They got everything right with the character in this chapter, I agree. WELL, except one minor thing, and it's their weakest area as a company - balance. They fail at this consistently and never learn from previous lessons. The level of stubbornness/arrogance is actually astounding from these developers.
I dont feel like he's terribly unbalanced. What makes you say that?

What are the multiple uses for his chain, in your experience? I only really like the chain itself to make unsafe loops guaranteed hits. Other than that, I am struggling to figure out when to use it.
The ways Ive been using it are as follows:
Scouting: I use the open portal action, then aim it to get a good look around through walls and levels, then cancel.
Perk Shutdown: Clever use of the hook can keep people from using Sprint Burst and Dead Hard.
Loop Shutdown: Pretty self explanatory.
Misc Uses: In addition to the above, you can use it to buy time away from flashlighters, scare people off gens and totems, and even hold people in place while you break pallets and walls.

I think it has something to do with chain hunts. In my experience
- if a chain hunt is happening and you pick up the box as pinhead, you DC.
- If a chain hunt is happening and you down the last survivor (no more targets for chain hunt) you DC.
- If a survivor holds the box hostage and gets a personal chain hunt, some interaction causes the DC.
Everything has to do with chain hunt. My guess is that it has to do with how the chains are spawned. The chains spawn locations or something similar aren't correctly being sent to the server, and the server doesn't know what to do with it, so it just dies.
You're right. Every dc occurs while a chain hunt is active.

This could be it. Really good observation. Im gonna pay attention to that next time and see if its the same with me

At least he's fun to play. His animations are really cool, and I enjoy seeing them in action. I just kinda wish i hadnt dced at the end on my first 4k with him.
-
End game builds can be nasty, just make sure you get used to reacting quickly. The more people are left, the harder it'll be to get maximum value from your Noed/Blood Warden. I'd run a slow down perk and try to get at least one sacrifice before egc, even if you have to tunnel for it.

Honestly. I'd really rather they do another unliscenced Killer instead. 5he writing is always so much better and the powers tend to be more fun. With the exception of Meyers, liscenced Killers tend to be unenjoyable rehashes of existing powers. Hell, even Pyramid Head needed a veritable batman's utility belt style kit with a bunch of powers to make him stand out.

You need to enhance your imagination and think out of the box man.
People dont see what theyre actually see
I see a chopped up corpse holding a basket of... cabbages? Not exactly attractive, you know, cuz the whole dead body thing. It is an adorable picture though.
-
I think this is is a good thing. Ds has become what it should be: a pure anti-tunnel perk. The fact that you got slugged only shows that its existence alone is making Killers hesitate. On top of that, its now more risk/reward. You take up a perk slot when you might not even get tunneled.
I think more perks on both sides need to follow this example. Maybe then we'll start seeing some creative diversity in builds and playstyles.
-
Its alarming to me how many people are bringing up Spirit as an attractive character, considering the fact that she's literally a chopped-up corpse.

I feel so embarrassed. I mean I'm young, but I love horror and thriller movies. I know a lot of small movies most people dont. Unless they watch the youtuber dead meat.
You don't need to. Im not that old myself, and i only just saw the movie a couple years ago when I was in High School.

Yeah, its an old movie from the 80s. I did submit a chapter idea on it if you're interested.

On the other hand, I´m pretty tired of sweaty camper tunnelers. I don´t mind slow my game as surv if killer is playing nice, and evading tunnel at early game. Sometimes I even treat myself or give him my item if he has been considerate with survs. I think good manners are important although we are rivals in game.
But I can understand your point. I like playing vs Piggy, Bubbas, etc. But low tier killers are very susceptible of being gen rushed if they extend on a chase or don´t proxy tunnel camp.
In my oppinion, and I have said it more times here, is to create another game mode for DBD. One mode not focused on the actual metagame (genrush vs tunnel), and more centered on killer - surv interactions encouraging distribute the hooks rather than hard tunnel. Killers would enjoy the chases as survs do if they weren´t so worried about gens popping.
What we really need here is to give the survivors more objectives. As it stands theres only one main objective and two side objectives. Main objective will win you the game if you ignore the first side objective (bones), and altruism, the second objective, is a one man job.
There needs to be more to this game than do gens and travel from one loop to the next.

And why do they do this....?
Because survivors genrush.

the servers, or peer to peer hosting has been extremely bad since the nemesis release, its gotten to be unplayable.
I agree. Its so unbelievably frustrating that they refuse to fix this. The bug has been around for way too long. Since it appeared they've released a ton of new cosmetics and announced a whole new chapter with ptb, but no fix. Its clear where their priorities lie.
-
Its still an issue on ps5 and pc. To us, its a solid five seconds of freeze, to them, it looks like we're teleporting around.
-
A lot of you think I'm saying this because I lose a lot, but I don't. Its not about 4king or being ganged up on.
Its more about the vast majority of survivor players who suck the fun out of this game. When I first started playing DbD, I thought it was really fun. I got super into it and enjoyed both sides equally. Sure it had problems, but it was still FUN.
Lately though, its stopped being fun. Survivors stopped using different tactics, started using the exact same builds every single game, consistently. It was like playing the same match on repeat over and over. Then they started to get toxic about it, sending unnecessarily rude messages at end game if they escaped, and heavily salty onces if they died.
I just want to have fun again, and I feel like playing selfishly is the only way to get that done, because its clear to me the devs themselves don't care about that.

eh, i find it much more fun to be complimented and far more satisfying to get 10+ hooks than just kills, but you do and ill do me
Yup.
-
Quick update on this. I played more matches tonight than I have in a long time, and ended up enjoying every one of them. Turns out Killer is a much better experience when you aren't stressing over what survivors think if you, or wether or not you're playing fair.
10/10 I recommend saying 'screw it' and treating survivors like npcs.

Chase builds are great, I agree, but then they cry at you fro running Spirit Fury/Enduring
-
Couldnt both killers just gang up on one survivor? Hit, hit, hook, unhook, tunnel, hit, hit, decidive, hit, hit, hook repeat
-
You can't play this game for fun after a certain rank. No one's interested in enjoying the game, they just want to crap all over the other side as quickly as possible so they can abuse end game chat.

But isnt it a bad combo, if you need to use two perks slots and still have a risk that its useless?
Not necessarily. God pallets and lag hard for distance are so strong that it balances that out. Until pallets and loops are more balanced, Killers are gonna need combos like this to counter the exploits.
-
Spirit Fury/Enduring isnt that bad in the slightest you have to take up two perk slots just to counter things like god loops and Lag Hard plays, so its risk/reward if anything.
-
Theres a couple I like to use to have fun.
End game build (of course):
Fire Up/STBFL
Remember Me
Blood Warden
No Way Out
The 'Bully me and see what happens' build:
Spirit Fury
Enduring
Lightborn
Mad Grit
Jump Scare Meyers. Fun but only for a limited time:
Scratched Mirror (Addon)
Boyfriend's Memo (Addon)
STBFL/PWYF
Pop (for slowdown)
Coup de Grace
Literally any functional Oni Build. You can't not have fun with this killer.
Ninja Billy:
Tinkerer
Trail of Torment
Pop Goes the Weasel
(combining these last three hybridizes Stealth and Slowdown. Its a nasty combo.)
Dark Devotion/Dying Light combo (Havent tried this yet)
Apex Muffler (Addon)
Iridescent Brick (Addon)

Thing is, the devs made this game available to console. They took our money, and now they have a responsibility to make sure the game is playable, however they seem to be more interested in releasing new chapters and skins than fixing a bug that's been in game since RE release.
At this point I'm no longer an active player of the game. I just sign on to do the daily ritual because its something to do.

Come to think of it, those are pretty good drawbacks. The best one being that Hex: Revenge doesn't play nice with other Hex perks, because that means that for this strong effect, you have to give up things like Hex: Ruin, which is an idea I really like.
Exactly. If more perks had strengths AND weaknesses, and not just one or the other, then Meta builds would be a thing of the past.

Spirit's Father would be mine. I loved their expansion on the Yamaoka Legacy and I'd love to see more.

Most if not all survivors are goody 2 shoes. I want a survivor that you don't want to escape the entity's grasp.

-
Oh, but Entity forbid someone get a connection hiccup and accidentally dc. Oh, you had no control over that? Banned. What's that? You're verbally attacking people for just playing the game using the chat system we made? Carry on, nothing to see here...

the game rewards it, every bubba i've ever played against does this. Had a Rank 3 Bubba do this tonight. Like if survivors are trying to go for a save--its gg.
Talking about Billy, not bubba.
-
Not so much overpowered as exploited, I think. For instance, Dead Hard is a perk that should be used for avoiding a hit with precise timing (a good example would be giving a teammate more wiggle time by forcing out a second hit), instead, most survivors exploit it to gain WAY too much distance in a chase towards, say, a pallet or window. Meanwhile on console, its used to freeze the game for a solid five seconds. Frustrating that no changes are made to these abused perks.
-
Im in it for fun, not to try hard. I can see how farming is tedious to some, but you're pretty much getting offered free BP so its worth it to farm.
-
Any Billy who facecamps clearly doesn't know how to utilize him to his full potential. Staying in one place as a character who's power lets him rip across an entire map in seconds is just big dumb dumb energy.
-
I once played a match as PH where they managed to blind me from the side. They were so far away from me that I couldn't even see the edge of the cone light that comes from the lens like you usually can.
-
@lethargicsauce said:
Pretty cool concepts in general, tho I think Hex: Revenge may be a little too strong.
Well, not if you consider its drawbacks. For one, the hex can be removed no matter how many singular totems spawn if they get the origin totem.
2: You also have to complete a generator for it to take effect, so if you think about it, this perk would be most threatening against gen rushers.
3:I didn't state this but it wouldn't tell the Killer which survivor is exposed, so thats my bad.
4: It wouldnt work well with other hexes, because it needs all 5 totems to be unused to reach its full potential.

@SpitefulHateful said:
Why does it really concern you as a Killer?
Also, killers here often say how much they hate survivors with keys to the point of making them their number one target. I guess, survivors who bring keys know it too.
Because unlike most players, I play for fun, and I like to know my survivors are having fun to. What Cheryl did wasn't fun at all.
-
Save the Best for Last is an incredible perk for ending chases quickly. Combine it with things like spirit fury and enduring and you'll be unstoppable.
-
Same. These days i dont really seriously play, i just mindlessly do rituals and fantasize about the old days when I was just starting out.
-
I agree. Give killers the thumb across the throat or ceasar's mercy emotes to go with the survivors point and wave.
-
I have nothing against claudette, I have everything against self care gamers though.
-
This would not be a very welcome change. Im a huge lover of DbD Meyers gameplay, but I don't believe that adding a supernatural ability to a character who's fear factor comes from how human he is as opposed to ghosts and ghouls would do him justice, and just pass him over into his sequels' territory. I get what you're saying but I think he's fine where he is.

I'm trying but I don't have full meta on any of my killers I have some of them spread out amongst killers but not one really has a full meta build so I lose kind of bad and get no points which makes the grindy grind grinder
If I were you, I'd swap to survivor side for a while. The experience will also come in handy for when you go back to killer. Heres what you should do:
Play as many survivor matches as you can, swf or solo que, it doesnt matter.
Save your iri shards. You'll need them for the shrine of secrets, either to get your hands on more meta perks, or just more bloodpoints.
Do your rituals. Self explanatory.
Complete the tutorial if you havent already. Free bloodpoints.
Run bloodpoint farming builds on killer/survivor.
Then, you need to pick a killer and STICK WITH IT all your bloodpoints, and I mean all of them into that web.
Do these things, and you will not only have what you need to take on arduous red rank play, but also the means to use survivor tricks against them.
-
