Especialy if u think about starting playing, dont play killer game if fully balanced on side of surviivors and ppl openly admit it.
And thats how will look most of ur games if u go a bit higher in ranks. Not fun.
This is definitely not how they explained match making should work. And if you don't like the product you are given, the easiest message to send to the makers is to not use it. So I agree with this.

Yes, we do ask the question about what's fun for Killers. Hence the changes to insta-heals, Decisive Strike, and some others. :)
Insta heals are better now but they are ultra rare and were only problematic when sweaty groups used them, however their nerf was well deserved. Decisive is arguably just as frustrating as you will get DSed even when you didn't tunnel people, so while the change was good it definitely doesn't compare to what is happening to ruin.
Some others not listed, the swamp map change to make it smaller was a good change, but thats 1 in probably 10 maps that need looking at. Theres still cold wind maps, suffocation pit, crotus, yamaoka estate, haddonfield, and ormond that I can list of the top of my head that are too big and some even have more problems after that like all of haddonfield and ormond.
Then like 20 other survivor nerfs that were completely unnecessary such as the balanced landing change, maybe if the maps were better designed the Nerf wouldn't have been needed and it could continue to be a good perk.
And as far as what is fun for killers go, is a 5 second stun coming out of your power fun? Is needing to recharge your power slowly while moving slower than survivors fun? Is needing to walk around the map and watch 3 gens get popped before you have all your traps fun? Is watching 2 gens pop before the killer gets 1 hook fun?
So I ask this all encompassing question, is playing killer fun?
My answer, sometimes but most of the time no. It is mostly frustrating, irritating, stressful, and overall unrewarding. These changes do more harm to this than any changes have ever helped it, and with the dev team seemingly being dead set on doing this change and doing nothing about the broken matchmaking, I feel that the amount of killers playing will be slowly depleting, either to go do something more fun and less stressful with their time, or to go play the actual fun and rewarding side of this game inbetween 30 min queue times.

Last Year After Dark if you are looking for an asymmetrical horror game with game designers that actually care more about their player base than their player base's money
-
This is true BHVR visual arts team is amazing, incredible map style and great visuals
The music department just as good, really great work on the themes.
But Game Design and Balance, That is where they really drop the ball and make decisions that either get the response of "meh" or "?????"
-
All the people complaining about the changes have already left the game.
-
They don't care about community feedback to a change they knew what the reaction to it would be but went with it anyway. Because screw Killer players, why should they have a say in what happens to the game. Why should they even have fun with the game?

Oh that’s a good one XD

What an amazing way to sum up how this game will die if these changes go live with no tweaking.

Thanks for a heads up

Really goes to show how little they actually care about community feed back.

Ok Survivor main. At least you qualify for a job at BHVR game design.

Hey game designers. LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY PLAY YOUR GAME. They know more than you, guaranteed.

Good point

Its alright, its console DbD but portable. You just have to get used to the controls and clicking on things is a little difficult. Fair warning, rank 20 killer queues are like 10 min long.
-
How about instead when the mid chapter patch drops we all just stop playing killer? I think it will be more fun for both sides that way.
-
One thing Last Year has on DbD is it will have free chapters if they are not licensed. You update your game and get brand new content at no cost of grinding or spending money. Also it’s just... more fun. Idk about you but having abilities and working as a team to complete multiple different objectives sounds way better than every single game. Do 5 gens... leave.
Also it has dynamic environments and has more options for strategies beyond just looping and holding m1.
But right now it’s basically in a paid beta stage so we will see what it is like in a month or 2. Given it has had 4 updates in 1 week I am hopeful.
-
Honestly they should just disable it until they rework it

Fair enough I concede. It is like 10 extra perks.

Basically, the stats released tell us nothing about the game or it’s balance or how good the players are or really, anything at all.
They are basically just numbers that exist.
-
The stats are interesting but without one controlling variable like maps, or killer, or player, or many others the stats released say nothing about balance of the game, skill of players, or how well the ranking system works, or anything at all.
The only thing these stats let us do is make memes about Freddy being the best killer now.

Gen rushing has always been a thing. So has kill rushing.
I agree, both ruin games. Both are unfun.
Unless as a killer you enjoy slugging 4 survivors who couldn't even find ruin to have them either bleed out or die after trying to kobe of the hook, it ain't fun.
But likewise, unless a survivor enjoys sitting at 3 gens holding M1 for 3 min then opening an exit and leaving, it also ain't fun.
Both sides have this issue, but the survivor is meant to feel powerless against the killer *not that powerless* but they are supposed to fear the killer because... they are a killer. Solo survivor is by far the most powerless role in the game. But SWF discord de pip squad, is the most powerful role in the game. And nothing will put you off of playing killer more than being the *"power role"* and feeling powerless.
Its why killers always complain about gen speeds. Aside from the gimic ruin and the bandaid of pop goes, they are powerless in how hard survivors slam those gens.
This really comes through when the survivors actually start playing to escape is all.

@DeadByGayDwight said:
Okay...killer here.
Why does everyone complain about survivors doing gens? "Gen Rushing" is an idiotic term, just like "Tunneling" and so on. That's literally their main objective...that's their ONLY main objective, aside from the exits gates. If you can't grasp the basics, allow to explain. In Dead By Daylight, all matches come down to this:
Each survivor tags in and out with the killer while other survivors do gens.
That's the most basic concept. If you're a good killer, no one can get to the exit gates before you kill everyone. And that, is a personal issue, NOT a DBD issue.
"Killer here" I doubt that and I doubt you even read the post. I addressed that. Now tell me killer main, how long do you games last? How long do you think games should last? Lets say if you were so efficient at killing you could beat how survivors rushing gens or should I say "doing their main objective"
3 survivors on gens 1 getting chased.
3 survivors can get those gens done in 80 seconds. So unless you want 60% of the survivors objective done by the time you did 8% of yours, you have to down the survivor in less than 80 seconds. Lets say you play a decent killer billy. Now this survivor you are chasing knows those mind games and can loop efficiently causing you to need to chase them fairly normally and break pallets and such. On a map such as blood lodge even if you were really good at looping there are enough pallets on the map to have that survivor be chased for well over 80 seconds. Yes all the pallets would be gone, but they are playing to escape.
So lets go with you down them in 80 seconds 2 gens left 1 survivor on the hook. You have 2 options go for another survivor, or camp the current one. If you go after another with good old BBQ 1 survivor goes for the save and they decide not to heal since they want to gen ru- I mean "do their main objective" So they get on a near by gen. 1 survivor is now being chased, last one has been working on a gen this entire time about 20 seconds.
The person you chase has less stuff to work with but gets you to blood lust 1 each hit, a good survivor won't get into the position to be chainsawed. That chase takes about 30 seconds to get each blood lust and maybe 20 seconds to catch back up after the hit. You go to hook them. The last gen just popped. 80 seconds for 3 gens. 20 seconds for the save. 60 seconds for that last gen to pop since 2 survivors on a gen takes 44 seconds. That is a grand total of 2 min and 40 seconds for every gen to go off.
Now you have the same situation, do you go after another survivor or camp the current one. Me having 900 hours in the game, I think camping would not be a terrible idea since if you leave they just get saved and leave. But if you go after another survivor with the help of BBQ you risk getting no kills if an exit gate gets opened.
Option 1, go after another survivor, you find another survivor near an opening exit gate with their friend that they unhooked, it took a while to get over to that side of the map so the gate is half way opened. Logically you start looking for the injured one and lets say you actually found them. At this point there might be a pallet around there might not be. But if you chase for even 10 seconds that gate is opening because of the other survivor who hid from you since you chased the injured one. You chase and despite the odds you down the injured survivor and hook them. The other 2 survivors are waiting at the other exit t bagging, the last survivor you don't know but you know the exit you are at is 99%. So you start looking for that survivor, but gasp they went around and unhooked the survivor. So you see this foolish move down the hooked survivor, but wait borrowed time. They start running for the gate so you chase, they open it, but the healthy survivor didn't body block correctly and you hit the borrowed time survivor. Quickly you pick them up to stop them from leaving.
But... DS you get stabbed, they T bag and all 4 survivors leave.
This story is not fake, I have seen this exact scenario play out over 100 times over streams, videos, and in my own experience. Given the only fabrication of this is, the map had to be specific since Blood lodge has so many pallets it is very easy to loop every killer on except spirit, nurse, and huntress. Anyone killer who cares about pallets will have a rough time with that map. The other thing I didn't address is items. A good tool box just makes this story go by even quicker and can end the game in sub 2 min and 30 seconds.
However, I also ignored ruin. Ruin could make this game go on for about another minute if not found, or extend it 20 seconds because it spawned next to a gen.
My whole point is that unless if you have faced that 1 team the infamous "De pip squad" you will never know how much power survivors hold in their hands.
Now don't take this as survivors OP plz nerf. I am saying that the only reason that this game has killers playing it is because survivors waste this potential in almost every game. Solo survivor is perhaps the weakest role out of any side. Solo survivor is frustrating as you have a killer who can tunnel, camp, or smurf into dumpster you and your team. But you also have your teammates who can be that rank 21 who will hide and crouch after catching a glimpse of the killer across the map, and they do nothing the whole game no saves, no gens, all they do is hide.
The balance of DbD comes from survivors playing badly. That is the point, and after this update, a lot stopped playing badly because of the things they heard about Oni being this overpowered monster. This makes every killer game since the update that I have played a stressful, unfun, and overall terrible time.
That is the point. Also gen rushing is another term for "doing the main objective". If you read the post I addressed that.
I quote: And before you make that comment "GeN rUsHiNg IsNt A tHiNg" It is, and basically it just means survivors are treating just like their main objective.
-
Highly optimal survivors play to escape. They can breeze through ruin or find it within 5 seconds of the game starting.
When the survivors play like Find gen, hold m1, finish gen, find next gen, repeat till all gens are done, then leave. There are only 3-4 killers who can actually do anything against that kind of a team and they have to use some pretty insane add ons and sweat their balls off.
Don't believe me? Here is video proof. https://youtu.be/F6Nb66nPbMY 99 videos of proof and I would argue these aren't even the most optimal survivors.
Too long didn't watch. Imagine a killer only being able to get 1 kill out of every 4 games. Meaning after facing 16 survivors they only kill 1 of them. That is what happens when survivors play to escape and they are good at it. Not even great, just good.
-
I mean if you really break it down, none of the devs would work on DbD if they were not getting paid. But I see what you mean.
However even if the devs have the best things in mind for their players its the directors and the higher ups at BHVR that decide what gets worked on, what has priority, and how the game is shaped. Usually this ends up with them focusing more on things that keep the money flowing than improving the game
Probably the reason why gens haven't been touched in over 2 years. They are boring and depending on what survivors do they either get done super quick, or never get done. But since making them more interesting and having them extend the game out longer won't make them any money and require for them to re-balance a lot of things if they did a change, they will 100% never change the way gens are done.
-

Maybe make the exit gate have parts scattered around the map that spawn as each gen gets done?
Still doesn’t fix the issue that they are so boring to do.
-
Just have it deactivate when another player is hooked. Ez Pz fix to those times where you don’t tunnel a player but they still stab you.
-
Gen speeds and the NPCs who say, no they are fine and balanced.
-
Sounds being a gamble if they work, frame rate hardly being above 40 on even good PCs, the hit boxes have never been fixed, dedicated servers are so bad, they have never fixed how fast gens get done, some perks have not been touched but are super weak, events are too far between, the later archives are too hard.

Committing hundreds of hours to grind levels back when the Bloodwebs were munted is no where near the same as being lucky/privileged enough to obtain a convention code.
What about the skins they are releasing from the Chinese New Year and summer BBQ events. You didn’t need to get lucky for those you had to grind for them too.

I would put my money on the next killer to release if history repeats itself

TLDR: The math is wrong so the conclusion is false.
I applaud you for checking it, I just assuming it was right from the copy pasta, but the point still stands of her maximum potential or skill ceiling being lowered. Not as much as I originally thought however, it’s still there.
So is DbD really trying to remove the competitive viability of killers? At least no addons no perks no items, competitive play.

@Awakey said:
Holy text, Batman!
But seriously, I see what they're trying to say. It's more of a change than people think, but what this fails to incorporate is that her chase potential is mostly still there, because Survivors don't run in a straight line. She can still be used competitively.
You say that, but what happens when they learn to run in a straight line? Like how you learn to not cleanse against plague, or you learn to suck hatchets. It just takes time for survivors to adjust to the change and for the real effects to be seen, but I doubt you will see that in any rank below 10 after a month or 2 of the change being live.
-
Please keep working on getting everyone’s ping below 70. Huntress feels bad for both sides and the lag back on killer is nausea inducing.

Some members of the forum had excellent ideas for the gentapping issue. Gens need a time to get ready to be worked on, equal to the time needed to kick a gen. Boom! Fixed.
If only the designers actually looked at forums and took our advice to heart. But I guess they think it is their game and not our game.

Insta heal got nerfed, you guys happy? Killers and survivors are equally nerfed and balanced.
No, they said they were focusing on add ons and we all as killer players collectively said “don’t touch her base kit”. So they touch her base kit.
Just like with mending we all as killers said make nurses calling see people mending, so then they made people healing from madness not be detected by nurses calling.
I think this is purely because there is a survivor majority in the game so of course they cater to the majority, but my god if this isn’t a slap in the face to every killer main ever. Because who is next? Spirit getting her base nerfed even though the only issue with her is prayer beads? Billy when he gets his add on changes getting a cool down on his chainsaw?
No strong killer is safe anymore.

Lol loving how as soon as the best killer in the game for years gets slightly tuned down and everyone loses their minds. This might be a start to BHVR adjusting every killer down the line to all be playable in red ranks!
Adjusting every killer down the line to all be playable in red ranks... if that were the case, they would need to do some major and I mean major nerfs to survivors, like another mandatory objective, longer exhaustion times, smaller maps, more gens, who knows. But to have every killer be competitively viable a lot of survivor nerfs would have to come through in many ways. Particularly with some maps.
Or this could just be BHVR removing all competitive viability in the game to have the game be played by strictly casuals that they can nickle and dime with the new battle pass, charms, skins, and who knows maybe even DbD will go F2P so they can soak in all that great micro transaction money, and with no competitive players to complain about balance they are free to make whatever they want for the soul purpose of getting money. But that could just be my paranoid self scarred by many AAA companies doing exactly that by trying to milk as much money from their product as possible.

Nobody wants to play survivor, take a guess why. :)
Survivor is generally an unrewarding experience providing little gain for a lot of effort depending on your teammates. Extra effort if they suck=less opportunity to get points you want like objective. Team mates too good, good luck getting boldness altruism or objective depending on where you fit in the team.
Or the fact the killer can just decide they don't like you and face camp/mori.
Yeah if survivor got as many bloodpoints as killer then maybe, but even then I think killer is just more engaging than survivor will ever be. Either you hold m1 or get chased. Chasing is fun but if it is against an m1 killer, easy. Nurse or spirit. yeah you might as well take a nap because if you run you will only die tired.
-
It’s nice, but I don’t have friends to play with because they all quit because of how unbalanced and buggy the base game is. But it’s a cool feature.
