  • It’s terriable experience, typically night gaming and weekends are fully of SWFs, They usually destroy me. I’m not a good killer. The question is why do I need to face them....

Come to PS4. Nobody does gens here and everyone dies in 10 seconds.

    which region?

Because you are a killer and that is sorta what I have to do. Actually I never blind killers as I have never tried to learn to do flashlights well...but if I could I would. But drop pallets on you and break your hooks...oh yeah...for sure I'll be doing that. Had sabo and a killer (the deathslinger) was carrying the survivor and broke the hook right in front of his face...it was in a word...priceless.

    @toxcitynacl said:

"The Nurse is an unfun and boring killer to play now, and when playing the survivor, playing against the reworked nurse feels boring, instead of exciting from the old nurse." Not at all because you can often with an unskilled nurse literally run them into the ground...how is that not fun?

And ruin...killers were constantly crying about how useless it was as good players could do gens anyway and the hex was found in less than 30 seconds anyway and now after the rework...ruin was the only thing that made killers viable and now we'll just have to quit the game. So what is it? Was it trash or a god-tier perk because I am really confused as to which. If you needed ruin to be successful you just weren't all that good.

Your statement would be valid if survivors wouldn’t rely on DS, Deadhard combos, many of them just good because of those perks. You fail to understand that ruin helped killers (Myers, Trapper, Hag, etc) who have no early game pressure at all. I’m having difficulties to understand why is it a shame to be bad in a video game? I think you should rather start asking why those killers need to go into matches where they don’t even have a chance for a draw...

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

Here we go again. Just a killer that obviuosly cant play the game properly and has a huge lack of game sense. its gettin boring guys.

Do you hate killers? I observed your comments are mostly negative and provocative toward killers.

  • Mostly yes, but when you are in a chase, you need to give up the chase or you know that gen is lost. Unfortunately many killers can't be in two places the same time. If I can't chase off people from the gen and down an other survivor in the same time.

  • @Reborn2020 said:

    Take discoordance. Git gud.

I think if anything killers need a nerf :(

you guys get your 4Ks way too easy in my opinion due to laggy unfair hits and piss poor map design on some maps. You’re gonna get somebody every game. Idk why that means game over for that guy though 😰 that kinda pisses me off as a consumer. If it’s easy for you to catch people they should be giving you more chances. None of this Mori crap. Some killers just catch you off guard or cut the corner tighter than you 😂 I mean.... as if camping hooks wasn’t bad enough they throw in Mori so you should probably just DC you know? Like that’s really how some people feel. Idk what there is to complain about on killer side THAT often. Some killers are just better than others at map control. Others just benefit more on certain maps. But I don’t think you should be complaining about a perk nerf 😂 Ruin isn’t really fair either. Otherwise you’re essentially allowed to gen patrol hard and they just can never get done. Especially with the toolbox nerf. You got thanatophobia out there, all these other perks that sync with it..... ehhh. I think a nerf is the least of your worries

    lol

  • Wow I really appreciate the throughout explanations and hints. I assume it takes months to embrace her...

  • @mouse0270 said:

Well starting off, your not supposed to win, your supposed to tie, as in 2 kills and 2 escape. I believe the devs have mentioned this is what they expect.

As for rank matching, that one is tougher... because for the most part rank doesn't matter. Yes, better players are going to be red ranks, but to be fair a lot of bad players are also red ranks. They are attempting to resolve that with their new MMR system. But we still have no idea how that will work.

i don’t have much faith in the new match making. There won’t be enough high skill killers to match every high rank SWFs in the lobby. So less skilled killers will be matched with those teams. I think from frustration perspective nothing will change....

I think its the amount of time requires to combat one perk. Running around the map trying to cleanse totems takes time, often get interrupted which resets progress, and you need to find all five.

Its a hell of a lot of work for solo players, id they dont the killer gets turbo speed and unlimited instadowns on M1

The counter to DS for example is just dont pick them up

Also DS gives free escape when the survivor unhooked next to the exit gate. You can't wait 60 sec cause he crawls out....

  • My guess is that at least 30% of the survivors do that. They don't only teabag at the exit gate but also make noise to draw you there. It similar when someone brings a key and they find the hatch (make noise), so they wanna show off. I totally understand your frustration.

  • @illusion said:

Interesting. I will have to try that. i hate trying out new killers because some survivors, especially swf groups can be so toxic. They can't just take their easy win gracefully, they have to harass and abuse.

    I feel you

  • And as the person who opened this discussion said people use it for toxic purposes. The person who escaped stopped at the exit gate to t-bag.

You can counter NOED, you can’t counter DS close to the exit gate. This simple...

  • @oxygen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1028020#Comment_1028020

That's the exact same result as if the injured survivor just escaped though, 1 kill (as I assume you got the person you downed first after the unhooked survivor escaped). If anything it's better as you got some extra BP and chasing for emblems in at the end.

    Yes exactly, just because DS...

  • @Seanzu said:

That's not how it works, additionally how do you "Bully" the killer with DS & BT?

BT is easily countered by going after the unhooker, and DS is easily countered by slugging/chasing someone else, none of this is "bullying".

Stop with the victim complex because survivors use perks you don't like, it's getting absurd now.

This isn't quite true tho. Yesterday in the EGC two survivors were left in the game (the other two escaped). The injured survivor managed to unhook the other survivor. Downed her and chased the unhooked survivor who opened the exit gate in the meantime. I downed her too. I had no other option than to risk DS, otherwise she would have crawled out the exit gate. She had stopped right at the end to T-bag a bit.

I didn't have any option. This is a very similar situation like it was killer body blocking in the basement. These are the second chances what some of the killers complain about.

  • @ZoneDymo said:

Im not against it, but im also not really in favour of it.

Lets ignore that matchmaking and the rank system is broken atm anyway, lets say that works.

My first problem is that there is easier oppertunity for toxic killers to bully baby survivors, imagine rank reset, every killer at lets say, rank 15, now the killer can pick for example Wraith and bully survivors untill rank idk 8? is reached.

Then instead of actively De-ranking, they just switch to the next killer and do it again, for all 18 killers.

To focus more on your suggestions.

point 1 should not be an issue, who cares you would do poorly in a match you are purely playing to learn a new character?

That match isnt about killing survivors, its about experienceing the character, so with Oni I would imagine you M1 a survivor a bit, build the blood and just run around the map trying to get a feel for the Oni.

And if you de-rank because you are just messing around, figuring out how the killer works...so what? heck thats what you wanted with your suggestion in the first place, its not like you get less points at lower ranks, you always GAIN stuff, you never lose it.

So just test it on whatever rank you are, its just for testing out the character, your goals are different.

Point 2, not a bad reason for this suggestion/change honestly.

Point 3, ermm currently nothing is stopping you from doing that, but I guess I should just see this as suggestion 2.5 in which case, yep good reason.

Point 4 Not sure why that would be.

Thanks for your reply. I thought of the bullying factor as well and it's pretty much understandable, maybe for that purpose there could be a de-rank limit. (Rank 10,9,8 whatever)

Let me respond to some of the points/ elaborate them further:

Point 1: You are absolutely right, I just mentioned it, just because the frustration factor

Point 3: Currently if you have more experience with one killer and you make it to red ranks and let's say you switch to an other killer, there is a huge chance you will be destroyed. I think there are viable and non-viable killers. If someone really plays with win in their mind, they would like to have a chance against any survivors/SWFs. Maybe this is just me, but when I get destroyed for 3-4 times in a row cause I played Clown, Myers etc, then my next choice will be a more viable killer for the 5th match.

Point 4: I meant more balanced statistical feedback, there are huge differences between survivors even on red ranks. I believe this would show the players' skill with that specific killer, rather than the players' average skills along with all killers. I think it's different to rank up with Spirit and then switching killer in every other game on red ranks. It's whole opposite to rank up with 6-7-8 different killers and play in red ranks, that way is quite different from skill perspective. Also I think it's easier to draw conclusions if we can see how an average player performs with that killer, and how performs a player who mains that killer. I might be wrong but statistically currently you can't separate players who main a certain killer.

My theory might falls apart, i'm just thinking out loud.

I'm making this post because I'm suffering so badly and just want to reach out. I've never really looked at forums let alone make an account.

I'm losing my mind playing killer. Frame rates on console is beyond frustrating. I deal with survivors using the same meta builds, perks constantly giving them 2nd chances after second chances as I desperately try to just nail a hit. Downing someone isnt even a feeling of accomplishment. The swf, the perks, the items. All of it. All while frame rate is working in their favor in the background. I've recieved so many messages telling me that I'm trash, or a camper, or should uninstall when i dont even think they were even good. Frame rate on this game has made me consider rage quitting, throwing my controller, and uninstalling. Ruin use to help me get something worth while but now every gen is done in under 5 minutes. I have survivors that just mess with me at that point. I'm rank 6, I go against red ranks all the time. My connection is fine, nat is fine, I have amazing internet. I just wanna know I'm not ththe only one suffering and putting up with this game..

I feel you. I had the same experience with low mobility killers, I feel like it's impossible to win with them. Of course survivors aren't helpful with their behavior. Also my understanding that there was some change around Oni's flick, however It's pretty much the same. To be honest at this point I wouldn't mind a rank reset for killers only, because it seems my current skill level is around level 15 without ruin when I play low mobility killers. That means I have to depip 50 times to get to that rank...

  • It think it’s childish to send a message like that. The other day a survivor added me on ps4 just to tell me ‘EZ genrushed ‘ and I was with an anti heal build legion. Sometimes I ask survivors why they t-bagged, cause I want to understand if I have done something insulting.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Survivors can't dodge if they see something they don't like. The only options available to them are to ruin the match for their 3 mates or just suffer through it.

It's called death on first hook... Actually it's the opposite killers can't do anything if they see something they don't like. They have to stay in the game and if the survivors refuse to repair gens their only option to AFK. If you are get tunneled or camped at least you can finish the game quickly.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I actually ran into a bunch of these guys as well and it's very annoying, and makes the legit concerns less likely to be taken serious.

Thee guys had trolly anti ruin names, took offerings for maps they knew all the totem spawns on and would track it down and break it immediately, then with engineer toolboxes and would gen rush like mad.

If you get people like this just disconnect from the game; anytime there is a disconnect the match doesn't get used for research purposes, it disqualifies it negating their entire reason for trolling in the first place. So just do that.

Sounds like SWF on live servers

  • @DeadArsenal said:

No they have to rely even more on random chance to get a reasonable amount of time to down all survivors 3 times assuming Survivors aren't packing multiple perks that allow them to gain a health state, recover from slugging, take an extra hit, and/or get out of a grab in some circumstances. Taking Ruin had nothing to do with a Killer's "skill" and everything to do with how the structure of the game is gamed very easily. Gen rushing remains king and the new Ruin does nothing to stop this.

At its root Hex:Ruin was nothing more than a way to spend a perk slot to gamble for an extra 35 seconds to 4 minutes of time. At red ranks it was all but necessary for many killers to remain viable. You say "apply map pressure" but you're under the mistaken impression that killers weren't doing this before. Applying pressure is something you learn in brown ranks and apply forever. You don't even make it into green unless you're capable of applying pressure so don't give me any BS about Killers not knowing how to use a basic part of the game.

You can't put pressure on an SWF gen rush unless you are very lucky. It is not a consistently applicable skill. It's guesswork. You can not comb the map for survivors while keeping them all off the gens on maps are too large and the gens are too far apart. If you fail to guess properly the Survivors already have more control over the match than you ever will even without perks that allow them to escape or take extra hits.

I agree with everything you said

  • @Lucama said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/974500#Comment_974500

While true, the issue comes down to the fact that a killer can only keep 1 survivor off a gen most of the time, 2 if they're going for a save. And against good survs gens will just blast out at the same rate as they do against anyone not running ruin.

I totally agree, I'm wondering what's going to happen with killers who needed ruin so much to build up pressure, like Myers, Hag, Trapper, Huntress, Clown etc. Corrupt intervention will help us to find survivors, but it won't stop genrush.

  • Yeah, I just made assumptions. The 50% sounds good but I think we will see the huge benefit if survivors won’t touch the gen for long and they at least completed the 30-40% of the repair. Maybe we will see a huge potential if survivors 3 gen themself, but I might be wrong. If this wouldn’t be a hex perk i would be more optimistic.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

The new ruin doesn't seem bad at all

I feel if this was a perk just added to the game people would be excitted for it

It combo's well with other perks and just is a more fun perk overall

It's the fact that they have to trade old ruin for it that people are mad about

It sounds fun, but there are two issues. From now on you need two perks to make one perk viable. Ruin was almost a standalone perk to slow early game down, while it lasted. Secondly it is still a hex perk, which means it can be destroyed within few sec. In addition you just need to work on the gen for 2 sec to know the killer has this Perk.

  • @Mert_MK said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/973800#Comment_973800

So just because i dont struggle playing against those perks like u do, makes me a survivor main and therefore my opinion invalid huh?

    Haha, git gud.

Which perks do you find difficult to play against as a killer?

  • On a huge map you won't be able to chain stab survivors. So basically it won't effect them as much.

  • This isn't about getting good. There are certain killers who just simply can't apply the same pressure. There are many killers whose pressure is very situational. For example Myers, or Legion. In addition you can't have two perks for each category. From now on pressure will depend on which map you are playing with which killer...

  • @CrummyCookie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/973538#Comment_973538

Nah I made the amount a couple months ago but I'm sick of killer mains not seeing how good they have it. You can't get tunneled and face camped, you have the power to end someone's game and be toxic. All survivors can do is croutch a couple times in a row and apparently they makes us toxic

This game would be a pretty bad if the killer couldn't end someone's game.

  • @Nameless said:

How does one apply pressure to all 4 survivors exactly? Especially at the start of the game?

Survivors should spawn next to the killer at the beginning of the trial :D

  • I think having rank 21-25 with different rules is a good idea. Maybe new needs to spend a certain hours of playing as a survivor before they can hit rank 20 where actually ranking starts. Any survivors and killers who already hit rank 20 can’t derank below rank 20. I would even consider to have partially separate rank for each killer, since playing clown and playing nurse are a whole lot different and requires different skills and mechanism.

  • @feechima said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/966778#Comment_966778

I'm not talking about that which is smart and deters hook rushing, I also see clowns do that before picking up someone who may have DS .I'm talking about standing in front of you and hitting you with all tonics, reloading and then hitting you with even more tonics. I had a clown do that to me after downing me with NOED. He even knew where to stand in my FOV right before the entity takes you so there was a close up of him grinning. I sent him a message of GG after the game even though it was one of the worst games I have ever played in dbd.

    I get you now

  • @feechima said:

Same reason killers hit you on hook, smack pallets you failed to drop, or hooks before they put you on it, shake their head when they down you or spam hatchets, tonics, and chainsaws on your hooked body. Because they can and it is fun for them or it is a taunt or they saw someone they admire do it. I used to get really tilted because I play really nontoxic. I may have teabagged a killer twice in the nearly two years since I started playing this game. Best thing to do is to get used to it and not let it affect you or it will carry over into the next game and make you a bitter player.

Sometimes I throw tonics on the hooked survivor, but only because I assume a survivor is hiding around the hook. This way if they go too early for the safe I will know.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/964084#Comment_964084

Hypothetically if kills are how you judge overperforming, what if this said killer gets no kills all game and is only getting those "more kills 70-80% of time" in the duration of end game from having NOED after all the gens are powered. That is giving him kills but has absolutely nothing to do with how strong the killer was.

This is just one of many reasons why kills is a highly inaccurate way of determining over performance.

I agree, I had a game few years ago where the killer was an Oni, 3 of us completed the last gen, but he had NOED, eventually only one guy survived. I would say he was struggling through the whole game.

  • @underlord99 said:

I know not all of you do it but what's the point ? are you trying to be jerks and rub it in my face that I couldn't find you because you were hiding the whole time ?

I wanted to ask the same question. When I play killer and I know the survivors are the exit gate I just don’t go there. They either wait 2 min. or they try to make noise to t-bag that way. I wish I would have blood warden and NOED for those games. I don’t think so this kind of behavior facilitate community health.

  • I’m having difficulties to understand that one day I play amazing, 3-4 kills for 5 games, then the other day I have 1 kill over 5 games... whether my skills deteriorated over a night, or I played against different survivors... DBD is super hectic from this perspective

    Lol this is funny actually.

  • This matchmaking was bugging my mind as well. I’m around rank 3-4 as a killer. I don’t consider myself as a good killer, so it’s kinda annoying that 70% of my matches are all about t-baggers, flashlight clicking, pointing at me, pallet breaking simulation. I don’t mind losing, but sometimes I feel like I don’t even has a chance to win, and all the t-baggers at the exit gate are just underwhelming and making it more stressful. So basically this raised a few questions in me. If I am not good enough, then why do I need to face these high skilled survivors/ swf groups? Or to flip around, the survivors/ swf groups whom I can kill easily... why are they at same rank as me?

  • Unfortunately I play on console and I wouldn’t change my setting just because of few maps, but I appreciate the advice tho.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

Yeah just take out every stealth aspect the game has left.

There is a difference between stealth and physically not seeing survivors. One requires skill the other one just a dark cloth.

  • Unfortunately I like to play all killers and few games ago the Sanctrum of Wraith was terrible with Legion

  • I appreciate the quick feedbacks

  • If AFK is reportable, then how can a killer give up the match? I mean survivors can easily kill themself on the first hook. What would be a viable solution for killers to give up a match?

  • I personally don’t think those killers should be punished for that. There are certain games where you run into bullying, teabagging survivors and maybe you don’t want to entertain them as a killer, but you don’t want to disconnect either.
