2) PROBLEM ANALYSIS: What specific injustices do you believe derive from the existence or from the actual operation of the hatch?
I am just focusing on this one.
The injustice is the following:
The hatch is a mechanic to avoid a 4 kill match and give the last survivor a chance to escape without doing the remaining gens or gates with a clear advantage after the survivor found the hatch.
So it is a kind of a safety net.
But where is the safety net for killer?
Where is the game mechanic that avoids all 4 escaping? That would be NOED. People get extra altruistic after the gates are powered. Otherwise, just... playing well? The thing is, the last survivor isn't necessarily last because they played badly. They could have played really well and just had a bad team. So it makes more sense that they get a chance to escape. But if all 4 survivors escape as killer, that usually just means you played a bad game. (Also it's lore-friendly - lore-wise, the hatch exists to encourage hope in survivors because the entity feeds on the hope of survivors. They don't get anything out of hopeful killers.)
Just to be clear, I do think the hatch mechanics as they stand are problematic. I just don't agree that it's a "safety net" - that would imply that the survivor played badly but it's okay because hatch, but usually it's the other way around: their team played badly, but they still have the opportunity to earn their reward.
No. You can't compare a perk that a killer choose to spend a slot on with a free mechanic like the hatch.
The survivor get that mechanic for FREE. -

That's exactly what we have right now.
Yeah, we have a hook vacuum but it's not a small miniature hook vacuum. Believe it or not, the hook vacuum range is pretty big and it's hard not to notice.
Nope, the "vacuum" is just the animation brought in line. Nothing more.
No real range in it. If you experience anything else, it is lag/latency issues. -

Glad to hear it. Aint nothing wrong with optomising your build for maximum scare your entitled to your fun. Not like its lacking in counters unlike some other perks. Sounds lkke those build would be devastating on a leatherface. No pallets, blocked window so no escape from his saw. XD
But Leatherface is soooo frickin weak.

Because the other side has the strength in numbers. -

Honestly if the killer is chasing me all of my game that sounds fun to me. I'm not big on saves and gens. Ill do it for my team and i will be the gen jockey if i have to. But I find the chase to be most enjoyable aspect of the game.
And here we have the core problem of the game.
Survivor find it "enjoyable" to get chased.
They do not "fear" the killer at all.
The killer is no real threat to them, but just a toy to play with, because it is "fun".
I mean stealth is kinda boring on both sides. As killer and survivour stealth is kinda dull. Some survivours love it but i can tell you as killer i hate it when i go against a stealth team. Do you enjoy hunting camoflaged urban evasion claudettes. Because i don't. Dont get me wrong I still get frightened espicially around a good killer. Its jist gameplay wise this game is built for the chase why else is bbq, whispers and doc a thing.
The way you want killers to be feared promotes a dull boring game that a large portion of the community is not interested in. Dbd started out intended as a stealth focus game but the minute players started playing they found something more exciting. A game of wits and map knowledge which both sides can now largely both game.
That is YOUR PoV. I hate playing ring around the rosie or pig in the middle.
I want the survivor to be afraid of getting chased.
Instead they are following me.Perks like BBQ, Whispers, etc. exist, because the killer is on a tight time schedule and can't afford wasting his time searching empty areas. Getting an idea on where to even search is needed, because the game goes to fast (gen rush).
Make the game slower and we could get rid of those things. -
WGLF is borderline meta.
But yea, go on an deny it.
I hope the Devs bring back the "most and least used perks" stats into their stream. -

And of course people that WANT TO get chased, because they know they are good looper. Combined with DS and/or insta med kits it is to troll the killer and waste his time. -

Instant medkits that heal from dying to full are uh...pretty frustrating to deal with while they're wiping the blood from an already finished chase. Just to start it fully over. Like a full extra life. If only the killers had something to counter that by removing a life....Medkits are ITEMS, Moris are OFFERINGS. You can't compare the two. Items are supposed to have a noticeable effect on the game, offerings should be superfluous. You're missing the point. Whether insta-heal medkits are OP or not is a discussion for another thread.
The killer is solo and uses one offering for a powerful effect.
The survivor are 4 player and all of them can use offerings.
Have you ever seen multiple mist offerings stacked?
Compare that and we are on a similar level of "unbalanced". -
Devs: looping was not intended, camping was intended.
Surv player: looping is needed to survive, camping is cancer!

Rudio1337 said:Cleansing all the dull time actually takes more time than you think, especially on stupid maps like swamp or game. And other factors mentioned before. Pretty much the reason why most survivors just give up on the totem hunt and do gens to progress the game. Besides that, the perk isn't too hard to counter if you actually do the totems, survivors just stick around too long on the map after exit gates are opened. This ofc leads to the killer just getting free downs with NOED
That's a really flimsy arguement. You dont have to search for them, most of the time you wander past them.
But the arguement is that if NOED is as overpowered or game changing as people say, 5 totems is a very small thing to do to prevent its existence.
True, if every survivor just cleanse the dull totems they just wander by, Noed is a non issue.
4 survivor doing 1 dull totem each plus one Hex Ruin = no Noed. And I hate how survivor mains call that "free downs". The killer PAID for it by spending a perk slot and playing most of the match with one perk less. So what about that is "free"?
-
@aarongai said:
Moris reduce Survivor's lives from 2 to 1 and there's no counterplay to them. They give Killers an advantage that Survivors have no answer to, and Moris aren't even tied to a perk or add-on; they're just offerings burnt so Killers don't sacrifice anything using one. This is balanced, because a) survivor are already in such a big advantage in this game, that killer sometimes just need a lift, just to keep their "fun" going and make them keep playing. b) because SWF is in the game and gives the survivor the equivalent of like 5 perks for free with no counterplay c) they are very rare and are used in less than 3% of all kills (all Moris included, even the yellow one).

DS punishes Killers for catching Survivors. NOED punishes Survivors for not breaking totems. They're not equivalent in any way, shape, or form.
I hate the lame survivor excuse.
Even DS is not for "######### player", because if the player is just crap, I get him right after the DS.
Instead DS is a force multiplier. The better the player is to begin with, the better the perk gets and that's a huge problem. -

Yea, switch targets, let 'em heal and get looped by the next survivor.

Because it is so much fun to do the Benny Hill show, while gens pop?
Or should the killer enjoy playing pig-in-the-middle?Applying map and gen pressure? Sorry, but if you get looped for more than 2 gens these days, you are pretty bad. Especially if you have hex ruin and everyone is using it.
Looping doesnt ruin the game experience because you have 3 other targets, and it's very likely that if you switch to someone else you will get them.
Camping? Wow, you're hanging on the hook able to do.... nothing.Feel free to link your game footage. I would like to see you "pressure the map by switching targets".

But yea, lets keep balancing around noob survivor, because that worked so well for the last 2 years. When did I say that switching targets = map pressure? The killer meme you mentioned is "lol the other guy will loop me for 5 gens too, so whats the point"
If you get looped for 3 gens you're literal trash, sorry. Truth hurts. It was very much possible back then with more pallets an pallet vaccum but now it's not so easy and doesn't happen if the killer has half a braincell. But yeah of course it's the devs' fault, sorry.
If you can't do that, may YOU are not that good of a survivor.
But hey, reversed logic is always wrong, huh?
Do some basic calculations about chases and you will find out.
Of course that only works if you use realistic numbers, but in your world survivor get down in 10 seconds, right?
Still funny if people make things up, like non of us would play the game.Playing at rank 1 has shown me a lot about killers, since it's fairly easy to rank-up, trash-tier killers go to rank 1 and then complain on the forums that survivors are too OP. If that's the case, why do I still get actually good killers that know how to apply map pressure and are equally as good in chases? They mindgame, they know their lunges, moonwalks, red light positioning, they don't respect pallets and so on. I'm in no way a killer main, but i'm practicing these mindgames and they work like a charm.
You can't prove that tunneling and camping isn't toxic and unhealthy. They are strategies, but they are one of the big reasons why a lot of people left / took a break and that's saying something.
I haven't seen many posts about people leaving because of looping, which is weird since this is a killer main centric forum. You talk about prove, but call this a "killer main centric forum"; do you have any prove for that?
What kind of "prove" would you accept that "camping and tunneling" isn't "toxic"?
To me it is just playing efficient; go for the weaker target that goes down faster, eliminate targets asap, do not give free unhooks.
The problem is YOU see it as "toxic", because it affects YOU.And I personally know enough former killer mains that quit -either playing different games now or switched to survivor for easier games- because the game is so badly balanced and in favor of survivor. But you won't believe that anyway.

If you want less camping, give the survivor a debuff for every time they got hooked.
Reduced action speed or no fast vaults or reduced movement speed, etc.
Something that would be meaningful.
Right now getting hooked once or twice doesn't do anything. The only way for a killer to really impact the survivor as a team is outright eliminating someone. -

Depending on the gen situation I usually leave that survivor alone unless they are toxic or I keep finding them and just end them for playing bad.
Why would you feel "cheap"?
You worked for that victim on the hook, you beat him, you found him, you chased him, you carried him.
Time to rake in the reward and fight of the pesky wannabe rescuer.
When was the last time you camped a hook and NO ONE showed up?
Survivor make camping viable. You sound like a true survivor player that switch to killer every now and than and plays the entertaining party clown for his buddies.
Actually I expect EVERY survivor to be toxic, because of my experience with them. Either they will be toxic after I showed mercy. Or they get toxic in the after match chat.
Sorry, for those who are nice, but you are the minority.it mostly feels cheap cause you know he was just being farmed, team mates will rarely bodyblock or they do it so half assed. Granted if all the gens are done I will camp one survivor to keep the game going to see if any try to save. Yeah survivors are pretty toxic, I find it humorous at times half of it is annoying complaining. My main issue with survivors is how inconsistent the matches are, you get this ridiculous swf groups all with flashlights doing the gens and just leaving or you get potatoes that dc or die quickly. I still feel like the main villain is the map system, maps are terrible or good depending on rng. I still find like 4 pallets near the same 30m radius

Still you want the killer to get punishes for the survivor making mistakes.
How is that fair? -

I'm looking for a fair compromise between survivors getting tunneled/camped and killers who want to practice this particular playstyle because killer incentives haven't worked and I see more unhooking related buffs incoming (kindred, borrowed time, longer immunity frames). I suggested this since you'd still have a survivor being downed and out of the game, but his team would have a larger window to get that survivor back into the game and follow with the changes the devs have made for healing while downed and would proabably get survivors to get unbreakable/no mither and tenacity more frequently. Granted 30 seconds may be a bit much after a survivor has been unhooked and only while the gens still need to be completed, but the idea is to find another survivor.
The problem is that, to you, a "fair compromise" means that the Survivor gets to fail at hiding and fail at winning the chase - inversely, the Killer succeeded at finding the Survivor and then won the chase - and yet suffers no consequences, while the Killer is actively punished for trying to complete his objective (kill) by being mechanically prohibited from doing so. This would be like if every time you completed a generator, you dropped one health state and were given the Unbroken status effect.
It's the same with the new unhook mechanics.
Survivor get a free exhaustion reset and invulnerability.
So killer get punished by gamemechanics, while the survivor get backed up for making bad plays. -

I didn't say it was fair or logical, I'm just explaining why they complain about the 4 seconds. I've already said that Survivor mains don't want a compromise solution - they just want to have everything their way. See: looping, healing, Self-Care, trapping specific spots, being caught, camping, "tunneling", pallets, hitboxes, windows, NOED.
- Killers demanded the end of looping due to it being low risk, high-reward, which runs contrary to how balanced things should be. Survivors demanded they stayed the same, because they liked the idea of forcing Killers into nigh-unwinnable situations. Killers had to settle for fewer loops, but the core problem of looping remains.
- Killers demanded healing was fundamentally changed because its infinite nature makes hits virtually irrelevant in the long-term. Survivors demanded they stayed the same, because they know being able to take hits without any drawbacks is broken. Killers had to settle for +4 seconds of healing time, but the core problem of healing remains.
- Killers demanded Self-Care be gutted because self-sustain perks like that shouldn't exist in a game where you're meant to be reliant on your team to save your ass. Survivors demanded it stayed the same, because they know it's broken. Killers had to settle for completely irrelevant nerfs - it's still the most-picked perk in existence, and the core problem of SC remains.
- Survivors demanded NOED was removed or otherwise nerfed into oblivion, like so many other Killer perks, because they liked being able to troll Killers at the end. Killers demanded it stayed the same, because they know it's the only tool they have that can give them a chance when the gates are powered and open. It's now the only perk that can be disabled before it even triggers, through no fault of the Killer.
Exactly. If killerstuff gets nerfed, it will get gutted in one nerf.
Survivor stuff only gets babynerfs.
Machinegun build could have been nerfed by making the 2 perks not stack, but instead they gutted both.
SC got like … what? 6 nerfs? And is still the most picked perk in the game.
Anytime killer get a buff, survivor get something in return, but never the other way round. -
Very good ideas.

30 seconds isn't that long and it's an idea to fix a frustrating issue for solo survivors who have already been hooked and downed immediately again, you still have that survivor slugged and out of the game for a timeout this just gives a team time to evaluate saving and killer has to make a choice of camping that slugged body for 30 seconds or do something else and come back.
"Just" 30 seconds??
Survivor almost lost their mind about FOUR seconds increased healing time.
That's almost half a gen done alone.
The survivor could crawl 1/2 a map during that time, making it very hard to "just come back to him later".
You obviously have no clue about timemanagement.Because those four seconds translate into eight seconds since almost all Survivors use Self-Care. Of course, they won't admit that's why they're complaining.
So they complain about 8 seconds… but this guy wants a killer action to be delayed by "JUST" 30(thirty) seconds.
That's almost 4 times the amount.
facepalm -
- As a killer, I see way to many matches that should result in a 1k, that turn into a 3k instead, because of survivor trying to save no matter what. That's one of the reasons the Dev stats are bullcrap. To many survivor rather risk dying than leaving someone behind.
- If the killer got his only kill on the hook: gtfo! No need to further humiliate and bully a killer and trying to rob his only kill. Survivor complain about killer not giving hatch or let the last escape, on the flipside 3 player will rescue and bodyblock if the killer performed weak.

If you get looped however, the survivors are not completely ruining your game unlike the killers that camp. You have 3 other targets + you can mindgame on a lot of loops.
Yea, switch targets, let 'em heal and get looped by the next survivor.
And tell me again, why is looping NOT ruining the killers gameexperience?
Because it is so much fun to do the Benny Hill show, while gens pop?
Or should the killer enjoy playing pig-in-the-middle? -
Like I said, there is no sense in debating with you.^^
Stop losing the survivor.
Stop tunneling.Just break the pallet. XD

Would be nice to see a killer that could shape-shift into an animal for his powerLike this?

Would you rather survivors heal for 32 seconds or 16 seconds? Easy question you keep dodging.
Because I already answered it in length and you ignore it and keep calling me out for nothing.
But ok, just for peace sake:
If you GET healed, it takes 16 seconds and occupies TWO survivor.
If you heal YOURSELF it takes 32 seconds, but only occupies ONE survivor.
2x16 = 32 sec gain for the killer
or
1x32 = 32 sec gain for the killer
But using SC eliminates the need to spent time finding another survivor (and running around moaning and leaving a bloodtrail and risking to bring the killer to someoneelse, etc.) and the other survivor can just keep doing gens.
Me and several other in the forum tried to explain that to you in 3 different threads, but you still don't get it and keep repeating the meme that self care benefits the killer. -

hush You just gave a link to the old thread. I explained everything already, with evidence and calculations and examples. Just reread it. If you keep saying I didn't gave evidence, than you are a liar. Then give your evidence again, telling people to hush because you're wrong doesn't mean anything.
If you can't answer the simple "Would you rather have someone heal for 32 seconds or 16 seconds" then you're very clearly wrong tbh, seems like an easy decision to me.
And yes, I linked a thread that is over a month old that you so confidently told me wasn't a month old.
reread Everything is already explained. Stop lying.
