  • Actually, I play on a tv. Its one of those old mid-gen sorta-but-also-kinda-not flat-screen samsung t.v.s. still, its relatively large (and theres a crack on the right side, but luckily it doesnt split the icons.) I do sit back while I play though, so I dont have to crane my neck or anything.

Can I ask what size your monitor is? This isn't meant dismissively, it's where the main issues stem from. The bigger one's monitor, the less effective the new UI is because you have to flick your eyes across the screen for information that before was in one place. And while, yes, you flick your eyes over the screen while playing, you do it in a different way, so to speak

    problem is:

You can NOT track how often someone's been hooked on killerside. you only get a total of hooks there. When you have more than one person play the same character the portraits are pointless.

    And by all means:

These things are NOT the problem. They are a rotten cherry on top. The issue people have with the new UI is the layout. It's a mess without any rhyme or reason.

The only problem I have with the layout is how out of the way the remaining objective counter is. Other than that its not so bad to me.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Good for you. The new animations are not worth the hitbox problems and the UI gives me a headache due to how spread everything is. Also killer does not see who has been hooked how many times.

No but he's got the counter, and that helps in tandum with the icons.

  • I like the oni one. And legion gets a neato jacket.

Would be nice to remove ranks all together, although I suppose MMR + rank purely for BP rewards is a step in the right direction

Exactly. The BP gains would (hopefully) entice the sweatier players to stay in ranked, and altered rules would counteract some of the more tryhard tactics on both sides.

See, and matchmaking isnt just terrible for Killer, but for survivor too! This only reinforces my statement. Thank you.

  • Strange, considering i was playing shrouded ghostface and some one was actively using it to emote and teabag at me from across the map.

  • Basically, this is what OoO should be. A bane and boon of equal parts. Survivors with OoO should a) Only be able to use it if they ARE the obsession, b)Be unable to see the aura's of Killer's currently under the undetectable status effect, and c) only have it active if the Killer is also looking directly at them.

As it stands you can just see the killer whenever and not even have to be the obsession.

  • I see something different

  • You're too sensitive. This stuff shouldn't bother anyone. Grow up.

  • Im not at all blaming them for winning, this seems to be a misconception. Im just confused as to why they win and then absolutely HAVE to be super toxic about it, the teabagging, the emote spamming, the rude post game messages.

If Spirit, Hag and Nurse are in the S tier, I would personally put him somewhere in the A tier. He's really strong, but there is enough counter play so it doesn't become too oppressive. (Also I play on PC, he is probably much lower for Console players)

So much lower. Im a killer main with a ton of hours, and I just struggled for about six matches trying to complete the ritual for downing with lethal rush.

  • Yes. The unhook must occur within the terror radius. Not the lullaby, mind you, but the terror radius.

  • What, you mean none of you guys want that weird looking opera-yodeling ladyboy from RE 0?

In all seriousness though, I could see a tyrant with nemesis/Mr.X/Mendez skins.

  • As a killer I must agree. Looping gets tedious real fast. Either you chase soneone around a loop and get a hit or mind game and get a hit, but usually if its the first hit they just beeline for the next loop. Its not hard to catch people. Just repetitive and unstimulating.

I wouldn't take it too hard on OP. He genuinely doesn't seem to know and I wouldn't blame him considering demo came out a long while ago and you barely see him be played.

Survivors don't see an inactive portal. Demo can only place inactive portals on the ground and it gets activated only if it's used. When it is used, survivors can seal the portal. Survivors on or near an active portal will be oblivious (you can't hear killer's TR) and demo can track you as long as you are on it. Portal in it's inactive state is pretty much used only for travelling.

I Play Demo all the time and I genuinely did not know this.

wait so you want to punish a killer for camping because you teammates are doing unsafe unhooks? Or just more point because you got caught and lost? You already stated the killer is going to lose BP and probably lose the match. How long did the killer chase you? How many gens are left? Is your entire ream circling the hook? How about don't get caught. you should not get extra points for losing.

Its not about punishing the camper per se. I suppose the title is a bit poorly worded. Its more about preventing 20+minute que times for survivor ending in an unlucky hook camp through negatove reinforcement. At the same time, we can all agree face camping is a toxic thing to do, so we should do everything in our power to teach bad killers that face camping simply isnt the way.

  • Evil Within maybe? Ruvik might have something like Freddy involving pulling someone out of the game and into another realm, resulting in punishing effects for the survivor.

@UncleStabby seems eager for a pig rework as well, so I thought it would be nice and fun to create a thread about it. I have been playing and enjoying a lot of pig and wraith lately which explains why I like posting threads for them. We should all put our minds together and try to see what we can come up with for the Pig. Sorry if this has become repetitive, but I really think

First, let me lay down the basics. The Pig has Reverse Bear Traps (RBTs) to slow down survivors and stealth to sneak up on survivors. The ambush can be used in a chase and get some pretty nasty hits if you know what you are doing.

So her RBTs are for the slowdown, and her ambush for stealth and chase potential.

    What are her strengths?

    • Her ambush; Can be used in some tiles to get hits you otherwise would not have normally.
    • Her stealth; Using it and then uncrouching to gain initial distance on survivors working on gens to get a hit is pretty nice.
    • Her RBTs; Can slow down the game because it encourages survivors to get them off instead of doing generators.
    • Her low skill cap; She doesn't require too much skill to play. Her ambush is actually really easy to use, like oni's special attacks you just have to feel it out over a game or two. Anyone could play her and do just fine.
    • Her height; her height allows her to mind game at a few more loops. Not exactly game-changing, but it is a strength.

    What are her weaknesses?

    • No special ability for map mobility. (worse on certain maps)
    • The RNG aspect to her power.

What is her unique strength?: What I mean by this is what ability does the Pig have that no other killer does? Her RBTs of course. Her RBTs can slow down and pressure survivors off of generators without her being in a chase with them. People seem to overlook this incredible ability of the Pig, and for a good reason (the RNG aspect to her traps). A survivor with a trap is heavily encouraged to focus on the trap rather than generators.

So we have a killer who has built-in slowdown and better chase potential than the average killer. But what is holding her back from being higher on the tier list? (probably B tier).

The RNG aspect of her traps is what holds her back. The amount of slow down you will get can fluctuate massively throughout games. You could slow down survivors for the whole game and kill everyone with ease, or you can have them get the trap off on their first attempt and have them tbag you at the exit gates. It feels bad man.

So this is where we all can come in. It might be challenging, but I think we can come up with a balanced concept of the Pig's possible new power (mainly the RBT part). We have to take away the RNG aspect while still allowing the Pig to pressure survivors without being in a chase.

I will see if I can come up with an idea tomorrow and post it here.

Also, we know that the devs will probably not work on the Pig for a really long time if at all. What is a small temporary buff or change you would give to the Pig that would help in the mean time?

Mine is to always guarantee that the first jigsaw box searched will never get the trap off.

Accidentally deleted my own comment. Rip. But yeah, she needs a rework, no doubt.

@Blueberry is absolutely right though, the RNG isn't exactly what's holding her back. The trap needs to induce more panic, generate more stress than it currently does. There are tons of ways to do this, of course (Such as even inactive traps preventing survivor escape until removed, for example.)

I cannot say this enough. A pig rework is HIGH on my priority list for needed changes in this game. (Thanks for the name-drop by the way, makes me feel loved)

RNG for traps is horrible, but like @Blueberry said, its not what's holding her back.

I guess the biggest problem with the RBTs is that they don't generate enough STRESS. I feel like it should be a game changing thing to have on placed on your head. I want it to instill true panic in a survivor, which would not only make her power more worthwhile, but also align more with Saw's deadly theme.

All of those red rank killers didn't start there. Lots of matches were lost on the way there. In fact for me, matches run together so I evaluate my day as a whole instead of a per match basis.

Try to roleplay if you need to. What would motivate your character, what would they do? That helped me.

(Also keep in mind a lot of survivors play to die and get upset if you don't take your games seriously.)

This guy knows what's up. One of the things that helped me starting up was really getting into the killer mindset. I started with myers, so did my best to be a jumpscare sometimes, a creepy far off watcher at others, and an unrelenting chaser. It helped me a lot to have more fun than stress.

  • Love seeing people play Jeff, Dwight is always a goofball and a welcome sight.

Jake just kinda radiates this tryhard personality, not sure why, most of them tend to be bad.

The only survivor I hate to see is Claudette, because I know that once I do see her, I'm never gonna see her again.

  • @ChurchofPig said:

Most killers don't care about how many bloodpoints survivors get, if killers did care they wouldn't face camp. Second, I think just having a different score event that's also called distraction that's worth more would work better than the normal distraction score event. Most killers that face camp will also face camp regardless because they know that some survivors are not smart enough to just do the gens.

Well, The hope is that this increased score will lead to people learning to do gens instead of unsafe unhook.

  • Adopting a new strategy would help you. Try spinning him out near walls and obstacles, such as stationary props, lockers, generators, and hooks. The tantrum makes him stationary and gives you time to get a ton of distance.

  • Here's a tip: Don't. Its not worth the pain.

Yeah, Ive had a few ideas for others, so I might draw them, too.

  • Idea: Secret Offering that traps a generator, once it gets touched it explodes, removing it from the match and setting any nearby survivors on fire!

  • I wouldn't exactly blame the Survivors for this. Poor matchmaking effects them just as much as it effects you. They're used to killers with 1000+ hours that have crazy intimate knowledge of the game at rank 1 harrasing them efficiently at gens. You have to remember that they don't know your rank until end game stats screen pops up.

  • Turn off your crossplay and turn on your punctuation. That might help.

The timer is the problem with DS. I understand the perk is suppose to be anti-momentum but how is it anti-momentum when survivor's are going out of their way to abuse the perk? How is it anti-momentum when it rewards survivors for playing dumb or making a bad read?

It only rewards them if the Killer lets it. So for the bajillionth time... SLUUUUUUUUUUG. Or just eat it and take away a whole perk. The fact is, any survivor who is slugged, in a chase, or self-caring/healing is not doing a generator, which is a good thing.

  • @Kalinikta said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1891404#Comment_1891404

That is a great way to showcase the fact that you did not bother looking at the video. OhTofu did not get hit by it, because he was forces to slug them to ensure not to be hit, even though he already hooked another player and at a later stage took the risk, because he knew he was far enough ahead to be able to eat it. The fact is that he had to deal with DS, because he was playing to well. This is what I pointed out and, you called him a tunneler. If you know how to deal with looping , when to drop chase, utilize your killer properly, punish mistakes made by survivors good enough... you will be always defined as a tunneler, by your definition.

This showcases that DS is overpowered in comparison, because good killers that aren't tunneling still receive the punishment. Not to mention that good survivors are able to weaponize it and abuse it.

You claim to be as good as someone as OhTofu, you will be a tunneler and therefore why would it matter if you just take the short cut to it and actually tunnel? Survivors will complain regardless.

1: Never once did I call him a tunneler. 2: Again, this discussion is not about the definition of tunneling. 3: He still won despite having had DS used against him because he knows how to play the game. You don't have to be as good as him to know how to play the game. He came across the same survivor quickly, so he made the decision to eat it, and after that, the match only went uphill. You're just mad because you don't have the capacity to deal with this honestly overrated perk.

  • @Massquwatt said:

I'll keep saying but make DS deactivate when you go into a closet, I've been testing it lately but I've ran into closets after being unhooked without using DS and killers will either stand there and wait the 60 seconds or completely leave me alone despite the fact that I don't even have DS. If the mere idea of the perk itself is able to completely change somebody's playstyle then you gotta admit that the perk is pretty powerful where just faking it out in a closet is enough to deter somebody from leaving you alone. Don't even get me started on people who run DS AND inner strength and run into closets, that's even more dumb.

That sounds like its the Killer's fault. DS has a huge negative stigma around it thanks to whiny "the game isn't easy enough" killers, and its honestly gotten out of hand.

  • Dwightstache, hands down.

Id make it thirty seconds but pauses in chase, and goes 3x slower while slugged.

Good idea. Im not sure about thirty. Maybe go halfway between current 60 and 30 at 45 or so? Maybe 40. I like your idea to pause it in chase, plus the slug slowdown. Makes it fair to both sides. Well done.

  • @Kalinikta said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1889863#Comment_1889863

The win of course cannot be attributed to the fact that OhTofu has thousands of hours in the game and a good killer. That such a killer still needs to deal with DS because he is playing well and not tunneling. You know good killers need to be punished and play around DS, not because DS is broken... no them downing others and hooking them, punishing bad/bold plays of survivors is a clear indication that they are a filthy tunneller.

Thank you for proving that being considered a tunneller means you are a good player, that dealing with DS means you did well... just look at OhTofu, he is at the level that it isn't even his choice anymore... so it must be the best way to play.

Way to take things way out of proportion. My point wasn't that you need to tunnel to be good like Ohtofu. My point was that you can still take a hit from DS more than once and win a match. Thousands of hours or not, it all comes down to knowing how to deal with loops, utilizing your Killer properly, and knowing how to recognize and drop an unhealthy chase for later.

  • @ulquiorra_cifer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1889653#Comment_1889653

Its not a lack of patience when you aren't able to have a minute long counter for 4 people at the same time. If I am not tunneling, I should not be hit by ds. That being said, it needs a rework to make it ACTUAL anti-tunnel. Not necessarily a nerf. Id even be fine with them increasing the stun duration to ten seconds if non-tunnelers didn't get hit with it.

I suppose the best way to do that would be to make it only active for the last person hooked, while keeping the timer the same. How would you fix it?

  • @Kalinikta said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/220984/ds-isnt-broken

Yet Killers still come across it when they are good. Go actually watch OhTofu and you will see him slug people and avoid picking them up... because they could have Decisive Strike active as it hasn't been a minute. Are you telling us he is a bad killer now? Usually in these cases he already had another chase and hooked someone else... he is clearly tunneling. TUNNELING VALUE BABY!

    https://youtu.be/pwffjtNsHn4

Watch the Elodie slugged on the floor... and he even mentions DS in his commentary and him having to play around it even though survivors pretty much made a bold play, but imagine killers punishing risky moves and mentions: "This guy might DS me"

He encountered it because he was tunneling, even if not by choice. He still won that match though, so this only reinforces my point that DS is not that bad.

    Thanks for proving me right.

  • @ulquiorra_cifer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/220984/ds-isnt-broken

Only issue with this is that I consistently down survivors too fast. Ive had a lot of matches recently where I hook 3 other people and still get dsed. It isn't fair, because I'm not tunneling.

Maybe you should try a bit of patience. Rapidfire downing and hooking may show your skill, but its not the best way to get points. If you find yourself in that situation, slug that last person.

  • @Hoodied said:

Now you are stuck in a situation where you cannot kill a survivor during EGC cause they have DS active in an exit gate

Tell me, how do I get around DS when they are downed in a gate, I would LOVE to know

If it gets to the point where your only possible kill is a down at a gate that you know has ds, its just better for you to recognize that you've lost at that point. No point getting bent out of shape about it.
