They can’t truly “fix” these issues unless they rebuild the basic gameplay loop from the ground up, and doing that would probably kill the game.
People complain about DBD and its gameplay mechanics but we all keep playing it. So why would they try to fix something that clearly isn’t that broken?
You're missing the point, It's not that those tactics are broken. It's the fact that they are used to compensate for unbalanced match speed, at the detriment of the survivors fun.
The devs were supposed to address match speed with the early game slowdown mechanic. Which would have hopefully removed the reasons to use those tactics.
But yeah, addressing a core issue of the game that has been there since launch is just too much for then I guess. Makes sense considering how much they screwed this patch up.

@immortalls96 said:
So whats your solution? Infinite unbreakable and multi use ds base kit..? That would shatter the balance of dead by daylight completely
I haven't suggested any solutions, nor am I saying that they need infinite uses.
What I'm saying is the devs need to address match speed and unfun tactics. The primary reason killers use the listed tactics is because they slow the match down, Often at the cost of the survivors fun.
And to be fair infinite use DS as a base game mechanic wouldn't be bad if it had deactivation conditions, such as healing or repairing. But infinite use unbreakable is definitely too much.

@Terro said:
Uh... U answered your own question. They have addressed them. Unless you mean something else, like address them in terms of balancing.
There are a lot of perks and even killers made to deal with certain aspects of the game. It doesn't mean the devs are saying that those aspects are bad for the game or unbalanced. U have self heal in case some1 is tired of having to look for other survivors to heal them. Killers have undying to use if they feel that totems disappear too quickly. Survivors have spine chill to help them keep an eye out for the killer. Killer's have BBQ to help them keep up the pressure and snowball.
Yeah, I mean with balancing.
But seriously, these issues have been with the game for a while. Why has nothing substantial been done about it? Like I said, even the band aid perks (except unbreakable) don't fully counter the 'unfun' tactics.
Plus even the whole gen speed issue is "fixed" by slowdown perks. But even those can be countered in some way. For thanatophobia you just heal, ruin can be broken in the first 30 seconds. Dying light can be countered by playing stealthy.
There are others I'm missing but I'm sure you can see my point.

Two things about it need improvement.
1) When you’re Charlotte you can always see Victor’s aura, EXCEPT when he latches onto somebody. She’s far too slow to locate a moving target if she’s more than a few feet away before he’s crushed. This needs to be rectified.
2) When Victor is left alone we get an alert if somebody is close to him. This power should work both ways. When we’re in control of Victor we should get info of when somebody is near Charlotte.
If these two things are addressed it would go a long way towards making the pair formidable. But right now despite Victor’s speed The Twins are ironically too slow.
Not only that, but they excell at the tactics that survivors despise. I.E. camping and slugging.
Making them feel a lot more powerful than they actually are.
-
@Awakey said:
What I'm getting from this post is "I don't like perfectly valid, fun for the killer strategies because they aren't fun for the survivor."
Got it.
Edit: Clarity.
Shouldn't valid tactics be fun for both ends of the game?
-
You mentioned a great country with nothing wrong with it whatsoever, that's what got a youtuber by the name of a tropical fruit taken off of the forums
I don't know how long you got, but yeah, I agree with the majority of post.
Edit: included more sarcasm
-
Well said, it seems like the devs had massive oversight issues with this killer.
The twins give a deeper look into how tunneling and the other mentioned things have to be used to create pressure.
Hopefully with the twins exposing how tunneling and slugging is used to counter the current time crunch meta, they'll take a look into it. Then make it fair for both ends of the equation.
But you know, it's BHVR, they'll find a way to screw it up if they do it.
Edit: I would love to be able to say that they'd be able to work with the information this issue is providing. But they have consistently proven that they are unable to do a deep consideration of their mechanics, they say tunneling/camping/slugging is a valid strategy. Yet they also mention how fun something is to go against. But they haven't made the correlation between the two in the four years this game has been active.

It's kinda insane how much freddy gets for free.
His base kit is overloaded (one of the best map mobility in the game,very strong chase power,free stall because survivors need to wake up every minute,free tracking if they wake up through failing skill checks,free anti BT mechanics)
And people say doctor has an overloaded basekit
But in all seriousness, for a jack of all trades killer freddy performs too well. far out classing demo, who's supposed to be another Jack of all trades killer.
By the way, congratulations on getting your question in the QnA

Hey, popping in again to update you on some of the bugs I reported.
12. Has a ribbon on the butcher knife that has clipping issues ( pretty minor, but whatever )
13. Landing a lunge will kill victor as if he were on top of an object for too long, even if he's on the ground.
20. If victor lands on an elevated plane he'll be unable to get off. Side not - survivors who attempt to kick him will float up into the air and kick him, then fall back down.
Number 12 is incorrect. It's the shovel weapon skins, not the butcher knife.
Number 13 is incorrect. Landing a lunge as Charlotte is not what kills Victor; it's landing a pounce as Victor. I also did some digging, and it seems this bug seems to apply mostly to one specific area: The ground around the main building on Azarov's. For some reason, pouncing anywhere near that building will kill you.
Number 20 is incorrect. It combines two bugs into one. Victor will only be unable to get off a pallet or a window if he downs a Survivor using his pounce and lands there. Survivors being able to kick him on an elevated plane also only applies to pallets and windows.
I also want to add a bug that the Twitch streamer Farmer John discovered. Sometimes, when playing as Victor, you simply won't be able to switch back to Charlotte.
And here I was hoping I was done
Well, I'll get back to updating the list

Here's mine. I haven't seen it unless I missed it. I was playing zarina and two matches in a row my ds wouldn't work. The sound activate but I'm physically unable to see the skill check. I play on ps4 if this helps and I used ds with other survivors yesterday no problem
I think that might've been a thing for a bit, but it'll be added

Expected, and annoying to hear. But, expected.
As far as the bugs go they mentioned that they're aware of them And fixing all of them in future hotfixes.
Doesn't make the first thing ok though.

And blight will finally be able to see above basic loops!

Ngl I just thought you might be interested in it lol. But after 5k posts it ain't got to me, I'm gonna keep going strong >:D
Good to know the bugs are being looked into.
My fingers are really starting to hurt after typing up my lists.

Nah, it's was given to us during the QnA, not sure why.

Don't mind this comment, just making sure this list stays on the front page

I didn't see most of the livestream, but remember who we are dealing with. My guess would be errrpffftmmmmmayybe? They might have at least brought it up once.
I watched some of it, they outright ignored questions about the early game mechanic, no mention of it in the QnA.
Not seeing anything about bugs in it so far.
-
@Yords said:
146 bugs. Now that is just ridiculous. I wonder what the devs think of this.
Did they even comment about how broken the game is on the QnA?

Not sure if this is a PS4/PS5-only thing but the trophy "Escape Artist" does not unlock when you meet the criteria (escape the hook [yourself] and escape the trial).
I've tried it two ways:
Luck stack + self-unhook escape
Deliverance escape
Neither got me the trophy (both completed multiple times, too).
Also! They never changed the Huntress' trophy to match the PC version (you have to throw and hit 100 hatches from 30 meters or whatever it is).
Alright, it's been added to the second list
-
Could you please break that up into paragraphs?
-
@bm33 said:
I said it on other post but didn't see it added to list. Prior to update when waking up healthy survivor the animation was missing but the healthy survivor would make crying injured sounds. After updated you have both the snap/clap sound/animation as well as the healthy survivor crying like they're injured. So Freddy gets plenty of sounds to help him locate survivors being woken up.
Alright, it's on the list now

I think that could be the animation for switching between the antidote and tonic
A little buggy looking, but that's to be expected from an early teaser for the PTB

Yes, because the game is filled with bugs and it's impossible to play without worrying to get a stuck in the map. Anyway I'm glad I didn't buyed the new DLC or anything from the in-game store lately. This game is in really bad state and is no longer enjoyable and BHVR only cares about money. Gonna play MK11. At least they listened to the community and they added Mileena to the game. Cheers.
Look man, just stop while you're ahead, plus what do the bugs have to do with that?
I will say it again, you are complaining for the sake of complaining

McLean is also a dev ( Gameplay programmer ) But yet he can somehow explain the things clearly and making it easy to understand. He doesn't look like he's reading something on force and from papers or notes on the computer.
@Mandy said:
And different personalities approach things in different ways!
For once I agree with what Mandytalk is saying.
Just because McLean does something one way, doesn't mean Ethan has to act the same way.
Plus either way the point is getting across.

Thanks for this! Hopefully this can be pinned for awareness!
That would be cool, I even have a second list I'm working on because this one is getting too big.
My phone lags like crazy when editing this post.
-
I hate to say it, but it seems like you're just grasping at straws to find something to complain about.
Yes the update has been a complete [BAD WORD] show but people have already complained about the bugs and unfinished state of the game.
Most of the hate has been somewhat justified, but this is just complaining for the sake of complaining.

After this I think I'm just going to be known as the list guy.
Especially if the mid chapter breaks stuff even more

Yeah, I don't think they said anything about the ludicrous amount of bugs in the QnA either.
Either that or I missed them saying anything about it.
-
@NomiNomad said:
There are two options:
They haven't made enough progress on it to tell us anything, so those questions were omitted.
Or
It's cancelled, and we'll never, ever hear about it again.
Usually if they havn't made enough progress they at least tell us "we're working on it."
Really hope they haven't abandoned it.
-
That is a pretty accurate title you got there
-
Plus we hardly know what's going on in BHVR, because they hardly ever communicate with us!
The most they've ever told us in a QnA is "don't worry guys, we're looking into it."
-
I hope they're only starting small, Otherwise the only thing of substance in this calendar will be cosmetics, which have an unknown amount of charms.

Yeah, the numbering may be off by a couple bugs, but if my counting is right, we currently have 141 bugs in the game.

I don't know if anyone saw this or not, but Hex: Devour Hope doesn't go past 2 stacks, no matter how far away you are when a survivor is rescued from hook.
Was playing Blight on Nurse's map, if that's relevant.
Jesus, a lot of perks are not functioning with this update.
It'll be added to the second list

@Iceyrawr said:
its certainly not empty with all those god loops in new maps.
I like how they justify god loops with breakable walls.
There's only one or two breakable walls per map in autohaven.
But overall there are less loops in both autohaven and ormond ( thank god ormond has been dethroned ). But I've noticed hook spawns on the new maps have been very far away from each other.

@Mew said:
found a new one but i'm unsure if its intentional or not
if you have deception on, you can fake a locker that another survivor is already in.
Oh lord, that sounds horrible to deal with.
I never thought it could be used that way.
-
If all recommendations were put in They'd probably sit about mid to high B tier.
They have excellent map pressure, but the only method of mobility is victor, Who can be punted across the map. So unless you've hidden him well, your power is easily removable.

@NomiNomad said:
For the most part I agree. I've tripped up and made my own posts like this, but for the most part I don't care about The Twins. I think they're fine. A little buggy, but fine.
I just care about the state this patch was pushed in. It's not okay. I don't believe it's the Dev's fault, probably some higher-up or investor.
After that, yes, I mainly agree with everything here. The amount of contradictions (and hypocrisy) on this forum are outstanding, from both sides. Too many people on here treat the game like it's a war between the two different players. It shouldn't be treated like that. I try to refrain from doing that, but I've slipped up, and I know that. Again, I don't care about balance for the most part. I just want them to take their time. As far as I know, the Dev's don't use General for actual balance ideas (Thank God) but they do look at Feedback (or so I've been told, anyways.)
"a little buggy", my dude have you seen the list I've made?
Victor alone has about 20 bugs, charlotte is sitting somewhere around the 18 - 20 mark.
-
It'll probably take them an entire chapter to fix all of these bugs.
So technically we get the 'bug fix chapter'everyones wanting, Yaaay???
-
@Spooky13 said:

-While a survivor is leaving a locker, regardless of how far the animation is completed or whether it's a slow or fast leave, Victor's pounce doesn't damage them. Don't have a clip but try it, if they're in the locker they can be hit, but if they're leaving he rams his head into the wall like BHVR's bugfixing team are surely doing after reading these threads.
-The new main building on Azarov's is bugged for Nurse; she can't blink through it or around it consistently.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/NM8WCNHI7ZO1/1606991760865.jpg
-When you mori someone as Doctor with the illusory red stain, it stays there for the rest of the game.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/NCF76Y3ZFAIA/1606988310834.png
-Many of the bugged Yamaoka rocks that let you climb up them are now on Ormond.
-Victor can be placed directly under the hook, so he can't be kicked once a survivor is hooked. Think the old hook tech. This means as soon as he sees the survivor getting unhooked, you can switch and down the unhooked guy with no counterplay.
-Not sure if this is intended or not, but if Victor's active when a perk is triggered the perk doesn't seem to work. I had Rancor and the last gen popped while i was in control of Victor; no notifications and when i downed the injured obsession as Charlotte I couldn't mori them.
-It seems to be (tested this twice in a game) when Plague gets pallet stunned while charging/holding her vomit, she gets stuck at vomit charging speed until she fully charges and uses her vomit again.
Victor seems to be one of the most bugged aspects of this update.

Forgot this one as well.
Detective Tapp's torso skin with the hanging badge on a chain over his kevlar vest has an issue with the chain. As the match progresses, and the chain moves more and more, it steadily will stretch out. One Tapp I faced ended a match with a chain as long as he was tall. Said chain also sticks out of lockers you hide in.
Comically large chain
