Why Ace specifically? Wouldn't someone like Claudette be better because she can hide more easily?
Ace is quiet, that said I never had problems finding hi. It's really only if you play on speakers that you won;t hear him.

Playing survivor also sucks. Unless you have a full group of friends, you just get stuck with the worst players who make the worst decisions.
On top of having crappy teammates without fail, the second you get put on a hook you will be facecamped and tunneled to death. Along with the flashlight blind changes, yeah I'm done.
So to summarize, playing killer sucks, playing survivor sucks, this game sucks. I'm done. I can't believe I spent money on this game, so much money wasted.
Solo survivor is suffering

Actually, based on my calculations, the PTB should be releasing tomorrow. There is usually approximately 80 days of interval between chapters, and it has been 62 days since the silent hill chapter released, and considering that PTBs release 3 weeks (21 days) before the game hits live servers, it would make sense that it releases tomorrow because we are reaching the 3 weeks before the PTB releases.
Oh, fair enough. I'd assumed the pandemic might've caused some delays.
-
There won't be a PTB for a while right? I mean mid chapter was only a little while ago
-
I'm only using crossplay to play with a friend on PS4. Stays off otherwise. It's not so much the control options that bother me but the major performance issues.
-
This Us VS Them mentality has to stop. It's pathetic really. I stopped console warring at 15.
-
I've never used it since the rework but I'd assume friendly perks are fine. Can't imagine many ways too make the perk less viable. Always wondered how it interacts with BBQ, if at all.

Blendette's get mercilessly tunneled. People mention it in their profiles how they tunnel em. People hate on Urban Ev. users.
I'm sorry we're not all blessed with an algorithmic god-like knowledge of the maps, every hitbox, every trick, running the dirtiest perks imaginable as a nigh untouchable SWF team.
Some of us get our kicks watching a Killer search every bush in the map, because you a blendette, did so one time, and now he's convinced you're ALWAYS hiding in a bush.
Some of us get our kicks seeing just how hard we can fuNk with the Killer and waste their time entirely.
It's a legitimate part of the game. Stop acting like it's not.
If the makers were THAT concerned they'd stop making super dark blendy cosmetics.
Stop. Hating.
Stealthy is my preferred way of playing survivor. It's a shame they've continously nerfed it as a playstyle over the years. I get why. They want interaction. But I get a bigger boost of adrenaline narrowly stealthing past a killer than I ever do from chases.

Ikr plus it can come in handy when trying to escape a killer when wounded I mean the amount of times I've baited a killer into trying to hit me only to eat a pallet it fun
I think a lot of killers play more aggresive against an already injured survivor. Especially late game. Less likely to respect pallets.

How? How can you keep playing this game every day, every night, with little to no stop, and keep on going, despite what's going on in the background, in the community? Do you really just not care that there's a constant conflict between the Survivors and Killers? If that's so, I salute you. I respect you for being able to continue playing with a calm composure, without a care in the world. You don't HAVE to care, if you somehow enjoy the game. A lot of the aspects of Dead by Daylight are infuriating. Some of them are even unfair, no matter which side we're talking about. I don't think I need to list any of them at all, as they've been constantly talked about on the forums ever since this game was released. Nevertheless, it doesn't matter what I think.
What do YOU think?
Because as questionable as some of the design decisions can be, there's no other game of this genre that consistenly grows in playerbase and updates.

Don't recall posting a full build there hm...
Honestly you can play decently well that way without dead hard as long as the killer isn't a lower TR killer. As long as you scope out a place to run when you hear the TR you'll always get a decent chase.

what happen last time?
I can't remember if it was the official one but there was a pretty bad one where one of the teams killers was pretty blatantly throttling connection to win (before dedicated servers and hatch close). And very unclear rules. One player got essentially robbed of winning the whole thing because the organisers hadn't settled on proper rules and told him he'd lost after the fact.

Why do people even heal without a medkit? Just bring dead hard and do gens.

Meg could use a new face and her older hair styles could do with an update.

Yeah this place is a cesspool. I don't know why I came back. Just boredom I guess.

As a killer we can't play the game, we can't have fun anymore it's ridiculous 5 minutes in 5 gens pop. Survivors barrel out the exit and some even tebag and message gg ez. It's ridiculous what is the point in playing killer anymore. Apart from getting bullied by survivors and Genrushed. Ever since ruin got destroyed and other killer nerfs came out killer is unplayable. Survivors have all the fun and have no problems in escaping etc. Killers on the other hand get screwed. We have no control and we just keep getting nerfs. Devs what is going on with your game.
I've never understood these statements. What the hell are you doing as killer where gens pop that fast? Either you're making this up or you're just not very good at killer and need to put more time in.

So I see advice given in the forums, often to new players by supposed expert red rank elite survivors/killers. Then I see two players throwing around their 5000 hour e-peens to argue which each other. And of course we have, to a limited extent, end game chat advice.
But what are some things that you see repeated over and over, often without any sort of explanation, just because someone said so once now it's cool to repeat.
Never drop shack pallet with 5 gens left. This could actually be furthered to "wasting pallets," in general which is a whole other thread. Anyways, if someone is being chased at shack and needs the pallet to keep from going down I don't mind. If they stay up for another 20-30 seconds because of it that means their teammates can all stay on gens. Once a killer starts the cycle of hook, save, chase, repeat is when the game really slows down for survivors.
Don't use self care EVER. Again, something that could be a thread all it's own, but there are times that self-care is okay. The perk itself isn't bad, just the way that a lot of people tend to use it.
Worst advice I see is "start with Claudette". You're pretty much sabotaging a new player by encouraging self care use.
Also "unlock all teachables" by do I regret listening to that.

'Fear of missing out' its the same idea used for battle passes. "Yes we know you have lots of other games to play but you only have 60 days to grind our battle pass for that one cosmetic you really wanted that we wont let you just buy".
Its used to keep player numbers up in the long term.
Its an awful system that battle passes popularised. Its similar to exclusive pre order dlc.
I do really like the idea of designing the cosmetics but we kind of already have that. Though I really like all the fan made ones so far so I'd be up to it.

There's no way to nerf or rework Spirit without defeating the purpose of her! Giving some kind of indicator will defeat the purpose of her.
Not only that Spirit flips the script on survivor s and makes them feel the same way other killers do. Other killers have to mindgame and hope that the survivor makes a mistake, Spirit takes that information away survivors and makes survivors hope that what they did was the right call.
@Enlyne I hate to say this, there is nothing skilled based involved with survivor when your feeding of information to counter something

if you’re so hellbent on countering a Spirits Stridor you can stack Iron Will and No Mither or other Sound reduction perks.
Stridor and Iron Will are in a good Place were they are and so is the Spirit.
One way of improving against the Spirit that alot of people neglect is to play as Spirit.
Honestly, playing a Spirit doesn't really make a difference if A. You don't have Iron Will or B. They have Stridor. No amount of unpredictable play will overcome your breathing/injured noises compared to the strength of a Spirit with a pair of $5 headphones. Her design is flawed.
Heck, I think voice audio (keeping footsteps if they ever start working properly again) should be muted and blood pools should be visible. At least at that point you'd have the opportunity to juke a spirit that's on your trail with smart use of them.
As of right now you literally just hope they aren't using a duration extender and hop a window/drop a pallet at the right at the right time.
One sided RNG is bad game design.

But Stridor counters Iron Will to begin with. So why should one perk completely counter another?
What comes first.
Ideally it would be the killer perk because of the number of perk slots of survivors vs killer.

a) The hill glitch that happens in both McMillan and Azarovs is extremely annoying. The fact that some killers take advantage of it and still hook you shows a lack of sportsmanship by taking advantage of a glitch. I am a ps4 red rank in both sides. I had to leave slugged more than 5 survivors so far who got glitched in the hill.
b) Yesterday I played with a PC Hillbilly who took advantage of the glitch and hooked the Jane. I have come across other PS4 killers like myself after disabling crossplay who have a lot more sportsmanship than PC killer mains and when the survivor gets glitched they leave them slugged.
C) I even let a Nancy escape who was the last remaining survivor in the map and the poor thing got glitched in the hill trying to get to the hatch. I closed the hatch for the points, let her wiggle out and open the gate and leave because I am not taking unfair advantage of a game glitch because it shows no sportsmanship as a gamer.
D) A lot of PC killers are hackers. I've seen way too many videos on youtube of people saying how easy it is for them to hack and now console players who have an FPS big disadvantage against PC players have to deal with that nonsense too.
E) I don't care if the game was dying in PC because only an estimate of 30k were playing daily. The devs seem to care more about their game than protecting the community and making the game fair and equal for everyone. The controllers are way easier to manage in PC than console and they have the 60FPS advantage which is huge for a PC killer against Console survivors.
F) In conclusion, if the devs want to establish console and PC crossplay, fix the FPS, fix the hitbox already, fix the servers, fix the hacker problem in PC and fix the glitches in the game!!!
*******P.S: I know not all PC players are the same. I am not generalizing, this is towards those who show lack of sportsmanship by taking advantage of glitches and exploiting the game**********
This can happen with hook too. Unhooked a guy and hopped on a gen. He started healing in place with a med kit. When he finished he was stuck in a hook for the rest of the game.

Hopefully not. Exclusive cosmetics are a plague that prey on FOMO. Also they said no more exclusives thank god.

Talking about interaction with Iron Will.
Just make Iron Will completely negate Stridor, as it was intended from the beginning. Why should one perk completely counter another?
Boom! Easy solution, no?
As i said. Spirit is fine, but her interaction with Stridor isn't.
Honestly, instead of nerfing a perk which isn't really worth taking on any other killer, I'd rather Spirit get a rework. I dropped her around I'm estimating 200 hours with her due to every chase playing out identically and just not getting any satisfaction out of her playstyle.
I'd be fine with Spirit being just as strong as she is now if they just added some sort of actual interaction between her and the survivor.
The devs go on and on about "meaningful interaction" between survivors and killer, yet the only interaction you get with the spirit is the second she pops out of her phase and hits you.
I'd like to add that the counter arguament is always 'you're just mad you can't loop" yet there are other strong killers that have non-looping counterplay to their kit. Hag can be countered by taking things slower and crouching across high traffic loops and safe pallets to not give her map/chase pressure/ with the trade off of giving her more time by slowing the game down, Nurse becomes pure guess work with no LOS with the tradeoff of bypassing pallets and vaults, Chainsaw users become gods of death if the survivor runs into a dead zone or misjudges distance on a longer loop, with the tradeoff of being hard countered by windows.
Most if not all other killers add some new form of counter-play when they take away an existing one, Spirit doesn't.
I adore design, lore, everything about her really. But as time has gone on I become less and less enthused about playing against her knowing I'm dead because I dared to not bring meta perks. And I often skip right over her in killer rotations now.
-
Man, I never hook the same survivor twice and I still regularly get hit by DS. There's no excuse for a perk that punishes one side for playing properly and the other gets rewarded for playing badly. Inb4 'but noed' yes that perk is awful too

Im done. It’s utterly insufferable playing ANY killer in this game anymore. SWF screwed Killer on all fronts but adding CROSSPLAY WITH NO BALANCE TO FRAMERATE FOR CONSOLE PLAYERS?
the fact this was not even considered is baffling.
- console is stuck at 30fps, meanwhile pc players have up to 120fps+ all the time
- PC players usually have monitors of 120-240htz which is absolutely HUGE in any competitive game. Consoles normally use TVs that have 60htz to MAYBE 120htz but most consoles cant even use these properly
- a huge amount of console bugs exist that mess with everyone, from huge amounts of tearing on the screen when you are about to strike a player to Oni bugs that make him stuck half the time due to lag or frame problems.
No one will play a Killer or will refund this game on console unless this is fixed. You cant expect to introduce crossplay and not balance it. What a Joke
It's been getting progressively worse again by the update. Who do they think they're kiding with this? They're gonna need to really get their ######### together for this Graphics pass they're doing.

I always thought Meg had a strange 'picture of a pigs face with the aspect ratio stretched upwards' look. Honesltly its the only survivor face that bothers me at all.

I want a survivor from the future. Cyberpunk clothing and dyed hair tips. single lens wraparound sunglasses, FLuroescant thriller style jacket with short sleeves. The works
-
Did the blind cancel the Frenzy or something? Allowing him to M1?
-
The hilarious thing is that changing it so it simply deactivates on another survivor being hooked/touching a gen would keep it just as strong for it's (or what they claim is) its intended use.
You wouldn't need to touch the stun time, nor the timer. Just that simple change and DS would probably remain a meta perk, but it wouldn't punish killers simply for playing well anymore.

Honestly, this game has given me the worst experience over the past few days and I've reached my breaking point with people. So we had a game on Limkin Lane against a ghostface, hes doing pretty terribly and takes a few minutes to get his first down, I kinda felt bad for him because I assumed its because of the new terrible matchmaking that either matches you with opponents that are far better than you or matches them with opponents that you destroy however thats a topic for another day. Now Im playing with 2 friends and the random gets downed and dragged to the basement. First peek in the house and we see the ghostface is camping in the house with the basement... right. Now its all well and good saying, leave that person, there is nothing you can do etc but man, its just not fun to play like that and why should a killer be entitled to one guarunteed kill every match just by downing someone once. Well, the guy plays like an ######### and we try to save the person in the basement and end up dedicating to it but its pretty hard without any communication from the random and we end up going down ourselves. I dont care that you can say, well you should bring this perk or that perk... no, the game shouldnt be based around luck if you happened to bring the right perk that counters a toxic strategy, how is it fair making a game where if you dont happen to bring the right perk you die. After post game chat and generally playing to altruistically and trying to save eachother from being camped (we got ######### over) we find out its because one of us brought a flashlight... a yellow one with no addons because they are just generally fun to use (unlike standing still at the top of the basement) and have tremendous counterplay.
The fact that the game has systems in check that can easily punish you if someone doesnt like something you do is ridiculous. Im not a game developer so I cant really suggest what would be a good fix for this other than maybe 2 exits for the basement (but then we would probably need some sort of counterbuff so it doesnt just destroy the basement) but either way its pretty dumb and just makes the game unfun. I got too heated and left after that game but it sucks, I like to play to have fun but that game was just stressful and stupid. Oh and not only that but I find it ridiculous that the game has abilities that endorse camping? Like seriously, why? The devs always seem to focus on non issues and dont fix the real problems this game has and always end up making it worse
It sucks but its intended design. You have a few options. Do gens and punish the killer, distract with a hit and while someone else unhooks with or without BT, or a hook trade.

Idk about ticks bc hit reg still seems bad
Its about how often the server updates every second (or close to that, not too educated on it). 60 would be double what we have and is the standard in a lot of games. It'd most probably have a massive effect on ghost hits over pallets/round corners and such.
-
I seem to remember something about servers moving from 30 to 60 tick aswell but I can't remember where.
-
That's happened to me a few times recently. Usually when I wait for the lunge, I'll activate it when the arms raised, it'll proc but I'll get no benefit and go down. I can only assume it's latency and on the killers screen I was already in the process of taking a hit.
Hopefully with better servers in the future this'll be fixed. Have they ever commented on changing killer hit detection server side rather than killer client side?
-
Safe pallets can still reduce him to a Basic M1 killer. I really like the new version. Less annoying to play against due to the passive madness build up being removed. Removing the toggle mode made him a lot more fun and less finicky to play.
I used to hate playing him now he's in my top 3 played without a doubt.
He's an example of a rework done right, along with the Hag. Hope they can do the same for Legion and Clown someday.

Okay, the "there's no difference" narrative really has to go.
Load up a killer.
Spin in a circle with a mouse and with a gamepad.
One will be faster and more accurate.
It won't be the gamepad.
There, objective difference with an objective advantage in two seconds of testing.
Jesus, guys, we don't live in a fantasy world where things are the same just because you want them to be.
It's the console war mentality. It's something you have to grow out of. I'm not blaming the console players thought. This flaming is coming from both sides, and thats the pathetic thing.

I play on xbox and until now pc survivors are the same as console survivors and I would say that you find more SWF on console than on PC. you can loop killers the same way .. so what's the difference? Theoretically, the cross oaly has just started and if you are rank 1 it means that you can defeat all console and PC. I believe that the best advantage that pc killers is that they use a mouse and console killers their thumb
It's more that the level of control and higher performance adds up to a higher skill ceiling. It doesn't mean every individual player is a god compared to console players.
Look at the "PC master race" meme for example. It's portrays PC players as rich dudes with $4K pcs playing all the latest games at 4k 240 fps. But in reality..... Steam data has shown something like 5% of Steam users have PCs capable of running recent games above 1080p 30 on medium settings.

On a Xbox one X it was somewhat stable but now I'm getting sub 20 at most times. I get spun in an open dead zone and that survivor is GONE with this fps.
The optimization of this game is quite frankly embaressing
-
It's weird reading these posts as MMR made me want to stop playing again. Every game as killer ended in under 5 minutes because the survivors just didn't know how to play. It was so boring and easy.
Now that they've taken it back off I'm getting matches against equal or at least near skilled opponents and enjoying the game again.
-
I may disable cross play as killer. Dunno. The frame rate is so bad now, worse than ever. A 360 by a survivor will often make them vanish between frames. So considering how insane 360s are on mouse sensitivity I'm not looking forward to it.
