I would hate this. I have all killers and survivors prestiged (only p1 for new killer and survivor so far though) and am still missing a tonne of perks on a lot of characters. If I had to get to p100 to start unlocking the perks I actually wanted I would cry...
I think there's a misunderstanding lmao. I'm just saying to add more Prestige tiers so players have something else to grind for and actually challenge themselves by restarting but also get a unique reward. Don't worry I doubt they'll lock any perks behind a Prestige 100 wall lol
-
Yea it's an incredibly inconsistent power. You really have to focus and try hard if you want a remote chance. I find him fun but I don't find losing every match because his power is so weak fun.
-
The devs like being creative and have shown their distaste for what they call bandaid patches that only buff a killers stats to make them better rather then actual changes to improve their game play.
I doubt they will do anything to his movement speed or the amount of blades it takes to down someone.
The second issue is figuring out a good way to buff him that isn't underwhelming but also not OP with the addition of making sure there aren't bugs.
I personally think one of the main issues is main event as it's situational and doesn't actually do much for The Trickster especially with the recoil which I personally think is not needed at all.
-
From what I'm hearing, I do hope they actually do give him some immediate buffs to help him out. Unlike the knee jerk Freddy incident, instead of people yelling that he's overpowered because they don't know how to fight him, everyone is saying he's unplayable because his ability is trash.
After playing a couple games I can agree. Although it's a super cool concept and it is a bit fun, you are guaranteed to lose against good survivors if you 1. Don't have good perks and 2. Aren't being a sweaty try hard with their eyes glued to the screen.
-
I think it's because of his power. It's like nurse in the idea that it's fragile and anything you do it can make him OP or downright unplayable. I'm sure there are ways to buff him but to test out, tweak and make sure there are no bugs within the span of a week is kinda impossible for a game like dbd. Plus they have numerous other things to look at that arguably much more important right now, which is ranks as from what I've seen it's been extremely tough for new or casual players as they've been going against the sweaty try hards when they shouldn't even be near each other.

Here's mylist of buffs that I think would make him good
1 bounce is base
2 trick knives make the knives bounce again and do the additional laceration only if it bounces 2 times
3 one of these 2 things
Laceration takes longer to decay
or survivors have to take 1.7s to remove 1 bar of laceration to their character removing the decay all together at a max of 12s to remove
All of them
4 reduced the recoil effect this one is for console players because I heard some pc players were struggling with it
When it comes to recoil we'll just have to wait however I doubt it will be a problem. It's only a problem for those who don't play any shooters like cod, rainbow or any game that has recoil.
Like any game it just takes practice and getting use too especially when it comes to something like recoil on console. We're pretty good at managing it. With Huntress amd deathslinger you have to make the perfect shot everytime by leading the shot and aiming properly, Huntress being harder then deathslinger. With Trickster he's more optimal for close range - medium but there is absolutely no point in trying to go far range without guaranteed misses.
I'd rather the devs focus on his power and movement speed then catering to those who aren't use to recoil.

Ah yes, let's ignore how it would feel for the survivors because it will make this killer stronger and infinitely much worse than Deathslinger.
If they want to buff him, they'll find out somehow.
Not lose laceration in chase, decreases the blades required to lacerate someone by 1 or 2, increase his ammo, fire rate, etc...
We know those options are just bandage fixes in the eyes of the devs. Hopefully they just buff his numbers and little but at the same time hopefully they don't give some wachy out there buff that makes no difference but for some reason was somehow suppose to help because hey its outside the box and that's all that matters.

It takes 7 blades to lacerate someone.
So 7-14 seconds? Absolutely no.
What happens when I get hit by ONE blade? I have to mend in 1-2 seconds or I die?
No thank you.
The idea of mending is straight forward and it gives the Trickster time as he has zero gen pressure. Survivors waste time mending and Healing, the less time they're on generators.
I do think the 1-2 second per blade though is overkill especially if you get barraged with blades that only do 50% rather then 100% damage.
-
I think the issue is the fact they're short handed courtesy of Covid, another thing being that not every killer can have their power visually changed like Myers and Ghostface mainly cause they physically do nothing but stare. You can't change trappers traps because it's an immediate disadvantage.
The last thing being the amount of work that would need to go into making ability cosmetics for every character in the game, some not even able to get ability cosmetics.
I do get that some killers would look really cool with their non-changable weapons actually having some cool designs like nurses blink, Billy's chainsaw or Plagues puke being rainbows. I don't know but at the same time I'd prefer they work on more important things and you have to admit they would just recolor a handful of them instead of create cool affects with no guarantee your favorite killer will get anything.

Alright, let me try to provide rebuttals for these...
0 gen pressure:
How often are you trying to interrupt generators at 95%? Cause that doesn't happen to me all that often. Even if Trickster does end up in that position, he can just... walk about 22 meters in the time it takes to throw 16 knives. He can just bat you off the generator if he really needs to interrupt you.
No snowball effect:
Fun fact about Trickster, he can throw 8 knives before Huntress can fully charge a single hatchet. More fun facts, Deathslinger's whole Shoot, Reel, Stab, Wipe weapon, Reload routine takes longer than Trickster throwing 16 knives. Sure, all those knives do need to be heading at the one Survivor, but the guy can get those knives out really fast.
No power pressure:
15 seconds. It takes 15 seconds before laceration starts falling off. That's a fairly long time. If the Survivor is able to loop Trickster for that long without taking a knife hit... you shouldn't be using your knives there. Why do you think Trickster is the shortest ranged killer? Its because that way he can pull off normal M1 mind games at loops where Huntress, Slinger, and Plague would all be too tall to do that. I am fully expecting this guy to need to do a mix of slapping people with his bat and throwing knives and not be Huntress who may as well always throw a hatchet.
M1 remove the laceration:
Easy solution... don't M1 someone who's close to max laceration. You have 60 of your little neon throwing knives. Running out at a bad time is unlikely and honestly if you do run out of ammo at a bad time... that's on you. Especially since you might be able to pull out Main Event and have infinite ammo for a bit.
Now how about we talk about something that Trickster can do that Huntress and Deathslinger wish they could?
When you take a Huntress Hatchet to the back... you know that the next one isn't coming for... probably at least 2 seconds. That means you can milk the post hit speed boost for all its worth and she won't be able to punish you for it. Similar story against Deathslinger. You get shot and reeled while healthy and you can just book it after he stabs you because he's gonna be a 110% M1 only killer until he reloads and cuts his movespeed to 60% for ~2.5s. Now what happens if you get injured by knives? Well... the dude has 60 of the things in his pockets and can rapid fire them. He continues to be a threat even after his knives get you injured. If you decided to try to just hold W away from him and don't get behind something... you'd get 6 or more additional knives in your back before your speed boost runs out. You simply can't milk your post injury speed boost because his power doesn't allow it.
In addition to that... all 3 Killers get slowed by using their power. Guess who gets slowed the least... and has 2 add-ons to reduce how much he gets slowed even more? That's right, Trickster. Using his power loses him significantly less distance than Huntress or Deathslinger.
That is what Trickster has over Huntress and Deathslinger. With Trickster, the killer can be absolutely relentless in ways that those two simply can't. Now will that be enough to make him decent? I have literally no idea. I've generally decided that trying to guess how balance will shake out ahead of time to be incredibly difficult and a waste of time. However it bothers me to no end that seemingly no one can see the parts of Trickster's power that are undeniably better than Huntress or Deathslinger.
I Love this point as it also puts up his strengths as this post put down his very true weaknesses. Though I do see his main problem as despite being able to be relentless he still waste time chasing and has no way to get around the map quicker, in fact it's slower. If they buff his movement speed then I'd put him at an estimated higher level than plague and deathslinger

That logic means silent hill doesn't fit either, and we know that works fine. You are literally just reaching for a reason that doesn't actually exist; out of nothing more than dislike of the franchise itself.
We've seen they are fully capable of making something like this work if they wanted to.
I have never actually seen an argument against having FNAF anything in the game, that has any merit.
Yes but also no. I don't think you got the idea of what I was saying. Secondly I never said I disliked or had any dislike towards the fnaf games as I'm actually an big fan of the games and outrageously complicated lore.
Fnaf specifically, not Silent Hill or anything else is what I'm talking about. The nature of the fnaf games and the nature of it's characters just doesn't fit for me.
Either way at the end I don't care if they it or not, personally I'm just worried about how both the fnaf and dbd fanbases will tear a fnaf dlc apart both good and bad.
Then again it will never happen for another year given that Scott as expressed heavily that there will be no crossovers for the fnaf franchise.

It would be awesome. It would be nice to have something that genuinely creepy in the game.
Some of the stuff in DBD lately hasn't been that scary, not since maybe Oni. Deathslinger, Trickster, Twins....they are not really scary at all. I think that concept above is 5 times creepier than what we got so far.
People seem to just confused the game itself, with the audience generated from youtubers like markaplier and think they are the same thing. I've played the VR FNAF and it is scary as #########, a lot scarier than DBD has ever or ever will be.
The problem with this is argument is that your forgetting that these are two separate games. To you fnaf may be scarier but that doesnt translate into being a good fit for dbd as both games operate on game mechanics worlds apart from each other.
Adding in springtrap doesn't make something scary but rather adding him to dbd makes him just non scary as the other killers in this case.
Me personally I don't want him for the sole fact that it would be wasted and there's realistically no good way to put him the game without him being a let down to both fanbases.
-
The problem with all the good killers, nurse, spirit, etc. Is that they're delicate. It's no secret that even a minor change can make a killer like nurse either garbage or literally broken and beyond. Spirit I'm not so sure but you have to understand how fundamentally hard it is to remotely change Nurse but you also have to understand that she can't change until other killers become viable enough to play at high red rank competitive to which is very very few killers.
Yes she needs a change but it has to wait and come last until all the other killers are viable enough. Realistically no other killer can be as good as nurse is now or in the past but I believe they all the potential to be something close to what nurse is I'm their own unique way.
-
It's not exactly the best of ideas for the sole fact that it will be abused by toxic players depending on how its set up if there even is a right way. The best suggestion I've seen is reducing the odds of facing the same killer more than once(not the player but the killer themselves).
It gets boring to face the same killer yes but a good majority would only want it so they don't have to face a killer they find difficult. My problem being that people should take the time to learn how to counter these killers rather then have the option just to avoid them all together taking out the challenge of gaming in general.

I'd like to clarify that I think Doctor is perfect, but what I meant was that they should've reworked old Freddy's power in the same way that they reworked Doctor, which was a great rework imo. Change or remove the bad parts of the power, improve the good parts, and add a little more to make it interesting while redesigning the addons for all of it. An ideal rework would ensure that boring stall Freddy is no longer, and a much more interesting dream demon comes out of it.
Love the Plague idea. Going to pools can be suuuuper inefficient and by the time you're back in the map and chasing someone, you might only have 30 seconds left of it. Being able to grab it while in a chase at the cost of shorter duration and a little movement speed penalty is a solid idea. I do think she should also have some type of penalty that increases as someone works on generators/progresses the game in some way while sick, like a hindered status that gets stronger every X seconds interacting with something. The aim would be that it's not an immediate debuff, but something that worsens over time as you don't cleanse, putting survivors in more scenarios where they need to make a decision whether to cleanse or not and then eventually forcing the cleanse out of them because the sickness penalty is almost just as bad as her having corrupt.
Legion's is interesting for sure, and would be along the lines of what I would think is a good Legion rework. I'm still never going to be a fan of the idea of Legion downing with his power as it's not at all hard to hit, however, this idea you're proposing seems fairly situational and requires stabbing the entire team in one go, which can be countered by just splitting up. I'm not at all opposed to it simply because of that condition, but at the same time, it's definitely something that's not going to reach max power every game, sooooo...you're technically giving him more lethality, but you're also not. Thing is, I don't really see any other way of doing this without it being super irritating and too easy to do, so I'm not saying the condition is the problem, but the fundamental design with Legion is. The fact that Frenzy hits are so easy is what's always been his issue, unfortunately. I've considered some ideas that give him a whole separate chargeable ability that's not just an empowered feral strike, but nothing fleshed out.
I do like the idea though, you're definitely onto something there.
I think this kind of thinking plays a lot into what problems devs encounter when buffing or reworking killers. You risk making them too powerful, the buff doesn't do near enough or attempting a rework leaves you stumped. The reasons being that you have to maintain the identity of the character but it also requires resources because to make something new that's worthwhile. On top of that like you said, Legions base makes him very difficult to work with like many of the killers in the game. This applies to perks, game mechanics and killers all the like.

Way too many to count honestly. I just think every weak killer like Wraith, Trapper, etc. needs to be really buffed and all of the really powerful killers like Spirit, Nurse, etc. need to be way nerfed.
I think most killers should be around the Hillbilly/Demogorgon power level because their powers are perfectly balanced.
It's easy to say buff and nerf but people do need to understand how delicate good killers are. At the very least they should be always be left for last after the weaker killers become viable. If you nerf nurse the wrong way she becomes the weakest killer in the game 8/10 times. Other killers also can't just be buffed because then they become too powerful. It's easy to say nerf or buff but how we do that matters immensely
-
Because of Freddy's height and 115% movement speed, his body needs to compensate for that speed thus his lunge looks longer to compensate for distance and he LOOKS like he's moving faster when in reality he's moving the same speed as trapper, wraith and Clown. Sprint burst isn't a getaway for free and not get caught perk because any decent killer with half a brain can still find and catch up to you. If your right behind a survivor and they sprint burst while following them perfectly, you will still be on their tail.
Long story short any killer can catch up all the same as Freddy and vice versa unless they have a slower base movement speed but even then the slower killers who can track will still find you.
-
I don't get the fuss. Mainly because no other characters have a confirmed Sexuality with the exception of maybe some dlc killers but they can be put up for question as well. What I'm saying is that the player decides, you want a gay Dwight or pansexual David then you can. Maybe they're just straight. A character doesn't always need a confirmed Sexuality because that's for the player to decided. Is the Trickster gay? I don't know, maybe he is, isn't or he's just a really flamboyant man with a taste for theatrics
-
As much as I like the idea, I'd rather not have Nemesis in the game for the soul reason that he doesn't fit the game as well as you think. Making him a dbd killer is a downgrade from what he's actually capable of. A massive hulking monster able to break through solid brick walls with ease, take grenades to the face and still truck on like it never happened, downgraded into a killer that gets stunned by a peice of wood, can't break walls and with all that so called strength it still takes two kicks to break said peice of wood. I doubt they will pick Nemesis and if they do, the game play will NEVER live up to the experience players expect from a monster like Nemesis but there one thing I agree on. It would be scary as hell to be chased by Nemesis.
-
@Crazewtboy said:
As sad as it is, the horror aspect fades over time. There is nothing that can be done. As a survivor gains more experience they will become less and less afraid of the killer. There always is a few good jumpscares here and there courtesy of Myers though
The game shouldn't just be Jump scares though. That's the point and only 1 or 2 killers can actually jump scare while the rest can only chase
-
I like the idea of exchanging for bp but for those who have hundreds upon hundreds of items, they would have an unfair amount of yellow to maybe even pink items. Combining for a better item would make things go out of control in terms of items, again because of those who have saved up hundreds and hundreds of items
-
Here's how I look at it. You can't touch the top tier killers in this current dbd era because they're all killer have anymore. Nurse was an exception because she's still the top killer and Billy comes in second. Before you can even think about touching them, you need to fix the core game first.
If the dev's really started nerfing killers in the ways you are suggesting then killers will either leave the game completely or become more desperate to the point of pure toxicity because that's will be the only way to win. It will make killers camp more, slugs more and bring even more ebony's. Is that what you so desperately want survivor mains?
-
When Ghostface was released. I had my blood points saved up and got him too prestiged 3 in no time. The most fun I've ever had playing a new killer and he's still one of my favorites today though I certainly don't have as much fun as I use too today.
-
On the topic of ranking and the emblem system(which is probably off topic on this lost but...) If the dev's ever decide to fix the ranking so people go against people of equal skill, would it be wrong to set everyone back at rank 20 then just let everyone fall into the right place? I don't exactly what would happen and I'm probably wrong but it could filter out everyone despite the couple days of absolute chaos which is small price to pay.
-
Why do people keep bringing secret neighbor into this? Dbd is a completely different game centered around different core mechanics while Secret Neighbor is centered around the fake survivor concept. Though maybe in low ranks this killer could work but with gen rushing and swf it would generally be impossible to win with this kind of killer, not to mention that first hit the killer is suppose to get. If you make it an insta down then it's unbalanced but if it's not an insta down then it's a completely useless power.
-
I don't think any character has an official sexuality. Because of that, you don't have to ask that one of the characters be homosexual or whatever you want them too be. They can be whatever you want so I believe there's no reason to ask.
-
Ok, hear me out before you lose your mind on me. Mori's are extremely powerful, and are not hard to come by. I have at least 20 or more EM's on 6 killers.
I'm not saying this is a bad idea but I don't think it's necessary as of now to implement an idea like this. Mori's are powerful and do sometimes become common in the blood web. Maybe in low ranks an ebony might be a bit much but in high ranks I see it as more of a punishment tool for killers who are being bullied. Your idea is to implement a mori into the base kit of every killer and when expectations are met killer can then perform a mori. Maybe I'm not getting the full gist but I think it would be more simple to implement the cypress mori into the base kit. Given how endgame has changed I think it would be appropriate for the killer to be able to kill the last survivor without a an offering.
-
I dont get why survivors want things to be easier. It's not suppose to be easy at all

Perhaps they are just clarifying what adding another objective does balance wise telling us there are better ways to balance the game

But can't killers do that on there own without seeing their own bloodstain

Monitor and abuse is just fine where it is lowering your terror radiuse is enough. Also why would a killer want to see their own bloodstain?

What about betrayal a game mode where one survivor has to sabotage his teammates to help the killer. Such as messing with gens the exit gates or leaving trails for the killer to follow. Something along the lines of betrayal

I think they said something like this. The end game with only one survivor remaining, the end game should be a final standoff, intresting, intense and overall fun. But as the devs said "theres an easy way and right way".

Did everybody forget its the 2010 reboot freddy that behavior has and not Robert England's freddy Krueger
-
Mirror Myers is not ment to chase in Larry. I usually cut the chase then cut off the survivors. Mirror Myers only works because you can't see him coming or even hear his heart beat with monitor and abuse. Don't chase just hit back off then follow and hit again.
-
It's one of those situational perks. It screwed me over at end game as killer
-
You don't have to unhook someone, all you have to do is perform an altruistic action such as flashlight saves or just taking a hit when someone is on the killers shoulder. I'm pretty sure people overlook this aspect of the perk and play badly because they don't know there's other more simpler ways that help your team rather than ruining someone's game by farming them.
-
It's easy to run into the same survivors as long as both are in the same ranking group, plus it's stupidly easy to stream snipe someone. Though when I did it, both me and streamer were having fun playing a real match against each other.

The clown doesn't need to be touched in my opinion because he's mid tier right now but maybe a change here and there in the future to make him a bit more viable at high ranks.
