It is so insanely difficult to j flick with oni, that you honestly can't really complain. The amount of skill it takes to get the angle just right with it deserves only applause.

Was 30s, they just reduced it.
I stand by what I said.

Ten seconds is two damn long. Hatch should close right after the key-user jumps in.
-
Solution: Remove the achievement that requires all survivors to escape via hatch, and nerf the hatch so that it only spawns when one survivor is left.
-
What can I say, I guess you just got outplayed
-
There's no game without us? I dunno at this point thats all I can think of.

Each of the 4 original survivors got a cosmetic based on a survivor from l4d. Dwight got Ellis, Meg got soey, Claudette got Rochelle and jake got Francis
....OOOOOHHHHHHH
-
Isnt there only like one left 4 dead outfit ?
-
He also has a double chin on some cosmetics.
-
Two way street. Killers will continue this behavior until survivors stop, survivors will continue until killers stop. Its an endless cycle. This game's fate was sealed the minute it was decided that it would be a four-against-one pvp experience.

I was thinking on this the other day and there are some issues i kind of think when making a vampire killer and that is what power would you give him, it would make sense that he/she could transform into a bat and just fly around but it would make them do a lot of extra work in preparing maps for not exploting your skill to ignore most of the obstacles.
If that is not the case wich power could you give him without felling like a copy/paste killer and that makes sense for a vampire.
Don't get me wrong, i would love to play as f****ng Dracula but there is also lots of things to tweek for it to sort of work.
I had this idea that maybe their power would have an evolving tier system like meyers or nemesis.
Tier one you're undetectable, but can pounce on and feed on healthy survivors to charge your tier.
Tier two you become a lot more vampiric in appearance, gain a speed boost, loose your ability to feed on healthy but can still feed on the downed.
Tier three, you become a monstrous abomination, loosing the need to feed and gaining speed, while also obtaining the ability to bat-teleport, much like Nurse's but with less fatigue since you have to work so hard for it.

Oni is literally a vampire. He feeds on blood. We have had a vampiric killer in the game since 2019, which actually highlights the problem: people need something that's both a stereotype and that fits into DbD.
Seriously, it's not an easy ask. If you just cut-and-paste a Dracula character, it's not going to have the suspension of disbelief that lisenced characters have. That's why Blight is so different from Jekyll and Hyde.
So... Why would they bother making an appropriate mix of slasher and gothic horror when they could just make other semi-generic slasher killers instead? That's the question that has to be answered, because as I pointed out numerous times, we literally have a vampire that everyone forgets is a vampire because he's too original.
Would I love for a stereotypical vampire to be added? Hell yes. But it's not that likely to happen.
I simply don't agree that Oni is a vampire. He's an Oni, a demon, who's gameplay merely required a horror-themed pickup. Lore wise, he doesn't even DRINK the blood. The blood of his enemies just stokes his unnatural rage. Thats why he grabs it in his hand.
The way I see it, he traps it there in his palm, clutching it before he expends it to activate his fury mode, kinda like a magical trinket for a witch or a twisted version of the talismans that Japanese soothsayers used.
Wheras vampires typically gain nourishment from blood by physically consuming it. Yum.

Oni feeds on blood, which literally makes him a vampire, as would a killer that drained the "life essence" of survivors in any way, whether that is blood or the soul or whatever else people place spiritual significance on.
Which clearly means that you are looking specifically for gothic vampires rooted in Slavic and Germanic folklore such as a strigoi (Dracula-style vampire, also didn't necessarily feed on blood) whether you understand that or not. I assume you also apply this similar view of hammer-horror stereotypes to lycanthropy. Either way, I've already explained why you the difference between gothic horror and slasher horror and why it's likely never been much of a priority, although the game is very slowly moving away from traditional, original slasher characters so hopefully they will branch out into further aspects of horror, such as vampires and werewolves.
Not at all actually. I was just trying to explain to you that Gothic non-traditional slasher themes do fit. Besides, though I could see the gothic type vampire fitting in anyway, my first thought was something more along the lines of this:
Not necessarily the basic Dracula type. If that was the aesthetic I was bobbing for, I'd just use that one pinhead cosmetic with the super high collar.

"Not all vampires are gothic . . ." you say?
Uh, uh-hm, uh, really? Well then, how do you explain, Edward, huh? Riddle me that! Look at him! The man radiates gothic so much he practically spark--
Never mind.
Lmao

I want both of those and a mummy (and it has to have an ancient Egypt map).
Regarding the werewolf, the streamer Puppers said he talked about that with the devs years ago (he's been wanting a werewolf for years) and they told him coding a human transforming into a werewolf was too difficult. Now, why they won't just have an already fully transformed werewolf, I don't know. Maybe they will debut one, but only once they have the ability to make it transform over time as opposed to just being a fully transformed werewolf. Or maybe they just don't want to have one. 🤷♀️
And yet npc zombies and a killer that can actively seperate into two entites and switch between the two at will is too difficult? Sounds to me like they're making excuses.
Edit: A mummy killer would totally be cool too. Though Im not crazy about the prospect of an indoor map it's be neat to run around in a Pyramid.

You are just going out of your way to avoid Oni's blood-sucking, huh?
Oni absorbs blood yes, through his hand. Does that make him a vampire? No. They needed a unique way to charge his power, and thats why the cartoony floating orbs.
But that aside, you brought up the fact that something as GOTHIC as a vampire wouldn't fit in the game when, in fact, Pinhead draws his designs from catholic-gothic style. Im not ignoring anything.

Hey, don't blame me, blame the Devs. They have to make everything conform to the slasher genre as much as possible because that's the pitch of DbD, which means that gothic horror villains aren't a huge priority. They're the antithesis of slasher - all the ones you listed fall into the slahser trope of mindless, brute-force, emotionally unattached and amoral Bad Guys.
Whereas gothic horror is more about the psychological and emotional aspects of horror, epitomised by Vampires (almost universally depicted as highly intelligent and sophisticated that love psychological torture) and Werewolves (almost universally depicted as a tragic villain cursed beyond their control, often with an emotional connection to the protagonists). The Twins are the ones that first kinda introduced that to DbD.
So, yeah. Different kinds of horror beg for different kinds of villain, which is why the vampire we have in DbD isn't even considered a vampire. He's so slasher that he doesn't look gothic.
Not all vampires are gothic. Some are portrayed as cryptids in tribal lore. Aside from that you're gonna tell me Pinhead isn't gothic?
-
@MadLordJack said:
Sure. Vampires and werewolves are absolutely at the top of the horror villain list - for gothic horror and dark fantasy. But this is a slasher game, so they're not that important. Which isn't to say they shouldn't be added, it's just that it's one of those things that's probably never going to be a priority for the developers.
Especially since they already have a vampire. Literally. Oni feeds on blood.
Interesting you should say that when we have a literal Oni, who is a medieval japanese demon, a cowboy, a meatflower that eats people (demo) and a pair of conjoined twins that can magically seperate.

@Mysterynovus said:
This fandom is horny enough as is, and you want vampires and werewolves added? :P
Ah yes, malformed dogs and fanged corpses, the very definition of sexual attraction.
Some of us aren't that desperate, and just wanna see our favorite monsters appear in the game.
-
I have a question related to Dead Dawg. Did they block off that window on the second floor permanently, or is that random?
-
Leatherface, simply on the grounds that I don't see twins very often.

I must say, the length of those claws is quite consistent with my actual in-game experience! Lol
Seriously though, nice artwork!
Thank you
-
They could also work a bit harder on Killer skins, instead of coming out with cartoony /seasonal stuff. Gimme something actually creepy! Its not that hard...
*cough*
-
Huh. I wonder what spurs the Survivors to play scummy.
-
I turned the game on one day before work, figuring I could get in a quick 20 minute match and then shower etc. This was before the days of crossplat, mind you, so lobbies wwre pretty long.
I was Legion (Playing as my boy Joey) and we spawned in the Game. Back then I ran sloppy butcher/thanataphobia combo with pop goes the weasel, pretty much pure slowdown build. I got genrushed but managed to kill the first two survivors. Afterward, it was only two Dwights left, whom I slugged over and over trying to get the 4k. The match lasted almost an entire hour, and when I finally got them both, one of them sent me juicy salt mail, something along the lines of 'Oh my God the way you play gives me a headache'. Good times.
-
I agree. This has happened to me more times than I can count survivor side, I loop the guy flawlessly for five minutes straight, and my team has only gotten one gen done., then I get camped and get almost nothing in return.
I say, every time the Killer gets bloodlust in one chase you should get a stacking bloodpoint bonus that can't get revoked.
-
I don't really like to run hexes because all it takes is one bad totem spawn and its instantly gone for the whole match. When I do run noed, though, I usually do it on slinger for cocky gate snatches.
-
Someone said I was a garbage 'newbie' player because I wasn't running Borrowed Time. Entity forbid I try new and interesting options for builds, but I guess its my fault for, and I quote, "Dragging down the game's quality."
-
I think making it so his tentacle strike hits more than one target would balance it out.
-
From a historical standpoint, we may be giving Oni too much credit. His primary weapon of choice is inferior outside of the area where he operated in life, and though he does have the Kanabo at his back (literally), we know Nemesis can break through several feet of solid concrete with just his face. So...
Also, the 'martial arts' of the samurai would likely fall short to Nemesis' genetically engineered strength.
HOWEVER
Since we are taking Nemesis' fantastical origins and existence into account, we must also do the same for Kazan. As a servant of the Entity, we know the Oni is much larger than he was in life, while also being capable of extreme feats of strength even without his explosive bursts of legendary fury. According to his cinimatic trailer, he's heavy enough to make the ground shake with every step. That takes quite a bit of force, even for a man of his size. From this we can surmise that he is absolutely PACKED with dense muscle, strong enough to smash pallets and even completely neutralize a grown human with a single blow. His speed also suggests that all that muscle weight hasn't slowed him down.
Considering that both are immortal beings of impressive strength and stature, I believe the Oni and Nemesis would be a close to even match, at least within the parameters of the Entity's realm.
-
Lol, i still use that. It doesnt work as often as it used to but its still a very viable option.
-
No angry muscle murderer side-boob, why go on living?
-
Yes! Its high time we get an Alien chapter! We can get a Killer who sticks to walls, maybe has passive npc eggs with face huggers that attach to careless survivors in late game.
Give him a passive ability based on how many stuns survivors get off him so by end game he's bleeding acid and leaving it on windows, pallets and gennies like plague which gives survivors slow build-up damage if they aren't careful.
As for a survivor, I definitely want Captain Dallas or Parker from the Nostromo. Parker would be my preference though.

When you say terminator as a killer, do you mean Arnold, the big man himself?
Now, I'm not a great fan of the series but is he not the hero?
Cool thing is, in the first Terminator movie, Arnold was the villain. The heroes were both human, and he was this unstoppable killing machine from the future.
It wasn't until the second movie that the future resistance adapted Skynet's technology and sent a new Arnie back to be the hero.
-
On the contrary. I only wish that more Killers had powers that could be drastically complimented/augmented by perk combinations. Im tired of running from the same old bbq, corrupt intervention, undying and ruin build.
-
I think Freddy, cuz unlike Pinhead, Freddy doesn't really need your permission. He doesn't have to be 'invited' like Pin with his box.
-
Charms are dumb anyway, so I haven't really noticed. Still if you payed for them, you should really file some kinda complaint.
-
Bye-bye.
-
Well, first off, it doesn't say anywhere that the Killer isn't supposed to camp. Its not against the game's rules. Thats just how it is. And just because you loose bloodpoints for doing it doesn't mean anything.
Think about this, if survivors losing points for being unable to save someone because of camping is unfair, then isn't it also unfair that a Killer can lose bloodpoints for intercepting survivors who are trying to rob him of his/her objective?
Second, if the hook timer stopped when they camped, you would just die in egc anyway. And you still got camped. Sure the Killer was loosing all control of the game just to get that one sacrifice, so they're losing a ton of points anyway. Really, as the camping "victim" and I use that term very loosely, you're doing your team a service by keeping the Killer off gens.
-
You spelled 'Becky' wrong.
-
Clown's been swallowing severed fingers (due to his mori being misaligned) for eons. I think we can handle a little gramma-cheek pinching
-
The better question is, when are we getting a Rebecca Chambers skin? I WANT BECKY!

@TGB said:
Because 4 happy players at the expense of 1 is "smart business".
That's the answer.
Other posts don't matter.
And yet, if one or more of those 4 players disconnects the game continues. If that 1 player disconnects, the entire match is canceled.
-
Wait, you can't be serious...! T-there's just no way... no way someone ACTUALLY uses Windows of Opportunity.
-
Yeah it used to be the only way to punish pallet campers, but now it just feels like yet another survivor crutch.
They seem to think its fixed some sort of latency problem, but the fact that you can hear them screaming and feel the hit connecting without it actually working makes it feel even laggier. This is NOT a fix in any way, shape, or form.

I mean, if you play mean, they aren't even difficult npc. The issue I see with higher level killers is that they aren't comfortable playing really degenerate. If you basically burn the survivor rule book before the match begins, even good survivors will crumble. They would need to be a tournament grade SWF to handle that kind of pressure that proper tunneling, camping, and slugging could accomplish. Key word is proper. A lot of people seem to think you just look for the first guy you find and stare at him for 2 minutes. That's obviously not efficient.
No, not at all. Thats why I mentioned not to camp the hook. The sooner you move away from it, the sooner they'll unhook the object of your tunneling affections, and you xan get a little gen pressure in to boot.
-
Change your mind set. Tunnel em and camp em if you want. Treat them like difficult npcs instead of other players. It really does take a load off. Best results are usually to run a ton of slowdown and tunnel someone out of the game first thing. Dont camp them, that takes too long. Just stay close as you can, wait for the unhooks. The game gets way easier from then on.
-
I remember once, during the anniversary event this year, I had a match as Billy where this Nea was crouch-drifting across the map at supersonic speeds. I saw her several times with bbq and she used it once or twice in chase. The match immediately after that had a loading screen where that lady on the dev team says "Its my job to eliminate cheaters" and I just sat there thinking
-
Contrary to popular belief, camping isn't even against the rules anyway, so even if you were doing it, it wouldn't matter. Camping and tunneling are words made up by salty survivors. Never forget that.

His chains are great. At short loops. That are already unsafe.
You can't get value from them when they are faraway.
For better or worse, his chain hunt IS his power. The best thing I've found is to maximize that.
Hoarder, Franklin's, Ruin, PGTW with his two slowing down Lament Configuration solving add-ons.
This is true. They need to be just a bit harder to break out of.
