I'd like the PTB Hangman's back

Before the Deathslinger PTB, Hangman's was useless. During it, the perk was extremely useful and used quite a bit. After, when we were given the finalized version, nobody plays it. Is a decent information perk too much to ask for? Yeah, we have Discordance and Surveillance and stuff, but that isn't the issue. The issue is WHY the PTB version of Hangman's never made it through? Was it "too powerful"?

That's my 2 cents on another good perk made useless by its 'rework'.

  • nah man, we hate variation, pls dont make any more perks even remotely viable

  • Yes, they would like us to use the same 10 perks on either side, if a perk become remotely good then it’s back to the trash can it goes

  • What was PTB Hangman's Trick again?

I don't remember the exact stats but it was that when carrying a survivor, you'd see all other survivors' auras. You know, as an alternative to BBQ & Chili. Now, you see other survivors' auras within 4 meters of yourself while carrying a survivor. That's a downgrade beyond parody.

  • Ptb Hangman's trick was a 11/10 perk. This useless dead perk was revived and turned into an amazing one. I honestly expected a nerf... but instead they just killed it again.

2/4/6meters ^^ on ptb (back in jan) it was 16m, but yeah maybe a little buff would be great :)

16m is a bit too much, I think the min hook distance is like 16m each, if no one dropped an offering? Not sure

It was perfect as it was in the PTB, not overpowered. 11/10? Are you kidding? It's just information! It doesn't even affect survivors' gameplay! Is BBQ an 11/10 perk then?

  • To be honest it was a very problematic perk in the PTB as it was clearly superior to any other aura reading perk. 16 meters from any hook basically gave you map wide wall hacks on every survivors location for the entire carrying duration. The perk in that state wouldn't shake up the meta, it would have been the new one.

However, I think they went too far with the nerfing of the perk. What I would have done is to keep the 16 meters radius, but only apply it to the few hooks closest to you. That way it can be used to punish survivors who hide around the hook and be a useful info perk of its own, while not overshadowing the other aura reading perks.

So Its not ok for killers to have a strong tracking perk but survivors can get on swf and know where the killer is at all times know where the totems are know where the traps are know how many totems are done hypocrisy

  • Of course it was extremely useful, it gave map-wide aura reading on all survivors every time you picked someone up. "Decent" is a huge understatement. If we disregard the bloodpoint bonus on the latter, it was a much better perk than BBQ. I'm honestly shocked that it even made it to a public build in that state.

The intention of Hangman's Trick was always to be a counter to sabotage, similarly to how Mad Grit is intended as a counter to bodyblocking. It's okay for some perks to be niche. Not all perks need to compete with the meta in order to work as an addition to the game. The popular mentality of "If it's not meta, it's useless" is, ironically, exactly the attitude that makes the DBD meta so immovable and uncontested to begin with.

I think it was 12m at one point.

It is okay for killers to have strong tracking perks. BBQ, nurses, Discordance and various other perks are great for tracking survivors. However Hangman's Trick did all of the above perks jobs better. This perk was a serious power creep and unhealthy for the games balance so it needed to be changed, although not to the extent that it was.

Also we are not talking about SWF here so I don't know why you needed to bring that up. Using whataboutism does not make your argument stronger nor convinces other people that your argument is right.

Swf Is free every info perk on crack its not whaaboutism its hypocrisy

Pretty ironic you say that, because having a perk as good as PTB hangman's trick would actually reduce "variation" as you put it

Perhaps it was too strong in the PTB. However, it should have been balanced. Not completely torpedoed and tossed in the trash can.

  • A good solution would have been while you are carrying someone aura's are shown in your terror radius

Helps against sabotage without exposing survivors on the other side of the map

And on the plus side if it was popular enough would stop those survivors rushing in and unhooking you 5 seconds after you got hooked

Would have had neat synergy with agitation too

It allowed you to essentially see everyone on the entire map while you had someone on your shoulders. And you're saying that's not OP? The others are right. It was OP and then instead of making it viable, they just shot it in the head. It's a useless perk now, again.

Why would you want survivors to stop unhooking within 5 seconds of someone being hooked? That's great. You should WANT that.. it means they sat there doing nothing. Then they just made it easy for you to down them both.

Agreed. It should of had its original range but only limited to the few closest hooks to you. That way is still retains its purpose while not giving free map wide aura reading.

Because I am also one of those survivors that get downed instantly after getting unhooked because a teammate couldn't wait for the killer to walk away

  • It wasn't just useful, it was downright broken, but they massively overnerfed it's range. It would've been fine at 10 metres. 6 metres is pathetic.

Well thats the thing, nobody....well nobody who's worth a damn, wants anything OP in the game, its just cheap and not fun, we want a challenge.

But we would also like the perk....to do something, something that makes it worth using, and right now there is just so little reason to use 90% of the perks in this game, its rediculous
