Can we finally do something about gen speed?

I mean the gens are done so god damn quickly and the only thing that gets nerfed are killers that can deal with gen rushing? I shouldnt be forced to play killers like billy or nurse just becasue the defs refuse to register that gens are done to quick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcsxmD_7Ko8 As an example he played Pig and the first TWO gens were doen within 1:30 which is bs. How is a killer suposed to competed with that? He even had ruin up and running so donΒ΄t tell me "just run ruin". But better nerf spirit am i right?

  • And heres an example of a Piggy player who can deal with genspeeds without ever relying on ruin. Putting up an example of Tru3 losing is not evidence of anything. The guy goes on and on about the game being unbalanced and every killer hes currently playing being weak, even when hes 4king in the same video...

To be fair Scorpionz loses games pretty often - sometimes even against survivors that get outplayed everytime he chases them. I remember one game in particular where every chase ended fairly quickly and none of the survivors managed to actually "outplay" him in a chase yet 3 escaped and they acted like he was a baby killer even though he didn't even camp or tunnel anyone. He was like "why are you acting like that when none of you outperformed me? I mindgamed ALL of you every single time" but thanks to gen speed and maybe toolboxes (can't remember the items) they won anyways.

  • Problem is, simply extending gen time isn't the answer.

Not only will this make survivor gameplay more repetitive, it'll also make "genrushing", as we've come to call it, even more necessary to have chances to escape. It'll likely just make the game worse for both sides:

    • Survivors have to do gens for longer, which already isn't the most interactive piece of gameplay.
    • Survivors will attempt to genrush even harder to compensate, making games for killers worse in some / many occasions, too.

Everyone has losing games, but we also have games where we stomp. OP talked about 2 gens being done in a minute thirty seconds, but Ive had entire teams be wiped out in that same timespan (not reliably...but you know, Bubba OP, lol).

Agreed. Also increasing the gen times would massively buff killers that camp first hook. What we need is a secondary objective that is:

    - NOT optional

    - BUT does not put survivors at risk too much

At this point I'm not even sure if "Bubba op" is meant seriously or not (πŸ˜‚) because people have actually messaged me multiple times yesterday and called me out for playing Bubba as if he were hella broken haha. How do people make it to purple ranks a few days after rank reset when they can't even handle a Bubba who does NOT camp OR tunnel?

I dunno, but I swapped out the only slowdown perk on my build (Pop) for infectious fright and will slug the hell out of a team if given the chance. Might as well give em something to complain about if theyre gonna do it anyway, lol. Also...check this out...

This is infact a picture of Bubba on the right. You might have to squint to see him because of how much he blends, but hes there.

How are you using killer perks on Claudette?! And how did your Claudette become such a big chungs? 😁 Nice build btw. I wish Beast Marks weren't so damn rare. I only have like 20 Beast Marks left but easily 80 Tuning Guides.

Who knew Bubba was the best stealth killer in the game? Makes me think of the Legion trailer, except with Bubba...

  • Oh man, here we go again. Gen speeds are fine. Its NOT a problem on gens, its a problem of killer power. You just think the wrong way to get something nerfed on survivor side.

  • Ah, the weekly tru3 optimal swf genrush video post

  • I've suggested just to make it so that every time a Killer kicks/damages a gen, it applies a 10% regression immediately by default like when a survivor fails a skill check. This would not only add 8 seconds to the gens repair time whenever it happens, it would also deter survivors from the current "tap and run" tactics to stop regression. It currently takes a gen at 99% 5 minutes to regress to 0 do to how slow the regression speed is, but if every time a gen was tapped to cease regression it became susceptible to losing another 10% chunk of progress, then that tactic would have to be abandoned completely. Doing this would allow killers an extra 8 seconds to delaying the completion of a gen, and when paired with anti-gen perks, It could slowdown the progress even further and help weaker killers with low map pressure like clown become more viable. Naturally, Pop Goes the Weasel would have to be toned down from 25% to a 15% loss of progress to compensate, and Surge would have to be buffed to a 10-15% loss to be more useful, but overall this small change would help balance the struggle of completing gens as it's currently a 1 sided battle in favor of survivors.

  • I don't think people realize that like 70% of this game killers dominate. The top 30% is survivor run, but making gens longer makes life for that 70% very hard

  • Um yeah, let's not make gen speeds longer

Exactly. Gens do need to take longer, but they don't need to take longer to complete. There needs to be an incentive to stay in the trial longer because as it stands now, the longer a match goes on, the better chance of the Killer winning. Therefore, it is in the Survivors best interest to escape as fast as possible.

Same goes with Killers tunneling Survivors. The game is stacked against the Killer when the trial first starts. His best option is finding one Survivor and taking him out as fast as possible. There needs to be an incentive for them to not tunnel one Survivor.

I'm excited he went to the studio to talk about the Pig.

  • imo gen times are fine as they are it's a mix of larger maps for non-mobile killers and toolboxes that harm the game. I'd prefer if toolboxes were nerfed into the ground and larger maps were reworked so that the game speed was more consistent.

  • Survivors: *Completing 5 generators in under 4 minutes* Genrush is not a real thing! Now, allow me to yell about possible Legion buffs & how unfair they are!

Genrush is real and it sucks. 4 minute matches is why Killers slug, camp, tunnel, and run 'toxic' perks like NoED and Ruin; we're trying our hardest to keep up with games that are 50% shorter than the damn wait time to get INTO a match in the first place!
