You would have to ask this the devs. But its probably due to the spaguetti code. So adapting the hit boxes sounds easier than it would actually be.
Collisions are normally a part of the assets.
I believe they explained the way hit-boxes were designed was a way to have some uniformity between killers and survivors.
Otherwise, smaller survivors and slender killers would have a big advantage.

What Otz said is correct. The worse/nicer you play the more toxic people become. People will taunt you relentlessly when they realize they own you. The in game toxicity goes down a lot when you're destroying people. As the killer you have no reason to ever play nice.
One of my guilty pleasures is to play the clumsy Nurse, then properly massacre the cocky survivors who thought it was a signal to bully.
Usually ends-up in the salt mines.

It's huntress or legion, both are broken
Huntress has cheating hitboxes, legion brainless
I'm sure you can demonstrate how you crush good teams with both of them.

Joke aside, skill checks are client-side.

Funny how "boring" here means "Cannot learn to play around it".
This may suit the bored crowd better:
You may know me from Metro/Narejj streams, or because of my youtube channel. Jk, nobody knows me I'm a French LoL and DbD player, currently studying IT and I like to make useless stuff like this.No boring killer, guaranteed.

No object, as in, there were no objects around? Or as in, he didn't bounce on an object?
What Brimp meant was that Blight can slide along an object without bumping on it. If, while sliding along an object, they turn into it, it can look as if they suddenly changed direction when they pass the object.
Look up Hug Tech, if you want to know more. I am currently learning to use that better as Blight. Btw, to a fault, it is also possible for Demo and Hillbilly to slide along some objects with their power. Ms Piggy can also look away from her move direction when dashing along an object.
@Barbarossa2020 said:
Can be dsycn/lag i ran through a surv i had hit and he ended up behind me by quite a bit.
Maybe it was a slide with some lag. There was a rock but it was before the turn.
I'm curious about that tech, I'll check, thanks.

No, it was a weird name and he lost in the end. Still, that move ...

I don't understand "mid burst" like mid lunge? or mid sprint? If it's during the start of the lunge it completely changes his direction. Also depending on the object and its length allows him to slide along it long enough to get a 90 degree turn.
Mid sprint.
No object. He didn't collide on anything to turn.

I stopped playing I think, maybe 2 months ago (I have been taking more and more breaks over the course of the last 2 years, they just get more and more frequent over time) and I actually counted the number of Nurses I got. You said 4 Nurses over 3 days. When I played consistently, I got 8-9 Nurses a day every day for a period of 5-7 days (for as long as I played). I don't know the times you play and your area, but every single match was exactly the same. All the time.
Lucky you. I'd love getting against more Nurses 😮.
I'm playing survivor during the afternoon and until the queues start to grow. Then I switch to killer.

Ah yes, that made up survivor everyone talks about but nobody actually has in their matches, ever.
I have yet to see a single person here, actually prove any claims they make about "I win most of my matches as solo against God Nurses lol get good"
The last time I received video footage of consistent good performances of people who play solo and claim "lol its ez" was... never once.
There are no such things as "God Nurses". I've been called that by survivors many times. You know how I call that? "I got lucky this time Nurse" or "I'm having a good day Nurse".
It probably stems from the same principles as the survivorship bias, but in reverse.
The Nurse is having good and bad games, and once in a while a great one.
The survivors getting her when she gets all the good reads and never misses a blink imagine somehow she does it in all her games.
I went against 4 Nurses these last 3 days. I've survived them all, "solo". Among the others, there were one or two kills, total. How? All my teammates were hard to predict and not wasting any time. One that almost got me as it took me two chases to understand her. I'm not saying I would survive a game against Supaalf but I'm having less than half his game hours.

I guess hag might not be the best to learn basic mechanics with since she's a pretty unique killer, but she is strong and can be difficult to counter even at high ranks. You're right though, she's more of a killer for more expirienced players, i might be a bit biased since she is one of my mains lol (also how is she bugged?)
Sometimes, the survivors aren't turned towards the trap anymore. Instead they are turned the opposite way.
Mitchi has a video or two about that. That's why now he is using the shackles.
There are two posts reporting this in the bug report part. I've timed links to videos from Mitchi to illustrate the problem.

I'm still waiting for that counter to her homing latency hatchets that go around corners, rocks, trees, thin air...
Low ping usually helps.
-
About Hag: Putting traps and attacking anything that triggers them will work to get kills but I wouldn't recommend it.
First, she is currently bugged. Second, one doesn't learn the basics with her.
-
Trapper or Wraith.
Both are kind of basic and intuitive. One puts traps down, one creeps up and do surprise-attacks.

He can change his look angle very sharply, but his heading will take a while to catch up.
If you mean he instantly changed his actual movement direction by 90 degrees and you're positive he didn't lunge, then it's very likely latency or desync. I've seen a few Onis do the same in the past and they had in common they were all laggy.
Of course, hacks are a possibility. But it's dbd, the game so well coded that it's impossible to tell apart features from bugs and cheats.
Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Of course with latency I may not see the real start of his attack, but the range was out there.
There are some issues since the last patch. Sometimes I see myself going from the hook to the ground without any intermediary animation. And yesterday some of my games felt sluggish, like if I was swimming in molasses.
I'm mostly curious to know if it's a normal tech I've yet to master with Blight. I've not recorded the game so even if it was a cheat, I couldn't do much about it.
-
@SuzuKR said:
Possibly lagflicking. People found a new way to do it after the old one was patched. The only way to hard 90 flick normally is either with Adrenaline Vial or during an attack.
Well, if the Blight continues four meters after pressing the attack button, it was that. Else ... cheating?

I don't have problem with noed as surv nor do I really use it as a killer because I never got value out of it.
I was just wondering because so many people complain about it. And some streamers consider it unhealthy for the game.
The opinion of streamers means exactly zilch. They are only entertainers and have their own biases. They often miss the big picture.
Some even do their analysis by looking at the outcome of games matching their pro level against the average (good) player and use that as "proof".
-
At best NOED gives you one down, very rarely more.
I suspect that it makes a lot of damage at low MMR but then the killer will soon learn the hard way it's not that useful and will improve or be sent back.
It's all fine.

The replies here are bizarre to me. The game isn't winnable if teammates are going down in rapid succession to a killer OP ran for 2 gens. What is the point in unhooking? It extends an unwinnable game. The killer would have to be wildly incompetent to lose if they have that much hook pressure
It's not unwinnable. Sometimes a killer snowballs but it doesn't mean he'll snowball again. The situation looked like there was a chance to do at least one save, probably two. If the killer doesn't camp three isn't out of the question but that would mean two or three escapes.
The guys were doing gens while he was kiting the killer along. That was team work.
Unless there is absolutely no chance for a save, I'd go.
When I play killer, I'm kind of pissed at survivors who are letting their friend die selfishly or cowardly. If it happens, I stop at nothing to kill that last one. (Usually the 3rd survivor gets the hatch) It's usually the good runner who dies though, the remaining one being a less experienced player with a tendency to hide when there is a killer on the map.
I hope one day BHVR will adjust the scoring to adequately reward the selfless heroes taking some risks to save the others. It may make some matches less boring too.

It wasn't me that brought up the secondary accounts, but if people are going to say "this is abusable because they'll DC and go onto another account" then they can just do that anyway.
Four times more, but good point.

I would suggest you report this in the bug part of the forums. Sounds annoying.
A survivor thought he had found a similar spot over a barrel right outside the Saloon, but there is an angle from which he can still be grabbed.

Reason: because.
How: somehow.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2932734#Comment_2932734
They would be down a player in the party, it's not the same thing.
And they could also just adds a feature that blocks anyone in the party of the DC'er from joining an swf for the duration of the timeout. They can go play solo.
And anyway the killer should have the option to DC too if someone else dc's.
P.S. Killer gets no point, really? Poor killer couldn't play a 3v1. How unfair.
It you care to read the comments, there were arguments given.
This discussion is pointless anyway. The devs aren't stupid, they will not to it.
What they'll do is replace
snowflakesrage-quitters with bots. -

They could all just DC and switch accounts anyway, especially with game sharing, your argument absolutely has no basis what so ever.
Would require more effort, especially to get the perks on their toons.

Nurse can kill everyone in 2 minutes
True: I've done it several times. But it requires a major "Everyone stays close to the killer while exposed" level of f-up. It's not exactly representative of anything relevant.
Against decent survivors, bar some major stroke of luck, it takes way more than 5 minutes to kill everybody. This is without taking into account the 3k, 2k, 1k and 0k (because : yes, it happens too)
-
So, basically you left them to die? It would be consistent with what you've said in another thread.

Well you said "I don't understand why people rush the gens" and I told you why. Not saying you were complaining that was more a blanket statement for the thread
But I am one of those people. I usually use iron will, left behind, sprint burst, and am basically planted on a gen all game.
If the team dies they die but the gens are getting done lol. About the only time I am not doing gens is because I am too busy being murdered. I am not stopping because my baby claud with 50 hours got 2 tapped by an M1 killer, someone else can deal with that I don't even want to bother saving those people because MMR should not even be putting them on my team
At 0:52 I would have rushed to the hooks immediately. It's a certain-death situation for the team. The killer cannot camp both hooks at the same time and there is still a chance to recover. But then the video is cut ...
-
You mean like all grouped together, or one in each corner?
Yes, they should ensure an even distribution.
-
What are you talking about? He is fun to play against. He is actually a challenge now.

Bzzt, wrong. It was a safe save. Safe saves are negated by tunneling which is why devs are apparently looking into options to give survivors to help have more counterplay to it, such as basekit bt
No, they are negated by camping, which many killers use as a counter to try to pressure against the speed at which the gens are popping.
--
If they make camping more difficult with something like a basekit BT, these killers will end up leaving faster they would otherwise have. And I'm pretty sure they aren't rare given how many people are complaining about this.
Also around the end of the game, camping is often the only valid move.

Just like some killers won't take a pity kill if you try to offer it, some survivors won't take a pity hatch if you offer it
I can relate to that but it's extremely rare (Maybe one over two thousands hatches, two if I count tonight). After a while, I've resolved to eat my pride and take the hatch anyway. Sometimes the killer was waiting for more than a minute and it felt both rude and a waste of time.

Happened to me once or twice since the last release.

Not implemented yet.

It is certainly annoying. You are basically telling you don't fear the killer though, so he may put that to the test.

Lmao you clearly don't play solo queue very often if your survivor games are "chill"
I've played survivor as SWF and solo, and I've played killer of course.
I don't find solo to be stressful at all. Annoying sometimes? Yes, of course. Some teammates are drooling idiots (If you put the heads of my last teammates together, you don't even get half a brain). But it's nothing compared to the tension you get as killer. It should be obvious too: a killer is always busy and pressed by time. A survivor not so much.
Needless to say : SWF is easy mode, so it's not even a contest.
-
I may be a bit of a masochist then.
I must say I'm enjoying survivor, even solo, way more than killer. But I do not like to wait for a game.
Besides, doing gens gets boring after a few games.

You realize to get a nice score (BP don't matter but it's nice to get them to keep track) you need to do saves and chases? I'm not sure you are getting many points past two gens.
I usually go to save the silly beginner (and then swear when they insist rushing to the corner of the map for a heal). I also run to the killer when me being hooked would be less damaging for the team. (I'm not too good either, unless against Nurse, Spirit and, in a lesser extent, Blight)

This much I can understand. Survivors played at the highest echelon in an organized team are definitely going to be awful to deal with. I respect the teamwork and cooperation it takes to achieve that though.
But the issue then lies with - with balancing a game for the highest skill level, the players below that suffer tremendously for it. And these high tier players are -always- the minority. There are far more casual, or lower tier etc players in this game than these mega players.
So to fix that imbalance between the 2 types of players--- why not a "ranked mode" -- somewhere these people can go and be sweaty and not ruin the game for the other people just trying to have fun. I dont know... but I for sure don't agree that games should always be balanced based on the best possible outcome.
One only needs to be able to hit the skill checks to do a gen-rush. It doesn't require high skill. Only the realization than doing one gen slightly faster is way less efficient than doing gens at normal speed but in parallel. I'd say a team of players with 3 or 4 hundred of hours (for a minimum of game sense and some life expectancy) could be able to pull it of. (Although an experienced killer can power trough them with shorter chases.)
The thing about a ranked/casual split is that the sweaty teams will be able to ruin the game for the casuals simply playing with them. Points do not matter that much when you have played for a long time. (e.g. I "only" have 2.5k hours and I've stopped caring about them a while ago.)
I'm not sure what the change should be. Maybe if getting a game over in 5 minutes wouldn't feel like such a waste of time, it wouldn't be that much of an issue. It could be as simple as taking that into account for the point distribution, or changing what is a win. It could be as complicated as making parallel gens counter-productive. If the fix was easy, it would have been implemented a long time ago.

To the people who are commenting about basement camping... scourge hooks revolve around hooking, and if the killer is camping, they're going to get less total hooks than if they were out running and hooking survivor normally.
It's a non-issue. Dont die by the basement and there will be no basement hooks to worry about.
It is an issue. If a killer camps in the basement, he will either be left alone until the survivor dies, or there is an high chance of a hook swap which will make the strategy more viable than it is now.
