No way, did you used to post on GD (League Forums?)
I miss them so much.Only a little bit when I had downtime at work.
I mostly enjoyed the outrage of people about their "unfair" bans and their attempts at appeals.
-
The irony of MULTIPLE comments in this thread only being "The content has been removed". 😂
Well, I witnessed the death of the league of legends Forums and came here. Now I will witness the death of this one. I am curious where it will bring me next.
Farewell everyone, may our Lord and Savior Lightborn be with you all on your future journey and protect you from the blinding light outside the basements we all dwell in. 🫲😎🫱

Most probably because the game engine and systems don't allow it.
Either you have a smaller spider that fits the door-/hallways which then would need to be so small that survivor wouldn't be able to see it over loop obstacle. (No idea how much of a problem this really is since I never played with Chucky released).
Or you get a big spider that won't fit through loops, doorways hallways without looking goofy and I don't think their model engine would even allow something like context sensitive retracting/folding spider legs.
And last, any power I imagined a few years ago when pitching a spider concept would also most probably not be supported by the game engine.
The other option would be another boring simple leap killer like stranger things one (I've forgotten the name 😅).

Just looks like they downvoted a Dev trying to listen.
The context to what they are saying in that post must be unpopular. So better bloodpoint rewards is not needed as current BP gains must be fine.
It got down voted because this and another post from Daniel/balrog, I've seen on this forum in a BP discussion a few days ago, boil down to "thanks for the feedback if necessary we will look into the matter" empty corporate answer.
"I'll look into it" is the most basic empty phrase one can use to get an annoying customer off of your back.
Edit: here is the aforementioned thread with Balrogs post:

I've always had this question in my mind every time I bought a new DLC but never dared to ask it out loud. But with the recent discussion about the nerf of blood point gain I feel why not give it a shot.
First of all to clarify, I am a very infrequent player. Maybe I play this game like 3-4 times each quartal of the year. I've got every survivor on at least P1 and still have a few killer perks unlocked from back in the day when teachables were obtained on level 35, 40 and 45 I believe. So while it doesn't affect me as much, it still does affect me in a way.
So why do I still have to do all that grinding? I bought every DLC on Steam, kinda dumb I know. But the point is, if I already pay for something why am I still being gatekept for using the perks on the characters I like to play. They could at least be unlocked in the bloodweb by default so I don't have to waste the blood points I have on a character I probably will never play anyways. Nothing against the art team, but some characters are just boring or their running animation/sound design just irks me.
And how does it affect me now? Basically because I do not play this game so often I started hoarding blood points instead of spending them. Instead of getting items and offerings on the characters I like to play that could maybe make the game more fun I chose to spend nothing in case the new DLC might get a good perk that could change up the meta at least a little.
And I already got the luxury that I have the survivor side "complete". If I would start on a new account today I would probably quit after 2-3 gaming sessions because the progress system of this game is just abysmally slow. Just seeing the sheer number of almost 100 prestige levels (including killers of course) to at least unlock every perk compared to the low amount of blood points I am getting feels straight up wrong.
-
"The guilt of sinners weighs heavily upon the angel, making his steps slow and labored." 😂
-
They should just remove the hard cap and introduce a soft cap via diminishing returns at certain breakpoints to counter potential abuse.
For example once you reach 10k+ points in a category every point beyond is counted for 0.9, 15k+ it goes to 1:0,8 and so on.
-
They serve as potential sacrifices in the name of our Lord and Savior Lightborn. Praise be our Lord. 🫲😎🫱
-
And 30 minutes indicates that either you DC regularly or you had a streak of disconnects by crashing and didn't get the hint that today might not be a good day to play dbd.
-
As someone who only gets his info from the forum for years now, I would say 2vs8 is partially to blame aside from the rudimentary 1vs4 aspect and the overall balance shift from survivor over to killer.
It made playing killer with a friend possible. Just one pair of duo survivor wanting to play killer together shift the ratio. In an isolated example it goes from from 1:4 to 3:2 and suddenly you need 10 more survivor to fill that up to 3:12, given there would now be a 1:4 normal match and a 2:8 match.
-
It really depends on each individual post and what kind of people are online at the time the post is fresh.
I have seen positive feedback and rant posts about killer and survivor getting massively up or down voted.
From outside/headline heavily biased looking posts where I go in, thinking "oh boy, this is probably getting down voted into oblivion or upvoted sky-high" but I would be wrong half the time.

Well every time it happens, I get the error, click okay and I go to the main screen, not back to the lobby screen.. so that should say something right there. I don't crash to desktop and the whole game is not closed.
I would guess that the error message you get reads something along the lines of "Connection to server lost." Aka the signal went dark for whatever reason and the software on either side can't make an educated guess what the reason was. Therefore you end up with a penalty.
And like I said, if the whole client crashed and send you to your desktop, many other games can create a crash report which then could be sent to the bhvr server to revoke a ban.
-
No, from a technological viewpoint it is impossible to, for example, differentiate between a power outage on your end or you simply turning off your router/wifi.
The signal the server is expecting is simply going dark and the game Client Software isn't made to verify why.
The ONLY things that would work is either when the client crashes on your end and the software takes note of that and sends a report or the server has problems and has diagnostics for that and would revoke the DC penalty in that case.
-
For me it is simply a tool to express if I agree or disagree with a post without commenting "yeah, I think the same" or "nah, I don't think so.", when I don't really have an argument for the matter at hand.
-
As someone who hasn't played in years, I would guess it's the combination of
- her not being a simple killer with a straight forward power and
- being rarely played so (new) survivor player lack experience with her mechanics,
resulting in losing their cool and playing worse than normally.
(Damn, I ended up doing the same thing I normally hate by posting without reading the thread. Only afterwards I saw that people made the same points already 😅)

Maybe because the game puts wholesome casuals trying to destress against tryhard streamers who wanna get the highest winstreak in an unranked mode. Nobody except masochists and the party who is stomping would wanna play that type of match. It just happens to be on the survivor side often because one bad survivor can ruin it for the rest.
How about we stop prioritizing queue times for the guys at 70%+ ER/KR who can't afford spending 10 minutes in the queue because they have no fair opponent? How about we don't let them add another free win to their winstreak count? Is that a srange concept for dead by daylight because its asymmetrical and special compared to the rest of the multiplayer games ever made?
Idk why dead by daylight despite being almost 10 years old now lacks a ranked and unranked queue, or just a proper matchmaking system in the first place. Most multiplayer games with competitive gameplay have some form of ranked/unranked separation.
Frankly im very tired of this degenerate, backwards matchmaking system which puts anyone with anyone. It's literally NOT fair at all. It feels completely random. Coupled with the fact that 1 survivor is mathematically unable to carry alone, it becomes VERY frustrating I feel like I am in a coinflip simulator. Am i gonna get good teammates or not? Am i gonna play against a competent swf who uses their brain or am i gonna play against 4 fishes flopping like they were just caught out of the sea? The game is held together by duct tape and announced but often unfulfilled hopes and dreams by the devs.
The funny thing for me is that people have forgotten that the current MMR was implemented because the rank based matchmaking had the exact same problem.
Especially after ranks became a metric for "time invested" rather than constant display of skill and the vast majority of regular players ended up in red rank. This lead to the infamous "rainbow rank" matches because the lower ranks didn't have a huge player population.
Everything got matched with everything back then. Then they implemented a stricter version of the current system but got more and more softened coupled with backfill to cut queue times. Right back to invisible rainbow matches.

I did a similar experiment a few years ago with my 200-300 hour account, back when survivor mains on this forum started to increasingly complain about tunneling/camping and played extremely survivor friendly. From intentionally playing like a newby to playing for the kill while making sure to not double hook and avoid areas with the last hooked survivor.
My result in regards to chat was a little bit different from yours. It was a very roughly 70/15/15% split between silence toxic and positive chats. But I guess the influence of social media has worsened this aspect.
But what I can say is that survivor back then didn't care for the killer players experience. When it didn't end in a full farm game or when I was facing obvious baby survivors, they didn't hold back at all and all forms of taunting/attention seeking were rather the norm than an exception.

the biggest catalyst right now would be that they promised to shake up the game and fix the tunneling and slugging issue.
which got reverted due to killers mains whining that they cant get easy games anymore….even though those low tier killers would've been more compensated overtime with more changes…
on top of the survivor soloq nerfs, perk nerfs, 90% perks released last year being useless or not fun to use overall (just look at fog-vials)
then killers like kaneki who are left unchanged and "bugged" for months on end.
soloq still being miserable with close to no improvements,
this is what you get. its like i keep hurting on you on purpose and promise to give you money for enduring the pain and then i keep hurting you, over and over. you would be tilted too. It's really funny seeing how you seemingly don't see the irony in what you said.
On one hand it's
which got reverted due to killers mains whining that they cant get easy games anymore….even though those low tier killers would've been more compensated overtime with more changes…
But then you mention
then killers like kaneki who are left unchanged and "bugged" for months on end.
Those "whiney killers" know how bhvr operates and don't believe in the promise of buffing low tier killer in any reasonable timeframe.
As someone who hasn't played for years now, I gather from the forums that the current kill rate is on average +/- 5% around the targeted 60% threshold. And that is with the ability to tunnel and camp.
I can only imagine how much that metric would tank (since many player DO fall back on those strategies and might be carried by them) and how long it would take for this forum to be filled with complaints about survivor queue times or missing killer variety.
Such a massive invasive influence on player agency has to be thoroughly planned and tested so as not to destroy the game. Something similar happened or still happens for example in wow now with their addon Exodus that was immensely back paddled because they are unable to fully compensate.

People are gonna hate me for saying this, but I really think a lot of the rage quitting and tantrum stuff in dbd is at least partially caused by not having a full on ranked and unranked mode. Dbd was (and according to the devs still is I guess) a "casual fun game." It was never designed to be this knock down, drag out comp fest. And yet its become that and you can't even get away from it. At higher mmr, it's every match. And you can't fail a bunch of times and sink all the way down because there are those set caps to keep you from doing just that.
And if we had a "casual it's all about fun" mode, I'd say take the dc penalty away in that one and funnel all the rage quitters out of the "ranked serious" mode. If people are just wanting fun, they can quit over in fun casual mode. Yeah, some people would end up playing with bots. But they're doing that anyway.
I'm not hating you but what would prevent people with competitive mindset from going unranked mode to dunk on casual people?
That wouldn't work without a working strict matchmaking system like in league of legends.
I never played much ranked there, stayed bronze from the dew time I bother, but since my base skill increased I still got matched against gold.
And when I played with a grandmaster/challenger friend I had to survive against diamond opponents. All in normal queue.

why would they do that tho
the pretty girl would've brought in more sales.
Unrelated to dbd specifically:
As if people with a "message" would care about profitability, looking at Hollywood and/or some game developers during the last 5-10 years.
-
A general tip when trying to get friends into PVP games with a matchmaking system:
If you can, create a second, new account yourself. Making them play in a group with your usual account will set them up against opponents far out of their league.
I speak from experience, having played with a challenger account in league of legends. Even in normal queue we got matched against diamond opponents while having one or two people on our team that played like wood tier.
No idea how accurate this is for dbd at this point but it might be a contributing factor in their experience, getting set up against killer far more skilled than them. Or dbd is shitting the bad as usual and this won't matter at all.😅

There have been WAY too many times now where I am repeatedly kicked from a match and get the "dedicated servers" are not responding message. This has been an ongoing issue for me for over two years now but now it seems like I can barely ever get through a single without this issue happening, but what makes it far worse is that it counts towards the DC penalty which means I often get a wrongful 15 minute or 30 minute or sometimes even 1 hour DC penalty all because the servers can't function correctly. I should not be punished for this, the DC penalty should be based on players leaving a match on their own by hitting the "leave match" button instead of if you lose connection to a match.
What you have is not a crash on either side but the connection between you and the server going dark.
Machines cannot differentiate between the reasons why the connection cuts, they only recognize crashes and like others have said won't give a penalty if it was the server having problems.
It looks all the same to them: a hiccup from you Internet provider, you turning off your wifi/router, a blackout, pulling the plug of your PC/console and so on.
Hence you get a provisional DC penalty.
Reduce DC penalties down to "leave match" button only and you will see a sharp increase of mystereous connection losses across-the-board.

Y'all should check NL stats and tell me what you think would happen to them if hypothetically BHVR somehow magically removed tunneling from the game:
You take away tunneling, and it gets a lot easier to see which killers they need to balance. Take away what is inflating the winrates, and see where the averages land.
I am pretty sure we will see more killer buffs if they take away the ability to tunnel
We wouldn't or at least not fast enough.
Most people don't have any patience nowadays and even more importantly bhvr is notorious for their slow update/balancing pace outside of hot fixes every now and then. And even those take way longer than in many other lives service games.
Just like blizzard is doing right by removing something (combat add-ons API Access, burning the addon creators) and seemingly not getting their replacements done in a satisfactory or timely manner.
If bhvr takes out camping, tunneling and/or slugging and wait their usual time to address emerging trends for individual killer characters and only AFTER that start to create and implement fixes for that (which might be aimed at the wrong aspects like it has happened before many times) or god forbid try to lazily blanket balance everything with global killer changes once again, it really might end up breaking the game.

Normally that is frowned upon in the forums because most often the topic of the thread and arguments in the discussion are long out of date.
But in this case I would say it's relatively okay because the topic has nothing to to with the state of the game, like balancing, patches or the like.

the 33 was a random number, but 20/60 is 1/3 which = 33%, you uh, are aware of that right?
Ehm, that's exactly what I commented?
That would be either 20 out of 60 or 55%. 😜
Aka 20 out of 60 is 33%
Or the 33 out of 60 is 55%.
But I guess you like downvotes so much you are literally farming them.

@Metagamer said:
It feels like to me no matter how accurate/factual the thing you say is, no matter how much proof you have to back it up or how basic yet obvious of a statement it is, you will have atleast a 33% downvote to upvote ratio.
I mean I could genuinely say "I think Trapper is way too weak and needs buffs" and if that gets 60 upvotes, I would still get ATLEAST 33 down votes. It genuinely has me perplexed that someone could disagree with some of the stuff people have said here, relating to both survivor or killer side experiences.
Can we please like shine some light on this? Because I feel like this is a major obstacle that prevents feedback from being seen as it should be to BHVR, as they may see something VERY correct/a good idea but see a 50/50 split on upvotes to votes and go "oh it had mixed reactions we don't wanna consider that".Downvote from me because 33 isn't 33% of 60. That would be either 20 out of 60 or 55%. 😜
-
At this point it is just funny to me how often this complaint comes up and is simply dismissed.
Me among others have made this point for several years now and there won't ever be anything done to mitigate it. Just the usual "don't be a b*", "just push them out", "This not the same as XYZ".
-
Cheating or not. I personally I find it cringe worthy to sweat for advantages at every opportunity.
I have seen collab streams were some had the game on normal settings and the next had it ultra bright with shader or some with the aspect ratio stretching.
It looked ugly as anything and in my opinion people that have to step that low are kinda pathetic. (Ignoring accessibility issues)

Yeah honestly hot take but it's probably a good thing killer players are getting filtered by these changes there isn't enough survivors to cater to everybody and playing survivor sure ain't fun with all the camping tunneling and slugging.
We're weeding out the bad players who heavily rely on that stuff need to go.
it's probably a good thing killer players are getting filtered by these changes there isn't enough survivors to cater to everybody
Ehm, you understand that if survivor queues get long, it means there is a deficit in killer players for the waiting survivor pool, right?
It means there is no shortage of survivor at that given time but not enough killer players.
"Filtering out" more of them would make the issue worse.

@09SHARKBOSS said:
i gotta agree as a killer myself we should view it as hooks = a win and not kills a kill is 3 hooks x4 survivors which as you know is 12 but 9 hooks is still a 75% heck 8 is still a win and you can do that without getting a single kill
It shouldn't need to be "we should view it as" but "the game treats/reflects it as".
My experience is several years outdated but nothing in the game treats a 8 hooks/0 kills better than a 4h/4k and im pretty sure that hasn't changed in the last few years.
There is no rewarding representation of the first vs second case and everything in-between. Stop asking people to shift their view and instead for the game to make it feel rewarding.
-
And how would that supposedly work for 4 survivor and the 1 killer?
What if another survivor or the killer uses a different offering? Is the chance still 75% for you?
What if all survivor use one and the killer uses another? Can the 4 survivor force their map or is the killer equal?
What if all survivor use 4 different one plus the killer with another one? Are all 5 now equally possible or does the killer one outweigh the others?

Damn, cheating is "getting out hand" every few months when looking at the forums.

I haven't played any of the killer after trickster, so my opinion is limited. But I for my life can't properly play this guy.
I get hung up on everything and am useless with his power around loops and frankly anywhere outside of map traversal.

It's one of the reasons I quit dbd a few years ago as a killer main.
As it is with human psyche, the "few" bad matches drown out the good in memory and this game wasn't nearly enough fun for me, outside it's unique characteristics, to continue the one sided harassment.

So, HUD isn't permanently showing gen progress, like hook states are. At best, the HUD reminds you that the objective is progressing and only while it's progressing. Exactly like actively putting someone on hook does.
So it was equivalent, now it's not.
I'm also not sure why my take is "it's game knowledge that anyone can do" is controversial, yet the majority seem to want "just make it available, I can't handle it otherwise" is seen as the reasonable take on this. I guarantee people can, 9 years of evidence on this one.
It's moot, really. I don't have strong feeling about it, I just think it's not necessary. Clearly the devs want to do this, so whatever. I just don't understand why remembering is that hard, and it's not that impactful either.
I would call that a false equivalent.
Gens show their progress by cylinder movement with only a glance (at least the last time I played), survivor on the other hand don't.
Make survivor more worn out/injured optically/whatever after the first or second hook and it would've been fine for your comparison but their isn't anything like that.
And the chance of two or more survivor using the same skin is pretty high. Even higher for swf going for some kind of shenanigans.
-
Finally, after crying for this feature for years. I can't remember how often I hooked someone and they got insta sacrificed because I didn't remember them going second stage only to feel bad because I was at less than 6 hooks overall.

They listened to the loud minority screaming "punish them" instead of the much larger group asking "can you make the gameplay not suck so that people naturally want to play it out?"
The jury is still out as to whether or not the second group will ever actually see those changes.
Maybe, just maaaayyyyybe, because your "larger" group will never be happy?
Because it contains everything from the joe-schmoe that didn't get the map/killer/teammates/chase time/.... they wanted up to people that have legitimate problems and there is no way to differentiate between them but they all chant the same "make the gameplay not suck" mantra.

Just seems silly to be punished for dcing when bots take over. Just take the W. Like what is that hurting? Why be forced to stay in a match?
Because people that want to DC if they:
- don't like the map/killer,
- get found first,
- didn't last in the first chase as long as they hoped
- or whatever miniscule reason you can come with for an early exit,
will abuse a free pass to DC and playing against bots is neither the goal of this game nor fun.

It was for the first like year or maybe two that survivors couldn't swf, what.
What are you on about?
Survivor got the functionality to queue with friends a few weeks after release in 1.0.3 because lobby dodging to find friends was outrageous.
-
The fact that one side never could play with friends, outside of private lobbies, (for the first 6-7 years of the games release) against people that most often would do everything to ruin the others sides day for their own fun dismisses dbd from being a party game in my opinion.
-
What interests me is what happens to/with tenacity now. Does it get a rework or does it interact/stack with this new effect.
I would love to see speed snails. 😂
-
2vs8 is inevitably draining most survivor player so killer in normal 1vs4 will have to wait extra long.
Not only can survivor play in groups twice the size with way better chances to not get found first/all the time but also for example solo/duo survivor can suddenly play killer with someone else/their partner.
2vs8 takes a little bit of the stress from killer to do everything alone (I imagine, haven't played in years) and it allows to play with friends on the other side.
Getting rid of MMR won't help you, most probably people will flock to 2vs8 even more for the reasons above when they get stomped against killer that outmatch them on the regular.
