Just happened again, was having a great match against an Oni, 1 gen left 3 alive. Struggle ended after about 4 seconds. I used my finger to spam it and made no difference :/

So survivor mode is broken then?

It's been an issue for awhile for ps4/Xbox one/switch. In this post from the summer (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187573/console-optimization/p1) players listed triggers for both sides that would cause fps drops on console and what would happen to impact the game from the drops, including struggle deaths. Apparently if you upgrade your console to ps5/Xbox series x they power through performance issues.

  • If on ps4 there are triggers in the game that will cause FPS drops. If you're in middle of struggle during these it can kill you. Gens finishing, doctor shock/blast or survivor scream when at full madness, another survivor being hooked/sacrificed, someone getting hit with sloppy nearby - these are just some of the triggers for survivor fps drops that will cause you to die during struggle.

  • I think it'd be interesting if they adjusted speeds of interactions based on direction you were facing. So if you're not looking at what you're doing it would take longer and your skill checks would be more difficult than when you're looking at what you're doing. Also if they had it be more team oriented - instead of speed increase working on gen together you get it by having a teammate hold flashlight on the gen. If teammate uses flashlight to blind killer the battery dies faster than it would when helping to light gen -this way teammate choose faster gens or blinding killer.

  • Catch survivor in trap you need to grab them out of the trap, won't count if they escape trap or you down them first at the trap. Doesn't matter if in chase or not. It's a poorly worded achievement because you'd think survivor stepping in trap or downing them while they're trapped would count as "catching them in trap."

  • The one I let live after I felt like I was bullying them at start of match.

  • I feel like lately there have been a ton of old/outdated posts being commented on. I've seen some ops edit their old posts that were brought back because their opinion on something from 2019 isn't the same as it is now. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Iron Will. Miss out on the satisfaction of screams when survivors step in my traps. Also survivors will use it to try to have me lose them in chase near other survivors through out the match and I hate when survivors screw over teammates.

  • I don't think there are crutch perks. I think players call perks they don't like crutch perks in hopes they'll be nerfed/removed and to shame other players that use them.

  • I love when I'm solo and some random tries very hard to screw team over but killer decides to not fall for it, then when they're hooked no one on the team even tries to save them. It's nice that without communicating everyone in the game agrees that player needs to go. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • That sucks. Hopefully fnaf stays out of DBD, don't need it to bring more toxicity into this community especially if it'd go after fanart that currently (from what I've seen) is immune to toxicity.

  • This will encourage more slug builds especially on high mobility killers. They'll down/hook everyone at once and then be rewarded with unearned extra hook points if anyone tries and fails to unhook themselves. I'd rather my teammates attempt escape as I'm running towards them or totally hook suicide than have more killers running slug builds.

  • @scenekiller said:

They need to remove the timer and have it deactivate solely based on doing any progressive interaction. It isn't "anti-tunnel" if it runs out due to slugging or being chased for longer than a minute off hook, and killers who don't tunnel wouldn't have an issue with this.

Other than that, it's a very healthy change.

Survivors would do nothing at all to prevent DS from deactivating. Good for killer, bad for rest of team.

  • Slow down Freddys/Doctors and killers that do slug build so they can slug the team until bleed out at start of match.

TO be fair, they DID listen, they are actively choosing to ignore the feedback given however.

Their reasoning is that they want console players input first....but I don't get why that means PC players, who have made it clear they dislike it, are being forced into it as well.

The new UI is actually bad enough that I may take a break from the game when it goes live- I literally was not able to play properly with it, I cannot see who is injured, who is my obsession, etc....

I'm a console player, the UI doesn't require playing to see what's wrong with it. It's not like a character or perk to see how it fits my play style. As a console player I'd much rather they adjust with the current feedback they have instead of having it forced on me.

  • That would be great. Could have it be once you reach "find help" you can speed up bleed out. Hook is 2 minutes and you can speed up the time, bleed out is twice as long at 4 minutes with no way to speed it up.

There's always the chance for it to be changed before the mid chapter patch, but it's not gonna happen, not in a week, and because they didn't mention anything about any improvements of it apart colorblind

I'm doubtful they'll make any changes after live release. The "wait and see what other platforms say" is just a way to avoid making changes. It's another "passing it on to the team" or "we're looking into it" response. Next it will be "we want to give it more time because people don't like change." ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • They should've pushed back the release of the new UI and made adjustments based on feedback. It's not something that is necessary to push out the way it is. It's not like delaying a DLC which would delay the income for that period. I'm not surprised they're forcing the new UI onto the live version, but I am disappointed.

  • I see the complaints but in most of my games the killers in red ranks seem to see how few hooks they need for a 4k, usually by staying near hook and chasing off any survivors that come near. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Load outs like that are why they need to give survivors option to speed up bleed out timer after recovering to "find help." 4 minutes of nothing is pretty ridiculous. Atleast with camping the hook time is 2 minutes max or you can speed it up to move on to next match.

What polls? The ones on reddit where 50 people voted? Give me a break... the amount of feedback offered from the PTB was minimal in comparison to the actual number of DbD players. Console users didn't even get to play with the new UI.

There are these polls in PTB feedback section of the forum with few hundred votes. There's also plenty of posts discussing the new UI, mostly negative.

Very simple and self-explanatory. Do you like it more than the current UI?

    @AChaoticKiller said:

Pretty much 90% of the community doesn't like the new UI but we do want the new hook features however i don't think the devs will simply add it to the current UI like a lot of us want. So here is a simple question, because it is unlikely that we will get the new feature without a rework of the UI do you think they should hold off on releasing it? The thing I'm worried about is that the devs will release the new UI with small changes before seeing what we think of it and I really don't want the new UI to look anything like it does now.

The main things i see wrong with the new UI and many others are these:

    • placement of everything is and looks bad.
    • survivor portraits feel out of place and look bad.
    • there are red overlays on everything even for indicating survivors are injured which looks bad and is horrible for color blind people.

  • I think it's really unfortunate they are just pushing it out given how poorly it was received from both survivors and killers, pc and console (you don't need to play it to see it's bad, watching a stream is enough) - it's one thing that both sides can actually agree on. There were also multiple posts with comments from players in ptb complaining about the new UI giving them headaches and motion sickness. There's no good reason to just push this out instead of holding off and making changes based on the feedback they've already received. Pushing it out without changes is just them hoping that it'll force players to suck it up and get used to it.

  • I think they're fair, I just would like more clarity on the "healing" bit because I could see randoms screwing players over in solo q.

  • This would be great change for BT.

  • If I'm killer the exit gates on Lery's are furthest away they could possibly be, but when I'm survivor they're always right next to eachother. A minimum distance would be amazing.

  • The healing part concerns me because of how vague it is. Sabotage goes into cool down if you accidentally tap it instead of healing someone that is near a hook, would just a tap from someone trying to heal cancel DS? I'm worried that another survivor trying to heal you after unhooking before you can run off or a survivor working with killer could ruin DS for solo survivors.

  • Agreed. I think it's better to give input in early stages, especially since by time anything hits ptb it's pushed out even if majority hates it. Hopefully they continue to share things in early stages so changes can be made before they're at point of no return.

  • I figured they were just going to push out the new UI, hoped they wouldn't but figured they would. It's unfortunate they're just pushing it out even though majority of players hate it and there were multiple posts from players saying it gave the head aches or motion sickness to point they had to stop playing. UI isn't like playing a new character or trying perks, you can see it's bad from watching streams. Pushing it out is just their way of forcing players to get used to it to avoid having to make any changes like not having it spread out all over the screen.

Region, rank and time of the day affects the quality of solo teammates.

Playing in the morning feels like playing a different game. Most of my teams know what they're doing and escaping feels fairly easy most of the time.

Playing at night however feels like most of my teams consist of sleepy people who aren't even motivated to try their best.

Not sure if that's solely my experience but I have stopped playing solo survivor at night since I noticed that crazy difference.

Solo survivor only in the morning for me from now on.

This. Morning/day or during week (not holidays) get way better teammates than nights/weekends/holidays.

  • I'm hoping they flood the survivor bloodwebs with firecrackers, have fireworks on hooks/gens, and do extra BP.

I believe it'll be released on the 11 of February although don't take my word for it.

February 11 is the right date.

The suck thing is I actually have a PC that could handle it now, but there's no cross-progression.

(That in no way legitimizes the "get a PC" argument. Hell, I'm actually pointing out it adds salt to the wound. The devs said they'd optimize for consoles, they need to optimize for consoles.)

The attitude of "buy a pc and start from scratch" instead of making the game perform well on all platforms they've pushed it out to is pretty ridiculous.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

That console basically doesn't deserve optimization and we console players should be grateful it runs at all.

This. Also that console players on ps4/Xbox one/switch should "buy a pc" or "upgrade to ps5/Xbox series x" instead of devs optimizing their game.

  • I think it was end of summer when I started spawning in killer's terror radius fairly often. I can hear their heart beat or music as the camera is spinning while loading into the match. When it happens I just hope they don't have whispers or that I'm in their LOS.

  • Destiny 2.

Edit. Skyrim and Witcher 3 close behind. Skyrim kept getting error messages and I didn't feel like dealing with it. Witcher 3 I had nothing left to do and was wicked sad it was all done.

  • Mclean is streaming DBD right now and is playing killer.

  • I was Mikey, had sacrificed 3 survivors. Last survivor finished last gen as 3rd survivor was sacrificed. I was at end of my tier 3 while chasing last survivor, when it ended they decided to teabag at me thinking they were safe but I had NOED so still insta-downed them. Had they gone for hatch instead of finishing gen or hadn't stopped to teabag they probably would've escaped. NOED is also really enjoyable with the survivors that decide to taunt in front of exit gates.

I love when I'm spectating after dying or escaping and remaining teammate that could've escaped decides to taunt the killer only to be downed and killed.

  • Thank you! I totally didn't think they'd do one this year.

    I played DBD for 1793 hours in 2020. 2019 was 885.

  • 1. Poor optimization for console. When bloodlust kicks in and causes FPS drops that make me miss hit or lose survivor. When I'm on hook struggling and one of many triggers in the game causes FPS drop and kills me mid struggle. Worst when it's from last gen completing and would've been saved/escaped. When triggers cause FPS drops during skill checks.

    2. When killers that are not distance killers are able to down me from across the map, on other side of pallets, on separate floors, etc.

    3. That every map rework limits my Trapper more and more for where he can place traps.

  • I'm on ps4 with crossplay off. For me it is way more enjoyable as killer or survivor and my waits for either side is under 5 minutes. Only a few matches a game session feel sweaty, rest are decent games.

Please tell me how any of these DCs were my fault, I'll wait

This video is perfect example of killer DC.

  • I play with crossplay off, as survivor my wait times are not bad because so many console killers have turned off crossplay due to poor optimization. Many console players will turn on crossplay while playing survivor but turn it off while playing killer, so there's more survivors playing with crossplay on than there are killers. Unless they're going to optimize console to remove the triggers console killers will continue playing with crossplay off until they upgrade to new system that will power through the optimization issues.

  • The multiple triggers for FPS drops for both killer and survivor. Wicked frustrating to miss a hit because bloodlust kicks in causing an FPS drop or dying in middle of struggle from something triggering FPS drop.

  • I had a red rank iri head Huntress DC before first gen was done. It was on Dead Dawg, I was in desert and cleansed her Huntress Lullaby as she was coming towards me, dodged a hatchet, looped her 3 times around pallet I dropped in desert, when she decided to break pallet I ran off and that was when she quit.

The other night I had 2 matches in a row where killers DC at start of match, both were red rank. First was a Spirit running undying and ruin. She was chasing someone nearby (I could see them) while I cleansed lit totem behind a rock. As I finished cleansing the totem the random stunned her with a pallet, Spirit then DC'd. Next match against a Hillbilly who also ran undying and ruin, again cleansing lit totem near where he was chasing a teammate. I cleansed totem, a gen finished, and Hillbilly DC.

Had another match against a pig, could see her being looped by someone as I worked on a gen. Not a single gen was completed but they decided to DC when they didn't hit survivor after half a gen worth of a chase. They had "rage quit" in their gamertag so probably DC often.

Most of my matches where the killer DCs it's because they haven't hit someone within first minute of the game and/or their hex totem was destroyed. Survivors aren't playing toxic, killer just gives up at start of the match. I could understand if survivors were being bullies but they were just avoiding getting hit in a short chase - no teabagging or flashlight blinds - or doing the second objective of cleansing totems.

It Is glorious when you and the survivor are standing over hatch together and you slam it on them. Thank God the devs let that happen.

I miss hatch grabs but closing the hatch as survivor is running to it is way better.

  • If I know the other survivor is hiding I find the hatch and make sure if killer downs me it's next to the hatch. Sometimes they close hatch and kill that survivor, sometimes they decide to give that survivor the hatch.

Sorry I wanna get my challenge done ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

    This.

Tell devs to quit putting key/hatch related challenges in tomes. Before someone says "rift is over" my brother just did key challenge last week because not everyone completes all the tome challenges before a rift ends.

  • Console optimization and bug fixes.
