Not impossible with Nurse lol. She is powerful even without an add-on, and she becomes even more powerful with an add-ons. Pallets in the game, but you can't drop them, because even if you drop them, you can't stun her. The Nurse against of you must be a rookie, so that you can stun her
Given your statements about her, I'm not sure you are in a position to call anybody a rookie.

You have both proved the point in spades with these statements:
if anything that involves guesswork, anticipation, or uncertain prediction in this game is considered a 'mind-game', then literally every faculty within Dead By Daylight is.
My friends, you're saying that the minute decision to walk in any particular direction at any time for any reason is a 'mind game' if it is at all influenced by knowledge of the opponent's actions; which, at its core, is every fiber in the tapestry of this game's design. If your definition of mind game is any action made based on your opponent's action, this is the truth.
No. That's not it. Your paragraph seems to be missing how the influence works. It's not about prediction or knowledge. It's about influencing each-other. Poker? A bluff? Does that helps?

If you get destroyed by an M1 killer, maybe it's not where the problem lies. I've killed teams with Nurse without blinking even once. (Yeah, the MMR is that good sometimes xD)

i have, i main killer and id take literally any other boon than coh because they have the chance to not work at all when coh does in every situation par plague. i can see the blood with shadow step, i might not even slug if there's a exponential and if there's a dark theory, i going to be honest, idk because i havent versed it really at all.
We all have our specialties I guess. I play both roles but nowadays I'm mostly Nurse or Huntress (friends aren't playing anymore)
Even a single shadow step is trouble for me: I can either
- try to find a survivor I'm guessing is there but since he was able to run and hide without a mark trying to find him takes time (while the others are doing gens).
- give up and look for another one who may or may not be under the same kind of boon (and in a team, they usually are)
It's the reason now, when I find someone I don't let him out of my sight and I ensure he dies. Sometimes he can even carry one of the boons which is double bonus.
Killing one survivor fast isn't much of a problem for me, unless he is very good. But even a very good survivor will go down and preventing healing (we lose points when we don't) isn't too difficult. Dark theory is troublesome depending on what killer I play.
The conclusion is always the same : tunnel, don't let go, push out, DCs is a bonus.

BHvR should just shadow ban cheaters instead of explicitly banning them.
Place them in lobbies with other cheaters or bot killers/survivors. Don't tell them anything and slowly phase in the frequency at which they are placed in these lobbies so its really hard to tell the difference.
After a few months of them being placed in such lobbies issue the ban wave.
Only idiots wouldn't notice they are always against the same names ... oh, wait ...

i dont quite agree with this because than the other boons would be an issue aswell. i think what makes coh better than the others is that it counters a handful of killers and also doesnt need any brain power to be places whereas the other boons need to be places smart and even then, its a dice roll.
Ever tried to verse 2 or 3 boons on a small map? No tracks almost anywhere? Unbreakables? +2% speed?
I have, several times, and it's really not nice. (Shadow step annoys me way more than COH)
-
A joke? The iri hatchet is monstruous.
I love the Huntress (second favorite killer) but that addon is way too strong. It feels cheap and very unenjoyable IMHO.
I've used it once or twice and it felt like I was cheating ...
-
The problem isn't the perk itself, it's the boons mechanic. Boons need to be breakable, or limited by some tokens (A suggestion I've heard somewhere).
In their current state, they'll end up being nerfed into uselessness.
They also promote tunneling. (As they guarantee to lose all pressure otherwise)

64GB of RAM
RTX 2080
Only nvme 3GB/s storage, the one for games are not using the same pcie lanes as the one for OS.
I got a ping of 32ms on the server. I've also noticed in one occurrence, the other players had 60ms to the server, which is on the low side.
The game turns at 120fps even during the stuttering.
A wide range of machine seem affected.
ergo : In my opinion it's not the machine and probably not the connection. It's either all their servers, either region related.
Consoles vs PC may be interesting to know in case it's a problem of resource usage, which would spike more on slower machines but the location is the first candidate I'd like to isolate.

It's always cute when your are matched with beginners.
But when you are the killer you realize three of these guys will need to die else their MMR would rise as they've won against an experienced killer and yours will drop a lot and you may be sent against more of them.

Uhh... did you read what I said? Because you're acting like I said that Nurse was anything like those killers, and you'd be right to criticize me if I did.
I didn't say that she was at all like any of those.
I was saying that sidestepping a projectile/spinning to avoid a lash or dash is not a 'mind game'. Plain and simple.
You don't 'mind game' a Huntress Hatchet by stepping to the side.
And in that split second before, when it's a joust of predictions - the level of play makes it a total gamble - Like the Sherlock Holmes poison pill. You can hedge your bets, but it's still a bet. That's my point. Not that they were like Nurse or that survivors should play the same against the Nurse, just as an illustrative example of the difference between 'outsmarting' an enemy with a mind game and using chance to dodge a projectile.
Also, uhh... You do know that as a nurse - you can look down to ostensibly cancel your blink, right? If survivors double back, you can fatigue yourself to keep yourself in position or stunt your distance appropriately. It helps when cheeky survivors double back or when you change your mind about things.
You're talking as if Ii haven't played as her before or something - as if we both haven't played the game for thousands of hours.
All in all, no complaints about what you said - I just feel like you got the exact wrong idea of what I was saying. I hope this helped clear that up.
We're going to have to disagree on what constitutes a mind-game, though.
Forcing a player to choose correctly to win is called booting up the game. You are not mind-gaming by running around a window or standing at a pallet while they do a little dance trying to predict where you're going.
The game is all about making tiny choices, you already have to make the right choices or you lose.
Showing your red-stain to trick a survivor into a dedicated vault that you punish at an LT isn't 'Forcing them to make the right choice', you have provided false stimuli to provoke them into dedicating to what they believed to be the right choice. By feeding an opponent misinformation in the joust, you entice them to play into your hand. That is the nature of a mind-game. Crouch behind a generator to make it look like you lost a DS, you have starved the killer of the basic information to "make the right choice" because you have fed them misinformation. If you feed someone a lie to trick them, this is quantifiably against the definition of "Forcing them to make the right choice" because you have removed the very nature of a choice through misinformation. If you hide your red-stain as Ghost Face and moon-walk crouch by a window when a survivor isn't looking, they believe you're on the other side of the wall, looking the wrong way - expecting the wrong things - completely ignorant of the danger you have placed them in as they round the corner.
There is no 'right choice' to be made here, you have removed their ability to make the right choice by making them believe the lie that you were somewhere that they were not. Even if they were to deduce that you were making a play, but had no idea where you were, how are they supposed to know what the 'correct' option is? You are incapable of forcing a survivor to make a 'correct choice' if you are confusing them and corralling them towards a mistake.
Not all 'you messed up' situations are mind games - but all mind-games are designed to cause your opponent to mess up. However, this is done by forcing a commitment through false information, or a lack of usual information. There is no 'mind game' where you are positioned where your opponent thinks you are, but likewise, there is no mind game unless you are attempting to trick your opponent into doing something specific.
If you hide in a locker, you may have avoided the killer by not being where they think you'd be, but it isn't a mind game.
And once you're in direct contact with the Killer, all mind-games are out the window, there's no misinformation to give, positions to subvert, or expectations to play off of. The killer will try to hit you and you will try to force a miss or tank the hit.
Just because your opponent does something silly or disadvantageous does not mean you outwitted them with a mind-game.
Just because your opponent played into your hands does not mean you outwitted them with a mind-game.
Just because you played into the hands of your opponent does not mean they outwitted you with a mind-game.
Just because yo did something silly or disadvantageous does not mean your opponent outwitted you with a min-game.
However, if you or your opponent - in a duel - feed one another false information to illicit a favorable outcome, you are mind-gaming.
It's not about agreeing to disagreeing.
There are so many points where you seem to ignore what the situations really are ...
The hatchet in a chase is about mind games. Kind of the same as against a blink except harder as the Huntress can cancel the throw. (And retry immediately up to 6 other times)
Aren't you looking at the killer when you run? Aren't you looking at him to know what he will do and where? (If not, you'll get there.) This is used both sides to influence and, yes, mind game each other's next move.
And this is only one example of the kind of mind games involving an hatchet throw.
Plays who try brute force and simple random reactions will get downed fast by a killer who mind games his hits (or blinks). (Huntress is my second favourite killer.)
It seems difference of experience and skill do matter.
edit: autocorrect correction

Apart from, hiding, breaking line of sight from Myers and ducking hatchets. Crouching does little else.
What do you care if someone button mashes at you rather than run away?
If survivors crouching is upsetting you then frankly its just you upsetting yourself, it can't hurt or oppress you in any real fashion, it can't even impact your play.
All the cost of BM'ing is born on the survivor who BM's.
They mash their equipment,
They waste their opportunities to make distance,
They burden themselves with a huge RSI strain on their digits especially console players. Look up the conditions trigger thumb and game keeper's thumb if you repeatedly BM that's your future so enjoy the gimpy claw hands.
Its like trying to take revenge and aggravate your opponent by punching yourself in the face, I say go ahead BM all you want.
Its just stupid and its not gonna force me to make mistakes because it doesn't provide any benefit in of itself. So why would I let it upset me?

Not really.
In WOW we have a guy called Lich King even though he is not an actual Lich. In adventure time "The Lich" is just the embodiment of evil from a comet that wiped the Earth. Voldemort from Harry Potter is considered a Lich due to how he split his soul.
You can't call anything undead or something a Lich unless it fits the basic requirements of calling a "Lich".
If BHVR based on Elder Scrolls and DND then it would be a Lich. Also have to say Elder Scrolls Liches are lot better in my opinion since it dives deep into it but also they are more powerful compared to DND.
Would recommend reading about Dragon Priest Hevnoraak or......Mannimarco even though that guy is just a joke when you compare what Hevnoraak's power could have been if the Dragonborn did not kill him.
Not really what?
The WoW guy falls into the ersatz category.
I don't know adventure time, looking at the pictures from Google, I don't think I would even consider having an opinion about it.
Voldemort certainly fits the bill for a Lich.
Yes, agreed.
I honestly cannot recall where there is a Lich in Elder Scrolls. How are they different? DnD has series of books so the lore is quite extensive.
Thanks for the suggestion but I've not been into that stuff for a long long time. 30 years maybe. I still recall some of it fondly though.

Almost as if SWF should automatically bump up a team's rating by default, instead of pretending that it's not an objective power jump for one side thanks to secondary programs being run outside of the game.
Indeed. But if I recall it has been said SWFs only have a 10% higher escape rate (give or take). So the offset of point makes sense but shouldn't be too high.
On another hand, the soft limit should make this kind of irrelevant. Once their score is high enough, no amount of increasing it further will change anything in the match making.
-

You're not getting "smurfs." If you haven't played since before the MMR, then you have somewhat of an average MMR (iirc) and you will need a few games for it to give you a more accurate rating.
It has nothing to do with my rating (and I've only been away since after the tests). It's about a 70 or so hours playing like a several thousands in a several thousands of hours SWF4. The guy has already got his MMR adjusted in that many hours.

- I've not noticed the one that I've not noticed : yes. I doubt they are legion though. More often than not I'm suspicious of genuine moves (but I record my games, so I can double-check). - "Même"? The imbalance and absurdity of many situations makes it more akin to a Mario Party than anything else. It's certainly not competitive nor to be taken seriously. If it aims to be, it's critically failing so far. Not that I don't enjoy the game.

I think that's more of a myth than a rule. A feeling of inadequacy or an inability to handle loss to the extent that someone is willing to cheat doesn't imply the person is actually bad at the game, they stem from more deeply rooted character flaws. Barry Bonds for example used steroids but there's no denying regardless of that he was still extremely talented. Also supposedly something like 1/3 of online gamers worldwide admit in surveys to cheating at least occasionally so it's actually becoming a matter of a bad practice being seen as acceptable by a significant portion of the gameplaying populace. There's no reason to think that "people who are good at games don't cheat" is true because people who are good at games still lose to other people who are good at games, and it's the overly strong desire to avoid losing that drives cheating.
These are different fields with different stakes. We are talking about a party game. It's not even a competitive shooter.
I've done some checking. One of the reasons for cheating is low self-esteem. There is also another reason which is self-entitlement from badly raised individuals (no limits from the parent(s)). I found a complete study but I'm not in the mood to read a scientific paper. Maybe later.
So I'll simply summarize it as this. You are right : it doesn't imply it.
However, no cheater I've caught was good (And I've caught a lot. At some point I was getting up to three per night)

LOL, this is the part I don't understand. I think every killer knows that tunneling-off-hook-till-dead and face-camping is not fun to do. Yet killers players refuse to let tunneling-off-hook-till-dead and face-camping to be nerfed.
It would make the game more fun for killer players, because, as long as tunneling-off-hook-till-dead and face-camping exist, the game will always be balanced around those 2 tactics. But whatever, I'm losing faith in the developers to fix major problems, they're too busy making paid content instead of fixing problems that driving players away.
My last pause was because I didn't want to keep playing like that. I was hoping the next patch would fix this a bit. It didn't.

Perfect Solution
Does not have to be 100% DND related. In elder scrolls once the ritual is complete the Phylactery destruction does not matter anymore to kill the Lich.
Tons of different version of Liches in Fantasy media so does not have to fully revolve around DND

Top 10 Liches in the Media
I understand the usual reasons that spawn a diluted ersatz. But then it's only a caster with a skeleton appearance. Calling them a Lich is like calling a cat a lion.

She can’t chase via pure move speed (without meme-tier add-ons)
She has teleport, which is much faster than any killers walking speeds, of course she doesn't walk. This is like saying the Nurse can't use her bike all-the-while she's driving everywhere in her Lamborghini. Well let me tell you, every other killer is riding a bike while the Nurse is keeping hers in the trunk of her Lamborghini.
she can’t utilize Bloodlust
Again, she teleports. Would you really walk when you can teleport right on top of people.
window blockers are basically irrelevant to her
So the Nurse ignoring windows that every other killer has to deal with, is a downside...
she can’t use a normal lunge either (her lunge post-blink is 5.667m compared to the standard 6m, her regular post-blink is 3.333m compared to the standard 3m, to punish inaccurate blinks and better reward accurate ones).
Every other killers teleport-lunge is much worse than Nurse's teleport lunge. When I was teleport-lunging with Trapper, it just didn't seem to work.
---
I'm going to list the downsides to each killer.
- Nurse: Some Mindgames
- Trapper: Mindgames, Windows, Pallets, Loops, Walls
- Wraith: Mindgames, Windows, Pallets, Loops, Walls
- Billy: Mindgames, Windows, Pallets, Loops, Walls
- Michael Myers: Mindgames, Windows, Pallets, Loops, Walls
- Hag: Mindgames, Windows, Pallets, Loops, Walls
- Doctor: Mindgames, Windows, Pallets, Loops, Walls
- Huntress: Mindgames, Windows, Pallets, Loops, Walls
Do you notice a pattern here. 1 killer in the entire DBD roster gets to ignore everything except for mindgames. And by the way, the Nurse can actually ignore a lot of mind games that every other killer doesn't get to ignore. Specifically, the Nurse ignores every mindgame that doesn't break line of sight.
So if a survivor is on the other side of a short wall, all the other killers have to try and force the survivor toward the shortest side of the loop. Nurse just teleports across and completely ignores the short wall.
Nurse is not and will never be balanced while she can teleport through objects.
You are wrong about the downsides of the Nurse. If it's all you know I'm betting you are having and hard time against her. Check some streamer tutorial, there are plenty available.
You are also incomplete for the rest of the killer list.
-
My DnD days are far (was it 2nd edition already when I stopped?) but the Lich has two essential caracteristics.
- Being an archmage, it is almost certain death.
- It's one vulnerability is its phylactery that, once found, allows to destroy him.
How would this fit in the constraint of a killer without losing most of its substance?
-

I don’t think that’s correct about cheaters not playing as well as people who don’t cheat. For example there was an Overwatch ban wave where something like 10-20% of the top rated players in the game got ousted, including former tournament players. And this recent DbD ban wave hit subtle cheaters as well because it was based on some kind of software detection versus ingame tickets. Plus in order to have the incentive to go out of your way to figure out how to cheat in DbD you already have to be playing the game enough that you are clearly really into it and play quite a bit.
Cheaters usually do to to compensate their utter lack of confidence (or the confidence in their utter lack of competence if you will).
A competent player will not need cheats. Usually competence comes from a combination of training and the will to compete and measure oneself against the others.
I'm not saying there are no exception, just that it's the general rule.

The point to make is not even dead hard in my opinion, i think most players enjoy chases even if they go a bit longer and when you fight against an individual who can keep up and counter you thats quite interesting but you dont have time for that and instead of boosting the interesting and skillful part of the game BHVR limits it.
The thing is that going for alot of chases is not a viable strategy vs players that are good and better because you can do gens so quickly. As long as 4 players are alive gen defence is a fight against windmills and not a viable strategy either. From the beginning of the game you are in a loosing position and have to keep a certain momentum to avoid getting stumped and create momentum to be able to get a single kill.
Whats left when neither to go for new chases after a hook nor gen defence are viable strategies vs the gen rush. Camping, tunneling sluggin which is honestly the last stronghold killers have. The most boring part of the game is left over right now and if BHVR would boost the survivors even more to overcome this the killers are done.
If you wanna push the game in a healthy direction, give the killers enough time to chase through fixing the broken objective time of the survivors. Once this is done you can punish the braindead tunneling and camping into the ground and noone would shed a single tear.
100% right.

Boons will never and should never be limited. If they were, they would need to be a lot more powerful which I'm sure nobody wants.
Tunneling because you're mad about boons won't change anything. You'll still be mad about boons at the end of the match, and survivors will still be upset about being tunneled.
Actually, if they get limited I'm fine for CoH to return to its previous or even original state, depending on the limit type.
And I'm not mad. I simply state: given they exist, I came to the conclusion I have one option. I'm certainly not the only one. Hence tunneling is to be expected for the foreseeable future.
However, given the amount of rage quit I've got in one night (I use to get one, two at most, per week), I suspect some players are mad about this.

Only inexperienced Nurse's do those things. You can't do anything against a good Nurse that knows what she is doing.
Yeah, I'm sorry to still be inexperienced after 2.5k hours and more than 18k blink attacks. Imagine how insulting it is for these teams who regularly call me a "god Nurse" (*) but were in fact destroyed by a beginner.
I'm sorry for SupaAlf too, as he still make these "beginner" mistakes from time to time after more than 5k hours, despite being one of the strongest Nurses out there.

On the contrary, yesterday when I posted a screenshot of a somewhat recent match of a Nurse with ‘the build’ and the purple range add-on getting a 1k, with me as a solo.. crickets. No replies how it could have possibly happened, the thread basically died. And all I had for chase/evasion was Sprint Burst.
Nobody to suggest the Nurse was AFK? Strange, usually there is always someone to find the worst excuse to fit his narrative.
(*) To which I invariably explain : there is no such thing, it's just "survivorship bias" (look it up). I just had a one good match and they were on the receiving hand.

If you see a topic you don't like feel free to keep on scrolling.
It's more that they are spread on several pages. I didn't know anything about this and I noticed that coming back from work.
Having them together they would neatly fit in one page.

There's alot of posts made in General Discussions that belong in other parts of the forum.
Yes, and they are usually moved ^_^ (well, mine usually end up being moved)

What nerf?
Boons are still an unlimited fifth perk with barely any downside.
Until they are somehow limited (can be destroyed, have tokens, ...) the situation will not change.
In my last few games, after the first hook and two first gens, boons are always popping. Usually there is one or two of them. CoH but also Shadow Step or Exponential. Ever tried to chase survivors with barely a track on the map?
If anything, I've decided to not even wait for the first boon to pop anymore. I tunnel from the get go now.
Boons exists : tunnel it is.

the fact remains that a decent nurse has an easy time hitting a very good survivor whereas other killers don't have it as easy.
there is literally nothing viable you can do against a nurse. atleast vaulting and throwing pallets wins you some time against blight or spirit.
match a 200 hour nurse against a 1k solo que squad and the squad will probably loose. nurse does not have the highest skill ceiling. her power is not that complex. it DOES comes down to muscle memory, blink close, blink closer, hit. anticipating movement is something most killers have to do to score a hit as making split second desicions is. there is obviously going to be p1ssed off nurse mains who will loose the ability of playing killer if she ever gets nerfed and i'm fine with that. the month nurse was disabled was probably the most fun month to play survivor
ROFL, certainly not xD.
Anybody wants to demonstrate? It should be easy shouldn't it?

There's not enough space between the soft cap and a fresh account to do any significant MMR funny business. It's why SBMM is broken in the first place and turns into a circus at peak hours. Probably not allowed to discuss specifics, but the soft cap wasn't lowered by "just a little bit". You're literally 150 points away from a fresh account if you're at the soft cap and draw an opponent from the max 350 range.
Yes, I understand the math.
