Yeah, just like some killers prevent hitting with M1 when they have NOED unless someone is close to the gate. That's simply a strategy. There are 2 doors and 1 hatch. It only really ######### over a survivor when the hatch is closed. But guess what? When the EGC was implemented, it ######### over survivors a lot because before the EGC, they could fix up all 7 generators for extra points. NOED used to only last for 2 minutes and there was nothing at risk if they decided to remain inside after the doors were opened. Now the EGC made outside the exitgate a bit more unsafe, NOED got buffed and 2 generators get blocked once the 5th is fixed. Games change and players adapt to it. If there are killers camping the gates, I'm certain within 4 days someone found a way to get around that while playing solo.

NoeD is a HEX perk, one out of 4 they can equipe and has an ez counter for survivors.

Your idea is build in, which is a big difference, also the strat you mention is to make sure people dont know you have NoeD for as long as possible so they dont look for it.

In the idea of the exposed exit gate its just how killer will play from that point on and there is no counter to it for the survivors, it would make unhooks nearly impossible and just means survivors have to leave at the end instead of even attempting to save.

Couple that with bloodwarden and I feel it would be really unhealthy for the match.

Again I agree the exit gate area is too strong, but this is just a very problematic change.

  • So you tried it and it tells you its not competible

It is hard but it depends on gate spawns, usually I’d try to open up the other half way then fully open up the other gate, but it’s hard when they are close to each other and the killer camps.

well yeah it is suppose to be, you are in a bad spot at that point, which is the killers doing by killing half the team or 3/4th of the team up to that point.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1233772#Comment_1233772

Why not tho? You can still pull off the same ######### as before, by simply doing it right outside the exitgate rather than inside it, except now it actually requires some planning to bait a hit.

a killer that knows they will get a one shot once past the gate line will just wait with a hit untill then.

  • what you have to fear is the hackers that use subtle cheats, just a TAD faster at times or just at TAD faster exhaustion recovery, nobody would know but it could totally give you an undeserved victory.

Oh well, when you thought hacking in online games was impossible...

  • while I agree the exit gate area is too powerful and annoyingly so, this is not a fair change imo

  • unrelated but can you imagine if they did a "suggest a feature" challenge every month?

can you imagine how much further along this game would be to being reaaaally good?

  • Oni and Myers, both have to work for their power and both have ti only temporary, to get the most out of it you start slugging, its the obvious thing to do.

Though Oni has some freedom to pick people up and then keep part of his charge so he can quickly go into rage mode again.

  • seems more logical to have a minimum distance between doors to me, also the red light can be used to your advantage, just saying.

  • If there is 1 survivor left, you COULD do it, but its hard, bit of mindgames are needed.

if there is 2 left you have no excuse, 1 does 1 door and the other does the other.

Apart from that your logic is just flawed, the killer might as well report you for not attempting to escape lol

  • those who go for an optimal gen rush will do separate gens, now and after the patch, no change.

but this is merely meant to give the killer a chance to reach the other side of the map before a gen pops, tahts all

  • If you play (what I would call) fair as killer, you tend to not do great.

If you play (what I would call) a tad scummy as killer, you will do better.....but was that fun?

What I mean is, you see a survivor, down them, hook them.

Shortly after you find another survivor, down them.....dont hook them, you know that once that person is down and the other is still on the hook, someone is right there to unhook them, they might do it right after the down or atmost when you pick them up soooo

go back to the hook....deny the unhook, maybe down the person that went for the unhook, ez new hook and the other person is now in stage 2 if the dont straight up let themselves die, then you are only fighting 3 if even that...

ez yes but again...what did you gain? was it fun? effective yes but so is cheating or taking candy from a baby, its not really gratifying but that maybe is just me.

  • as I said in your other thread, 90% of the perks do, but you should probably post this in feedback or so

but to react to your suggestion, I dont think you understand how flip flop works, it does not give you wiggle speed bonus.

It allows you to build up the wiggle meter by recovering on the floor, so at max, when you are picked up, the wiggle bar starts at 50% completed.

It not stacking with breakout is just weak game design imo, allow for mix and matching of perks but then messing up badly that 2 working together would be too strong sooo uhhh they just dont work together....cuz ermm cuz they dont.

Personally what I always wanted for Boil Over is for the survivor to be able to steer the killer a little bit, obviously subject to balance but yeah make the wiggling automatic as long as you press A or D and allow using A or D to steer the killer a bit left or right making them run into objects as much as you can.

It is possible to hack consoles, but it's a lot more time consuming and costly than hacking a game on PC.

Don't worry though, the Dedicated Servers have crossplay capability, so hackers on PC can play with you over them. You can tell they're from PC because they'll have a little globe icon by their username.

more time consuming and costly? sorry but you have to send me some links etc to let me know where you got that from.

  • I would make it random, so there is a chance of getting the same one 3 times in a row or something, for balance reasons

You can upvote the posts you like, or if you disagree, find a post that explains why you disagree (or make one yourself) and upvote that. A lot of people use it as a way to say, "I agree with this." without having to copy and paste what the other guy said, or quote them and say "This."

Yes I get that, that is what I said though.

You can only agree, you cannot disagree.

The only thing then is to make a new post purely to disagree and have upvotes on that, which is just a tad silly all in all.

I did. But does that actually do anything? She is rank 1. She must have been playing a while. Unless you can set ur rank with the cheat software.

with cheats you would double pip every game so even if cheats cant insta put your rank that high, you can reach it VERY fast

  • @Peanits said:

We used to have one, but people would use bots to mass downvote posts of people they dislike. We even tried bringing it back once, but the same thing started happening again.

Well why have upvotes then still? I mean that just skews the idea entirely.

Unless you always have the immediate counter view posts that can get its own upvotes.

A lil confused by this. What is meant by a "made up username"? I think Xbox only allows one name change per month. I could not even find this option in-game.

ok the username part is just for PC, the rest is the same regardless of platform

  • Legion is very enjoyable

  • perks? pfff its called skill baby YEAH!

But to be a bit more serious, I have been running perkless matches with a 2 - 3 - 4man SWF on red ranks the last weeks and its been going more then fine.

So with that comes a bit of freedom and its lovely to get some value out of the many perks this game has to offer.

Like Deja Vu, I mean its actually really nice to just exactly know where gens are, on some maps I would say its actually VERY helpful, mostly the indoor maps.

Like Left Behind, being the last survivor running around with the killer up your behind and just seeing that aura, its fantastic.

Like Tenacity, being able to crawl WAY faster then any killer expects AND recover? dude, that is just golden and can totally help you and others escape.

As for killer, hmm its hard to determine value out of some of the perks you have as killer, I just have different builds for every killer, I guess Spies, Huntress Lullaby, Lightborn, Im All Ears are all very nice to have

  • Yeah tis rare, even when it was just out when it was suppose to be pushed a bit, a higher percentage chance of getting it, I rarely encountered the map

I meant gameplay mechanics to counter their “two man OoO” strategy, not giving up or quitting lol. I don’t think there really is much you can do unless they’re bad or get way too cocky.

Well there is no blank statement to make as to what to do, you could just try camping for example, I mean even if they know what you are doing there is little they can do about it and if they just do gens and leave well... I mean whatever right? nobody got points, it barely was a match, moving on.

But nobody can tell you how to exactly deal with it, if you are good enough you might just be able ot get them all by just playing, a well co-ordinated SWF team is also not impossible to defeat and you can safetly bet they always know where you are as well

  • So you just made an account for a forum you dont have to visit just to tell others to stop arguing?

Like why are you even here?

  • Background Check: When the killer hits you, you get to see one of the perks the killer has equiped for a few seconds

Taking Over: Continuing working on a gen (at minimum at X%) another player recently left gives a temporary boost to gen speed

Above the Law: Can prep an exit door by 5% for every gen done so far before its powered

Classified: Items carried are not shown/visible unless actively in use, picking up used item restores it for X% 1 time

  • @OP, first I did not read your post nor anything posted so far but I just want to say that maybe you are right, maybe it wont fix everything, but this is where the devs are smart, they dont do everything right away.

If you throw everything out right away you introduce way too many variables, its hard to then check what some changes have done.

This is why im so annoyed by threads that immediatly say "well if you nerf ruin, also nerf X"... like...give it some time? actually try it out? see how it works?

If its not good enough then its not good enough and more changes will come but lets do it step by step.

  • I mean, the streamer could hide their (for that stream) made up username and could hide the lobby till the point the match starts....

  • yeah alongside a ton of perks, but these devs are too lazy to even let us try stuff with the PTB soooo yeah, good intentions but they will fall on deaf....dev? ears

Instead we will see 1 perk in the next 3 months, get a change from 1% to 1.4% and we should be happy for all the hard work the devs put into that.

Also exposed for 60 seconds is just insane..... heck even being exposed in the basement is rediculous.

I would be ok with point 1, I agree you should just see survivors aura in the basement with a little sound indicating they went in (and no, not the same boring explosion sound effect they lazely use for every single thing)

This aura reading should be countered by the lockers but the perk should light up so you do know there is someone down there.

Secondly I feel survivors should be exhausted in the basement and for the next 20 seconds after leaving it.

  • You have to realize how unrealistic this idea is with the amount of work that would require from these devs.

Though some sort of mechanic that makes it feel more legion's then one is in play is pretty cool.

  • You could slug, you could just give it a go, you could just wait in the basement until they are done and leave, you could leave the match.

    Plenty of options.

  • If everyone plays, what I would call, in a fair manner, then the game is very survivor sided.

If killers play scummy then...well its barely even worth calling a match.

There is too much, I would have to react everything you reacted to again, so I just made this overall statement about your reply, that is all.

  • an M1 is easier to get then a chainsaw hit, this is by design + who knows, maybe because its a 1shot killer it might be more suprising when they have NoeD allowing killers to make good use of it.

You can drive non stop. I wouldnt be playing this game much if those addons wouldnt exist.

And by saying that addons make hillbilly op you clearly being wrong.

    clearly.....

Can you get hits with them you otherwise would not?

Can you get around the map quicker then you otherwise would?

You are using them for a reason, it gives you an advantage over standard Billy making them OP, play without them and adept to the limits.

  • @Demogordon_Ramsay said:

Okay, I won't chase them. They will then proceed to do gens.

Okay, i'll wait for them to use SB or DH. Then they'll just use it like the braindead free distance Perks they are and get to a pallet for free.

Okay, and then the rest of the team will be doing gens while I'm puppy-guarding this one, and then that fourth Survivor will probably leave as well.

Okay, I slug them, and then they use Unbreakable.

Okay, then they have UnbreakaDecisive when they get unhooked.

Head On actually is easily countered, I'll give you that.

Okay, I tunnel them, and they have UnbreakaDecisAdrenalineHard while their friends have Borrowed and they'll have far too many defenses to be tunneled.

These are almost all lose-lose situations.

this honest just reveals you have not played enough killer yet im afraid

my point is that I don't think is really important to make this little issue between you 2 public and you can have it privatedly, and I don't think they really wanted you to tag them in a new discussion, but I guess you already knew that and still acted like a kid. They literally told you they weren't interested on keep answering and you just had to be anoying for them. (talking in third person because idk fibijean's gender)

Are you kidding me? they implied I was wrong in mystatements, claimed the devs could easily fix it but just didnt but Im a kid for wanting to know more about this easy fix and following up exactly the instructions I suggested and they agreed with?

    Nice logic there...

    @MadLordJack said:

First, what's this about 'beachball hatchets'? Genuinely curious. If it's about Huntress's regular old hatchet hitbox, please do remember that it's as much a negative as a positive. Imagine how OP she would be with Plagues missile hitbox, or (I don't really want to think about this) Deathslingers. Huntress>Nurse in anyone's hands if that was the case.

Second, you cannot just add a punishment system for camping and tunelling without adding a reward system for juggling. As it stands ( and I don't know if this is a glitch) I get massive negative emblem for 'camping' hooks as I chase a moron around their teammate. I get constantly DS'd for 'tunneling' as I rip survivors off of gens they worked on in my face or out of lockers they leapt into as I came up to them 6 miles away from the hook after chasing, downing, and hooking their buddy. If I get punished for shite I'm not actually doing, there'd better be a way for me to go out of my way to completely avoid survivors on hooks/1 minute after a hook and get rewarded for it. Even if it's just a BP multiplier that doesn't effect the actual game. Maybe survivors could get the opposite as well, every hook they get in a row doubles their endgame points (3 hooks/unrescued hook states = 4×BP).

Just that, yeah the hitbox of the hatchets was showing on the devstream to being as if the Hatchet rotates around every axes, making it an orb shape, this hitbox would however not hit edges of objects like that but will hit survivors who stand right around an edge.

They themselves showed how it should be, this rectangle box around the hatchet moving in 1 axes, they tried it and failed completely, it was more broken then ever so they just reverted it and never touched it again, this is one of those reasons I dont trust the devs when the claim they "tried something and it did not work so its not in the game".

    @twistedmonkey said:

It’s not simply about punishing camping or tunneling as there are legit circumstances where they have said it’s a viable and well a strat that can and should be used. Some of the devs when streaming even do it themselves. Mcote for one used to patrol camp a lot.

DS while not perfect right now is a start as a good way to reduce tunneling as killers have to think and make a choice. Another way could be to reduce blood points or even remove BBQ stacks or POP doesn’t activate if the same survivor is hooked again before another. Its more about it being beneficial to not do this rather than it be the best strat.

I believe this is why they try to entice players from doing it rather than out right punish for it as there are a lot of variables to consider if they did outright punish for it.

For one more info would be needed say if a survivor was close to the hook as you cant punish if they are there since the killer could find and chase them. It’s not the killers fault in that scenario. So how is that scenario itself fixed? It would really mean giving the killer info on when a survivor is close so they are not being punished. This then allows them to stand just outside the punishable area and check now and again for when someone is coming in. The same for survivors as they could gang up and just stand outside it and bait the killer especially at end game like they can already do now and the killer gets punished .

While camping isn’t something that should be encouraged flat out it does have a place in the game at certain times. This is why it’s always better to give killers a reason to leave which is beneficial rather than punish for it. Perks like BBQ, POP etc all work in such a way that they make killers want to leave the hook.

Nothing will stop some camping or tunneling as the mindset of the player is what dictates the strats. Some just want to kill and don’t care about pips or points.

"Nothing will stop some camping or tunneling as the mindset of the player is what dictates the strats. Some just want to kill and don’t care about pips or points."

Exactly, that is my point, the only way to actually stop it is making it bannable, but for the reasons you mentioned and we all know this is not a viable option, hence it cannot be policed, hence its just now deemed a "valid strat", the devs cannot do anything about it even though its not desired gameplay. The devs fully realize this and should be extremely grateful honestly for those killers that dont deploy these ermm tactics as that would completely kill the game and thus their job.

    @Fibijean said:

As I told you in that comment you quoted, I'm busy and exhausted and didn't really want to have a debate about this since I wasn't the one who brought up the topic to begin with, but by publicly tagging me in the thread you've effectively forced me into a position where I have to respond to 'save face'. So, thanks for that.

Off the top of my head, if they really wanted to make camping totally unrewarding, they could make the progress bar freeze altogether if the killer is within a certain radius. To discourage tunnelling, they could make Borrowed Time basekit for survivors, or make survivors immune to being downed if they were the one most recently unhooked. Of course, both of those changes would be absurd, but then, so is the idea that camping and tunnelling should be removed from the game. I'll admit I'm not particularly invested in thinking them through to find solutions to all their abusable kinks because I don't believe these are changes that need to be made to the game to begin with.

Once again, all I claimed was that I'm fairly certain the reason why camping and tunnelling remain in the game is not one of ineptitude but unwillingness on the part of the developers. I also said that if they wanted to remove them, I'm sure they could fairly easily find a way to do so, but that doesn't seem to be where they're directing their resources.

(Since you mention it, though, I wouldn't mind seeing some evidence that the devs (a) "tried things regarding camping which were easily abused in some way and thus not put into the game at all", (b) tried to fix the Huntress "beachball" hatchets, failed completely and just reverted it back to its previous... broken state" and (c) (while we're at it) admitted at some stage that Huntress' hatchets were "broken".)

I guess you missed the last part of the original post?:

"Reply when you have time, work on your assignment first obviously."

I merely made it to have it out there and im not trying to put in a corner or publicaly shame you, you just made an extremely wild claim about what the devs have control over that I find just amazing. Im genuinely curious as to what this possibility is that the devs have to combat one of the most hated things in this game but simply dont because they genuinely believe its a fine way to play their game, instead of my claim that they just cant police it.

Heck you even used the word "easily" for it when for all intends and purposes as far as I can see it would be an extremely complex thing and seeing how the devs dont even seem to adress the most simple things I would find it just mindblowing, so yeah genuininly interested.

But now reading your post, your "easily fixing it solutions" are by your own admitance just rediculously gamebreaking, and the only reason you feel its ok to bring up such broken ideas is because you yourself feel camping and tunneling is a fine way to play the game....fantastic logic I must say, but atleast expected, dissapointing but expected.

Why are you fairly certain the reasons are not ineptitude?

    As for your questions:

    a. cant say exactly where to find it but this was from a while back, something regarding proximity to the hook would indeed stop the timer but then survivors would walk in and out of that radius which was somehow abusing it. you would have to dive a bit deeper.

b and c. this was literally a dev post and/or dev stream:

  • Welcome to the forums man, enjoy your stay.

As for your complaint, I would advice you to start playing those killers, and play them all the way to rank ermm lets say 5, by then you should know their shortcommings and then you can use that against them when you play your survivor matches.

Truly the only sorta problematic killer is the Nurse, (maybe Hag), she is the only one that in the hands of a good player has little of a counter, and she is not even one of the insta-down killers.

(also bubba is considered by many to be bottom tier, just an fyi)

It's not relevant to my post because I already explained that the killers I was referring to didn't need to use such tactics to win, at least not to my recollection. I'm refusing to elaborate on what I think the devs could do to prevent camping or tunnelling out of respect for the OP (and for the forum rules), since it has very little to do with the original topic, and explaining it to you would constitute discussing it. If you like, I'll mention it to the person I'm thinking of the next time I get a chance to speak to him, but I'd rather not tag him here since he already gets hundreds of mentions on the forums and, again, it's off-topic for the thread anyway.

oh dear...your dev source is peanuts isnt it.....

And wait, its YOUR idea now? I thought you said the devs already could do something about it....

"I'm confident I know of at least one dev who would tell you that's not the reason those strategies exist. It would be very easy to come up with ways to punish camping and tunnelling beyond usefulness if that were something they were interested in doing."

So do the devs have or not have a means to fix it? and sure tag this "one dev" about this, heck should I just make a topic directly asking you about what the devs could do about tunneling/camping so as to not hijack OP's thread?

  • If you dont mess up, you dont need Dead Hard to carry you, git gut and stop using it yo

I'm confident I know of at least one dev who would tell you that's not the reason those strategies exist. It would be very easy to come up with ways to punish camping and tunnelling beyond usefulness if that were something they were interested in doing. But again, not relevant to the discussion in this case since it doesn't have any bearing on my original point.

We dont have to discuss it, just explain to me how this "very easy" change would work, I would love to know because even in a world were everything is possible, I cant see how it could possible work.

This game does not even have a proper definition of winning so yeah, enlighten me or call up that "one dev".

Also it does have bearing on your original post as you claim killers are not dependent on perks and can "Slay" using meme builds and im telling you they can only do so by either playing against absolute potatos which would prove nothing or by playing scummy / in a cheap manner that is not counterable unless you start playing very unaltruistic which is also not the intended way to play this game.

Then you essentially say there is no "playing scummy" as that tactic is valid as if it wasnt the devs would have patched it out.

At which point I say they wouldnt as they can't, they tried, failed, and now called it a valid strat, an admittance of defeat.

Then you claim they could easily do that so yeah, go ahead then.

Did I ever mention that my suggestion was perfect?

And even if it does not prevent tunneling, are you suggesting that people should just get over it?

I mean, your contribution to the topic is mostly subjective and have no follow ups to a better solution or suggestions.

    However,

If your point IS that people should just "git gud" or "suck it up", then I have no point in responding to such an idea...

Look, we are not your enemy man, its just that plenty of us been on this forum long enough to see MANY suggestions on MANY of the MANY problems this game has and we just know they tend to not work

Or heck, some are seemingly good ideas but they wont be implemented or even PTB tested cuz....well these devs ya know.....

If you made the topic about "hey guys, does anyone have an idea on how to stop tunneling" we would be having a different discussion, but you mentioned a very specific way of countering it and again, we are here to tell you that it wont.

And yes, it might seems sad, you might be still passionate about this, but sucking it up is really the best way of dealing with it.

If the killer camps or tunnels or uses OP add ons or brings an Ebony Mori, if that ruins the match for you (I know it does for me, to me its just clear the killer does not actually want to play a match) just run up and die asap, match over, minimal time wasted, on to the next match that is hopefully a better experience.

If everyone would do this then that would also HOPEFULLY change the way killers play as they dont have much of a match this way either.
