She has a variety of counterplay pre-nerf, and now she's been nerfed so she has even more counterplay. How is this killer still S tier to you? I have a friend who mained Spirit, and since her nerfs he really doesn't know what to do with her. "How do the devs even want people to play her?" he says.
-
If you're gonna cleanse all the totems, at least bring Counterforce or some other totem detection. You can also wait til NOED appears and just look for the totem. What ends up happening with noob survivors is they'll cleanse some totems, but not all of them, and the ones that they cleansed were the obvious, easy to see spots which means the NOED is gonna be in a really hard to find spot now.
-
I understand it, and the camping, as well. It just doesn't happen to me often, or my teammates could have done something to stop it.
I have no problem camping or tunneling as killer, even though I'll get badmouthed as "not being able to get kills without playing like that". You don't say?

Yea but I hate having to run the same addons every game. It’s like old wraith and windstorm.
Imo nerf discipline and make part of it basekit and he’d already be a lot better
Wraith still needs Windstorm.

where did they say that?
In that Q&A stream.
"This person asks, "Do you have any plans to make BT or DS basekit?""
"We have no plans to make DS basekit."
-
Most of the time for me, a cosmetic is either overall bad or overall good. But there is stuff like bald Deathslinger that I don't like. Just ruins the whole outfit.

If they made his detonation delay faster base kit and made his shock range longer I feel like people would actually play doctor more
At the least.
-
He's too weak, bro. He needs pink and purple add-ons to be semi-viable, and his anti-loop doesn't work half the time because the shock comes in so late.
-
@MilManson said:
Don't forget all the survivor second chance perks now.
And they're talking about making BT just a thing the survivors get baseline.

We need to balance for the top. If we do that, people at the top will be satisfied, casuals won't care (or at least they shouldn't) because they're not playing at that level anyway, and the players who are transitioning from casual to competitive players will reap the benefits of a balanced game as they get better.
I see a lot of people saying, "You can't balance for the top, or else killer would be OP at the casual level" because it's mostly killer that needs help at the top level. Let me explain why that's wrong.
1) People playing at a casual level have no place speaking on balance issues. They're not playing their best and they want to use balance changes to make the game easier for them, instead of learning and getting better.
2) Just because a killer gets buffed at the top level, which most likely would only make them viable up there, would not suddenly make the killer way over perform at the lower level. You have to remember that killers at the lower level are also inefficient and are learning just like the survivors they go against, so it's almost and impossibility that they overperform just from a slight buff.
3) It is the nature of the game for killers to seem OP at the lower level. Killers intend to kill, even if they're really bad at it, so they're probably going to. That's because survivors at that level don't even understand their objective. They think that if they just hide, or if they always prioritize healing their teammates before they even think about touching gens, that they're somehow doing well. The low level killer mindset is similar, because they think just holding forward in chase until they get the hit, or stopping to kick a gen every time they see one on, is gonna get them the win.
You cannot balance around bad players, even if not doing so results in an overblown kill rate at the bottom. If you do, what does that do to the players at the top? It makes survivors way too strong, and killer way too weak, to where one side has to put in little effort and the other side has to put in tons of effort. You can see it.

I’m not going to changing mains tbh. I love Spirit to death and don’t wanna leave her. I’m just taking a break.
I mained Hillbilly years ago, but then people kept spinning and exploiting the bad fov, so I dropped him, although I've recently picked him back up and don't miss point-blank saws half as much as back then.
I mained Clown, but oh my God did that get old quick. Pre-rework Clown was awful, because you would gain no distance from throwing bottles since he slowed way down as soon as he threw them, and his reload took so long. At a certain point, it felt like the only reason to play him was liking the character.
I mained Trapper but played him non-stop til I P3'd him, which burned me out of him. Besides, some matches just felt unwinnable with nobody falling for traps, especially when they kept getting disarmed.
I mained Huntress but people were spinning and exploiting the fov so I couldn't get point-blank M2 into M1/M2, which is like half her strength. I've picked her back up because I handle that better now, and I aim where the survivor is gonna dodge instead of at them.
I remember maining Spirit at one point when she still had her gen grab. That was most of the reason I played her, you could say. But then I noticed that even with meta perks, I started losing with her, because of gen rush and because Iron Will is unfair against her. Someone had it every match against me, I swear.
I mained Hag because she was and is strong, but I don't know, I just got burnt out of her. I still play her occasionally. If I'm playing to win, she's probably one of my go-tos.
I mained Deathslinger when he came out. I wasn't that good at first, but I was decent. I guess I dropped him because I was more bored than anything. If I ran 4 gen slowdown perks with him, it was easy. If I didn't, it was difficult. Heh, and I even foolishly tried to use PWYF on him, not realizing the shot AND the hit each took a PWYF stack away.
I mained Plague, because her red puke seemed really good, and I was downing survivors so quick. But then I either went against survivors who didn't cleanse, or I ran into her still-present hitbox problems. I'd hit the survivors clearly with the red puke, and they wouldn't get hit, and without that power what's the point of playing her?
I mained Nemesis, but then I realized that having to hit survivors 3 times with my power was really bad, especially when they could just cure themselves. Also the hitbox on the whip is wildly inconsistent, sometimes it hits them through a wall, and sometimes it's like a sewing needle-sized hitbox.
I mained Demogorgon because Scott opened my eyes to his strength, but without Black Heart/Barb's Glasses which I ran out of, he just felt mediocre.
Right now I main Blight/Artist. Blight is more add-on dependent to me, so if I had to choose one it would probably be Artist. I'm playing Blight mostly to use up his strong add-ons before they get nerfed, because we know it's coming. Artist feels really good to play, especially with certain add-ons. I really underrated her at first.
If I lose my current mains, I don't know what I'm gonna do. No other killers seem strong enough to be enjoyable.

@MilManson said:
Survivors who cry about nurse aren't good, they hold onto deadhard and once that's gone they've got nothing.
To be fair, Nurse seems to instantly down sometimes, like you have to Dead Hard preemptively or else she downs you, because there's zero time to react.
-
Losing with your main when you're the best at them, and played really well with them, gives you this hopeless feeling and makes you want to look for someone else. I've changed mains several times because of this.
-
SWF is only balanced if the survivors are bad, like my SWF and I. Even still we have matches where the question isn't "Are we gonna escape?", but it's "Can we all 4 escape?"
-
Lethal Pursuer is way overrated and Corrupt Intervention is way underrated. It's a few seconds of aura reading vs 2 minutes of gen blockage.

true hell is spine chill even considered meta?
The only reason I'm using it right now is because of the new killer. As soon as she falls off, so does Spine Chill for me.
-
Cell from DBZ. It'll never happen because too many people don't want anime. They threw a fit when Trickster got in, and the only thing anime about him is his trailer and the fact that he's asian.
-
I'd rather not have BT basekit to begin with. And if we get a free killer perk in exchange for them getting a free survivor perk, that works vice versa, and I think it's kind of silly that survivors will get any sort of buff just because killers did. I don't want to play the balanced scale game.
-
@BadZilla said:
The problem is you're just slowing down the inevitable you slug 1 or 2 while you look for another one they will just quickly help the downed survivors and it's basically ping pong from there + unbreakable you only need 1 survivor with it to ruin your whole slug you will still get gen rushed to oblivion unless you slug with a nurse .
It's more effective than that mot of the time. But once the survivors know you're willing to slug for the win, they'll play with that in mind so that you can't take advantage of it anymore.
-
@Komi said:
What if you go on a slug only spree until everyone bleeds out, what happens then?
They don't get any sacrifice points then.

You only scream when it doesn't matter, because that's when you're getting downed. Unless you're suggesting to play exclusively Doctor or Infectious Fright just to counter the perk.

Why would it get nerfed? I've never seen anyone complain about it.
Anything that helps the killer win, gets complained about til it gets nerfed. The survivors are always saying, "I'm so tired of the same killer meta." You generally know what perks they're talking about.

Why do you need a perk to counter undetectable? You could just use your camera to look around. Would you like a noise notification when being stalked by Myers or Ghostface as well?
It's a niche perk. Y'all act like it's game breaking.

Strange.
_ The camera of survivors doesn't always turn toward the trap (and no, I'm not speaking about them taking the trap on a tangent).
_ The teleportation lunge doesn't work properly (if at all)
The best Hag out there has also got the issue so I know it's not just me.
The bugs are already reported.
Actually, I felt a lack of strength with her when I played her, since I took a long break from her. I was seeing survivors trigger my traps and be running so far already, and I'm like HOW.

I wouldn't call it OP against most killers but ghostface's power literally requires you to look at survivors for a few seconds. Spine chill at least shouldn't work against stalking killers and at most shouldn't work with undetectable killers.
Then what do survivors have that helps against Undetectable? Unless you're asking us to use Premonition?
-
The difference is Iron Will takes away all sound, which pretty extreme. Whereas a cat lighting up when the killer is looking at you, which doesn't tell you their intent or direction or anything, how is that OP?

What bugs does Hag have? I played her and didn't notice anything.
-
Don't listen to the kill rates period. They're misleading. No competent survivors are dying to Freddy and Pig like 70% of the time or whatever those ridiculous stats said that one time. The casuals are massively skewing the results.

That's not good.
Yes it is. I'm expecting to be rewarded for playing skillfully. It's an expectation we all should have. But right now, you auto-lose as survivor if you get hooked and face camped by Leatherface, and you auto-lose as killer if the survivors collectively hold a button down for too long.
-
It's nice to see my teammates doing gens only when my challenge is to do them myself.
-
Fun for me is winning.

A perk change here or there, repeat questions with the same answers, and probably something to outrage the killer players.

Survivor actually manage their gens to not get 3genned. Why shouldnt killer not managne their hooks to not create hook-deadzones?
Yes but their gens don't get destroyed, especially not by something they can't control. Killers don't control where the survivors go down, the survivors do. Killers only have 16 seconds to hook someone, which is even less with Breakout, Flip-Flop, or boil over. Killers can never pick exactly which hook on the map they want to hook that person, just the ones that are nearby, so how is getting a good hook destroyed their fault? Whereas survivors are free to go do any gen at any time. And 3-gens are a bad joke; they don't even do anything for the killer against good survivors. You still haven't given a reason why hooks being destroyed is good game design, just that killers are obligated to play around it and not complain.
-
@Tiufal said:
Cant manage your hooks? Sure its always the games fault.
So if 1 or 2 of the last 3 gens survivors couldn't work on, because they didn't manage what gens they did, that's all fair and good?

I really don’t see the issue.
Part of the gameplay involves hooking strategically and denying hooks by making smart plays in chase.
Some hook spawns need to be looked at but it’s not really game breaking.
The random element of games is a healthy thing. If it was always the same all the time it would get bland very quickly.
Some hooks are very conveniently placed being able to rely on those central hooks anytime would remove a lot of the strategic decision making of where to hook.
No, it wouldn't remove strategy. If you're hooking someone on an edge hook on swamp, you're probably gonna make it, whereas if you go for a central further hook but get body blocked once, you lose the hook. And this is without any hooks being destroyed yet. Imagine when they are.
@pseudechis said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2860325#Comment_2860325
You’re not punished for winning.
Getting a down doesn’t mean you deserve a hook.
make better decisions when choosing where to hook someone, be mindful of where chases are heading and herd survivors the other way.
It’s all part of the game.
Yes there are areas where hook spawns could be revisited but that doesn’t invalidate my point.
Also random variance and chance make up a large part of the games replay ability. Without it the game becomes a generic predictable experience.
Games that are the same every time have very little staying power because they get dull quick.
RNG isn’t the enemy and if you think it is then my advice is never play games involving dice, you’ll spit the dummy every time a roll doesn’t go your way. We all know that guy and nobody wants to play with them, don’t be that guy.
"Getting a down doesn't mean you deserve a hook." WHAT?!
-
It's more mainstream and is something that the old people understand, so it's validated and promoted as part of everyday life. Since video games still aren't mainstream enough and isn't fully understood by everyone, you're belittled and called childlike for showing any amount of serious investment in what you're playing. These people are trying to use that archaic mindset to get that cheap shot in, hoping that you'll cave to society's expectations, and admit them the winner of the argument.
