Oh man that sucks. I try to avoid them in chases anyway so I don't tend to try to run too close to them.
Guess I'll be staying strictly to the left side if I need to go up one.

So, dead by daylight has recently added crossplay; hence meaning console players now play with keyboard and mouse players, so... where is console keyboard and mouse support? This doesn’t really do anything when I’m playing killer, but when I, a survivor main goes against a pc killer there is huge disadvantage. And when I turn crossplay off there’s not a single game I can find.
If you disagree with me, please let me know.
They've already said no. Only game with cross platform versus I've ever seen where they've acknowledge the imbalance and just said 'meh'.

How is him constantly able to facecamp and never overheat balanced he can facecamp and wipe q entire team because it won't overheat this way a survivor has a chance at a rescue because they can bait the bubba to overheat rn you cannot
Do. Gens. Goddamn. If he wants to facecamp leave him to it. He'll lose map pressure, most likely the whole match. And he'll be penalised by the emblems system.

This was suprisingly hard to narrow down. I couldn't get it to an exact split.
My reasoning here is that I wanted to keep the killers that I feel have the most unique mechanics between them.
Clown, for example, is cut for being an underwhelming derivative of Huntress. Ghost face, Leatherface and Freddy for just feeling like lazy compromises of existing killers. Wraith I couldn't justify keeping with Micheal and Pig, he might be OG but they're both to much fun to even consider.
Legion because that Power was a mistake and if there weren't a DC penalty I'd head out of any game where I see that godddamn deep wound timer 30 seconds in.
Obviously IRL I wouldn't want any cut. I like all of their powers to a degree (not Legion, the outfits are cool). Also was anyone else suprised by just how many there are now? lol
EDIT: Just realised after posting that my template didn't have Pyramid Head. He'd almost definitely be in the top list.

Lets be sincere Haddonfield is a map that is pretty much GG for killer especially long and minimum 3 gens are on houses plus some houses are nasty "infinites" What if devs change it to Michael Myers psiquiatrics something like lerys but more based on films with their respective psiquiatric rooms and such
Honestly I think just removing the random generation factor to those awful, awful fences would go a long way. There's also the 2 story, underground house thats an infinite against some 110% killers.
-
It should just be sacrifice 4 survivors on one game. Might encourage some scummy play. But it'll bring the difficulty of them closer in line with the, quite frankly, stupidly easy survivor ones.
-
How does it work? I've been actively avoiding them unless absolutely necessary. Had to free a few players as killer and let them wiggle free/give a headstart or else I feel like a scrub.

Get a "merciless victory" in rank 1 as a killer is a pain in the back, especially because some killers' perks are so useless and get 12 hooks is not that easy when 2-3 gens pop once you hook someone. seriously devs, what were u thinking when you created these achievements? didn't you think about the red rank players?
Used to be you could just throw an ebony mori on. I don't really bother with the adepts anymore. Most of the killers perks just don't appeal to me, or don't give the breathing needed for a 2 pip game in low ranks.
-
That when people state that easy to decimate killers can be just as unfun, if not more to play against than a no counterplay high tier killer it just gets ignored.
I detest playing against Spirit and Deathslinger because I know I'm probably going to have a dull match because of the lack of interaction in chases and knowing that every outcome will be decided by a one sided guess. But winning/losing to those two isn't enough to make me put the game down and play something else. Playing against a slowdown Legion or NOED Clown is, for example.
The worst part? I love playing Clown even though he's trash. All these killers are incerdibly fun to play... for the killer. But he's boring to play against.
I LOVE playing against Billy, Oni and Hag and I find them to actually be a threat instead of a bore. Heck, Oni's roar when activating his power alone is enough to spook me off gens.
These are all strong killers, some of which counter loops but add new gameplay into them (focusing on healing to avoid spawning too many blood orbs and mindgaming if the Oni knows his loop setups, keeping track of pallets and dead zones to not end up in a area where billy can get a chainsaw off and paying attention to where he may be from chainsaw noises, crouching through high traffic areas and near hooks to avoid giving Hag her mobility). These killers are great because a survivors skill outside of holding W and praying that the killer misses his shot, or throwing down a pallet and hoping Spirits phase is almost run out so she can't get round, can actually affect an outcome of the chase. This doesn't mean getting the W and escaping every time like some seem to think it implies. I see people on here seem to imply that a survivor should never be able to win a chase which is ridicolous, usually saying "But 4V1" as if that means anything.
With Spirit either she has Stridor (you'll lose the chase) or she doesn't (you'll lose the chase unless you have IW) . With Deathslinger or Pyramid Head you don't juke, they miss.
This is why I'm actually quite hyped for the Blight. I enjoy killers where I know I outplayed the survivor 1-to-1 be it through mindgaming at a pallet, guessing a dead hard or just by mastering the power. Not winning because the survivor was forced into a lose/lose situation because I spammed ADS as Deathslinger/Punishment of the damned near a window or a one sided guess that had no way out.
I don't dislike (and I assume this is the case for many others) that I can't just loop Spirit/DS/PH and win. I find looping incredibly boring as do most. This is a strawman argument used by people un-interested in an actual debate.
Unfortunately with the constant nerfing to stealth its the most viable strategy when working in a team and the devs have made it clear its here to stay.
But when you have a killer that can so strongly counter this existing play style, whilst not adding anything new inbetween (Deathslinger ['just dont get hit by the unreactable shot 4head' isn't counterplay] and Pyramid Head), or worse, removing this and replacing it with pure RNG (for the survivor, the spirit will always know where you are 100% of the time if they know how to play)), you create major balance issues.
Huntress is an incredibly strong killer, but she's fair (base kit anyway). Outside of obvious server lag, I've never felt cheated when losing to a Huntress. I know that I lost because I got outplayed.
The worst thing about that for Spirit is the 'counterplay' is an actual hard counter to her entire power. A single perk that can remove her entire viability, especially with how buggy other sounds are. It's bad design. Spirits HAVE to use Stridor at low ranks because it's a very good/meta perk or they're intentionally limiting themselves.
Personally I'd like to see Spirit be reworked to a point where she doesn't live or die depending on if she bets on the survivor having/not having Iron Will. Her actual phasing part of her power I like a lot. I have no clue how I'd fix PHs projectile or Deathslinger as a whole. Perhaps just make Pyramid Head have to commit more to dropping his sword to prevent spamming M2 to get a free pallet drop/vault AND hit.
This is probably the most extensively I've written about my opinion on this matter. I hope it isn't too rambling or unclear.

Despite trying to have a positive chat and community I feel like Tru3 constant complaining about every little thing and doing what you say harms the community and player feedback, at least for in regards to his viewers. This is the man who claims every time he lunges early and misses he complains about dead hard, or if he gets outplayed complains about stream sniping.

Its because Deathslinger has possible outplay potential at loops and during transition of tilesets. If you give ussylis a classic map such as Bloodlodge and you pick a ordinary M1 killer such as Myers and you ask him to loop Myers for as long as possible with the rule that if Myers gets bloodlust 1, he has to break the pallet, He can probably loop Myers for 3-5 minutes, In fact every good survivor can. Myers and every M1 killer can be beaten in a single chase. The only reason it does not happen is human error and that is ok because the game does not require survivor to win in a single chase.
The idea that survivors have the capacity to 1vs1 the killer and the expectancy to do so is already an extreme entitlement in itself. Its because survivors are conditioned to face weak killers in a chase so when a killer has strong/decent chase capacity, its like a shock. The reason why nobody offers to go in custom game to "show deathslinger counter-play" is because its stupid. Suppose someone does accept and they loop you for 60 seconds, that in itself is counter-play. If you include fact that the killer needs to search for the survivor to enter a chase and extra require to put a survivor on a hook, that is like 3 gens right there. Survivors are not meant to go from 0 to 5 gens instantly, Killers don't go from 0 to 12 hooks instantly either. they have to work for it. small chase after small chase, little by little, gens gets done. same thing for hooks, little by little, survivors die.
The clip itself shows counter-play. Deathslinger weapon isn't hitscan, past 10-18 meters, you to have lead your shots and predict survivors movement to slide into them. The counter-play is hard but its definitely there. There's also this idea that killers that have strong 1vs1 are "Unhealthy". Arguably speaking the only tool that a killer really needs to win is strong 1vs1 and a tool to contest loops. Map mobility, Stealth, Aura-reading, Instant down are very indirect forms to power up the killer and frankly speaking they aren't very useful by themselves. I am not saying that its impossible win with these tools but they certainly aren't very direct or obvious to win with and they often have large exploitable pitfalls and shortcomings which is why they're often very low on killer tier-lists.
Oh god this stance again. No. Having a strong 1v1 is not 'unhealthy for the game'. Billy, Nurse, Huntress, Oni, Freddy, Hag, even Demo on the majority of maps. All killers with extremely strong 1V1 gameplay. Difference? A survivor with enough experience can play around TO A DEGREE <(important part) they can't counter the entire power through just normal gameplay (or perks and items, hopefully) but they have a chance to show their skills and knowledge in return and potentially outplay the killer if the killer slips up.
Problem with newer killers sans Oni and potentially Blight (we'll see how Live goes) is that they're removing potential counterplay without replacing it with anything new. Giving the survivors extremely low chances if any, to counterplay them at all. This leads to short chases where the survivor may as well run in a straight line for all the good it can do.
-
@UnbeatableAsh said:
The problem with slinger is that the outcome of the chase is determined, in large part, by their skill, and effectively doesn't factor in that of the survivor. There are worse offenders in this regard, like Huntress, but there's just so many slingers on my servers. It ain't a hoot.
This is pretty much my stance. As a survivor I want the skills I've built up in my time playing to at least factor into a chase in a small way, just like they do when I'm killer, although obviously in a less effective way. Even if its just a few extra seconds on the run before going down. Problem is that unless I have an exhaustion perk against Deathslinger, especially if its a free first hit stealth slinger, that is entirely determined by if the Deathslinger has even played an FPS before or not.
At least with Huntress I know shes charging a hatchet so I can attempt to dodge it. Wish Deathslinger he can fire with a pre-aim literally 1 frame after raising his gun. No human can react to that. If you did it was random luck.

There is very little skill in playing survivor. If you know the tiles, you’re golden.
I'd argue that mindgaming at loops and being able to use LOS to your advantage to be unpredictable is a pretty vital skill for survivor at high level, theres also being able to predict lunges and 360s which is pretty hard against a good killer and is entirely physical skill. Most of the killers (specifically M1 killers) don't require any skill outside of basic knowledge of loops and mechanics (like survivors) that apply to all killers. It's only when you get to the killers like Huntress or Nurse, Oni and Billy where physical skills aswell as knowledge about their unique mechanics come into play.

I’ve been mixing up my builds lately and one of my new favorite perks is tinkerer. Does anyone else use it, which killer does it help you most on, any tricks to use it better?
I think the killer who may benefit most is Bubba as if you’re near the gen that goes to 70% you can make it over using LoS blockers and land an easy chainsaw. Billy could in theory do this with his one silent addon too I guess.
Of course sneaking up on gens is fun, I’ve even managed to grabbed a few people and should have even more if not for dedicated servers.
And randomly going undetectable mid chase or while walking had earned me easy free hits.
As survivor has anyone caught you just because of tinkerer?

Legion needs a full rework he's way too weak. Also really boring to verse.
I've given up hope that we'll get a satisfactory Legion rework at this point. They seem dead set on forcing him to get looped to hell and back, and forcing survivors to fill EVEN MORE boring progress bars.
Also proves the point that killers aren't "boring" for survivors because they're powerful. It's when they're poorly designed.
I don't ragequit matches often, if ever. But when I see its a legion I struggle to bring myself to play. Moreso than any killer.

They should have to earn it by fighting an uphill battle instead if it being given for free..but if that's how you want to translate it..sorry I have common sense
There's fighting an uphill battle (this is every other killer except clown and legion because they suck and are in dire need of reworks) then there's literally praying to RNG that the guy with all the tools somehow makes a mistake (the other 3). It's like having a 1v1 sword duel with a man who is completely invisible. My two cents.
Then there's the idea that "if you escaped by pure luck (their screw up) is it even earned?"

I wouldn't say reasonable (who is on this forum?). I've just played enough of both sides at this point to be (almost) impartial on these things. More people should try it. Too many people jump to conclusions on here without hearing out both sides of an arguament.
Some people just don't want a character they like getting 'nerfed' even if its healthier for the game long term. You can't blame them for getting upset about it, it sucks when it happens to something you like and have invested time and money into.

Billy got his nerf and the dust has not even settled and now we have a ton of deathslinger nerf threads already?
What should this?
Imo, every nerf of a killer, or a survivor abilitie makes the game more boring.
Do some people really prefer a dangerous free match, where the biggest problem are the skill checks on a gen?
I watching this pattern already more as a year in this forums and I still have never get how nerfs have make the game better.
Guys who cry for nerfs, rob theirself for good and exciting matches imo.
Maybe I am alone with this but to nerf everything is the wrong way. This makes a game boring.
And before someone comes with this up... No I am not a deathslinger main. I have not even bought the dlc.
I have this thread write to wake maybe the one or other guy up.
You're acting like people haven't been complaning about Spirit/Deathslinger since their release. The criticism was always there on youtube discussions and other places. Its just reached the main forums now. Heck people were saying deathslinger was boring here day 1.
Imo deathslingerrs problem isnt his ACTUAL power, its like Pyramid Head. The ability for free zoning by simply tapping power and letting go.

Thats the thing, survivors expect to be able to 1v1 every single killer otherwise the killer is "boring" to play against.
The problem with making them a one sided guessing game is it removes the 'meaningful interaction' that the devs claim chases are about. The survivor may as well run in a straight line for all the good it does against a killer whose only counter is their own (potential) lack of skill.
You don't dodge/counter deathslinger or PH, THEY miss you. You don't hide from a stridor spirit, if she phases near and doesn't hear you its becase SHE wasn't paying enough attention.
I've said it before but jsut saying "but its a 1v4" doesn't excuse this as many other killers prove. They can be both strong and fun for both sides.
Chase centric powers should not remove existing counterplay if they don't add anything new. That just encourages the 'genrush' people are complaining about further.
-
I'd add to not chase a survivor thats obviously trying to bait you to a place with no gens left or is a pallet town.
-
People keep bringing this up as if it means anything. Are all the killers with actual counterplay in the 1v1 now bad because you said this? No.
Billy is still high tier (even with that dumbass power bar thing). As is Oni, Hag and many others. Even Nurse can be countered in the 1v1.
Do you think every chase should just be the survivor running in a straight line and going down because "muh 1v4"?

@gatsby said:
The counterplay to Deathslinger, Pyramid Head and Spirit relies on the player making mistakes. It has very little to do with the Survivor's actual skill. At maximum skill, the counterplay to these Killers basically goes away.
As a Red Rank Survivor, I can immediately tell if I'm going against a Rank 1 Deathslinger or like a Rank 6, because if you're able to counterplay them. It's a sign they're not as good. A truly top tier Deathslinger/Spirit/Pyramid Head won't let you loop them, will pretty much ignore pallets and will hit though jukes and mindgames that normally work somewhat reliably. Pretty much the only thing that works is your exhaustion perks and running early to delay the first hit as long as possible.
I heard Scott Jund hit the nail on the head in regards to Deathslinger. "You don't juke him, he misses you". And this also applies to punishment of the damned. I love PH and DS. But I don't play them as much anymore as they're so flowchart. Every chase is the same.

@immortalls96 said:
So it's only important because he looks weak right now..gotcha
He isn't though, that's the thing. He definitely has potential to be high tier with bug fixes/hitbox fixes. The good thing is that we're getting another killer that isn't just "run away until you inevitably go down/have zero gameplay counter to their power" like Freddy (to most people, I personally just think he got over-buffed slighlty with all his systems)/Spirit/Pyramid Head.
When I go down to a Billy I have fun and I usually go "damn he got me, this guys good." When I go down to a Spirit or Pyramid head its "wow, this guy has stridor, or wow this guys really good at spamming his auto win projectile at every pallet/vault"
Survivors can actually have their own skill affect the outcome of the chase again (for some godforsaken reason, a vocal minority of killers on this forum think thats a bad thing). Like with Oni (who is extremely strong and arguably top 3, people don't hate him because he is fun for both sides and has counterplay).
I look forward to both playing as and against this killer. He looks extrmely fun.

Gonna blow your minds here. The reason Spirit is so incredibly dumb as a deign is because:
Without either Iron Will or Stridor in play she is overwhelmingly strong with little to no counterplay.
With Iron Will in play she becomes absolutely worthless thanks to bugged survivor footsteps/breathing just not playing sometimes
With both perks in play she is still overwhelmingly strong with little to no counter play... IF she has headphones. If not you'll only be finding Jane players.
A killers viability should not be decided by perks.

That's rough. No idea who you're talking about but wish them the best.

For a Hex perk, its strength is fairly low. 16 m isn't really much at all. The survivor is almost able to run 16 m in the time it takes for you to recover from a hit, so they would be out of that range shortly after you have recovered. It also only blocks pallets, so they still have access to windows to stall for the 15 seconds of pallet blocking. Its effect seems so minor yet it's a Hex perk, which lets it be cleansed. It could easily get no value in the time in the time it has before it is cleansed. I only see this perk being useful on specific maps where there is an upstairs and downstairs or when there are multiple survivors nearby.
If it becomes popular it might finally encourage bad survivors to stop wasting their speed boost just running around the pallet they were already at

With the team member count being at an all time high, and other online games with bigger maps, more players and systems and much shorter life spans being made by smaller teams having better optimisation its hard to defend at this point.

I think some of the Legendary cosmetics look great! Nea's graffiti artist and Oni's minotaur outfit primarily.
But most of these Greek legenda ones like David, Jane and Yui really don't need to be tied together. Janes dress maybe due to clipping issues.

2.5 years of continous playing and the anniversary gave me the push to get all the killers to level 50 (haven't gotten them all perks on each though yet) with the new content my friends were thinking of playing the game themselves after seeing how i played with some of my killers with my perks. I told them itd probably take months for them to even get in a good area though with how the grind is now adays especially with another killer and survivor soon hitting the game. Idk the exact math to do everything in this game but i know its insane. Even if i just go to the survivors and rush for the 4 meta perks and just level just the killers. Its also asking the question if its even worth it (on the survivor side more than the killer side) because you have survivors like steve and quentin which you level them up and theres no real use to their perks so you don't really get your bp worth on them. Prestiging is pretty much a waste since your trippling your grind (which is why i refuse to do it). Killer side i guess the grind is kinda worth it because your getting different killers with different powers but i doubt claurophobias gonna be useful on michael myers or distressing on deathslinger. If you were asked what they could do to lessen it what would you decide? The most suggested one is to just remove tiers because survivors/killers will get the perks maxed anyway in no time and just makes it unnecessary. We do have the shrine but then your just sitting around waiting for the week a perk finally comes. Like i got 2 of neas perks through the shrine so far just waiting for streetwise (have been for a while). Just alittle vent and feeling bad for my friends since they don't know what their getting into with this game.
I decided to finally start leveling my PH. Got him to P3 50 with pretty lackluster perks. Threw another million into him and got sweet FA. The grind is getting worse and worse every chapter and while increasing perks per level was nice its practically no help when every bloodweb reaches nearly 100k each.

No right or wrong answer here, the code isn’t official because it’s different for everyone. But as survivor/killer split player I know what’s unfun and feels really unfair to each side so I try to avoid those.
As survivor I don’t teabag or clicky clicky, I feel I can get the killers attention when I want chased better by pretending to be seen when I don’t want.
I play DS a lot, especially now since cross play started, but I don’t use the locker tech and I don’t run right at the killer or do a gen in their face. I seriously try to only use it for anti tunneling.
As killer on the flip side I don’t tunnel, although if someone unhooks before I even get away then I will come back and if the savior hides but I see the unhooked player I will hit them to either slug or get BT pressure on them.
I only bring moris for rituals, eliminating a third of the game has no interest for me.
I don’t bring the most broken addons, right now basically this means Iri hatchets and the pinky finger. I very very rarely use the other super strong addons like strong freddy combos or the plagues aura reading iridescent.
Also now that MMR is gone again I will give the last survivor hatch and as survivor if it was clearly an outmatched yellow rank killer I will stick around to let him have a hook or kill.
I don't use keys or ebony/ivory moris outside of rift challenges. They feel extremely cheap and sort of defeat the purpose of why I'm playing the match.
I never hook the same survivor twice in a row. If they get in my face with DS or something then I'll slug 'em.
If one survivor has done a great job at staying alive in chases and doing gens/staying out of sight all game I'll give them the hatch or a free escape if I feel sorry for them.
If a teammate is BM'ing the killer by the gate and screws up and gets downed just out of reach of the exit I teabag them and leave them to their fate.
Oh, another! If you try to sell out a hiding teammate during a chase I'll acknowledge it and then hook and potentially camp you if I've seen you do this in the past.

So.... since Pyramid Head if a survivor comes within 5 feet of a killers POV and even so much as moves to the left or the right the fps will tank to about 3-5 fps per second
How can this happen?

Just chase them whilst invisible and decloak on them. I got it first try by just playing a normal wraith game.

I'm definitely going to give him a shot when I DL the ptb later, but he does look quite limited. Has to work really hard just for 1 hit and is very map reliant.
I want killers to have some soft counterplay but this guy seems hard countered by just hugging corners.

As it stands right now we got Deathslinger, PH the last to killers have no counterplay. The devs are most likely gonna do the same for the upcoming killer and genrushing will become even more prevalent.
The devs wont focus on survivor when they make the killers and it's obvious. They really need to make a better designed killer like oni, new bubba, billy huntress, nurse. They got to stop only thinking of one side. The game is becoming stale and very uninteresting.
It has become a worrisome trend. The worst thing is that these killers are all extremely fun to play. But strong/lacking counterplay to the point of extreme boredom for the other side.
I can only assume its due to them having so many different powers. I'd prefer they go back to a Hill billly style of power design (not including that dumb meter change). Killers who are fine at a base level but situationally strong.
