  • Sorry but having getting a working internet connection, just like a powerful enough PC setup or the right console, have always been part of the systtem requirements that one has to fulfill to play certain games.

Just like not being able to play for example cyberpunk 2077 because of not owning the newest console or having an old PC, it is your own responsibility if you want to be able to play this game and not the developers to lower the system requirements for you.

Also when you go into a multiplayer queue, knowing that your internet is prone to break up connection, than you are knowingly exposeother to the high chance of having someone disconnect from their game, which also isn't fun for the majority of the community.

Stick to Singleplayer or non pvp online game if you can't improve your internet situation or get better internet.

  • Maybe some problem with the change of dropping a pallet only on the far side?

    (If this change really happened)

But but but we have to blame everything on SBMM now - didn't you know that?

Ah yes sorry, my bad. 😅

i should better stop commenting anything until I tested it tonight myself 😜

  • Well were longer killer queue times during the day not already the norm even before SBMMR?

While i am eu as well i don't know since I mostly played after 8pm (and not since SBMMR is on) and then killer queue were so fast that i couldn't even check to set a BP offering.

Everyone doesn't play swf, sounds like if killers can't handle the game playing swf, then they should try other games, not make the game toxic

I play usually between 8pm and 2am (eu, PC, X-Play on) if I play at all and kill waiting time in lobby by checking profiles since someone always doesn't ready up.

From my experience four solo or full swf are both exceptions and nearly every lobby has a 2/3 men. So i guess most people have atleast the option for using those advantages.

And I categorically avoid camping and tunneling and only slug people that are on deathhook and only one at a time, i guess I don't fall in any of the typical category and am free to whine about swf or coms.

Not that i would care anymore. Stopped going for kills and switched to 8hooks+0deaths/max BP 3 years ago.

Doesn't stop the opposition from basking in their superiority sometimes even when it is obvious that i led them go or being dismissive when they managed to hard stomp someone playing for "fun" and "fair".

Killer mains have speed, powers, perks and add- ons and still camp or have to camp, are they really that weak

Well survivor have the group advantage, item, also perks and add-ons, can even preselect competent teammates via swf and have the option of optimal coordination via comms.

So I don't see the point of this thread outside another camping/tunneling/slugging/killer x/swf/whatever is boring/unfun/op and needs to be fixed/nerfed thread number 1000001.

It's never needed. It's just a good way for the killer to win. There is no required camping. I think what you mean by needed is an instance where camping will give an easy win becuaee its so good.

But if you feel it's a need for some reason then good news everybody, if you implement my proposal your never going to "need" to camp again. Because camping will never br the beat strategy again. Isn't that great no more having to stand around waiting for the survivor to die you can actually play the game

What they mean by needed are specific situations.

Let me draw you a picture. One survivor is on hook, the gates are powered/open and due to the killer spreading their pressure and hooks, 1-3 other survivor are still alive.

What is the incentive for the killer in this scenario to not secure their kill?

Searching for the other 1-3 in hope that they are not at the other door and/or circle around the killer to get the unhook and make it guaranteed back to the door thanks to potential BT, DS, UB, DH and/or (multiple) bodyblocks?

Now take away all forms of camping and killer can literally go afk as soon as the last gen pops with more than one survivor remaining.

I think there are a couple problem with your points.

1 you seem to think camping is literally the only way to win, i have plenty of 4ks with 10 or 11 hooks, and I'm guessing someone who mains killer would do a far better job then me

    2. Let look at your example a little closer. If you are chasing this God their survivor and can never catch them and the hooked survivor never dies then the other two can do gens and escape. However if there is no hook pause isn't it basically the same result?

The guy dies you go after the God tier never catching him and the other two do the gens. Unless your gonna say that you would stop chasing the God tier and go after the other two but you could just as easily do that woth the paused timer.

    To the second point:

    Scenario:

killer chases god tier looper around 1 hooked survivor, 2 others are working gens.

Option 1: Hooked survivor dies after 2 minutes and killer ends up with 25% potential gen progression and can ignore god looper for one of the other 2.

Result: 1 dead, God looper either trying to gain aggro or on gen, gen jockey A remaining on gen and gen jockey B potentially in chase, 25% of potential gen pressure gone.

Option 2: hooked survivors dies, killer drops chase to find one of the two gen jockeys while God looper rescues the hooked.

Result: formerly hooked, god looper and gen jockey A on gens and jockey B in chase, still 4 survivor alive and no progress against gen pressure.

Mine are back to normal now but it went super quick and the survivors varied in skill and hours like the old system for a while.

Maybe they didn't switch SBMMR off but activated queue time dependent widening of matching again under our noses.

A killer goes out of their way to play nice. They get 8 hooks, and no kills. The survivors click their flashlights to no end and teabag on their merry way out. The survivors bombard the killer with "EZ" and hateful messages.

That killer then goes on to camp, tunnel, do whatever it takes to win, and not give a damn what the survivors think about their playstyle because why should anyone play "nice" in this game if they're going to be met with endless toxicity regardless of how they play?

Nah I simply play only one or two days each month instead of switching to camping/tunneling.

But yeah, it really sucks out all the patience out of me for being "nice" and "fair" when it's only either met with indifference or arrogance/toxicity.

I disagree. There’s a difference between dead space and Dead by daylight, dead space is a one time thing that has a set of events that will happen guaranteed. But Dead by daylight will be different every game. The killer won’t follow the same route every other killer follows, and streamers still get scared by stealth killers

That's just situational jumps cares and not horror or scaryness per se.

People with always be surprised/scared based on fight-or-flight instincts. Hell even i get "scared" from time to time when I don't expect a survivor to double back into me in high walled loops.

But that is not the same as something being legitimately scared or horror. DBD by now has no atmospheric horror anymore it's always the same and after several hundred hours you have seen enough from each killer on each map.

  • Well repetition dulls even the biggest horrors in video games.

Play any real horror game for the tenth time and it will lose its horror.

I loved dead space and was genuinely on edge in my first playthroughs but by now it is simply an atmospheric third person shooter for me and I partial simply run though it.

Play DBD for several hundreds of hours and the killer simply becomes a fifth person with a different skill set and the scary aspect is completely gone.

Oh. So the game design is busted. So I deserve to get dunked on by survivors who fully know how to abuse maps ?

Let me know when DBD no longer spawns disgusting set ups like I've seen lately. Let me know when DBD no longer spawns a jungle gym in to cow tree in to LT in to hay loop with pallet in to shack in to jungle gym. That's just on one side of the map

Or how trying to endure and let the devs at least see how unbalanced some stuff is once both sides have comparable skill.

I believe after knowing how the devs think about some things in the game that they just don't know jack about parts of their game in term of balance and creating something fixed/comparable they have the chance to balance further.

If the matchmaking is just as random as everything else then there is not axis point to tip/balance any scales.

  • @Dr_Loomis said:

They need to stop putting out these eye-rollingly dumb challenges.

They also need to have it where you can contribute to multiple challenges per match. Maybe have at least 3 or 5 selected and then gain progression over the course of matches.

Finding thosebcrappy yellow gems is bad enough but having them interrupted and disappear to another part of the map is like walking in to someone else's fart.

Those Huntress challenges are peak turd. Really bad.

But that "multiple challenges parallel" thing, just like getting rid of perk tiers or other grind reducing qol changes, would lead to a decrease in overall playtime of the game and look bad for the people in charge /s

Another good idea that will never make it into the game without the public pressure of a "colorblind Modus" PR disaster.😒

You are guessing at how the MMR works to try to suggest to the OP that the system worked correctly. No one knows because the rating isn't shown. You are trying to say the new SBMM system works while also saying don't be surprised it doesn't work because BHVR doens't live up to their promises. All of this speculation could be solved by them showing the ranking numbers.

As for your rank based match making example, how is going from one matching system that could produce lopsided matches better than this system that can produce lopsided matches? That is what people are expressing their frustration about. The games are supposed to feel like you were matched with similarly skilled people, which for some people it seems to not be doing for some reason.

Instead of trying to argue with people about their experience and shoot them down with assumptions, why not just try to show a little empathy and offer how your experience has been?

So empathy and my experiences, hm?

My empathy tuns out when people have as if this game is the one and only and whine accordingly.

Fitting to that my experience? Especially with the new SBMMR? I don't have any. I don't know if I said it already in this thread but i play this game only very sporadically for the last 2-3, meaning once or twice a month if I am in the mood because while i like the concept and style of this game, which make it unique, i have a plethora of other games i like and still want to play.

I would get bored out of my mind playing one and the same game for more than a few hundred hours and can't comprehend many people playing a game for several thousand especially alone. The only games where I have hours even remotely close are world of warcraft and league of legends accumulated over 10 years (not 5 like people in DBD) and that also only because I had friends to play them with.

So neither my empathy nor experience match with most people here and I argument mostly from a logical standpoint not a subjective one, unlike many others that only vent their frustration while leaving logic and reasoning behind.

  • To be honest except the amount of pallets in the game map i don't care much for maps. I just play since I already stopped caring for kills rather than trying to get BP. Oh yes, and the multiple tl walls next to each other on macmillan's, i think.

I just find interacting with the survivors more fun than barely seeing them at all. Sabo squads are also generally less challenging then your average rush gen squads

Well that is true but Sabo squads are mostly either mediocre/bad players that just saw something in a stream or yt video and want to try it or the hardcore bullysquad.

While i say that i guess my case was neither since they were efficient on gens but also had a premade plan with a designated totemhunter to boot.

Honestly I love fighting sabo squads. 10x better than immersive players

Challenge wise maybe but when I as a killer already try to play fair and then get denied at every opportunity than it is just another bullysquad in my eyes.

And I forgot to mention that i sucked so hard with blight that their strategy never came to pass or they were at least so fair as to drop it.

I only saw what they had intended afterwards but speed wise they never let up. That's why they only manage barely 20k at most when i only got 2 hooks and they could've drawn the game out especially with 2 cakes.

Those made me hopeful that i would get either noobs or chill people since a double pip is already manageable at those ranks by drawing out a trial without killing anyone. (Also a reason is stayed down there).

Not factoring in travel time or the complete ineptitude of solo teams in general. If you unironically stop and do 5 dull totems, it's more likely that you will have wasted bare minimum 70 seconds.

The only real counter to NOED in solo queue is to not go for endgame unhooks, so as to not reward the killer using NOED

I love it. The argument against noed is the ineptitude of teammates but when the killer gets more than one kill with it then that ineptitude is not the source of the problem by feeding the killer.

Either your teammates are good and everybody can keep totems in mind so it takes average way less than 70 seconds to cleanse all totems or you get potatoes and simply leave them once noed comes into play.

Either you bake the cake or eat it. Not both.

Wanting to ignore totems despite good teammates or escaping with all 4 when teammates are potatoes is asking to get handheld by the game.

  • That's why I never in all 5 years have ever used shadowborn or strider outside of adepts.

Yes, correct, and I wish to play with the people who play semi-seriously and face people who play semi-seriously. I don't want to face new killers, and I don't want the massive sweaty ######### who try to ruin everyone's experience.

I accept people like that will always exist, and I accept new people will exist. I just don't want to play with them because this is a 4v1 game, but it is still a video game, and they are supposed to be played for fun.

If your idea of fun is sweating out as hard as you can, great! You can do that vs others who sweat as hard as they can and leave me to play in the middle where nobody takes the game seriously.

Which I guess SBMM may solve given enough time. And if it works at all. The new players will be low, the sweats will be high, and the people playing for fun and semi-experienced players will be together in the middle.

I hope you don't assume that I myself want to play sweaty with this paragraph:

If your idea of fun is sweating out as hard as you can, great! You can do that vs others who sweat as hard as they can and leave me to play in the middle where nobody takes the game seriously.

I am probably one of the few killer that don't even try to get kills but go for 8 hooks and maximum BP while providing some kind of thrill for the survivor.

And again just because this is a video game, it is not a game intented for people to chill since neither you, the devs nor anyone else has control over what attitude the opponent has.

For example i play league of legends with the intention to win but also play together with friends that are evidently (way) under my skill and I still don't tryhard, but also expect that i won't necessarily win or have much fun. Mostly either I can carry or get focused by the enemy team and my friends are not good enough to help me. (Which sometimes still leads to wins when I manage to get the enemies to blow everything on me but that is also no fun to be the sacrificial lamb)

Same when we really goof around and pick a silly comp of all tanks or all heal supports. It can work but i go into those games expecting to get curbstomped hard since I cant expect the other team to pull their punches because they want to play a normal and not a throwaway game. Same in overwatch or rainbow six siege and also in DBD.

You can go in and have fun with friends and not tryhard but to expect that your opponent in an, again, PVP game will accomodate to that is delusional.

  • I personally wouldn't care.

The only thing I even know about the devs directly is the ironic comedy they bring with the instant flashlight massacre video, the "play civ6" idiocy and the "pretty good job so far" meme.

Omg this comment is filled with false information it’s insane.

“People don’t DC or kill themselves on hook on hook because get hit once or don’t like the killer.” -Well this statement was contradicted in your next paragraph so now this is meaningless. And the survivors I went against DID DC on their first hit and because I was Spirit.

Quit defending DCs like survivors don’t abuse them. It’s not right, it does ruin games for others and if you don’t see that, then you’re admitting something you don’t wanna admit about yourself.

If the majority of survivors unanimously decided to DC every time they see a Spirit, us Spirit players will literally never be able to play the game. I love Spirit, I want to enjoy her. I understand why you people don’t like her but please just quit doing the small PP move.

Fun fact, roughly two years ago I played one of my first 10 games with spirit (in games hours less than 200). See one survivor with old object of obsession and less than 10 seconds later all 4 of them quit.

Fun fact 2 at that point I had already decided to stop playing for kills and instead for bbq stacks and max points (8hooks) while no killing. So running away from hooked survivor and ignoring freshly unhooked ones.

Truly fascinating how they knew that i am a jerk when playing killer right? /S

  • @MikaKim said:

Not sure how you could say its subjective when you could literally see the numbers of killers and survivors at any one time.

The rest is all valid points which can only be discounted with me going back, pulling the numbers, showing them to you and then you being a good faith actor with that knowledge.

Okay, given the fact that I never heard in the two years i am on this forum and the 5 years i sporadically play this game that it is even possible to specifically see exact killer to survivor ratio at any given time. Completely new information for me.

That would make any of those already painful information empty threads about queue times (no region, time of day or X-Play on/off information given most of the time) way easier to explain or even the whole point of creating one void.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I dont want to face inexperienced players, I want to face and play with experienced players who also are playing for fun. The Über sweats can ######### off into a category of their own

In here comes my point you didn't address in another thread again.

This is an online PVP game with distinct opposing sides not Fortnite or pubg with multiple teams. Therefore this game is not casual but competitive, and again I don't mean eSports but the general definition of the word, two sides competing against each other.

In EVERY of those games, separate normal and ranked queue or not, you will find people trying to goof around for fun and the people that try (hard) to win. But you can't expect your opponent to play the same way you want to play, so you have to expect the tryhard in every match and only HOPE to get like minded chill player.

There is simply nothing to be done about that. Also the reason why I think that those "make separate rank/normal queue" threads are pointless. You can't keep tryhards out of the normal queue where they would even get easier games.

  • First of all expecting behaviour to keep any promise they make is delusional. They have shown time and time again that they a) their word and promises are worth scrap (see console optimization in the first year, early game improvement in the third year (and this nemesis perk is not a satisfying substitute), key changes several times and many other points) and b) the devs themselves don't even have the in-game knowledge that is up to par with even mediocre players and even moreso far from the top.

Second, my point is not the undisclosed MMR number but that maybe your pig and doc aren't as far apart as you think and that the survivor that are easy on your doc are of the same quality as the hard survivor for your pig. And both timer the opponent have the same elo difference from your killers but one time below and the other above.

  • @wxnickxw said:

I think the fact that so many are saying hiw good the map Is for the killer and just as many for yhe survivors is an indication that its actually a really well balanced map

Ah yes the five people on the forum against 60k players on steam alone a really good sample size to make a generalized point from 😂

Btw to the point I personally don't care. I break every wall available except the shut off room in the saloon.

  • Damn this thread is still not dead at this point.

  • @Advorsus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2497912#Comment_2497912

I'm aware it was never supposed to start at zero. But you're still not getting the point. Yes, my other killers MMR gets counted into that to increase the overall of all your other killers. But even if that happens, in a working system there's no reason why my killer with lower MMR, should be going against the same skill players as with my doctor.

I've played League of Legends, Call of Duty, and many other online games with MMR systems. I know how they work. And I know this system doesn't work as it's supposed to.

Okay then let me address your point how the hell do you know that those survivor have the same quality as the ones you encounter with doc?

Their perks, gameplay, hidden elo or what?

And if you know by for example playing lol like i do that such a fresh MMR system has still to triangulate itself and again for every new killer aka you will at first get better and worse survivor. To use my example again, your doc is 1800 and your pig gets rated at 1600 and the system gives you survivor at 1700. What is there to be surprised about?

And finally to your overall point that this is a sign that SBMMR is unfair, here is a picture of a match i had one or two weeks before SBMMR was implemented:

    20210819_235918_HDR~2.jpg

    For clarity:

my killer rank should normally be somewhere in purple (never bothered to tryhard into reds) but i only play this game once a month or so at this point and after the reset bug in May in never climbed back up thanks to my survivor friendly playstyle of avoiding kills and maxing BP.

I suck at blight and played them for the third or fourth time.

So while the ranks seem correct you can't tell me that this is not a 4 men swf (profiles were ALL hidden, also a first for me) with 3 smurfs.

So tell me was this fair in the old system?

  • @Advorsus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2497877#Comment_2497877

I already said all of that in the above post. A few hundred hours, it's close to 600, with 90% of that being on doctor. And since I had just got done playing 4 matches of doctor, and 4king each time, it wasn't really a bad day.

Also, the point is that SBMM is supposed be based upon each individual killer. And if it was actually working as intended, I wouldn't be going against the same skill level survivors with the same meta builds, as I do on my doctor. But it's very clearly not based upon individual killer. As I stated above, it's the same whether I'm playing a brand new killer, that I have no hours on, or if I'm playing my doctor.

So i would guess you don't know how a normal elo system works in online games.

They don't start people of at 0 but for example in online chess everybody starts with an elo of 1500 (the best players having something around 2500).

Now your doctor stands at 1800-2000 or something and normally the other killer start at 1500 which then gets increased to something like 1600 to compensate for your overall accumulated game knowledge.

While i don't know if any of those number are even remotely correct or in the right dimension, behaviour never said that you would start with the other killers at 0. And playing a new killer against what amounts to rank 20 as a rank 1 doc won't help and not be fun for the survivor.

It SHOULD place you with new killers against something like the equivalent of high green/low purple but in another thread it is speculated that MMR is based on trial length and kill/escape rates. If that is true then i guess that the data they collected prior with the old MMR is screwing many people over given that rank 1 was a mess of low skill/high playtime up to correct highskill players and killrates where highly inflated by that and trial were either gen focused short games or stomps by the killer and also too short.

  • How many hours in the game overall, how much of that on killer? Or anything comprehensible of your overall game experience?

Just showing this (btw censor the other names to apply forum rules) is worthless. You could be a whatever main with several thousand of hours and just had a bad day.

  • @BadMrFrosty said:

Makes you wonder where they've been the last 4+ years.

    Playing civilization, maybe?

  • And again more than 50% on here don't know how a normal elo system works.

This is what I posted in another thread to this topic:

"You know that most systems start player of at a mid ranking? For example in online chess you start with an elo of 1500 as a new player and from there have to play many matches to get were you belong (with the top sitting at roughly 2700-2800 in this example).

From my point of view it seems that behaviour did the same instead of starting new player at 0.

This would also explain your situation sitting in the middle of the elo and getting matched with people above and below in a certain rang.

Btw league of legends does something similar. You have to play your account up to level 30 to give the system a rough estimate and then can join ranked queue where you get also matched with people above and below you to finally triangulate your rank."

Edit: just for clarification, the person this is addressed to had according to themselves less than 10 hours on killer overall and was whining why on the first game with a until then unplayed killer weren't easy survivors.

Oh, yeah. I know. I thought that to myself too, when I've read about it. Though that doesn't change the fact that most games still feel like a coin toss, just like in the past. And yes, time's a huge part of how well an MMR works, but it could at least FEEL like it works a little, y'know?

Well with these devs i would never go for "feeling" XD

For example, while i myself generally respect pallets to brake them for points, i "feel" the frustration when I see those videos of killer getting their hits rerolled and I ask myself if the devs really have not chance to make this better but at the same time I understand on what kind of base code this game runs and that it already is more like a bloated manhandled abomination instead of a polished and improved game (for example when they changed it from peer-to-peer to server based, which with my understanding of game development is a quite brutal change without completely remaking the base)

Something's very off about the MMR, especially when it comes to this whole concept of having easier games on Killers you've not played yet.

Well that concept.is flawed from the get go. For example i would spent several thousand hours into one killer and then decide to play one of the rest. I still would've the experience in regard to general gameplay, for example looping, map and perk knowledge, survivor behaviour.....and so on.

So in terms of the old MMR they can't send you against yellow ranks with each new killer you try. And the difference between green, purple and red were already hardly dependent on the individual survivor with the old system and I would guess it isn't much different with the new after less than a week.

As I explained (in my comment above) it takes some time in elo based system to find the right place for everybody.

So, after rank reset, I am, playing killers for the FIRST time, when my overall playtime is below 10 hours on killers among ALL killers and taking a specific maniac for the first time, being thrown into survivors who don't have their profile pages hidden, and they have 5000+ hours in Dead by Daylight. When my MMR is supposed to be low for the first time on a killer with no perks open.

    Very balanced, I see.

So wait, you have less than 10 hours overall and except the system to be able to give you correct matchmaking?

You know that most systems start player of at a mid ranking? For example in online chess you start with an elo of 1500 as a new player and from there have to play many matches to get were you belong (with the top sitting at roughly 2700-2800 in this example).

From my point of view it seems that behaviour did the same instead of starting new player at 0.

This would also explain your situation sitting in the middle of the elo and getting matched with people above and below in a certain rang.

Btw league of legends does something similar. You have to play your account up to level 30 to give the system a rough estimate and then can join ranked queue where you get also matched with people above and below you to finally triangulate your rank.

People, on both sides, and the devs themselves, need to realise the constant rng at play means this game will never be competitive and so both sides should be able to have as much fun as possible

Could we please stop mixing the general word "competitive" with eSports level of competitive?

This still is a two sides pvp game and probably the only asymmetrical one still alive to boot.

There is absolutely no control over how either side is going to play each match. So it is always to be assumed that at least one will try to win, no matter if the other is simply playing to chill. (A concept that completely eludes me in pvp games when not everybody has the opportunity to pay with friend to goof around. For example playing a full tank/support team in lol or shield squad in R6s)

  • Well I would say you play it like a billy/blight on rod and go simply in as an M1 killer. Not much else you can do there except trying your best with the options given to you.

  • I love the mentality that those people bring /s

Everyone should go into queue with the mental preparation to expect to face any of the 20+ killer and play it like a big boy instead of trying to cherry pick their adversary.

As if I would quit every game in league of legends once no one has banned and someone has picked yasuo, yon or master Yi or the like. The ones in my team always suck with the usual 0/10 powerspike or get fed when in the enemy team and I still play that game out instead of going afk or quitting.

  • Wasn't the effectiveness against console killer the reason 360s were invented? And soon after also used on PC?

I can't remember the time before the console version very well but i think that 360s weren't really a thing before then. But that might also be because the game had other methods still implemented and they were unnecessary at that time.

  • Why do people expect to be able to play a PVP game with two distinct opposing sides and counteracting objective to chill?

You never have any control over how your opponent is gonna play, also chill or trying hard to "win", outside of not caring for the outcome of one's own match.

Especially as killer when all responsibility lies on oneself or as survivor with potatoes teammates.

I could understand to be able to chill in team pvp games with premades to goof around but never as solo (again outside of not caring for the outcome and just playing relaxed. But that would make this whole question thread obsolete and seems not to be the goal of the op).

Sorry but i don't understand? 2-8 and 3 what? Pm, am ... Apples?

Killer queue times have always been longer.

You could actually track this with peer to peer. Not so much now that its centralised.

I suspect the average killer is more engaged with the game than the average survivor. Therefore killers are here to up their mmr/grade etc. Where as the average survivor has just been playing as usual.

Historically I've observed low rank survivors getting fed to high rank killers to try to bring down queue times. As someone whose played since release, if I saw a couple games where I was expected to carry low rank survivors, say 2 games, on the 3rd game id get a low rank killer. I guess to 'balance' it out.

The thing I find curious is that the devs havent ever really cared for their newb survivors. With the expectations around how to effectively manage your game; things like noed (cleanse totems) etc. Or before the ruin nerf, which was just creating trainwrecks at low ranks. I guess theirs an exponential amount of new survivors that keep feeding the algorithm.

I'm always curious if at some point the number will dry up. Because its generally a miserable experience for low rank survivors.

First sentence is already false since it was always dependant on region and time of day and is mostly subjective.

My game in eu west after 8 pm in the last 6 months had queues so short that i couldn't even choose which BP offering to pick.

In the morning to afternoon I would've to wait 2-10 minutes.

Now with sbmmr there is no longer this extreme rank widening for matching with long queue time (for now). And the distribution of killers and survivors across ratings is most probably just not the perfect bell curve it would need for fast queues. Coupled with the disparity between the perfect 4:1 ratio depending on day time like before sbmmr.

  • Those aren't ranks anymore but "grade". They are only representative of how much a player has played between resets.

For example you can't lose progress on grades even when depiping, it is handled like a black pip.

They are only used to distribute grade rewards for continuing playing DBD certain (insane) amount each month so you don't paly something else.

  • Yeah but to be honest in one point they are right.

The amount of BP is really hilariously low.

After 5 years and improving (?) the code of the game to prevent client side manipulation i would say that the BP limit of a million is way outdated.

And the rewards could maybe be doubled or quadrupled to a million and it still wouldn't hurt the possible grind of, by now, maybe up to 2 BILLION BP.

But to expect a currency that let's people bypass in game microtransactions is hilarious. As if the people in charge would shoot themselves in their feet and lower their expected profits.

  • Okay this made me honestly laugh.

People didn't get Jack before and now that they get something, it is not enough 😂

It's almost sad how stupidly entitled this sounds.

  • First it IS a pvp game were it is never clear if one side wants to play serious while the other want to chill or not, so it is competitive just not on a professional level. There is a distinction between eSports and normal competition.

And second i love how people rage at the new mmr within less than a week when we know the usually slothlike slow devs haven't had the chance to address anything and take the situation now as an absolute.

This mmr and with it the killer lock are the first things in this game in its five years of lifetime that give a "fixed" point between matches to balance around.

Before this not only maps/perks/killers but also matchmaking (thanks to highly unbalanced amounts of people queueing up for respective roles and the mmr rank widening accompanying it) was also rng.

You balance out scales ⚖️ without a fix point in the middle.

It took several years to get to the "balanced" status the game has today, so we all have to put on our big boy pants and be patient for the devs to make balancing choices going forward with the new data they will compile when killer and survivor finally (maybe) can see eye to eye skill wise.

  • I love it. Nee mmr is out less than a week and despite "everybody knowing" how it would be, no one is chill enough to endure a few months of slightly more ######### than before so the admittinly slow ASF devs have even the chance to balance the game.

Mmr is THE first time they took something rng out of the game and gave themselves a rather "fixed" point to balance around (given the assumption mmr works and that the sweat problems right now origin from in-game balance problems).

But everybody complaining is seemingly expecting to get a perfect system from one patch to another despite the devs having to build it on the ruins of their screwed up base game.

What people have to understand is that this kind of change has to be looked at like for a new released game. There mmr is also wonky, balance is not given and everything has to iron itself out over the course of several months. Just DBD is already out for 5 years and has been the constant reason for whining on the forums, even before sbmmr but since the were mixed between people on the same skill level and bad players most people were fine.

But streamer going on a several dozen winning spree is not something that should be possible in any pvp game with a proper matchmaking. Just like eSports player in league of legends end up nearly exclusively playing each other in their respective region and not stomping the 95% of the rest of the player base on a regular basis.

    makes no sense to me.

dedi servers and hitboxes could be prevented by the devs but streched and balancing swf cant?

who is deciding what is cheating at a game and what not? the devs right? so if they say "swf and playing on comms isnt cheating" then its not cheating or am i wrong?

so why do people keep saying that please explain it to me.

Using 3rd party Software to gain any form of advantage over other players is game nonspecific considered "cheating".

Comms in general can give an advantage but potentially to both sides to the same amount.

In an asymmetrical game this is not the case, the killer can be in discord or TeamSpeak with as many people as they want it won't give them any tactical advantage unlike for the 4 survivor having the potential to exchange information which would normally need up to a dozen different perks.

And lastly the devs neither call those things cheating nor do they condone camping, tunneling and slugging in any form as punishable or toxic.

Why? Because they can't do anything against any of those without having to fear extreme backlash from the respective party. Survivor would leave if they couldn't play with friends anymore (and behaviour can't do anything to prevent out of game coms) or queue times would be unbearable when separating swf somehow from solo (no idea how 2/3 mens should fit into this picture). And killer would quit if somehow several approaches in their gameplay would either become hard punished or made impossible, affecting not only the jerk players but also normal ones.

People are already complaining that this chapter only came with a killer...

While forgetting that the re one came with 2 survivor XD

Edit: Given the fact that every new survivor is just a reskin and that the only real new addition are the 3 perks accompanying them.
