  • Same as the others said, why are your teammates forced to try a rescue attempt during endgame or straight up egc?

I as killer main see that with the same greed as the killer slugging for the 4k. The killer has won with a 3k and survivor won with a 3e. Sucks for the left survivor but this game isn't built around 4k or 4e.

Ideally 1 or 2 survivor should die every trial and the 4k/e should be edge cases instead of the other way around at the moment.

  • @DoritoHead said:

I did it once as Dredge, on swamp no less. Very funny to do because you drag the survivor into the locker so you can educate them about our lord and savior Dwight Fairfield.

The blasphemy against the one and only true lord, Lightborn!!! 😜

People say nurse is fair because of her skill ceiling but if people played against a god nurse for 20 straight matches they'd realise how busted the killer is. A killer that can basically ignore pallets and windows so the only counter is hope she messed up her blinks.

And if i played against 20 god nurses or 20 elite squad swfs, i would go get a lottery ticket because the odds of me winning the jackpot are the same, astronomical.

    seriously what the hell

You got ghostface, gets nerfed by one loop

pig, which can be good with perks but her traps feel random even with changes

Nemsis, worst damn addons in this damn game

    Sadako, forgotten

Myers, impossible to play without perks

Demodoggy, doesn't exist anymore (can't say anything about it)

    Cenobite, again a forgotten killer

Pyramid head, will say is a bit good when he has the element of surprise but somehow made his movements feel so awkward while using the rites of judgments

Freddy : i forgot he even exists

the only good license killer is bubba, because he can one shot, which is honestly feels boring in general, but feels amazing when u want to make everyone suffer

and yet you might say some original characters are weak but let me remind you, at their time they were gods of the game, they just aged poorly

and then we get some forgotten original killers

Artist, can literally nerf any damn loop, she is just underrated

hag, again broken af but boring to play with or against since u always got a down

Trapper, you feel like Lex Luther when someone gets caught in your trap

Wraith, has either sanic build or sneaky

hot take : twins are a good since u can put vic as a UAV anywhere to check for survivors but the switching time is what's holding them back

    Deathslinger, literally has an AWP

you get the point basically, every license killer feels nerfed on release while original killers are good but tend to age poorly, im gonna be honest i wasn't drawn to this game by nurse or blight

piggy is what drew me here because im a huge fan of the saw movies, then ghostface brought me back

it just feels sad that killers that people enjoy are so weak while u can just pick nurse and guarantee a 4k every game which is just lame and boring

But feel free to tell me how nemsis has the best addons, even tho he doesn't have a single addon that exhausts or literally does anything else

Why should they need to make licensed killer strong as a selling point when their franchise and their name/brand can take care of that /S

Because killers think they’re entitled to a kill just because it’s EGC.

    Not really.

It's because "fair" playing killer that 100% don't camp, tunnel or slug and spread the hooks evenly for max survivor fun time can basically open the gates themselves and go afk for 3 minutes since the combination of multiple second chance perks on nearly all survivor plus them bodyblocking for each other (safely due to their own second chance perks, even on deathhook) make trying to get even 1 kill at that point a useless endeavor.

Couple this with other survivor favorites like no nurse/blight and no noed. Because that's the way i played for the last 2 years and you can imagine how much "respect" i got for playing like most survivor want.

You're joking right? 90%of the time you get spawned right next to the totem. Also the Dredge has no way to protect their totems IF they have any. If you break the totem the effect goes away. That's how hexes have always been. Are you seriously still so green you haven't figured that out?

Nah they are so uber pro that they can see DBD only through the eyes of a several thousand hours nurse/blight on one side and a noob survivor on the other.

People checked online stats and it came up that sluzzy has 40k+ blink hits on nurse and 20k+ rush hits on blight.

They are a killer main and complain about everything when they play solo survivor or noob swf.

  • Already needs a buff? I think you mean still.

Afaik nothing has happened in this direction since her release. I mean nothing meaningful.

Well since this post is only about survivor how do you feel about an option for killer to open an exit door and start egc at any point in a trial without the 5 finished gens to quit an unfun trial?

No doubt that SWF needs a look at but at the end of the day what percentage of the population does SWF make? According to one of the only recent studies on that it was a unsurprisingly small number. Additionally studies have shown that SWF's vs killers at the highest ranks are fairly balanced but of course the outrage is going to come from the lopsided balance seen when a SWF dominates killers when these skill levels aren't so even.

Weren't those numbers only for full 4 men's?

Because at the end of last year during evening prime time in eu with cross play, 2,3,4 people swf made up half the playerbase, checking profiles and matching names.

  • And now imagine it isn't 1,6k hours but 5-10k like some people have.

I personally can't understand to play the same game for such an amount of time.

My most played game is lol and that even only because I had people to play it with but some people have thousands of hours on killer alone. And I have to say the gameplay in DBD is way too repetitive for me to go through such hell.

Before i play a thousand hours in DBD i play 50 different indie games. Or 10 triple A games.

And for information, i have 300 hours in DBD accumulated from release until December last year.

And let me end this by summing up all of your killer arguments: “We’re ENTITLED to beat up the 3 man team because it’s not against the rules and we would rather YOU have an awful UNFAIR experience than spend 5 minutes playing nice so that EVERYONE has a FAIR experience.” It’s basically the definition of unsportsmanlike so really… just stop arguing and face facts. That’s what you do. Enjoy your evening. : )

Hahahaha "5 minutes" in a farm game 😂 (i speak from experience as a friendly killer when i say it takes 10+ minutes with farming survivor to finally leave since the killer cant force them out until all gens are done. Unless he plays normally for kills 😱)

    "95% of all time"

"Game is balanced for 4 men swf", so killer is equal to 4 men swf on comms? Hahahahahah

"Face the facts"? Which ones? Your arbitrarily, anecdotal, self imposed ones? Hahahahah

Yes the Dark Times were certainly worse.

However, I think they are excusable as a rough start.

The thing that IMO makes this recent time periode worse than the Dark Times is not that it's the lowest low the game has ever had, but that prior to this we were at a decent spot and it actively regressed from that.

The game got worse over time, not better - and THAT is the problem I have with it!

I think that's also the reason for why I quit DbD when I noticed this downward trend, yet powered through the Dark Times back in the day.

Well that's what I meant with the part about

"but SBMMR was implemented without further keeping the course and then came things like some specific killer nerfs, boons, map reworks and so on and it feel like the gap balancing wise is widening again."

Maybe that was not clear and easy to understand but i meant basically the same you did.

The game was worse but went from nearly good to bad again.

True all games are bad in solo Q but Dbd is worse, solo q is really a slaughter and BP gain is too low, it's a shame cause it's my favorite role but it feels pointless right now, I can just play killer with BBQ and gain 3x more BP even if I play like a monkey

Well if one side has the incentive of playing with friends and the other isn't, while playing alone, satisfying enough and more stressful and micromanaging on top of it then you need at least some incentive to even play it. Hence why they finally are going to implement the additional BP incentive for the role with less players. And it is going most definitely the killer side during prime time.

The developers have waited way to long to address both of those but it does look like they are finally looking at game health and specifically on those 2 items.

Took only losing half their (PC/steam) playerbase since the influx from last year's anniversary.

They only move if the pressure on them is big enough, just like with colorblind mode and the public drama.

As if the overwhelming majority of killers don't tunnel and slug as is? Please.

And why shouldn't they? The only thing awaiting friendly killer like me that go out of their way to avoid those strategies is in the grand scheme indifference or the same toxic treatment.

There is a reason why not many of us are left in the game. Why try to be a saint when you already get treated like the devil.

And yes, "not every survivor does it" but so was it for non camping/tunneling killer and both sides have ruined each other over the last years.

  • All hail our lord and saviour Lightborn 😎

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/327443/why-not-remove-dead-hard-for-a-week

You can't just exclude Nurse when requesting Dead Hard to be removed. Plus Nurse is almost all you see at high end games, where Dead Hard is almost exclusively seen. There's probably a correlation there.

Maybe because the survivors up there know that dead hard is the most versatile and strong exhaustion perk in relation to its downsides and nurse is one of two killer able to keep up until the top?

  • What? Your proposal of making killer 100% movement speed (and whatever you meant with cool downs?) while also keeping windows and pallets in the game?

  • Solo is broken in most team games.

I played lol, rocket league, rainbow six siege and others and being solo is always a hefty disadvantage and the second main reason i quit most of those games.

If you don't have a team, you can't expect to win above a certain level and that level is sadly way to easy to reach.

  • Let's say in term of "trends", yes.

    In general terms, no.

Like @Pulsar said, dark times where way worse with the infinites, insta Mori, unbalanced killer powers and survivor perks and map generations.

Since then the game went closer and closer to balanced but SBMMR was implemented without further keeping the course and then came things like some specific killer nerfs, boons, map reworks and so on and it feel like the gap balancing wise is widening again.

So not the worsed but they had to step on the brakes for the ongoing trend and finally buckled with the upcoming changes.

It remains to see how much those changes will align with the wishes of the community and how satisfying they will be or if they end up lackluster or straight up detrimental like some changes in the past made by bhvr have shown to be.

  • Ahaha this reminds me of the rather Special individual that honestly had the opinion that the bloodweb is the most important feature in DBD and an integral part of the attractiveness of this game.

Edit: Here i dug up the old thread.

    @toxik_survivor said:

The bloodweb to many people is an OG game mechanic that, this sounds ridiculous, has sentimental value. Especially to 2016, 2017 players like me. The bloodweb in dbd is a core game mechanic that if removed, many veteran players will leave.

Now the whole specualtion on bloodweb being changed is because of grind and new players having too much grind. I personally believe the grind is fine, but I do not have a job or time consuming activities unlike many other people so I do see what people are getting at. But mostly people want to reduce the grind of this game a substantial amount and I completly disagree with this. It's like some players expect to get to rank 1, p3 everyone and have every perk in the game in a month. It's ridiculous.

I wouldn't mind an addition to the bloodweb mechanic, but I beg for it not to be changed because it is essentially the face of dead by daylight and one of the most unique leveling systems in all of video games. I wouldn't mind an extra something though like a workshop where you can buy specific items and perks for a little bit more bloodpoints than usual. That would be a cool addition to dbd, but I really hope the web will not be change.

Overall I do not know if the devs are considering changing the bloodweb, but I really hope they are not. I have heard way to much speculation and I'm starting to worry. If a dev does read this post which I do not know if they do, I strongly encourage that bhvr thinks about how detrimental taking the bloodweb away will be to this game and especially the veteran players. Thank you.

  • Well, it lies in the nature of asymmetrical pvp games and how they are balanced.

As someone that got bullied from elementary through middle/highschool (don't know exactly which term is correct, i am from Germany, it was from grade 1-10), i can say that the "everyone else is against/ganging up on you" feeling you get from aggressive, coordinated survivor is quite similar or very reminding of it.

Especially since not many killer are able to hold up against it, like you said, getting denied ever so often as killer. Most often the killer can only TRY and hit them but experienced survivor know how to switch aggro and will heal their soon after and in the end the killer can't gain anything.

Luckily and at the same time not, is this most often a case of failed matchmaking but we know how often it can happen with the way bhvr handles the MMR.

Wouldn't you have avoided all that time with Dwight by just going after Kate instead?

"Dwight takes a hit with bt" aka the killer gets bodyblocked by the Dwight and CAN'T go for the Kate.

Meanwhile Kate made distance and is only found after Dwight got slugged in the scenario because she came back for the flashlight save.

  • The reason i never run any hex perks, except i don't have anything on a new or fresh prestiged killer.

I mean have you never had the rush of excitement when you escape a trapper in the basement by Using DH over a trap and they stand in it? I mean it’s pretty fun!

Yeah, for you but not the trapper, who doesn't expect that his whole kit, outside of being a basic M1 killer, can become detrimental due to a perk without real downsides.

Like most things that are fun for one side are nothing but frustrating for the other.

  • How about you go for the healthy alternative of staying away from DBD like me 😜

Otherwise I prefer oni and plague second. They are two of the least complained about killers and can be quite fun to play.

  • @tomojim said:

IMP, killers hate these perks because they still function even if survivors don't bring them at all.

As a killer, you always have to assume survivors have DH, DS, BT. So we see that familiar and kind of stupid dramas in every match: killers can easily hit the survivor but have to wait for the DH, whether the survivor have it or not; killers can easily hit the injured survivor just got off the hook but they choose not to, because of the BT, whether the survivor have it or not; killers can easily pick up the dying survivor just got off the hook but they choose not to because of the DS, whether the survivor have it or not, and sometimes the survivor rush into a locker to make killers believe he or she has DS, even it's just a bluff.

As for UB, I don't really hate it, I think the situation is not the same with DH, DS and BT.

Maybe some players like the bluffing as some kind of mind game. But I think it's very unhealthy for this game. It already has lots of mind game elements, but all of them are not bluffing.

DH, DS and BT are mechanism-breakers, they make the process not the way it should be, and force killers to give up so many chances to get advantage. It's not fun at all, it is stupid.

In my view, I think these perks should be "visually recognizable," for example, if survivors A has BT, and he or she unhooks survivor B, killers should have seen some kind of highlight-aura on B, so no one can bluff, and it still functions well as a anti-tunneling perk. Most importantly, if A has no BT and unhook B in front of killers, they should pay.

Last, I really exciting for the upcoming 40s perks rebuild patch, I think the devs are well aware of these problems, and I hope they can really fix them.

I prefer to call these 3 "bluffing perks" instead of "second-chance perks."

We see that familiar and kind of stupid dramas in every match: killers can easily hit the survivors but have to wait for DH, whether they have it or not; killers can easily hit the injured survivors just got off the hook but choose not to because of BT, whether they have it or not; killers can easily pick up the dying survivors just got off the hook but still choose not to because of DS, whether that have it or not.

I understand some players may think bluffing is kind of mind game, but I don't think these perks are healthy for DBD. DBD already has lots of mind game elements, but all of them are not bluffing. You can call them "tricky" for sure, but not "bluffing" definitely.

Most importantly, these perks make the gaming process not the way it should be. They force killers to give up so many chance even if survivors don't bring them at all. How ridiculous it is?

  • Welcome to the ELO hell of any pvp game?

Other games with MMR and ELO are all the same. You either get lucky enough for multiple teams not full of potatoes, are so good that you can carry the team on your own or are stuck in ELO hell.

The only difference in DBD is that the killer side doesn't have that problem but is also balance wise not on par with equally skilled survivor in the general scheme.

Also, if you just want to climb only in ELO aka just survive then you might want to tune down your altruism and play selfish to the bitter end and just outlive the others and hope for hatch.

You don't have to carry the team, you "just" have to survive on your own.

Pipping, emblems and grades on the other hand are a whole different story.

  • I would assume use the number on the scoreboard at the end?

BP offerings, dailies, bloodhunts and so on are incalculable variables.

So i think they just want the amount of BP from the scoreboard to see the amount of interaction and trial length in relation or something like that.

Aka was it a fair game where on average 20k BP were earned on both sides or a one-sided stomp with 10k on one and 30k on the other side.

I had to look at it again. I didn't think about this, but total bloodpoints is how much you have total after the match.

the left number under "Match" is how much you earned for the match you just played. Make sure you are entering in the "Match" number, not the Total.

Ehm just for understanding, why would you put your personal total amount of BP in there in the first place?

Daily rituals and rift challenge bp rewards would ruin any viability of the data for this point.

  • @Blueberry said:

That's one of the big problems with the MMR.

With the old system even if you "lost" as long as you played well you were still moving up in rank thus increasing the quality of your teammates on average.

Now with MMR it's completely irrelevant if you played well if you still die because of teammates like that. Not only are you not getting better teammates but since you died it's now going to drop your MMR and give you even worse teammates than that. It's essentially going to lock you into a downward spiral.

Xeah but that was also the flaw of the old system. If you didn't outright suck, you managed to reach red ranks with enough time and dedication to playtime each month.

And we ended up with the hotpot of all skillevels in red and that was such a mess that in the end matchmaking was irrelevant and everyone got matched with everybody to ward of queue times.

  • Just do them after grade reset and play a few matches and it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

But yeah, heavy killer power use resulting in worse emblems was always and will always be stupid.

  • Ehm, every game with a working MMR is build to set you up against player of your own skill and not to feed you easier opponents?

If you want that, play against bots, when they finally come to this game.

That's the reason SBMMR was excitingly awaited by some of us.

The old rank system was only a mix of all skill levels stuck at red ranks.

Sadly they brought those circumstances back in a mild manner with softening the matchmaking criteria due to long queue times.

  • I have played 8hooks/0kills killer for months and nothing has happened. Throwing many games by letting survivor intentionally escape.

But i also played for max gameplay/BP while doing my challenges semi efficient without camping/tunneling/slugging.

Again, this is the loser's decision to eat it like that. If someone comes to them expressing respect and they react like bad losers, it is up to the loser to feel bad and ignore the respect, it is not BM to say gg.

Tbh I would rather say it is respectless to say nothing, would feel like they express "not worth talking to them, they were no competition".

And j still think that the winner always has to consider the feeling of the loser (if they have sportsmanship) when a game ends in a one-sided stomp, the premise all this discussion is based on. I don't care about close or semi close games, i am talking about 4e with 0/1 hooks, 4ks at 5 gens, 10/0 in soccer, 25/0 in volleyball and so on.

The loser never wants to hear anything from the winner and the winner doesn't have anything productive to say to the loser.

Anything else is just for self satisfaction of the winners like "i was just nice/a good sport".

No, you didn't read the room/atmosphere and didn't consider the feelings of the loser.

But i guess i won't convince you about my pov from the loser side and you won't convince me about yours so let's just end it here.
