It basicly does the exact oposite.
Yeah I saw when Otz said that too, and I disagree completely. Survivors have to get off the gen for DMS to do anything, and adding in the scourge hook only insures a single gen is blocked.
-
COH deletes the hit and run strat and forces the killer to tunnel/camp if the survivor team is good and DS greatly restricts a killer's ability to tunnel someone out of the game before gens are finished. I think the perk is still extremely strong, you just can't blatantly abuse it anymore.
-
Honestly I would replace the 25% thing with just a flat 10% faster wiggle speed. 1.6s off a wiggle isn't nearly as bad as how you can abuse boil over on specific maps. Just my two cents though, I doubt they change it beyond just a basic numbers change.
-
Putting aside the fact it's a bit questionable on specific killers it does motivate you to not camp which is a good thing imo.
-
Never going to happen. Besides even when you turn crossplay off cheaters can still get into your games.
-
I mean if you play for fun you will end up with a lot of games were you get 2-3 hooks. I don't know about you guys but a 5min game with only 3 chases isn't something I consider fun, in fact it's extremely boring.

Nah, his cheeks aren't hanging out. Inferior Yamaoka confirmed.
Yeah but have you seen his pecks hanging out? DAMN he thick.
-
Well, Kazan IS the superior Yamaoka so it's a good thing you stopped singing the praises of the LESSER Yamaoka. Oni-chan is pleased. :)

No, I'm not. CoH is fine. Killers just whining instead of just stomping the boon out and tunneling the boon'er.
Oh, well that's disappointing.

Please tell me you’re joking.
I'm pretty sure he is being sarcastic.
-
Bump, because this is still a massive problem.
-
This changes nothing about the root problem with COH: the fact it completely removes the ability to spread pressure, as long as they get unlimited self healing that will always be the main issue with the perk, it makes it impossible for killers like Legion, Oni, etc. This perk is broken at a fundamental level not just the fact you can heal in 4s.

Tombstone piece, and just full tombstone, Myers is this game as it should be.
He's creepy and threatening when he runs it, real horror.
I fail to see how anyone could find it annoying other than they want a non horror scooby doo loopy chase experience rather than a Halloween survival horror experience.
I prefer the latter as survivor and killer.
Well said, pretty much just how I feel.
-
It's fine, you see it once in a blue moon and even more rare are YOU the one being moried. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
-
I mean their validation in general is absolute trash (the actual validation not the feedback.) If all they do is fix the feedback then it's still trash, just well polished trash. I'm not saying DH doesn't need validation or not, I'm saying the current validation is hot garbage and needs to be completely reworked from the ground up.
-
When I play killer if I know you are going to leave your last teammate on their first/second hook then I absolutely will let them escape if they rat you out. Rats get to escape, cowards don't.
-
@cordonrouge said:
Why is it that if you're the last survivor in the game and have 0 hooks, you get instantly killed at first hook? you dont even have that 4% chance of doing something. at the end of the day, if you're the last one either your entire team died, or you were left alone by selfish players, or maybe (as i've had happen to me multiple times) i get downed to protect someone else since im at 0 hooks but they all leave anyway.
"it's a waste of time because even if you unhook, the killer will be camping and you'll die"
not really, as a jeff who runs breakdown, and possibly 3 other hooks gone, i could still have the chance to wiggle off. not to mention the existence of dead hard, decisive strike, unbreakable, and several other game mechanics. the game isnt over at all.
"the killer deserves at least to be guaranteed a kill after all that"
no, not when you arbitrarily decide to change a mechanic for no reason. an already existing one that just randomly doesnt get applied in this circumstance because of the code. honestly it left me confused many times before i realized it was like that, thinking maybe i'd already been hooked once even if it wasnt the case.
besides you can still do this if the last other survivor was killed recently.
once a survivor dies on hook, there's roughly a 15 second animation before the game actually considers him dead, making hatch spawn etc... in this case you can unhook yourself. so why can i do it in this circumstance but not when im alone, just because of terrible coding? (not to mention that this animation problem is an entirely different issue giving free kindred aura reading and denying hatch spawn for the last survivor etc)
it's funny because the insta death isn't even coded to not waste time (another common argument against this), since it just makes you go from hook 1 to 2, then from 2 to death, instead of insta-dying. and also the killer doesnt get to go to lobby until after the 15 second entity animation ends.
and you know what else? in horror media usually a bunch of people die (otherwise it wouldnt be a horror), and if anyone survives at all, it's probably the very last one alive, against terrible odds. so why, in the spirit of horror, cant we attempt a 4% chance that in 99% of games won't change anything, and in the other 1% would give an unexpected and adrenalinic experience for both killer and survivor? end game plays are always the most fun after all.
lastly, if someone were to not attempt unhook in order to be toxic and waste time, you could fix this by:
-*ACTUALLY* making the survivor insta-die at reaching second hook, taking overall not much longer wait time than it takes now.
-making the hook state progress faster, while still keeping the same percentage of progress removed at failed attempt.
-ignoring the fact that it *could* make the players "waste" a few seconds more in the game, when the real time waste is given by lobby times, getting into a match with hackers, joining a game just to be tunneled out in 2 minutes, and all of the other problematic stuff that actually makes you waste time when you play this game. besides, slugging and other accepted game mechanics waste really way more time. and you know what else? if you consider gameplay like this a waste of time you probably should find another game that you enjoy more.
another small lore related point: the entity feeds on survivors' hope right? then why insta kill them at the end. if anything the progress could be faster as previously suggested, as the entity gets more excited while the trial is coming to an end.
I dont know if i should've posted this under suggestions or in general discussions, but i chose the latter since it seems to be kind of an unpopular opinion. i wish BHVR would take this into consideration though, both to remove a mechanic that frustrates me and also to be more coherent since there's mechanics that are way way more situtational and clutch than this one (keys?) and are accepted with no problem.
This is a really long post for saying you want to be able to use Deliverance/DS to escape if your team abandons you. No, the game is over and you lost.
-
For Killer it depends (obviously) but my main is Oni so his would be corrupt, bbq, the scourge one that regresses gens and infectious fright. For survivor it's Dead Hard, Windows of Opportunity, WGLF and Boon: Circle of Fairness.
-
ALL effective tactics in this game are boring. Camping/tunneling/gen slamming/W/prethrow pallets. All effective stuff in this game is extremely boring because all of them minimize interactions with the other side and basically just remove them from the equation.
-edit for spelling error.

No, the best thing they could do is balance the perk. Under no circumstances should you get a free 3rd health state as a reward for failure.
I agree with you, it's just an educated guess based on what I have seen them do in the past is all.
-
I believe they are aware of how strong the perk is and I also believe they are perfectly fine with it, the best they will do is adjust the feedback given to the killer when getting "validated" which will likely be visual only and not actually nerf the perk in any way. They even said it themselves, they balance this game around the 1v1 so yeah, might as well not stress out about it and just find a different game.

The risk is the time investment of blessing a totem. If it gets snuffed before it gets any use, it costs the survivors precious time.
I think CoH needs to affect one fuld health state to break even with the time it takes to bless, and that might be due for re-evaluation.
But if it's a 'x use only' perk type, it'd go down to zero usage like literally all other survivor perks.
Yes but 16s for survivors is not nearly as much as it is for killers, also they can always adjust how long it takes to bless. Another thing is that survivors get to choose where the totem goes, Killer's hex perks are RNG they have no say where they go so that alone makes boons pretty good. Like I said, numbers can change, it's just the infinite re-lighting that is the issue.

There's nothing particularly wrong with the boon mechanic in general. Provided the individual boon perks are balanced around that general system there's no problem. You can see that for example in how Exponential and Shadowstep generally don't generate that many complaints despite using that Boon system themselves. Circle of Healing is only an issue because its specific effects are too strong for the ease with which a survivor can get to its aura. Assuming they eventually tone down Circle of Healing's speed, etc, it'll be on par with the other perks.
They need to have a limit on reuse if not outright remove it. The mechanic is what is broken, it's high reward low risk when it should be high risk high reward; survivors should be tactical in where they place them and when not how it currently is. Of course if they did make this change (and they should) they would obviously need to make them harder for the killer to find, such as reducing the audio notification when nearby, etc.
-
The perk itself is fine, the issue is the boon mechanic in general, which will be addressed sooner or later.

Okay, fair point in that regards. I'm just wondering if there's a way for No Mither to avoid being OP for an Oni, even if it's a rare occurrence.
On the flip side No Mither makes Oni's insta-down worthless, reducing his power to just extra mobility. Also look at it from the Oni's side, when I see a No Mither in my matches as Oni it always makes me smile, a big smile and I'll typically let that survivor go if they manage to survivor until the end.
-
@Chamelion said:
Just had a game against an Oni, and something popped up that actually made the game SUPER unfair on the killer's side.
The catch? It was nothing to do with what the killer had, but what a survivor had. Specifically, No Mither.
I can understand the mechanics between the two of them, and seperately, it's fine. However, this combination alone had allowed the Oni to immediately get to his Demon Fury mode in less than 15-20 seconds into the match.
Is there a way, Devs, that you could look into this matter and adjust how No Mither works in tandem with the Oni's ability, somehow?
I believe they already touched on this very thing, they said perks should not counter killer powers and I agree, if everyone had No Mither and they didnt' drop blood orbs then it would be literally impossible for Oni to get his power. I'm aware this is an extreme example but the fact remains that it shouldn't be an option even if extremely unlikely, also No Mither is the "hard mode" perk for survivors and with that in mind I see no issue with it giving Oni blood orbs.
-
He isn't the strongest but he is a lot of fun, chances are if you are facing a nemi he is looking for a fun game not a win at all costs, or maybe that's just me XD

Well I already established with proof that the only validation in this game is for pallet drops and Dead Hard which doesn't have anything to do with playing on 300+ ping because it will always be bad.
Secondly, the issue is that people are using VPNs to connect to servers that are across the world so it "typically making your connection a little bit faster" has nothing to do with that. If I connect to a server in China from the US my ping would be horrible and nice "a little bit faster".
As for the privacy thing, swatting due do dbd is a myth, it could be from a person streaming, not playing dbd. Sure DDOSing is an issue but if you are using a VPN to hide your true IP you could just connect to a server that's closer instead of connecting to China, so that is false too.
You told me I was wrong on everything I said but when I asked for you to go into details you did not. The nature of a VPN is that you can't control it, hell even amazon has to jump through hoops to restrict VPNs and they can only do that by keeping track of where you live and your typical IP addresses. Friend I'm telling you that there is nothing BHVR can do, I'm not simping for them or white knighting or anything, in fact on a whole I dislike them as a company, however they can't control VPNs anymore than they can control the weather.

No it's just that every single thing you said was incorrect.
Oh, I wasn't aware you worked in the networking field. Do tell me then how it works, since all that training I had seems to be incorrect.
-
I'm sorry that the truth is an answer you don't like, sadly reality doesn't change based on our wants.
-
That is no different than saying something like "just do better!" It doesn't help and doesn't provide a solution. For the record they already have validation for extremely high pings, what you seem to want is to only have people with extremely fast pings which is not the majority. Also since you don't seem to be aware of this fact but VPNs typically make your connection a little bit faster, so in reality if you want the best experience everyone should be on VPNs. Oh and did I mention they protect your privacy as well?
-
No they can't do anything about it, that's the nature of a VPN. Sorry bud but until the internet changes at a fundamental level VPNs are here to stay and no there is not an effective way to restrict them, well not something readily available to the public that is.
-
The only reason they will nerf DH is because it ends up making killers quit the game and thus makes survivor ques 20-30min, until that happens they won't do anything to nerf survivors.
-
It should be an opt-out yes.
-
I disagree, it is survivor sided.
-
Nemi is a great design, his zombies need some work (mostly AI but also a speed buff) his add ons need a serious pass and in my opinion T3 should apply infection and damage on hits and if they are already infected but healthy when hit by T3 they go into deep wounds, I think that would be a good change for him without adding to much to him.
-
Oni, Blight, original Billy and Demo.
-
The Cenobite
- New Cenobite's VO lines have been added.
Is this what I think it is? :)
-
How is gearhead being nerfed? It's probably the single worst perk in the entire game (and that's saying A LOT.) I dislike that the aura is the same as the gen aura I feel like that will keep it mediocre at best but maybe they could add the gen aura becoming yellow and survivor aura showing at the same time? Just my two cents.
Pinky finger was a little bs though in it's current form, but I have mixed feelings since clown is already weak on his own, maybe give him an extra bottle to compensate for nerfing his better add ons? Or maybe the devs surprise us all with a much needed map rework and Clown becomes top tier since loops require strategy instead of just "throw pallet, pallet gets kicked (no mindgames possible) repeat.
-
Tofu rarely plays killer these days and he honestly believes Circle of Healing is fine as it currently is, I can't really take his opinion seriously and I disagree with most all of his stances.
-
I believe they said he and Legion are up next on their to do list, I'm not sure if this is 100% accurate but it is what I heard on the grape vine.
-
Monitor on slinger was annoying but no where near overpowered or oppressive, survivors even have perks to find stealthier killers it just requires them to not use the typical stuff everyone brings. I disagree entirely with his nerfs, he needed buffs and none of his nerfs were deserved, revert them completely and give him buffs on top of it. There is nothing wrong with having a different play-style from the typical gen slow down builds, and a stealthier slinger was one of them.
He doesn't need a 32M TR, he doesn't need a cooldown after ADS and he doesn't need a lullaby, he needs buffs, he needed them before he was nerfed, imo he is bottom 3 killers easily.
-
I disagree, I think he is very clunky and weak which translates into very unfun for me, I use to main him too, him and Oni.
-
Myers or Doc, hard to pick between the two, Pig is third for sure though.

kek how is hit validation a bad idea? havent you ever been exhausted on the ground? using DH and perfectly timing it only for it to slap you in the face was aggravating back then.
Their hit validation does not work well enough to add it to things like that, I'm not saying it can't be done, plenty of games have done it, I am saying the hit validation in this game is poorly implemented and unfair to the killer side. I'm not talking about the visual feedback, you are assuming it was implemented in a fair and working manor, if that were the case I would agree that it is fine, BHVR doesn't implement well thought out and functioning things like that they always mess it up.
-
I really do think giving it "hit validation" (when said validation doesn't even work well) was a very bad idea. This perk is a problem, it was already the best perk in the game (before CoH) and is now overpowered beyond belief, also there is a hack out there that does DH for you just before you are about to be hit, thus making it impossible for the killer to hit you until you are exhausted.
-
If hooks were more plentiful I would say this legacy mechanic is fine, they did at some point in the past removed numerous hook spawns from every map and caped them out at 8 hooks per map on every map (not including basement hooks.) On maps like D-Ward using up a single hook can create a safe place that you can never hook a survivor at if they go down, it's just another issue in map balance imo. There should be more hooks on bigger maps, 8 hooks on Wrecker's Yard is fine, but 8 hooks on Mother's Dwelling is not.
Also for some reason every now and again you will only have 6-7 hooks on a map and on badham the back of the school can be an entire safe zone if the basement is there.
-
If I had to pick a single reason hmm...It's like playing a game of Halo, you vs 4 other people, you start with a plasma pistol, can't pick up any other weapons or grenades and they start with 4 rocket launchers and sniper rifles, would you find that fun? I sure don't.
-
While I agree 100% that boons are unfair and old undying wasn't as bad as people made it out to be, you really can't compare the two perk types. They are both very different, the only thing they have in common in fact is the fact they use totems, other than that though they are not the same in any way.
Boons do need major nerfs across the board but hexes shouldn't be changed to become more in line with boons, apples and oranges you know?
-
I'm at high MMR and I am considering quitting the game, it's just unfun even when I win. I'm not saying this to get people to give me what I want or nothing goofy, I just no longer enjoy the game and there are a lot of great games right around the corner.
