  • To make it fair we should differentiate between immortal/non-physical killers (i.e. Spirit, Freddy, Oni, Myers) and physically normal human killers (Trapper, Bubba, Legion, Ghostface, Doctor etc). Exception to both categories would be Demogorgon I suppose.

In the "ordinary human" category Bubba would probably dominate everyone fairly easily. In the original movie he's huge, extremely strong, keeps up with a pickup truck despite the fact his chainsaw cut into his leg and well... He's got his Poulan chainsaw capable of making short work of any normal human being.

  • Haddonfield will be fine in my opinion once Balanced Landing is out of the way. I got kind of abused by a SWF team with a Haddonfield offering and Balanced Landing like a week ago and I still managed to kill 2 of them. Without the passive effect I would have killed them all as I had to leave chases multiple times when it was clear they would make it to the balcony. Without the passive effect I will just chase them through the Strode house and/or all the way through Texas if necessary since they will not be able to keep their distance brainlessly anymore.

  • I don't even realize there's a streamer unless the streamer messages me "way to ruin a stream you (insert insult here)" or "21 people have seen how ######### you are" etc. after the match. I wonder how many streamers I've killed in the last 2 years. Then again who the hell streams on console anyways? Probably just a bunch of bored people with no viewers.

  • Entity: So, how much stalk do you want?

    Myers with Nemesis: YES.

  • I tried to take a hit for someone against a pinky finger Clown at the exit gate. It totally slipped my mind that he had pinky finger.

Ended up getting instadowned and 1-hooked. The survivor who escaped didn't even thank me lol.

I'm sure I did a lot of stupid stuff throughout the years but this one moment was pretty... memorable.

  • When I was a kid I didn't even have a PC/console... Or internet... Or a phone...

Meanwhile today: 12 year old screams at their own TV insulting another player online wearing a headset. Proceeds to threaten other players that their daddy is gonna get them banned for not making it so things go their way.

  • I give hatch or the gate to the last survivor almost every game regardless of how good or bad they played and I hate myself for it.

  • Placeholder voice. She will have her own voice in the live version.

  • No offence and not even sure it you read this buuuuut how could you ever switch from Destiny to DBD thinking it would be better for you? Destiny is a peaceful PVE game for the most part. People spend their time together doing repetitive PVE events except for Gambit.

Dead By Daylight however is purely PVP which is -by definition- stressful as it puts people against other people. In case of Dead By Daylight you're not only going against people but it's also a race against time for both sides, too further increasing stress levels.

Dead By Daylight is obviously not a game for the person who is looking for a peaceful interactive online experience that can be enjoyed after a rough day at work.

Its overall design concept makes it very attractive to play anyways which is why many people end up playing it despite being psychologically unable to take the stress, the rude behaviour of other players etc. so I don't blame you for quitting the game. If there was an offline mode in DBD many people would probably never play online again.

  • All I want is a flamethrower killer at some point maybe similar to Evil Within:

The problem is 99% who play bubba is to punish survivors with insidious camping because they lost last game.

I know. I got facecamped with the chainsaw in my face a million times myself for literally no reason. But those guys usually are about to quit the game anyways. Nobody camps at the start of the match for fun (I think). They typically do it because they're frustrated so a few camping matches later they're often gone and never seen again anyways. I usually just struggle as long as possible and move on without saying a word because I know the person must be frustrated. Also most of the time there's like 2 gens left by the time I'm dead so all that camping isn't even paying off sometimes which made me feel kinda well despite getting facecamped haha.

If you go for unhooker and arent one shotting them? Sure, but as it stands nobody besides you is doing it. It should be removed from bubba tho, because the only people who run it on him are camping and tunneling

Not everyone. Sometimes I run Insidious to protect generators.

    https://youtu.be/8c-0yL2ekUs

In this video you can even see someone was hooked yet I used Insidious to hide next to the 90% generator instead to jumpscare the survivor who was about to finish it.

Most people -especially Bubbas- use it to hook-camp, though which is unfortunate since it can be such a good jumpscare perk.

In the given scenario you really are going to imply that insdiious camping is ok. Then procede with your propaganda about survivors suiciding on hooks...

Even if you wanted to fix suiciding on hook you cant. Even if you wanted to go as far as to ban people for it... How are you going to detect it? YOu cant program it so that everybody who stops struggling gets a ban, because sometimes you forget to press that button or your fingerslips or you are the last one on hook, etc...

Don't forget lag spikes. Killed me pretty often during struggle phase. The screen freezes for a second and boom you're dead. 😒

  • @Jejune said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/850664#Comment_850664

Its not about falling for it. Its there being no game. Everybody suicides vs that

It sucks but campers will always find a way to camp anyways. If the devs actually removed Bubba and Insidious every dedicated camper would just switch to Hillbilly. The devs would literally have to make it so a killer gets teleported to the moon to stop a "determined hook camper" from camping. So I'm not sure what to tell you. Those matches suck but luckily it's a fairly rare thing.

  • Wait... People are still falling for Insidious hook camping Bubba? It's almost 2020.

  • The Oni will get bullied by good teams in his current state (I think) so I doubt the devs will nerf anything. The Oni is without a doubt extremely cool in terms of his visual- and sound design. His ability seems strong on paper, too since it contains an instadown and mobility.

However it seems like it takes way too long to get the Demon mode which lasts about 30 seconds (base)? Picking up a survivor while in Demon mode cancels the power, his movement control is very limited while sprinting and he has nothing to counter looping.

I know it's far too early to tell whether the Oni is strong or not but my first impressions are that he's going to feel like a beast against average survivors / solos but rather "meh" against decent SWF teams - pretty much like most killers.

Before someone gets mad: As I said those are just my first impressions. Obviously it's far too early to tell whether I'm totally wrong or not.

  • Vigil's low numbers were the result of exhaustion recovery whilst running and crouching when it was released with the nightmare chapter. Since exhaustion recovery whilst running and crouching was removed the devs could/should clearly increase Vigil's values to make up for its reduced functionality but since nobody really uses/cares about the perk it's a low priority thing so don't expect it to be looked at anytime soon.

I dunno, but I swapped out the only slowdown perk on my build (Pop) for infectious fright and will slug the hell out of a team if given the chance. Might as well give em something to complain about if theyre gonna do it anyway, lol.

How are you using killer perks on Claudette?! And how did your Claudette become such a big chungs? 😁 Nice build btw. I wish Beast Marks weren't so damn rare. I only have like 20 Beast Marks left but easily 80 Tuning Guides.

Everyone has losing games, but we also have games where we stomp. OP talked about 2 gens being done in a minute thirty seconds, but Ive had entire teams be wiped out in that same timespan (not reliably...but you know, Bubba OP, lol).

At this point I'm not even sure if "Bubba op" is meant seriously or not (😂) because people have actually messaged me multiple times yesterday and called me out for playing Bubba as if he were hella broken haha. How do people make it to purple ranks a few days after rank reset when they can't even handle a Bubba who does NOT camp OR tunnel?

Problem is, simply extending gen time isn't the answer.

Not only will this make survivor gameplay more repetitive, it'll also make "genrushing", as we've come to call it, even more necessary to have chances to escape. It'll likely just make the game worse for both sides:

    • Survivors have to do gens for longer, which already isn't the most interactive piece of gameplay.
    • Survivors will attempt to genrush even harder to compensate, making games for killers worse in some / many occasions, too.

Agreed. Also increasing the gen times would massively buff killers that camp first hook. What we need is a secondary objective that is:

    - NOT optional

    - BUT does not put survivors at risk too much

  • @LordGlint said:

And heres an example of a Piggy player who can deal with genspeeds without ever relying on ruin. Putting up an example of Tru3 losing is not evidence of anything. The guy goes on and on about the game being unbalanced and every killer hes currently playing being weak, even when hes 4king in the same video...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzLQ5RahEF0&t=2s

Theres other videos like this one, this is just one of my favorites...

To be fair Scorpionz loses games pretty often - sometimes even against survivors that get outplayed everytime he chases them. I remember one game in particular where every chase ended fairly quickly and none of the survivors managed to actually "outplay" him in a chase yet 3 escaped and they acted like he was a baby killer even though he didn't even camp or tunnel anyone. He was like "why are you acting like that when none of you outperformed me? I mindgamed ALL of you every single time" but thanks to gen speed and maybe toolboxes (can't remember the items) they won anyways.

  • I wish dedicated servers remained a PC and SWITCH thing, only. I don't want to rubberband all over the place and get hit through walls or miss hits at 0 meters of distance due to teleporting survivor hitboxes.

He's ability is a crutch. You don't have a pallet or window near you and your on the hook

His ability is the most skillful instadown in the game and everyone who gets caught by his chainsaw needs to git gud.

  • WHY (some) PEOPLE DISLIKE PLAYING AS AND AGAINST BUBBA (the long story):

There's little room for mistakes when playing Bubba IF you are going against decent (not even elite) survivors because his whole concept is all about getting loads of instadowns throughout the game due to the fact he has NOTHING ELSE going for him (base). No tracking (i.e. Doctor), no stealth (i.e. Ghostface), no mobility (i.e. Hillbilly), no gen stall (i.e. Pig), no (actual) anti-loop (i.e. Spirit) etc.

Now here's the thing. His base range is a lousy 15 meters that you cover with a combination of a speed DEFICIT of 86.25% and a slightly above average speed of 126% (end animation). This means -combined with his base charge time of just over 8 meters of survivor running distance- that many people who pick him up will struggle to get instadowns throughout the game during a chase especially without decent addons IF survivors manage to route between pallets and windows efficiently.

As a result Bubba may quickly turn into a killer with no power. In some aspects his power can even cause chases to take longer than they should.

A common mistake is bumping into objects resulting in his relatively long tantrum-stun AND revving up the chainsaw whilst moving towards a pallet. Experienced survivors will just keep running causing the Bubba player to lose distance due to the speed deficit of 86.25% that kicks in while revving the chainsaw resulting in longer pallet looping.

This causes frustration on the Bubba player's end and makes them eventually just camp everyone they catch.

Good chainsaw control (using it at high distances and successfully steering through doors or other narrow spots while keeping only inches of distance to walls and objects without actually bumping into stuff) should be rewarded imo but since that's not the case everyone will just have to live with the fact that there's only 3 kinds of Bubbas:

    1) the frustrated facecamper

    2) that guy who took his time to master the chainsaw for whatever reason

    3) the meme Bubba who will defend his chest with his life.

  • Many people like the idea of playing killer but can't actually take the stress of playing killer [which is the natural result of versing a group of people as a sole person]. Therefore the smallest taunt like tbagging and using emotes [typically behind a pallet/window] can get some people tilted due to some sort of stress overload.

  • What killer/build do you play? If you play perkless Clown (for instance) you will obviously struggle against decent survivors as opposed to Ruin/Noed/Prayer Beads/Ebony Mori Spirit - especially on a big map where you lose half a generator everytime you check the wrong generator.

  • Hopefully the dedicated servers stay on PC only... I don't want to deal with that rubberbanding overpowered dc monster. Way too scary even for my likes.

Are those dates when we are getting more details? Sorry, I'm really tired.

That's the "estimated" start of the PTB for chapter 14th according to LBD. Hopefully they're correct.

  • November 19th to November 26th

  • If gen repair speed wasn't affected by the number of survivors everyone will always look for a seperate gen resulting in even quicker gens.

  • When she was released no one was able to play her to her full potential so obviously people wouldn't complain about her as opposed to now.

  • Just let him have his own opinion. Hillbilly is certainly a force of nature in the hands of an experienced Hillbilly main and provides amongst the easiest combination of instadown and map pressure in the game so it's easy to think he's the strongest killer.

Personally I think Nurse is still -easily- the strongest killer in the game with Spirit as a close second place. Spirit didn't even get nerfed basekit wise aside from collision which was bs anyways.

  • It's a highly map dependant meme addon that either works extremely well or not at all. Definitely not too strong.

  • Spirit was chapter 9. A rework isn't a new chapter. The trailer is chapter 14. Sooooo...

  • Me too...

That's why I stopped using Kindred completely. Kindred provides so much information but most people will not use said information to make smart decisions. As a result Kindred becomes a wasted perk slot. Even Deliverance is a more reliable way to get off the hook even though you have to meet the perk's requirement first.

  • Dodging happens on both sides... To some degree at least.

If a full 4-man rank1 SWF on voice coms with items joins my lobby and one of them has a name that suggests that they're toxic - then I will ALWAYS bring an ebony mori to make things "fair and balanced".

This exact team joined my lobby today. I know all of them. They're all 2017 players just like me and red rank every season yet they disconnected during the offering screen because of the mori - canceling/dodging the match that I had to wait several minutes for.

One of them often plays killer himself and typically brings moris combined with Ruin+Noed against RANDOM SOLO players with NO ITEMS and ALWAYS tunnels off hook (it's the guy whose name suggest that they're toxic what a surprise isn't it?) yet he called me out for bringing Ruin and Mori... As Leatherface... Against a fully prepared 2017 rank1 SWF team with meta perks on voice coms with items.

I (obviously) responded exactly what I said above: Imagine disconnecting against a Leatherface as a fully prepared Rank1 SWF team on voice coms with items.

He reacted: You're just a low skill killer main. You don't deserve any kills.

Obviously I try my best to forget that kind of disgusting self entitled players so I can provide solo players and "casual" SWF players an actual fun game but sometimes toxic people can get annoying especially if they just cancel the match / dodge me last second because they basically "demand" an easy win.

Lobby dodging/match dodging is just as lame as it gets.

  • A huge syringe maybe?

    Untitled Image

  • I must be an unicorn then as I allowed literally everyone in this match to escape after downing all them within the first two minutes today.

    https://youtu.be/7mtOQhsmNVg

The reason I let them escape was rank reset (I know many survivors struggle after rank resets and I kinda feel sorry for them) and ironically the emblem system. A quick 4k results in a safety pip and little bloodpoints so I decided to farm with them for a bit and let all of them go afterwards. Ironically THAT resulted in an easy pip and nearly 30k bloodpoints for everyone.

They were really respectful and grateful, too so I will always try to give them a fair+fun game if I see them again. I wish there were more people with good manners in DBD. Could probably reduce the sweat in the long run.

  • I think one of the mods mentioned you're supposed to record them on multiple occasions and send them I think it was "8" clips of them teaming against the other survivors. Don't quote me on "8", though. I think I've read it around here.

So basically it's impossible to get killer/survivor teams banned. Another thing is that some killers spare specific survivors sometimes if they have funny interactions during the game. Some people falsely report them for teaming when in reality the killer was just in a good mood and spared them.

That's why they want "multiple clips" of the same people from different matches. So they can make sure they're really purposely teaming and working together to kill the other survivors.

  • @ASAPTurtle said:

I had that happen to me too. I think it's caused when SB activates when a lag spike happens.

A David King had this happen to him as well in one of my games. Turned out he didn't even run ANY exhaustion perks. It occured for him when he got unhooked.

  • Haha same I've just been asking myself what I could run for a complete Jumpscare build to increase the chances of actually getting them consistently throughout a match.

    - Insidious (obviously)

    - Tinkerer... Maybe

    - Ruin (could allow you to protect a gen last second combined with tinkerer)

    - Whispers (so you are able to tell whether they actually left a gen or not)

Surveillance+Insidious could work well together as well. Kick the gen, walk behind a wall about 10meters from the gen and let them die of a heart attack if they touch the gen again.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

@Yamaoka one of the funnest and funniest things I’ve done with Insidious is to run it on Plague against non cleansers and I also use Iridescent Seal.

    Get them broken.

Wait by a gen they’ve already tried to repair, and make sure I’m behind a LoS blocker.

Wait super patiently for them to finish the repair, all the while they’re coughing and puking.

    Step B. MASSACRE.

    LOL.

    Untitled Image

Now that's a game I would like to watch! You didn't record it by any chance, did you?

  • I run Insidious every once in a while when I'm in the mood to play Jumpscare-Bubba who hides behind walls, generators, next to a chest etc. but yes, most people who use it just camp hooks which:

    - is boring as hell.

    - doesn't work if the hooked survivor runs "Kindred" as it still reveals the killer's aura.

    - doesn't work if the survivors warn each other via messages or mic.

    - doesn't work after the first "insidious attack" as the survivors will expect the killer to insidious camp the hook for the rest of the match.

Here's my most recent successful use of Insidious for generator-defense:

    https://youtu.be/8c-0yL2ekUs

As you can see someone was actually hooked during that moment but I still decided to use Insidious to protect the generator.

I kept scaring them away before positioning myself as seen in the clip.

The survivors got so paranoid after a while they literally stopped repairing generators because they expected me to come around every corner revving my chainsaw.

It was really fun and nobody complained about the match afterwards so Insidious can in fact be used to provide everyone an acceptable gaming experience.

  • Overall favourite: Otz - because he's a very analytical player with good plays and very creative builds. Also he seems to have a very empathic personality which is incredibly rare. As a result watching his streams is a very fun and chill experience.

  • @Jacoby2041 said:

They could just make it like Billy's saw (not sure why they didn't in the first place) so it automatically goes when it's full bar

Bubba's chainsaw is a range limited aoe attack that can connect with objects outside your pov as opposed to Billy's chainsaw-sprint which works more like a bullet. Therefore being able to hold the chainsaw at full charge and time it exactly the millisecond you go around corners, walls and other objects is crucial which means Billy's chainsaw mechanic would be a direct nerf for Bubba's chainsaw.

  • Do we have recent data in terms of average kill count for every killer/every rank/every platform?

Their ability to pressure all survivors essentially. Don’t get me wrong, they still aren’t very good, but their stalling is actually decent. The problem they possess can be to get that first survivor down. I believe bubba struggles in every facet other than his insta down. Which hurts if he doesn’t get his first down right away. Without that first down, LF has no pressure without it and I think a lot of times he struggles to get it if you find certain survivors in a good spot (which good survivors tend to be in). Legion can pretty much guarantee pressure at the start. Not to mention LF has to continue to do the same over and over without pressuring the other 2/3 survivors. (I’ve seen your posts, and yes in some rare circumstances LF can get multiple survivors down at once, but is it something a bubba can rely on a consistent basis? No). You probably have some counter points though and I’d love to hear them. :) Especially from a really good Bubba main like yourself!

I'm not going to try and convince you that you're wrong because you obviously aren't for the most part.

Bubba does struggle against strong survivors as he can't efficiently "play around" vaults or pallet loops as opposed to stronger killers. It certainly does make Bubba a highly map and rng dependant killer.

I often manage to pull off some "chainsaw stunts" here and there as seen in most of my clips even against red/purple rank survivors but it's often or mostly the result of survivor mistakes rather than Bubba's potential. I want to be completely honest there.

Also finding and downing someone quickly at the start of the game is (or at least feels) crucial since Bubba has -basekit wise- nothing to slow down gen progression. No map pressure, no tracking, no stealth.

However over the course of the years I've noticed he's one of "very few killers" who can make insane comebacks late-game due to his built in "real" instadown. Once the strongest pallets are out of the way you can -given enough practice- often steamroll survivors at the last 1 or 2 gens (if the survivors are strong enough to get to the late game that is) as survivors will be closer together with less pallets to defend themselves.

That's why I personally don't see Legion above Bubba. They do have some tracking and can somewhat play around vaults and pallets and stall the game by handing out free Borrowed Time but they lack lethality and every Frenzy run allows people to get to initiate a time-wasting chase thus resulting in very little "comback potential" if that makes sense.

LONG STORY SHORT: If people don't play optimally my instadown will make short work of them and if they're strong/smart enough to make it to the late game or even end-game they naturally increase their risk of getting steamrolled due to the decrease of one of their main defenses (pallets).

  • Legion above Bubba? How?

  • If you win too quickly with too little hooks, hits, chases, gen defense you have no chance to get emblem points thus resulting in a "Brutal Killer" even with a 4k.

I usually try and give them a chance to recover if they make drastic mistakes at the start of the game so I can get more emblem points while providing a more fun game for everyone.
