how Survivors are now saying a Killer can camp AND do what Survivors want (pressuring gens) at the same time. It's almost like they call anything 'camping' in order to complain.
well for one I don't play much survivor and how do you not understand how a killer can teleport can pressure multiple places at once. You can pressure the gens around basement its not that hard to understand, sure the survivors can do the gens not near basement but then they are likely to have to deal with a 3 gen, and she can camp more then just basement its just basement makes it a lot easier for her to do so.
It's a well known fact that hag is one of the best proxy campers in the game along with twins and her basement game is probably even more scary then twins. I don't think hag is broken by any means, she's very strong though, and its kind of dumb she can put traps so close to hook when camping and tunneling is easily the 2 most complained about problems survivors have.
-
Pyramid head or demo imo
-
yes if you use a perk incorrectly it wont perform as well, honestly I wish they'd just take out the immunity frames so people don't get the wrong idea of how its supposed to be used.

You can let her camp, use the time to do gens, escape the trial.
but she can camp while pressuring gens, what part did you not understand about that from my previous messages
-
All but one of which you have to know who the killer is before hand to be proper counters and you cant lure away a hag who's determined to camp
-
@Emeal said:
The Trap only gets triggered if the person who gets off the hook is walking/running.
The Hag is only good cause Survivors hate to crouch.
The problem is the hag can just camp from 30 meters out and as soon as someone gets unhooked she can just go back to hook and she'll get a hit pretty much no matter what if the survivor didn't have a flashlight

Being a high-skill killer doesn't mean you get to obliterate everyone once you master said skill. His flick was uncounterable, and while Blight is able to flick like him, it's not a one-shot.
Yes, he was for many the most fun killer to face, but his nerf was deserved. What I don't understand is why they nerfed him when Nurse is much worse in this regard, being able to score easy 4ks after being mastered.
He had counter play though, you had to mind game to land a saw on a good survivor at a jungle gym or any window and Billy's flick is nowhere near as controllable as blight's, I went to blight after Billy and he's been my main ever since.
Blight's rush is magnitudes easier to land and admittedly its not a one shot but even without it its still probably stronger then even old Billy base kit and he has his own absolutely bonkers addons (namely alchemist ring), his nerf was in no way deserved since yeah he could stomp players if they killer was better then the survivors but that's how it should be.
Insta saw brought up his skill floor immensely though and definitely needed a nerf but his base kit was about as close to balanced as bhvr has ever been and with overheat and the changing of some of his not broken but good addons into basically useless addons has really brought down his fun factor below what, seemingly, most find to be worth the effort, too the point where barely anyone plays him which is an absolute travesty imo.
-
Absolutely not, its not even weak people just use it poorly
-
Im not even surprised at this point
-
@Razorbeam said:
More than anything hillbilly just needs all of his animations completely redone, he's a buggy mess that everyone seems to afraid to touch because he just about works.
I used to 1 trick main him, he's all I played when I first really got into killer and although I still think he's a good killer he's not nearly as much fun as before (and no I didn't use insta saw outside of literally just testing it out once and realizing how absolutely busted it was). That along with killers like blight, buffed wraith, and reworked bubba he just slipped by the way side and I barely play him anymore and almost never see him played while survivor.
-
@Brhoom said:
Hillbilly %100 deserved the nerf.
New players still play him the same way they did before, it's the red rank killers who are complaining they can't get insta downs all the time.
Oh no, a high skill high reward killer that was fun to play but had legitimate counter play and by the devs own admission the better player usually came out on top in chases with Billy. Was insta saw or crack billy too much? absolutely but overheat and his other nerfs were super unnecessary and really only served to make him less fun to play and turn him into a unicorn of a killer
-
If this chapter is another ######### show then im probably gonna take a break till the next chapter and if that one is also bad then that's it for me

Twins is the last killer I have to buy honestly not even worth 9k shards
I wanted oppression thats it. Coup cam be kind of fun too. Also wanted to see if I'd hate them as much as I did on the ptb, and I did.

natually all killers are unfun to play against to some survivor out there so I tend to ignore this argument.
but if the killer is unfun to play as then something is wrong
I feel like twins is one of the most hated killers to play against from everything I've seen online, up there with spirit and deathslinger, theyre just way less common and at least their games are usually shorter since they tend to 4 man slug anyways.
Edit-Also i find twins to be tied for my least favorite killer to play as well so overall I wish they'd both be deleted. I wouldn't even ask for the shards i spent on them back i just want them gone.
-
I main only a few killers and honestly the sbmm doesn't feel really any different then the normal one, I have some really ######### games where I feel like I'm playing toddlers or seal team six. Survivor side has been remarkably harder though not sure if better killers or worse teammates cause ill run a killer for 3 gens then get camped till death with only 1 more gen popping so idk.
-
Yeah that seems about right, this is why I want transparency regarding SBMM instead of some stupid invisible score which only bhvr knows anything about and we should just trust them to do a good job, because they have such a good track record with matchmaking.
-
@humanbeing1704 said:
Hasn't twins been considered unfun to play since their ptb lol
For many yes, and unfun to play against.

Oh no, one less twins player, oh the horror.

I think player dcs in the loading screen cause of different reasons. Both sides expect a difficult match if the other side drops specific offerings and both sides don’t like to deal with them.
survior dcs:
- mori
- lerrys or the game, cause it’s mostly mirror myers, doctor or legion
- black ward
killer dcs:
- haddonfield
- corn maps/ red forest
- reduce hookspawn (and saw toolboxes in the lobby
both sides dcs:
- no bloodpointofferings during the events
- rpd
Never heard of someone dcing for hookspawns since they changed how saboing works but if there's 4 I could understand it. But yeah I dont see how OP can expect people to play a forced map when they may really hate that map cause lets be honest people rarely use MacMillan bones or azoraths keys unless they are fed up with getting indoor matches.

You honestly shouldn't even be giving the dude a foot to stand on saying ah just let it go in the video game.
No this ######### is why we still have people being divided over the dumbest ######### ######### ever. I'm sick of people like Mr. Fresh Account with not even 10 post clearly made the account to spread bs or troll. Don't say it's only okay in just video games it's a ######### hair cut. I bet OP only knows very little history about the hairstyle and just came on the forums to racebait.
Let's say we humor OP - Okay what happens then?
Does every race start slowly taking things away from other races if they didn't invent them or if it didn't originate from their culture or history? Do you know how bad that would be and stupid? This is the mindset OP has. It's not even thoughtful discussion it's just "white girl have hairstyle bad" and they even say that in one of their post. Such a tasteless thing to even give a foot to stand on. You give these people an inch and they take a mile. They're not worth giving a platform because they misrepresent everyone else.
You think I'd want someone like OP representing me as a gay person? Imagine someone coming on the forums and being all like straight survivors / killers shouldn't have access to this charm.
And again to clarify and it's nothing personal but when you said "if you got a problem with it in real life then fine"
Don't enable this dude - If he's genuine saying stuff like that just enables them.
Culture is meant to be shared anyone who doesn't think this wants their culture to die. And to be clear there is a massive difference between sharing or appreciation of a culture and mocking it(which is pretty much never okay).

@Razorbeam said:
I hope whoever the person is promoting this idea with fog whisper badge on their stream in those pictures lose their fw status for race baiting.
Why would they lose their fw status for something literally in the game? How does that make sense in any fashion?
-
Because they haven't added any good content besides a few perks in almost a year. Even if you liked every chapter this year you have to admit that all of them have been at best controversial. Haven't had a well received chapter since blight so the games been incredibly stale for me for awhile and if this chapter isn't at least as good as descend beyond i think thats it for me and this game for at least the next 3 to 4 months.
At least thats why the game is boring as hell for me lately.
-
Yeah I honestly don't think map offerings should be a thing anyways so idc. I'm not gonna support bhvrs horrible map design by allowing myself to be brought to these maps.
-
Still not amazing honestly but certainly more powerful then before but they went in the direction everyone thought was a bad idea and low and behold hes very unfun to go against and still isn't that strong so.

Dick measurement is the most important thing about this idea for me tbh. I want to know if I am trash at the game, or mediocre, or actually good, and also that I am better than that guy in my lobby. Or worse.
Regarding this system working or not - nothing will be worse than ranking system, so whatever. I am playing a game where matchmaking is purely random and it is still fun. So that's what is the most important - if you have fun or not.
For all we know the SBMM is just the same basic system, but hidden, with the complete lack of transparency we will have no idea what the game even considers a win or a loss and what it will take into account to determine your skill.

If that's happening, you need to let the devs know so that they can look into it and figure out the reason. How do you expect to figure out what's going on if:
- You have no access to the algorithm.
- Even if you did, you don't have access to those players' trials, how they went, etc.
Well from my own scores and what other peoples score in the matches that were extremely one sided, and even if I have no access to the algorithm I'd have access to the outcomes of the algorithm namely MY OWN F*CKING SCORE
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2422351#Comment_2422351
Nope, that just means that the players' MMR needs to be adjusted, which the algorithm will do on its own and you have no way of knowing unless you stalk those players.
And if its happening consistently to a large amount players what then? and how will people know where they are skill wise, how will people even know if they are getting better and not just getting placed with people who are worse and worse. So again my whole concern is that I have zero trust with bhvr's ability to make a well functioning mmr and so the score being visible gives it a large amount of transparency

You should notice it, by having a more enjoyable and fun experience. Not just stomping new players or getting stomped by vets.
And when it doesnt go well.. we'll just have a thumb up our *ss with no idea why it's happening, since I know this is only from personal experience but my games have barely changed at all since it started still just as 4 out or 4k as before with survivors either being all extremely competent or not understanding that wraith can pick people out of lockers while cloaked
-
@Tsulan said:

It has to stay hidden or people would find out how it works and manipulate it.
For example, the Victory Cube was an attempt of a different rank system. Once people figured out that 2 kills and 1 hook is a guaranteed pip, they started to camp the first survivor they found. Simply because those 2 kills + 1 hook were more important pip wise, than for example getting 8 hooks and 0 kills.
Okay that's an example of a bad matchmaking system, how will we know if the current system isn't just as bad as that if we don't know how the system works and if they've made a good system it shouldn't be so easily and widely abusable
-
@Bumbus said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2422325#Comment_2422325
They won't show MMR directly so people can't abuse their system, but they could consider some indirect indication for the purpose of penis length measurement. In Starcraft 2 there is a league system: Bronze league, Silver league, Golden league, Diamond league, etc., which depends on your MMR. BHVR could implement something like that: you see your league, but don't see your exact rating.
its not just a dick measuring contest, it's also a matter of being able to determine if their system even works properly isn't just as bad as the current system. Another thing is a feeling of skill progression and actually having a numerical value to show you getting better at the game. Also a well made system shouldn't be so easily abusable and if it is then players should know so that they can actually give proper feedback since let's be honest the BHVR testing team doesn't have the best track record.
-
@FFirebrandd said:
There's 3 big reasons why SBMM scores should remain hidden.
- Elitism. Give players any kind of number at all, and they'll lord it over other players who have a smaller number than they do.
- Playing for the number. It doesn't matter how well your ranking system is designed, people are going to do their best to reverse engineer the system. Once that happens, at least some players will change how they play solely to get better numbers. Occasionally this will result in some very very divergent play styles that aren't good for the game.
- Stress. For at least some players, having their ranking number visible is stressful. Having it go down doesn't feel good and having it lower than you want it to be also doesn't feel good. Players who are stressed and on edge are much more likely to lash out at either their teammates or their opposition for real or perceived acts of sabotage towards them having a good match.
None of those things are things you want in a noncompetitive game like DBD. So... they're keeping it hidden. Which is the right call.
Okay, firstly I already addressed that in my original post and it covers 3 as well, who the f*ck cares so deeply about what rank you are?. The only reason I want to know is to see if I or others are actually being put up against people their skill levels, if someone cares so much about their rank they're gonna play sweaty anyways and if the system is good then it wouldn't reward playstyles that actively hurt the game. People that stressed out shouldn't be playing a multiplayer game in the first place and is no excuse to hide such an important score.
if knowing the score would be so damaging then the score shouldn't be implemented in the first place.
-
@Orion said:

Because then we'd be able to correlate when our score rises or dipped based on how our games went
Literally what the devs don't want, as has already been said multiple times.
as well seeing whether or not matchmaking is actually working as intended and we are being matched with people are skill level
Stop looking at numbers for that, focus on how the trials are going.
IF THE SCORES ARE MISMATCHED AS ######### AND THE MATCH GOES WELL THEN THE SCORE ISNT WORKING, VICE VERSA. Jesus f*cking Christ I have zero trust BHVR will make a good system and I don't trust them with some invisible score, imagine if current ranks were always kept hidden then we probably wouldn't be even getting this new matchmaking. Why is it so hard to understand that.
-
@Tsulan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2422286#Comment_2422286
What would you want to do with that? It´s probably some kind of abstract score that only the algorythm understands.
Because then we'd be able to correlate when our score rises or dipped based on how our games went as well as compare our scores with the rest of the community to get a general understanding of where we are skill wise as well seeing whether or not matchmaking is actually working as intended and we are being matched with people are skill level. There are a myriad of reasons why I'd want to know how my skill is being rated since that along with map RNG will likely be the 2 largest factors determining if I have fun in that match as well as whether I'm likely to win or not.
-
@Mandy said:

not in the slightest. As previously explained in this thread ranks are hidden purely to get feedback on what's actually happening in a match.
Rightly or wrongly people perceive ranks as an indication of skill in DbD, but it's really a very minor thing - Rank is mostly to do with time invested which doesn't correlate with skill. So in order to get feedback and not have "SBMM doesn't work because my match was full of rainbow ranks", the ranks have been hidden for the test.
The thread is supposed to be about the SBMM scores which I believe the devs plan to keep secret, or at least that was my original intention.
-
@Tsulan said:
The ranks are hidden during this SBMM Test, because people used to complain about the ranks they were matched against. Despite the fact that the devs said ranks don´t matter.
Also ranks as we know them, will be completely removed (once the SBMM goes live) and replaced by a system that resets your "rank" each month to 20 and awards you for the "rank" that you reached that month. Ranks will simply be a measure of how much you played each month. Therefore there is no point in showing them.
Im not talking about the color ranks I'm talking about the SBMM score
