I'm fine with people playing stealthy, it's just really boring and annoying to play against it though.

I mean it's annoying to get looped in the same building 10 times. I rather deal with stealthy players when I'm killer lol.

Depends on the player, one Killer searching an area for 1 minute because the gen he kicked twice has been taped twice the very moment he went away can gain a lot of time.

Problem with stealth is a lot of people mistake stealth with inmersion, stealth is not letting the Killer see you while doing objectives, inmersion is the same but in a corner doing nothing.

Thank you, a stealthy survivor also takes time away from killers as you are pointing out. They are indirectly help without getting downed in 5 seconds.

  • @bjorksnas said:

The problem that arises from stealthy playstyles is that you don't take any pressure off your team

if the killer is trying to split pressure and play nice but can't find the 4th survivor because they are hiding that means someone will be out of the game 2 hooks sooner than if they just found and chased the 4th survivor instead of just going after the 3 they can find evenly, this is also known as teammate induced tunneling since those 3 survivors are being pressured 33% more as if the game was already a 3 man

2nd part about stealth is if you unhook a survivor and instantly hide, ds isn't the cure all it used to be so that survivor you just haphazardly saved and ran away from is both injured which makes them easier to track and more likely doesn't have anything to defend themselves from the killer with meaning another easy hook for the killer and if they were on second stage the game has already become a 3v1 because someone is a negligent teammate

generally stealthy playstyles just promote the killers applying more pressure to the only survivors they can find and easily gets your teammates killed

For some survivors stealthy is a better option since they may go down in 5 seconds. So it's better for those users to be doing gens. Because if they go down someone else will need to get the rescue taking of times from other survivors. So it's better for the stronger loopers to take the chase while the weaker one get gens done pronto.

  • @Phasmamain said:

It’s just kinda boring for a lot of people. Chasing or being chased is the most fun part of the game for the majority of people

Well, for my friend he enjoys the hide and seek type of playstyle. And he is effective at gens. Some people like to play like that as well.

  • If you play on any computer version you can talk to the other survivor. I don't know, maybe you talk to other survivors and tell them to leave the gens 99 if possible. I done that to, with other PC players. I have in past told random users I needed to help complete a challenge, and they helped me out.

It's been a while since his release, and he's had time to sit and data to be gathered. So, the main piece of feedback left to be used - should he get (1 bounce) ricochet knives base kit?

Personally, I think it would elevate his skill ceiling quite a lot, without being oppressive or uncounterable, and would help for him into the "Trickster" archetype. Plus, it'd give him a niche - right now, the only real niche the Trickster has is losing in style.

Sure. Even though his skill cap is actually hard as is, and not easy as they claim in the menu.

I see nothing wrong with franklins. If I bring a key I'll just drop it somewhere and retrieve it when hatch spawns. If you're worried about franklins you should do the same for your items so you don't feel like you wasted them.

Right I honestly thinks it's a waste of a perk slot, because If someone has a key I know they go pick it up regardless. So I never use it as a killer. And if I'm a survivor and I get hit, and the killer has Franklins, I will go and pick up my item and use it, and hide it somewhere in the corner of the map and pick up it up later if it looks like we will get out. Or if I find a key, I usually just pick it up and hide it, or leave in the chest, or pick up if we need it, or later on.

Well it give you a small advantage SOMETIMES female in this game are more quite, the sound when they're injured and stuff like that aren't too loud. But a lot of male have the same things, Ace, Dwight for example, or Jake that is the quietest survivor in the game, but at the end of the day, the advantage its just minimum.

Ace is the quietest survivor, when he is not injured and vice versa, and it's pretty much confirmed. So much that there is times when I get downed and I crawled to a bush, or grass and the killer loses me.

I dodge SWF lobbies. I like having chill games. Even if 4 survivors escape, its cool. As long as I'm enjoying the game. Toxic coordinated SWF try hards think otherwise.

I can deal with SWF by playing tournament style, where you have to proxy camp and tunnel. But I would rather not. It's just not enjoyable.

    • PC only lobbies gets dodged
    • 3 or more SWF gets dodged
    • Friend list on private gets dodged
    • 1000+ hours gets dodged
    • 4 flash light lobbies gets dodged
    • 2 or more toolboxes gets dodged
    • Survivors with same characters, clothes and name theme gets dodged

The above survivors will find killers that are willing to play against them. Just not me. Been having really enjoyable games ever since I started actively dodging SWFs. The only time I would tunnel someone out the game is if they use For the people to insta save immediately after a down.

I do the same thing, if I think a squad is all an SWF lobby I'm dodging. Although from my experience console users play more in SWF than pc users.

Thank you again, I'll try this out. But can I ask what's a 3 gen set up?

3 gen setup, is when you find the closest gens together and try to put traps around the perimeter.

  • @ClumsyTrapper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2138649#Comment_2138649

Thank you for your input, do you put alot of traps in one area? Like 2 or 4?

I tend to place traps in areas were I know survivors will jump over, and or walk around, or while in chases. I usually place my traps to create a three gen set up. so around a certain area. As the match tends to go on, I will place traps on generators or choke points in certain maps such stairs and thing like that. Not to trap survivors but to alert me know if they disarm my traps. So I can go. But mind you if it's vs a SWF my way of playing may not work.

  • @ClumsyTrapper said:

Hello everyone thanks for taking the time to check out my post.

I'm new to the game just got my trapper to level 50 and reached rank 5. But I'm having alot of trouble now.

My perks I usually use are:

Bitter Murmur ,Hex: Noed, Agitation, and Deer stalker

My usual add-ons are the green tar bottle and a bag yellow or purple if I have one.

I try to put survivors in the basement when possible and trap widows and pallets near gens.

Any advise on how to use trapper or load out suggestions would be great.

    Thank you again!

Honestly with trapper you don't really play him as regular killer, you have to lockdown areas with your trap. You don't go looking for people, you have to wait for people to come to your area. But I get what you mean, in red ranks survivors are usually a lot smarter and will loop you infinitely, and disarm any traps you put.

  • @Freddy96 said:

There were games where the killer annhilated the strong swf just like the one on deadzones haven.

Yeah in only 3 games out of the whole trial. And there was like 10+ matches. So overall the squad outperformed the majority of the time. But most of the average base does not play like that. Only about 10% to 5% plays on that level of sweatiness.

  • Nothing she is in a good position. She is not underpowered, and she is a decent killer. I think there is other killer that could user a buff, not her.

  • @syain said:

Killer stopped being stressful for me like a month into playing. Most survivors are potatoes and rank means nothing so the most that's going to happen if I lose is I'll chuckle a bit at them trying to mock me in pgc then move on to another match. Try setting goals other than getting 4k's every game, that's too unrealistic (not because you're bad, but that sorta win is not always up to you, map rng, survivor items and your killer's limitations are not under your control and must be taken into account). I personally feel like I've done a decent job once I get 4 barbecue stacks. Then I just have to make as many bp as possible because they'll be doubled. My win.

What rank are you because in red ranks most survivors are somewhat decent. Below red ranks I agree with you.

  • @MrPenguin said:

Move the game away from being survivor favored most of the time.

As others have said the easiest way to start doing this would be to make gens take longer, decent survivors do their objective way too fast compared to killers.

There's technically other options but unless you want full chases to only last like 20-30 seconds max or hook states to go from 3 to 2 or something to make killer speeds closer to survivor objective speeds, there's not much else to do imo.

Its either speed up killers or make survivors take longer. The speed difference is the most contributing factor to why killer feels so much more stressful and why they are generally weaker in most cases. The main contributing factors the the speed difference are gen speeds and loop/map design being in the survivors favor in the majority of cases making chases too long for how fast gens get done. That's why the best killers are ones that can both end cases fast and get on top of gens fast.

Maybe injured survivors could go at 95% speed maybe that would help, and incentives healing, so we could have another optional objective. Either we play slower or heal up. That could be a way they could add a new optional mission sort of.

  • That is why just force them out. I always force people out, and If they let me ill take the free hits for the points lol.

  • @SasukeKun said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/244995/why-is-playing-killer-much-more-stressful-than-playing-survivor

There's imbalances on Survivor side is the reason, the devs really cater to the cosmetic buying survivor mains who are entitled and have to win every match or they dc. For me, most people i think don't understand that a single survivor perk can be x4 if there's swf and they do combos. a mess and killer needs to be stronger or allow for some thinking time even would be a nice start to enjoy the role.

There will always be an imbalanced due to the fact that it's 4 brains (even though sometimes it does not feel like that) vs 1. That can never be changed because it's how this game is meant to be. Other than making most killers 120 to keep up pace, there is not much that can be done.

  • Without spine chill it can a bit scary. Since the killer has the element of surprise.

  • Just hide it out the perk is okay. I have yet to be downed by anyone using this perk. Regardless there is not may good nurse that I have seen used this perk. And the ones that do is 1 in 1000.

  • I'm guessing as other people have said. It's just you got to put in 100% more effort, it gets mentally tiring I suppose. Even times when I'm winning it still feels stressful.

  • @Raccoon said:

Killer, more or less, relies heavily on their Player vs Player actions to actually progress their objectives.

I try to approach it the same way I approach Street Fighter or Blaz, in terms of mentality.

I'm in red ranks, both sides, blah blah, but I still play to learn instead of playing to win - It can be overwhelming, for sure, as you need to deal with wayyyy more information/decision making due to having 4 opponents instead of just 1.

I know it is hard, but try not to take it as seriously/just enjoy it - you'll get better faster and be able to win hard / lose bad without having a negative attitude.

I don't take it seriously. I view it as a video game nothing more nothing less.

  • I don't get angry for any game. But I think solo survivor is a bit more frustrating, since it's shocking how some people play, even in red rank. sometimes it makes you think how are these people in red ranks. Since more often than not you have to depend on how the team plays, so a bad team=Loss.

  • @GodLikeTerror said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/245008/which-side-makes-you-angry-and-frustrated-the-most-killer-or-survivor

It has to be killer, but that's only because If I get coldwind or red forest as Trickster I just want to put myself on the hook instead of putting the survivors on the hook, because I just want out of the game, because I know I'm going to have to sweat instead of trying to play casually. The map designs in this game for the most part are absolutely awful, and that's where my frustration comes from.

Especially if you get purgatory forest, which I think is a worse for the trickster compared to red forest. Or any huge map with spread out gens. I just played a game were all the survivors were all rank 1 and they were very efficient in doing gens. I got destroyed with 3 hooks lol.

  • @Drixpy_Jayyy said:

Dont yall just get tired of getting matched up with survivors who just hide all game and blend in with the environment instead of doing the objective?

Hey it's a horror game. Some play as a horror game, which means avoiding the killer playing stealthy. As killer people are supposed to fear you.

1 you don't get to rest

5 pack mentality (sheep) that will seek out your profile and leave hate messages if you don't play to their liking or message you for console.

    1.True.

2.Some maps overall, some maps are good for survivors some are good for killer.

3.There is no time, killers control initially, survivors keep the ball rolling.

4.Not just stealth killers, any killer. Communication will put any killer at massive disadvantage, because you can reveal position of killer and where to meet up to heal. And you can plan the next move.

5.I just put my steam profile on public.

Honestly I have no idea and I was just wondering about this as well. I'm like an 85/15 killer main myself and I win a big majority of my matches yet still after about 4-5 matches I start to feel burnt out and feel like doing or playing something else. I'm not exactly sure if I'd call it boredom either. Sometimes I'll play survivor but idk what it is. I don't exactly get over upset over losing and I don't care about playing against swfs, but I just feel like I get tired of playing fairly quickly. It's honestly very inexplicable for me and I too considered creating a thread about it. Not saying I dislike the game. If I didn't like it I wouldn't play it, but there's just this weird stigma that comes with playing killer for me.

Yeah I felt that too, after playing a couple of matches even if I'm winning I just feel stressed out. Like you said it's not boredom, it's just I don't feel like playing killer. I feel it just drains the energy, since you have to play at a near 100% to get a win as a killer. While compared to when I play survivor, even if I'm on a loosing streak I don't feel stressed out.

  • @Juicyman said:

Because you can never rest as a killer, you always have to be moving and thinking about your next move. Meanwhile a survivor can just sit on a gen for 80 seconds and cooldown, and then when they're being successful in chase they can at least feel good about themselves for helping their team-mates on gens.

Whenever the killer outplays a survivor they still have to do it another 23 times, when a survivor outplays a killer there are times when that alone secures your draw/victory.

Yeah as you killer you have to play 75% Harder, since there is 3 more survivors. So I get you.

A weeping woman derived from Mexican culture would be AMAZING. I was just thinking the other week how there's no Mexican culture in DBB. We have Korean, Japanese, Chinese (well, Doctor originated off a real life doctor in China and we have Feng so kinda but not really?) But missing quite a few other opportunities from other cultures. A changling from Irish folklore culture would be cool, a killer from Thai culture, we've yet to have a siren like killer imo that'd be epic or brazilian culture creature or even some of America's classic mythic creatures (Jersey Devil anyone?) But back to La Llorona.

Ngl though the thought of a wailing woman from Mexican culture would be fantastic and I'd be so for it. Imagine her mori being similar to plague but only vomiting in to r mouth, she somehow grabs ahold of your neck and just viciously drowns you. If the Devs did it right, she could easily top tier alongside Spirit which is a.. frightening delicious thought.

Ummm what about those skull face cosmetics, especially the Jane Romero one?

Aren't they based on Mexican culture?

  • Don't mind SWF. I play myself at times with my friends. But I will say it definitely is massive advantage vs playing solo. The communication part is what people don't like, not the SWF.

That doesn't work if the person who unhooked is under the effect of BT. Your response is exactly why I want DS to deactivate during the endgame.

Just eat the DS once. What is the big deal, you can eat once. Or unless you want to eat it twice, based on what your idea is. Or in end game just camp more effectively, don't stand in front of the person. Hit them from a distance so they get scared.

Make DS permanently deactivate when the Exit Gates are powered. I'm okay with letting DS work multiple times in exchange.

I rather DS work only one time, than it work 2 times. Just go after the person who unhooks. Even then survivors will use BT, and keep the gate 99. So by the time they make it, they still getting out.

I never said it would be like playing a live match. The whole point of it is to be able to practise using the killers power without having to also focus on stopping generators being fixed etc.

I know for a fact this would have helped me out when I was learning Nurse as I had to throw games to learn how to use her blinks, which can’t have been fun for the people I was against as I wasn’t hooking anybody I downed as I was just trying to work out how far she can and can’t blink and how long you have to hold the charge for etc.

I mean you can practice with friends. Anyway the only way to get better with killers is to play vs real people. As with NPC you are going to be playing against people that are programed to play a certain way. Won't make sense to learn abilities on bots. As you can learn the abilities from those offline version, but the tactics you use won't work with real humans.

  • No because this game is too complicated. Those NPC would just be programed to play a certain way. It would not be like playing a live match, since everyone plays differently in this game. Some people pull out extreme moves out of no one. An NPC would just be like playing against a rank 20.

  • SWF is Fair. BUT the ability for them to communicate is not fair. Even in otz video yesterday, I saw that when they all communicate they all performed much better, compared when they did not.

  • we don't know truly till they confirm it. It could be them just increasing the spawn rate. Yeah I get you, it's annoying to have a massive increase in people escaping threw hatch. It's massively increased when I have been playing killer lately.

  • Give him 2 traps at start allow him to carry 3 traps without add-ons. Give him a 30 second, 5% speed boost when a survivor gets trapped.

  • Is this really a bug?

We don't know if it's truly a bug, maybe they just increased the spawn rate for keys.

  • Game is not important, life is. Some people take it too seriously.

Yeah, that is my entire point. you'll same results playing trapper as you would playing trickster, except you work way harder for your downs. Its not that he is unplayable, its that its extremely unrewarding to play him even when your good at him.

I mean take this laceration mechanic that trickster has that forces him take every chase no matter how good or bad it is. The fact that survivors heal his damage over time automatically is reminiscent of one of the survivor's add-on for med kits.

Red Anti-Haemorrhagic Syringe anyone? Every time the survivor escapes a chase with 1-2 hits remaining, they get an automatic red Syringe for free if the killer does not pursue them to the end. Imagine when the killers mechanics gives everyone iridescent add-on for free in the lobby just for selecting him.

The movement speed changes are great, but its still very sloppy to chase people around wall-blocker loops. He is still too slow I'd say. Main event is still very lackluster because of this and for some reason, you still have no control(apart from 99ing) over its activation. I got no clue, hopefully they improve him in a month. With announcement of RE coming to DBD, its likely that everyone will forget he exists after new chapter comes out and he will be another killer in dust bin.

No when I play trapper I don't get into chases, I usually three gen them and set up may traps around the gens, and ruin. And I get a lot more wins with trapper in red ranks. It's not annoying since I don't loop. Or with trapper loops pretty much get such down. And same I hope that they buff him before this new chapter comes out. Or as you say, he may never get buffed, or it may take a year till he gets buffed. it's a shame since I think he is unique and cool, how he can talk, and he is also fun to play but not in red ranks.

  • Maybe make it so first gen takes 120, so that each gen completed takes 10 seconds off. So if all survivors start in 1 gen they will all take 120. So either they wait or they work together.

For those that know me and for that dont, i'm in need of assistance. This isn't going to be some silly rant about nerfs needed and stuff; i'm genuinely asking for help.

Recently, I stopped playing DBD for about 2 months, so i've grown rusty and my PS4 is acting up and overheating too much to the point I can't play DBD on it anymore. So all my hardworking with meg, Jake, Claudette and Dwight is gone; along with all my blood points, achievements and shards.

So, i've decided to buy the steam version which I find to be...arguably more toxic for certain reasons and reasons everyone knows. I just bought the game and i'm currently downloading it as I type this. I need to know a few things.

What I need to know is buffs and needs to killers, survivors, perks, map changes and any bug fixes that might've gone on in my 2 month Absence. Please give me legit answers so I know what i'm doing when I get on PC.

Another set of questions I have is how should I play and rehabilitate myself into DBD; Should I play with a PS4, XBOX, SWITCH or PC controllwr and who should I main until I get back into the swing of things. Please and thank you.

(For those who want to SFW with me and help me get back into things while not being literally landslides by all the changes, Thanks; but i'll do this alone for a bit and i'll come back and ask for the help. I'm used to solo queue then SFW 😅)

The only that sucks about keyboard, is accidently pressing other keys that cause the game to pause. Such as me pressing the picture key to clips things. It happens more with survivor, than with killer. But it usually happens when I'm in a chase, so it has gotten me to lose a couple of matches. But other than that welcome to the PC family.

  • There is nothing they could about it. I mean really thing about it.

  • @MadLordJack said:

I was about to come in and say that's not true but then I saw "unless you have 1000's of hours as killer" and I kind of went "fair enough."

Edit: Well, actually, maybe not. His gameplay is fairly simple and effective, you just mindlessly walk at survivors and throw knives. Once you know where and when to ready up knives and have really good aim, he's pretty strong.

No let me give you an example the other day on dead dawg saloon. I went up against red ranks, and I everyone was competent to very good. And there was this Feng who when I would get near her, I think she had spine chill. She would run up the stairs and jump over the window, and go down the stairs, and wait on the side. So I would throw some knifes on her, when she was running up the stairs and jump over the window and go down the stairs. But whenever I would try to sneak up one her. She would run across the building. She knew that the only way to get her was by chasing her at that point, since the knife laceration would go away by the time I would around. So I knew were to throw the knifes, it's just she knew all she had to do what run and hide. And there was nothing I could do about it. And was everyone else was decent at looping, so it took me while in those loops. And I of course lost.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKk1Ny80Vzg

Here's good sample of the level you need to be at it to play him at red ranks.

He has genuinely extremely high skill-cap that probably rivals nurse. I wouldn't be surprised if his kill stats were worse than Nurse at red ranks. he is genuinely really hard to play and offers little reward for effort it takes to land every single knife. 1000 hours simply isn't going to cut it mate. That is practically brand new. you'll need about 3000 hours before you can play this guy to a good-level and very strong fps fundamentals+killer fundamentals. he has the reward-level of an average middle of the road B-tier killer with skill-cap of like nurse. Even if they improved him massively, I'd imagine that majority of killer-base would still probably lose with him.

Personally I do fine with him after his changes, but for average Joe killer 1000 hr player, they don't got a flying chance to play him at red ranks.

Is it possible to play him at red ranks? Yes.

    Is it rewarding? No.

Your better off just playing Huntress with fridge-size hatchet hitboxs. Even deathslinger is single shot is probably easier than 16 knives for average Joe.

I mean that is my point even with people with Trapper in red ranks I get more wins than with this guy, and supposedly Trapper is useless. And why is the trickster even "easy" to use, when he should be hard. And you do realized that the guy Dowsey, I think. He is probably in the top 1 percent of the killer base. I mean you are showing one of the best users, that dude got a 200+ kill streak with the twins. That shows you how extreme he is.

  • Somewhat, since it always nice to get new content. I just hope they buff the trickster before they released the new chapter.
