  • Corrupt is a bandaid though. You shouldn't have to run that one thing to not get dominated.

See how you said Killers need to slow down the game a bit, thats what Im trying to imply. Killers should've used different slowdown perks instead of relying on ruin. Now that ruin is being reworked, they won't be able to do anything and will probably rely on tunneling and camping (Which is bad) just to get a kill.

Like what? Thana and Dying Light are bad. Effects are near negligible. The only one worth it is PGTW honestly and thats if you can get to the gen before they complete it. Devour Hope does stop gens but thats if it lasts and they dont find it. Corrupt can be good but mostly people just enter immense stealth for the duration. Thrilling doesnt help against gens they are working on. More of an information perk than slowdown.

  • Only consistent issue i have had is your grab being taken away. Like youll grab someone and it will do the animation and then stop mid animation and reject the grab.

  • Its been rough the past couple days. Always tool boxes and they map offer to Red Forest/Ormond/Rotten Fields. It blows. If I want to win I have to play as sweaty as possible and can't make 1 mistake or I lose lol. Could just be the past 4 days or so but yeah really tough games every game. The roughest part is that there isn't really anything worth while for gen slowdown other than PGTW. Corrupt everyone just hides for 2 minutes. The other perks for slowdown dont do much and if they start to the game is over lol

  • Honestly the new Demogorgon skin is amazing

  • Spirit. I love all the mind games and being rewarded great distance for out mind gaming her. Second would probably be Michael. Just him staring at you or if you get caught in the open is super punishing. Terrifying. Third is Hag. A good hag can always keep you on your toes and jump scare the hell out of you!

How about actually hugely decreasing the appearance of specific maps that need reworks even with offerings as a band aid instead of messing with all the game?

I'm not opposed to it. Would love for the devs to come out and give some plans on how they'll address this other than "We're Listening" or make it so gen times are relative to map size as a band aid.

But increasing gen time would give more trouble than actually fixing what needs a fix man, I just made a post about it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/121290/i-need-to-say-this

Agreed but we all know they only seem to be able to push 4 map reworks or so a year. The game shouldn't stay in the condition it is for that kind of time for an all map rework. That will hurt the game too much. I can still consistently 3k/4k without ruin but new killers are struggling. The lack of killers at the moment have drove queue time up so much that a lot of my survivor friends are less inclined to play and my friends who aren't amazing killers are having very tough games to the point that they don't even get a drop of enjoyment from it. I don't think that's going to be healthy for the game. Something needs done to make the game more enjoyable for killers. Map reworking is 100% the biggest flaw but I don't see it happening in time to prevent people from quitting.

So, we can agree it's not cause of gen rushing but more on map and killer choosing

Exactly, sometimes it is the killers choices but sometimes the killer can make all the right choices and still not be able to do anything because of map design but I think we are more likely to see a gen time fix with the current maps than we are to see every map reworked which is why i think a lot of people are proposing gen time increases. I personally don't think gen times should be increased all together but maybe we look into a second objective or something that stalls the first 2 gens from popping so you're not required to bring corrupt for set up killers. Maybe even make mechanics for stalling on those killers that need it most? There's definitely something to do but maps take time.

  • @Carlosylu said:

I might have an unpopular opinion but there's no such thing as "gen rushing" it's called "bad gen pressure byt he killer" or "the killer decided not to hurt everyone he could if they were all on the same gen forcing them to loose time healing".

And about the tunneling, it's just dumb, unless he dared to teabag you... Tunneling is counterable btw

I'm both killer and survivor red ranks, xbox

Gen rushing is most definitely a thing but usually with commodious toolboxes(BNP, Swivel sockets) and prove thyself. Generally doing gens over healing or rescuing. And yeah while I can agree that sometimes it is due to bad killer pressure, sometimes it is also due to the fact that the killer can only be in 1 place at a time and can't feasibly get to certain gens in time because of map design/size. Also sometimes there are areas of the map that are so strong to loop in that you're better letting them go and finding another survivor but if they just run there everytime you chase someone then what do you do? Once again map design.

Just going to start by saying that I didn't read through the whole post (little busy at the moment), I skipped to the TL;DRs, but I'd absolutely agree that getting matches like that would turn someone off of the game. We're looking into matchmaking issues at the moment, and if all goes well, we're hoping to share some more info on that later this week (no promises, fingers crossed).

I have some new friends to the game and the only real turn off for them is them facing red rank killers because they want to play with me and matchmaking times being 10 min on ps4. Are matchmaking times something being looked into? Really kills the game for new people.

  • Honestly probably Hag. I dont face her often at all. Maybe twice a month but when i do my team and I get destroyed. God forbid she gets someone in basement and has traps everywhere and patrols within teleport. Rough.

  • @RobMeister88 said:

BT actually needs a buff. It shouldn't require a terror radius at all.

The no terror radius aspect is there and provides killers with a counter. The perk is great when you're being tunneled but the problem is when players abuse it along with the other meta perks. The killer can be doing very well and get some pressure with 2 people on hooks but borrowed/ds/unbreakable can let the survivors be clumsy and come back from a situation that shouldn't be that easy to get out of. But like i said the perks need to exist to prevent tunneling and face camping.

I kind of agree though, IF IF IF anything can be called gen rushing it's survivors going in with toolboxes, BNP and maybe prove yourself? But then still you're just trying to get your job done faster.

So then with that logic there's nothing wrong with Moris? Just trying to get your job done faster.

  • Demo main here. I love Demo obviously but I actually think he is in a better place than most people think. I am sitting at Rank 1 playing him exclusively 90% of the time and can consistently 4k while piping. His shred is actually an amazing tool. Knowing where to use it and where to bait it is key. Any bottleneck of any kind is a free hit with shred. Mostly bait it out in the open and if they don't react to your bait then let her rip and try to predict their movement. People keep saying the portals are niche but they are actually amazing, set them up but dont activate them until you have to so you can "surprise" them. Even if you dont get the 100% jump on them you still just traveled the map at an insane speed and are going after another survivor. In key locations put down 2 portals but only activate one. If they are able to cleanse without you knowing then you can still teleport there and apply pressure. Only issues I have with him are a majority of his add-ons are not good or power altering at all. I think thise need a full rework and they couldve been more creative with them. Like one that mutes his roars and one that lets you turn around mid upside down and go back to the portal you came from. Also his stomps should be muted while undetectable.

  • @Xerge said:

I've been wanting to try the PWYD + Nemesis combo and see how that works with his bottles; slower survivors and a faster clown, doesn't sound bad, but I haven't tested it yet.

If you do that i would highly recommend his add on that lets you one hit down if you direct hit with a bottle and possibly run Make Your Choice. This way you will get more out of your PWYF stacks because everytime you attack you lose a stack so being able to one hit down people is a huge plus.

  • I play both killer and survivor but the recent wait times for survivor have really pushed a lot of my friends away due to having to wait so long for a match. Currently sitting at Rank 1 Killer and main Demogorgon. While I'm not really affected by the Ruin change because I prefer Corrupt Intervention for its consistent stall, I do understand why people are upset and as certain killers on certain maps there's not much you can do for gen defense and pressure if you can't get there to do it.

  • @gantes said:

Demo is a great killer. He has map pressure and eats many tiles and pallets for breakfast.

He has a bit of a high skill floor, that's why we don't see him more, but he's definitely one of the better killers. He does not need any more than he has right now.

Agreed on everything but his add ons could use some love but I think other killers are more in need.

  • I mean in my eyes honestly I'm taking the role of a brutal and vicious killer supposedly so it only feels right to kill everyone.

Agreed, I have no issue with the regression being more, but there's where I sort of draw the line, a lot of people want it a normal perk but I think it's just too strong that way, thoughts?

Agreed I think this new ruin needs to be even more punishing to keep as a HEX. Like maybe it regresses at the same speed it gets repaired or something like that. To really make it threatening.

  • 100% Demogorgon. He has his issues but I think he has a pretty good kit and am currently demolishing teams at Rank 1. Love it!

  • @Actually_Jesus said:

I'd rather original content than licensed, and the Smasher sounds great. Know BHVR though, they'll take the idea, and impose ridiculous limitations and cooldowns for it. Basically, they'll neuter it. It'll basically be a pitbull without teeth.

Yeah the power sounds like it would be really unique and having the ability to not be looped would be awesome but there will probably be a long cooldown or stun of some kind that renders the ability not too good.

  • @ryanrobot said:

Yes mostly because of the phrasing of the patch notes. They repeatedly said things like "unfun for survivors" and "not enough risk for killers." It especially baffles me that with how unpopular and weak the doctor is, they wouldn't even consider the killer's side when reworking him. They genuinely gave no effort to make it look like the doctor rework was for the killer's benefit. In fact, it was pretty clear that the doctor rework was for the survivor's benefit. How do you rework a weak, unused killer for the survivor's benefit? And they never even bothered asking WHY over 90% of red rank killers use ruin, they just nerfed it with zero care to the aftermath of the actual game itself.

I love the part where they list the benefits of the new Ruin change and every benefit is for survivor, not Killer.

  • Yes i believe they do. They don't neglect killer fully but most issues are shrugged off it seems from anything I have read. We will see if Borrowed and Decisive Strike get touched as they are heavily abused by teams. Doubt it. Also Killer audio bug has been in the game for a month or more and nothing. But if it were survivor audio it would be fixed in a week. I think maps and layouts in general need a look at.

  • I mean you think so but surveillance wont do anything unless they get off the gen. If they dont get off it then itll never regress therefore never turn white...the game shouldnt start with all gens white because they arent regressing. If the game starts and they are all white then itll definitely be strong as hell but i guess we will see tomorrow!

  • I get that then why not replace ruin with something that actually would be reliable haha since ruin wont have esrly game stall anymore. Just run corrupt lol

I plan on going Surveillance/Ruin/Pop to see if Ruin turns Surveillance into a stronger Discordance.

You cant use pop if ruin is up though because you cant kick a regressing gen. Replace pop with Thrilling Tremors maybe for extra time off gens

Like I said, in context is where the issue is. Many, many issues.

When does third seal tells survivors it's active? I only ever played against it once...I think...🤔 and don't remember

As soon as you hit someone it says you have it. So youll hit one person and swf everyone knows its there.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

Those statements describe devour hope aswell. So by themselves, no, I don't see the issue.

In context is where the issue is. :p

Yes but devour doesnt tell you its there until it is a big problem. Surv can test ruin right out the gates and destroy it. In my opinion thats why third seal and lullaby arent very good because the survivors get told its active before it really affects much.

  • The weirdest thing about this change is that the point of ruin is to give survivors a reason to NOT do gens and waste time overall. Now this new one is giving them a reason to DO gens and not get off them. Just strange.

  • Dont forget the audio bug that makes sound screwed up for killer.

i think you can protect it well if you play hag/trapper/demo/freddy so it wont break

    or put some Haunted Ground

Yeah but if you're defending it you arent pressuring gens so they will pop them off. I think we will need to see how it turns out. Not having it for set up killers is going to suck tho.

  • @Kagari_Leha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969621#Comment_969621

Actually a dev answered, you cant use kicking perks with it, so no overcharge or pop

but it means Surveillance will be active on all the gens.

Oh thats nice with surveillance but thats if Ruin stays up. Id probly kick it to the curb and run PGTW and corrupt. I just dont get the early game nerf. Thats the point of ruin is to help in the early game where killers struggle the most.

  • @Kagari_Leha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968783#Comment_968783

It will be less strong sure, but i think it has good potential on a lot of killers, especially combined with Thrilling Tremors for example, or PGTW

But will it work with POP? because it should be regressing so you cant kick it

  • @MasterTater said:

Wait doesnt tier 1 Ruin do nothing since it regresses 1x faster?

It doesnt do anything. It regresses which it normally wouldnt unless kicked. Im wonder if this will affect POP because they are regressing

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117366/demogorgon-problems

Demogorgon is an insane killer, even on red ranks. His ability allows him to protect hexes extremely well, and he literally shuts down almost every infinite because of Shred. The issues you might be having is that you are too predictable so survivors dodge it, but practice solves it. If it helps, watch Otzdarva play him on high ranks, he made a video with devour on him

Agreed on this. Shred is best used when they cant dodge it, like in a bottleneck or when theyve committed to vaulting or dropping a pallet. Sometimes youll activate shred and they will start moving and give you a free M1. Also i would highly reccomend BBQ on him. Dont activate your portals till BBQ tells you or you have so much pressure that they dont do the portals and if they do, teleport and punish them.

  • @UncannyLuck said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/965561#Comment_965561

Err how's that work out if the killer immediately goes for you and downs you, then goes after someone else? You were still tunnelled and are unable to play the game until someone comes and heals you (barring running No Mither or Unbreakable) which isn't too different from being unable to play the game due to being hooked.

I think that, if we're going to add conditional deactivations, then healed to healthy and/or if someone else is hooked while you're not in a dying state avoids the problem I described above.

You're looking at it from worst case scenario from a survivor perspective. But the worse case scenario from a killer perspective shows how it is abused with borrowed time and sometimes unbreakable to allow so many second chances. Allowing them to ######### up and still get away. As the killer you screw up once and it can cost the whole game. Let alone when 4 survivors all have 3 second chance perks. This is why it needs looked into because survivors can completely flip a game because they stack all of the perks and do stupid things with no punishment.

  • @BigTimeGamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/965561#Comment_965561

its really is as simple as that, I don't see why this is such a controversial topic

Because a good group of swf survivors can abuse it even if they arent being tunneled. They will use it to have immunity from the killer for 60 sec or the killer eats it and has to do another chase while everyone else does objectives.

do killers have any other playstyle during this event? I'm getting off until the next update or at least until the event is over. Thx for being the worst community like usual :)

Honestly I never run into this. Slugging is obviously gunna happen it creates pressure. The camping and tunneling is down to interpretation because what some people i have seen called tunneling is when the killer goes for them the 2nd time. Even if he hooked someone else in between. Thats not tunneling. And camping, well if your team is altruistic or he has a belief that someone is nearby then searching for that person isnt camping. You dont just let them get an unhook for free. You lose all your pressure to keep them off gens

  • I had most success with Trapper. Did it 2 games in a row. I ran iron grasp, agitation, ruin, save the best for last. I just try to trap any jungle gyms near basement and set some traps around killer shack. Try to get your stacks of STBFL and itll help tremendously with keeping people in the basement. But when it all comes down to it the survivors really dictate whether you complete the challenge or not. They can DC right as youre about to complete it. But best if theres a nice 3 gen near the basement too so they kinda have to go near it.

  • Just played as him last night and his lunge is massive

  • I would want optimization, especially on consoles and maybe graphical update but graphics arent too big on priority. And would like them to visit all the weaker killers and tweak them(trapper getting the brown bag add on base, windstorm base wraith, etc). Crossplay to help with matchmaking times. Demogorgon QOL and add on updates. Id like the game to be at a healthy state so they can work on the games core like maybe a second objective for survivors.

Where did you get "unseen killer?" It just said she lured them with an ad of some kind and that she took their money and fed them to her pigs. Sounds like a black widow seductress type. Which, I mean, still kinda siren like.

It says that the beginning of the lore. I mean unseen as the archive guy says "a killer i have yet to see" or something like that. So its not that she is not see-able, she is just yet to be seen in action.

  • @Accullla said:

I haven't listened to/read any of the lore, but I like the idea of a banshee/siren. Either way, I really hope the next killer is original and brings a unique mechanic into the game.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circe

This is the best guess I've seen so far. I still find it rather unlikely. She really doesn't fit a horror genre type game. I expect the next killer to be a BHVR original. It is pretty tough to marry the idea of a seductress killer with owning a bunch of swine though.

I did do some reading on Circe and Medea but their lore doesnt quite fit well enough the story and i wouldnt really say is scary. Sorceress type stuff really doesnt fit into DBD theme per say. I really feel like Siren/succubus?(but they usually only seduce men) or maybe an original idea that is unique to BHVR. Like i said earlier maybe a killer with pets
