Stomp, obliterate, win very easily. That's how I'm defining it. I don't recall whether they camped or tunnelled, but since I don't remember thinking, "wow, they really had to play dirty to win there", my guess would be not. As for intended gameplay, if those strategies weren't intended to be in the game, they would have been patched out by now, but that's a whole other discussion, and not one relevant to this point as it turns out.

not really as you cant patch it out, thats the only reason, its pointless to "outlaw" something you cannot police so the devs have named it a legit strat.

They have tried in the past and failed so yeah....

A Clown would have to stay closeby to tunnel and camp, ez to patch for as its easily detectable by range, now try that on Spirit / Billy / Nurse / Hag / Demogorgon / Freddy or any other killer with high mobility, they are just back there in no time, ez avoiding the tunnel/camp penalty.

  • Its almost as if nobody is happy with the matchmaking and how little rank matters....

and yet survivors have perks like their meta which are completely game changing and far more impactful then many perks a killer could bring.

Obviously there is a range of good and bad perks for both sides, but if you really want to compare meta survivor perks to non meta killer perks, to push your narrative by all means go ahead.

As for your comment on sloppy butcher and adrenaline. Well if you really think sloppy butcher is hard countered by adrenaline, you are using both those perks incorrectly.

Sloppy is reasonable to be called meta.... honestly I have said before that killers dont really have a meta but sloppy is used by a LOT of killers for the right reasons.

and to push my narrative? go head then, name me some "meta killer perks" that have an impact on the game like DS / BT / Adren / Unbreak / DH have.

  • @Nazeef13 said:

What people here are incorrectly attributing as survivor being too easy without perks is not a result of survivors being too powerful.

In reality, killers being perk and add-on dependent, while survivors aren't are sign that killers perks and add-ons are at least 4x as powerful as survivor perks and add-ons, and this is rightfully so.

That is the balance of the game I'm a 4 v 1. If survivor perks were individually powerful enough to be game changing, survivors would be very broken. An entire survivor build should be about as impactful as 1 killer perk, so it's not a huge surprise that one can survive easily without perks, as a killer should be similarly able to still kill with only 3 perks equipped.

and yet survivors have perks like their meta which are completely game changing and far more impactful then many perks a killer could bring.

Slobby Butcher so healing takes longer? ez adrenaline, bye bye

    @Fibijean said:

I've seen really good killers slay with total meme builds. I don't think that killers are anywhere near as perk-dependent as many people seem to believe. Good perks help, sure, and buying the DLCs is an easy way to get them, but I wouldn't call that pay-to-win (especially since you technically don't need to pay for any of those perks if you get lucky with the Shrine).

you really have to define "Slay" better there as sure, if a killer just returns to the hook the entire time they will do well even without perks....not really the intended gameplay though now is it?

And honestly if they play as is intended they have to be facing absolute potatos to be able to do well without certain perks, a survivor can easily loop 2 or 3 times around a single pallet, and get to the next in which time gens just get done, not much you can do about that as killer unless you can quickly reach it with Pop or so but that in this scenario, is not something they are running so yeah....define slay.

  • Survivors have more freedom because playing survivor is way easier, I have been playing 4man SWF perkless for the last week at rank 4 to 1 and we do better the fine, 3 man escape mostly.

I would also like to say that imo there is no real meta for killers, it kinda depends on the killer (because unlike survivors they are actually different) and the playstyle, there is no real meta for all killers.

But free powerful perks on the killer side include, Agitation, Enduring, Nurse's Calling, Bitter Murmur, NoeD, Slobby Butcher and, in my opinion, Spies from the Shadows, Whispers and Huntress Lullaby.

Running a killer will a combination of those free perks will give you plenty of power really, as long as you are not terrible at playing killer obviously.

  • IIRC they changed a slowed down flick to a non slowed down flick but with a limited range/arc

  • well first of all "the day NOED became use on killer is the day the dev destroy ruin" is not an opinion.

secondly, yeah NoeD is a good slow down perk, which was always a valid choice but is now a bit more prominent after the obvious choice was changed (Though ruin is arguable more powerful today then it was)

You do realize steering addons just change hillbilly power? Make him enjoyable to play its not like charge up addons that make it easier to use his power.

So i dont see how am i skewing the fight in my favour.

why is he more enjoyable to play?

They dont change his power, they add bonus mobility, a change would be "he can make tighter turns but it takes longer to rev up the chainsaw", thats a change, give and take.

These add ons just buff it, augment it, but yeah why is it more enjoyable?

If the reason is that now you can make hits you otherwise could not do and its enjoyable because you are now actually hitting survivors then yeah, you just skewed the game in your favor, you should have missed but you did not because these add ons granted you that power.

  • @Kolossoni said:

Wow, all these "want no scratch marks? don't run!" suggestions...

That's so rudimentary and unlettered I can't fathom how to respond to such logic.

The only reason why I bring this up is because killers take the upper hand by (9 times out of 10) chasing the once hooked person again instead of something else, and scratch marks are babying them to get another secured kill.

What's the point in getting rescued if the enemy gets full awareness of your whereabouts within seconds of being rescued?

And to the analogy above, you are basically saying "they'll do it anyway whether you like it or not so don't do something about and just pray for a better game."

Lol. I mean, yes. I could turn the other cheek and spit on the ground to a crappy match.

But that doesn't make the next game have any higher chances of being better than the previous one and in most cases, it's not.

Exploitation in DBD is at all time high and praying for a better game next match is not the most practical solution. I hope you get that.

Alright calm down there, like I said in my first post:

"Again I dont want to be all negative or whatever, all im trying to say as that you seem to think this will improve the game somehow, but it wont."

Your imply that the difference between a killer tunneling or not, relies on scratchmarks and Im here to tell you that sadly, it does not.

An idea against tunneling, that would be way out there but follow me here, is that as soon as someone is hooked twice in a row in a short period of time, the hatch opens and all survivors still in the game are shown its aura an can jump in and would get x2 points and the tunneled player would get 8x points, while the killer gets :2 points.

Now that idea is outrages, rediculous, wont ever happen for a number of reasons but that is just about the only thing that could be done to stop tunneling outright.

Tunneling, returning to the hook, camping, are all cheap strategies, cheap because it requires very little effort and is massively rewarding depending on your own set goals....

And there is that other problem again, goals.

Players play this game not as intended because they have their own goals and those goals interfere with what others would perceive as an enjoyable game, plenty killers dont give 2 cents about bloodpoints or rank, all the want to do is be scum (for whatever probably sad reason) and kill some players, feel in control.

On the other side, if a survivor really does not care for doing gens they will just follow the killer along, this can cost the "team" the entire match but to that player that is of no consequence.

You cannot make players in this game play the game like you want them to play it, its far to open for interpretation for that, the only reason camping is now called a "legit strat" is purely because the devs cannot police it, they cannot enforce any rules on it, its basically an admittance of defeat, they dont want you to play like this but they cant stop you from doing so.

    Same for tunneling.

Phew that was a long piece of text, again I dont want to be negative but its the sad truth about this game, but if you think you have actual solutions feel free to post those, but not leaving scratchmarks by default wont do it, though im not against it myself so if they implement it you wont hear me complain.

I see sabo more often now and sabo squad are worst then ever and hangman trick was really good on the ptb but they nerf it for some reason and the nerf make it useless

The amount of sabo'ing players I have encountered since the rework I can count on 1 hand, no exaggeration.

  • nobody sabo'd before, nobody sabo's now

nobody used hangman's trick before, nobody uses it now

(For BHVR....) a LOT of work, accomplishing exactly nothing, good stuff

  • Just tunnel all match and you wont be surprised by DS, everyone will be happy :D

"But if the survivor side is on par in terms of sweatyness, bringing the best meta perks as well as items to help them even more, then yeah its not going to be a 4k for any killer".

Isnt rank 1 supposed to be like that?

I dont have much time to play like you to test every killer and to handicap myself on purpose(playing addonless and giving survivors more chances than they already have) .Sorry.

Also up for debate, I think better players should be meassured in skill rather then sweatyness myself.

Having to rely on all the help you can get to win is not the hallmark of a good player, if that were the case cheaters would be the best players ever.

Also not the time? you are playing a game, you have nothing but time otherwise you would not be playing games....

And I dont test anything, I just dont use add ons on any killer, thats just how I play

  • @Kolossoni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1229017#Comment_1229017

    1) Well, like I stated: "...it also shouldn't be a stupid perk to do so anyway."

    2) Tunneling is to solely focus on one specific survivor and scratch marks after hooks condones that very action so what's the point in keeping that stupid mechanic?

Scratch marks are an essential part of the game to separate stealth and speed.

You did not go against anything we stated so far, if we make this, lets say after unhook you dont leave scratch marks for 20 seconds by default, that wont help against killers who actually tunnel, they will be back as soon as you are unhooked and you can run around without leaving scratchmarks all you want, if they can see you its rather pointless.

If a killer wants to tunnel, that is basically a non match, I Just wish survivors would just recognise this behavior sooner and just run up and die on the hook and not reward this match and further by even trying, its a cheap bs tactic so leave and hope the next match will be an actual match.

  • I dont know how many times to tell you this, this is nothing new, Im suprised anyone cares about this especially otz.

    everyone knows this.

If a killer wants to camp and has noed in the back pocket, then the match is not a match, nobody will get points from it.

If a killer wants to AFK in the basement, then the match is not a match, nobody will get points from it.

if survivors run up to the killer and make themselves die on the hook instantly, then the match is not a match, nobody will get points from it.

The reason its mostly a non-issue is that these matches arnt common enough, if all matches were like this the game would just die, but they arnt so it does not matter.

Frankly plenty of other things ruin a match straight up, Ebony Mori, Keys (potentially), many add ons.

Again the reason its not a problem is because its rare enough that people still bother playing the game.

  • Here is the thing though, anything that requires survivors to run other perks then the meta is a good thing for killers.

But you are correct that this wont help much, it will just mean survivors aware of this will do separate gens which is the most efficient way of gen-rushing anyway.

But as was mentioned, this is not to stop gen-rushing perse, its just to make it so that the killer has a chance to reach the otherside of hte map before a gen is done and honestly there is a big difference between going to gen, being about 20 meters out, having it pop with the survivors running everywhere, and walking up to survivors committing to finishing the gen, as that can give you a hit or two in which can make all the difference.

  • as you said, there is a perk for this so use that...

Apart from it, ok, lets say you are a killer hellbent on tunneling and this suggested change will come through.

How exactly will that stop anything? if the killer is far enough away that you can get away to some safe place to heal...then that pretty much could have been done while leaving scratch marks as well.

(heck there is another perk for that, Lightweight)

If the killer really wants to tunnel, they stay close enough that as soon as the survivor is unhooked, they will be back there, and not leaving scratch marks wont help against that.

Again I dont want to be all negative or whatever, all im trying to say as that you seem to think this will improve the game somehow, but it wont.

  • well done, original and well balanced in terms of strengths and weaknesses.

Breaking totems isn't the counter to NOED, also they weren't asking how to counter NOED. They were suggesting a change to the perk to make it feel more fair and interactive. Actual criticism would probably be appreciated, OP gets enough hate as is.

It is THE counter to NoeD....no totems = no NoeD.

NoeD is a slow down perk, you take the risk by not doing totems, if you do play it save and do totems, that gives the killer some time for an extra hook or 2, that is the point.

  • @gatsby said:

No ED's speed boost activates once the second to last generator is completed and the totem starts to glow. The exposed status doesn't activate until the last generator is complete.

That way there are subtle telltales that No ED is in play. In mid/low ranks, Survivors might not notice and still get punished, but the counterplay will exist so they can only blame themselves. In high ranks, No ED will become a late game slowdown because instead of rushing the last gen the game turns into a totem hunt, which buys the Killer time to take more chases and possibly get more Pops etc.

soooo you want to negate the entire function of it and just have it taken out as soon as the match starts so people can just gen rush without a care in the world.... yeah ok

  • I mean, I play Oni, currently finishing up Demogorgon but I did Oni just before it

  • indeed you dont, ranking up is too easy, but thats not the point, its people just making mistakes everywhere but its of no consequence because of the perks

  • Survivors do need to get good, way too many just get carried by the meta so hard

  • ebony mori, killer immediatly returning to hook upon unhook, fun times

  • @SkylarPup said:

I don’t think it’s necessary to hide people names in end game but what they should do is hide it in game lobby and during the match from the killer so the killer won’t check if they are twitch streaming to watch the game while it’s being played. Once the match ends you can show the usernames.

THat is what I meant, hide names in the lobby but show in the endgame screen and show if people were SWF in the endgame screen.

Im sure you're smart enough to deduce what i mean by "Boring" seeing as every killer engages chases in their own way. Our definitions also part to different paths since i see boring as "Not Interesting" or "Monotonous".

Still you describe it yourself as:

"not because im terrible but because i feel like i have to sweat to be decent. I just dont have fun whenever i pick her up."

You have to sweat to be decent, you have to work hard for that, how can you ever describe that as monotonous or not interesting, dont we play games for the challenge? would those words not better be suited to a killer that requires nothing of you?

  • Its almost like these forums are basically just a joke and nothing seems to come from them.....

Idk man but its sad to be on these forums a decent amount of time and see people come up with the same topics and same suggestions over and over and over again and nothing ever happens.

It reminds me a bit of Warframe, there is a frame in there called Limbo, now Limbo is a tough nut, nobody likes to play him or likes to play with players playing him.

On of the devs remarked on a devstream that the amount of complaints about Limbo had died down over the last year so she gathered from that that people must have learned how to play limbo and not mind him so much.....

Yeah OR....ORRR...people got tired of making thread after thread about it with nothing ever happening, seemed like a rather pointless endevor at that point.

Now im not saying the DBD devs do nothing but they dont do even 20% of what they should be doing imo. compared to the warframe devs its absolute night and day.

  • @cipherbay_ said:

    What do you guys think?

IMO The Nurse has been pretty boring to play as, not because im terrible but because i feel like i have to sweat to be decent. I just dont have fun whenever i pick her up.

Bit of a weird use of the word "boring" imo.

Boring means not engaging, nothing to provide stimulus.

For me its Freddy, he is just so freaking cheap, idk what the devs were thinking but its like they had as set of ideas for this ... sadly... completely change/overhaul, and they just gave him all of them.

  • yeah why have variation right? lets make it all the same....

there would be some basis to your argument if the game was stable. While it's not as glitchy as some people say it is, There are a lot of mechanical problems with the game.

Yes. if you mention an issue it's more likely to be solved. This isn't the first time either.

you crashed.....thats an issue on your end....you left the game against the rules, intentional or not, you get a dc penalty for that.

  • how many threads have to be made about this?

Oh wait, another new account, welcome to the forums, dont worry about it, they are working on it.

  • this should just be an option for players at this time, I can imagine some people prefering it as is and not be a toggle, like in shooters I prefere crouching as a hold and not a toggle.

But yeah with the mobile version having it and doing totems just be a toggle, why not add that as an option for PC users?

  • @Reborn2020 said:

So you admit that if killer plays with favourite addons and good build he will get 4 kills almost everytime on rank1?

You dont offend me when you calling me a noob. Im not that kind of a guy like the guy above :D.

entirely depends, we agreed many posts ago that many add-ons skew the game way too much.

Hence when I face an irridecent head huntress I just run up and die on the hook because that is not in any way going to be an interesting game, its going to have no value whatsoever.

That said, if you play billy you have a very balanced killer, add add-ons and that balance quickly shifts to just being OP.

Try that with other killers less highly ranked and you wont have as ez a time, so its not some blank statement one can make.

Apart from that, it also depends how try-hard you set yourself up at the start of the match, im a more relaxed player myself but if you set yourself up to sweat like a maniac for the 4k's well then unless the survivor team is as try hard as you are, and those are not that common, then yeah you will 4k.

Likewise plenty of killers will want to have some fun so for example wont return to the hook as soon as or just before someone is unhooked, as that is just cheap.

But if the survivor side is on par in terms of sweatyness, bringing the best meta perks as well as items to help them even more, then yeah its not going to be a 4k for any killer (apart from maybe a slugging Nurse).

But again, its rare to come across that mostly because the odds of that are so low, you are one player, but they are 4. so you need to find a 4man SWF team that is as hellbent on escaping as you are on 4king and then see what results come from multiple matches of that before you can say anything about it.

  • I mean I would not be against it, but...its a indicator early on in the game if NoeD is even in play.

The entire point of NoeD, more then anything, is to be a slowdown perk.

If survivors can see the exit gates are close together, ez, no need to cleanse totems, GEN RUSH

You said: dont run those settings then the game will be harder for you or dont run those addons. And i replied: i guess i could also let survivors to get away if i want the game to be harder for me. I didnt say "i might as well just let survivors to get away".

Your solution was kind of : "If you feel like the game is easy for you just dont try to win".

    Title of the thread:

Dear developers.Tired of constant winning(4 kills) as a killer. Rank 1.

You are tired of constant 4k-ing, yet you still chose to do everything in your power, give yourself every advantage to do so, and then you complain?

That just makes no sense, you should realize you are skewing the fight in your favor all the time, you should be surprised if you did not get a 4k....

Its like saying you are tired of constantly getting atleast 1k and your only mode of playing is being a facecamping leatherface....solution? dont be a facecamping leatherface.

Your solution? stop being such a (imo no skill, no offense though, that is just my view on add ons) try-hard and play a more fair and balanced match for once.

Try to win still, but under less skewed/favorable conditions for yourself.

Then when you actually get good at the game, so good you can consistantly 4k with even an add-on-less and mediocre perks using clown or so, then you can make threads like this, otherwise you are just being silly and even you must realize this.

(Although even then you are being silly because the devs wont change the balance of the game based on one player, better in that case to move on to a game that asks more of you, maybe Xcom on impossible).

  • @Reborn2020 said:

Well i could also intentionally let survivors to get away then.

If you are so reliant on add-ons and whatever those graphics settings are about that you equate not running them to simply letting survivors get away..then well yikez.... and I guess this game is not that easy for you then anyway so this entire thread is kinda silly (if it wasnt already).

Read part 2, Im not saying we cant EVENTUALLY show SWF beforehand but for now, lets just see it afterwards so you can take that into account when reflecting.

I mean Franklin's and Lightborn are perks created for being used only as a response to load out of the opposing team.

Well yeah but that is for balance reasons, the survivors bring items on top of their perks, seeing them gives the killer some means of countering that.

That is different from specifically playing in a try hard manner jsut because you recognise some survivors.

I'm on the fence about this.

On one hand, it would be great to make sure certain people aren't tunneled (such as Twitch streamers), and it would be great for killers to chill whether or not a group of people are SWF or not.

On the other hand... I just honestly like facing the same groups of people and knowing I faced them again in a match. I don't tunnel or bring a mori for them, I just like facing against the same player so I can test my skill against them again. Though I will admit I tend to play extra tryhard because I want to test my mettle against these folks. And usually we end with some nice chats in the endgame chat. Maybe my experience is an exception, but I do know a lot of people in Western Australia that tend to join my lobbies every once in a while. And I'd like to know they are there.

well technically that means you adjust your playstyle based on who you are facing, which is not I think the idea of this game hence so much stuff is hidden already.

Play hard against everyone you see! (but not unfairly so obviously)
