Then you have to deal with the Unbreakabill and DS combo, DS is an overall unhealthy perk, I am not saying its OP or UP, I am saying the perk isn't healthy for DBD as its a table flip perk, this one perk can flip the tides of battle and can confirm a survivors safety in endgame

Unbreakable is a one use only perk, and once again, for the duration of them being slugged before getting up, they are not doing gens which only helps the killer. Plus once DS is ignored, and unbreakable is used, half of their perks are practically useless.

These sound like the gripes of Killers who dont prioritize well.

I had fought a killer that tunnelled me for the whole match, like literally breaking mid chase to get me. (I was using Open Handed, Visionary, Kindred and We'll Make It)

When I confronted the killer about it they said "Bring DS next time idiot".

Yet they wonder why DS is so prominent in the game.

The next match it turns out it was the SAME KILLER from my previous match, but this time I did bring DS, and it also turns out the 3 others have DS too.

We won the match with no one dead and the killer just ranted on how we abused meta perks.

What a douche, you forced me to not use my aura build.

Sounds Like the type of killer that relies on cheap tricks to get ahead. People like that give us a bad name.

I have never had my car stolen, therefore car theft is made up.

Thats not what Im saying. Im saying that DS unbreakable isnt that bad. Its not my fault other killers have such a hard time handling it.

"If you don't tunnel, DS won't activate"

Man lemme tell ya, after hooking another survivor and finding another survivor looking goofy and throwing the whole game out and I grab them when they are unhooking a survivor and I get stabbed in my butt by DS, I don't think I tunneled

Its anti-momentum, which isn't the healthiest perk option for the game however its powerful enough to be a threat before its even active

Again, Keep track of your survivors and slug.

DS isn't anti tunnel, its 60 seconds of immunity, while allowing you to still work on gens, get healed, or even hide in a locker.

    Sure it hasn't.

It doesnt make you immune to slugging.

Some people need to learn to pick their battles. What's the point on arguing with John or Lisa about balance issues on a game they probably spent less than 300 hours playing it, don't care about the competitive aspect to it and don't even play both sides. They have the whole thing figure it out already. Why are you bothering?

There is better things in life into which you can invest your time.

Fair point. I keep offering perfectly valid counters but its always the same chase-the-tail response. Discussion closed.

    Wait really?

You need iron will against spirit?

Damn, than I've been doing it all wrong all the time because I never run iron will.

I was wondering why I escaped so much against her 😂

There is much you can do against her, the only problem a lot of people make is that they keep doing the exact same thing over and over again.

And then complain, reeee spirit has no counter play reee.

Mix things up and get in the head of spirit and you'll do fine.

Yes she is hard, but nowhere near as OP as many say.

She is only OP if you refuse to adapt to a different playstyle.

just as with ruin/undying, you need to adept and approach things a bit differently.

But unfortunately many lack the skill to adept or refuse it (or both), and than whine about perks and killers being OP.

Right? Its almost like most Survivors won't be happy unless every Killer can be dealt with the exact same way. Entity forbid that they be forced to develop less predictable tactics.

That's not really gaining momentum. Don't get me wrong 3 gen builds are strong but they don't rely on building momentum to stall the game. They rely on stalling the game through proximity of the gens, until either the survivors overwhelm the killer or they get so bored/make a mistake that the killer wins. It essentially causes a stalemate. DS would have little to no effect in that case cuz there's no momentum to lose, unless it happens to trigger at an inopportune time.

Honestly, if all killers started doing 3 genning i'd quit dbd completely. Even if my solo queue teammates knows how to counter a 3 gen, it takes so long to beat. Who am I kidding. Solo queue can't even deal with ruin let alone a 3 gen. I assume killers hate doing it too cuz it takes so long to get results even compared to face camping.

Im a bit more patient than that, but I can see how some people can have trouble sticking with it.

    1. don't tunnel - we've come full circle.
    2. slug - i already mentioned this, and it is not a good counter. it is negated by unbreakable and decisive strike still does what it intends to: spare a hook state, which is a a lot more punishing to killer than just being slugged.
    3. eating it is not a counter. it's taking the blow early so it doesn't hurt later, and this is assuming the survivors are bad enough to die very quickly and waste time. in which case, decisive strike won't and shouldn't save them from their bad gameplay.

Didnt you say that you have no problem gaining momentum and getting hooks really quick before DS comes into play? If thats true, then you should be getting early game DS eats left and right. Yum!

Slugging IS a valid tactic to counter DS. Really REALLY think about it. Even with Unbreakable (again, a perk only used once per match and never again), for the remainder of them being on the ground, thats one less person working on gens, which only helps you slow down more.

Also tunneling is going after the same person way too close together. Thats how DS happens. So if they're the only person you see- again, SLUUUUUUG!

If you are having such a easy time giving away 5x4 seconds for free and still be able to come back then you are surely not going against good enough survivors.

Heres the thing though. I never eat all 4 DS. I never end up hitting the same guy in quick enough succession and yet I still get consistent downs and hooks.

  • @Zeus said:

This doesn't take into account that there can be 4 DS's in a match and the time it takes to regain the lost momentum.

If you guys are having such a hard time regaining momentum, then clearly, you're doing something wrong.

Ive said it in this discussion several times but it seems I cant say it enough. 1:Dont tunnel. 2: if it cant be avoided, either A:Slug em, or B: Eat it so they can use it again and move on with your day. It is that easy.

can't tell if you're trolling or serious. no killer perk is equivalent to decisive strike's power. undying is going to be nerfed because it was complained by survivors. pop was nerfed for some stupid reason. decisive strike has been in this game for years and after all the nerfs and rework and buff, it's still overpowered. also, if you think this game is completely centered around countering and outplaying your opponent, then tell me why does decisive strike have no ways to effectively counter other than slugging to avoid it, which also gets countered by unbreakable with decisive strike? seems really hypocritical to me to ignore this fact.

I have faced the DS/unbreakable combo many times, never once has it cost me the match. It sounds to me like you're just a salty player.

when a perk is extremely useful even if you are not using it, that should be enough justification to admit it is badly designed and needs nerfs. personally i am the same, although not because i expect there to be an obsession, but because the perk is gigabroken and completely deletes the tension element of survivor. nothing is interesting about 60 seconds of immortality

"Oh wow, they have something useful! That's OP!" You know what else are useful? Killer powers and perks. All I've come to learn from you guys is that too many Killers expect easy wins in a game centered around countering and outplaying your opponent.

  • @Terro said:

Because it halts the momentum of the killer chaining downs and slowing gens.

Momentum is easy to gain though. A little patience goes a long way, especially if you run a three-genny build like yours truly.

except that suffering can make you lose the match when you were winning.

If you're truly downing Survivors as quickly as you say, then get DSed, then what's stopping you from doing it again, or just slugging for that matter? Theres no reason that Survivor's running it should doom your match.

  • @Zeus said:

DS prevents tunneling? True. But what do you do about survivors who WANTS to get tunneled and hit you with a DS? They can force a hook/gen grab or go inside a locker for immunity while working on their objective without healing. They can just body block you while you are on another survivor and just get up with UB while the other two work on gens and the person you were chasing will be long gone.

I understand that DS is needed. But this version is just overkill and easily abused

I guess you just eat the DS and never worry about it from that Survivor again? If they do that, they're basically giving you their perk. When thats done you can easily catch up again and punish them for it. That little victory is awful puny when you're getting your chest caved in by the entity two minutes later.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

stop associating decisive strike with tunneling. that timer is way too long to say this is just tunneling. and by the way, being good enough to get fast and consistent downs is why people get hit with decisive strike even though they may have downed and hooked 2 survivors before that.

Actually, she was trash upon release. It took them 2 sets of buffs to get her to her peak and then a couple of minor nerfs (that then birthed the infamous MDR+Yakuyoke combo so I'm not even sure that Yakuyoke was nerfed lol) takes us to where we are today.

Ever since the 2nd set of buffs people have been complaining, however a lot of those complaints were overshadowed by the 3/4 blink Ruin Noed Nurse that used to plague red ranks. When Nurse was changed those complaints finally got to see the light of day.

People have been complaining about her since 2-3 weeks after her release. It doesn't take much to get good at Spirit either.

OP, I don't know where you've been but give me that rock because I wish I could ignore things as well as you.

I think they sell this type of rock at Home Depot, but you can't have this one. Its mine. Go get your own.

As for the complaints, this post originated from the fact that, before the recent Undying nerfs, I hardly saw a post pertaining to Spirit being OP, but tons about Undying, now with the Undying changes, the Spirit complaints are everywhere.

And of course its also DS whining (its not that op) and other such nonsense. The original post takes the recent "I hate Spirit" pandemic and uses it as an example as to why this game can't have nice things: because EVERYONE whines, myself included.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1885392#Comment_1885392

It's not just SWF complaining about Spirit dude, most people complain about her because if your in a chase with her and she decides to stand still it's a 60/40 on whether you guess correctly or not if she's phasing, and that's not taking into account that you might be injured and at that point your probably screwed.

Most SWF and solo Survivors I've seen are completely fine with the other high tier killers like Oni, Blight, Nurse, Huntress, and Hillbilly. If you don't mind explaining to me, what's spirit's counterplay? Because from what I've seen most of the "counterplay" is just guessing or being "unpredictable" and isn't consistent. Using Iron Will is nice against spirit but using a perk just to counter 1 killer out of 22 killers isn't consistent and can be countered by Stridor. Being "unpredictable" only kind of works if your healthy and even then if your in a grassy area or the spirit has good headphones it won't work out well.

Flashlight at her if she stands still, then you'll know. Its literally that easy. If you dont have a flashlight and see her stand still, just hold w away from her and get a ton of distance. Its literally that easy. Sure, she might be phasing after you, but you can use perks like deception and quick and quiet to get more distance. That or stop and crouchwalk after breaking line of sight with her husk.

  • Its easy to pick it up. The best piece of advice I can give you is don't get frustrated. Decision making, quick thinking, and a level head are most important for the Killer role.

  • Being a fat survivor would only work against you. Its kinda dumb how people whine that there aren't any characters with morbidly unhealthy lifestyles.

  • Proposed change: Ds is only active for the LAST person to get hooked.

  • @Sunbreaker7 said:

The traps are quite effective already. They make survivors waste time going over boxes, no matter if they get it right from 1-2 tries. What I find stupid enough about the Pig's design is the number of traps she can have for the entire match. I see no reason to limit her capacity of traps, seeing as everyone else is rocking with full load for the entire match. What makes her traps so OP that if she manages to down someone, she can just put another trap on them. After all, for as long as a generator has not been completed, they are free to do whatever they want. Limiting Pig's traps to 4 feels like just punishing the Killer for nothing.

I Feel the same way. It makes getting caught by the killer that much more dangerous knowing that their power is always at their disposable. With pig, its like 'oh shes out of traps! This will be easy because now shes just an m1 killer!

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

I think they should at least make it so her rng is more like trapper instead of already having a key in one of the boxs. So basically they have a low chance of getting it and that chance increases up to 100% for each box they search, it would make taking off the beartrap first or second try more rare... i think.

However i think that should wait until she gets a addon rework because it would make her tampered timer and extra jigsaw box even more broken.

Id honestly be willing to trade Tampered Timer for it. I never use it anyway, i always use increased charge addons.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

If I'm being honest, I think the most reliable way that the traps could actually work as intended, is if they activate when the Survivor is unhooked. Thematically, the "game" starting after being unhooked just seems more fitting, I don't know why they didn't make it do that in the first place. However, if a survivor isn't hooked with a trap on, it won't activate, and they can still search boxes.

I agree with mangled being attached by default. This would punish anyone trying to heal while the trap is active, by cutting the time left they have to search boxes and increasing the odds of death. Also, if the Pig doesn't hook the trapped survivor, the mangled effect will help increase the survivors recovery time.

The RBT's should work like the new Trapper bear traps do. 1st box = very unlikely to have the key, 2nd box = unlikely to have key, 3rd box = likely to have key 4th box = has the key. Add-ons that add more boxes will spread out the RNG more. This would make the extra time the green add-on gives more appropriate, and the purple variant more worthy of it's rarity status.

Interesting. I absolutely like the idea about beartraps activating on the hook! That makes a ton of sense, and would make beartraps viable at endgame, which is one of my biggest beefs with them as they stand. For something that's supposed to keep them from leaving, it sure sucks that they can waddle out the gate with it on if it isn't active.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/220677/my-idea-for-a-better-piggy-pt-2

"First, the Jigsaw Boxes should NOT be interactable until the trap is active. Think about it: the Game never started in Saw until the stakes were high, and Amanda's Game with her own RBT didn't begin until it was active! It only makes sense."

This would basically the same like Ruleset Number 2 Basekit. This is actually quite bad, because it would force Survivors to do Gens before getting rid of the RBTs, currently, most of the time Survivors go for the Boxes, which means that the Pig has Slowdown. But when Survivors have to have an active Beartrap to see the Boxes (or can interact with them), they will do Gens, which is worse than them running around.

"Second, the trap should apply either Broken or Mangled to the survivor its attached to by default, no addons required. Probably Mangled would be the more balanced option. I just feel like having one on your head without an addon just makes it... not threatening enough, you know?"

Please no. Add Ons which apply Mangled, Broken, Exhaustion to Beartraps should not exist and those who already exist should go. And it should not be Basekit, because it just encourages the tunneling Playstyle of bad Pig-Players. Stuff like "This person cannot heal" or "It will take longer for them to be healed" just encourages this.

In general, the Traps should not result in Death on a frequent basis, they should be timewasters. There were ideas that each Trap has a fixed number of attemps (1, 2, 3 or 4), which means that one person will get the Trap off in their first try, another person has to do 2 Boxes and so on (not in an order, just randomly).

But overall, I dont think that the Traps need any work, in fact, I would wish for less focus on the RBTs when they give Pig some Love and more focus on her Dash and Stealth.

Im not trying to get increased lethality here. I'm just trying to increase the amount of pressure, quite literally the 'weight' of having an RBT. And yeah, sure, I can see how them being forced to work on a genny could be bad for some playstyles, but genny rushing has never been something that ruined me completely.

  • It happens. Rarely, but it does.

  • @Sluzzy said:

Killers already use tracking perks every game; BBQ, Whispers, Nurses Calling, Undying, I'm All Ears, Bitter Murmur and how many more. Killer addons to give auras, almost forgot to mention Tinkerer that tells exactly where survivor is at when doing objective. You have doctor that wallhacks all game as well. Legion feral frenzy. Don't pretend you don't have the killer's version of OoO, activatable by just doing killer things in much more powerful ways. Most of the time surv has no knowledge their aura is shown. OoO has incredible downsides when the killer version of aura perks have virtually none.

At least killer's have to DO something to activate those tracking perks. BBQ relies on survivor placement, quick reaction, and of course a hook to even activate. Whispers doesnt tell you EXACTLY where a survivor is unlike OoO, and nurse's only works when you're close and AFTER you've injured someone.

OoO is always active, with exact aura reading tracking that still works even with UNDETECTABLE active.

So yeah, OoO is definitely the broken perk.

Pig is not wraith, and should basically never be played like wraith. And the crouch-mode isn't bad at all, you're still completely removing your terror radius with very low cooldown.

Also if you really need an anti-loop ability to do well as a killer, you just seriously need to get good. Pig's dash is very situational and you probably should be using her size in chases, not the rather clumsy dash that will likely just waste your time.

The hat is there to literally waste time, and damn it is effective when survivors don't luck out with first try removal. Not very lethal that's for sure but while they test their luck you have good time to at least get some people hurt

I feel like a killer's power should be something they could use at any time, keeping the survivor's on their toes consistently instead of just once per survivor. You only get 4 RBTs, and once they're off, they're gone for good.

I kind of miss the old hangman’s trick. Sometimes you had a perfect hook in the middle of a 3 gen and could use it a few times in a row. It was like every hook was a basement hook.

And it was always pretty funny if someone was doing that sit under the hook “tech” and after the first guy dies you picked them up and tossed them onto the same hook after they saw it respawn.

That's Too bad. I joined later in the game so I never got to experience it before it became trash.

You're Not wrong, its just annoying af, wasting time going back looking for your item on the other side of the map, or if you've run the killer long enough and then been hooked its gone if you don't have a swf to pick it up and drop it for you.

What can I say other than thats the point of the perk? Its meant to be slow-down, and it does that just fine without being broken.

  • I had the same problem not too long ago when I tried to pickup Bubba, and there is only ONE solution- but luckily its an easy one! You must discover.... THE BACK REV.

All you gotta do is chase your survibors without hitting them, get up until your sensual Texan BBQ breath is tickling the back of their necks, then let that chainsaw rip. Start revving when you're spooning them, basically. Most if not all of your downs should be chainsaw.

  • @jester20k said:

I just see it as a dick move to cost people their items (except keys). If I bring a bitchin medkit, that can cost 16k bps. Then some loser Bubba m1s me and I lose. Its sort of bs. Where the survivor perk that unequips killers add ons? Just kidding, but its the same thing basically.

I understand your frustration, but at the same time, its not like FD DELETES the item the second the hammer makes your spleen explode like a hand grenade. You just kinda... drop it. Sure you only have so long before the Entity consumes it, but you could just wait till hes in a chase and go back for your totally rad medkit. I doubt anyone other than a rank 18 would completely drop their current chase the second that medkit sized dot disappears from behind his field of view.

  • If you rely on items to the point of calling for the nerfing of perk that counters them, then, I dunno, maybe you're the one who needs to get good?

When I play survivor, I bring items sometimes, sure, but usually its a toolbox or medkit thats gone before the game gets too serious, so FD just isn't a big deal.

As killer I dont run FD, I counter keys with slugging, tunneling, or just plain letting them go, because keys are undeniably broken. They should remove keys and ebony moris from the game completely. (One use moris arent that bad imo)

So just... stop relying on items and learn to win with skill?

  • BBQ isn't broken. Anyone with half a brain knows that if it goes off, it only shows survivors who are far enough away. If you hide close to the hook, or if its a small indoor map, you won't get caught. My advice run Distortion or just be brave and head towards downed survivors.

  • I dunno about hot but Cheryl is cute and Adam looks like he could provide a stable relationship.

  • Yeah well, we already knew the Devs didn't care about Legion. They seem to despise them, actually.

  • Two solutions:

1: Force them to leave. As a killer, you can do that because you have a weapon. Hit them and their gone, PLUS you get more bloodpoints per hit. Assert your dominance and profit? Win/win. Send em crawling out the gate like the terrified worms they are!

2: Go sit in the basement. Turn their little victory dance around and against them. They wanna waste all that time trying to get a taunt that never comes? Show them just how dumb they are by TAKING their victory dance away from them.

    You can't lose mate.

  • My brother stopped playing DbD with me when because of survivor que times. I agree this needs to stop. With no friends left, I am the only person who likes to even talk about the game, always getting rejected if I try to bring it up. These days im 100% killer main. My advice?

Punish the survivors. Be the dirtiest, most rage-inducing perk buildiest, sweatiest killer you can be. Survivors deserve no mercy. Maybe when the dev's favorite side of the audience starts to quit, they'll finally do something about it.

Or we Killers could go on strike? I dunno.

  • I agree with this. I have an excellent Idea: Lets make Claudette REEEEEAAAAALLY friggin tall so she can't hide in the shadows like Batman anymore.

The biggest one is undying. Cuz survivors are too lazy to do bones.

I used Undying on three different killers and every match I loaded into, it and the other Hex got destroyed by swf at the exact same time. Swf dominates undying, so why does it need a nerf?

  • Hope you find what you're looking for. I play on console myself, so i havent seen the PTB yet. Hope its not as bad as everyone says. All my friends quit, pretty much forcing me to main killer. I like this game. I put a lot of money into it. I really hope it doesn't become unplayable...

    ....Also what perk's getting nerfed?
