Killers love to pretend they actually leave the hook when the reality is most of them just go far enough to entice people to go for the unhook and immediately rush /teleport back for the easy downs. Sadly this pathetic tactic results in majority of my actual hooks.

Good job throwing some more shade on killers and making your overall stands on the bias scale clear.

But i think the topic is about unhooks with killer still in eyesight aka way too early and most probably some new player thinking that the baseline 10 sec but would be a freebie at a save unhook which it isn't.

  • Awww, i was hoping for a new delusion level forum member, they bring the best entertainment. ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜œ

  • Which part of my block of text? The part about bully squads? If yes, yeah, it helps keeping chill. Also when their goal is to have fun at the killers expense then they can waste their own time.

Btw i do the same for survivor hanging out in the exit gate: Either get as many BP as possible out of those two minute or use them constructively for something else.

Playing nice as killer just makes you look like an idiot.I have tried playing the โ€œniceโ€ way and survivors have been stomping and tbagging at the gate.I should have stuck to being the hateful killer I was.Survivors do not care.

But you should just take them as an example and just stop caring yourself. That way you will be much less stressed out by playing killer and strictly aiming for kills.

But take my opinion with a grain of salt from a guy that played only 300 hours since release, played less than a dozen rounds as survivor, stopped going for any kills in the last two years and stopped playing the game nearly a year ago because it got incredibly boring doing the same again and again without goal, real progress or friends to play with since killer is a solo role.

  • @Archael said:

I know its hard role to play, you have to deal not only with a killer, but 3 other guys who may not be as usefull as should... but

I play mostly killers. Im quite mercifull (unless doing challange). Im trying to hook someone 2 times before start killing, and even this is rare, mostly i let survs escape after some intense game and chases. Sometimes i lost track of hook count and sacrifice someone unintentionally (I just realize that iri memento mori is best tool to track survs hook count... if i can do mori with it, it means that person is on its last hook... this information should be available to all killers.

But sometimes survs are just bad... and its nothing wrong to be bad, its time to learn and play. I hooked everyone of them twice, and because i had challange i had to kill them all, better - this would lower their mmr and let them play with some worse killers. I let them finish 2 gens before first kill, and another one before rampage.

A the end screen, when I said "gg", they said: "i hate you killer" and this made me sad :(

So are many, many , many killer players, even me sometimes.

  • I can't.

But since most often one survivor doesn't ready up, i get bored and check their profiles. Sometimes they are hidden sometimes not and the most ironically funny thing (IN MY EYES) is when 2 or 3 have their profile hidden but the last guy has all the others on their friendliest making the hidden profiles completely useless, at least in terms of being an obvious swf in DBD.

And if they either are all hidden or all console then i can't estimate in the first place.

And most importantly, I DONT CARE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I just played my non kill playstyle and the only goal is as many BP as possible without blatant and boring farming. Swf doesn't really make a difference there if they aren't a bully squad. And if they are, then they can have fun with a killer standing still and maybe looking at the chest in basement while I do something productive on my second screen or aside of the computer for the duration of the match.

Its obviously my opinion so I dont know what you really want me to say lmao.

"There seems to be a misconception..."

Except there isn't. Some find doc annoying to play as/against, you don't. It's subjective. Hence my first comment.

  • Oh hey a loaded question that isn't really a question but a cry for confirmation of ones own behaviour.

What i would do? Switch to my second screen and watch something on YouTube, go take a leak or something and just wait out the 2 minutes.

And if they save me in the meantime? Won't probably matter since teammates like that would most likely lead the killer straight back to the hook so i would be immediately back on in the second halve of my 2 minute waiting time.

I mean I just dont think the reasons to dislike him are as strong to be one of the worst killers in the game considering there are a lot of killers that is a lot worse to go againts and not just because they're op.

And especially since he's a balanced killer that's neither too op or too weak.

The fact is that for example his on-screen effects from madness alone go from annoyingly distracting up to a health hazard (not so much after the tuen down) depending on the individual player and I don't think you can just cast aside other peoples opinion just because your own experience differs, which you made your post sound like.

"I have a different experience, i guess all other are just exaggerating or wrong".

    Or in other words:

" Its not as bad for me, so it must be the same for the rest."

  • Damn I would've never thought that taste and like/dislike are subjective, who would've thought? /S ๐Ÿ™„

I've player a few matches as Trickster (who I barely plays) to try an old Main Attraction rift.

I've got rage-quits on first down with many matches. Way more than I'm used to with any other killer.

Is it a common experience with him?

I wouldn't be surprised to see a statistic that would see trickster, legion, doc, clown, nurse, blight, pinhead and a few others way above average in terms of ragequit DCs.

Some for their strength but many for the effects of their power like docs and clowns screen effects or legions and pinheads mechanics that constantly interfere with survivor gameplay.

  • How would you keep tryhards away from such a fun mode?

From my experience with other pvp games like lol, R6S, ow and others, this will result in a decrease at best since it will provide genuine ambitious player with a playing field for like minded people but in both queues (ranked and normal in other games) you will find a mixture of both mentalities.

And we still don't know if DBDs playerbase is big enough to survive such a split, especially for the people with crossplay off.

It takes 80 seconds for a complete gen, solo, and I was able to run Bubba for a bit but not much--Im ass at looping, and he insta-downed me--so lets graciously say I bought my team 110 seconds. Idk what they were doing BEFORE I got on hook. So from the second I was on hook, I scanned around and saw 1 of them on a gen, 1 standing nearby I think considering coming to help me but since I ran Kindred they could see Bubba was camping.

Phase 1 takes 60s, and phase 2 also takes 60 seconds. And as I said, one gen BARELY popped before I died, so that stands about right since they'd of finished the gen just as I was finishing up my 2nd phase--maybe 10 seconds before my final death rattle. Ando for all I know they also could have popped another gen immediately after my death. But if you account for people running around the map just trying to FIND gens, that can also eat up time especially if its an indoor map, or just a massive one. We were on the Haddonfield map, and 2 gens were near my hook so when I scanned for my other survivors they were all pretty far across the map so maybe they had to take some time to find the gens in the first place? Not sure.

TL:DR Idk why it took my team so long to do gens. My friend was on her own gen, and she didnt finish it before I died. Couldn't tell ya why it took her longer than 2min.

But I play soloque mostly, and on the rare occasion I have 1 friend I play with. Overall I always knew camping was a viable stradegy, mainly hoping on the survivors altruism, but now it seems even MORE powerful because if the survivors aren't super coordinated, as most soloques aren't, all you ahve to do is just find one, down them, camp, and repeat. If youre the unlucky first person like I was, you're punished for not being a looping god and depip from being facecamped.

Okay? Not how you explained in your og post:

Like the entire time it took for me to go through 2 full phases, 1 gen just BARELY popped. I could see each of my teammates were on different gens.

Thats why i asked because you made it sound like they were on gens for your whole hook duration, which is then impossible for them to NOT finish their gens in those 2 minutes.

  • Ah yes, nurses feet really turn me on. Or spirit cut up body with all it's skin exposure /s ๐Ÿคฆ

Play some Asian MMO and come back talking about "too much sex appeal". DBD is except for some dress cosmetics and belly free tops quite tame.

Until the above mentioned beach bikini and speedo outfits are a thing i would say we are "safe".

(It is borderline fascinating what people fret about when they have no other problems.)

  • We still just need a band aid fix in Form of a distraction category for BP and emblem progress that gives the camped survivor enough to safety pip and something between 5-10k, just for the getting camped for 2 hook stages.

But on another note, just for understanding, HOW did your teammates not manage to pop 3 gens if they were all on separate ones?

According to you they all had a 30-60 second headstart before you even went on hook and then another 120 second before you died. Even with 90 second gen times this seems like a skill issue on side of your teammates or you left something out of them running around while you were on hook.

Otherwise it's illogical for them to sit all on different gens for your whole hook duration and not finishing them without something else interfering like missed skill checks or the killers perks.

  • But you would have lowered your MMR a little bit so the next games don't become more of a sweat/tryhard fest for you.

The problem is if you always try to go for kills and don't relax and stop caring about the end screen, then inevitably you will end up using those strategies on a daily basis to keep up.

We all know that the game isn't balanced around going for 12 hooks regularly. The maximum potential success with that "friendly/fair" playtstyle lies way below the maximum MMR and you will reach a wall. (At least that would be the case with a properly working matchmaking that doesn't throw any logic out the window for the sake of fast queues)

  • I don't think it would work for one simple reason: the lack of patience and determination if the hooked survivor.

Many people already DC when they first get down because they deem their match as lost and not worth their time.

Why do you think they would suddenly stick around for 2 minutes just to lose themselves while the other 3 "win".

It would need one heck of a reward for the camped survivor to keep hanging for the whole 2 minutes. A thing that should've been implemented years ago anyway btw as a distraction bonus or something so camped survivor don't leave empty handed and don't depip because of the decision of the individual playing killer.

Stop being mean. They just wanted to know what the "exploid" is so she could make her own decision if it's bad or not.

I would not even call it an exploid cause it saves you like 0.1 seconds that's hardly something we need to change what you can set as input for

I don't think i was mean in my first answer. We aren't (or at least shouldn't be) small children here.

And if someone really wants to know such stuff then google is your friend and an open space like a forum really isn't the place to explain any kind of one sided advantages for the public to use, abuse or imitate.

If they want to find from third sources fine. from the game own websites? Not such a good thing.

And yes I know that nowadays the internet is such an open space that it is easy to find such things but still "advertising" them on the own websites isn't good.

So you really caused all that headache over something that easy to explain? For one I'm on console so I literally couldn't do this if I tried, Two I dont even play Hag so I'm not going to even consider trying this, and three do you even pay attention to words? I said for all I know it could be addons combos, meaning specific combos of addons to create a new tech not an actual addons. The fact that it took that much effort for a basic question is annoying

I don't care if you find it annoying.

Has it officially been acknowledged as an exploit though ? I've never heard of it being frowned upon by the devs before, but I could be wrong.

Any one sided advantage can be an exploit of a faulty game mechanic or hardware limitations like here.

Voice chat for example is basically an officially condoned exploit. (But is mostly grounded in the fact their they are unable to do anything against it)

  • @AverageKateMain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3261158#Comment_3261158

Okay then how exactly am I supposed to know the problem here if you won't tell me? For all I know, it's a basic game addons that's being complained about

First of all, hag doesn't have a "scroll wheel" addon. A quick Google search on the fandom wiki helps there.

Second, why would someone need to know how to use some exploit except to use them to get an advantage in a game themselves?

And third, just to satisfy your curiosity (since this isn't as much of a big deal as others), they bind the action button used for teleporting to her traps on mousewheele up or down and then simple scroll when they guess someone is tripping one of her traps and that give them a slightly faster reaction time.

Why mousewheele? Because you can have free scrolling on some PC mise.

i see this idea quite alot. And i cant really follow it, because im always asking myself: "what does stop sweatheads (or trolls) to que up on casual and stomp people that dont feel like sweating?" Or maybe it could be an automated thing, out of players control but for an AI to learn to differ between Casual and Sweaty players is not that easy. 4k doesnt neccessarly mean the killer did sweat for it, especcially when they didnt reach the softcap yet.

And an escape also doesnt mean neccessarly sweating if it was an AFK bot or just someone farming. So an AI couldnt do it either.

Well at least the real hard core competitive (literally, not eSports) player will go for ranked and not the casual queue.

Right now they are ABSOLUTELY mixed together. Especially since the sbmmr bhvr created/changed for the sake of brevity is crap.

It's not a sign that "no survivor wants to play anymore". Just that survivor are below the perfect 80% ratio. Queue times would be a better indicator on the deviation from that but the devs have thrown that out of the window with their barely remaining matchmaking.

Thinking about the DBD from long time ago (1.4.2 version), the original version of BT gave the unhooker also an endurance status, that would be a nice balance change given the circumstances of how much killers rely on cheap tactics like camping and tunneling on first hook this days.

If you try to unhook the camped survivor is a guarenteed trade off right now, a win win for the killer and ignoring the hooked isn't a solution either because there isn't enough time to finish gens, and even less if there are suicides which there will surely be because its a miserable experience to get camped or tunneled in first hook.

The devs literally have the tools to balance the game, but it looks like they are too focused on realeasing new chapters and skins.. I hope they consider bringing back original BT to stop this awful experiences for once.

Because that isn't a solution but brings another problem.

A free unhook no matter the circumstances isn't any better.

Survivor would just bumrush the hook without any regard.

It would punish a camper the same as a normal killer getting let back to the hook because it's a lose/lose scenario for them. That's also a reason why it was changed in the first place.

I don't care what you said about solo or not.

I just told you WHY IT IS THE WAY IT IS. In the beginning of the game, you could see the killers loadout after death and at some point the devs obscured that info during a running trial because of the reasoning i gave you.

And I don't know why the devs don't distinct between solo and swf and I also don't really care.

What difference does it make to see the killers perks after the trial? Your dead and if you didn't catch the hints during the trial then knowing afterwards isn't going to help anyway.

It does correlate, because this didn't happen this much before gen times were increased. Survivors feel hopeless if there's only two of them left.

It doesn't 'punish the killer for killing', because killing a survivor is still in the killers favour. This is no worse than killing a survivor weakens Thanatophobia. Yes it technically does, one survivor dead is one less survivor injured, but you've eliminated a survivor, so it's a net win.

plus if we can provide screenshots of the crash report then that should show that itโ€™s not us.

No, they turned the penalty off exactly because they normally CAN'T differentiate in most cases and just had unusually many crashes..

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3248556#Comment_3248556

I wish server issues didn't apply the penalty either, but the devs have said it cannot distinguish between those connection problems or the player closing the game/pulling the plug/whatever.

That's what I mean when i said "when the game itself detects it" aka gives a server crash notification specifying it not being a problem with just the connection or a clientside problem.

WHEN the system detects it. I know that simple connection loses, short blackouts, pulling the plug, shutting down the wifi/router and so on are all indistinguishable from each other and have to be penalized.

  • Well when the program recognizes it as a server/system sided crash it shouldn't give a penalty.

But anything else is just indistinguishable from each other and can't be made an exception.

For the record I personally never used this but I think that if you have a legit angle it shouldnโ€™t matter whether they were pulled out of a locker or were picked up. Now itโ€™s just the reserve and survivors have guaranteed immunity. So weird how they come up with these design choices.

Wouldn't they then not also have to do something about dredge, when they remove double lockers?

They increased the number to tune down their power and give survivor double the counter against the teleport, iirc by always forcing dredge into the locked locker so survivor can save resources by lockinf on of the double at a time.
