I'm starting to sound like a broken record at this point but...you know this how?

theres never been evidence of this. matchmaking has been schizzo and busted since gf release. Speaking for myself imbalance has had nothing to do with me mostly dropping killer, I just got bored of the game loop. Im sure many others feel the same

I personally run devour hope but this has always puzzled me. Devour hope requires 3 unhooks before it can activate and if you can get 5 you can mori (which against a good team wont happen). Devour hope is obviously active right away which is a blessing and a curse it could get clensed before you even get the first hook. Also noed gives you the speedboost. But yeah just some thought i personally normally run devour hope into thrill of the hunt good luck getting a totem with a 1shot killer lol (but ive seen this used with noed as well].

Devour gives a small speed boost increasing map pressure and can allow you to potentially instantly kill a survivor who hasn't even been hooked yet.

Not to mention practically infinite instadown M1 attacks mid match can be game over if the totem gets a decent spawn.

I recently played a group of players and thought... this is far too well organised so asked them afterwards whether they were in an SWF using communications. They responded no and they were solo.

You can imagine my surprises a couple of matches later at seeing them again in a lobby, what were the odds!

Why do survivors lie about being in an SWF?

Because can and will actually happen when you reach red ranks as survivor. I'm always getting the same 20 or so familiar faces in red ranks as a solo player.

I get messaged and sometimes even flamed by killers for simply sneaking aboot and getting gens done and escaping without being seen. They think that just because you know to pay attention to the space around you that you're on SWF. A lot of killers tend to have an ego and will accuse anyone who outplays them as SWF. Conversly, this happens with a LOT of survivors with inflated egos thanks to SWF who callout a killer for using 'underhanded' or 'cheap' tactics to win when they themselves may be in voice chat or using meta builds.

I don’t understand why you don’t bother with totems unless you run a specific build, you’re telling me you don’t have a spare 14 seconds? I’m not saying you should go out of your way to find them. Simply running to a gen, going for a unhook, being chased by the killer you’ll spot a totem lol.

I seriously don’t get the survivor logic when playing solo

That 14 seconds can male all the difference against an actually good killer.

When i play solo gens are 100% my focus. the time spent running around trying to find tots can potentially be longer than 1 entire gen solo. If ratjer chance that on my teammates being competent in chases and keep that time where it matters. like the final gen or exit gates.

  • @RaSavage42 said:

I play as Wraith, I haven't thought of a name for the build and how I play it... and of course I don't expect to do much point wise I use:

Discordance (so I can tell if the survivors do gens together

Shadowborn (so I can see survivors around me better

Haunted Grounds (cause I want to see if they panic)

Whispers (so I know where to go in the first place)

I tend to stay invisible but will ring my bell once to see what the survivors do... also will (try) to hit survivors whom miss skillchecks or if they get used to me ringing my bell, I'll completely uncloak and try to get a surprise hit

I've had some hilarious moments doing that...

Haunted grounds and third seal has been a lot of fun for me when Im not against a swf. Unfortunately its very easy to tell if they are when you have all 4 blind.

I often find myself sweating as killer when I really shouldn't

a Good way to avoid this is doing random perk roulette. Use whatever you get and don't reroll if you get bad perks. I always go in with the expectation of not winning. If you have very few perks you could use a random number generator to decide what perks you get.

Another thing to do is to just ######### around with franklins, maybe take trapper and always put a Trap on their dropped item, equipping both dark trap addons works great. Use insidious to hid next to the item and take them by surprise

Do the most "disgusting" build you can think of but don't kill anyone, bring a ebony mori, Noed, op addons and whatever you can think of. See how many survivors you can down, but never hook them. If you manage to down four people, dc. This will make them really confused and its hilarious. This is also a dc resistance test for survivors. In reality if you kill them or not they will complain.

Rank dosent mean anything so just don't care about it.

Stop worrying about pips. Its what I do once I get to red ranks. Makes the game more enjoyable. Also makes me feel more free to try experimental perk builds.

come up with a main objective in your head before the game. Personally I try to cull the Feng bunny population.

  • I only cleanse if I'm running a dedicated totem build or I recognisethe killer's playstyle/cosmetics and know they're a noed/devour user

Otherwise I just try to memorise them. A good killer wont give you the time to waste on totems so spending the total rime of trying to find one + cleanse time is better spent on gens. Especially solo. cant trust anyone to do gens but yourself

  • I've had more bad experiences with toxic fengs than neas and claudettes on my team. Also both level 70 rewards on the last 2 rifts are for Feng when she isnt even featured #########?

  • I completed a few Archive challenges before the pages were added and subsequently have lost the chance to earn them. Anyone else?

  • I assume the 3/4 gen trapper build is probably vital now as opposed to it being an option like before. I've always wanted to like trapper but I can't really enjoy the playstyle. Weird because I love Hag.

So... I think it’s time to talk about respawning pallets.

If hooks respawn, so should pallets. Although, I wouldn’t advocate the pallets respawning in the same place they were broken, nor do I think it should be anything like the speed that hooks respawn. Here is my proposal:

Every two minutes, the map generates pallets to the total number that spawned at the beginning of the match. If the map spawns with 7 pallets, and 3 pallets are broken, not just downed, but broken, then at two minutes in, the map regenerates the 3 broken pallets.

This enables the killer to prevent pallets from respawning by leaving them. Not all pallets are safe, so they don’t all need to be broken.

In this way, the fewer number of pallets on maps is fine, but you don’t end up with a whole map that is a dead zone.

Also, 2 minutes is maybe too fast, perhaps it needs to be 3 minutes instead.

Eh, I think any means necessary is already pretty strong. If the killer is breaking EVERY pallet they're going to be losing a lot of time. And if they've specced into a pallet countering build like enduring and spirit fury or brutal strength and fire up that's two potential perk slots gone. Meaning less chance of endgame hex surprises.

I have no doubt that if they tried this it would be easily exploitable. Maybe a perk somewhere down the line that allows one random (no god pallets) to be regenerated per game. Who knows.

go play killer lol (there i said the meme now gimme upvotes)

Also having to quickly say that you have 4 times of hours as killer even tho i said nothing about you never playing killer just makes me believe that you actually never played killer.

Your reply and the upvotes to your post prove my point perfectly about this place. Its a safe space for self-victimising killer players, and day 1 survivors.

    Go on. Post yours. :)

Im wondering if OP here believes that pallet vacuums , insta blinds and other bullshit like that were "balanced" for him.

Strawman. He never said that. I would never either. But i agree that starting with the starbreeze buyback the game just kept getting easier and easier for me as killer. It seems obvious that starbreeze was maybe forcing them to cater to the masses, which is fair from a business standpoint. And its good to see them have more control of their vision. But I'm actually enjoying killer less rhan ever due to easy one sided stomps. and solo survivor is less fun due to said killer buffs that leave swf untouched

Honestly, at red ranks, Outside of the rare 1 in 1000 god looper, perfect flashlight timing swfs I KNOW I'm getting that 4k.

And before you come at me with the usual 'lol u dun play kiler' crap that gets slung around here so often, I have over 4 times the hours as killer that i do as survivor.

  • @Ascended4Head said:

I've been playing this game since 2016 and have seen balance on both sides. A year or two ago, I would get to red rank with both killer and survivor. The last 18 months have been nothing but continual survivor nerfs and the continual decline of any type of skill needed by killer to 4k during matches.

This recent patch where tons of dead zones are now on maps, and you really can't do anything as survivor, should not surprise anyone that has followed the updates or have come on these forums. For months anyone with an opinion that this game is not survivor sided has been bashed or banned from posting on here. I see 10x more posts and people getting attacked if they say anything about survivor no longer being fun or issues with the current balance. The mods have really turned this forum into a cesspool of people who have created an alternate reality of the balance of the game. The mods also seem to turn a blind eye to anyone attacking someone who argues for survivor balance. This has obviously created more of an echo chamber.

4-5 months ago escape ratios were released. Which showed overwhelmingly that this game was killer sided. To my disbelief, people still argued that even though all killers at red ranks have over a 50 percent kill ratio, some over 70 percent, that this game was still survivor sided.

Through your "balance" you have made this game just awful to play on survivor side. You have taken out the mind games. You've destroyed any type of critical thinking in the chase for killer. You've released a killer who completely destroys any resemblance of balance in a chase by giving that killer a long range gun. This game is overwhelmingly killer sided. To state otherwise is to deny reality.

I keep hearing about how killer got a few balance patches to nurse and ruin. Please. Look at the list that shows survivor nerfs compared to killer nerfs, you'll see that the list is 10x lengthier. Nobody should be surprised that this has become run in straight line simulator. We are living the meme. Expect even more nerfs to survivor in the future. They won't be done until every 10k hour lunchbox is able to 4k with ease.

im worried i may have to throw on an exhaustion perk to stand any chance in chases now. I had a wreckers yard map uesterday where going any further than the zones by the shack was a death sentence due to worthless hills replacing any form of tile

Can everyone please understand that waving hands that it is safe makes no sense as what would you do with the Bubba, sit there not waving hands? #rantover

if i run near a hook and the killer is patrolling or camping and they were waving I just leave them to fate. Its globally meant camper for years now I aint letting any new free weekenders change my mind

Decisive Strike - Survivors DS’ed my ass even if I don’t tunnel, I was just overperforming and downing them for their mistakes too quickly..

Borrowed Time - why this perk got buffed so much? And it used not as for camping Killers, but for being able to be cocky at hooks.

@Peanits , why do you ignore feedback about at least Decisive? Just why? Survivors are so nasty bcs of tons of second chances.

lmao borrowed time buffed. You must not have played against that perk in it original form. Current bt is fine.

I was an old Freddy main and I played both old and new Freddy at rank 1 (or rather I did up until early Feb, I stopped because I just found him so insanely easy to play it wasn't fun anymore).

    But sure. Whatever you say.

Same. Strong in logical hands. People sidnt want to have to manage multiple survivors at endgame even though it could have a massive payoff

  • Give one side enough attention and when you throw the other side a bone they'll act like you've betrayed them.

Truth is about 1.5 years ago this game was almost unplayable for killer, but theres been a fair number of killer buffs and survivor nerfs.

Survivors get one tiny buff and its hell on earth. Now we're seeing the opposite and the cycle is starting again.

  • Old freddy was weak but unique. The 100 second gate open build was a favourite of mine. I was devastated when they made him. a generic chase killer and nerfed remember me.

The micro management aspect was also fun. Hes completely brainless bow. Just slap on pop and bbq and get a free 4 k

Predator is going to flop after a month of initial success. Mark my words

its being made by the Friday the 13th devs so expect game breaking bugs to last upwards of six months.

  • I was prepared to laugh upon reading the title. Terrible game, but that is a nice feature.

  • I disagree. Killers viability should he dependant on the killer players skill and not the survivors mistakes.

More Spirits,Onis and Deathslingers and less legions and clowns.

  • One thing I've noticed is that if a legion manages to get a hook in early and get everyone injured with deep wound a lot of players just seem to give up as they're too behind to get any real gen progress going.

To prevent one survivor from sandbagging a whole team when hes using infinite or tombstone I assume. I dont really have a problem with it.

No good myers needs SEVEN evil within3s

  • Her vomit projectile feels inconsistent. My only gripe.

  • I dont tunnel. I do pretty well. Ill slug an unlucky survivor but I wont hook them twice in a row. Free map pressure especially if the unhooker is within chasing range.

  • Happens to me a lot. I just kill myself on the hook to get them to leave.

  • I've definitely had this myself but it happened so infrequently that I questioned if I was just imagining it until I saw people here mention it.

  • This is a little besides the point and no hate towards Otz.

But when did he become the inofficial spokesperson of the community?

it feels like he just materialized on the subreddit about 8 months ago and now his word is law.

  • Old sabo was silly.

One survivor could just 99 every hook and completely lock down a section of the map for 3 or so minutes. The new one requires teamwork to be optimal but a full sabo/saving focused build like dead hard sabo and breakout is a viable style of play now if you use your brains.

I really like the new sabo and have actually managed to save a couple survivors as a solo by baiting missed hits and such.

Even had a few quitters who dont realise slugging is a thing at rank 1.

  • Aint that the truth. I hope this MMR thing fixes it but at this point the game is making me want play swf.

So i tried to shred him, but as excpected he dropped the pallet right on top of my head... and started t-bagging AGAIN. At this point i really was frustrated, so i broke the pallet, and THEN he started running. So I just wandered off, to find the rest working on the gens. And guess what? I got a notification behind me from the crows, i turned around, and he was FOLLOWING ME! I mean, who follows a killer? you should spend your time doing something usefull, not irritate the killer just trying to have some fun...

So i started chasing him again, because he was right behind me. And the first thing he does is going to a fence near a house (btw we were on the map of the shape, also known as michael myers) and he jumps at a vault area, so i clumb over it, and he was back at the other side... T-BAGGING! He just did'nt stop, so I tried, and tried, and tried, and he was still up t-bagging. So i ran off againg, trying to find the rest.

Of course i checked behind me, and of course, he was following me again, but i just did'nt care.

Eventually i found another survivor, wich i could actually catch. So, i picked em up, brought him to the hook... and could'nt hang him.

I was wondering why, i looked down, and guess what?! That same tryhard was sitting there, bodycamping the hook! And you can already guess what happend next... he t-bagged...

So anyway, i started slashing. Got him wounded, and he ran.

So, that's all i have to say, of course he did way more, but its just to much.

Anyway, i hope you understand my comment, and before anyone starts complaining i have to say this: It is surely ok to be good at a game, in fact, do what you want, but please do NOT disturb other players their expirience, it can be really frustrating for them.

Adding voice chat and balancing around that would never work since you could get matched with someone who speaks a diffrent language or has a horrible mic

If their dedicated servers are in the right areas that shouldnt be a problem. Ive never had anyone on a London based server who didnt have a half decent grasp of english.

@gibblywibblywoo yea, a lot of swf players are bad. So lets flip your argument: "if a hacker use wallhacks, its not that bad, because a lot of them are potatoes". Yes they are a lot of bad players, but saying that being bad justifies cheating is false.

Difference here is that the devs are fine with voicechat. Hacks go against TOS

  • @ZoneDymo said:

I get your frustration regarding it but think about this, what IF your suggestion goes through?

Ok yes its more annoying for the "wanting to leave" survivor becuase they cant just dip out and look for a new match BUT what will happen then is the same on the kiler side, you get hooked? ok fine bye, imma get some tea and alt tab out doing something else until the game is over, just AFK there after you are unhooked by a teammate.

I can see where you're coming from but speaking from experience, back when I started plying I had games where ai'd get downed early, check out and as I tried to sacrifice myself a teammate would save me and we'd bring the match back around and escape. If this were the case I think we'd see plays like that a lot more often.

Not to mention the survivor just being on the hook is extra pressure, no matter how little that the actual players remaining could use.

  • True. I think at this point they should just add in game voice chat and balance around that. They say the want to close the gap between solo and swf, the answers right in front of their eyes and would allow them to easily buff killers to match as we'd all be on the same level.

  • I've always liked the last hook = mori idea but then you'd probably never see a hook kill again. Which kind of defeats the purpose of the game as we're meant to be feeding the entity...

  • SWF is only bad about 20% of the time.

Most swf players are quite bad and rely on the communication to get the drop on the killer. But struggle in chases and tend to be too overly altruistic.

Stealth killers are a definite victim too.

I'd say 1 in every 20 SWF teams are going to grind you into dust but that will be because they are just good players even when playing solo and are just being boosted even further by the comms.

  • Ghostface is great but I wish they would rework him to make actually using his abilities the optimal way to play. Right now just using the shroud for quick and quiet map traversal and a free first hit is infinitely better than wasting time crouching around and stalking.

Also the detection is still messy for both sides but I've given up hope on t at being fixed.

  • I'll only teabag a killer if they've gone out of by their way to play scummy or BM. As killer I'll just slug their DS and watch them rage quit.

FUN FACT: The OG dbd website said that taunting and baiting the killer was a legit strategy to bait them into chases so getting mad about someone pushing a button is a bit silly.

  • Deep wound has been consistantly pointless since its addition. I didnt actually realise until I went up against a deathslinger eh at RUNNING pauses the timer even if the killer is hooking someone elsewhere.

Also having to fill more meters as survivor isnt fun

My experience on them from the survivor POV is that they're exclusively used by hook campers with noed looking for easy early game pressure.
