It's going for you but what about people who just bought the game without half the cast p2 or 3
Then those people still benefit? This change hasn't taken anything away from people.

Yea there was also a slew of things killers report for that aren't reportable, what is your point here?

Good luck with alert against a 3blink nurse, alchemist blight or a endless slowdown Legion with mending simulator… that’s the reason why survivors feel they need the strongest perks. Survivors and killers will always fear the heaviest opponent and try to prevent a chance. That’s reasonable
No, that's BACKWARDS.
"I need these 4 perks to face this Killer" means you are balanced around that metric. That's bad. It creates a reliance.
Drop the perks, let the Killer stats increase, the imbalance becomes noticeable, Devs can adjust accordingly.

It's stale because it's already the same effect as we have on live, only with a make-up job.
Viability is measured as having an impact on gameplay. There's no reason to run 90% of the reworked perks, let alone those that haven't been touched.
Ah, the only "Most perks don't do anything" argument.
Most perks are fine. People have just come to expect Dead Hard / Iron Will / Decisive Strike level of impact.
Learn to live with perks like Alert and Self-Aware and stop expecting the moon.

i know theres a lot of forums and comments on this already, but if they were trying to shake up the meta, why didnt they buff the niche perks? all they did was nerf strong survivor perks and give us close to nothing to replace them with. people would run perks like up the ante, self preservation, etc if they actually did something useful or if they added better general perks. (since killers got a general perk in the last update, when do survivors get new general perks?)
not to mention, with the new bt buff, bt gives you the haste status affect, but what about guardian? is that going to get reworked into something actually useful at any point? there's no reason to now hide their scratchmarks / blood if they're automatically given endurance for a few seconds, if the killer is near them, they're fine and if the killer isn't, they're also fine.
and i mean, did mettle of man and spine chill even need to be nerfed?
You got nothing to replace them with because the power level needed to come DOWN, not UP.

New meta is broken as well and already stale. They actually reduced the number of viable perks to choose from and the viable ones have the same goals of those they replaced, only different names and flavors.
Stale? It's not even live yet. Tens of thousands of players don't even touch the PTB. This is hyperbole.
Secondly, you only think perks are viable/unviable because you are holding them to the standard of the old meta.

I personally consider filters cheating. The game is dark for a reason.

I appreciate your willingness to throw down in a fight that doesn't exist here.
It's the #1 reason reports are not addressed, by the developers own admission. There's a whole chart of things that they posted that read THESE THINGS ARE NOT REPORTABLE and people do it anyways.
Then they come on social media like "DEVS DON'T CARE ABOUT REPORTS!"

I don’t say that nothing has to be changed, especially dead hard. It’s important to make tweaks, buffs and nerfs here and there.
But fact is that in longterm they have to do this meta shake-up over and over again…
YES.

I don't care if they shut down this post. i will expose every ######### hacker and trollmate that i may encounter on the forums. The only way a report can work is by reporting this people massively.
thats all i have to say.
There's a strong chance what you are reporting is not reportable.
Survivor Mains in particularly need to get it through their thick skulls that CAMPING IS NOT REPORTABLE. Good lord, the number of times my end game chat was something like "reported for camping!" is enough to make my eyes roll all the way into the back of my skull.

Are they really AFK, or are they trying to do some challenge that requires them to play weird?

No.
The previous meta was insanely stupid and it needed to die. It's not just about a new meta, the old meta was broken and it had to go. Especially Dead Hard and Iron Will, perks that fundamentally altered the base fabric of the game.
-
I'm inclined to agree. A gen hit with say, Deadlock, is not progressing and the game is stalled but does not undo your hard work.

I actually find landing the skill check more satisfying than it being automatic.

If you need a perk to improve BASIC ATTACK SPEED on a RANGED KILLER you have fundamentally failed at designing a ranged killer.

No, it doesn't. Now it doesnt work at all when exhausted. So saying it "works like before" is not true.
Sounds like an Exhaustion perk problem. Don't run an Exhaustion perk, issue solved.
-
@HelloKitty2022 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3039209#Comment_3039209
No it did not since most survs use exhaustion perks to get away but without IW that will be countered. And as long as they run exhaustion wont be reduced. And it was not "FOOLPROOF". You still need other perks (which costs slots) and skill to get out. Now IW dont work out anymore and will disappear resp. after this destruction you will see only very few survs using it. Maybe players will also leave game. We will see.
People got way too cozy using Iron Will and literally being 1 meter away on the other side of a thin wall. That was the problem. Total deafening should not be a thing.
Also, a perk doesn't suck cause you feel you need another perk. You don't need to run an Exhaustion perk.

When was the last time the devs actually changed a perk on the PTB before bringing it to live servers? They have the bad tendency of turning the live environment into their actual testing grounds. The PTB is just meant to promote upcoming content and see if there's anything which can crash the game. Gameplay balance is very rarely even considered.
Parental Guidance.

Iron Will deserved to be taken out back and shot. It was the most broken perk in the game after Dead Hard.

If you hate the changes, stop playing the game. Taking it out on other players makes no sense. The players didn't make the changes. If I had any say, depipping would be gone, BBQ/WGLF stacks would be basekit, and we'd have real controller settings. But I don't have say, and I'm already miserable enough in solo queue that I'd seriously like to never play survivor again as is.
I just don't get it. I've never enjoyed standing around a hook as killer. That's not really playing a game. Even Animal Crossing has more action than that, and better still the campers there will have conversations with you.
I just don't get it. I've never enjoyed looping around a pallet as survivor. That's not really playing a game.

To stop dead harding for distance, the animation will need to immobilize the survivor. Otherwise they'll just walk through the pallet, camp the pallet, and drop it on the killer's head the very instant that they're permitted to.
I'm concerned this exactly what is going to happen.

They did not give a reasoning. For the record, I am not saying it is not a good change. I am just saying it is one of the rare times the devs actually directly responded to a request and flat out said no.

My hope is that the new Dead Hard's animation is incompatible with interactable actions.

Endgame countdown begins. Killer loses collision. Survivors within 4m of the killer gain endurance for t seconds. Does not apply to Kill Your Friends.
This brings the game to a close, gives the killer a chance against stealthy survivors (find hatch first and patrol gates), and gives the bodyblocked survivor a chance to take a speed boost hit to find hatch (or to a safe loop until the exits are open in the case of multiple survivors).
I can respect the decisiveness of this answer.

get screwed out of the special reward.
Special reward? Sorry, what special reward? An icon in the endgame screen? Are you mad?
You thought that an exclusive free skin was not enough to make you prestige but a slightly different icon in the endgame screen does the deal for you? I'd like to hear the reasoning behind that
If anything you should feel relieved that you're getting all the stuff that came with prestiging without any of the downsides. Think about all the event items and offerings you still have, think about all the bloodpoints you didn't waste and then compare them to a slightly different icon
The reasoning behind that is that the bloody cosmetic is worthless if you actually have a cosmetic you want to use for the character. What POSSIBLY reason did I have for getting bloody clothing on default Meg, who looks like a dumb pastiche of Pippi Longstocking, when I can have her wear much better clothing?
-
@TheSpectre said:
Here's what i know right now, i hope (exactly i fear) i understood everything correctly:
All characters on P3 before the update will receive some kind of icon. Ok, that seems some kind of useless reward for the grind - remember the grind was: doing at least 3x50 bloodwebs to reach P3, while loosing all perks and unused addons/offerings after each step.
Chars not on prestige are now forced to prestige because of a special bloodweb, but they retain all perks and addons/offerings while gaining a prestige level. So this isn't any disadvantage.
Now what really bothers me: you said that you'll give free prestige levels to chars depending on the number of perks they have. So people that never prestiged get the prestige for free now and keep their stuff.
If this are the facts i think this special icon doesn't reward you for going the hard way (like legacy did long ago), it just flags you as a fool for wasting your time and loosing your stuff.
I have 9 characters right now I never prestiged because I had no interested in the bloody cosmetics. These characters have EVERY SINGLE PERK IN THE GAME AT PURPLE TIER.
How stupid do you think I feel right now? My options are throw it all away, or get screwed out of the special reward.

Doesn't need to be justified. Just wanna know why pick this killer, play the same expected way and just make the game a horrible time? Can you not pick another killer and do the same, gotta pick the easiest killer to be lame with?
If you just like playing like a meanie, own that! And I am not judging as my Killer style is to not to hold back either. But the way Bubbas play...I don't see how that's fun for either side. That's why I'm trying to see more into the minds of these players. Cuz other killers are clearly playing to win too, but the way EVERY SINGLE Bubba goes about it is just stale as all hell.
When I play Bubba it is because I find using the chainsaw fun. Especially if you are not injured, because then you cannot use your god damn Dead Hard. Go directly to floor, do not collect 200 dollars.
The sentence you need to stop uttering is "Not fun for both sides".
The hell its not!
It is HILARIOUS watching someone panic, drop them with the saw, hook them, then hide around a corner with Insidious and wait. Then some knucklehead comes down the stairs, and out we go with HURR HURR HURR and mow you down. My god, it is so funny I almost fall out of my chair sometimes.
Hate it if you want, but to say it is not fun for either side is just objectively wrong. It's a blast!
There are hours and hours and hours of SpookNJukes doing Basement Bubba Tuesdays you can watch to see how much fun it can be.

Solo survivor is hard as is but now?? its literally unplayable.
5 second BT?! are you serious... when was the last time you guys played this game? killers already waited for 8 - 10 seconds for BT for ware off and you expect them to go away because of 5 seconds??? HOLY SH-
DS got nerfed but why? I thought it was good in its current state? i guess not since BHVR WANTS players to continue camping & tunneling
I cant believe BHVR tricked the whole community to be hyped & to stick around for these (NOT) amazing changes.
after 6 years this game has proven it cant keep or maintain the player base instead BHVR feeds off the new and incoming waves of players.
so glad our support & feedback is valued greatly
congrats BHVR, pretty good job so far. this update will surely keep the player base :))
There was literally a section called "Camping and Tunnelling" in the notes. Did you even read it?

@Orochi said:
Like...WHY. WHY are you all such yucky players? I understand we all want to win but...HOLY crap. I end every match against y'all drenched in sweat, and not one drop of it is even my own.
So please, what's the scoop? Just that it's a meme at this point to be a sweaty, tunneling facecamper as Bubba, so why not join the crowd? That it's expected you're going to be an unrelenting puppet for the Entity's sadistic voyeuristic pleasures, so might as well get the most views?
I think I have had two semi-enjoyable games against a Bubba in the last 4 or so however many years playing this game. ALWAYS toxic. Have I won some of these games? Sure. But it has never been fun and DAMN if it almost seems like that is the goal of these people; not even to care about winning, but just to ensure that everyone has an absolute MISERABLE TIME.
Also see: Hag players
I know this really hard for people to understand, but you don't have to justify how you play to other people.
When I play Bubba, I don't need your permission for my playstyle. If I wanna camp you, I will. If I wanna chase you, I will. Depends how I feel. But what does NOT influence is how YOU feel. Because Survivors don't give a damn about Killer fun, or Killer feelings, and never have. While they do not HAVE to, it is weird they expect that in return but give no respect of their own.
-
Iron Will was bullshit and it deserved the double nerf.
-
@Akito said:
Instead of making perks with an cool idea legit and strong they nerf good and legit perks just to change the meta?
Not recognizing that people choose "meta perks" because they are good at what they should do?
Take Detectives Hunch. When it was released no one was playing it because it was bad af. Nowadays it's good and you can add so much coordination to a solo team.
or Windows of Opp. What it was released it was so bad and boring. Now it's legit. It's good and fun to play.
so WHY are they killing them? Iron Will. Iron Wil lwas asbolutely fine and so fun to play. And they nerf it because they don't like people having fun with it? Or Spine Chill? They removed a perk from the game (technically) just to "change the meta".
We asked you to change the meta in order to change perks or buff the idea of a perk so it becomes playable.
Lets take a random perk: Solodarity. Why is no one playing it. Because it's bad. Because it's boring. If it would increase the speed you heal others by lets say 50% or 75% way more people would like to play this perk. Because it adds an dynamic playstyle. Making things faster, more efficient.
We'll make it. The Killer can still be ut of TR and still make it back to the hook and chase the unhooked. If it was like 300% for like 20 seconds way more people would like to run it because the incentive of the perk would actually work out. The live-version doesn't work and perks like BT instead are working out.
I hope you take back the Iron Will/ Selfcare / Spine Chill changes. It doesn't makes any sense. If you want new meta perks then make boring, weak and unworthy perks worth it to run them. But telling people how to play the game and nerf playstyles just because people like playing certain ways is NOT okay.
"Iron Will was asbolutely fine and so fun to play. "
The hell it was. Iron Will was an absolutely broken perk and deserved the kick it got. It has nothing to do with "nerfing fun". You are upset that you can no longer completely shut off the audio component of the Killer while Injured and do not see how maybe that is a bit much. How would you like it if the Killer ran a perk that made them Undetectable anytime you were Injured, for the entire time you were Injured? You probably wouldn't think that was very fair.
-
All I wanted out of a nerf to Decisive Strike was making it so Survivor trolls could not mock you in the endgame near the exit gates. I got that. I see no reason to squeeze the stun down to 3 seconds.
-
@Nick said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3007877#Comment_3007877
No I dont want to juice anyone.. I just want to be able to chase everyone multiple times. Instead of me standing next to the hook or tunneling someone out because its more efficient. I want to be all over the map, chasing, hitting. As a survivor I want to be able to rescue someone, maybe even heal someone. Instead of me walking up to the hook and seeing a Billy standing there, creepily staring at the hook. I WANT INTERACTION! I don't want to sit on a gen all game because someone is getting facecamped. I want to get chased, I want to go down, I want to get unhooked, I want to be able to heal, I want to be able to unhook others, I WANT TO GET CHAAAAAAAASED!!!
You know that getting chased is not an Objective, right?
-
Everytime someone talks about "being interactive", they mean juicing the killer in longer chases.
Why the hell would killer players want LONGER chases? It's bad enough that Survivors expect them to it a MINIMUM of TWELVE times, flashlight saves and wiggle outs nonwithstading.
Now you want LONGER chases?
How EXACTLY are you gonna sell that pitch?
