  • BHVR: We will spend more money buying licenses for characters than to fix our own game.

Joking aside, they do need to help out new players with the progression system because basically the first game you play you will 100% lose at least as killer. Killers take too much skill to master, at least the good ones and newer players will either have to play low tier killers or try to learn the good ones and get destroyed multiple games in a row. Either way its just bad.

  • sad trumpet noises

    Pretty good job so far.

  • Also base struggle off is I believe 12 seconds.

  • Anything to make it better than it currently is. Maybe a few number tweaks but idk.

You're missing the point. Everyone is saying "yeah, but he's weak, allow him to exploit the reveal timer at least, poor guy...". It feels like an exploit. I'm seeing him! He's in front of me, forget about timers and mechanics... I SAW YOU, I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE MAN, game over! the fact that he has to hide and reset my reveal timer and then keep stalking feels like an exploit, it feels like a moonwalk legion before rework, it feels cheap, it feels like abusing the mechanic.

Move out of the way and go somewhere else instead of just standing there letting him stalk you?

I just want ultra rares to actually be ultra rare

Ultra rares are ultra rare. The year are rarely seen in game. But during events everyone uses the ones they stored up.

  • Yeah if they had a survivor with this chapter queues would not be this bad.

  • It's been fun guys, but I'm leaving the game, not much for me to do, since I can't improve much, I have ridiculous killer que times (main factor that drove me away), and survivor is boring as hell, like literally boring.

    Sponge bob reference:

Sandy: ill give him a week

Squidward: ill give him 11 minutes

  • @Jimsalabim said:

you know guys... you could just disable the perk while working on a fix. but yeah let's ban ppl for playing your game and perks... sigh

Same thing happened with Legion add ons. When they were bugged they banned players instead of disabling the add ons.

  • He's the only Killer with which I've actually ever DC'd and wanted to DC.

I think the reason why the gen rush is so bad right now is because Wake Up is bugged. I think we need to start reporting people using it.

The map has been fine since they boosted the aura brightness, I personally don't have any issues with it.

Even with the aura's boosted they are still the dimmest ones and it definitely shows. Not that it effects gameplay but I think all aura colors should be the same. And scratch marks are either spawning on the other side of the snow or are as faded or more faded than the hook auras. I will often be following scratch marks and they just disapear or there are so few of them I think the survivor went in another direction, I look around and no they kept running they are just so faded I couldn't tell if they were new old or what direction they were going in. Out of anything the scratch marks need the most fixing on the map and they need to do something about the frame since I get at least 50 or more frames on every map except that one which is around the high 30s to low 40s range.

    @Paladin_Goo

Just because the Wake Up! bug isn't as bad as the Legion bug, it doesn't make it right to exploit.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Who wants to bet that the people who downvoted are the ones who are abusing it. I got 10 bucks.

  • @Perelie said:

You realize what you're suggesting is being forced to take 4 perks just to have a halfway decent counter to a base mechanic that survivors have by default?

Depending on the loop you can mind game. Most loops where the survivor can see you not on farm maps after they drop the pallet, if they stay at the same loop you can easily get them to vault the pallet and get a free hit. These are unsafe pallets. The safe pallets, you can use enduring and spirit fury to get a free hit or 2, but sometimes you just gotta do the loop and wait for them to drop it. They did say one of the worst offenders of safe pallet loops, badam preschool, would be getting a rework pretty soon (like 6 ish weeks).

Overall, there are counters, but they do take time to practice and some just require the right map.

They are nowhere near the same. Not even on the same planet. No.

That's not the point. The point is the way BHVR is dealing with the bugs. Banning people for abusing a bug isn't right and ignoring the bug isn't right either. In both of these situations they could have easily disabled Legions add ons and the Wake Up perk so people can't use them. And how both of the bugs slipped into the game is on the QA team not testing the game thoroughly enough or not being given enough time to fix everything. Either way, they should just disable the thing that is bugged, work on a fix, when they get it hox fix it into the game instead of just waiting for the next big patch to fix it and banning/ignoring players.

"its the morality of just letting survivors abuse a bug with no punishment. "

This part right here makes me laugh because there has been plenty of killer bugs that went unpunished. Most recently the clowns insta down bottles. And in the past his massive speed increase for abusing his reload add ons.

They ban players when it actually is warranted. And using WU ain't it chief.

But the point still stands, they either ban people or in the case of this they ignored the bug. Now with the clown they probably wouldn't just straight up disable the clown to fix the bug, but something as simple as the add on insta downing without needing the direct hit and the speed bug. Why didn't they find this in QA testing and if they did find it, why did it take so long to get patched into the game?

The way BHVR goes about finding/fixing/dealing with bugs is all wrong. This isn't about the people that abuse it, its about what BHVR does when a bug like this pops up. Their "solution" to the wake up, ignore it until probably either the hox fix with the completely un-needed and jerk reaction nerfs to ghostface. Or maybe even until the mid chapter patch.

  • Read the rest of the post, that isn't the point. The point is BHVR doesn't know how to fix their own issues. They either can't find the bugs before the patch goes live, can't fix the bugs before the patch goes live, and if people abuse the bugs they would rather ignore or ban people instead of just disabling the thing that is bugged and people are abusing.

  • @fluffymareep said:

    What's the Wake Up bug?

It buffs all actions speeds by 15% instead of just the exit opening.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

In all fairness, the Legion bug was around for a while before they said anything about it. It was game breaking as well. This is not so game breaking, as I've 4k'd every match tonight with Trapper and at least 3 were running WU in each match.

    No comparing the two.

I feel that this just shows that BHVR 1

Doesn't play test their patches enough before releasing them to have released so many bugs with sound, perks, and mechanics. The PTB helps but even from going from PTB to live there were just different bugs.

And 2 they only care about bugs if they will drive a lot of people away from their game. The Legion one was because a lot of people were playing him and it ruins the fun for the "many side" instead of the "power role". Again like I said the 2 bugs are different but they still allowed them to be abused and instead of simply disabling the bugged stuff they either ignored it or banned people for using it.

They also banned people for the 2 killers in 1 game but I can see that since there really isn't a way to prevent that other than fixing the bug and it must have been complicated so not something they would have tested.

Overall, the main point of this isn't trying to compare the 2 saying a 15% boost to action speed is as bad as having to mend for 5 min, but it does show that they are incapable of finding/fixing bugs before patching and they refuse to simply disable things that can be abused and would rather either ignore it or ban people.

Really showing they don't know what the best solutions to their own problems.

  • @Paladin_Goo said:

The wake up bug is not nearly on the level of what the Legion bug was. Please, stop comparing the two. The Wake Up bug can be completely countered by being a good killer.

How can a literal buff to action speed have counterplay?

There is nothing you can do to stop a direct buff to a character.

And yes I do agree that they are not on the same level as the Legion bug could ruin games, its the morality of just letting survivors abuse a bug with no punishment. Because where do you draw the line of, This bug is not significant enough to have us issue punishments to players abusing it and this bug is something significant enough to straight up ban players for doing it.

Also I will say the solution they should have done for both of these situations is disable the addons for Legion and disable the perk until they are/were fixed. But no, its BHVR and they would rather ban people than simply disable the thing.

I liked killers bringing in strong stuff. It was a good challenge and stopped alot of teammates from the usual troll manuevers. All together it allowed me to get some good games as a solo and the increased threat made matches feel sincere.

Then you haven't faced a camping huntress with Iri heads. No counter play to that beside literally just letting the person on hook die and trying to rush gens which is not fun for anyone.

  • https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/961/XLZZAW4QZV4B.png First and foremost, perks went live, so you're going to be monitoring them, Ghostface went live, but you're not going to monitor him?

Honestly they have selective listening. They only hear what they want to hear. Also I think this is another Freddy situation of them nerfing a killer before the players got used to playing against them. Which is really stupid since they said they would never jerk reaction nerf a new thing, and yet here we are he goes live with already planned nerfs. Not even 1 week to actually try him out and they already plan to nerf him.

Same ######### different day. Always going to be those folks that have to sweat their asses off. Today i had an omegablink slug nurse that was absolutely relentless despite there being 3 - 4 point offerings + the event. Hardly anyone walked away with alot of points in that match compared to if it was just a normal game. Some people just play to ruin the event for others. Thats Dead by Daylight.

Why we can’t have nice things.

  • Another instance of bad ideas being put into the game with no communication with the community before it gets release. They may talk a lot but they definitely are not talking enough and asking us about changes of what we want.

    Speaking of which...

    Don’t nerf ghost face.

  • This isn’t what happens when the QA team is too small and there is too much to test on too little time, especially too little time to fix everything

    "tryharding"

A very judgmental word. "Playing to win" is a more accurate term. And winning means killing as many survivors as possible.

You'd prefer that we farm? Thing is, I don't need BP. I need the pleasure of killing survivors. Any other consideration is secondary. Not that memeing a bit once in a while is not fun, but generally, farming, giving hatch, playing "friendly" etc is just horribly boring.

I agree that killers should be free to do whatever they want, just purposely targeting people to ruin their fun is just trolling and rude.

If you just play normally and win it’s fine. But always during events we see the worst and most trolly strats come out from both Killers and Survivors.

  • @Bithard said:

You are welcome. Just because it's an event doesn't mean people have to play differently. The majority of killers I've seen have brought moris or camped people on first hook. It goes both ways with this.

Very good point, ill change the post since I can confirm when playing as a survivor either the killer was camping or tunneling people.

  • I never even knew saboing beartraps was a thing until I read the description on the "Saboteur" perk.

I do if I have some charges left on a tool box and see one. I hate trapper that much.

  • Devs are adressing main issues of Ghostface but I really can't tell if it is going to be enough for him. Can we conclude anything at this point or not?

Nothing has changed in the PTB so my expectations are that’s he will still be Joke Face.

One match does not prove he is good. I can do that with Freddy given enough games.

Dead by Daylight is not the only game they make and have made. A lot of people only know Bhvr because of DBD; but I originally knew them for both Naughty Bear and WET. Right now DBD is STILL not the only game they work on; and they are pushing content out at an astonishing rate while doing a lot of behinds the scenes work to try and refactor code; so I am not that bothered by how slow they work sometimes. At least Bhvr is one of the few companies I fully trust to eventually make things right; which I can't say about most gaming companies.

You haven’t seen most game companies then. BHVR does fix issues, but I have never see a company continue to create as many or more issues than they fix.

@NMCKE My only gripe is this statement

Legion went from trash to dumpster fire.

"They can always change him later, such as making his FF status effect add-ons take effect on the first M2. Just remember, they have priorities, which means they can't do everything at once so just give them time. Also, they changed Legion because they didn't like the "No Counter Play" part about him, especially the moonwalking tactic. Now, he has counter play and he's a 115% killer, just like y'all asked for... again."

Or more specifically, that last sentence.

They always had counterplay, the very same thing they had now. It's just that they can't exploit DW now like before.

I've never asked for 115% speed, and I don't remember anyone here who asked for it either. Other then that, I sorta agree with your points.

I heard a lot of people wanted 115% just because we were sick of 110% back to back killers. But now Legion's power is basically useless compared to others which is why I put him at the bottom with Freddy.

Only time will tell if they actually change him and make him Mid tier. Or if his power can even be balanced to do that because they kinda screwed themselves with his power.

Eh I don't think this is the case.... Vince and cahla the 2 streamers who were on the 3yr anni stream got to see an inside look of what's coming and they didn't announce anything to the community

Well this is just an idea, but if they suggested it I think the hardest part would be finding people that would be unbiased or at the least having equal biases on each side. If they can do that I think it would be really good for the game's future.

Who is ScottJund, and basically you want a group of random people to enjoy all the perks of being the Devs, without actually needing to go through all the hardwork required of being a Dev.

Basically, you want to call the shots and then make the Devs do your work for you.

    How about NO.

if ScottJund wants to make the perfect hide and seek killer game, he should make his own game.

If you had watched the video you would know he livestreams DbD on a regular basis and no that is not what that is at all.

At most this would just be a few community members like the Fog Whisperers or something that could have direct contact with the people that do develop the game and tell them whether or not they like their ideas and if it is something they think the DbD community would want to have so we don't have situations like with Ghost Face and his perks being so garbage.

Seriously did you even read anything I typed or even clicked on the video? Not sure what I am expecting you to take away from this reply if that is the case but, no that is not what Scott said in the video at all.

I kinda doubt they would actually do something like this. And even if the wanted to I don't think they could allow normal people to do it because of NDA.

But if at the very least this makes them realize their community knows what they want in their game, that should be good enough for all of us.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

I've been saying this for a year. So many times we've seen a perk or event announced where players will poke holes showing a fatal flaw in the system (Halloween event). Each time, the players turn out to be right and BHVR has to make corrections. Most of the time it is obvious issues to players that reveal a sloppy quality control function within BHVR.

Exactly this, we know what we want and them trying to do their own ideas usually never turns out that great. Then when they fix it to what we say it almost always turns out right.

  • So, nurse will get some changes and its more than obvious that its going to be a nerf and not a buff.

I can agree. If they touch her base power the outrage will be the largest it’s been since 1.9.2

But just about everything else they have done as of late is either not meaningful enough or flat out sucks.

Well let's see what you put down, and I'll tell you what I think.

Freddy never needed a rework, he just needed QoL changes like Adrenaline and Self-Care not waking you up. Instead, they're about to destroy him.

Actually, the community seems to love the new Freddy, especially the Freddy mains. You saying they are going to destroy him doesn't reflect what the community is saying about him. While I agree a few QoL changes would make him better, he still had unfun factors about him such as the dream transition, action penalty, aura reading, and his invisibility. The rework removes all that frustration while making him really strong! :)

Peanits already said in another thread they won't have time to fix Ghostface.

They will have time to fix Ghostface, but just not within the PTB. He's still going to be a good killer after they fix him, and I think they are going to buff him as well!

Plague and Clown are still garbage.

Actually they are really good, but Plague struggles at high ranks a lot more than Clown does. I heard some Clowns are deadly, because they know how to use their AoE gas.

Legion went from trash to dumpster fire.

They can always change him later, such as making his FF status effect add-ons take effect on the first M2. Just remember, they have priorities, which means they can't do everything at once so just give them time. Also, they changed Legion because they didn't like the "No Counter Play" part about him, especially the moonwalking tactic. Now, he has counter play and he's a 115% killer, just like y'all asked for... again.

And you want me to PRAISE BHVR?

Well, I'm not telling you to kiss their shoes, but you should at least respect the effort they put into this game. It's not easy trying to balance an asymmetrical horror game.

They shouldn’t make killers and perks that need to be buffed and fixed Day 1.

Or if they decide to do that they need to learn their players won’t pay for a crap product. That’s is the Fallout 76 mentality, ship it now fix it later.

I definitely don’t want DbD turning into Fallout 76 so they better learn from this and make better updates and content we will want to pay for.

  • @Peanits said:

First and foremost, there are nowhere near 500 people on the Dead by Daylight team. BHVR is a big company with all sorts of different teams and projects, DBD is only one of them.

Beyond that, there are many more devs playing the game than you might think. Most people here do not stream and do not have the BHVR tag in their name. A lot play on console in their spare time, even. We have people from a wide variety of different skill levels.

We go through many iterations before anything hits the PTB. What we played even a day before might be different from the version that first hits the test build. We try to give you the most up to date version possible when the PTB goes live, and naturally this means that some bugs and issues appear.

The PTB is not the final version. We still have time to make changes before it goes live. The entire point is to get your feedback.

All I can hope of the Dev team is they actually listen to this feed back and have the time to make some major changes before live release. I don't think we need to tell them that letting a killer's power be completely nullified by something so simple is extremely silly.

But 2 weeks I don't think is nearly enough time for as small of a dev team you guys have so I wish you guys the best of luck in fixing everything and will prematurely say sorry for all of the backlash you guys will be receiving for probably months after Ghost Face is released.

  • @Shad03 said:

"There's a difference between saying something along the lines of "Ghost's power is terrible because very rarely can you activate the exposed status due to survivors having free control of their camera at all times" and "This killer is a travesty and a spit in the face of every killer everywhere. BHVR hates killers and wish they all never bought their game. Literal dogshit tier killer, whoever made this should be fired"."

Never said that myself if that is directed at me. I don't condone people kicking and screaming but I understand why they kick and scream. Seeing as how you took a break it's possibly expected why you haven't seen people behaving like people.

"One is constructive criticism. The other is just flaming. Let me know if you need further clarification."

    That's my line, buddy. >_>

"I can't speak of The Plague (was taking a break from the game) but I know that Spirit and Legion both received PTB changes based on feedback or very soon after launch. That is a decent track history based on the last 2 of 3 recent killers at least."

No, no, no. Spirit was changed after PTB, showing us the Devs CAN occasionally listen, but otherwise they seem to blissfully ignore us.

They only JUST NOW changed the Legion, months after they came out and even then the change castrated them.

The changes that they have made from PTB to Live have never been that meaningful and the issues in Ghostface run so deep there will need to be a rework for him and it is really sad to say that before he has even release the entire community knows that he will need a rework. They either need to get their design team to learn to design a decent functional and powerful killer, or they need to find a new design team that can design a decent, functional, and powerful killer.

Until then they won't get my money for their crap work.

  • @HP150 said:

The Ghost hasn't even released yet. The PTB is there for a reason. Constructive criticism is great and helps but I really think people are taking this too far and should hold off on calling the Ghost the greatest abomination / a personal attack on killers as a whole until we have the actual product in our hands.

It's not like The Ghost wasn't an interesting concept. It just doesn't translate well in the current state of the game when played against survivors with any level of competency.

As far as the perk changes go, I like them for the most. I just wish they'd do away with the obnoxious, unnecessary red-flash when pallet stunned.

Like they are going to change this complete piece of crap killer into even a semi decent one in 2 weeks is impossible. The only way they will actually change the way they make killers is if the people who play killers tell them that this is not acceptable to even think that this would be good for the game.

Also how did a QA tester not realize the bug with survivors being able to look at ghostface for .0001 seconds and have his ability turn off? There is no way they could not have spotted that bug meaning either. 1. BHVR didn't care enough to fix it before the PTB or 2. They could not fix it before the PTB, in 3 months they had to make him they left in and couldn't fix a literal game breaking bug.

There is no constructive criticism to give to people who know what they are doing wrong and either can't fix it or refuse to fix it.

That is why if ghostface doesn't release in a 1000% better state than he is in the PTB. BHVR won't get my money and hopefully not a lot of money because they need to learn that creating terrible killers that are hardly functional is not the way to make money.

  • When is the Legion rework/update coming? After Freddy gets updated he will be the worst killer by far.

  • We are excited to see if he is good. He isn't good therefore excitement is gone.

Not sure why you are complaining about complaints but these complaints are the only way we will see any changes during the PTB.

So I will gladly complaint all I want about BHVR creating a killer that is countered by literally looking at them.

  • Is it just me? Or are sounds messed up again? Its gotten to a point to where I can't track downed survivors or injured ones. Its like playing deaf.

they mess up sound every patch but they did say they were going to focus on fixing them for next patch.

  • I'm a firm believer that not everything a killer is capable of should have a hard (>50% success rate) counter.

Here is your counter to exposed/broken.

Hide, if the killer can’t find you he can’t hit you to get effect out of exposed. If you are talking about NOED it already has counters besides just hiding.

  • I mean, its their game they can do whatever they want. They will probably add the battle pass, that doesn't mean I will buy it, and the free version will have rewards so kinda a win-win for me.

  • @chewychevy said:

Someone dropped the ball. It happens, best to learn so it does not occur again.

500 PC testers is about 2.5% of their player base. In reality these 500 testers are probably the more active non-casual ones (myself included) which is likely closer to 5-10% of that player base.

Not too familiar with the video game industry model, but most industries you do not want to ask 5-10% of your market in one channel to trying something out and then fail to deliver (speculating that all 500 were unable to get in so far).

Improvements off the top of my head

    1. Did not seem like they had someone coming the forums to check for errors during the launch. If not, budget in the cost of active customer support throughout the launch so the moment the issue arises it's known.
    2. I am sure they did testing on it leading up to the event and even when it went live, but something in the testing missed this EAC error. Need to identify root cause why it was missed, especially as this error type has occurred as far back as 2016/2017 so it's not new.
    3. Communication. It's been 2.5 hours since it went live. It looks like it's an issue for many users. I am speculating it's most if not all. The code just got switched off from 9am PDT to 9:30am PDT. A quick email to the 500 users acknowledging the issue would be good. Something along the lines of "BHVR know players are experiencing an EAC client can not be Instantiated issue. We are actively looking into this and have deactivated the build in the meantime. We will follow up within 24 hours with details."

At this point I think they have abandoned the experiment. Next steps are likely

    A. Redo the experiment with the 500 selected. Quick apology along the lines of "Sorry we wasted your time, but we appreciate the player base and thank you for your patience"

    B. Be transparent and list out the reason why it did not work this time and why it will not happen next time.

This is the email that they sent to everyone, keep in mind they also got the date of the experiment wrong and the time of the experiment wrong by saying the wrong EDT time but the right UTC time. I don't know what went wrong but they definitely need a lot of safety nets next time they try something like this.

    Dear participant,

The issue causing the EAC cannot be instantiated error cannot be resolved today despite our best efforts. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and we will notify you of our new Experiment date shortly.

Unless you wish to retract, you will stay on our participant list for our next Vanilla Experiment. Note that our test version is now unavailable to the public.
