  • This post just demonstrates that someone will always say a killer is somehow OP. The twins are quite likely one of the weakest as worst at the moment. The locker bug is the only saving Grace right now.

  • Same way you beat every killer in this game; spend your 110 seconds and do 5 gens. Seriously, survivors as a team can win every game if they just did gens. And you counter PH by holding W and doing a fake yourself. Just watch high rank survivors. You can dodge his attack.

Not to complain about slugging, I understand it can be needed sometimes as killer, but even as a killer main stuff like this is just so unnecessary and rude. I just played a round as survivor, didn't do anything toxic except be good at running away. No items brought into the round, no DS, no DH, nothing intense for perks. And then I'm the last survivor found and I get downed during EGC and slugged until I bleed out while the killer just stands on me the whole time. There were hooks nearby. There was no need to slug, I never teabagged or anything.

I thought maybe a nice counter to something so toxic and rude would be a soul guard-like effect after you reach less than 25% of your bleedout timer.

I understand slugging can be useful, but stuff like this just needs to stop.

What would y'all think? After you reach 25% bleedout timer, you can fully recover and gain an endurance status for 8 seconds after recovering.

Even as a diehard killer main, I don't see any issues with this because I never slug anybody past 75% bleedout.

It’s telling you didn’t suggest a “give up” option but rather yet another second chance

That’s... the... point. He’s good at jumping pallet looping. Oh noooo...

It's no ######### fun to play against consoles that work a lot smoother then a 25 fps game or wait 40 minutes for 1 match. So I can just say thanks for ruining a 60€ game.

My SO played DBD on Switch all last night. Go into your settings and turn off Cross Play.

As well as changing perks for both sides.

Whenever I play as survivor, whether soloQ or with friends (not a full group) I always feel growing aversion whenever a random survivor switches last second from an survivor they obviously haven't leveled much yet (if at all) to an obvious p3 50 nea or laurie (it's always nea or laurie, lbr), usually with a flashlight.

Especially when you want to bring back MMR proper and working, this does need to stop:

No more character changes (aside from offerings and outfits, maybe add-ons) of the characters and their perks once you enter a lobby for either side.

The lock was not out of some punishment. It was because killers have an MMR per killer. Survivors do not. That is the reason for the lock.

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

The emblem system is meaningless with mmr. The devs literally stated that they're gonna leave ranks just for bragging rights.

You can happily stop caring about pips and their inconsistencies.

That totally sounds like what humans will do... not care about the ranks. That didn’t back fire or anything when MMR was released....

Almost 100% of my matches have one or more of NOED, Ruin and Pop Goes the Weasel in them lol. Sloppy Butcher seems to have made a comeback as well

Wow.. your games against killers include the meta perks? My goodness. How horrible. The game is impossible to play as killer without Pop, Ruin or Corrupt.

  • @_Trapper said:

I mostly play with randoms and I'm tired of facing the spirit. I got nothing against the killer but she's way to good for the little bit of required skill to use her. Its impossible to do gens or unhook other survivors without her immediately downing the survivor again. And nearly every game she's the killer! She literally takes the game hostage it's so irritating. Looping against her is useless since she keeps teleporting and since I am a purple rank the killer usually knows how to counter jukes and 360s. So if she keeps teleporting from the gens to the hook and tunnelling survivors there's not a lot u can do to beat her. She's like an easy to use nurse but not that good. It's just easy for anyone to use her and win. She needs some kind of nerf in my opinion. She's the only low skill required killer that gives me a hard time beating her. If you don't want to nerf her maybe bring old pallets back to the game??

If you think she’s easy to use please post your journey from Rank 20 to Rank 1 as killer using only Spirit. I suspect it’ll teach you a few things.

Self Care is actually more efficient. Heal time is the same: 2 Survivors healing for 16 seconds is the same as one for 32 seconds with regard to doing generators. But there's no time spent finding each other. Self Care's performance with regard to Survivor outcomes is quite good, actually.

It's not always the right play to spend 32 sec to heal, but it's not always the wrong play, either.

I think I should put this response on a keyboard macro. :D

I’m quite surprised a Dev would say this. Well no not really considering you all don’t understand the logistics of your own game.

While the time spent per second is the same, the opportunity cost is drastically different. And this entire game is about opportunity costs.

It is far better to do gens until someone else heals you and then go for a save then it is for two injured people to be self caring, doing no gens and no one go for the save. This game isn’t about a single survivor. It feels awkward to have to explain this to a dev, but then again you all are the ones who thought insta blinds were fine until someone taught you all a lesson.

There’s very little situations where self care is useful. The one obvious situation is where two are dead and one is on the hook and you need to heal before a rescue. Congrats. Amazing use of a perk slot.

Self caring is one of the worst possible uses of time. If this game didn’t have a time limit, I.e. gen time vs hook pressure then you’d be right. But it does. And you are not correct.

I feel like I should put this on a macro.

Edit: if you all continue to want to throw “stats” around and say things like “from what we see” then have the courage and the maturity of release all of the data for this game. It doesn’t take much to sit there and make claims that no one else can possibly debate because you all won’t release access to the raw stats.

For example: What are the chances a SC player it on a SWF team? And then if that chance is above the norm could that perhaps be responsible for you not seeing their performance as being worst? Because solo queue players have an entirely different perspective on SC players. The ones that never figure out the killer has nurses and sit there to self care in front of the killer as a Rank 1. Or the ones that let you die on hook because they wanted to self care first. Because you know, when there’s only 30 seconds left on your hook self care has the same efficiency as two people healing... /s.

    Hey all

I am a 50/50 killer/survivor player and recently made Decisive Strike teachable. When I saw Unbreakable I was like "hey this is a good combo". But when I looked it up online, it seemed many people see it as a "toxic sweaty tryhard" build on survivors.

Is it really considered toxic or sweaty? I can't even loop properly lol.

Why exactly do you care what others think?

I wouldn't support any system that penalizes you for playing with your friends, especially when that would affect the rank 5 showing his two rank 20 buddies the game just as much as it would affect those elusive god-tier SWFs. I think the best way to handle SWF is to buff solo queue. I would support heavily nerfing or removing Moris, though.

Elusive? You clearly don’t watch top tier killers play this game. You can find them every other game watching Otz try to get his 50 game win streaks. Teams that complete 5 gens 3 minutes into the game. And that’s against a 2500hr killer.

same happens to many of the other really good killers that stream. Whatever rhetoric you want to use against these streamers, it doesn’t change the fact that it is mechanically impossible to win against these teams.

  • @PlagueVomit101 said:

Survivors get one DS and then that’s it. Killers have incredibly strong perks as well. Either take the DS or slug them and move on.

All it takes is to look at Tru’s, Otz and Umbras games when they go against the good survivors teams to realize its mechanically impossible for them to win these games as killer.

Perhaps it’s reasonable to say not all games are like this. But it’s not reasonable to argue that it’s not broken.

DS and Unbreakable allow these teams to be mechanically impossible to win against.

I have always been against the use of 2+ slowdowns such as Corrupt/Ruin Pop. I find this combo to be overkill especially in public matches. At the top % of games I would understand killers having the need to use it but most games and killers does not. Using these perk combos also encourages bad play because killers can rely on their perks to win games.

Just saying I am a killer main who does not use slowdowns. I use tracking/chase perks and rely on slugging for pressure.

“Because they can rely on their perks to win...” what did I just read. Your perks are supposed to be relied on to win. That’s their point.

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

    Nurse-Midwich

2 survivors die, perkless, very weak. Through the whole match I only find a good kate. 1 gen left

Slug Kate 1 time. nothing for 1 minute. Then she gets picked up, then gets away somehow, and so I go to protect gens. Nothing, all regressed.

Slug her another time. Nothing for 2+ minutes straight, meanwhile I try to find the closed hatch but i can't, until she's near to bleed out.

At that point I didn't want her to die and the other survivor who plays super safe doing nothing getting the hatch. So i pick her up, let her wiggle out, and she goes straight to a Zarina hiding a the locker near the hatch. I Down her, hook her, joke with kate in the meanwhile, I give her the hatch as a reward for being good. Then Zarina reports me, but the match theorically was already won for me, so is this bannable? Because Kate dying or bleeding out would have meant 3 kills total, which is a still a win for me.

Edit: a win following Dbd's win condition, indicated in the game tutorials, which is sacrificing survivors to the entity or killing them

dude. This is not the stuff they ban for. Sandbagging you’re teammates is not bannable. It’s not what they mean when they say cooperating with the killer. They’re talking about people syncing up ahead of time and making a go at being a team.

There are 2 options, the 2nd option is not guaranteed too work tho.

1.) Buff basically all the killers to match SWF's power. If the killer doesn't have mobility they would need to be buffed through another means

2.) Nerf the killers BUT add a second killer to the lobby, so basically a 4 v 2. Of course maps would need to be bigger too

I suspect you’re not constantly getting destroyed by 4-man SWF depip squads. You’re just a poor killer and need more experience.

It seems in this killer forum that a gen done in 60 secs it's a problem, but a surv going down in 10 sec it's ok. That's frustating for so many people

Except... if you went down in 10 seconds that’s 100% your fault where as a gen across the map against a 110 killer is objectively not as much their fault.

but killers shouldn’t be so concerned with a single gen being done in 60 seconds. This game isn’t about stopping all gens just as much as it’s not about 1v1. Survivors that DC when they go down somehow think they never should have gone down. This game is about wasting the killers time as the survivor. Ok you waisted 10 seconds. You get two more attempts.

inb4 I'm all in for strong killer perks but I, for one, feel like certain combos are straight OP at the moment.

also inb4 this is not against the Ruin change specifically, but rather how Undying combos will negatively affect the amount of fun in the game. As a survivor because it has the potential to be extremely oppressive. AS a killer, because it is completely rng based so essentially if they find Undying first you lost your build and possibly the game.

So basically the devs did a full 180 on the fun premise and made totems twice as hard to find. It's already a pain in the neck when these potato teammates can't find Ruin (or any other hex totem) once, and now you expect people to do it 2, maybe 3 times?? RIP solo queue, now on half of the games no gens will ever get done and when they do 3 people will be on death hook. Expect more DCs and people killing themselves once Devour Hope kicks in. More braindead NOED killers? Woohoo sounds like a blast. How is that fun in any way especially for solo players?

I honestly don't understand Behaviour's logic with these new perks. Yeah they're really strong, great but at what cost? Hopefully they'll balance things out once the new chapter goes live unless they want their player numbers to keep nosediving like they did this month.

You seem to be relying on these perks to win the game for you instead of using them to win. If they’re totem hunting and find undying it means that person wasn’t doing a gen. It also means you have a chance for HG to pop later while someone else is on the hook.

Theres too many people who don’t understand how this game works and expect their perk picks to just do all the work.

Losing undying doesn’t mean you lose the game. And if it does for you then i suggest you watch some better players and learn from them so you can get better.

This has been a long-standing thing for years. Using a controller and using a mouse & keyboard are completely different skill-sets.

I've been playing console for 18 years, and I've never seen so much prejudice towards console users. I mean, we're all gamers and we have enough sh*t to deal with externally. I don't see why we now need to divide OURSELVES further.

That’s sort of a silly argument considering PC players purposefully picked the PC in order NOT to have to use a controller... you act like this is some intrinsic thing people are born with: a controller attached to some people’s hands and a keyboard mouse on others.

So we have a ton of white characters because, obviously. But for POC characters we have Jane, Zarina, and Ace maybe. Three... we only have three POC characters. The same is with black characters... the three black characters are, claud, Tapp and Adam. Which is even worse because we only have ONE black woman which is the most hated group of people for some reason even though they’re the prettiest on the planet. And the Tapp is a licensed character so they didn’t even take the time to design the character and choose the race so practically there’s only two. And then theirs two Asians. Come on bhvr gives us more POC! And if you have a new chapter idea and survivor who is white just change them to black. It costs no effort whatsoever

You’re absolutely insane. And if BHVR starts catering to people like you they will destroy their company.

you do realize POC means “Person of Color” and that includes people that are Black. You don’t even know the Woke terminology you’re trying to use.

Claudette is “disliked” for very reasonable reasons. Her model is incredibly dark and difficult to see on some maps depending on her outfit. It has nothing to do with her being a black person. Players can wear non camouflage clothing and she’s fine.

Its really unfortunate when people like yourself discover a great game and start trying to impose insane Wokeness on it.

I've been on a mini DBD hiatus for the past few months, usually only playing when I get bored of other games or after enjoying one too many adult beverages... I'm playing (relatively) sober tonight, and for the first time since the MMR system released.

I have now played six killer games in a row where the survivors have only completed one gen or zero gens. When does the MMR catch up with the fact that I am slaughtering newbie survivors without even trying?

On the other side, every survivor game I've played has been carried by me, solely. I'm doing 2-3 gens by myself, and IF the rest of the gens pop, it's usually because I can run the killer for longer than the 15 seconds my teammates manage before they go down.

I understand that MMR is slow moving and needs time to function as intended, but we need to have some significant multipliers for the first week or so that this system is in place. Me going against people that have just picked up this game when I have 2k hours isn't only completely unfair to my opposition, but it simply isn't fun. I want to go against equal skilled opponents sooner rather than later.

Just more evidence that they set the default MMR for what’s essentially placement games way too high. You should have doubled the MMR of those survivors in only a couple of games.

This also means they’re not scaling the MMR points according to how bad you slaughter them. So it’s going to take dozens more games for your MMR to go above the range of defaults.

This topic is getting pretty tiring. On the one hand I understand the frustration since I'm also obviously still dealing with the issues going on, on the other hand people have no patience at all. I get that days is a long time on the internet, but I imagine it'll take several more for it to settle properly.

So let's just consider some of the factors:

    1. Dead by Daylight has millions of players. Many of those come back around patch time, and despite their previous skill levels or ranks, they will have 0 MMR games. Whether they're rank 1 or rank 20, they'll need to play their matches.
    2. People in the initial 10 games are likely matched based on how well they did in previous games, along with the MMRs of people in their previous games. If a bunch of potatoes keep going against each other and one potato player keeps winning over and over despite not going up against amazing opponents, the early MMR system will push them higher and higher until they hit a brick wall, at which point they'll go lower and lower until their wins start evening out a bit.
    3. While I'm not a developer or anything, I imagine with a game of this player size and how infrequently some people might play, we might be seeing these big fluctuations for a week or more, getting more and more steady as the days go on. Heck, I imagine it could even take a month to be fully settled, but I imagine long before that it'll feel closer to "right" than it does right now.
    4. Remember, there's 5 players in every match, not just you. Again, you playing your 10 games does not mean the other 4 have played their 10 games.

I should probably stop responding to these threads because I feel like it'll just be a meme of me coming into each MMR thread and "defending" it with some big wall of text, but the reality is I don't know how it's set up or how long it will actually take, or even if it's properly designed. What I do know is that either way, it needs a little more time before we can determine its quality, and it'll likely be tweaked and touched-up as the numbers come in on BHVR's side.

I've been in many games where MMR is introduced and the results the first few days are rarely enjoyed much by the players, but ultimately it's usually worth it because when it settles, it feels so much better than just random matchmaking or even DBD's rank system.

That’s not how this system works though. It auto sorts itself quite quickly. Within the first day of everyone playing is enough time to get a good feel. 6 games later it should be locked in.

My best guess is that they set the Placement Games MMR way too high. And they will stealth fix it if they haven’t already.

I have 100% depipped from killer DCing around a minute into a match.

No. Not true. The end game might say you De-pip but when you get back to the selection screen you’re back to where you were. That’s a bug in the end game. It didn’t actually depip you.

so i played my first game after this new update and the killer dc's as im about to exit and at the end of the match it showed everyone exited even tho non of us did. I didnt get to see if we got the points like if we exited without the dc but yeah I kindof like this.

it has always worked like this.

I have nothing left to say. Take care. If everyone wants to use insults, whether directly or indirectly, I won't bother with them.

If you felt I insulted you then I apologize. I was genuinely asking if I had called you a name and didn’t realize it. I’m sorry.

See. You resort to name calling. I'm facing rank 1's as Leatherface all day. Been playing only Leatherface since yesterday. I went from 20's to Rank 1's-3's which is my average. Seems to work for me? Probably because I've played the same killer for hours. If you want to talk and have a discussion, I'm all game. If you add insults, I stop wanting to talk to you. If you have to rely on insults because you don't like having a discussion then post an opinion and don't reply on another's opinion.

What name did I call you again?

MMR uses a point system. The better you do, the more points you get, the higher your skill. The more you die, you lose points. 5 games isn't enough to take thousands of players and put them together since some are different than others due to rng (maps, suicides, dc's) that can affect it. We start out with almost the same amount of MMR. It's why everyone is clumped together. There is no more dc penalties either so that affects MMR since it'll count that as a lost. If I DC 10 times as killer, I can almost guarantee that Ill get rank 20s.

I realize you think you understand how MMR works. And that’s cute. They’ve already been calculating MMR for months. Why are you ignoring this fact? They’ve already stated that the MMR they’ve been using internally to run “will they win or lose” is “pretty accurate.”

It didn’t work. It isn’t calculating it correctly. Not to mention MMR is self regulating. It will naturally sort players. Playing against a bunch of Brown Ranks game after game is enough to ensure that you’re 5th, 6th and 7th game shouldn’t be against Brown Ranks.

We have no idea how dying or killing effects MMR. So you saying “how much you die” lowers your MMR means you have no idea what you’re talking about. For all we know if a survivor stays alive a certain amount of time you get an MMR increase. We have no idea what counts as a + or - to MMR.

Best Guess is that they set the initial MMR for players they couldn’t pre-calculate an MMR for, too high.

You can ignore that they’ve said multiple times they’ve already pre-calculated anyone whose been playing for the past couple of months all you want. It just makes you look ignorant.

yeah i think you hit the nail with this one. people expect to have perfect matches when the majority of the players haven't even played enough matches to have an "accurate" mmr rating. it takes a lot of time to get a big pool of players that have the mmr they deserve

Except all evidence and BHVR testimony is completely against this narrative. They’ve already said anyone whose been playing won’t start at the default MMR. So they’ve effectively had their Placement Games. Furthermore, winning four games against Rank 19s is enough to ensure that your fifth game isn’t against a bunch of Rank 20s that have no idea what they’re doing.

Theyve clearly set the default MMR too high.

Nope. I'm currently getting together with a friend to do so, however. That friend, as it happens, reported that his trials felt fair all around, but I want to experience it for myself.

I will say, though, that my reaction would've been the same if someone had posted a score screen showing a high amount of BP and complaining that they didn't get a pip. The two systems are no longer connected.

Actually we don’t know how the pip system is connected to MMR. While it’s likely not directly connected the chances the calculations to calculate a pip and the calculations to calculate an increase in MMR or decrease, are quite similar. That’s the problem with everything being a secret even your MMR.

They claim some people don’t want to see their MMR but that seems like a lie.
