This thread is kinda weird:
"Mclean was wrong"
"it should do what he claimed"
I mean this is either or, either he was wrong OR it should do what he claimed, but the former is the correct answer, he was wrong, reslience does not affect everything and this is by design.

Oh boy, rank definitely means something. I hate getting matched against green rank potatoes when I am a red rank killer, the skill gap is massively noticeable despite what people say.
You should play a little game then, and be honest doing it.
Play killer games and based on what you see, try to guess what rank each of the players you are facing is, I promise you, you will be suprised.
I know I am every single time, I might be a poor judge at that but try it yourself, I have had games where one player is a massive potato, could not find a window to save his life (this was a jake), end game screen?....well F my sideways, everyone is rank 8 and that Jake was rank 4.....how? HOW?!!!?!
How? well because rank is not an indicator.
Also had plenty of matches with clearly purpose depipped players at rank 17 who very much knew what they were doing.
-
Mori's arnt really an issue, just run up to the killer and make yourself die on the first hook, gg ez next match which hopefully will be an actual match.
-
Ermm so to the first part, why would you DC at all, wait a few seconds and die like the gameplay intends...
To the second, you dont have to play, you can just go sit in the basement tbh and wait for them to leave.
Apart from that the game would be quite ruined if people who are doing badly just dip out early every time.

I understand what you mean about hours played and skill. But it is clearly seen 50 hours killer vs over 1000 hours survivor is simply not ok.
IF you want to bring hours in the equation, it should really be about the devotion level, as that requires actually playing the game
-
The fact that you compare the two as separate entities is part of the problem you know...

I am sick of fighting for one side only its time to think about both sides. Both sides are fine it's the community who need to think of ways we can balance the game not think of ways to make one side overpowered. The community need to think if hoe much work devs put into things. Yes sometimes things aren't the best but it's called trial and error learn something from this phrase.
Lets be honest, compared to many many many other developers those that make this game are downright lazy.
And the funny thing is, they can be downright lazy AND be loved by the community, how? by letting us test things and a lot of it.
I hate how these devs say no to ideas because "They tested it and did not think it was good"...well great...and you are? we play this game way more then any of these devs, you have a gawd damn PTB, throw it in there and WE will judge it...
And how about a dedicated PTB file so we dont have to re-download and then re-re-download the basegame over and over and over again..... is that so much to ask?
Heck maybe throw a list of tasks to complete like previous events in that PTB so players actually test what you want them to test, then give them a questionair at the end of it and reward them with something silly like a charm in the actual game.
What about an ever evolving charm based on that pointless addition called a "devotion level", I could crank that out in my sleep.
Some settings options? really that much work?
A perk rework, a single perk where the numbers are switched around a bit, a single dev could crank that out in less then an afternoon then throw it in and see how it goes...oh its OP now? fine, ez tweaking, no harm done, good now? great a perk that was gathering dust might now be actually used by some players....
Lets also not forget these are the same people that admited the rediculous design flaw in the huntress hatchets, tried to change it, messed up in a spectacular fashion, simply reverted it to the rediculous design from before and NEVER TOUCHED IT AGAIN.
So please, spare me the "the devs are working hard" bs, they are not, they are a maximum profit company as they put in minimum effort.
The only impressive change they made in my memory that is not tied to making more money (aka DLC) is the end game collapse with its custom mechanics, looks, animations, but that is it.
-
add ons like that should be removed anyway, if its too powerful (meaning default Demo is fine but with the add on he is better then fine thus slightly OP) and because its brown so many demo's can be OP all the time.
Or its needed to bring them slightly up the balance meaning its needless busywork constandly putting the add-on on and getting new ones in the bloodweb.
Man I hate add ons in this game so freaking much >:L

But it is still only one matchmaking based so still it only matter for games now. I have no idea why matchmaking didnt count played hours. There is no reason face 1000 hours players as new one.
Having many hours does not mean you have much skill.
Im currently idleing in the game, why? because I feel it takes too long to start teh game up, yesterday I idled literally all day and played 2 matches of survivor.
Im a rank ermm currently 3 survivor, not because im actually good, just because I play a lot, a rank 12 killer can easily kick my behind.

This isn't even that bad. Rank 6 vs rank 4 and 1. Also, you're Spirit, so there is no room to complain.
right? its almost like this is a joke, im waiting for a "how is this fair, this is why I quite, fun matchmaking yall" thread where the survivors are rank 1 and the killer is rank 2.

I hate to put it this way but taking an arbitrary checklist isn't fun.
As a killer I shouldn't be punished because the survivors were potatoes or because I completely wrecked them.
As a survivor I shouldn't be punished because the killer wasn't competent enough to get a down.
That way you're not rewarding efficient or good gameplay your rewarding how much somebody can fit a bell curve and punishing them if they dare to colour outside the lines.
Again I dont agree, I know the game devides up the category "Killer" and "Survivor" and I feel that trips people up.
Should a survivor get max points for doing nothing but urban-evade around the map the entire game and then get the hatch at the end?
I mean they survived right?
What you always need to remember I feel is that Lorewise the Entity put the players in the trial for her enjoyment, that enjoyment means an exciting match, not an instand kill.
Dont think the gladiatorial battles or underground boxing matches or whatever generate a lot of money when its just over in 1 second, people go there to see a spectacle.
-
You should know rank means nothing, and if you see a team of 4 bunny feng's all with flashlights...well its entirely your OPTION to play that match, you can just dodge that.
-
old freddy was fantastic
new freddy is so cheap and boring
-
You have the wrong mindset to even try, if a player/killer does not want to actually play the game, then dont play the game.
Just do gens and leave, dont reward the behavior otherwise they will just keep doing it, its amazing how silly surviors are in that regard, you cant even blame the killer at that point.
-
ok ermm well you do you, just know Rank means nothing....
-
(secretly it is bait)
-
I would say getting an actually fun like, fun fun match has been winning the lottery for a while now tbh.
I mean sure, its in general fun enough to keep playing, otherwise...why would you? but to have a match of fair challenge where people do try to win but arnt scummy or try hard about it, with a good amount of hooking etc, its super rare.

If you're completely crushing survivors it means you're on a higher skill level than them and you should by right be moved of to people more your level.
Not ticking everything on an arbitrary checklist should not ruin your chances of leveling up
I dont agree, if a match really goes that fast, then something is just wrong, something makes no sense, it should be disqualified tbh.
-
Because we dont want to promote games like that
-
you mean Adept killer? you need to get a merciless victory, atleast 3 irridecent and 1 gold emblem.
-
He has nothing to do with the movies, basically the developers got the license to use the look/mask as that was not made for the Scream movies but just used for them.
Basically the ghostface is a outfit that belongs to "Funworld" which is where the license is from, so again, nothing to do with the movies.
Regarding what he does I would recommend watching some videos on twitch or youtube like from Otzdarva, basically he stealths and stalks survivors and once a survivor is fully stalked the ghostface can M1 them down in 1 hit like Myers.
Cool cosmetics? well you can just go to the ingame store and check what is available.
Yes he has the movie outfit as the movie outfit is not from the movie ;)
Fun to play, yeah I think so but he can be a tad buggy regarding the ability to stalk or regarding survivors getting you out of the stalking mode (by looking at you)
He is pretty good yes.

Hooks camping and returning is not unfair, same goes to genrush or swf, these are just normal strategys.
never claimed it was unfair, I said it was MORE fair not to do it, dont be so butthurt jeez.
-
wrong though, the only reason camping is allowed is because the devs have no way of policing it.

Not the person you quoted but it’s more like... for example, if I’m trying to do a tome challenge for healing, and I bring a medkit with some add ons, and then I go against a Plague... I just get punished for not being psychic enough to know which killer I’d face. I can’t use my item or my add ons, which would be ok, except that I lose the add ons I couldn’t even use, meaning I have less for the next time I try.
As add on dependent as killers are, at least we can use the add ons we pick.
I dont use add ons on killer nor do I use items for survivors.
And yeah, way to create the one single scenario where it might be a bit of a waste....now compare that to the 20 other killers we have and the fact that plague is not even populair and yeah....

I've got a stockpile of 20. They drop like candy if you do the sortie every day.
honestly then you are super lucky, the game has not interested me for about half a year now I think but up to that point I did sorties just about every day as well, again, only ended up having 2.
But yeah, still 20 is a lot better then the hundreds of ebony mori's people have

I honestly have no idea, it made me stop playing survivor even more.
You stop playing survivors because you cant bring EXTRA items?
Jeez....
-
Eh it depends, the problem with nurse players is that they either kinda play scummy or down people so fast there is nothing else for them to do.
By playing kinda scummy I mean just going for slugging the entire time until everyone is down or returning to the hook the moment someone is unhooked.

What are you smoking? Bad killer ping is a big deal because Killers have priority on hits.
^ this, if the hit connected on the killer side, if it looked for them that they got the hit, then the server grants them the hit.
Even though for the survivor they were on the other side of the planet.
I have had a game like that recently, its rare but oh boy was it an experience.
-
imagine being high rank but still so boringly trash you have to rely on the meta to carry you through, sad days.
But yeah as was suggested, most def report that one player who typed "#########"
-
I have to repeat myself time and time again.
Ebony Mori's would be fine if "Ultra Rare" actually meant ultra ffing rare.
Imagine having gotten only 1 after 600 hours of playing this game, you would be so happy with such a rare item you would not even think to use it.
In warframe there is an item called a "legenday core" now this is an old item and all it does is level up 1 mod up to max level which is not entirely interesting anymore these days, but the item is sitll in the game and its so freaking rare that in my idk 6000 hours.... on the game I have gotten...2.
Im not going to use those ever, they are collectables to me.

The fact that you can decide to simply destroy the other side by bringing mori is not good for the health of the game.
I have been saying this for a LONG time, I totally agree, I dont mind it IF an "ultra rare" was actually freaking ultra rare, but people have hundreds of the damn things....
Both sides have these sort of ... tools.
Add ons are a fundamental problem in how a lot of them work, make X go faster or last longer.
It just means that EITHER the devs made a killer, adjusted the killer till they thought it was balanced and then made add ons that make the killer better in certain areas aka skewing the balance up, skewing the balance in the killers favor.
OR the devs made a killer, adjusted the killer till they thought it was balanced, then NERFED the killer so they are actually too weak which then can be fixed by equiping (mandatory) add ons to compensate for that nerf so we can have some balanced matches.
Making add ons just needless busy work to spend bloodpoints on...
Imo add ons should do nothing else but CHANGE the way powers work, a bit of give and a bit of take, there are some add ons like that in the game like Scratched Mirror for example.
Ultimately this comes down to the devs not wanting to commit to a ermm designation for this game, is it Casual or is it Competative?
If it is competative, then why these options that fundamentally ruin any sense of balance?
If its casual, then why cant we for example have a 21:9 aspect ratio resolution of those that have monitors like that.....I mean even freaking CSGO has that which is about as competative as a game can get but in DBD it would give you an unfair advantage?
/rant
-
While not perfect, pretty ez fix, they infinite? you camp, no fun for anyone at that point.
-
Start playing more fairly instead of hook camping/returning and you wont 3/4K all the time.
Start playing without add ons and start bringing more meh perks if you desire a bit more challenge.
You can make this game as ez as you want for yourself, bring an Ebony Mori and certain add ons every game and yeah, you skew the game entirely in your favor, that is your choice though, if you enjoy taking candy from a baby....well seek help but you do you I guess.
-
Never understand these threads, it either will or wont but what is the point of knowing now....it is of no influence on anything you do from this point.
-
Lets look at this objectively.
What is the point of the RBT's?
The point is to slow survivors down, if you run around and do the boxes, one after another, unopposed then you will reach the last box about 3/4th of the way of the timer.
If you die by the box you either kinda got screwed because the killer happened to be trying to get someone around the box where you needed to be or you spend too much time doing other stuff at your own risk, but that is the key here, risk, a risk you take.
No different from not cleansing totems and then complaining about NoeD.
Anywho, again, it is meant to slow survivors/you down, a variation on this same principle is Legion's Frenzy attack that you have to spend time on mending.
Is it fun to be slowed down? maybe not.... but I mean is it fun to be shot in Counter Strike and then having to wait till the next round? or is it fun to walk in a Trapper beartrap and trying to get out? is it fun...idk being slugged by a killer? everything there slows you down, holds you back, that is what the opponent inflicts upon you so they stand a chance.
Some killers are fast, Oni, Billy, Nurse, Spirit, and others rely on slowing you down, Legion, Pig, Doctor, Clown, those are just their mechanics.
Lastly lets reverse this, is it fun for a killer to walk to a hook only to have it sabotaged in their face? because that is the survivors holding the killer back, same for being flashlighted or pallet slammed when carrying someone.
But that is just the game really, what I would like to know rather then all this complaining, what would you like to see changed that is still inline with the lore?
Maybe another survivor can look for a box for you and get a key to get your beartrap off but at the cost of a healthstate? them giving (part of) their life for you? that could be fun and I doubt the killer cares because now 2 survivors are busy doing something other then gens.
-
A friend of mine has this error every single time after a match, she always DCes during the endgame chat moment and we have to re-invite her, every match.
She verified the files, reinstalled the game, even moves the game to a different drive, no change.
-
You dont need items to begin with, come on.
-
happens on the pc as well, its rare, but they actually just DCed, the game does not even show they did but they did.
-
you can play with a gamepad/controller on pc as well, just sayin

Sure, but while making early stuff good quality is nice for the casuals, you also gotta respect the dedicated players' time investment, this cosmetic doesn't do that ... By both being the exact same cosmetic as last time (as in, a Feng head) and by being just plain meh ...
Sure but yeah, you get that sweet charm and plenty of killers and survivors only run those end charms purely to show they did it, so thats the value of making it to the end
-
I think they do that specifically for that reason, its not terrible interesting, a lot of the good stuff is given early on which is imo very nice of the devs, means its not htat bad not to make it to the end
-
this happens to all survivors tbh, go figure, you copy paste the same animation on all your survivors, no custom per so ez work...and you can't even do that 1 animation correctly.
-
who cares?
Its not like some player claiming the game is dying or not changes reality sooo yeah, who cares?
-
@CosmicParagon said:
That would be insanely overpowered, especially with SWF.
You are waaaaay too quick to judge, this is the bare basics of a suggestion with ENDLESS room to tweak for balance.
What if you could only rebuild a single pallet per game and you could only do that during the endgame collapse as being the last survivor in the trial? now suddenly its so damn rules bound its not worth running for anyone.
Nobody would want that obviously but its a simple way of showing how this bare basic idea goes from "insanely overpowered" in your head to completely pointless.
So yeah, stop judging so quickly and try to think about what conditions you would think have to be met before you would approve of the idea.
-
you bring an Ebony mori and you complain about matchmaking?

Okay but instead of just saying that can you explain why?
one has a timer that can kill a survivor if not adressed for too long.
the other is....just a portal...
I mean this is just variation in gameplay mechanics which is good that it exists, you cant interact with a Hag portal unless you have a flashlight or just run through it risking a hit.
You can interact with a beartrap but only as one person.
This is all variations on gameplay and has everything to do with balance as well.
-
these are WILDLY different things, you cant compare those at all.
-
l4d added competent AI ermm lets see now, about 12 years ago, but its probably beyond these devs.
Heck Battlefield has been doing 32 vs 32 players with competent detailed hitboxes since 2002...18 years ago....
Anywho, would be nice, but with these devs, big fat not going to happen

sure, takes more time though, similairly you could also just hold shred for a bit longer to get the shred it.
