I don't think I understand what this post or thread is about...
Is it about Legion being strong?
Is it about a lot of people playing Legion?
Is it about silly design directions?
I don't understand what the soul of this is intended to be or where it is supposed to be headed.
I'd say it shows some people assume that because they cannot be bothered to think and learn some tactics, everybody else must do the same.
This game is supposed to have killer variety and for each killer there should be a different counter. Then again some try to play the same against Trapper they would against Spirit, Legion or Nurse. And when it clearly doesn't work they cry unfun and nerf.
-
Are you kidding? It made me want to play Legion more. I'm kind of bored playing always the same few killers.
The buff wasn't that big but at least now he can do something (and is even good with rare addons)

You can't swap items once the countdown reaches 5, but the killer also can't make changes to their build at 5 either.
Yes, not ideal.
Oh drat, I should have written "it only allows the killer to dodge" ...

It’s pointless. Smart survivors will last second switch anyways. And then everyone can enjoy a requeue experience when a whiny killer dodges!
Which reminds me, we should add a suggestion to prevent swapping items once the 5 seconds limit has been reached (or the 15 one, I'm not sure what's best)
I'll post one right now.

Look up, or down, or turn. Flashlights are fine.

I do not nod, beat people on hook, or bleed survivors out because I believe the game is survivor sided. It is, but I would have done that regardless.
Never change 🤣
-
Why? They usually means survivors will throw the game to get some saves (and die trying).
I love flashlights.
-
I suspect the problem is with the computer. If the enclosure has some kind of stain in the shape of an apple, it's a symptom it should be replaced. 😁
-
As killer nowadays I do a lot of tunneling with a side of camping to punish a gens-before-friends and ensure a stage hook. Bleeding out is only reserved to specific teams built to make any other move unreliable.
As survivor I also get the tunnel and camp, which is fine. However sometimes a killer hits the hook and it's usually when I made him waste a lot of time or broke a hook, blocked, ... I get he wasn't happy. It usually makes me smile because, unless I go against Nurse or Blight, I'm really not that good.
It's kind of what the game is, as for the "BM" it really doesn't matter, be it from a killer or from a survivor. At best, it helps by wasting some time, at worst it's kind of sad for that person to be that way (because sometimes they are venting some personal problems).
It's only a game, cheer up.

Well it's easy to see which people are the type of people to only read the title of a news article and then get tilted by it.
So, I've read the post and I only use killing-oriented perks.
However, what I'm getting is that you are trying to get some frustration out by putting out some narrative.
Judging a playstyle, demeaning it but saying "It's OK" is a very poor attempt at manipulation and kind of arrogant.
Trying to reframe or saying people haven't read or misunderstood is a typical follow up.
---
To other players: play however you want AND don't let anyone judge your choices.
-
It varies greatly. However the last couple of evenings I've wanted to play, my first lobbies were fully equipped SWFs of several thousands of hours players. I wasn't using my main and wasn't in the mood for a sweaty start so I've played another game instead. Maybe the following lobbies would have been better.
-
How could he acquire the Demogorgon is the only question I have in mind.
-
As a Nurse you need to know all the maps to be able to blink blind efficiently and reliably.
-
I rarely see Oni nowadays. What was the music before and what was it after? When was it changed? Why?
-
I cannot speak for myself (I play both) but among my friends who only played survivor, the reason was that they found killer to be too stressful. (I was regularly pushing them to play killer, unsuccessfully, as playing a killer is the best way to learn to counter it.)

Oh yeah you're definitely correct. Spine chill is an extremely powerful information and awareness tool. I think it's fine, but that's because stealth killers give me heart attacks lmao
I really don't like to go against a stealth killer, and I always have Spine Chill.
-
I honestly don't know how useful it would be.
I'm all for options though.

Yes, I am familiar with that Bubba. Usually takes 70% of the game to catch someone if everyone's of equal skill in the team, and sometimes said Bubbas manage to botch their 1K. I don't know how some people get this bad but it happens.
Obviously if I'm playing solo the magic does happen. But then again, solos are easy.
Because it's possible to safely unhook from a camping Bubba. It requires some skill but it's definitively doable.

You mean the stutters who seem to have popped with the last update?

When you get The Game as Nurse: gg ezi! Haha.
When you get The Game as any M1 killer: I want to hook myself and move on.
Although, two strategically placed shadow steps in the game, and even the Nurse will be in big trouble. Remember detection is her main weakness.

Dead By Daylight needs to bring back their veteran players, new players probably won't cut it anymore, as most of the new players that came thanks to the Resident Evil Chapter left the game (pure speculation, but I don't think I'm wrong, the 'New Player DbD Experience' is the worst there is, and Steam charts said so, so I must be right), and Resident Evil was probably the biggest license we've received, and if that didn't cut it, I don't think any other license could
I'm pretty sure most of them have left already.
As for veteran players, these are usually on the higher MMRs and the game isn't really balanced around that bracket: do the math. If they are not maining Nurse or Blight, there is a good chance they are not coming back any time soon.
-
Releasing a worthless killer isn't unheard of. Have you already found another game? Always be prepared.
Oh, and if the killer is really good don't get your hopes up: it will probably be nerfed a couple of weeks after its release.

Use "Small Game" new players and learn the spots then maybe after you learn the
easyspots replace it with other perk.New players don't know many perks and own even less of them.
Imagine what it felt to start the game and be asked to hit these hard skill checks when even basic ones are often missed by beginners. Hunting for the bones was mandatory. Of course they had to know the perk was bound to a totem. Being beginners they didn't even know the predetermined spots either.
When the perk was nerfed I was annoyed but in the spirit of welcoming fresh blood, it was a good move.
(oh, and I wasn't talking about myself. I've been playing the game for years.)

it's not a good thing if all the new killers are... well... Legion.
You guys complained that we only had nurses and blight in the game, now there's only legion and somehow we can't complain.
this forum rain complaints about nurses and blights, but now we can't complain about precious and overplayed legion...
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2941022#Comment_2941022
it's not about he being OP, is about facing him 3~4 times in a row!!!
This will be solved automatically with each other killer being buffed into usefulness.

In insight, Ruin was making the game very unfriendly for new players while being next to useless against experienced ones.

I have so much dc and suicide when i play Legion. People are doing this for no reason.
You mean other than being entitled brats?
-
We can discuss this as much as we want, in fine we can only wait for the devs to announce their plans.
This months starts pretty stable in term of player loss (only ~2% so far). Any change from them is bound to influence this one way or another.
-
Indeed, I couldn't recall the name this morning.
-
Nothing wrong with tunneling. (For those in doubt: focusing on getting one survivor out at all costs, sometimes ignoring an easier down or some action that may seem more beneficial, "tunnel vision")
It's not fun but in the current state of the game, more specifically the destruction of the hit-and-run viability, it's the only way to have a chance to win against a good team using the best tactics.
(oooh, 2^10th post☺️)
-
Probably because there isn't much that's balanced against the survivor role, so all that's left is complaining about people behavior (or, for a minority, complaining about the few balanced things that forces them to actually learn something)
I'm curious to see what changes will happen when bots will fill the missing killers slots.
-
That's one gentle way to handle it.

No i meant making Ruin basekit without it being a hex (but i get your point). Btw the campers and tunnelers will go down in numbers if that happens, cuz the killer will have more time to go for chases. Cuz right now if the killer spends more than a minute in a chase, there goes 1 gen, or even 2.
Maybe, maybe not : I'm not sure how helpful it would be. Usually survivors are getting glued on the gens so as long as they are not disturbed, ruin will have no effect. It may push the "gens before friends" tactic even more.
Hex search time aside (which doesn't happen at high MMR IMHO), does ruin helps?
-
Since his nerf he needs a purple add-on to be effective, IMHO.
-
Took you 4k hours for that? :)
(I'm sorry, it's rude but it's funny)
-
To my eyes, this is the worst crime in the game.
Yes, worse than cheating. The cheater ruins the game for everybody but, in his corrupted way, "helps" the team.
These kind of stains ruin the game and are traitors to their team.
Both must be banned forever.

How do you feel about basekit Ruin to help slowdown gens?
Ruin lasts 25 seconds.

Funnily enough, BT is one of the only things that will trigger me into tunneling. Specifically BT bodyblocking. If an unhooked survivor with BT insists on keeping themselves between me and the unhooker, they've just bought themselves an express ticket out of the game (if I can do it without throwing).
And this is in large part due do how much it irritates me as a surv; when I risk my butt to unhook you and you just stick around the killer (and often end up going back down), it's really aggravating. Run, gtfoh, ffs.
Oh, that one ☺️. How many unhooked survivors have run at me, blocking, waiting for their hit, only to see me patiently wait a few seconds and down them. Usually I take the DS and show them the error of their ways.
They usually don't enjoy it one bit though.
-
Would it be so hard to store a file with
_ the parameters of the map,
_ the players and their setup
and then, for each tick
_ the positions and actions of each actor in the match
_the progress and state of each generator
_the egc start
It could be kept in memory before being stored to disk at the end of the match, or directly stored, encrypted.
That way a report would be easier and checking for cheats would be easier.
It would probably need to be stored server side too, to avoid cases of tampering.

do u really believe that? because what i say is what everyone says, her distance addons are dumb, and her recharge addons are very strong, the counterplay is make distance with some gimmicks tahty may or may not work, but is impossible even if she messes up when she has distance, because she can cut all that distance cause extra range, so i messed up?= doesnt matter the extra range will clean that mistake and can do it all game A LOT of times, as many as needed unlike dead hard for example, only 1 per chase, not as many till u go down. so why dont you try better?.
The extra range does nothing of the sort.
If a Nurse manages to get to you using the extra distance of the first blink range, given the time it takes to charge, given how clearly it announces itself, given how much additional precision is required and given you had all that distance to escape her tracking then it's entirely on you. Stop being so predictable and pay attention to her hand. (Or do you expect to win against high skill without doing the bare minimum?)
You could also try to play the Nurse, win a lot of games (soooo easy, right?) and see how actually good survivors are cleaning the floor with you, addon or not.
Strangely only one poster here seem to have followed that advice so far. Probably because it requires quite some work and complaining is easier than getting good.

I'm calling that an impossibility because it is. It can be dampened but that's all.
You have a very peculiar perception of all this. I'm in no mood to dismantle and explain everything so I'll go away now.
I know there was a huge wave of a ban <-> I said there was no indication of anything being done.

Dude I was a player killer in Ultima Online, the original toxic playstyle that started the PVP genre. The way we played literally made them do the first "nerf" to which the word originated. Words like griefing originated due to our playstyle before it was considered "griefing" we just enjoyed killing other players. IN UO we could kill you and loot you, way before PUBG existed. We also camped corpses hard to where you couldnt even log back in.
I was teabagging people in World of Warcraft with my feral druid like decades ago it seems
DBD is like toxicity lite compared to the old days, in DBD you call someone a word and they think you toxic.
Actually, Ultima Online wasn't the first. Even if we ignore the pre-graphical games (MUDs) there were many other games including PvP before (Of all types, MMORPG included) and being sometimes nasty was part of the deal. What UO had, beside an insanely bad technical design, was true freedom. The PK city built in the swamp was, to this day, unique. It was a lot of fun. I wouldn't call that griefing : it was only the closest thing you could get to a real RPG.

@drsoontm I said there was no indication of anything being done. As cheaters and hackers are still here, ruining it for the rest of us as strong as ever. The WAY they're going about it is a failure. Calling something an impossibility just because it hasn't happened yet is a bit previous. Also, the fact that Piraters can also get away with having for free what I paid for and playing with all of us on the same servers is broken. No other online game allows piracy to join the real servers, except DbD. All pirated games online are dedicated servers specifically for the people who have a cracked version of the game.
So you don't know about the ban wave?

This is an excellent topic about the killer lag advantage: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/303696/busting-some-hit-registration-myths/p1. That's what is happening.
Nope.
When a killer acts, what he does is validated by the server. That's why there so many cancelled hits and grabs.
Another fact: some survivor cheaters start lagging in a chase because it makes them so hard to follow and to hit.
It's enough to disregard any claim of killer lag advantage.
-
You don't understand how this works. They've succeeded removing a lot of cheaters. Blocking them all forever isn't something that's likely to happen.
At some point they'll have validation about typical cheater tells on the side of the server and they'll be able to get more of them. (Maybe they already have such mechanism and are silently amassing data about them)
Also, you need to contact EAC about your ban (note : usually ban posts are locked)
-
It may change once the map is better known and exploited but so far I kind of like the map, both as survivor and as killer.
