Laurie Strode.
Even though the Dev's fixed the volume of the screaming, I still tense up and try to block it out as a reflex. XD
-
Imagine how many people would dc against The Alien.
Cool concept though. I'm up for an alien chapter.
-
I think we did a pretty good job so far.
-
I think when you interact with a red glyph you get some BP for a 'portal closed' action?
Correct me if I've got it wrong though.
-
That is really weird. It does look like really bad internet problems, but usually the game crashes with an error message when it gets that bad.
I don't know.
-
Hmm, I don't do dating.
Simple friendships are far more cherished in my memories than a blatant love story.
Besides, I don't really do physical contact or hook ups, dates etc... It just leaves me feeling sick when I look back at it. I'm probably Asexual, to be honest.
With that out of the way (and purely on terms of Friendship) I'd probably get along with Jake, Claudette, Jeff or Dwight the best.
Due to her more outgoing personality, I don't think I would get along well with Meg, unfortunately.
As for killers, I'd think I would get along with Wraith the best.
As for the others, I'm not sure. Most of thier ideals and ways of thinking were a bit twisted even before the Entity took them. At least we know that Phillip's was in the right place.
I might be able to get along ok with Evan though, he was just overprotective of his Father and his money. It was clear from the damage done to him (presumably from the Entity), that he didn't want to leave him behind.
As for Max, I'd like to be able to show him the world and how much more nice and accepting some people can be nowadays. I'm not even sure if he's aware of what the Entity's gotten him into and how much it seems to have taken advantage of him.
So yeah, I like friendships more :)

Some of them absolutely hate the Entity. And they weren't all murderers before being found. I'll give a brief rundown of them.
Evan MacMillan/Trapper was heavily tortured into doing the Entity's bidding. Heavy dislike.
Philip Ojomo/Wraith has weird glowing eyes. The current theory is that he doesn't see the Survivors, but rather his old boss, Azarov, who used him to make people "disappear." Probably been tortured a bit too.
Max Thompson Jr./Hillbilly also has glowing eyes and likely sees his abusive parents. He's also just straight up feral and likely enjoys killing.
Sally Smithson/Nurse is implied to have been suffocated by that pillowcase. Her power also puts her through immense pain. Most likely hates the Entity.
Michael Myers/Shape is the literal embodiment of evil. He enjoys what he does, which is clear through his plain appearance.
Lisa Sherwood/Hag was probably tortured very heavily. Even Benedict Baker says this "Her very presence speaks of endless torture similar to mine. I wonder - did she refuse the entity's calling until broken or did she wish for this?"
Herman Carter/Doctor is an insane psychopath. Any chance he can get to show his superiority is one he will take. At the same time, he was tortured by that headgear.
Anna/Huntress kills for survival and has the mind of a child. She probably doesn't even realize she's being used.
Leatherface/Cannibal kills because he was forced to. He's afraid of the Entity like he was his family.
Freddy Krueger/Nightmare was a monster even before turning into the dream demon he is (our version is the 2010 version, where he was a pedophile). Believe me, he enjoys this.
Amanda Young/Pig sees this as John Kramer passing her off to a stronger master. She might not have enjoyed it initially, but this is all a game to her. The Survivors don't deserve to live.
Kenneth Chase/Clown is another psychopath who enjoys what he does.
Rin Yamaoka/Spirit never actually killed anyone. She also has those glowy eyes, and she likely sees the Survivors as her father. You know, the man who chopped her into pieces. She is an onryō, sustained only on her rage. She hates everything, and even the Entity has a hard time controlling her.
The Legion is a difficult one. All four are messed up in the head a little, but they only killed the janitor in self-defense (technically). Yet, they don't have any horrible defects like Evan's hooks or Lisa's... everything. This implies that they enjoy killing.
Adiris/Plague is the most innocent of the Killers. She even cut off pieces of her body to save a dying woman. To her, the Entity is a god. She was dying, and it found her. She would literally do ANYTHING to appease her gods, even kill.
Danny Johnson/Ghost Face is another complete psychopath, and the devs themselves have said that he has an incredible connection to the Entity, shown by his floating cloth.
The Demogorgon is just hungry.
Kazan Yamaoka/Oni is another bloodthirsty psychopath with a messed up sense of honor. The Entity saved him from death, and his honor would keep him in check.
Caleb Quinn/Deathslinger has those glowy eyes, and is the one that started the glowy eye theory. We have definitive proof, in his backstory, that he sees the people who wronged him because he was Irish instead of the Survivors. I don't know about you, but I would enjoy putting those people through endless torment.
Hope this explains their feelings.
As for if they disobey the Entity... We call that being turned into an empty husk and thrown into the Void for eternity.
Yeah, I agree with this. Generally, the more messed up the killer looks, the more the Entity had to 'convince them' to come into its realm and do the killings for it.

And we have The Clown already, who can wear an elephant suit.
The Legion, who has four variations of a fluffy bunny rabbit suit...

This is my comment I made in another topic revolving around the same subject. This is what I wrote, word for word.
"FNAF isn't really meant for kids, they just play it anyway. Same with COD or GTA, it isn't meant for them...but there they are. FNAF is a game about possessed animatronics with the corpses of dead kids in them. Pretty sure a game about a serial killer that kills kids is NOT meant to be played by kids. Still....some of these kids who do play it ARE obnoxious and do harass others. The more mature fans (mostly) do not. I can see why people would not want FNAF in DBD as those specific toxic fans do not deserve it. But what about those that are not toxic? Should they be punished for the actions of a few? IMO, whether you are for or against FNAF being in DBD should not be decided on the hate for certain types of fans. Rather, it should be decided on the story, lore, and gameplay (how it would play in DBD, not the FNAF games gameplay.)
For the story and lore, the animatronics are possessed by vengeful spirits out to get revenge on the one who killed them. Whether or not this type of killer, in story, would work doesn't matter. The vengeful spirits are kids. The devs made it clear no kid characters would ever be in DBD, period. So that eliminates 98% of the possible choices for a killer. The only killer from the franchise that can actually work and would be acceptable, (isn't a kid, kid ghost, or otherwise) is Springtrap. Springtap...is NOT an animatronic. It is a person inside of spring lock suit, specifically...a serial killer. IMO, FNAF, specifically Springtap, Can fit story wise. The gameplay.....I don't see it. I cannot think of a power that would work for a FNAF killer AND make sense to both games. This is where it falls off for me. The story and lore fitting each other is fine...but what matters most is the gameplay. I just can't think of something that works for both sides. (Maybe something that uses the Madness status effect to induce the phantom jump scares from the 3rd game? Maybe not.) Perhaps the devs could come up with something that does...but until it is ever mentioned...gameplay wise...it is a no from me. Though, I am open to being proven wrong on any and all accounts. Regardless...I too think it would be best to wait quite some time before ever adding it to DBD assuming it ever would be. At minimum a year from now. Possibly 2 and it would be acceptable. All the toxic FNAF fans should have left by then...I think....maybe....
Again, I'd say no just cause I can't see how it works specifically in terms of gameplay.
Just my opinion that I put about a minute's worth of time into, lol."
That was my opinion back in November. Now....I still think the same way...except I am now for a FNAF chapter. One reason, It would bring in more people playing the killer role. Which, I am sorry to say...this game desperately needs. The wait times for survivor are long and it is not because of a problem with matchmaking. Not many want to play killer because it isn't fun, not balanced, too stressful...or whatever reason they might have. Simply not enough people are playing that role. A FNAF killer, Springtrap, would help this as FNAF fans tend to stick to wherever FNAF goes. Meaning, We will have a good portion of those fans playing the killer role consistently.
I realize there are quite a few who would be against FNAF fans sticking around...cause they are toxic or whatever reason...but I argue that the DBD community is far more toxic and obnoxious than the FNAF community. Take a look at the devs doing ANYTHING. DBD fans will cry about it, endlessly...even after it is fixed/changed. The DBD community is no better...if not worse in some ways. So that particular argument about the community being bad is just a dumb and pointless one, imo.
Another reason I am for a FNAF chapter, is the lore. I HATE the gameplay of FNAF...but I love the lore. Especially MatPat's Game Theory episodes when he does them. I think the lore fits in with DBD's quite well and would be interested in seeing where the devs would take it. Plus....I'd love to see MatPat try and fit DBD into one of his theories. That'd be entertaining (for me.)
But...I still have yet to see how a FNAF killer would work in terms of gameplay. I have seen many videos on people suggesting this very thing...but I do not agree with them. some don't make sense for either FNAF, DBD or both. While others just don't look fun to play as or against. So far I still think using the Madness affliction is still the way to go...but I am still not convinced it will work gameplay wise. I am still willing to be proven wrong on any and all accounts, but these are just some of my opinions I didn't put too much thought into.
In short, I don't care one way or another. I play all killers and survivors. I don't main anyone and jump around from character to character. Including the ones I hate (Blight, Twins, etc.) If a FNAF killer & Survivor is added, good or bad, I will play them too.
Yeah, still waiting on MatPat to do a Game Theory Episode on Dead by Daylight... It's going to be so cool when he gets around to putting everything together, from the lost tapes to Vigo, Benedict and The Entity, there's so much to dive into :)

Sounds amazing. I'd love for this to be in the game! BHVR could maybe reuse some of the models that they did for Demogorgon.

Holy crap, thank you for this.
It's like people forget that BHVR would need to create a new model and assume they'd use the dated differently stylised fnaf3 model.
Yeah, they had to do a whole new model for Demogorgon as well... It turned out well, but it must have taken a lot of extra work to get to the end result.

i don't even understand the argument that fnaf isn't scary. dbd isn't scary in the slightest. i'm sorry, am i supposed to believe that dbd's "a bloodsplatter on the screen" and "somebody screaming" is genre defining horror standing head and shoulders above fnaf's "a loud noise" and "a character lunging at the screen"?
if you genuinely try to tell me dbd is a scary game i will actually laugh in your face. especially the guy that's going around calling everyone stupid kids and acting all pretentious because of how scary fnaf isn't, somehow completely missing the concept that dbd isn't scary either despite literally being hide and seek in the dark. like, please. if you can't get your own grip, store bought is fine.
Dead by Daylight really isn't scary at all... But the ESRB ratings unlikely won't be changed, same for FNAF (regardless of whether the jumpscares actually work on you or not.)
Personally, I think DbD should at least be lowered to 16+ but that's a whole different topic.
I'm still waiting for a decent argument as to why FNAF shouldn't be in DbD, rather than people screaming it's a kids game. When the ESRB ratings clearly state otherwise.
Horror is subjective in its nature, we all know that. What scares one person doesn't automatically scare everyone.
What seems like an over the top horror cliche for one may be really atmospheric and entertaining for others.
Anyway, point in hand; ESRB ratings don't change easily. What one person deems suitable for children another doesn't.
I'd happily let my kids play FNAF and Dead by Daylight (with chat features disabled, we know how salty this community gets.)
But in order to keep things real here, I'm sticking to official age ratings.
They're welcome to make thier own decisions as to whether they would be letting thier kids into the game... That's thier choice by all means. I'm not advocating for that right to be taken away.
But if someone complains that it's a kids game and that solely for that reason alone shouldn't be allowed into Dead by Daylight and they're trying to project that BS onto me, then they can go away.

Except for when it's obvious. If people can't see obvious things then
1: they can't be taken seriously in this world. (Like you so parent like attempted to tell me)
2:shouldn't be given any reason as it's silly that they can't see obvious things.
Do I need to provide proof and a debate as to the grass being green? Or the sky being blue? Should I explain those things to you as well?
Yeah, it's real obvious that FNAF is for little school kids isn't it?
I mean, look at the 7+ Age Ratings. It's obvious! How could we have been fooled?
Nice try, kid.
-
Give me an original and well versed argument against a FNAF chapter and then I'll lend you an ear to listen to your opinion.
I don't want to hear "but it's a kid's game" without you giving a decent explanation as to why you think that way.
It's ok to share your opinion (that's what the forums are for) but without giving any information as to your reasoning; you cannot expect anyone to take you seriously in this world...
-
I don't think it could have been a bug...

It would be nice, I just wanted to make two things fairly clear. One that the information really is not of any consequence to us, and two, that they likely didn't actually violate any laws, regulations or anything of that sort.
That is usually just where these kind of topics derail to so I had to get that out of the way first; with that being said yes knowing more would be nice; but they can also only tell us so much. I mean the more they tell us about how they are solving the problem, the more the people who hacked them in the first place can see what they are doing and start planning a new avenue of attack.
I imagine if people make enough noise, as I am sure they will, BHVR will make a larger statement in the near future though.
Thanks dude. Yep, topics like this can derail so fast that there's not even enough time for it to be like watching a train wreck :)
True that actually, I didn't think of that in that way. But I wouldn't want them to go too into depth about what happened, the technological side of things would just confuse me even more to be honest.
Yeah, it's starting to become pretty clear that they'll have to release a statement sooner or later...
Thanks again for the info and quick response.
-
Ah, I remember Family Fortunes... :D
-
Thanks for everyone's replies on this. So your player ID is basically just your username?
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I think they meant as in you as a person.
Your player ID is that string of characters in settings menu, that's unique to DBD. So all it does is identify the account itself. So nothing about even your steam account would be gleamed from that just that this particular DBD account exists.
However yes, General Data Protection Laws require you to be notified without delay; however if they can prove that delay was necessary or unavoidable, it would be permitted. They only have to notify proper authorities within 72 hours; the general public must be notified as soon as possible; this also only applies when the information could risk your "Rights or freedoms" so only serious information is governed as such.
Edit: To those who are curious and would like to know more, I will leave a link of a summary here.
Thing is, I would have expected an Official Statement on what occurred, exactly what data was taken and what measures they are planning on putting in place to prevent it from happening again, from BHVR.
We've had radio silence on this up until now as far as I'm aware of; surely the most plausible thing to do would have been to write a quick overview of things so that people don't start blowing things out of proportion?
Also a big thanks for sharing the link :)

Yea well aesthetically it looks like a kids game. Can't help you if you're scared if that silliness
Can't help it if you have to refer to a game where the overarching storyline is about a serial killer who stuffs corpses into animatronics, as a simpleton child's game.
On the other hand I'm not the ERSB, so I'm not the one who gives out age ratings for games here.
Sure, it's got simple gameplay mechanics, but that doesn't automatically make it for kids.
-
@Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2033072#Comment_2033072
It isn't. It, quite genuinely, is not. It's a horror game about fending off animatronics haunted by the souls of either children or an actual #########' serial killer before they murder you by stuffing you into an effective pressurized iron maiden.
It being popular with children is doubly an effect of it being simple and easy to get into and it being popularized by youtubers with a predominantly young fanbase-- IE, purely a matter of circumstance. The animatronics were made with uncanny valley in mind-- but put out of the context of the game, they're pretty dopey-looking because Chuck-e-Cheese-like animatronics are literally meant for kid appeal.
Ratings mean nothing, kids can get into anything. I was playing World at War back in 4th grade and happily blowing the limbs off enemy soldiers without a care in the world, is a WW2 game for kids?
Look, you can find any number of better reasons to not like FNAF. I'll understand. But if you wanna take the wine-tasting critic route of "oh, it's not a horror game, it's for little babies", I invite you to take a trip outside your own ass for a minute and give me the exact pound-for-pound parameters of what you need before you're allowed to be a real horror game.
Couldn't have said it better. Looks like my more storytelling approach as a quick overview of the lore wasn't getting through to them. Lol. Thanks dude.

No dude I mean child content. Killers for kids. Spring trap is for kids. This is an adult game.
Dude, I'm over 18 and still can't play FNAF because of the goddamn jumpscares getting me every time. Does that make a child?
Or am I just the sprit of a dead child or adult maybe; encased within a horrifically life-like Animatronic human body?
Are we all just rotting dead flesh on the inside and simply inhabiting a rusted metallic shell, made under the pretence to inspire entertainment? Or were we a part of something much sinister?
One man's twisted desire to kill spreads out to all of us like a disease. We're screaming to be released in rage and fear, but all you see is a dead machine. Void of life and crippled beyond repair.
Lights flicker, broken limbs twitch; the machine awakens and the screams start anew...
*Ahem* Well, we went a bit off track there folks. Sorry about that. As said in the job description you'll be staying here for the night...
In short, if you look deeper into the lore of FNAF you'll quickly realise that it isn't for kids.
-
I'd say stepping into a hag trap that I didn't realize was there.

Nice bait. This is a bait, right? XD

I'm guilty of running Prove Thyself in my matches too. You get extra BP and bonus gen progression speed.
Overall, it's a pretty strong perk.

Yeah, I remember coming to this tome five minutes early waiting for the new level to unlock.
Boy... That wait felt longer than five minutes.

Interesting stats, thank you! Good job of collecting and recording the information. :)

I'd love to see Dead by Daylight really push for getting new merch out, there's so many unexplored opportunities in the games graphic design.

They get BP anyway.
If the Killer DC's everyone gets an automatic escape, which is a pretty nice bonus for a short round as a survivor.
If a survivor DC's the killer gets a quitters bonus and a much easier game.
Was the quitters bonus 600 BP or more, I can't really remember..?
If there are hacks in play, then I'm near certain that they'd be getting way more than 600 BP out of me if I'd stayed.
I'm talking about the mega obvious kind of hacks, like the ones where the killer teleports to you and insta downs you, your teammates insta heal, speed across the map, get gens done at the speed of light, unbreakable never runs out kind of thing...
Like if it's just a leave no trails, speed boost kind of thing where it's still obvious that they are a hacker, then I'd hang around and get my evidence. But you can bet I'll still be reporting them, hacking just ruins the game for everyone.
-
Can't deal with getting outplayed I guess, so they'd rather have a 5 minute ban, lose thier items, offerings and add-ons, de-pip and not get any bloodpoints for that round.
Having said that, I would more than likely DC if I had gathered proof and evidence of hacking from either teammates or the killer. No point in giving hackers extra BP.
I'd rather eat the negatives than have a hacker running loose in my game.
-
Nope, I don't think it does. Feels like four seconds, but I've never bothered to really count.

Lemon??? I haven't heard that term in so long!! I'd say this is leading up to more of a lime fanfic tho lol :)!
True that, lol. XD
-
This one happened yesterday, I think.
The light was shining quite a bit on my screen and I mistook a locker for a window mid chase (I just saw the space button come up and clicked).
Realised my mistake quickly and jumped out. The killer was Legion and he was running Iron Maiden.
Felt pretty dumb... This was the AutoHeaven Wreckers map. Lol
-
Gear Head seems like a waste of a perk slot to me...
Wish it would be given a buff.
-
Good idea, but the Devs probably wouldn't do it, as they'd have to do more re-coloured charms.
I do wish we'd get something cool for completing levels and achievements though...
-
Who else read the first two lines and thought this was going to be a lemon Fanfic?
Ok, just me then... Thanks for the wholesome content, by the way. :)
-
If it could stack, imagine 2-4 SWF's all working on the same gen.
All using Prove Thyself...
That's a bonus gen repair speed of a lot (I can't be bothered to do the maths here.)
-
I think it's DS, wiggling out of thier grasp, pallet and flashlight saves. Also the killer just deciding to drop you; that all counts towards this challenge.
At least I think it does, as always correct me if I'm wrong here. :)
-
Yeah, I had a weird Kate in my Trapper game who just disappeared when i downed her. She spawned again a few feet away from me (still downed luckily).
As soon as I hooked her, the last gen went off (I wasn't really paying much attention to the amount of gens done - so it's most likely a coincidence.)
Glad I brought NOED for that game...
Doesn't look like the kind of extremely obvious hacking, so it could have been the internet or something. I guess we'll never really know.
-
Yeah, I always use shards on non licensed characters anyways. Why spend money when you can get them for free?
-
Still the strongest anti tunnel perk in the game, but very situational still.
This is the same tier as I would have rated it before the nerf.
-
Burger King all the way. They still do that £5.99 meal box with drink, nuggets, chips and medium sized burger.
They don't advertise it no more though, but if I ask for it they usually say yes. This is in the UK by the way.
-
This is why I'd wish they'd a 'slap' gesture to the 'point' and 'come here' gestures that we already have. Lol.
-
It's not necessarily difficult, just overly grindy with little to show for the amount of time and effort you put into it.
-
Nah, I'm sticking with Nea
