Yes. Their go to response of "we're looking into it" or flat out ignoring makes players think they don't care. Instead of "we're looking into it" they should have said "we are working on colorblind options, we don't have any eta as it is taking time to make sure we get it right but it is an accessibility option we are currently working on." If they gave informative responses it is less likely angry people will spam devs streams and putting the dev in an awkward situations. Letting the players know what they are working on to improve the game would improve morale so much among players but instead they are left in the dark to assume the worst.
Their PR team should spend less time announcing cosmetics and instead focus on communicating with players about the actual game like what they're working on to improve game health, what bugs they're aware of, etc. Things that the players are consistently complaining about because no one at DBD will address the concerns until either the patch is released or they need to do damage control.

Nope, it's not that I personally don't like it, it's the fact that the majority of combinations created like this are objectively "broken" or glitched.
As I said in another comment, I'm all for unlocking certain pieces like survivor heads and killer weapons from sets, because yeah, if they work with the other cosmetics why not.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5EYZX8E31202/screenshot-20210121-143021.jpg
But allowing stuff like this (and this is not even the worst thing you can find out there) to stay in game would make DBD look even buggier than it is (a lot of users from the vocal part of the community love to blame the devs of being lazy for stuff like this) and create confusion among newer players who would genuinely think this a bug (rightfully so), and probably even open tickets to BHVR regarding the issue, making them consume time and resources to deal with those.
And I want to specify that it's not like I'm supporting the idea of having all set cosmetics, because I don't like the idea of some cosmetics being sets either (like, the sets of jane, the twins, PH and some cheryl sets could easily be mixed and matched iirc) but when you start having model issues you need to fix them, otherwise the game looks like half-baked #########.
That Legion is amazing, it makes me think of the shrunken head dude in Beetlejuice 😍
-
This would be great. Also something to acknowledge bugs. I see more bugs acknowledged on McLean streams than they share on dev updates.
-
Trapper - he's the face of DBD, he should be stronger. Map reworks have hurt him a ton limiting where he can place traps.
1. Base kit changes - Allow him to carry more traps and darken his traps. Currently they stick out like a sore thumb on new maps and indoor maps.
2. Move trap spawn points closer to middle of the map. Spawning in corners by dead zones wastes so much time.
3. Have more random debris/grass on maps. He is limited to where he can set his handful of traps because there's barely anything to hide them in random places to catch survivors by surprise.
-
The problem with totems is that they only have so many places on a map to spawn. If survivors play enough, and actually pay attention, it doesn't take long to find and cleanse all 5. Add in more hiding spots on a map you are giving survivors more places to hide and more obstacles for killers. Don't allow the totems to spawn near gens/out in open and you actually limit the spawn points making them easier to find. Perk to basically corrupt intervention totems at start of match could help to atleast keep hex totems in the game longer.

This is still a work in progress, we're showing what is currently being worked on...it will be available when it's ready, no set date as of yet.
I think showing it's atleast being worked on helps a ton with player morale. While I know showing WIPs can bring out the "where is it" questions I think showing stuff like this is being worked on does way more than just saying "we are looking into it" which starts to feel like a brush off answer after awhile.
-
I think, if they haven't already, they should get a colorblind focus group together. If they want to do it right that'd be great way, especially for someone like you that'd need to choose between two different types.
-
Almo is unfortunately pretty bad with communication which can be seen in this clip and in some of his answers. He's also one of 2 devs that communicates with the community outside of Q&As - this leads to harassment of bugging him for things unrelated to his department and for things he says extremely poorly. If DBD was more transparent and gave answers outside of Q&As or when the players are pissed (see Halloween event statement and now this) there'd be less going to Almo's stream and spamming it until he gets frustrated and says something dumb that's clipped. Their Twitter they ignore the people that have issues like colorblind while only responding to those that praise them so what happens? Those frustrated people head to Almo's stream where they can bug the guy until he answers. DBD PR team needs to do better so people quit spamming the devs.

I think the problem that arise here is the definition of tunneling. My change seems to deal with pure tunneling, which is tunneling the survivors that just got off the hook without chasing and downing another survivor. I'm not sure if what your describing is pure tunneling.
In my scenario the survivor is immediately chased and downed after being unhooked. Whether another survivor took too long to unhook doesn't matter, the killer is still going straight after the survivor that was just unhooked. If you make DS deactivate in this scenario you will get many more hook suicides when survivors see another get downed while they're on a hook.
Instead of killer hooks another survivor it should be the unhooked survivor does something like totem, gen, get healed, search chest, etc. If they're able to stop and do something then they're not being tunneled and DS should deactivate then.
-
I don't understand how they can so blatantly ignore such a vocal community by adjusting something on the HUD they could use to one that is now useless. If it's built from scratch like they claim it would've made sense to have it accommodate colorblind community now so they would not need to spend time later adjusting it.

That should be it. The fact that the killer hooked another survivors means they did not tunnel. And The fact that the survivors did not unhook there teammate in time, is on the team not on the killer.
It means killer didn't camp, it doesn't mean the killer isn't tunneling.
-
I'm on ps4, I turned off randoms being able to message me before I started playing DBD because of sore losers in Destiny 2 Crucible - players get really mad when you kill them several times in a row in a match because they keep making bad decisions. When I turned it off I never had to deal with sore losers messages until I started playing DBD. DBD is the ONLY game where players would use the loophole of sending a friend request so they could attach a message complaining and cussing. After a bit of both survivors and killers whining I also turned off randoms being able to friend request, they can go complain somewhere else about how unfair the game was instead of using my inbox.

No of course not. That's why DS should be changed to deactivate when another survivor is hooked.
The situation that I am describing and what OP seem to be describing is pure tunneling. Its not different then downing the recently unhooked survivors and picking them up.
In solo lobbies most times a survivor will be unhooked as a killer is carrying/hooking another survivor, killer then heads straight back to down the recently unhooked survivor. If that survivor is running DS it immediately would deactivate due to timing.
-
I've been getting mostly Coldwind as survivor, which is wicked annoying with the totem bug.
As killer I was getting more variety.

@bm33 Does it still happens about 2-3 times a month and does it start occurring under conditions similar to Zariva's?
Yes, it also was happening before May - May was just when I first made a bug report here. I have had the issue since 2019. It has happened as early as my 3rd game in a game session or as late as my 10th. It happens anytime during the day - I have had it happen in the morning, afternoon, and night. There have been no issues in the games before or after I have no HUD.
I have a strong internet connection and am plugged in. Times when I have played swf and I am missing the HUD my teammate would have a HUD and was in same household using same internet - they were using wifi while I was plugged in.
Since May I moved to different state, internet provider is the same so still strong yet no HUD still happens. The screen shots I had posted on my original post from two different matches in December were from different location than my screenshots from May.

If someone does it once every 30 games, it's probably an accident. If it happens every 3 games then it's a bit more obvious.
FPS drops from triggers in the game kill me frequently. Console and low end pc players would no longer be able to play because the devs won't optimize the game.

Might be a reason. I have never seen anything about the Glitch with the Nea Head-Cosmetic from the Set.
Could be entirely possible that BHVR will get legal issues with Konami, they will not like to see Screenshots of their cosmetics going around when looking like that.
Someone posted earlier that Nea head glitch was bannable. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1883223

I reported two times the same guy who spammed calling me (homophobe word) in the game chat. It was just a week after I first reported him when I found him again in a lobby and did the same stuff, support answered already that they might do action about it. I've just checked his profile again. No bans in record.
This was almost a year ago now.
Very cool to block people on twitter during June bhvr, what about you actual game?
This is why I'm happy console doesn't have in game chat. I have my profile set so they can't message me, it's nice knowing they can't send whatever unnecessary hate my way.

Literally yesterday i had cleansed a huntress lullaby after my teamate called it out. Nerf undying btw. Could behavior at least slightly consider slight exclusive swf nerfs. Its absurd how both solo and swf is balanced under the same rules. Start with minor healing, cleansing, gen progression changes to compensate for the efficiency swf brings.
I didn't say swf don't call out hex totems to eachother. I just pointed out as a solo player I've cleansed hex totems my random teammates have been run off of or have run by during a chase.
Nerfing swf will hurt the solos that get paired with them. Instead buff solo and killer.
-
I've had this same issue for months, first reported it back in May and updated in December because still happening.

Does it need full video proof as the game finally ended after 30+ minutes?
Send what you have, hopefully will be enough.
-
I've cleansed hidden totems shortly after a Teammate runs by while being chased when I'm playing solo. It's usually just luck I was nearby and heard the crackling of the fire.
-
Record, report them at end game screen, send supplemental player report with video proof: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
-
It's a bug from last patch. I had 2 in one match: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/215773/ps4-2-uncleansable-totems-in-same-match#latest
-
Love that people complain about players not getting banned after they say racist/homophobic things or tell them to die in the in game chat. Or hackers, cheaters, survivors working with killer for match, body blocked in corner for match, etc. won't get banned unless you remember to record/save video - even then it's still iffy. BUT if you spend money on overpriced linked cosmetic you'll get banned for using the glitch that let's you mix/match. Nice priorities.
-
I'm not happy where the game is currently. They seem to not care about the player experience or game health. They release bug ridden chapters and will allow game breaking bugs like uncleansable totems stay in the game for months. Console and low end PCs have triggers that cause FPS drops that can ruin games and instead of optimization like they promised years ago they expect players to instead spend money upgrading to new systems to play a 4 year old game. They not only will not add colorblind accessibility but they are changing current features without even taking that vocal community into consideration. Bloodwebs and rift are both very grindy and cause burnout. Players complain about the grind but nothing is done to ease it, instead they add additional useless items to bloodweb and lessen rift fragments earned from challenges.
The state of the game makes me wish there was another successful game that could give them real competition. Not only would actual competition push them to be better but it would give players another game to turn to. I stay playing this game only because it is the only one of it's kind. I went from playing daily to only couple times a week if at all because bugs, lack of optimization, and grind just make it OK in small doses. I don't know how many hours I've put in but it's enough to be devotion 10.
-
Yes, would improve the reporting feature they currently have.
-
Wait, they're banning people that use a glitch to wear a cosmetic they bought? That's a great reason to not buy linked cosmetics, risk of being banned if it glitches.
-
I've given killers sacrifice more than I've been given the hatch. I'll give killers sacrifice that are nice or ones that focus on removing someone that had been screwing over the team. I'd say probably every game session I give atleast one kill to a killer.
The other day I had two Claudettes that were swf and kept trying to get the killer to go after me and my teammate - one brought a map so guessing was trying for the hatch and figured quickest way was to kill the teammates. I think killer realized that they were more focused on screwing over the team than working on escape. After my teammate had died and I was on death hook he left me alone and focused on them. He let me do gens and was going to let me go but I had entity take me instead since he wouldn't hook me, he deserved 4k.
During the 4 year anniversary once I had all my survivor crowns I was either having killers hook me for sacrifice or having entity kill me during EGC.
Most farming killers I give myself up for sacrifice/entity if I don't have a challenge going where I need to escape.
I have had farming killers that if I try to give them the kill they will bring me to exit and drop me so I'm forced out. I think those are the ones that will also give last survivor hatch.

When I started playing I thought Spirit was impossible to beat, I hated going against her. Now that I've played more I don't find her bad to go against. I'd rather a tough Spirit than a Freddy/Doctor that makes the game go on way too long without any progress being made.

This is correct.
Our team goes through the bug reports section frequently, and if we see a duplicate bug report, we'll mark it as a duplicate. Whenever you can, please search for the issue first and upvote an existing report. The upvotes give us a better idea of how many people that issue is affecting, and it also lets us gather more information (if needed) more easily compared to having several different threads to comment on.
Maybe when closing duplicate why not link to the report you wish them to go to. That way they are able to find the correct report to up vote.
-
I feel like they ask broad questions since most will give neutral/positive response because it'll be specific things that upset them so less likely to go negative. It's like their stats for OoO - says nothing wrong with perk but players will give specifics on what is wrong with it.
Asking on survivor side if new perks were useful but on killer side ask if they're fun. Why not ask useful/fun for both?
I do think asking more about Twitter, newsletters, store over actual game is not good.
-
I was negative on last couple. The focus on Twitter, email newsletter, and their store instead of the actual game was disappointing. For survivor asking if new perks were useful but for killer asks if they are fun - seems odd to not ask if both sides are useful and fun.
-
I hope they don't just push out the new UI and instead make adjustments based on the feedback. However, based on their track record they tend to be the "suck it up or go play something else" because they know there isn't another horror game like this players will turn to. It's situations like this I wish the had real competition because being the only successful horror game of its kind out right now gives them the ability to push out things even if players are against it.
-
When I first started playing I thought in the DS description where it says "Using whatever is at hand, you stab at your aggressor in an ultimate attempt to escape." it meant you had to have an item in your hand to use it. - so no item no DS. If they made that a requirement it'd make Franklin's way more popular and probably kill DS. 😂
-
Matchmaking is normal for me. Only issue I've had was while playing killer every other match if I hit/downed someone it'd do this weird stutter. I'm on ps4 so used to game having fps drops but this felt different. Feels like event glitched the hit validation causing the stutters.
-

I've been getting the opposite, my matches have been a sweat fest ever since the event started.
Not sure why but rank reset decided to kick in just now, despite the thirteenth being two days ago.

For console there are triggers in the game that cause fps drops that can cause survivors to die while struggling. This post players have listed triggers: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187573/console-optimization/p1. It's due to the game being poorly optimized for those systems. I've heard players with low end PCs have also experienced fps drops from triggers.
-
Same thing I do when playing as killer - I hit ready and then hop on my phone until I hear the match has loaded into the map. Sometimes I switch it up by going to the bathroom, taking my dog outside to go to the bathroom, or grab myself a drink/snack.
-
@Mandy said:
I have absolutely no problems with queue times. My survivor ones are pretty much instant and my killer ones are currently taking a minute or two.
Queue times seem to be very dependent on your rank/location/time of day so the majority of people are not having an issue with their queues.
Time of day is definitely a factor and has been since before crossplay. I've always had fast survivor and slow killer during morning/day. Night once people are home from work/eaten dinner it slows down for survivor and speeds up for killer.
-
I just said this on another post - last night when I was playing with my brother we were getting pretty much instant lobbies for most of our session. Only last few matches the wait was at most 2 minutes. We have crossplay off on ps4 and played from 5pm EST - 9pm EST. Helps that so many console killers turn off crossplay due to poor optimization.
-
When I was playing last night with my brother (from 5pm EST - 9PM EST, ps4 crossplay off) we were getting lobbies pretty much instantly for most of the time. Few matches before we stopped was when matchmaking started to slow down to about a 2 minute wait at most.

I got lucky with 2 trucks on a Coldwind map and each one had a bugged totem, one dull and the other a Devour Hope. I made a bug report when it happened (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/215773/ps4-2-uncleansable-totems-in-same-match#latest) and know there's been others who have reported when it happened to them. That same thing has happened to me and one of the reasons why I posted this thread. A person pestered me for like an entire minute and kept trying to heal me while I was running resilience and wouldn’t take the hint even though I kept breaking away from her heal and literally pointing to tell her to go away. Stupid people!!
I hate when I'm running Resilience and other players keep trying to heal me. Have also had players try to heal me when someone is on struggle on other side of map. I'll keep breaking away and pointing at hook until finally I just start running to the hook injured to save the person myself.
-
Don't nonstop teabag/flashlight click while someone is cleansing a totem, just wait the few seconds and they'll heal you when they're done. Don't block survivors in corners that were finishing up cleansing a totem because you couldn't wait 10 seconds for them to heal you.

Yeah this has been a thing for a while so this thread shocked me. Can't believe its still in.
When Lery's was reworked during a mid-chapter patch it had a bugged totem that wasn't fixed until either the next chapter patch or mid-chapter patch. It was bugged for pretty long time. I'm hoping they fix the Coldwind totem bug this patch but I wouldn't be surprised if Coldwind rework is next chapter patch and it stays bugged until then.

I was lucky that the killer we got ended up being nice farming killer when he saw we couldn't cleanse totems by the wheels. He could've destroyed us with the uncleansable Devour Hope.

I just hope they do 1.5x BP more often and not be like the last time and have no extra BP events for rest of year.
