@ZoneDymo do you want that to happen or why do you bring that up as first reaction to the post?
Same as what I just typed, I agree but at the same time the fact that certain killer have build in 1 shot abilities making NoeD seem silly might just be the thing that makes people assume you dont have it, which then gives you immense power in the endgame.
and I think running three perks until then, getting rewarded by survivors that assumed right this, would be a won mindgame, or not?
The idea might work, but as said, I think the speed bonus is weaker than the current perk. If you want it to be rewarding for killer play, don't make it depending on totems, because this is then punishing the killer for survivor gameplay. I would make it like 1% per hook. For the exposed thing, I think it should be more like an offset +x per totem up. Like 30 seconds +5 per totem. And before you yell: Think about what 15 seconds means to Iron Maiden (like nothing) and that it is also possible to be stalked by GF and loop him for the entire time.

I think Zone's first comment might have triggered that
It was meant as one of thos "inb4" things, hopefully making people feel silly for doing so before going for it, it did not help, people are just not self aware enough it seems.
-
wait, what is respecting a 360?
A survivor runs infront of you, then does a loop and maybe a bit more around you when you are close enough, then proceeds to run away in some direction that you have to find and follow again.
Close enough for a hit again, the process repeats, how do you respect it? do you just not hit them ever and just follow them around not gaining anything?

compared to how it used to be its terrible
maybe but you claimed it was nerfed "into the ground", that is not a statement that is comparing anything, "into the ground" means that its just useless which it REALLY isnt.
Nerfed yes, but still a boringly overpowered perk.

It wasn't just useful, it was downright broken, but they massively overnerfed it's range. It would've been fine at 10 metres. 6 metres is pathetic.
Well thats the thing, nobody....well nobody who's worth a damn, wants anything OP in the game, its just cheap and not fun, we want a challenge.
But we would also like the perk....to do something, something that makes it worth using, and right now there is just so little reason to use 90% of the perks in this game, its rediculous

I win like 80-90% of my matches with every killer. What about just learning how to play instead of complaining
Camping, Tunneling, returning to the hook/denying an unhook, they are good ways to 4k.. but I would not describe it as "winning".
Fact just is, there are 4 survivors and 1 of you, you chase 1 survivors, that is 3 on a gen or maybe 2 if 1 is following you around trying to undo traps or line up for a flashlight save.
Hook 1 survivor, chase a second, now 1 survivor is being chase, 1 is on the hook, 1 will go for the unhook and 1 is doing gens.
Repeat this patern throughout the match and the gens will be done way before anyone is dead on hook, that is just waht you have to deal with against a team who has a slight clue of how to play the game and have some awareness of what the others are doing.

I feel like the perk shouldn’t still interact with totems if it isn’t a hex totem itself since only some hex totems get bonuses based off other totems. It would also mean that it would be a bad choice to run it with other hex perks since the survivors cleansing the totem would make NOED weaker. Also the strength of the perk can’t really be shifted towards movement speed if the numbers you provided are lower than the speed that current NOED gives you.
regardless of everything said here, I just would like to mention that that could just be the mindgame, lets say the ramp up of speed is more subtle and would not immediatly give it away (also come to think of it, this suggested NoeD idea would partly remove its endgame perk status) then having a Hex Totem next to it might be one of those things that throw survivors off from assuming you have it, which then might work to your advantage.

I know but I just think it's kinda annoying that the millisecond I'm unblinded and recovering from the stun I'm blinded again. I know there are perks for that but they don't work with my build at all lol.
Well thats a trade off you have to make, if its not valuable enough or if the flashlight blinds are too situational (which in my case they are for the most part) then its not worth running yeah if you need the help from the other perks.
Its just a mechanic, look at it from the survivor perspective, they are wounded and just got helped out of your grasp, being able ot blind you a second time buys the wounded survivor more time to get away yet at the same time it does not stop you from listening where they went and already start moving towards them.

I used to be a survivor main
Camping every match is a bit of an exaggeration but it happend alot past few days idk why
Litrally all i want is extra bloodpoints and a safety pip for the person camped
I had only one killer camp me yesterday and I played all day, and that killer was rank 20 so they just did not know any better.
But yeah, I see no problem with extra bloodpoints for staying on the hook buying your team time with killers in proximity along with a safety pip, it wont stop camping, it wont nerf this ermm "legit strategy" in anyway, but it will make life a little less frustrating for the camped survivor.

Hook vacuum shouldn’t exist period. Why is it fair that a killer can glide to a hook even when they are 3 ft away? I’ve been 99% wiggled only for the killer to get a hook vacuum.
You are not suppose to wiggle out.... that can only work in rare occations where the killer is too greedy and wants to put you in the basement or where survivors body block.
I think removing the hook vacuum would have to mean other things have ot be changed as well to keep the balance like longer wiggle timers and maybe a light build in version of Mad Grit, ultimately negating anyway what you are trying to achieve here.

It doesnt activate unless the timer runs out now. Neither does it activate when you exit the trial its pretty stupid for me being a pig player and it only being a bit annoying pre game but not being a problem after 2 gens
it actually kills you if you try to leave through the exit gates with it activated....
But that is the key, it has to be activated, the devs did nerf the pig a bit on that front, basically there is no point in saving traps, just use them as soon as you can.
Survivors will have to adress an active trap on their head so you can use that time to find others and down and hook them, its a slow down mechanic.
Though I have been saying for a while now, I would love a buff that makes trap timers get reduced every time an additional gen is done while someone has an active trap on their head.
Meaning survivors should at best 99% gens if someone is walkling around with an active trap on their head.
-
ermm yeah, that is just a game mechanic, you are in a stun aka they can blind you.
This is not really different from a survivor slow vaulting and then getting a hit, you are in an animation and during that you have no control, thats just the game.
I would recommened Franklin's Demise or Lightborn though, they help against this sorta thing

-
eagerly awaiting the people who dont know how a discussion works and instandly bring up "WELL THEN X HAS TO HAPPEN TO DS" or whatever.
On the actual idea: it needs tweaking, 10 seconds for every totem remaining, so at max 50 seconds if not a single totem was destroyed, (which if there was any hex totem, it most def will be) that really is not enough time
EDIT: one of the big powers of NoeD is the all or nothing type of principle, if you do 4 totems but cant find the last 1, you have a problem because that 1 totem will be NoeD, with this change and the 10 second timer...who cares about that last totem? 10 seconds of avoiding a killer is not a problem apart from a rare case of the killer being right up your behind at the moment of the final gen
And can survivors do something then to reduce the timer? every totem destroyed after the final gen will remove 10 seconds? or is the idea that they should cleance all totems preferably before the final gen (as kinda is for NoeD now)?
Also I Think we have to be careful for speed increases, again this can be tweaked sure but you hook a survivor at the start, that gives you then 0.75% x 5 = 4.5% extra movement speed, you hook another and that can be another 4.5%, combine that with Play With Your Food and you will be a speed demon very soon I would think.
Overall it seems like it would be a fun idea but you have to be careful with increasing speed for killers

What even defines a "real gamer" in this day and age, though? Obviously not anyone who plays exclusively mobile games, some kid that thinks that Fortnite dancing in public is socially acceptable or anyone who utters the phrase "PC Master Race".
But yeah. Deadzone complaints are justifiable, especially with killers like Huntress and Deathslinger existing.
I think real gamers desire a challenge above all. That is what gaming is all about, a good hard but fair game.
AVGN had a lot of those games reviewed, games that were unforgiving but not unfair perse, stuff like Dark Souls really (altough you can cheap out in that game as well)
When the game gives you the option to play on Hard Mode, you pick Hard Mode damn it!
Although, this always reminds me of the game Ninja Blade....a game I brazenly started playing on the hardest....and in the end I had a hard time even finishing it on "foolproof" lol
But to bring it back to this game, its just said how many players just run the meta, giving themselves every inch of advantage they can...I have been saying this on a lot of threads now but I have been playing SWF with 3 of my friends for a week now without any perks on any of us and it has been great fun and we do in general more then fine (unless the killer is scummy obviously but hey what ya gonna do).

I think, based on the lore, any survivor from the past or present would eventually figure it out. They’d just keep dying in the entity’s realm until they learned themselves or through another survivor on what to do.
I would rather keep survivors modern though anyway, would feel a bit silly to see a Knight, Cowboy and IT Technician on a generator together.
I feel this is just because you limit yourself a tad to stereotype representation of time periods,
not to mention we already have a relatively cyber future skin for Kate including a cowboy hat, a cowboy skin for jake, a christmas jester outfit for dwight (I mean he could literally be a jester from medieval times with that look) etc.
And we have skins like the plague-doctor skin for the doctor for example that make him look like he is from the 1700s. We have a literally Cowboy killer and we have the Plague sooo why not some survivors that accompany that time period.
With all the skins that already make it seem like characters are from different time periods...why not right?
Personally I feel its rather lore breaking that the entity keeps picking survivors from the here and now.
Not to mention it being rediculous to think we cant relate to characters from other time periods or pure fiction, what about all the movies we watch that are about different time periods? can we not relate to characters from Game of Thrones? from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly? from 2001 A Space Oddesy? from games like Assassins Creed? or high fantasy like Lord of the Rings?
I completely get some things would be rather silly to have, like an astronaut in full suit running around, but it does not have to be that to be from the future or the past....

well a caveman is barely a perosn anyway.
but there is a LOT of time between a caveman and now.... 1500s 1600s 1700s 1800s heck isnt one of the lore characters basically from something like the 1800s?

I'd be against it. It could be abused so that killers would blacklist any survivors that bet them.
well I mean really, what is hte problem with that though? They would end up boosted to rank 1 and there they would become very lonely as they would have to blacklist more and more players making their personal Que times long as heck, basically ruining their own game.
To OP, I think we all see some issues with it, but the thing is, I would love for the devs to just...ya know, FREAKING TRY IT ?!!?!
Like seriously, for a month or 3, why not give a system like this a try and see how it goes, gather some data, who gets blacklisted and for what reasons, they could make it so that you have to give a reason for the blacklist.

Okay lets act like you are not asking for the free kill because you downed someone - bring a green Mori and you got your kill. Even better: since that person was hooked 2nd time (you are saying you could have gotten DS out of the way with tunneling before) no one really complains. There are multiple ways to handle this situation.
Or your only problem seems to be that DS exists in the first place.
either way, please phrase your next answer again like your others, my English is not well enough to argue on THAT condescending level and I will not bother answering again.
Condescending..... I said we agreed... and multiple times I said the issues was just having a different view on things which cannot be solved through arguments as we just feel differently, hence I wanted to end that debate.
No my problem is not that DS exists, I understand perfectly fine why it does, its about how it functions in certain scenario's and how it invites/requires what is imo toxic behavior (tunneling) rather then do what it was meant to do, which is protect a survivor from being tunneled to death.

Which as rightfully pointed out by @aregularplayer they are allowed to.
At OP, wont happen, it would basically kill SWF for the most part which means people cant play with their friends (unless they find some sneaky work around) meaning they play less or not at all meaning less moneyz for the devs.
Sorry, gotta suffer through it.

No DS doesn’t mean that luxuries such as tunneling and slugging aren’t at the killer’s disposal anytime they feel like using it.
Thanks for the reply but I think you misunderstood, or I guess I did not make myself clear enough.
This is not about a suggestion that DS should dissuade killers from Tunneling but that killers who were always going to still just do.
This is about how DS seems to do the opposite, invite tunneling from killers who normally dont because they know how unfun it is through playing both sides (like myself)
The argumentation for it is in the original post and I made several replies about it as well with maybe more detail.

Now, I might sound to be talking out by backside or being one in general. But playing better should be what first prevents kill rushing instead of a perk.
That hooked Survivor should learn how to better loop or evade the Killer to prevent being tunneled. And the other Survivor/s saving the hooked should learn when it is safe/unsafe to do so, or at least be a distraction to give the hooked a chance to get away.
Perks shouldn't be a replacement for player skill. This goes for both Killer and Survivor, but it does tend to be Survivor perks that give more second chances that have little to no counters and/or warnings. This (from my point of view) does make Survivor players a bit on the side of potato quality more often than not when Survivors have perks that grants them "skill" without needing to learn it.
agreed but different sort of discussion all together.
Dead Hard was made because of No Mither, to have a shield against the 1 health state.... ended up that nobody runs No Mither (I know, shocking) and people jsut run DS as an extra safety net.
THis goes the same for DS BT and Adren tbh and especially in combination.
But again I dont really want this thread derailed by that, you can make your own if you want to discuss this issue, I will say though that I have been playing for the past week now with my 3 friends SWF with non of us running any perks or items at all and we are doing more the fine, rather painful when you think about what those perks previously mention grant the users.

You are basically asking for a free kill because you played nicely though.
and even then there are mechanics for you - bring rancor for example, or NOED and go for the unhooker alternately Make Your Choice. Or camp when exit-gates are open, most survivors don’t even complain about camping in this situation. There is plenty you can do.
or just tunnel before the gens get done. It’s not against the rules. But don’t act surprised if the survivors don’t cheer about getting tunneled.
"or just tunnel before the gens get done. It’s not against the rules. But don’t act surprised if the survivors don’t cheer about getting tunneled."
yeah....that is literally what this thread is about...
And as if survivors cheer you on for running NOED lol or Ranchor for that matter.
Im not asking for a free kill at all, I already downed the person, the kill is pretty much in the bag, the work to attain it has been done for 90%, its about not having an answer for DS in tha...ya know what, never mind, I cant keep going over this back and forth and just repeating myself, like I said before, lets not continue this as...well for one I dont think you truely understand the problem when I read this last reply but other then that I think we just have a different view on it...and yet we dont judging by your last suggestion.

It’s a situation that you have no control over - okay but this is a game and again just one situation (even if common).
There are many situations on both sides like this but no need to justify unfair play. You did not get that kill. The survivors have to meet many criterias to get in this situation, they need to have all gens done, a gate open, being hooked somewhat near the gate and have DS equipped and not used.
in another way - getting camped is pretty common and you as surv have no control over that situation. And? Most people here will say „just let yourself get camped, others do gens and escape“
camping imo is more akin to the killer just throwing the game, they dont actually want to play because well they arnt...
its closer to survivors just running up to the killer and letting themselves die, I mean sure you can ... not kill them at that point and then we just all sit there nicely afking, otherwise you kill them, nobody gets points or pips or anything and its kinda the same scenario.
The scenario I describe however is one of actually playing the game and having no answer for something just because you played nicely hence it invites tunneling as that is the only way to get rid of DS so this cannot happen.
But lets not go back and forth on this, your stance is that its ok that something is unfolding infront of you that you cant do anything about because its a game and I disagree with that myself, so lets just agree to disagree.

Absolutely although I strongly disagree that he was weak. He was my favourite killer to play as, now I don't play him at all. Old Freddy just needed to be understood. Otzdarva and all the others could play him just fine. Old Freddy required such a different style of playing. He was the most unique killer.
The DEVs were idiotic. Instead of a radical change why don't you think of why you made him the he was? If you think that when you first created him and thought your team did the job correctly then maybe you were right. If veteran players can play him fine then maybe instead of completely ruining him, you should educate people that can't seem to grasp his mechanics. Seriously some informative videos should have been your first move. If you invested millions of dollars in to making a video game and people were having a hard time understanding it, would you scrap your work for a new game or try and educate? And then go from there.
Everyone on both sides find him OP and boooooooooooring
I played freddy just fine for the most part as well, but where he was super weak was when someone was at the door, you walked up and could not do anything but sit there and HOPE you got them into the dream before the door was opened.
Same scenario for when they are doing gens or when they are healing someone, you are right there but powerless to stop what is happening right infront of you.
And then there was the aim-dressing messing you up, 2 people infront of you, 1 in the dream, 1 not, you aim for the one in the dream but for some bewildering reason it always seemed to autoaim for the one not in the dream and because of that you "missed".
Simple ways to tweak those issues which I suggested to death but no, a complete character breaking re-work was in order apperently.....
-
@Mooks said:
Well, that scenario is pretty situational though, and maybe those survs are just escaping. There is no shame in not getting that one kill in the end.
even though it’s apparently your job to kill, that’s not necessarily true. This is a game, have fun, don’t obsess about this one potential kill, you got the hook and probably some more before in the match, you had chases, you injured and downed survivors.
That is not the point, its about a situation unfolding that you have no control over, you can see what is happening but cant do anything about it, that is what is so lame about it.
And its not nearly as situational as you seem to insinuate, having someone on the hook when the doors open is like... super common, and if you played fairly the entire game, chances are high they have their DS still, which is what this is about.
DS in an attempt to make it more fair for survivors in certain situations, makes it unfair for killers in certain situations, meaning to killer would have to play in an unfun manner in order to keep some control, that is the point of this thread.
@PrettyFaceKate said:

Regarding your first point, maybe you're lucky. I have no way to tell in your specific case. On a macro level, is that the experience of the majority of players? Doubtful.
Regarding your second point. There are multiple ways for killers to work around that. Mobility killers can rush back to the hook and leave whatever they were doing. Stealth killers can camp and survivors often have little way of knowing it, especially solos. On a side note, those strategies even counter BT.
I just find the notion that DS promotes tunneling to be a little suspicious, as if tunneling wasn't prevalent pre-DS and as if slugging the unhooked isn't a common tactic exactly because of DS. If the perk didn't exist, would the unhooked be slugged/let go, or rather immediately re-hooked? I suspect it would be the latter.
Just my 2 cents, for what they're worth.
Suspicious? I explain quite objectively what the problem is, I dont want to tunnel because I know its not fun for the other side so I avoid doing so at all times, but its not very fun for me to rob me of a kill in the end purely because I played in a fun for all manner and now I dont have an answer for the situation infront of me.
I mean, a simple solution would be DS no longer functioning once the End Game Collapse is in effect for example, but that is not really what this thread is about, its about how DS creates a powerful uncounterable safe zone for survivors using it when the killer plays in a way that is fun for the survivors.
Its about how a perk goes from helping a helpless survivor from a tunneling killer, to providing a position of power against a killer that does not tunnel. Instead of helping the helpless it then punishes the fun and fair, not to be too dramatic about it.
-
@PrettyFaceKate said:
In general, if a killer wants to tunnel, they'll do it regardless.
Regarding your question specifically, go into a match without an obsession and get found first. You will test very easily if it was DS that promoted tunneling.
DS and BT are a necessary evil because there's no other mechanic that dissuades killrushing a single player.
Then why dont I or my friends ever run these perks and generally do fine?
Heck there is a mechanic in principle, wait a bit untill the killer is far away and/or busy before you unhook.
EDIT:
Also on the first part, its not about players who always tunneled, its about those that do not that get punished for not doing it in the manner discribed, its about DS basically telling killers they should tunnel just so they dont have an issue with it later on when it matters more.

if casual...then why cant I change my fov / have proper support for a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor? even CSGO supports that and that is about as competative as gaming gets.
-
ok what childish nonsense is all of this now... jeez
-
I quite like leatherface, but each their own
-
real gamers are dead man, it has become too common, too populair, thus ruined really.
-
No camping
No tunneling
No super try hard build's especially on the front of add ons
No mori's
No general toxic behavior but that much is obvious, like for example no slugging all survivors and just letting them bleed to death on the floor.
This is how I play killer myself, I dont use Add Ons at all but you do whatever you need on that front, within limits.
Just think to yourself: "what makes a fun challenging fair match?"
Even then some survivors will claim you did camp or tunnel but that is just being a sore loser really.
-
The devs wont make up their mind on that front.
If it was competative, a lot of aspects like add ons and mori's and keys and items should not exist.
If its casual...then why cant I have a 21:9 aspect ratio resolution to run the game at, oh right..."unfair advantage" when even CSGO supports it....thought it was a casual game?

PC gaming is dying, remember that?
All I can say is that about 2 years ago we had about 18000 players in the steam stats, currently its sitting doubled at 36000 so yeah stats do not agree.

I mean, yeah...another survivor....great? I mean they are just skin jobs so who cares? they could add brenda as well, would be exactly the same thing.
