Making me feel bad playing survivor as well. Just got matched against a level 19 killer with one perk, looped this poor guy for 3 minutes straight without taking any damage while my teammates did all of the gens, and all 4 of us escaped. I see so many new players quitting because of MMR.
-
Something is off for sure. Devs said that MMR was tracking behind the scenes for the past few weeks, but even though I've been consistently ranking up the past few weeks, I'm now getting matched against brown rank survivors as killer and against brown rank killers as survivor. Only lost 1 match tonight, while playing one of my weakest killers against an obvious SWF.

Spirit is better. She is not only light years easier to play, but she is straight up better imo, especially when comparing no add-on nurse vs no add-on spirit.
-
She is definitely not great on console. I've put hundreds of hours into DBD on PS4, have maybe encountered 2 good Nurse players in all that time. Kind of wish they gave her console only buffs like shorter fatigue or faster base movement speed or something, but I guess with crossplay coming up that will never happen now.
-
It baffles me how there are so many weak killer and survivor perks in this game. If you ask me, buffing some of these weak perks should be high priority for BHVR so that we don't see the same boring handful of top tier perks over and over again.
-
So far it's been mostly easy matches, too easy, except for a match against what I think was an SWF, while playing Huntress, one of my worst killers. The easyness is strange, MMR was supposed to have been tracked in the background the past few weeks, so my MMR should be pretty high since I've been consistently ranking up the past few weeks, yet I'm getting matched against brown rank potatoes more than I was before the update, on both killer and survivor. Hasn't improved queue times at all on PS4, still getting 20+ minute survivor queue times tonight, just like I was before the update.
-
Not a fan. Many other licensed killers I would place before him.
-
I don't know if millions of monthly active players is true or not, only the devs can know if that is true or not, but the game is currently the 16th most played game on Xbox One and the 15th most played game on Steam (with 55k peak concurrent players today). No way to see the ranking on Switch and PS4, but I would assume PS4 is comparable to XB1, Switch might be lower.

maps need to appear in bloodweb more or their add ons need to appear in the bloodweb way less. I have so many characters with 20-30 map add ons and maybe 1 map on that character. Which still isn’t all that useful in you know the map. I would only want a map to find totems
Yeah, I really hate how many key and map add-ons show up in the webs. Such a waste of points. I'd 10 times rather get brown offerings than useless key and map add-ons, at least you can get a return on the brown offerings.

You spend 3k to buy it. Notice I said profit.
Ah, I got you now. Still, 1k profit is not bad, they are good to buy if you want to maximize your bloodpoints to get through bloodwebs as quickly as possible to unlock as many perks as possible.

Even if you do use them you only profit 1k if you max out your category lol
4,000. They give a 50% bonus and the cap for each category is 8,000. They actually pay for themselves if you get the full 8,000 in that category. Buying them and then using them is a good way to get through bloodwebs quickly, since they can pay for themselves.
-
It's super frustrating. I can't count the number of times that I've gone in for a save on a teammate, only for them to purposefully kill themselves just as I get there. I always give them a thumbs down negative review afterwards through the in-game system, but I'm assuming that the devs don't look over those negative reviews for possible rule infractions so that those players can actually be punished for trolling teammates.
-
I think the devs said that an MMR will be averaged for you based on your first 10 games as a new killer that you haven't played yet. So first 10 games could be poorly balanced, but after that it should improve a good bit, and continue to improve over time, in theory at least. Maybe the system will also take into account your average MMR across all killers, for new killers.

Okay then, matches should last 3 to 5 min max. There is obviously nothing wrong at all.
Oh no, I agree completely that gen speed is too quick currently. Gen repair time should have been increased from 80s second to maybe 100-105 seconds when they nerfed ruin.
Devs said they are working on some kind of fix for gen rushing in the anniversary stream a couple of months ago, but we still don't know exactly how that will work. They likened it to the end game collapse, but for generators. So maybe if generators are being repaired too quickly, the entity is going to block all generators off for a short while? Dunno.
-
I assume you meant year 5 roadmap. Year 4 was last year.
-
Wait, what? 8 minutes for 4 gens is very slow, considering a single survivor can do 1 gen in 80 seconds. I often get games where all 5 are done in much less than 8 minutes, now that ruin got nerfed into oblivion. I recently watched a video where 4 gens were done in 3 minutes, 7 seconds:
-
I'd say it's a viable tactic at the end of the game, if you're playing a mouse 1 killer and don't have NOED. If you don't stay right on the hook, somebody will save them for sure, and they'll probably have borrowed time which will allow them to all escape through the exit gate. Camping super closer to hook mid game though? That's pretty cheap imo.

Then open it yourself. Easy as that
Why would the killer help the enemy by opening the gate? And how can you guard a hook and open a gate at the same time? Maybe you can do that if the hook and gate are very close to each other, but that is fairly rare.
-
Late August would be my guess, release around 2nd week of September.
-
An audio cue would be nice. I honestly have struggled trying to use him since the change, between trying to concentrate on not hitting a wall by accident and trying to time the uses to keep the chain going while chasing a looper, I usually screw up and either let the chain end early or bump into something, it's very annoying. In his current state, he is still not a killer that I will ever want to play, just one I will play for challenges only.
-
Yeah, some of them are pretty bad. Just finished the 6 chests one myself, and did 4 chests in one game with a coin offering and the perk that lets you see chests. Basically I wasn't doing anything productive for my team for about 2 and half minutes while running around looking for all 4 chests, so 2 teammates died because of me. Please stick to survivor challenges that are at least beneficial to the team BHVR, doing gens, being chased, cleansing totems, opening gates, unhooking, healing, etc.
-
No official roadmap that I'm aware of. I would assume that we will get 2 more chapters in September and December. Devs are aiming to get MMR and crossplay going by late fall, graphical update in early 2021 I think.

How do you counter dead hard if they use it to gain distance to a pallet they otherwise wouldn't have gotten to?
explain how you counter that.. I'll wait
Several of the exhaustion perks can technically allow that. Dead hard has the least distance gain of them all though, but you get more control over when you can use it, compared to Sprint Burst, Balanced Landing, and Lithe. That trade-up between distance and control is what makes Dead Hard balanced.
-
Framerate always seems fine to me when I get Lery's. I'm on PS4 Pro though, might make a difference.
-
I don't really main anybody. Killer wise, I try to play them all at least sometimes, though if forced to pick a main I'd say spirit. Survivor wise, I used to main Claudette for her magic camouflage abilities, but now I just switch between survivors who I have bonus bloodpoint offerings on mostly. Once I unlock Yui I may main her because I like her design alot, but we'll see.

OP -- just open the gate yourself if you don't want it 99'ed. Easy.
I think the OP is saying that it's unfair for the killer that survivors can 99% gates then leave them to prevent the endgame timer from starting, in order to give themselves extra time to try and save a hooked survivor.
-
@Pipefish said:
Honestly the endgame collapse timer should start the moment all the generators are powered in my opinion.
Either this, or exit gates should slowly lose progress over time if survivors leave them, maybe 1% progress per second.

Until Dawn is top tier for me.

No. I just feel that the new MMR won't do much in the long run. SWF is a thing, and it's going to bring the same rank imbalance we have now, except with the 'secret skill tracker.' Devs haven't yet said how the new MMR will affect SWF member, so I'm assuming it's going to be as the whole, similar to how it is now.
In theory at least, good SWF teams should have the highest MMR in the game, and should be getting matched against killers who have the highest MMR, so the best of the best going against the best of the best. Of course not all SWF's are top tier, so some will have lower MMR and will be getting matched against somewhat weaker killers. But there are alot of unknowns, is there a max difference in MMR that the matchmaking system will allow, or will it match high MMR survivors with low MMR killers just to improve matchmaking times for high MMR survivors, like the game seems to do currently, where red rank survivor teams can be matched up against purple and even green rank killers?
-
NOED is bad for killers though. It's a crutch perk that holds so many killers back from getting good at the game. If you can't get a single sacrifice in a match without NOED, then you need to go watch some good killers on twitch or youtube and practice their tactics until you get good at the game. Using it to rank up is only holding you back from getting good at the game, I dropped it within a month of starting the game and I'm glad I did, I'm a better killer for it.
Yes, Survivors also have a crutch perk. DS in it's current state is OP, it's supposed to be an anti-tunneling perk, but not all tunneling is intentional, sometimes the tracks you follow from a hook end up being the person you just hooked instead of the savior, and then you're stuck with the choice of either eating the DS or slugging and guarding or slugging and leaving them to go back top gen patrolling. The game would be alot better if both NOED and DS were nerfed.
I disagree with you calling unbreakable, borrowed time, and dead hard crutch perks though. Unbreakable is in the game so that there is some counterplay against a killer who likes to slug survivors to slow up a game or use them as bait to get other survivors, you're never going to get to use it against a killer who picks up survivors normally instead of slugging them, making it a wasted perk slot in those matches. Borrowed Time exists so that there is counterplay against a killer who hook camps. As for dead hard, it takes some actual skill to use, you need good timing to use it, too soon and the killer doesn't attack and it just prolongs the chase by about 2 seconds, too late and the killer hits you.
-
NOED is a crutch perk for killers who don't want to learn how to play. If you're so bad at killer that you can't get a single sacrifice before all gens are powered, you probably should go watch some good streamers or youtubers play killer, learn good tactics, and practice them until you get good at killer. You're never going to get better relying on a crutch perk, NOED is holding you back, let it go. I stopped using it within about of month of starting the game, it was very liberating, and I'm a better killer for it.
You can't expect solo players to somehow coordinate the removal of all 5 totems before the end of a game with no voice chat, especially when there are certain maps that the totems are very hard to find on, like Lery's.
-
Seems fine to me. It was a needed buff, but he doesn't seem to be top tier, it just brought him up to maybe a bit above average.
-
I play normal if it's just a key and one other tool, but if at least 3 survivors have a tool I will usually bring franklins.
-
Nope, spirit is one of my favorite killers, I don't want to see her nerfed any more than she already was. Only play billy if I have a challenge for him, they can do whatever they want with him. Nerf doesn't even seem that bad to me, chainsaw cooldown is pretty quick from what I've seen.

You took a break for a few months. From back when wait times were 45 mins?
And you dont cancel/requeue after 10 mins?
I havent had finding game issues in months. 5 10 mins at most.
Also, how did this thread turn into another anti swf circle jerk?
Well, it was more than a few months really. I stopped playing last September or October I think, came back in July. When I left I had no matchmaking issues at all on PS4, could find survivor matches in less than a minute and killer matches in seconds. I can still find killer matches in seconds, but the survivor queue times are horrendous now, especially at night. I'm guessing the ruin nerf was a big part of why so many people stopped playing killer while I was on break, I was shocked when I discovered it had been nerfed when I came back, ruin was an essential part of the killer's kit, crucial for slowing up a match in the early stage, without it 2 or 3 generators often pop before you can find your first survivor, chase them down, and get them on a hook. Add to that the various individual killer nerfs over the last year, the fact that hit registration is still wonky on PS4, and the fact that so many survivor players on console are the t-bagging, flashlight clicking type of obnoxious, I'm not really shocked by the massive killer playerbase drop-off while I was gone. Devs really need to address these issues before they kill the game. Cross-play and MMR should help some, but in the end those are bandaids for the larger problems with a toxic playerbase, poor console optimization, and poor survivor-killer balance in favor of the survivors (and I say that as someone who plays survivor about 70% of the time).
-
@zestros said:
What rank are you? I am currently 9 on both sides ps4;
As killer I get matches near instantly any time of day, but more so at night.
The issue is that you get alot of swf on comms.
And ofc, they are extremely toxic.
When they survive, they berate, when they die, they berate, when you kill their friend, they berate, and if you camp one of them on hook while gate is open and you want to secure a kill, extra berate.
There's nothing you can do.
Yet I felt surprised at killers running ruin corrupt ebony with hell mode add ons literally every other game when I was survivor rank 6
Rank 7 survivor, rank 9 killer. Like you, I can get a killer match in seconds, but survivor is like 3-5 minutes during the day and can be 20-30 minutes or more at night. Devs really need to do something about the lack of killer players, like I dunno, maybe not ruining the balance constantly in favor of the survivor players.
-
The problem is back again. Been searching for over 30 minutes tonight without a single match.

Precisely because it isn't using MMR? ie. it's totally random matchmaking lol.
This kind of stuff is the exact reason I stated they need to be transparent about how the MMR system ranks players, with clear ratings. Because active or not, as long as there is no MMR rating, but "ranks" exist there is literally 0 way for players to know it's having any effect at all.
The current/old matchmaking system is designed to match killers with survivors who are about the same seasonal rank, it's not supposed to be completely random. MMR is supposed to match killers or survivors who purposefully de-rank or go inactive for awhile causing multiple rank resets, with people who are at their actual skill level, instead of with people who are around their current seasonal rank. The fact that it matched me, a former rank 1 but current rank 12 killer, against a team of survivors who are rank 2-4, makes it seem like MMR is already active. And it wasn't just that 1 match either, I'm getting at least 1 red rank survivor in just about every match now as killer.
-
As a general rule, I don't prestige in any games, it makes no sense to me. Why why would I reset all of my earned perks and have to go through the bloodweb all over again just to get a lame bloody version of the basic outfit? If prestige gave actual good outfits I might consider it, but as is, not chance.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
...MMR isn't even active right now though?
Sometimes I wonder if it secretly is active on PS4. Yesterday, when I was rank 12 on killer (was rank 1 in the past before multiple resets, so I have high MMR) I got matched against an all red rank survivor team. If MMR isn't active yet, why would it match a rank 12 killer against rank 2-4 survivors?
-
Trapper needs some work for sure in my opinion. Overall the worst killer in the game in my experience, especially after the ruin nerf. Before ruin gave you time to set some traps in the grass near key loops at the beginning of the game, but now if you take the time to set traps at the start of a match, like 2 or 3 gens pop before you are done. He's even worse on indoor maps since there is no grass to hide traps in, survivors can easily see them and disarm them.
-
By far my most wanted chapter personally. Though I prefer Ashley to Sam personally. Maybe we could get a Legendary outfit that allows you to change to Ashley?
-
Lithe and Dead Hard are the two I use most. I hate sprint burst the most, as I always forget and waste it by sprinting to a generator or something. Not enough areas where you can make use of balanced landing for it to be very good, especially after the recent nerf.
-
Competitive. If they added an unranked mode I would be willing to call it casual, but ranked only kind of kills that.
-
Some advice for those of you who consider yourself to be potatoes: I recommend watching a good streamer or youtuber play the game and then copy what they do. I used to be a bit potatoey myself when I started playing the game, but my skills improved immensely after I started watching Tru3Ta1ent on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/TrU3Ta1ent
He's a rank 1 survivor and killer and has been for a long time. You can learn so much about the game from watching him; how to properly loop killers, when to disengage chases as killer because the chase is lasting too long and you have 3 other survivors out there gen rushing, how to force survivors to waste good pallets, etc. I've also discovered some really good killer perk combinations watching him.
-
I'd say A tier on survivor, B tier on killer. I have made it to red rank on both in the past (rank 1 on survivor), but I'm definitely not top 1% on survivor, let alone killer.

Leatherface, Freddy, then Pig. That was three in a row. : P
Technically Leatherface wasn't a chapter though, he is what the devs call a paragraph. An update that is just a killer or survivor, not both, and no map. Bill from Left 4 Dead and Ash from Ash vs The Evil Dead are the other 2 paragraphs. Devs have never released 3 quarterly licensed chapters in a row.
-
Spirit is first, Freddy is second, at least in my hands, as I'm terrible with Nurse. 3rd best for me is probably Hag or Doctor, but I don't own Demo, Deathslinger, Executioner, Plague, Oni, or Ghostface yet, so I can't comment on them.
-
Spirit easily.
-
Pop is definitely the best, especially on killers that can get around the map quickly. Ruin being a hex perk destroys it's potential, since a hex totem can be destroyed. If ruin was permanent it might be worth the slot, but right now it's not worth it unless you don't have pop unlocked yet. Even Huntress' Lullaby is more useful than Ruin usually.
